So. I have some Thoughts.

There's a lot going on with this one statement.

Sanji is clearly frustrated with Zoro. We've seen a few times post time skip - specifically on Fishman Island with Hyouzou and Punk Hazard with Monet - that Zoro won't go all out with an opponent if he believes he'd beat them too easily. Sanji knows Zoro well enough to know this, and is frustrated he hasn't finished Lucci off yet when there are five demons roaming the island because he knows he can.

At the same time, this statement is very pointed, very mean, even within the scope of their rivalry, especially considering Sanji's own struggles with his self-worth. It reads as a cold and calculated statement, either to get Zoro's ass in gear or as a reading of the situation.

It is also, notably, very Not Sanji

You can argue that's just the difference between how Sanji talks to Usopp vs. how Sanji talks to Zoro, but the stark contrast between "I'll do what you can't do" and "He's a liability" is pretty Poignant.

You can make the case that Sanji was drawing on his own insecurities to say the meanest thing he could to get Zoro to stop fooling around and finish the fight, which is a valid reading considering...

...that's exactly what happens.

Zoro hears Sanji call him a liability, realizes how serious the situation is, and immediately finishes off Lucci.

But maybe there's another reason for Sanji to be acting so un-Sanji like?

"If I'm not in my right mind" he said.

What if it's less Zoro realizing the situation is serious because of how Sanji is getting under his skin and more Zoro realizing that Sanji is starting to not act like himself?

What if Zoro realizes Sanji's fears when he solicited that promise from him are coming true?

What if it's death pact fulfillment time?

First things first, spoilers for One piece chapter 1081 leaks.

Law Vs BB finishes and Law is alive because Bepo intervened in his sulong form. So far we know the polar tang has been destroyed and that the rest of his crew is either floating in the sea or laying on the ground. And okay, at least Law is alive and BB didn't get his df but like, I'm so incredibly sad.

First of, Law has know Bepo, Penguin and Sachi since he escaped the Doflamingo family, a full 13 years ago. and right now only Bepo is confirmed to be alive.

The Polar Tang was a gift from an old man who took the four original heart pirates in, and now it is destroyed.

Law wasn't planning on finding the OP, he just wants to find the truth about the D name, and now he's lost his crew, with which he just got reunited in Zou because BB wanted his df.

And also, Law has already lost his family twice, first with Flevance and then Corazon, the idea that now that he was finally free of Doflamingo- and could finally actually be "free" as Corazon had told him to be- he has lost his family once again is devastating.

I'm going to bawl my eyes out.

But also, I'm proud that his crew stood against BB and from what it seems they put up a good fight until the end, considering most of Law's crew seems to not be very battle ready excluding Bepo, Penguin, Sachi and Jean Bart.

I have to add this because it just came to my mind that Law left his crew back with the whole Punk Hazard- Dressrosa thing thinking he wouldn't come back and in order to protect them and now he is still alive and has lost his crew which is the opposite of what he wanted.

Yamato basically said he was going to go out to sea later, just not yet; He wanted to explore Wano first, just like Oden did. And what did Oden do after he finished exploring Wano? He set out to sea and wound up on the crew of the future Pirate King and sailed with him to Laugh Tale!

Marco's whole crew is dead (maybe) and he is all alone... :,( ...just like Brook!! You know what cheered Brook up and would probably hopefully also cheer Marco up? Joining a new crew full of spunky youngin's!!

Law's crew's fate is currently unknown... (Captured? Dead? Who can know for sure!) ...and he is currently on the run with only Bepo. I am fully aware that I'm reaching here, but still... Maybe?! (Supposedly Law originally wasn't supposed to reappear as early as he did post-timeskip, but Punk Hazard wasn't getting as good a reception as they were hoping for so Law was reintroduced earlier because they knew how popular he was... Oda has already made changes with Law due to his popularity; Who's to say he wouldn't kill off Law's crew so he could join Luffy's?!)

oh, I've had a hunch that Sanji got... cranked up to 11 in the anime. after OPLA I became manga-only reader, as I wanted the rawest possible OP experience and also bcuz reading is quicker than watching the anime 😅 (I'm still not even halfway through -- recently started Impel Down -- but it is such a great story, I already love it so much!!!) but I also started dipping my toes into the fandom. and I saw people hating Sanji for being a gross pervert. but while reading the manga, this man gave me more of a love-sick puppy vibes??? all the swooning and fussing over Nami and Robin seemed almost sweet (him running towards them with flowers in Skypiea or cotton candy in Long Ring Island? c'mon, that was adorable) he has his moments but they aren't even that bad, tbh. I wondered that maybe it was a misguided hate towards his special treatment for women (chivalry?????) rankling feminists, tired of men treating women like wilting flowers in constant need of man-help but no, people seemed very dead-set on him being a straight up pervert and I realised... oh, those are anime fans... oh, no... what happened here, and I got discouraged from trying to watch the anime, since if it changed Sanji, one of the main characters, it was very likely to change other things, especially given how old the anime is. and then I realised that it already changed things even in the first episode and I kind of... stuck to the manga for now. maybe I will watch some movies just to see the One Piece world prettily animated 🤔

(Long post) First of all, some recommendations for you so you can enjoy the animation ^^ If you want to enjoy One Piece animated with an "Oda feel", watch the movie "Strong World". The script is written by Oda and you can watch it after finishing Thriller Bark. Like with the rest of the movies, the content is not Canon content, so what you see on them doesn't really happen in the real One Piece story (even if some of the enemies pasts are canon), but this one is the best and more on character we can probably see.

After that, Oda was executive producer in "Film Z" (supposed to be after FishMan Island Arc, but preferably after Punk Hazard Arc to avoid spoilers) and "Gold" (watch after Dressrosa Arc). His involvement with these movies is not so big, tho, so watch them with that in mind. (For example, in "Gold" Oda only rewrote the script of the climax of the story, because he was specially unsatisfied with how that part was done. They had to redraw the last 10min of the movie OvOu)

Also he was a producer in "Red" (watch after Wano Arc), and he made a lot of interesting comics and things that are canon pre-Movie... but the Movie on itself is weird. They changed many things of his initial notes and the characters are very "out of character" in my opinion. It has very good music and animation, tho! But yeah... watch with caution ^^U

(I was not gonna mention it at first, but why not... there is also "Stampede", but "Oda stated that he would not have allowed the movie's story to be produced if it was not a commemoration of the anime's 20th anniversary." So... I wouldn't watch it if you expect anything that makes sense in his world or characters xDU)

(You also have the OVA "One Piece - Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack", which pre-dates Toei's Anime adaptation. Oda took a lot of interest in this OVA, and he praised it a lot when it came out in 1998) ----------- And second, in my opinion, you made the right decision going to the Manga! As you say, it is the best way to get the rawest version of the story. And also way faster to read it than to watch it xD

I'm glad you love it so much! ❤️ It is really an amazing story, and I hope you keep enjoying it ^^

And now, oh boy, about Sanji... (this is gonna be a very reduced and fast thing I'm gonna write, but I plan on analyze the differences between the Manga and Anime in this other tumblr, if you want to see more eventually):

Your hunch is completely correct. Sadly Sanji's character is completely obliterated in the Anime ^^U

He is reduced to his perverted side (and very veery amped up), or to being mean and fighting all the time. He has nothing of the kindness he shows in the Manga, only the things they can not exclude for the story to make sense. The many fillers also show a different Sanji than the one shown in the Manga. The Anime also shows Nami completely disgusted by him very often, which influences the way we see him as viewers. She just treats him like a slave when she is being "nice". (Nami is also very different in the Anime. They all are different people in the Anime, honestly u_uUU)

So yes, I think most of people who hate him for being gross and a pervert mainly have their first and only contact being the Anime. And it is understandable feeling like that, because it is seriously a bad representation of the character. He is not himself at all.

The Anime reaches an even more unpalatable degree after the time-skip. ---- [((Little Spoiler of right After Time-Skip: Sanji comes back more sensitive to pretty women in the Manga, which translates into many nosebleeds until he recovers. But in the Anime they had always shown him in that level of pervert, or even worse! So they had to amp it even MORE and show him harassing random women and everyone being disgusted around him... something that doesn't happen in the Manga! It makes the character really stand out in grossness))] ----

As you say, Sanji in the Manga is a sweet guy, and only shows as a real pervert sometimes... but it is shown in a funny way. And Nami and Robin react in a non-negative way, mostly just amused that he is such a dummy. But everyone knows he is just harmless.

He totally acts like a love-sick puppy and has those sweet romantic outburst, but he can be a normal human being. And most importantly, treats them mainly as friends and human beings. Anime Sanji could never xDU

Oda running with the marine life theme so many of us have exploited for our fics and head canons, and it feels so damn good.

It's cold up north. Cold, cold, cold, cold. So, not only can Law do this:

(cut Stronger in half using Amputate, thereby dislodging Blackbeard and Doc)

to Blackbeard's under-prepared crew on their only slightly upgraded raft boat, Law's crew (namely Shachi)

can do

this! Blowing poison apple bombs right back at Doc. I guess that's the equivalent of an Orca's blowhole.

And, I guess that maybe Oda got tired of the power scalers too. Like, Law's got his high bounty for a reason and it's nice for Oda to show

his crew in action.

Captain. Must protec!

(though surely Jean Bart would be a very easy target). So, Law does pull out what was his awakened power (it wasn't Amputate, Teach), and Blackbeard gets pierced (and shocked)

with Shock Wille, causing Van Augur to chastise him

and to cause him to use his Law-like powers to rescue Blackbeard. (Blackbeard's downfall will be his carelessness, even though he's obviously doing okay. Master planner up against master impulsive?).

Also, the effects of Shock Wille look a little like directions of some of Doflamingo's attacks.

Van Augur thinks they're under-prepared enough to ask:

if they should return to the ship, and he elegantly uses his passengers to make his own journey more comfortable too, it looks like. Also, so long as he doesn't fall in the water, he's a good match for Law in terms of being able to find solid ground (with his warp warp fruit).

So, I didn't know Blackbeard had such dedication (we finish what we start! But his crew doesn't have the same conviction). Also, like Big Mom, Blackbeard's going to be a villain that Oda will have fun making look ridiculous (then again, there was that Kaidou skipping rope thing).

I'm guessing that "Blackbeard's here!" is Bepo or someone else from his crew. Law's getting his Room ready already. He's tactical. BUT, like Blackbeard, maybe a little too much hubris. Law's pulling his Lenin face again.

Law's crew really is the wrong one to deal with on the ocean, huh? Makes sense. And there were a few meta last week that said that sinking all the devil fruit users wold be the way to go, and what a perfect plan it would be except for

it doesn't seem that Law knows about Blackbeard's power (which seems unlike Law), or he doesn't know how it works. (As an aside, did he take Boa's power, or did Rayleigh step in just in time?). Or he's just, really, really, worried, cos his big willy just ain't gonna cut it if Blackbeard gets his power or absorbs Law himself. Ahhh. **(Law's powers that spread shock waves and threads and radiation might be able to counter something?)

And back a few frames—Pudding's on board and just as she doesn't seem to realise about Law and Kid bringing about Big Mom's death (although she said "if" she's alive), Law doesn't seem to know about Black Vortex (Black Gravity?), and Blackbeard doesn't seem to know even the most basic of Law's powers (although, maybe he does and that's why he's got all those devil fruit users (and Pudding) on the boat currently under attack from the Hearts. Devil Fruits are Teach's speciality, after all).

And

cover page. Kuzan confirmed! Ah, I don't think he's part of SWORD, cos then Punk Hazard probably wouldn't have happened. I read such a good OC/Law story back in the day (2016/17?) on FFN that had Kuzan undercover in the Blackbeard Pirates, and I don't read OC fics much. Loved it. So, Sanji will have to come, because two of his loves will probably end up captured (Pudding already is, but Law, too).

What do you make of Akainu's words? I can't find mention of Winner Island in the Wiki, but I didn't search too thoroughly. I don't think Law's SWORD either, but might be (the theory's gone out there). Could they be waiting for that? Or Akainu wanted to sweep in on Kuzan? (Guess I should call Akainu, Sakazuki). But there'd be no reason to wait then. Anyhoo, other exciting development is this from the end:

Vegapunk working with the Revolutionaries. Kuma's backstory (and Bonney's and Vegapunk's and Dragon's get more and more entwined and intriguing). Also!

stuff like this (Punk Records...or Vegapunk...or why is the first part hidden?) makes me thing that Kid will definitely be relevant some time soon.

I just love that Oda is utilising all of his SBS drawings and inventing a few more

(70 year old Luffy—A glimpse at a possible future!). And the other kids

are alright (@lorillee said that Oda's going boob-crazy cos he had to flatten them for all of Wano in the traditional kimonos, however, I will say, he's not gone as OTT on them as he has in the past. And, yeah, Franky's got on more clothes than Robin.

The pervevication (made up word) really isn't equal for folks that randomly say it is. Put Sanji, Usopp (and later Zoro, Luffy, etc.) in jockey briefs and the equivalent to what Robin and Nami are wearing and then you might have something.

The other two kids are watching the ship and will rescue someone when the menace becomes apparent (more apparent) later in the arc.

Thinking about rewatching Punk Hazard and Zou arc for inspiration for my fic. I see Punk Hazard is 46 episodes, which isn't ideal since it's not my favorite arc. I don't dislike the arc, but I remember being indifferent to it. Probably because when I first watched it I was watching the anime at a breakneck pace at this point in the story to get caught up, and that leads to fatigue. Like, yeah, there's heavy stuff in the arc, but I didn't have any Capital F Feelings watching it, like I did in earlier arcs, and I can only think of a couple scenes that stuck with me for Zosan fangirl reasons, so it wasn't an arc I felt really hyped for.

But I'm planning on watching 3-4 episodes a day so I can finish this arc in two weeks.

"You can have another plate, everyone!" yelled Sanji, "C'mon, people — this food won't go to waste on my watch."

"I want more" whined Luffy, "I'm hungry, it's too good."

Sanji rolled his eyes and handed him another plate, trying to hide a smile. "You should let the children eat first."

"Huh?" said Luffy with a grin, burying his spoon in the soup, "They're not special, I don't care."

"You never change, do you?"

Zoro chuckled under his breath, as the Marine next to him opened a barrel of sake. "Oi, quick with that" he groaned, "Or I'll have to finish it too fast."

The Marine laughed. "Yeah, finish it." Then Zoro started drinking and he stopped laughing.

Meanwhile, Robin was cackling as the children attacked Franky, snickering nonsense about robots. Brook was chatting with Kinemon and Momo. Law was brooding in the distance as he talked to Smoker and Chopper and Nami were just done having a conversation about the kids with Tashigi.

"It's just right that way" she sighed, reaching the others, "She's a Marine and a woman — I trust her enough."

Usopp smiled. "Does she make you think about your mother?"

Nami was just about to answer when a woman about her age approached her. She was a Marine too and gave her a bright smile. For some reason, she looked familiar.

"Hi, sorry — I heard the conversation and I thought this was the right moment to talk to you" she giggled, "Can I speak to the Captain?"

Usopp raised an eyebrow. Everyone was approaching Luffy quite freely so he didn't really understand why she was asking. "Huh... Why, though?"

The Marine giggled again. "I'm a fan. So, can I? Later, before you leave."

Nami sighed, still weirded out. "I guess, we're already partying with you lot anyway. But can't you come now?"

She smiled. "No, he'd choke on his food."

Chopper tilted his head. "Huh?"

"See you later."

And she left without a word.

Nami exchanged looks with Usopp and he shook his head. "Thank heavens you trust women who are Marines, right?"

"Well, I guess every clique has a weirdo. Like us with you."

"You're a fucking witch, you know that?"

And Nami giggled, while they reached the others.

When the kids had already gotten on board and the Marines were about to leave, Nami looked around. "A Marine wanted to talk to you" she told Luffy with a shrug, "Apparently she changed her mind."

Luffy cackled. "Nevermind. She must've forgotten."

Then he heard a voice, coming from above the Sunny, as if someone was facing down to look at him. "I don't know, have I?"

Luffy immediately turned around. And, when his eyes met her face, it took a moment before his heart dropped to his feet. That face... He hadn't seen that face in years and yet it couldn't have been anyone else. So, shaking from head to toe, he managed to choke out her name.

"Lu... L-Lucy?"

TWELVE YEARS EARLIER

"You'll meet another boy" said Garp as they all walked through the forest, "His name is Ace and he is three years older than you two."

"Where are you going?" the little girl accused him, a pout already forming on her face, "Why do we need to stay here?*

"I'm a Marine, I got work to do."

"Boring," huffed Luffy.

"Yeah" she repeated, sticking her tongue out, "Boring."

"Oi, brats!" yelled Garp, the vein on his forehead ready to pop, "You will become Marines as well, do you understand?"

"Nah" they said in unison, "We're gonna be pirat —."

And, before they even finished the sentence, they were both rewarded with two of Garp's famous love-punches, right on top of their heads.

"Behave, you two! A woman is going to take care of you." As those words left his mouth, he pointed at a hut.

When he knocked on the door, said woman opened it and stared at Garp in shock. His presence was bad news already. Then, she saw the two little kids and repeatedly shook her head. "Two more?" she yelled, her voice shaking.

"Do I need to remind you that I could arrest you?" he threatened even as he smiled. Then, he turned to his grandchildren. "This is Dadan, she is the woman who will take care of you."

"That little brat Ace is already enough!"

"Dadan" Garp continued, ignoring her complaints, "This is Luffy and this is Lucy, they're my grandkids."

"No."

"They're twins, it's like having only one of them."

"What do I care if they're twins?" screamed Dadan, "I refuse!"

In the end, Dadan had to wrap her mind around it. The twins were hell but, at some point, she had to get used to it. Ace was another story. It took months before he started to be nice to them and, when he did, it was after the twins had to go through hell for him and Sabo — so he kinda felt like he had to. And Dadan had gained another kid.

PRESENT

"Lucy?" repeated Usopp.

"You know this Marine?" asked Nami, as Luffy tried to stammer out his words.

"She's..." he babbled, as tears pooled in his eyes and a shaky smile appeared on his face, "She's my twin sister!"

The crew fell into silence for a second before they all screamed in unison. "Your what?!"

Lucy threw herself off the Sunny right into Luffy's arms, as they both sobbed and laughed at the same time, tears of joy flooding their faces. He surrounded her waist with his arms multiple times, screaming incomprehensible words and gaining a load of equally incoherent ones in return.

"Twins," declared Robin, quite convinced.

"How come you never tell us about your siblings?" yelled Zoro.

"And this one is a Marine, too," said Usopp as he shook his head.

"How is she so beautiful and his twin at the same time?" mumbled Sanji.

"Now I see why she looked so familiar," said Nami, still stunned.

"I see the resemblance, too!" agreed Chopper.

Brook laughed quite nervously. At the same time, he was endeared in seeing such a sweet reunion. "Yohoho! It's quite ironic that she's a Marine, though. And a seemingly high rank, too. Look at the coat."

"Great. Fucking great," seethed Law.

"Right?" snarled a chained up Caesar, gaining a glare in return.

Zoro narrowed his eyes and held his tongue. Judging from her uniform, she was probably a Captain or a Lieutenant-Commander. He couldn't wrap his head around how the hell Luffy's twin was a goddamn Marine. He decided to keep quiet until they were done crying like children and to just watch them.

Luffy broke the hug and cupped his sister's face, studying every single detail of it. "I haven't seen you in six years" he sobbed, as he sniffled to keep himself from covering his face in snot, "I thought something happened to you!"

"I'm sorry" she stuttered, her voice breaking with anger and sadness, "I tried to get to you and Ace in Marineford! I tried, I — that traitor locked me up in a Seastone cage and I couldn't —."

Before she could finish, Luffy covered her mouth and hugged her again. "Don't be sorry" he whispered, "I'm sorry I couldn't save him, I... I'm sorry."

Lucy bit his hand — which left Luffy somewhat shocked but not really surprised — and grabbed his cheeks, staring into his eyes, which perfectly mirrored hers. They had the same exact eyes. "You know what, stop. We shouldn't blame ourselves. Ace wouldn't have wanted that."

Luffy attempted to smile and he melted again in her hug. She held him tighter than he thought she would be able to and smiled wider, in silence. She was strong.

"I've kept track of you" she murmured and Luffy felt the smile in her voice, "I'm so proud of you — now I'm here to keep my promise."

Zoro tilted his head as Luffy let out an excited giggle on her shoulder.

"Promise?" he thought. He couldn't know, of course, about that promise she had made six years before.

He couldn't know about Garp's insistence on making them Marines. He couldn't know about Lucy's decision to just oblige and go with him. But, especially, he couldn't know about what she had told her brothers before she left.

"I'll go with grandpa" she had announced, "I'll go and I'll become a Marine."

"What?" Ace and Luffy had screamed in unison.

"Are you fucking mental?" Ace had yelled, "You're thirteen, you're not going anywhere."

"You're supposed to become a pirate! That's your dream, what are you even talking about?!" Luffy argued, possessively grabbing on her hand. He didn't really want to separate from her.

"Just listen!" she protested, slamming her hand on the handmade table, "I have a plan."

Ace clenched his fist and kept arguing. "I'm your older brother and I say —."

But Lucy didn't give him a chance to finish and stuffed a leaf she had found on the floor right into his mouth. "Oi!" she scowled, "Get your head out your protective asshole and listen!"

As Ace tried to spit out the leaf and all the mud that came with it, Lucy managed to explain.

"I'll go and I'll become a strong Marine. A lot of the strong ones get Devil Fruits, right?" she asserted, "I'll become very strong and then I'll escape and I'll become a pirate like you!"

Luffy was nervously quiet. Ace opened his mouth and closed it again.

"If you do that..." Ace had murmured, "If you do that and they catch you... they will execute you."

Lucy had laughed. Her laugh was pretty. Contagious. "Catch me?" she had ridiculed, "Catch me how?"

Luffy broke the hug again and brushed his fingers on a scar he didn't recognize, right in the middle of her forehead. He furrowed his eyebrows and she giggled, like she used to do when she was a child to keep Ace and Sabo from worrying. Now Luffy was old enough to understand and to worry about her as well.

"I have so many things to tell you," she said, ruffling his hair.

"Keep them for tonight" he decided, finally letting a grin form on his face, "We're giving you a welcome home party."

Then he helped her up and turned to his crew while snickering. "This is my twin sister, Lucy" he loudly announced, "Meet the new member of the crew."

While Robin, Chopper, Brooke and Franky greeted her quite dearly, the others were... uncertain.

"Isn't she a Marine?" questioned Zoro.

"Was" Lucy corrected him, "I was a Captain, to be precise."

"If you're not a Marine anymore, then why are you wearing the uniform?"

Lucy scoffed. "Ever heard of an undercover mission?" Then she turned to Luffy, a giggle erupting her lips. "Is this really your second in command?"

Zoro clenched his jaw and Luffy laughed as well.

"She's kidding," he told Zoro.

"Am not," she contradicted.

Luffy interrupted her by covering her mouth. "It was all part of a plan from when we were children. We'll explain tonight."

Lucy bit his hand again. "Just tell him now, he will relax."

"Stop biting me!" Luffy yelled, even as he cackled.

"When you stop covering my mouth, moron!"

"You're making everybody nervous!"

"Well, what can I say? I made an outstanding entrance."

Zoro snapped his fingers twice. "So? What plan?"

Luffy exchanged looks with his sister and giggled to himself. The thought of having her back made him insanely happy. So, he turned to his crew and explained everything.

After listening to the story, Zoro blinked a few times and barely relaxed his shoulders as the crew stood there, shocked. "That is a weird level of commitment," he observed.

Lucy shrugged. "I did what I had to. Does anyone have a change of clothes?"

"I do," said Nami. Considering Lucy was Luffy's twin, Nami was barely surprised so it was pretty easy to move on from the knowledge she had just acquired.

"Great" she smiled, "Thanks!" And, before they climbed back up on the Sunny, she gave the crew an apologetic smile. "Hope you don't mind that I left my stuff on the dock."

Franky shrugged. "No, sure —," he was saying. Then, he saw an enormous pile.

A huge backpack was laying open on the dock, drenched clothes spilling out of it. Next to it, weapons. Weapons of any kind. Metal bats, knives, brass knuckles, whips and two magnificent swords.

"So cool!" yelled Luffy, immediately running to look at the weapons.

"Oi, don't touch the swords!" she seethed.

Zoro blinked, as Lucy protectively grabbed the swords to fix them in her belt. He wanted to throw himself off the ship. "Are you a swordswoman?" he asked.

She proudly smiled at Zoro. "Yeah" she simply said, chuckling under her breath, "You know, my teacher knows yours."

Zoro lightly scoffed. "Fuck my life," he thought. He couldn't seem to escape swordswomen. "Well, I assume Mihawk knows an awful lot of Marines."

She raised an eyebrow. "Sweetheart, who ever talked about Marines?" he taunted him, as she took off her Justice coat.

Zoro gritted his teeth at the pet name. Sweetheart.

"Ever heard of Red-haired Shanks?"

Luffy immediately dropped his sister's metal bat, gaining an hiss from her. "What?! Shanks? Shanks taught you?"

Zoro's eyes widened. "You've been taught by an Emperor?!" The way he said that, it almost sounded like an accusation.

Usopp's knees seemed to have lost solidity. "What kind of siblings do you have?" he told Luffy.

"I told you I have a lot of stuff to explain," she laughed.

Meanwhile, Robin was giggling. "Luffy has such an interesting family," she said to herself.

Chopper was screaming about how cool it was along with Franky, while Brooke and Sanji were simply forcing themselves to look away as Lucy unbuttoned her shirt right in front of everyone. Nami noticed and laughed nervously, grabbing Lucy's hand to walk her to the girls' bedroom.

"Lucy, let me show you our room so you can change" she said, gesturing Luffy to take care of his sister's stuff.

Zoro watched her disappear into the room, her shirt hanging off her bare shoulder despite the cold weather, and glanced at Luffy, hinting at Sanji — which now had a nosebleed — with a movement of his head. "You need to tell your sister she can't take her clothes off in front of everyone."

Luffy shrugged. "She will probably tell me to fuck off, but I'll try."

Then they both grabbed Lucy's stuff. Luffy emptied her backpack and hung her clothes to dry, while Zoro took care of the weapons. He was silent throughout the whole process. He was bothered by the fact she was a swordswoman — he couldn't help it. He was also bothered by the chance that, given who her teacher was, she could've been better than him. He shook his head. Yes, she was taught by an Emperor but Mihawk was the best swordsman of the world. As he was deep in his thoughts, something in the pile of weapons caught his eye. Handcuffs. Seastone handcuffs. They seemed detachable, as if they could turn into bracelets.

Zoro clenched his jaw and jiggled the handcuffs over Luffy's face. "What the fuck is this?"

Luffy tilted his head and shrugged. "And what do I know?"

"Look, Luffy, you know I appreciate meeting your siblings but don't you think it's weird that she has spent her life being a Marine and now she's here with a pair of Seastone handcuffs?"

Luffy chuckled but Zoro could sense he was a bit upset. "Zoro, she's my sister... my twin sister" he said in a low tone, "You need to relax — if you care so much about the handcuffs, ask her."

Zoro sighed and left, just as Law approached Luffy, probably to discuss the new entry as well. Meanwhile, the Sunny had sailed and Sanji was frenetically cooking, so that last detail meant the Party was still happening.

The weather drastically changed and everyone abandoned the heavy clothing. Zoro was still holding the handcuffs and he sat on the dock, waiting. He decided he would've confronted her. He didn't trust her — why would he?

Brooke was preparing to play and Franky was setting up fireworks. Zoro sighed and shook his head. He got up, tired of waiting, and reached the girls' bedroom, ready to knock. Just as he was about to, he heard a voice behind him.

"Looking for someone, sweetheart?"

Zoro turned around, narrowing his eyes.

Lucy had changed into some of Nami's clothes. Her tanned skin was mostly exposed. She was wearing one of those useless short tops that Nami loved so much, with long sleeves but made of a fabric so see through that it was almost like wearing nothing. At least, the fabric wasn't white but of a light mint green colour. Other than that, she was wearing a cover up that looked sort of like a skirt but tied on her side.

But Zoro didn't even notice the clothes or the way they suited her body. He was too focused on the number of scars that covered her body. On her arms, her legs, her chest, her abdomen, her neck. Everywhere. He furrowed his eyebrows. Was that the treatment in the Marines or was all of that courtesy of the Emperor? Enemies, perhaps?

As she saw him stare in silence, she smirked. "Like what you see?"

He ignored the comment and stared into her eyes. Then, he held up the Seastone handcuffs. "Why do you have these?"

Zoro saw her relaxed face change slightly. Her expression barely hardened and yet it was that noticeable.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" she said slowly.

Zoro remained silent, waiting for an answer.

"Shanks used to put them on me during training — I'm a Rogia" explained Lucy after a while, her cold eyes not leaving Zoro's, "He used to say that if I didn't know how to win a battle by using my swords alone, without my powers, then I wasn't cut out to be a swordswoman." Then, her gaze turned venomous. "Happy?"

Zoro gazed down at her, almost displeased with the answer. It was a reasonable explanation and yet he felt nervous. He wasn't satisfied, for some reason. "That's how you hurt yourself this way?"

Lucy furrowed her eyebrows, almost startled by the question, and Zoro froze. He really didn't mean to ask that. He had no idea how that came out of his mouth — what did he care, after all?

"Yes," she answered, after a moment. Then she cleared her throat and raised her eyebrow in a playful look. "But, you know, not all of my scars are from that. Some are from my time as a Marine. Some from when I was a kid. Some from battle."

Zoro tilted his head and stared for a few seconds. He studied her face. Her brown eyes mirrored Luffy's, except for the fact she had longer lashes. His brain kept registering more and more details. Full brows and high cheekbones. Straight black hair which framed her face and fell all the way down her back. Full lips and a straight nose covered with little freckles. Her cheeks, another thing she had in common with Luffy, were adorned by dimples. And, right under her eye, a scar just like her twin.

Before he could stop himself, Zoro grazed a finger over that scar. "What about this one?" he asked, almost abruptly, "It's just like Luffy's."

Lucy's gaze followed his finger and a mischievous smile appeared on her face. She liked the fact that he was interested — it was enough to lighten her bad mood. "Me and Luffy were idiots and we stabbed our own faces to convince Shanks we were tough enough to join his crew."

Zoro couldn't help but chuckle under his breath. "Sounds like something Luffy would do.

"I'd like to say I'm the responsible twin, but..."

Zoro was so caught up in the conversation he didn't even notice how close she was to his body.

"If he's the responsible twin," he said, scanning her whole face with his eyes, "then you're definitely bad news, doll."

Lucy smirked, slightly biting her bottom lip. "Bad news?" she repeated. She tried to ignore the way the pet name made the blood rush to her belly. She brushed her fingers on his chest and gazed up at him through her lashes.

Zoro held his breath for a second and took a step back, as he gave the handcuffs back. "Sorry about the 'cuffs" he said rather dryly, "They're throwing a party for you, so... catch'ya later."

Just as those words left his mouth, Brooke started playing and Lucy sighed, shrugging. She opened the girls' bedroom door enough to just throw the handcuffs inside, then she followed the music.

Hey sweeties!! I wanted to write more but I lost a ton of fucking progress by accident and I'll lose it if I have to write it again. I'll just post this part and pretend it never happened 😃. Next parts will be much much longer!!

Ahh I'm so sorry my memory is horrible and I'm bad at remembering to bookmark fics I like 🤧, but I can give you a few I've read recently that I've really enjoyed:

More than a portion of the night: Zosan Medieval AU that I read just recently that was very cute. I liked the characterizations a lot in the medieval context, I'm not usually a big person on aus but it still felt like the characters to me. Full of really memorable moments and one I'll definitely come back to read again.

Joy: You should read everything by @thequeenofsarcaasm imo but this was a short and sweet one that I really loved. It's Gojo's pov on Geto growing up as a trans teenager over the years and I really liked how Queen both captured the challenges that gender dysphoria can bring but also the outsider perspective with Gojo was really great, where Gojo can't help with everything but he is by Geto's side the entire way, it was very good highly recommend.

Because It's You: Another Zosan one and this one isn't finished yet, but it goes through various points in the series (I think so far it's been Arlong Park, post-Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark, and Punk Hazard) and shows their relationship developing over time. Love the moments they've picked out to explore between the two of them, great writing, and they make art of the scenes that they write as well, it's very good.

(This is all I've read recently </3 but I do love all of them!)

As for my username, I only came up with it a few months ago lmao. Was trying to find something more aligned with JJK or One Piece (more so JJK at the the time though). I went to the lyrics of ao no sumika, the third opening for JJK, and the chorus is 今でも青が棲んでいる, 今でも青は澄んでいる (The blue still lives there, the blue is clear). Originally tried for "ourclearblue" but it was taken, so came up with "theclearblue". It kinda worked out because I associate this username with both JJK and OP now, JJK because of the song and the "blue spring" while also the blue of One Piece's ocean as well, I guess more specifically the All Blue too.

I am indeed in my One Piece era!

Funny thing is, I started watching One Piece after watching the Live Action like a day after, so it was like 1st September I started my journey. And throughout it, I didn't like get the like hyperfixation.

Until Doflamingo showed up at Punk Hazard and I was like 😳. And then Dressrosa came and I fell in love with this pink feather coat wearing man. I love men who dress flamboyantly and who have self-confidence to do so. Makes them so incredibly charming to me. Also, Doflamingo's funny as hell. I cackled for 5 minutes straight to his reaction to Usopp. Are his laughs eerie? Yes. Are his smiles and laughs also cute as fuck? Yes. Yes, they are.

Anon, I didn't just watch Dressrosa. No, no, no no. I lived and BREATHED Dressrosa. I watched 57 episodes within 8 days. That was in February. I finished the arc within 2 weeks because I couldn't stop watching. Funny thing, I watched the entrance into Dressrosa on Valentine's Day. Entering the country of love and passion on Valentine's Day? Coincidence? I think not. It would be hilarious if the day actually was in universe Valentine's Day. Imagine getting your ass beat by a flip flop-wearing feral 19-year-old midget who calls you Mingo (that nickname is so fckn cute) who is fighting you because a girl bought him lunch... all on Valentine's Day. I'd never go out in public again. I felt bad for Doffy a bit. Ten years of work, destroyed in one single day because a stupid girl bought this rubber moron food. Anyway, I love Doffy so much, he's my husband 🩷😊 DRESSROSA FOREVAH!

I have now watched Ep 999 and have stopped watching cus I'm waiting for my Discord friends to catch up, so I'm taking a big break now.

Oh, fav chars! Man, there's so many. If I had to like pick besides Doffy, it'd be Luffy. He's so loveable, so funny, so cute, and I love that his design is very ordinary, with black hair and eyes, unlike the other protags who all have crazy colour schemes like purple hair or purple eyes or other vibrant colours. Luffy was genuinely a breath of fresh air to me. He... especially his sad moments/low points really hit hard with me, mostly because I've never seen emotions and the psychological toll and how they feel portrayed so well in fiction. Not only with Luffy, but especially with adult characters, too.

Luffy is my baby boy, he must be protected.

Other fav chars are: Sanji, Chopper, Jimbei, Law (he must be protected too, I was a sobbing mess after his backstory. I relate to Adult Law regarding personality, haha), my fire boy Ace 🔥, Robin, Shanks, Mihawk, Katakuri my donut boy 🍩, and Rosinante 💙.

For the Donquixote Pirates members I really liked Gladius. He was so cute as a spiky blowfish. Reminded me of a hedgehog, too.

Also, Fujitora! He and Coby are the only Marines I like and respect.

I feel flattered this is now called my One Piece Era. Makes it sound epic. Heck yeah, I'm in my One Piece Era! Yeaaaah!

Spoilers for chapters 655 onward and I guess c. chapters 110 to 130

Kinda realized why everything in the New World feels s o l o n g (aside from actual # of chapters per arc)

Every island follows directly from one to the other. There’s some sailing time I'm sure, but pretty much everything from Punk Hazard to Wano has been packed together (with the exception of the transition to Wano) as time sensitive.

How is it different from say the Baroque Works Saga (Whiskey Peak to Alabasta)? There was a time sensitive issue and a detour stop, too. The only thing I can think of is every time an arc (with Whole Cake Island as an exception) has thus far finished in the New World it’s to extend what started in Punk Hazard.

For comparison:

Whiskey Peak introduces the situation in Alabasta and Crocodile. There is a stop at Little Garden; this will effect future plot events (prominently through misinformation as regards Alabasta specially). Due to its climate, there is a detour to get a doctor. Then Alabasta! Conclusion & resolution!

Punk Hazard introduces both the samurai & Law’s take out Kaido plan (that was his original plan, right?). This manifest as (1) defeat Ceaser & stop production of smileys, (2) defeat Dolfamingo & destroy the smiley factories, (3) reconvene at Zou & make way to Wano, (4) defeat Kaido who has been the one commissioning the artificial devil fruit. Alongside this, the samurai want to (1) recuse a member from Dressrosa, (2) reunite on Zou, (3) return to Wano & defeat Orichi and Kaido & reinstate the Kozuki clan.

At each stage of the journey it’s (mostly) an intentional long term plan.

Anyway, this is a long spiel to say there doesn’t feel as if there’s as much inter-island voyage time. I’m sure there is and I respect that Wano is stuffed inside a very palatable sense of time, first with the earlier Straw Hats & Law waiting for the others to arrive and second with the impact of how much has happened while they were all isolated, BUT it’s harder to imagine the Straw Hats simply having downtime between islands despite the time sensitivity, with the exception of the voyage from Punk Hazard to Dressrosa. This is partly because they haven’t been together in awhile but also they have been following one specific plan (plot) since entering the New World. It has been fully intentional.

I’m not sure what my point is...

Melon, I hope this message is not too overwhelming for you.

I just wanted to say that I'm very grateful for all the content you have on your channel. I discovered your channel while I was working on a very stressful environment and dealing with depression. Every time I had to do overtime work and was up until 2 am trying to finish it, I put one of your videos and laughed through the stress. Even If I didn't know anything about Yu Gi Oh or One Piece, I was always super entertained by your analysis and opinions, and felt a little better.

I started reading One Piece (I'm on chapter 10) because of your videos and your analysis of the characters. (I know more or less what happened between the first chapters, Alabaster, Punk Hazard and Gear 5 BECAUSE I GOT SPOILED EVERWHERE JDSFHSDH)

TL;DR: Thank your for all your hard work and comedy, for your honesty and your kindness.

PS: You convinced me to not watch the Live Action too, but that's a plus (?)

AHHH please give the live action a chance yourself! I know I'm a negative nelly but it's because it's really just not for ME personally and I fully believe everyone should give different shows/movies a try just to see if it speaks to them instead! 🙏 There's no harm in looking, after all!

BUT thank you so much for this message, it really means a lot to me due to the fact both Yu-Gi-Oh and One Piece pulled myself out of a dark place too - One Piece especially came along at an incredibly numb, directionless time in my life and it truly uplifted me. I'm incredibly privileged to be in a position where I can talk about it for a living now and it means so much to me that my content is helping others as well. I hope I can continue to make content that improves your days and entertains you for a long time to come anon 💖
