modern au! Mizu when you injure your leg while walking back home with her.
“Get on,” Mizu demanded harshly, but with a tone laced with worry, after inspecting your wounds.
Flustered, you wave your hands defensively, “no, no, I.. I don’t need that, I’m fine, I’ll just-“ before you could reply, she quickly shifts herself closer to you, immediately forcing you up.
“I didn’t ask,” she snickered, huffing as she shifts your weight comfortable on her back.
Your cheeks heat up as your hands naturally snake around her neck. As embarrassed as you were, deep inside was a growing feeling of comfort. You were being carried by your girlfriend, a fucking dream. You punched her playfully on the shoulder to which she tightened her hold around your thighs and chuckled, “just relax goddamnit!.”
You tried to maintain this facade of annoyance, only to fail miserably. Resting your head on her shoulder, you stifle an obvious smile, “you sweet son of a bitch…”
The streets were devoid of people, nobody to witness the situation. You sighed, relieved that nobody was here to witness how vulnerable you were but equally disappointed, having anticipated for someone to comment at how cute the two of you looked. When you guys reach home, she tended to your wounds with a smirk, “you liked that, didn’t you?”
“Shut up.”

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGHDYEVFKFIDHCHDCJXCJXUXXISISJWGYWAAAAQTWKDLBF
i will be no longer screaming in moderation. i am now going to scream excessively. sorry for that.
THIS IS SO GOOD. this literally ascends any mortal comprehension of good. this is AMAZING.
i started reading it at like 4am because i have no self-control so my capability of comprehending stuff was greatly lowered due to my sleep deprivation, but i feel like if i had my full emotional range at my disposal while i was reading this i wouldn’t have survived. this is my favorite steddie fic now.
it’s just so sweet😭😭 and the characterization is so on point, but with a fun twist to it, because they actually act and feel like the barely-not-teenagers-anymore that they are. the fact that steve actually went to eddie to learn about dnd (i LOVE when this happens in fics), all of their interactions, the way eddie’s so silly and smitten with steve in such a real way. and when eddie thought steve stood him up, when he was thinking about that naive joy that he allowed himself for a short while despite knowing better being replaced by the bitter disappointment and the feeling of “i knew this would happen, what did i even expect” was described in such visceral way to me at least, because i know that feeling so well and have experienced it in absolutely the same way so many times so i was about ready to writhe on the floor while i clawed my heart of my chest. i am just-
AAAAAAAAAAAAA
anyway. and i already said here that i love an outsider’s perspective on what happens to steve from people who don’t know about the upside down and pre-canon meetings so this was just everything that i love and treasure but also so much more. i feel like i don’t even have the correct words to describe the way i feel about this fic anymore.
and eddie thinking his crush on steve was so hopeless while steve was literally crushing on him for several months already was so- aaarfwjdiveufoehwxhskdc. especially when eddie found out about it.
and eddie rushing to startcourt, terrified, when he found out it was burning down and taking care of steve and taking him home i’m just 😭😭😭. i can’t.
and i really loved the way they didn’t have this classic “oh my god there’s no way he’s not straight” thing going on, because when eddie asked him out to the fair he immediately assumed it was a date and steve ALSO knew it was a date and they didn’t have to go through a gajillion of painful conversations to figure out they’re on the same page. not that it’s bad when it goes like this, it’s also amazing and can be wonderful to read, but this version of their relationship just hits different.
also, the barmaid/blacksmith dnd fantasy nearly killed me dead. i was this 🤏 close to tearing up every time it was mentioned, and the way it wasn’t just a passing comment but became a thing for them just makes me AAAAARDJESFGDEGJKESN.
and this
just made me giggle, idk. literally don’t look at me, i am so Not Normal about this fic.
and it’s just funny how the previous fic i read has a pretty similar concept but i whined about not getting a continuation and not seeing how their relationship would pan out, and the next fic by this author that i read just immediately delivers. good fucking god.
anyway, sorry guys, but this is now officially a @keycarabiner fan page. if my discordant desperate screams haven’t already made that painfully clear, i am obsessed with this fic and i STRONGLY RECOMMEND reading it. if not for my sake, then for yours. 9357001126935831552368005336892950/10, go read this right now.

Say Yes
They saw it before the hero answered.
No. A simple word that could shatter the villain entirely if they weren’t quick enough to intercept.
“I see.” They said, rising from their kneeled position and snapping the box shut, the light from the shining ring dying.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, but we can’t.”
“Can’t or won’t?” The villain asked with a raised eyebrow.
“It isn’t like that!” The hero reached for the villain, but was left stranded when their counterpart stepped back. “It isn’t like that, Villain. I love you, I do.”
“Not enough to say yes.” They shot back, being sure to keep the distance.
It was just, wasn’t it? Of course it couldn’t happen, of course they would say no. A hero and a villain—it would never work.
“I’ll have my things out by tomorrow. We clearly don’t have the same goals anymore.”
“No, no!” The hero began to chase after the villain. “I don’t want your things out, I don’t want you gone!”
“We don’t always get what we want, Hero, if today was any indication.” They shrugged away each time the hero reached out to them.
“Believe me, I do want this, I want you for the rest of my life–”
The villain whipped around, hurt written across their features. “Then say yes!” They laughed. “If I have to beg…goodbye, Hero.”
“I’m not allowed!”
The villain stopped. “Not allowed?”
“To be married. To be in any sort of relationship, actually. I’ve been in breach of contract for the last few years.” The hero wiped away their tears quickly. “The most wonderful years of my life and I couldn’t tell anybody.”
Breach of contract?
The villain wished they could have been confused, but everything made sense, so much sense. All the closed off behaviors in public spaces, the way they shut down if they thought they heard a camera shutter, never visiting friends, even the way they compulsively closed the blinds.
They were going to lose their job as a hero if any sign of a relationship was seen.
“Hero.” they spoke softly, not knowing exactly how to feel.
Anger? Mild betrayal? Apologetic?
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I didn’t want you to feel like a secret. And if we were married,” They smiled at that, only to lose the feature just as quickly, replaced by mourning. “If we were married, nobody could know. I couldn’t have any big wedding with you, couldn’t invite my friends, family, couldn’t wear that gorgeous ring, and couldn’t legally record it. They have everything on me, all my personal documents, that would include a marriage license.”
This time, the hero succeeded in grabbing the villain’s hands. “I can’t marry you because I will lose everything.”
That mild betrayal roared to life, even as the villain gently caressed the hero’s face. “But me. You would lose everything but me.”
“And if I asked you to give up being a villain, to settle into civilian life, would you?”
They both stayed in their embraced position, still and silent, thinking.
“You’re right.” The villain conceded after a moment. “I’m sorry. Damn a marriage license to hell, Hero, damn a big wedding, damn the ring. Yes, I want to marry you and let the world know that you are my partner as I am yours.”
“Please say but.”
“But none of it really matters, so long as I have you with me.”
The hero let themselves melt into the villain’s arms.
“Alternatively,” they began, voice muffled. “Hypothetically, I mean. Say there were no contract, say any hero business suddenly turned free range, say a hero such as myself wasn’t connected to any organization.”
The villain started to laugh, only to realize that this hero in their arms was serious.
“Are you suggesting villainy? Please say yes.”
“Yes.” They drew themselves up again, staring their love in the eyes. “Yes to everything. Give me that ring. I want the biggest wedding of the century.”
If you like this post, consider buying me a Kofi?

Personal beef with one aspect of the game only: confused why the game seems to want you to gain Titus’ approval. It threw me for a loop when you’re given the option to invite him to be a cop.
This guy and his whole posse cold blood murder Harry and Kim both just for interrogating them. They admit to letting the pretty women go for crimes. They almost start a war because Titus has a thing for Klassje.
Like?? And I’m supposed to invite this dude to kick it with my organization? Hell no! I almost didn’t shake his hand, but thought it would be needlessly impolite in the circumstance. I think that guy is a loose canon.
I have a hard time reconciling the way Harry seems a little…fond? of him at the end.
Love to hear some other takes on this.
