"zuki zuki zuki" zazazaza zamuza
"Throb throb throb" Sa-sa-sa-sa-samsa
TL Notes:
[1] Kanji written as 怒れる人 (angry person) but read as ラングラー (wrangler)
As many already pointed out, the song heavily referenced Franz Kafka's "Metamorphosis". The song title is taken from the protagonist's name: Gregor Samsa.
"Don't throw apples at me" is another reference of the part where Gregor's father threw apples at him after his transformation which ended up severely hurting him.
Fringed iris/shaga/butterfly flower mean "Rebellion" and "Having lots of friends" in the language of flowers. You can find this flowers adorned in everyone's costumes for this set.

The Japanese air was warm for late May. A slight breeze blows through Miumiu’s hair and does nothing to help the sweat that collects on the back of her neck, heavy boots also a major regret as she is forced to produce and output more energy. This damn map is so confusing, especially because it’s written in Japanese so any and all markers are completely lost on her. The nice receptionist at her hotel marked the location of the train station on the map with a bright red circle, but it didn’t help when she thought she needed to take a left turn and lost her way.
It’s a quiet area, at least. Tokyo is great but the main cities are incredibly busy and leave no room to stop and stare at a map. When she’s been in the likes of Shinjuku or Harajuku, Miumiu just follows someone who looks like they know where they’re going and hopes to find something cool.
Stopping and standing to the side of the street, she looks around for any signs that she could try and link to the map. There were no signs, but she did manage to find what she might have been looking for.
Surrounded by trees, she could see old style buildings peeking out and an inconspicuous entrance. She’d been looking for a shrine she doesn’t know how to pronounce, sighing with relief at the thought she’d hit the jackpot without realising it.
There wasn’t what looked to be an official entrance as far as she could see — although she didn’t really look too far, only at the opening in a wall that she could see and figured since no one else was around. Miumiu was ready to play her ignorant foreigner card and ’sumimasen’ her way out of any scolding she might receive.
The path was dirt as soon as she squeezed through the wall, but it was still a clear path Miumiu could take through the trees. It was slightly steep as she climbed, taking in her surroundings of trees until she came across some stairs finally. Although, she would much rather the dirt than stairs tearing at her muscles. Soon enough she realised it was a lot of work just to take some pictures on her disposable camera and pretend she can read the Japanese carved in stone. All her questioning of if it would be worth it was tarnished once she got closer to what she truly thought was a shrine, amazed at just how big and extensive it was. There were multiple buildings spanning across tons of land hidden behind trees; Miumiu felt like she won the secret jackpot.
Walking beneath the torii gates lined up on a path leading towards what looked to be the main building was breathtaking. Coming from the UK, the best thing Miumiu ever saw was some castles that weren’t mostly destroyed. This was a whole new experience and she couldn’t stop the goofy smile on her face. Not even when two young boys looked stunned to see her.
Her smile only faded when one came running down the stairs, white hair bouncing with each step and Miumiu contemplated trying to run back. Damn her docs.
Surprisingly, the boy had no fear approaching her and getting close to her face, noses almost touching as spoke to her.
“Anata ha daredesu ka dou yatte koko ni haitta no desu ka?”
His tone was threatening, Miumiu barely seeing the other boy that had followed closely behind him. Realising she fucked up, she attempted to back up and was only followed, bright blue eyes peering into her soul over a pair of dark glasses.
“Ah! I’m very sorry! I’m very sorry! Uh, fuck! I didn’t mean to! Let me just — I can go! I’m very sorry!”
Amidst her panic, hands in front of her in an attempt to stop the boy from attacking her or even getting closer, he smiled wide and chuckled.
“Satoru, kanojo wo hanatte oi te kudesai kaojo ha gaikokujin no you desu.” The other boy spoke, standing to the side with a small smile as he watched Miumiu be tormented.
Satoru made a noise, huffing dramatically as he pulled away, hands in his pockets as he looked down at her. Miumiu was still repeating one of the few Japanese phrases she knows in apology and hoping for her life to be spared and deported early at the worst.
“Doko ni iki masu ka.” Suguru asked, drawing her attention to him.
Only for Satoru to lean into her view again, face uncomfortably close as he grins. “Michini mayotte I masu ka?”
“Fuck,” Miumiu curses, shaky hands reaching for her pocket. Pulling out a little yellow translation book, both boys watch her with keen interest and amusement. “I’m very sorry, uh looking for a shrine.”
Her Japanese was choppy but it was cute seeing her try, reading and pronunciation was ten out of ten from both of them. Suguru feels his heart soften at the sight of her, clearly freaked out by Satoru’s behaviour and having no idea what they were saying.
Satoru pulls a face, smirking as he repeats her. “Shrine?”
Miumiu pauses for a moment, hearing him repeat the word and double checking in her book of what he said. “Yes! Shrine!”
“Kanojo wo karakau no wo yame nasai.” Suguru grinned, standing in front of Satoru and in turn, Miumiu stepped back. “Dono jinja?”
She was so beautiful up close, almost like she’d taken his breath away. Upon seeing her wandering around the grounds there were two things that ran through his head: intruder and pretty. Suguru is glad he doesn’t have to fight you as some kind of enemy who somehow made their way through the barriers, stupidly looking for a fight without being sneaky about it. The way Miumiu freaked out upon Satoru’s approach was endearing, how she doesn’t know very much Japanese and relies on a translation book — Suguru already wants to know everything about her, what other cute things she does, how she reacts to certain things.
Upon hearing ‘shrine’ again, Miumiu nods eagerly, brown eyes wide and a beaming smile on her face. Her hands still shake with nerves, but she still talks to them. “Yes, yes shrine. Uh, I’m very sorry.”
It’s very obvious she didn’t know what he said besides the one word she recognised; Satoru snickering while Suguru tried to keep a less arrogant demeanour in comparison. Pink dusted her cheeks and the bright smile she wore faded into one of uncertainty. Miumiu knew she didn’t understand them, but couldn’t just ‘hai or sumimasen her way out of this one.
Suguru held back from commenting on her blush, instead holding his hand out palm up, “Kari te mo ii desu ka?”
Miumiu tried to connect the dots between his actions and the words she can’t understand, the deepest browns meeting each other and she had to stop herself from melting into a puddle right then and there. Suguru’s smile was so sweet, friendly and patient. The total opposite of his friend who made her nervous and fearful to say something wrong. She felt at ease in his presence, comforted in the fact that she’s lost and struggling to communicate with them. Miumiu follows his eyes as they drift down to the book in her hands, realising what he was asking for.
“Oh! Sorry I’m very sorry here.”
She hopes that giving away her lifeline on this trip wasn’t a big mistake, that both boys won’t run away with her only hope of getting anywhere and abandoning her in the middle of nowhere. It’s hard enough communicating with people with a book, never mind without.
Satoru peeks over Suguru’s shoulder, looking down at the book as the pages are flipped towards the Japanese to English translations. If he wanted to, he could very easily learn how to speak English in a few months to a year, though his desired line of work in sorcery doesn’t require him to interact with foreigners. Miumiu watches them both with bated breath, standing awkwardly as they’re quiet for a moment and fiddling with the map and lighter in her pockets.
Warm brown met the iciest of blues again, Miumiu feeling the nervousness his cold and suspicious stare brings upon her. His glasses fell down the bridge of his nose again, but there was no mischievous grin this time to make her feel even a little better. Her eyes trailing over to Suguru wasn’t lost on Satoru, watching as she looked to him for silent help. If there’s one thing Satoru loves to do the most, it’s to wind people up.
“Watashitachi ha kanojo kara me wo hanasanai de kudasai. Torikku kamo shire mase n.”
Suguru was still looking to piece together his sentence, going back and forth placing fingers in pages where he needed words. Half listening to Satoru beside him, Suguru chuckles low and hums dismissively.
“Watashiha shinkendesu. Kanojo ha watashitachi wo damashi te keikai wo yurume, mujitsu no gaikokujin da to omotte iru no kamo shire mase n.” Satoru keeps his eyes locked on hers, an act that only makes her more uncomfortable. Squirming under his gaze. How she wishes she could have a cigarette here. “Watashitachi ga kanojo wo mi nakere ba, sore ha toraburu wo imi su ka mo shire mase n.”
The dark haired man chuckled, shaking his head lightly. Miumiu was enchanted by the way his fringe swung back and forth.
“Mousoushi nai de kudasai. Daremo ga kyoui toiu wake de ha ari mase n.” Satoru hums and finally breaks his gaze as Suguru prepares himself to try and structure an English sentence. “Which shrine search is it?”
Now it was Miumiu’s turn to find Suguru’s attempt at English endearing. Reading from the book and flipping through the pages he had bookmarked with his fingers, his translating wasn’t bad and she understood why they were so enamoured with her speaking Japanese. Now there was the issue of trying to figure out which shrine she was looking for. There was no way she would be able to remember the name, but it was marked on her paper map. Pulling out the folded paper, she opened it enough for the area and pointed to the blue circle, holding the map towards both boys.
They hummed in understanding, talking between themselves like before as Miumiu watched with interest. She was hoping that they would be able to give her directions or at least point out where she is on her map currently. That would determine if she finds somewhere else to explore or try not to get too lost back to the hotel. Fast Japanese flew between them, barely even making out any of the words – as though she’d be able to understand anyway.
“Sou sou,” Suguru said as he turned back to Miumiu, holding back a smile at her puzzled face. “Ahh miseru.” He points to himself, Satoru then Miumiu before the map where the shrine is labelled. “Miseru.”
Satoru was already walking the way that she had come, back towards the entrance she stumbled upon. She watched him with furrowed brows, turning back to Suguru, that warm and comforting smile still on offer for her. The translation book was given back to her, tucking it in her pocket along with the map quickly, turning when Suguru began walking ahead also.
“Foroo suru!” He called towards her, motioning with his hand for her to follow.
Oh, they’re going to show her the shrine!
A smile breaks out onto Miumiu’s face as she runs the best she can to catch up to them both, long legs giving them a head start that her five foot three frame would struggle with.
Walking up the muddy hill was a task in itself, walking down it is a whole other beast. Both boys didn’t have a problem (their long legs and better core stability) but her foot had already slipped a little on crumbling dried mud. Suguru had offered his hand for her, saying something she could only guess was ‘take my hand’ and she did – neither of them expected the sparks of electricity that flowed through either of them. His hand was rough and warm but not sweaty like hers, embarrassed that she didn’t try to discreetly wipe them first. Both of them thought they were the only ones to feel the spark upon contact, but Satoru watched from the bottom just how obvious they were.
It was a short distance, actually, from where she had stumbled upon. Miumiu tried to take in her surroundings and any specific landmarks she can point out for if she makes it here again, but she was already so overwhelmed that nothing sunk in. There were homes along the main road, small shops that she couldn’t distinguish what they sell; some of the buildings were filled with so many random things, she couldn’t decide if they were what the UK calls ‘handyman stores’ or someone’s storage. All the while both Satoru and Suguru walked ahead, talking away to each other and leaving Miumiu in the dark. She didn’t mind, grateful they were willing to take her directly there.
Satoru twirled, still walking, to face Miumiu and caught her attention. “Nanto iu o namae desu ka?”
Miumiu blinked, breath caught in her throat as she scrolled through her brain for any piece of that sentence she could pull. Instead of being able to respond with anything, she just smiled sheepishly and laughed awkwardly when Satoru groaned and rolled his eyes beneath his glasses. Patience definitely wasn’t his forté but he continued to try, somehow avoiding every obstacle in his path when he wasn’t looking.
Pointing to himself. “Gojo.” Pointing to the boy beside him. “Geto.” Pointing to you, white brows raised as he waits.
“Oh! Miumiu.” She points to herself, then Satoru. “Gojo.” He nods and she moves to Suguru. “Geto.”
“Yes! Ii ko da ne.” He beams, giving the girl a thumbs up before turning back around.
She rolls their names off of her tongue in her head the rest of the way there, completely forgetting them as they take her through the entrance of the shrine she was looking for. It was pretty; surrounded by trees and large, red gates to walk under, a main building sat deep in the estate surrounded by statues. Immediately she pulls out her disposable camera, the lens pressed to her eye as she takes photos of the arches and the building from where she stood.
Satoru and Suguru stood around as Miumiu explored the area, taking photos and carefully investigating the rope wrapped around a specific tree. She didn't dare get close for fear of doing something disrespectful, jumping out of her skin when Suguru appeared beside her. A squeak of surprise echoed in the area, followed by the sweetest laugh from Suguru.
Hand on her heart, she giggles, “You scared the shit out of me.”
Right, he can’t understand her.
“Shimenawa.” Suguru states and reminds Miumiu that she can’t understand him either. He points and repeats “Shimenawa.”
“Oh,” she blinks at the rope, “Shimenawa.”
Miumiu hasn’t the faintest idea what it means or what the rope is still. There was definitely purpose to it though, as there were paper strips cut out in a zigzag pattern hanging from it. Either way, she took a photo. When she gets back home she will have to look it up on the internet if she can.
The pair stood together and took in the sights of other trees with the ‘shimenawa’ decorating them. It wasn’t as awkward as she anticipated it to be. While grateful for their kindness, she expected for them to be running away as soon as they got here and leaving her to roam around and hopefully make it back to the hotel before sunset.
Satoru was bored, crouched near the entrance with his chin propped on his elbow – however, he knows his best friend and just when to put up with something for his sake. The hearts in Suguru’s eyes appeared almost immediately, grinning to himself whenever Suguru was looking at Miumiu. There’s a time and place to be his annoying self, and this is one of those times where he realises he should back off.
Miumiu finally moved and caught the other man’s attention again, watching as she pulled out her little book and flipped through the pages. Speaking into the book as she read, “I’m very sorry trespassing.”
There was a smile that lit up her whole world, heart fluttering and that blush reappearing on her face as he waved her off. “Daijoubu.”
Miumiu swears she knows that word, whispering it to herself and keeping Suguru’s attention, watching as she tries to find the translation. The issue she was facing with such a book is that a lot of the Japanese to English weren’t written in characters she can recognise. Realising that she’s likely to struggle, Suguru gently grabs the book but doesn’t pull until she lets go. It was a surprise to both of them the trust that she had in a stranger – he gave her it back before, why wouldn’t he this time? Though, some part of him contemplated tossing the book to Satoru and telling him to run off with it, just to see her panicked face.
“Daijoubu.” Suguru repeats, pointing in the book at the characters and showing Miumiu. “Okay!”
“Yeah! Yes, I thought so.” Miumiu proceeds to kick herself every time she speaks English upon instinct. “Uh, thank you!”
Just when he didn’t think she could be any sweeter, his teeth rotted away in his mouth. The way she flipped with the few words she knows, taking his help happily, bowing at him with a giggle. Suguru is infatuated and doesn’t want to let her go just yet if he can help it.
“One day…” Suguru starts, it’s Miumiu’s turn to watch with a grin as he stumbles over the translations. “Plan what is?”
Trying not to laugh, she curls her lips inside of her mouth and bites down to stop her snickering. It was Suguru’s turn to become flush, trying to hide his face in the tiny book.
“It’s okay! What is my plan today?” Suguru isn’t entirely sure if that’s what he was asking, but it sounds similar and so he nods with a small ‘yes’. “Uh, I don’t know.” Miumiu shrugs in an attempt to convey what he won’t understand. It’s true, her main plan was to find this temple and take some photos before searching the area and giving herself plenty of time to take the train back to Shinjuku, where her hotel is.
“Hang out do you want?” Her smile was brighter than the sun when she looked up at him, brown eyes sparkling and head nodding up and down enthusiastically. Even Satoru perked up when Suguru called towards him, leading the way out of the shrine.

The Chikamori Legacy
Chapter Two: "Escape" (Continuation - Part III)
Tumblr media
Her sleep was getting seriously disrupted these past few days. She could overhear loud arguments coming from upstairs. Most of it was Mayumi having a bitch-fest about her son and it reached a crescendo last afternoon.
Tumblr media
It appeared that Yasunobu was absolutely fed up with Mayumi’s behavior. He was tired of the way that she had treated his son and took out his anger on her. There was finally an explosive shout in English,
Tumblr media
“GET OUT!!!”. It was a male voice and it was definitely Yasunobu’s, followed by a flurry of Japanese “Shuppatsu shita, modotte kitara koko de anata aitaku nai!!!”,
Tumblr media
…a slammed door and then deathly quiet. Even the sound dampening built into the floors and walls had failed to silence the screaming and yelling coming from upstairs. River could hear the truck starting and she glanced out the window to see Yasunobu driving off.
Tumblr media
The flurry of colloquial Japanese words had set her on edge and that had translated into River’s unsettled frame of mind. Yasunobu’s returning late that evening had resulted in another major argument.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Doko ni ikeba desu ka?” Mayumi had asked, her piteous tone just an Oscar-winning performance by an actor.
Tumblr media
Yasunobu’s reply was chilling cold, “Sukina tokoro ni, Mō kinishinai” River didn’t catch a direct translation, but the meaning was clear – it meant that Yasunobu was done with the relationship. That was how enraged Yasunobu was.
There was another flurry of words, that River hadn’t caught because it was muffled by two walls and a floor upstairs as well as several walls and a bathroom and a clear slamming of the door and Mayumi was the one leaving this time, dragging along a suitcase headed towards the Skytrain. On the next day, Yasunobu could be seen hauling his wife’s stuff to the back of his truck and he also drove off presumably to hand over the rest of her clothing and things that she couldn’t take with her.
Tumblr media
River knew that Yumiko was Mayumi’s mother and wondered if that had any fallout for her as well, but she felt an overwhelming sense of relief when she was outside the next day later that morning after that current conversation with her mother and Bebe and saw Yumi consoling Yasunobu. “Moshiwakearimasenga…giri-no-haha…mo kanojo no sonzai ni tae raremaendeshita...kanojo no sei de musuko o nakushita.” Yasunobu had a defeated look on his face.
Tumblr media
“Musuko yo, watashi wa anata ga nani o shinakereba naranakatta no ka shitte imasu.” River could see Yumiko patting her son-in-law on the back in comfort. How torn must she be or had she seen too much of Mayumi’s behavior towards her son to feel any shred of sympathy towards her daughter? “Naze kanojo ga sono yona taido ni natte no ka watshiniha rikai dekinai. Soshite, Mayumi no...Haruo ni taisuru taido tsukete wa ryoshin tekida wa nakatta.” River couldn’t understand what Yumi was saying to Yasunobu, however Grandma Yumiko’s amicable and caring posture towards Yasunobu meant to River’s understanding that she sided more with Yasunobu’s actions than bearing any sort of sympathy towards Mayumi. Yasunobu’s stoic putting up with all sorts of bullshit from Mayumi had finally reached the apex of what Yasunobu was capable of enduring and he’d finally told Mayumi to get the hell out...and preferably stay the hell out.
Tumblr media
Yumi turned to see River. “River…” She smiled gently as she motioned for River to come closer.
River approached her and Yasunobu. “Is everything alright…”
Yumi nodded and embraced her. “Everything ok…now…You…ok?”
Tumblr media
River had held Yumi tightly – she felt as much a grandmother to her as Yumi was to Haruo. “I don’t know, Ba-chan…” she said the last informal honorific in Japanese; she heard Haruo use it and it felt right to her – evidently it felt right for Yumi too as she brought River in closer to her. “After Haruo left...I…”
Tumblr media
A tear spilled from her eyes and Yumi enfolded her in an embrace. Hakujin so emotional Yumi thought to herself. Japanese stoicism would never work in North America amongst a mixed family which Yumi hoped that River would be part of some day. “I...I’ve felt so lost…I miss him…so much.”
Tumblr media
“Hmmmm…” Yumi let out a sound of commiseration. “Haruo need go…find self…be happy…he go…from my daughter…she not good for him…”
Tumblr media
“I know…Grandma, but I can’t be happy…if I’m not with him…” River looked thoroughly miserable.
Tumblr media
“He send letter…to me…I give you…envelope…” Yumiko smiled gently, she could see how emotional River was, how much in emotional pain she was. Haruo was stubborn and prideful, two of his most Mayumi-like traits; this was a private letter but River needed closure or a way to help him and heal herself. She loved River like a grand-daughter and it hurt Yumiko to see River in pain emotionally – especially from a wound inflicted by her grandson that she loved dearly. She didn’t want to see him go down Mayumi’s path of being emotionally toxic. “You go find…you make him see sense.”
Tumblr media
“I don’t know if I can...Ba-chan, He’s so bloody stubborn.”
Tumblr media
“I…know…too much like Mayumi…so much like Yasunobu…too.” River understood immediately. Yumi was understandably referring to the fact that Haruo could be harsh as well as gentle too. She resolved that she needed to bring back out his gentle side; the side that made River fall deeply in love with Haruo; the side that had gone into hiding due to the multiple wounds inflicted by Mayumi.
(to be continued).
AN: Aren't we men all like that (bloody stubborn)?

my first sasunaru fic, please be nice! 🥺🙏🏼🙇🏽
ages naruto: 18 sasuke: 20
---
Naruto’s parents are hunters.
They’re not really his parents. They’re humans. They found him crying, hungry, and cold, lying next to his mother, another fox like him, dead in the very forest they live in. They don’t know how she died, but she died protecting him.
Naruto knows he’s something… but not entirely human. He’s some kind of fox. Iruka-papa doesn’t have ears on top of his head, nor does Kakashi-papa have a fluffy tail like his. He has fangs and sharp teeth, and whiskers on his cheeks which thicken when he’s emotional, and his blue eyes that turn red and slitted, and nails that grow into claws when he’s angry or threatened. Very much unlike Iruka-papa and Kakashi-papa.
But Iruka-papa and Kakashi-papa love him all the same, and Naruto loves them with all his heart. He loves their hugs, and Iruka-papa’s kisses to his whiskered cheeks, and Kakashi-papa nosing his hair.
They’re very protective though. Even though Naruto is now at the age of marriage, like Iruka-papa has said, Kakashi-papa disagrees, and doesn’t like Naruto going to town, or anywhere farther than the nearest human to their home deep in the snowy forest. The only person aside from his parents he’s ever interacted with is the healer who tends to them when they’re sick, Tsunade-sama. The others he watches from the house and lets his parents speak with.
And Kakashi-papa has said, he’s too cute to be sent to the market. But Naruto knows, they’ve said it before. Naruto-kun is different. He’s small, despite growing into an adult already, just barely up to Iruka-papa’s shoulder; he’s pretty, with his pink tinged skin, full cheeks, bright yellow hair, long lashes, and shining blue eyes; he’s too innocent, too kind, too trusting, and while some may think that’s adorable, it will get him hurt. Because of what he is, someone will hurt him.
So, he’s left to tend to their small garden and care for their crops, care for their home and keep it clean and warm, and prepare the food for when his parents come home.
It’s winter, and Naruto has soup ready for when his papas come home from their hunt. It’s made from the boar bones they had caught and butchered some weeks ago, kept fresh by the freezing temperatures. He adds some salt to the broth, then some of the sliced carrots and potatoes they had stored from the fall. He grilled the fish he caught and salted with Iruka-papa the other day, and the rice is already cooked and resting in the ohitsu. (1)
He takes a sip from the ladle and decides that yes, this might be his best soup yet. His papas will love a hot midday meal after a cold, long morning of working and hunting.
“Dare ka?” Hello? Anyone?
Naruto gasps, his ears turning to the direction of the front of the house. Someone’s here. Someone who is not Iruka-papa or Kakashi-papa or Tsunade-sama. How did they know how to get here? And he can’t pretend that nobody’s here either, since there’s a fire going and smoke is billowing out of their house.
“Dare ka koko ni iru no desu ka?” Is anyone here? “Hello?”
Naruto grabs Kakashi’s haori that is long enough to cover his tail, and a tenugui to wrap around his head to hide his ears and pretend that he’s keeping his hair out of the way since he does have a kappougi on. (2)
He kneels at the door, slides it open just a little, and peeks out the engawa. “H-hai?” he sees a black horse tied to a tree and a young man.
“Oh, good,” he says. “Someone’s here. This is the home of Hatake Kakashi-san?”
“H-hai,”
“I have something for him. May I come closer?” he asks, getting the feeling that this person might be a little shy or jittery, since he’s only peeking through the door.
Naruto nods gingerly, ears listening carefully for any suspicious movement.
The man, tall, maybe just as tall as Kakashi-papa, with dark hair and dark clothes, goes back to the horse to unlatch the parcel, then approaches their engawa and sets down the large box. (3)
He sets it down and retrieves a scroll from his bag and a stick of charcoal.
Curiosity gets the best of Naruto, and he slides the door open further. “What is it?” he asks, poking the box.
“It’s a futon,” the man doesn’t look up as he writes something on the paper with the piece of thin charcoal. “I’m supposed to hand it over to Hatake Iruka or Hatake Naruto?”
“Hai, Hatake Naruto desu,”
“Hai, sign here—” the man hands over the paper for the receiver to sign, and stiffens, frozen in this spot just outside of the engawa. Now that he’s gotten a good, close look at him, He’s beautiful. “…please,”
“Hai,” Naruto takes the piece of paper, hunches over the engawa and writes his name down to where there is a mark. He writes his name carefully. はたけナルト.
When Naruto looks up to return the piece of paper and the stick of charcoal, he meets the man’s eyes. He almost gasps. How handsome! He has eyes darker than the charcoal, like a bottomless well. An icy stare that's... honest and genuine. His hair, parted in the middle with bangs framing his elegant face. He looks so different from Iruka-papa and Kakashi-papa, who both have lighter colored hair and eyes. He has even paler skin! Naruto finds himself wanting to grow closer to him.
“Ano…” says the man as he takes the paper, still struck by Naruto’s etherealness. There’s a delicate divinity to him, like Sasuke wants to offer… something. A gift. Flowers. A basket of fruit. Anything. Everything. For the first time in his life, Sasuke wants. “Boku no namae wa Uchiha Sasuke. Hajimemashite, Hatake-san,” My name is Uchiha Sasuke. It’s nice to meet you, Hatake-san. Sasuke doesn’t know why he’s introducing himself. He’s a delivery man. The only thing he should do is drop the parcel off and leave, and that’s what he’s always done. What's so different now?
Naruto flushes, embarrassed about how the handsome man is introducing himself, then remembers his manners and bows. He feels his stomach clench, then finds himself wanting to touch the man. What is this feeling? “H-hajimemashite, Uchiha-san. Naruto dake de ii desu,” he says shyly. “Hatake-san wa boku no papa desu,” Pleasure to meet you, Uchiha-san. Please call me Naruto. Hatake-san is my Papa. “Did he buy this?”
Sasuke shrugs, hoping this conversation will drag out and he’ll have more time to speak with this beautiful creature before him. Naruto-san must have been cooking, since he has a kappougi and a headscarf on, but it’s puzzling that he has a haori over it. “Maybe. I was only tasked to deliver this to his home. I didn’t expect it to be this far,”
“Oh, um, yes. It’s a long journey from here to the town. I hope it wasn’t too much for you and uma-san,” (4)
Sasuke glances at his horse. “He’s sturdy,”
The horse chuffs, shaking its head, clearly displeased with being gossiped about.
“May I touch him?”
“Sure, but be careful. He’s… distrustful of others,”
Naruto brightens, slips his socked feet into his sandals, and in Kakashi’s haori, still in his kappougi and tenugui on his head, he respectfully, quietly approaches the horse to not spook it. He offers his hand first, and when the horse pushes its nose into it, a smile breaks from Naruto’s face.
Naruto has one of the most blinding smiles Sasuke’s ever seen, brilliant enough to part the dark clouds and reveal the sun and the blue sky. It makes his heart skip a beat.
That’s new, Sasuke thinks, watching his horse practically smush his face into the boy. The beast’s never let anyone else touch him before, always threatening to kick.
“What’s his name?” Naruto asks, brushing a palm over the horse’s muzzle and jaw.
“Susanoo,” answers Sasuke, keeping alert just in case Susanoo acts out and hurts Naruto.
“The god of the sea and storms,” says Naruto, pressing his cheek to the horse’s muzzle. What a gentle creature. “How very fitting for a fine, strong horse. Hajimemashite, Susanoo-san,”
Susanoo presses its muzzle against Naruto’s forehead. The gesture seizes Sasuke’s heart. His horse has never shown tameness to anyone other than Sasuke himself. It’s a touching scene; it makes Sasuke’s chest swell with emotions he’s never felt before.
Naruto giggles. “Thank you, for letting me touch him,” he turns back to Sasuke and bows. “You have a lovely horse. He loves you very much,”
“He seems like he likes you, too,” says Sasuke, giving Naruto a small smile.
Naruto’s cheeks heat. “Please wait here,” he rushes back into the house.
Sasuke undoes Susanoo from the tree, then waits like he’s asked, and a little later, Naruto is back out holding a single carrot, which excites Susanoo, and a bowl of something steaming hot.
“Here,” he hands Sasuke the bowl of hot soup. “It’s very cold, so I hope this can warm you up and help strengthen you for your journey back,”
“Oh,” Sasuke’s almost too stunned to take the bowl. “Thank you very much—you didn’t have to,”
“Of course I had to,” Naruto tells him. “It’s freezing and you had to go all the way from town, you poor thing! May I give your horse a carrot?”
“Yes, thank you, that’s very kind of you, Naruto-san,” Sasuke sips the soup. It’s delicious! Warm, filling, and comforting. This is his only trip for today, with how arduous it is to travel in this weather. How lovely to be treated to a meal like this after a challenging route. Sasuke isn’t used to receiving or giving kindness from customers. Usually, they receive their parcel and send him off.
Naruto turns to the horse, “And I’ve got a treat for you, Susanoo-san!”
The horse chuffs in delight, and bites into the sweet carrot when Naruto presses the narrow end to his mouth. It’s gone in seconds.
“Ii ko da ne!” What a good boy! Naruto giggles once again then the horse presses his muzzle to his cheek. He receives the empty bowl back from Sasuke. “Uchiha-san, Susanoo-san, otsukaresamadeshita. Ki wo tsukete desu,” Uchiha-san, Susanoo-san, thank you for your hard work. Please take care. Naruto bows.
He starts to make his way back to the house. He doesn’t want Iruka-papa and Kakashi-papa finding out he was out here with another person for so long. It’s not that he’s not allowed to speak with others, it’s just that if they found out about him, and that he’s different… there is a possibility that they might take him away from his parents and hurt him in ways Naruto can’t even think of.
“A-ano,” Sasuke says before Naruto is too far away from him.
Naruto turns around. “Hai?”
“May I see you again?”
Naruto blushes, the blood rushing to his nose and cheeks, the plush, pink skin and blond bangs striking against the white tenugui and the snow around them. “I… I don’t know…” he can feel his ears flattening on his head as he looks away.
He’s flattered though, that someone wants to see him again. Naruto would be lying to himself if he says he doesn’t want to see Uchiha-san again, too. It’s nice to be able to talk to someone like this, to see and interact with another person, but his parents—Kakashi-papa especially—will never approve.
“My Papa… he doesn’t like visitors…”
“Sou ka,” I see. Sasuke understands why. Naruto is gifted with kindness and beauty. Any parent will do everything to protect such a gifted child. “Naruto-san, thank you for the delicious soup and the carrot for Susanoo. That was very generous of you,” Sasuke mounts the horse. “Sayonara,” Goodbye. He pulls on the reins and Susanoo neighs, then breaks into a gallop.
Naruto watches as Sasuke rides away and sighs, but smiles at the bowl Uchiha-san had emptied. Uchiha-san thought his soup was delicious, and Susanoo-san quite enjoyed the carrot he grew. He tries not to resent his parents, keeping him sequestered away like this, but he knows they’re right. Even Tsunade-sama says the same thing, that the second they see him, there’ll be no question of his dreadful fate.
He takes the parcel into the house and prepares for his parents’ return.
Sasuke then decides, resolute, when he looks back over his shoulder and sees the parcel gone from the engawa, and Naruto-san enter and slide the door to his home closed, that he will come back at a more opportune time and speak with Hatake Kakashi-san and Iruka-san about their child.
He intends to make Naruto-san his bride.

I made these for someone in a discord server but I figured I'd put these here for easy searching, it was quite a fun challenge, so maybe I'll do a full song at some point.
