Ok, but what if Crowley was an alligator and Aziraphale was an albino alligator, and they had a meetcute at the aquarium...

Over a year and a half ago me and Harry welcomed our little boy into the world. So far it's been incredible and I've enjoyed every minute of being his mum, even through the tough parts his little smile would make the hardships completely disappear in an instant. Harry is also an amazing dad, it's like he was born for the role. A few months ago Harry surprised me with a week long trip to Dubai, and what is our first holiday as a family of three. I was extremely excited and almost immediately called Faith to get advice on what I should pack for Ollie, which is what we ended up naming him.
We arrived two days ago and are already having the best time. Yesterday we spent all day at the beach then went for a nice dinner, in which Ollie slept in his buggy the entire time. Today we're going to the Dubai aquarium, getting some lunch and going shopping. I woke up to the sound of giggling, I pried myself from Harry's grasp and reached forward to grab the smiling baby from his travel cot. I placed him between me and Harry in the bed then drifted back off to sleep. I woke up an hour later, reached over to the nightstand and grabbed my phone to see a message from Harry saying he'd gone out to grab some breakfast from downstairs. I got up and took a picture of Ollie surrounded by the white fluffy bed sheets.

I quickly got dressed while Ollie slept and Harry soon came back with breakfast. When we were all ready we left the hotel to head to the aquarium. We rented a car the first day we arrived, since Ollie has to sit in a car seat plus we'll be spending much less on Ubers. I drove (since Harry despises driving) and we were soon parked outside.
Harry pulled the exited toddler from his seat, and we headed inside. Ollie seemed to be absolutely mesmerised by the sea creatures (especially the 'big scary sharks'). When we'd walked around the entire aquarium we left to go get some lunch since we were all hungry and Ollie was getting quite restless and in desperate need of a nap. We went back to the car to grab the buggy from the boot then walked to one of the nearby restaurants.
We sat down to eat our lunch as Ollie soundly slept. As me and Harry finished up our food Ollie woke up, now full of energy and hungry. We'd ordered him some plain chips so he ate them along with some fresh fruit. Which they seem to have lots of here, probably because of the hot weather.
Then we paid and made our way to Dubai mall, which thankfully has air conditioning. I happily looked through some shops while Harry followed me with the buggy. "Almost done?" Harry asked, very clearly bored. I turned around and shook my head jokingly "almost." I said with a smile. "M- mummy?" Ollie babbled. "Yes baby?" I replied squatting down in front of him. "I wanna go- the pool." He smiled. Harry chuckled and I glanced up at him "ok, let's go." I said and a look of pure excitement spread across his face.

When we arrived back at the hotel we got straight into our swimming costumes and headed down to the pool. We found some deck chairs and put our things down, then (after smothering Ollie in suncream) all three of us got into the pool.

Later... "I'm so lucky." Harry whispered, as we lay in bed and Ollie lightly snored in his cot. I smiled "you're so cute." He pulled me into a sweet kiss "I mean it, I'm so lucky to have you and Ol, I love you both so much." "And we’re so lucky to have you Haz."

Hi, can you write a scenario where Sanji founds his S/O (who is secretly an artist) staring the Aquarium's ceiling, and when he looks, he see that they painted a ocean landscape (like the All Blue) on it? I'm not good on explaining, but i think that would be a cute idea.
A/N: ALL THESE SANJI REQUESTS ARE MAKING ME FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM YOU GUYS NEED TO STOP!!! (jk you better not stop he deserves love)
Characters: gn reader x Sanji

A Painted Dream
Sanji hadn’t seen you in a few hours, and he began to grow worried. Once he finished cooking for Luffy and Usopp, his mission would be to find you.
The more he thought about it, the more concerned he became. You had been scarce most of the week, actually. He could really only remember seeing you for meals and for bedtime, which you came late to most nights.
“Luffy.” He handed over a plate of sandwiches for the captain. “Have you seen Y/N recently?”
Luffy hummed, thinking about the question while he ate. “I saw them at breakfast this morning,” he said with a mouth full of food.
“I saw them down in the workshop a few days ago,” Usopp offered.
Of course these idiots wouldn’t be any help. He lit a cigarette and started cleaning up, trying to think about your conversations over the past few days. You almost always showed up to meals late, and you always looked a little disheveled when you arrived. Whenever he went to serve you snacks you weren’t there, and he always got distracted by another crew member before he had time to find you. He hadn’t noticed it at the moment, but now that he was reflecting on it, your behavior had been kind of secretive lately.
He trusted you, of course, but he still felt uneasy. Moreso, he felt guilty that he hadn’t noticed it sooner and asked you about your day to know what you were doing in the first place.
He wandered the ship, trying to find you. He asked all his crew mates, but the only helpful info he got was from Franky, who said you borrowed a small scaffold a few days ago and hadn’t returned it yet, and you borrowed a ladder this morning.
There weren’t many places you could use a ladder inside the ship, so he checked the library first. He found Robin there, but not you.
“Try the aquarium,” Robin offered, turning the page of the book she was reading.
He wandered down to the aquarium and opened the door to find you standing before him. Your hair was pushed back in a bandana, and a variety of colored paint was smeared across your face and your arms. You were holding a palette in your hand and a paintbrush between your teeth while you stared upwards, focusing on something above you.
His eyes trailed up to see what you were staring at, and he let out a small gasp of shock. Fish from the North Blue to his right, the South Blue to his Left, the East Blue on the far side, and the West Blue above him, all swimming towards the center of the room. There, they intermingled freely, swimming amongst sea kings and other monsters you all had seen on your travels. He could feel tears welling up and he furiously blinked to clear them. He didn’t want to cloud his vision of such perfect artistry.
A sound at the door alerted you to a presence, and your eyes flicked over to see someone in the doorway. Tall, blonde, dressed to the nines. Sanji.
“No!” you cried, running over to him. “No! No! No!”
You reach him and throw your hands over his eyes, which were glued to the ceiling. “You can’t see it yet! It’s not done!”
He stood in front of you, still as a statue. Your hands were still over his eyes, and you could feel wetness beneath your fingers.
“Sanji?”
You opened your hands slightly so you could see his face, but kept them cupped so he couldn’t see the ceiling. He had tears streaming down his face as he looked at you.
“You made that painting?”
You nod sheepishly. “I was hoping to finish it before you saw it, though.”
He looked at you, surprised. “It’s not done yet? It’s-”
“Just adding the finishing details now. Making it perfect.”
“Can I sit here and watch you finish it?”
Your face made a pout. “You have to promise not to look until I say so.”
He laughed and took a seat in front of the fish tank. “I’ll keep my eyes on you.”
It was hard, but he did it. He desperately wanted to glance up at the painting, to be lost in the intricacies and name every fish he saw. But he waited until you gave him permission, and he kept his eyes on you the whole time. He watched as you squinted to see, huffed in frustration, and smiled in success.
After an hour or two, you nodded in satisfaction, and you turned to him. “Okay, you can look now.”
He strode over to you and wrapped you in his arms, and then the two of you looked up at the All Blue you had created.
“Just when I think you can’t surprise me, you go and do something like this.” He pulled his gaze away from the painting and smothered you with kisses, causing you to cry out in a fit of giggles.
“You really like it?” you ask, peering up at him.
“I love it. I love you.”
The two of you stood there, looking up at his dream until your necks were sore, and then you laid on the ground and kept looking up. You listened to him name each of the fish he saw, delightedly pointing them out like a child pointing out shapes of clouds on a sunny day, and thought about how you couldn’t wait for him to finally find the actual one.

Title: I’ll Be Proud For You - Quinn Hughes x ofc
Author: Tory / @tkwrites
Relationship: Quinn Hughes x Sarah Roberts (OFC)
Summary: When an opportunity for Quinn to meet her uncle arrives, Sarah jumps at the chance, and they attend a St. Patrick's Day party at her uncle's house on Salt Spring Island. On the ferry ride back home, Sarah finally explains why she had to be close to family after her mothers death, necessitating her move to Vancouver.
Warnings: Mentions of depression, grief, and meeting new family. Talks of suicidal thoughts and suicidal ideation. No attempts or methods are described or discussed.
Word Count: 5,600
Comments: I’ve been working on this fic for a long time. In many ways, it's extremely self-indulgent. I loved writing the banter between Sarah and her uncle Travis, and it was very healing for me to write about Sarah’s experiences after her mothers death.
Sarah’s experiences are very similar to the experiences I had after losing my father. My dad died three years ago in September, and I have not experienced any kind of suicidal ideation for over a year and a half. While I was in the thick of it, it felt like I was always going to be stuck in that darkness. The other side of that chasm is so beautiful and so worth the work it took to get here.
I was very lucky that I already had a therapist who could refer me to a specialist and friends and family who cared very deeply about me and my mental well-being. Seeing a psychiatrist to get on medication was one of the best decisions I ever made.
If you are having or have thoughts like these in the future, please, please talk to a friend and a professional to get help. The world is such a better place with you in it. xx
I’ll Be Proud For You
A Quinn & Sarah Snapshot
Sarah grabbed Quinn's wrist as he walked toward the kitchen. “Do you have plans for St. Patrick's Day?”
“I think Garly's having a party. Why?”
“My uncle Travis always hosts a dinner party since we’re Irish, and I wondered if you wanted to come with me.”
“Sure.”
A smile took over her whole face, and he was instantly glad he agreed.
Internally, though, his heart was racing. Her uncle was the closest family she had nearby. When she first moved to the city, she'd lived with him for a year. She still went to his house at least two Sundays a month. Quinn knew they were close.
At least he had three days to mentally prepare.
“It’s a bit of a drive - they live on Saltspring, so we have to take the ferry.”
“Just means I get to spend more time with you,” he said with a shrug. “Plus, I like it over there.”
Her smile got bigger, and he swore his knees got a little weak. God, what wouldn’t he do for that smile?
“Is there anything I should do to prepare?” he asked, sitting next to her.
“Just wear something green. And don't wear anything that says 'Kiss me, I'm Irish' unless you actually want to be kissed.”
“Wouldn't mind being kissed by you,” he said with a wink.
Laughing, she leaned over and obliged.
He instantly wished they weren't at the dining room table so he could lay her out and kiss her like he meant it.
A few minutes later, the nagging feeling of neglecting her studying won out, and Sarah pulled away. “I'm sorry,” she said, pulling her bottom lip into her mouth, “I really need to finish this. Give me thirty minutes?”
“Then you're mine for the night?”
She nodded.
“Okay.” He kissed her forehead and wandered to the kitchen to make dinner.
As she left school for the aquarium the next day, Sarah called her uncle Travis.
“Hey, Sar, how are you doing?”
“Good. How are you, Trav?”
“Great. Samson started crawling on Tuesday.”
“What? No.”
“Yep.”
“I refuse to believe he’s crawling already.”
“I know. It’s the worst. What’s up?”
“I just wanted to let you know I'm bringing someone with me on Sunday.”
“One of your roommates?”
“No, someone I'm seeing.”
He actually seemed to choke on whatever he was drinking and coughed a few times before asking, “I'm sorry, what?”
“We've been going out for a while, and I want him to meet everyone.”
“How long is a while?”
“Two and a half months.”
“And you were going to tell us when?”
“I was waiting to see how serious it would be.”
“And it's serious?”
“I think it’s headed that way. I want to see what you think of him.”
“What's his name?”
“Quinn.”
“How did you meet?”
“At the aquarium,” she said,  “he asked me out to lunch, and we've been dating ever since.”
“He lives in the city?”
“Yeah.”
“Is there anything I should know about him?”
“Just that I really like him. Please promise you won't embarrass me.”
“No can do. That's what uncles are for, but I can promise I won't pull out your baby pictures.”
“You don't even have my baby pictures.”
“Precisely. Otherwise, I probably would.”
Rolling her eyes, she asked what she could bring to dinner. After deciding she would bring the soda bread and butter, they hung up, and she sent the plan to Quinn.
Great. When should I pick you up?
I'm driving, so I'll come get you.
You have a car?
Technically, it's my uncles, but I haven't driven in forever, so I’m calling transportation on this one.
He laughed. Tocc canceled practice tomorrow so we can leave whenever.
I'll pick you up at 1 then?
What time is dinner?
5, but the drive over is 2 and a half hours, and I like to be there a little early to help out.
“Why does your uncle keep a car here?” Quinn asked as he buckled his seatbelt.
“I have parking included with my apartment, so it just made sense. I drop it off at the Ferry terminal once or twice a month for Trev when he has to come to the mainland for work.”
“I didn’t know that. Let me know next time and I’ll give you a ride home.”
She shot a grateful smile at him before looking back to the road.
It was a strange thing for Quinn to be a passenger. He was usually the one driving, and rarely got the chance to watch her for such a long period of time uninterrupted.
He was taken with her. With the constellation of freckles on her cheeks and the button of her nose, and the round swell of her bottom lip. He wondered if anyone would notice if they just made out on the ferry ride over. She didn’t have tinted windows. Probably not the best idea.
She was wearing the same green dress she’d worn when Brady came to town. It still looked beautiful and soft, and he still couldn’t stop the fantasies of stripping it off her from clouding his mind.
“How was your morning?”
“Fine.” he scrubbed his hands over his face, “It’s nice to have a day off.”
“I bet,” she said, reaching over to entwine her fingers with his.
They held hands until they hit traffic and she had to get back to the gear shift.
He’d never driven a manual transmission, and he was impressed by her seamless shifting, despite the fact that she was a bit of a terrifying driver. He found himself reaching for the door handle more than once as she weaved in and out of traffic and went a little too fast for his liking.
“How was your day?” he asked to distract himself.
“Good. I did some reading and finished up some assignments I’d put off from earlier in the week.”
“I didn’t know you were capable of putting things off,” he teased.
She snorted and threw him a sarcastic look.
“You’re so organized, I didn’t think you could.”
Quinn had seen her planner once. It was the size of a college notebook with a column for every day of the week. Each of her classes was assigned a different color, and every day was an organized riot: hours blocked for class, work, assignments, tests, and readings to be completed. He didn’t know how she got it all done. He was exhausted just reading it. Then, he’d smiled when he realized he was there. She had all his games and their plans and dates written in sparkly blue ink.
“I still miss things. Sunday is my catchup day,” she explained. “Usually, I sleep in and do my homework on the ferry over and back, but I wanted to have it done early so I could spend the time with you.”
“It would have been okay,” he said.
The smile she gave him made his heart patter against his lungs. That, along with a stop so sudden, the seatbelt engaged to snap him back, made it a little hard to breathe.
“Thank you, but I would rather spend this time with you.”
His heart warmed at the gesture, and her willingness to give up her one morning to sleep in to spend time with him.
Once on the ferry, they stayed in the car and talked instead of going up on deck. He told her about practice and trying to push aside his nerves about making the playoffs, “Everyone keeps talking about it like it’s a guarantee.”
“Well, you are second in the league.”
“Yeah, but so much could change. I don’t want to get my hopes up, and the media asks about it practically every day. I’m getting so tired of telling them, ‘that’s what we’re aiming for, and we have a group that can get there.’” He threw his voice into a self-depricating, exaggerated version of itself.
Despite her attempt to stifle it down, a giggle spilled out of her mouth. “I think they’re probably asking because it’s going to happen.”
“We don’t know that. Demmer’s out, and we haven’t been doing great…” he trailed off.
“You’re still first in the Pacific by almost 10 points, Quinn. Can’t you celebrate that for a minute?”
He sighed, “it’s just… so much can change in a month, and I don’t want to be the guy who talks about how good it will be to play in the playoffs only to have his team not make it. I’d be a laughing stock on the internet for the rest of time and a lesson to all other captains to not jinx it.”
“I’d never considered it that way.”
He made a noise of ascent in his throat.
“You can celebrate it with me, though, right?” she asked, lacing their fingers together.
Quinn wanted to agree, he really did, but the superstitious part of his mind went to war against it. The result was a kind of half-hearted grimace.
Laughter burst from her. “Fine, fine. You don’t have to talk about it. I’ll just be proud for you,” she said, bringing his hand to her mouth so she could kiss his knuckles.
His stomach did a jerking little jig, and a real smile spread over his face.
Eventually, their conversation turned to her uncle.
“Trav is a sound engineer, and he toured with Brooks & Dunn for a long time. He moved to Vancouver because he said it’s the most beautiful city he’s been to.”
“I would agree with that,” Quinn said.
“Now he stays at home with their kids. Trevor is a copyright lawyer.”
“Oh, your uncle’s gay,” he said with a spark of understanding.
“Is that a problem?” Sarah asked, raising her brows.
“No, of course not. I was just confused. You mentioned Trav and Trev, and I wasn’t sure if I was hearing his name wrong or what.”
When they pulled off the ferry, Sarah turned onto a small two lane road, running away from town. It didn’t look like anything was out here except forest and pebble beaches.
Sarah had an incredible inherent sense of direction - the kind he had to rely on his phone GPS for - so he knew they weren’t lost, but he couldn’t see anything that looked remotely like civilization.
When they turned onto a small driveway tucked right into the woods, drove up a hill, and pulled in front of a home that looked more like a cabin than a house, Quinn wasn’t too shocked.
“What a view,” he said as they got out of the car.
Despite the drizzly weather, the horizon was still stunning. The gray blue water of the Salish Sea seemed to melt into the rolling, gray clouds, making them indistinguishable except where pine covered islands rose out of the water, vibrantly green against all the neutral colors. The city skyline cut a dark, jagged edge across the water. If the commute wasn’t so long, he would live out here, too.
“I know, right?” she said, picking up a tote bag and taking his hand to lead him up to the front door.
“Hey Trav,” she said, embracing him as soon as the door was opened. “Trav, this is Quinn. Quinn, this is my uncle Travis,” she introduced when they broke apart
Other than the fact that he had her same bright blue eyes, her uncle didn’t look anything like he’d expected. Quinn had braced himself to meet a middle-aged man who was around his dads age. Instead, Travis looked no more than ten years older than Sarah. The oldest looking thing about him was his gray hair, which was casually swept back in that effortless way Quinn’s hair could never quite manage. He wore jeans and a green band t-shirt without socks or shoes. His toenails and fingernails were painted various shades of green.
“It's nice to meet you, sir,” Quinn said as they shook hands. If he wasn’t so used to seeing it, he would have missed the way Travis’s eyes widened slightly in recognition.
“Just call me Travis,” he said with a snort, trying to cover his shock. “No one has ever called me, sir in my life. Come on in.”
Trying to catch her eye as they passed, Travis wondered how, when he’d asked if there was anything he should know about this guy she was bringing, Sarah didn’t think the fact that he was Quinn Hughes was something he ought to know. She didn’t notice, and he dropped it before Quinn did.
“Beara!” a little girl yelled as she ran toward them. “Beara! Beara!”  She had curly pigtails, each tied with a green bow that flopped as she ran.
“Sawyer!” Sarah caught her before they collided, picking her up and swinging her around. “I missed you,” she said, pulling the little girl against her chest.
Putting her hands on Sarah’s cheeks, she said, “missed you more.”
When she noticed Quinn, she turned her face away from him and put her thumb in her mouth, suddenly shy.
“Sawyer, this is my friend, Quinn,” she said, turning so they could make eye contact.
“Hi, Sawyer,” he said. “I like your ribbons.”
She smiled around her thumb at him. She had those same bright blue eyes, though they were slightly wider than Travis or Sarah’s.
“What do you say to that?” her father coached gently.
“Thank you.” she didn’t take her thumb out of her mouth when she said it, so it was a little garbled, but he got the idea.
Sarah set her down, and she ran back to the kitchen, squealing when Travis chased her down the hallway.
“Beara?” Quinn asked, humor in his eyes as she took his hand, following after them.
“My whole life, my nickname has been Sar Bear. When she was younger, Sawyer had a hard time saying her S’s, so she started calling me Beara instead of Sarah, and it just kind of stuck.”
He snorted, “oh god, the guys are going to have a heyday with that.”
“With what?”
“You know how they call me Huggy Bear sometimes?”
She nodded.
“Huggy Bear and Sar Bear?” He snorted, “I mean, come on.”
The house, while rustic on the outside, was homey on the inside. Neutral gray walls and a modern, light kitchen. It seemed the whole back half of the house was made of glass, giving a perfect view into the misty forest. It was beautiful, but Quinn wasn’t sure he’d want to be here at night to see what came out of those woods.
Sarah was laughing as she entered the kitchen, hand in hand with Quinn. The shock of Quinn Hughes being in his house, of Quinn Hughes dating his niece, who had always been more of a little sister to him, still had him reeling.
Even through that startling revelation, Travis wasn’t sure if he’d ever seen her so relaxed and happy since her parents died. The protective part of him held himself back from reading too much into it. The last thing Sarah needed in her life was more heartache.
“Quinn, this is my uncle Trevor.”
“It’s nice to meet you. I’d shake your hand, but I’m a little busy,” he said, gesturing to the meat he was fishing out of a marinade. “I hope you like beef stew.”
“Sounds great.”
“And this,” Sarah picked a pudgy little boy up from his high chair, “is Samson.”
Quinn held a hand out to the little boy, who wrapped his tiny fingers around one of Quinn’s as he smiled and babbled. Samson looked more like Trevor. He had dark curly hair, dark eyes, and smooth olive skin. Quinn wondered if each of them had fathered an embryo for a surrogate.
“Can I get you a beer?” Travis asked.
“Sure.”
“We only have Guinness today.”
“I wouldn’t expect anything else. It’s the Irish way, right?”
Laughing, he handed the can off to Quinn before turning to Sarah. “Hey, can you help me find the barley?”
He knew he was being obvious as he pulled her into the pantry, but he hoped this was a little less obvious than pulling her back into the living room would be. At least he had an excuse for her help this way.
As he shut the door behind them, he heard Quinn ask, “is there anything I can help with?”
Travis clicked the light on. They were standing nearly chest to chest in the tiny room, baby Samson squished between them. He didn’t seem to mind as he continued to babble, reaching out for the brightly colored packages.
“You didn’t tell me you were dating Quinn Hughes!” he hissed.
“You know who he is?”
“Everyone in this entire province knows who Quinn Hughes is, Sarah.”
“I didn’t when we met.”
“That doesn’t surprise me.”
“Why not?” If she didn’t have a baby in her arms, she would have folded them over her chest.
“You’re too busy learning stuff to pay attention to things like that. He was all over the news for three weeks when they put him in as Captain this fall. Plus, you only care about football.”
“I do not. Well, not anymore, at least,” she said, catching Samson’s hand before he could pull a box of pasta off the shelf. “Anyway, why does it matter that he’s Quinn Hughes?”
“He’s - I mean,” Travis blew a harsh breath out of his nose. “When you said you met at the aquarium, I thought he was some guy who works there, not the captain of the fucking Vancouver Canucks!”
“He's just a guy, Trav. He just happens to play hockey for a living.”
His mouth opened and closed as he seemed to realize he couldn't argue against that point. “He’s a pro athlete, Sarah.”
“So?”
“So, they’re gone all the time, and the money fucks with their heads and pretty soon they’re all cheating on their partners.”
One of her eyebrows arched up, “do you only watch reality TV, or do you sometimes deviate to Lifetime?”
Despite himself, he laughed. “I just mean,” he paused, glancing down at his green fingernails. Sawyer had insisted on painting them and pulled out every shade of green polish in the house, determined to use them all. “I don’t want you to get hurt. He treats you well?”
“Yes. Very well. I wouldn’t keep dating him or bring him to meet you if he didn’t. He's actually the best guy I've ever dated,” she added.
Travis's eyebrows shot into his gray hairline.
“Just spend some time with him. You'll see. He’s really thoughtful and nice.”
“Okay, but I’m having a talk with him by the end of the night.”
“No.”
“Listen, I just need to make sure he’s good enough for you.”
“Don’t you think that’s something I can decide for myself?”
“I’m just going to have a chat with him, man to man. You’re the one that wanted to know what I think of him,” he said. “It's happening whether you like it or not. I'm just letting you know.”
She rolled her eyes. “Fine, but don’t embarrass me. And none of that asking for permission bullshit. I'm not a possession.”
“Dont insult me,” Travis chided, smiling, loving seeing pieces of his oldest sister in Sarah. He was glad Becky had instilled those same, strong feminist values in her children. “Of course he doesn't need permission. I just care about you.”
“Thanks, Trav,” she said, touched.
He pulled her into a hug, smooshing Samson between them more. He let out a tiny grunt.
“Here, take your baby,” she said, handing him off and grabbing a box of cookies as an alibi as she left.
If Quinn thought anything was suspicious, he didn't let on, continuing to chop the lettuce Trevor had set him to preparing.
“Teddy Graham?” Sarah asked, offering the box as she stood next to him at the long island.
“Sure.”
“Hey Sar, we were thinking about coming into the city for your birthday. I have to be in that day for a few meetings, so Trav was going to bring the kids on the ferry. Do you think that would work? We thought we could take you to dinner.” Trevor said, looking up from braising the beef.
“Yeah, I would like that,” she said with a big smile.
As he walked back into the kitchen, Travis caught Quinn’s wide-eyed expression.
“When’s your birthday?” he asked, tipping the lettuce into a bowl.
“On April third.”
He gulped. It was a gesture Travis immediately recognized as a man grappling for a purchase with new information.
Quinn pulled out his phone and quietly breathed, “we’re in Arizona that day.”
“I know,” Sarah said with a smile that tried but didn’t totally succeed in covering her disappointment.
Something about it made Travis’ hackles rise. Quinn wasn't actively hurting her, but his lifestyle was.
Quinn saved her birthday in her contact card and put his phone back in his pocket. “I guess we’ll celebrate when I get back.”
“That would be nice,” she said with a smile that was genuine this time.
Travis got her a can of Guiness, and she wrinkled her nose. “Can I have whiskey?”
“You hate whiskey.”
“I’d rather it than this tar,” she said, pushing the can back to him. “At least whiskey can be mixed into something palatable.”
“Here here,” Trevor said, laughing.
Travis mimed pulling a knife out of his chest. “You’ve insulted our ancestors, Sarah.”
“Listen, the Irish invented a lot of really great things: boycotts, modern chemistry, the stethoscope, the submarine,” she said, counting them off on her fingers.
Quinn gave her a surprised look.
“I did a presentation on Irish inventions in high school,” she explained, flipping her hands, “the point is, is that their alcohol is not one of them.”
Travis laughed, taking the can for himself. “You want a ginger highball then?”
She beamed, “I think you know the answer to that.”
“What is that?” Quinn asked.
“It’s whiskey and ginger ale. It’s delicious.”

Before other guests arrived, Travis asked Quinn if he'd like to see the vintage shelby Mustang he was restoring.
Quinn agreed and gulped when Trevor asked if Sarah could help him find Sawyer. This was one of those talks. He shoved his hands in his pockets and followed her uncle out to the garage.
“Listen,” Travis said after they admired the beautiful white car, “Sarah isn't my daughter, but she means a hell of a lot to me, and I want to make sure she’s not going to get hurt. She’s gone through enough heartache already.”
Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, Quinn licked his lips before responding, “the last thing I want is to cause her more pain. I know she’s been through too much. I don’t know that I can guarantee she’ll never get hurt, but I can say that I would never hurt her intentionally.”
“Do you think your job will get in the way?”
“The travel definitely takes a toll. But I really like Sarah, and I think we have a lot of potential.” Times like these, he was glad for all of his media training. Not that this was anything like a press conference, but they did get him used to thinking fast and answering hard questions.
“She’s not really a model NHL girlfriend.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Quinn demanded, barely keeping a glare off of his features.
“Just that most of your lot date models that don’t have normal jobs and aren’t in school,” Travis said, fighting to keep a smile off of his face. That defensiveness answered a lot of his questions.
“Yeah, I suppose that’s true,” he agreed, biting down the urge to correct him. Most of his teammates were married to their high school or college sweethearts. “I like that Sarah has her own stuff and that she’s so independent. Before I met her, I dated a girl like you described, and I was always a little worried about what she was doing while I was on the road. I don't ever get that with Sarah.”
“What do you do on the road?”
“Mostly, I sleep or hang out with the guys. We don't have as much free time as people think.”
Travis was still looking at him appraisingly over the hood of the car. Had he not been exposed to Sarah’s blue, blue eyes, he would have found her uncles stare incredibly intimidating.
“Look, Sir - Travis,” he corrected quickly, “I really -” he stopped himself, not wanting to say that to her uncle first. “I really like Sarah, and we really get along. I know it’s not an ideal thing for me to be on the road during the season, but it seems to be working well so far. I want to be with her, and if she’ll let me, I’d like to be in her life for a long time. I just want to make her happy.”
Travis nodded. “What’s your favorite thing about her?” It was a question his mother-in-law asked him when he met her. It wasn’t until this moment that he realized what a telling question it was.
“She treats me like a normal person,” Quinn admitted. Even though he knew it made him sound conceited, it was his favorite thing about her. She’d never treated him like anything else than a normal guy. “And she’s interesting and easy to talk to and really respectful to people around her.”
“Okay,” Travis said, nodding, glad to see Quinn saw the same things he did. “Okay.” His face split into the natural smile he’d given Sarah when he first opened the door. “I can see why she likes you.”
Despite his attempt to stay cool and collected, Quinn felt a blush splash onto his cheeks as relief relaxed his shoulders.
“I'm not going to say I'll kill you if you hurt her, but just know she has me and Trevor in her corner.”
Quinn smiled, “I get it. I would want to hurt anyone who hurt her, too.”
The dinner party was small - no more than 10 people, and only one of them, their friend’s teenage son, Jace, gawked when he walked in to see Quinn in the kitchen. Quinn took it in stride and talked shop with Jace for a while before dinner was served and he took his seat next to Sarah, who had been watching him with a secret, proud kind of smile on her lips.
Halfway through the night, Travis looked over at them to find Quinn watching her as she talked with someone, with this quiet, infatuated look on his face. A few more of his fears were put to rest.
As he stood at the kitchen sink with his niece, drying the pots and pans she was washing by hand, he leaned closer to her, “I can see what you see in him,” he said, conspiratorially.
“See,” she said, nudging her shoulder into his as she handed him a knife, “I told you.”
“How did you manage going to school from here for a year?” Quinn asked as they pulled onto the ferry for the ride home.
“When I lived with them, they lived in the city. They needed to move into a bigger house when Samson was born. By that time, Trevor was working from home most of the time, and I was okay to live with roommates. So, I moved into the apartment I'm in now, and they moved onto the island.”
He waited until the car was parked before asking, “what do you mean you were okay to live with roommates?”
She pulled in a heavy breath. It was bound to come out eventually. May as well tell him while they had a solid hour and a half boat ride to talk about it.
“After my mom died, I really struggled.”
“Wouldn’t anyone?” Quinn asked.
Sarah pushed the seat back to give her enough room to turn and face him. Her right knee pressed up against the center console. She needed to be looking at him when she said this.
“I mean… I really,” she paused, trying to find the right words. “I remember I flew back to Hawaii a week after the funeral, thinking it was going to be so nice to get back into my routine, but I had this massive gulf in front of me and a literal ocean between me and my family. My roommates were kind of party animals, and they had no idea how to support me, and I had broken up with Kaleo, my boyfriend, before I left because he didn't want anything to do with her funeral or my grief. It felt like no matter where I was, I was just so…alone.”
It felt like someone was reaching down Quinn's throat and wringing his heart.
“I called my sister one day - I think I woke her up, which was really shitty because she had a six month old who was teething.” She laughed a little, but there was too much sadness in it for it to be convincing.
“Anyway, I called her crying because I…I started having these really intense thoughts about killing myself.”
A steep breath stuck in his lungs. He wasn’t totally sure what he thought she would say, but he hadn’t expected that.
“She flew out to be with me, and I moved home two days later. Just packed everything up and left. I didn’t even tell my boss - I was still on FMLA for the funeral, and she had to call me when I didn't show up to work the next Monday.”
“Did you ever…” he trailed off, not wanting to say it out loud.
“Attempt?”
He nodded, and Sarah shook her head, “no, but the thought of it was really terrifying. Like, I saw for the first time how someone could get into that headspace where they might take their own life. I just remember ruminating on those thoughts and thinking, ‘I don’t wanna die.’” She pressed the heel of her hand under her eye to catch some of the tears that slipped.
“How did you get out of it?” Perhaps she was just really good at hiding it, but she didn’t seem that depressed in all the time he’d known her.
“I stayed with my sister for the next nine months. I got on some meds and started seeing a therapist and a psychiatrist, and we talked through what was bringing those thoughts up.”
“What do you mean?”
“I’d already gone through the grief process with my dad, so I knew how awful it was. I never expected to have to go through another big death while I was still single. I thought by the time my mom died, I would have a consistent partner in my life - maybe even a family - and I just kept thinking, ‘I don’t want to do this again.’”
Quinn wanted to go back in time and make it better. Somehow make sure they met before she was in the city so he could be there for her when it all happened.
“Anyway, my psychiatrist told me our brains are basically just big problem solvers. You give it a problem, it wants to fix it. So when I kept telling myself, ‘I don’t want to do this again,’ my brain was just coming up with the swiftest solution for me to not have to do it again. When I changed the way I was thinking about it and started giving myself some more grace, those thoughts lessened a lot.”
God, she was even stronger than he thought.
“Even with all that stuff, I still really wanted to go to grad school, and my therapist and my psychiatrist agreed that it was best for me to have a goal to work toward, even if it meant moving away from home. I was really scared that if I moved out totally on my own, those feelings would come up again, and no one would be around for me to talk to about them, and I might hurt myself. But I couldn't study the ocean in Nevada. My brother actually suggested UBC and living with Travis. I called him to see what he thought. I hadn't even applied, but I didn't want to if I didn't have a plan for when I got in. I pitched that I could be a nanny of sorts when I wasn't in school. They told me they’d love to have me stay with them. I applied and by some miracle was accepted on the first try, and the rest is history,” she said, shrugging.
“Do you…” he paused, not totally sure how best to ask this. “Do you still think about it?”
She shook her head, “not much anymore. Every once in a while, it comes back when a big grief marker comes up, or I get really, really stressed or anxious, but the thoughts are always  really fleeting.”
Even though it meant the console was pressing into his stomach, and she was pitched back slightly, Quinn leaned over to gather her against him. “I can’t believe how strong you are.”
“It’s not like I had any other choice.”
“Clearly you did,” he said, reluctantly settling back into his seat.
“I didn’t,” she said, voice quiet but firm. “There was no way I was going to put my family through another death, and like I said, I didn’t want to die. I wanted to not be in pain anymore, and those are very different things.”
“I just think you should be proud of yourself, that’s all.”
“I mean, I am proud that I got out of it, and proud that I know how to ask for what I need now, but being strong in the face of death is just something you have to do. There’s no way out but through.”
“Fine,” he said, repeating her action from earlier and bringing her knuckles to his lips, “I’ll be proud for you.”

There was someone in your room. It was the middle of the night, and you’d woken with a start, acutely aware of a shuffling sound, as someone closed the door and stepped into your space.
Slowly, trying not to make a sound, you slid your hand underneath your pillow and gripped the hilt of the dagger you kept there. Your heart raced, blood roaring in your ears as they strained to listen for any sign of the intruder getting closer to the bed where you laid. The living quarters were so small though, and with the door only a metre or two from your bed, you knew it was a matter of seconds before they were on you. Sliding the knife out from under the pillow, you tightened your shoulders and prepared to leap out of bed, until a soft voice spoke your name in the darkness.
Your eyes shot open, and you strained to see her through the black void. But you’d know that voice anywhere. You heard her say your name every night in your dreams, and woke up every morning to the crushing reality that it hadn’t been real. That it would never be real again. But that voice… it was undeniably her.
“Abby?” you breathed, sitting up warily.
You fumbled for the lamp beside your bed and tugged the string quickly, soft yellow light flaring around you. And there she was. That all too familiar angular face and strong arms. Long braid hanging over her shoulder, just the way you remembered. Dirt coated her skin, clothes damp from the downpour of rain that you could hear raging outside your window. Cuts and bruises littered her face, harsh scrapes marring the skin that you loved so dearly.
It had been months since you’d last seen her; since the group of them had headed off to Wyoming to find… him. And she’d been back at the base since, but you’d avoided her like the plague. Couldn’t bear to see her, after the way things had been left between the two of you. And then a few days ago, she was gone again. It was all anyone could talk about; how Abby Anderson had fled the base and was out searching for Owen… how they were both traitors to the cause.
Her blue eyes were red rimmed and bloodshot, and your heart panged with nervousness. She didn’t dare say another word, gaze trained on the knife you still held in your grasp, pointed out in her direction.
“What the hell are you doing here?” you asked warily, feeling your hand begin to shake. “How did you even get inside? Fuck, Abby, Isaac has everyone looking for you, he… he’s saying you’re a deserter.”
Abby shook her head slowly, face slack with an expression of hopelessness. “I’m sorry… I didn’t know where else to go.”
With an ache in your chest, you lowered the weapon, knowing you could never bring yourself to use it on her anyway. Her shoulders relaxed, and she shrugged off her pack. It hit the ground with a sharp clatter, and you noticed a bloodied axe clipped to the side of it. She slumped down on the edge of your bed, and the frame creaked with the added weight.
“He interrogated me, you know,” you shuddered. “After you went after Owen. Was convinced I was a part of it, that I kne-“
“Isaac is gone,” she interrupted quickly, not meeting your gaze.
You stared, eyes widening a fraction, and slowly asked, “What the fuck happened?”
“Owen and Mel too,” she said hoarsely, staring down her at her hands. “They’re… I found them, in the aquarium. Both of them... she killed them.”
All the breath in your lungs rushed out, leaving you lightheaded. “W-what?” you stuttered. No.
“It’s her,” she ground out, eyebrows pinched together. “She knows who we are and she’s… she’s fucking picking us off, one by one.”
Shaking your head desperately you rubbed a knuckle into the corner of your eye, willing the brimming tears to dry as you absorbed all the information. You knew this would happen. You fucking knew there would be consequences, and yet she didn’t listen. She never fucking listened.
“Who are you talking about?”
“The girl,” she chuckled mirthlessly. “The girl that was with the smuggler. And his brother.”
It felt like the walls were closing in on you as you stared at her. The woman you’d loved for so long, who’s bed you’d once shared, who you’d held while she told you stories of her late father. The women who’d chosen revenge over a life with you... just to come crawling back in the middle of the night.
“What are you doing here?” you repeated, voice shaky and thick with emotion. “Why did you come back?”
“I needed to see you,” she whispered, finally glancing over to you. Her eyes shone brightly in the dim light of your room, and you could see the tears that stained her cheeks, the tracks they’d left through the dirt on her skin. “Things are bad, and I don’t… I don’t know if I’m gonna make it through this. I needed to see you, just one last time.”
“Abby,” you choked out, pushing forward to rest on your knees, hands hovering over her face as you contemplated touching her. You knew that if you touched her, all the progress you’d made, all the efforts you’d gone to in order to try and get over her, would be out the window. “Please,” you breathed heavily, shoulders shaking. She leaned forward so her cheek brushed your fingers and your face crumpled, allowing your hands to rest on her face, thumbs brushing along her skin.
“Please don’t do this, I can’t fucking do this again. I told you,” your voice cracked, thumb pausing on her freckled cheekbone. “I fucking told you nothing good would come from going after him. But you couldn’t just…”
“I’m sorry,” her eyes screamed in earnest. “I can’t… I couldn’t keep going without coming back here to say that. You were right, and I’m sorry, but there’s no turning back now. There’s no undoing this. She knows who I am, and she’s coming for me, but… but I’m gonna find her first, and I’m gonna make her pay for what she did to them.”
“How?” your eyebrows raised incredulously. “Abby, you’re alone, you can’t-“
“I’m not alone,” she said coldly, and you froze, staring at her in confusion.
“Abby,” you said quietly, shaking your head. Your hands dropped from her face. “You can’t be serious… it-it’s true? They said Owen killed Danny to save one of them…. are you with the Scars?”
“No,” she sighed in frustration. “He’s not a Scar anymore, he- he saved my life, and I trust him.”
“I can’t hear this,” you frowned deeply, lip curling up at her words. “You know I never wanted any part in this. If they find out you were here, they’ll lock me up, they’ll fucking interrogate me for information, Abby, I’ll lose my position. Don’t tell me anything else.”
“I know, I know, I’m sorry,” she replied quickly, reaching up to rub her shoulder. She massaged the muscle firmly, fingertips dragging across her skin in a circular motion as she cringed.
“You’re hurt,” you murmured grimly.
“It’s nothing,” she shook her head. “I fell in Wyoming.”
“You’re a shit liar,” you grunted, nudging her thigh with your foot. She grabbed it, quick as a snake, her fingers curling around the arch of it and holding it to her thigh. Your face softened, and you frowned gently at her.
“I’ll go,” she whispered, meeting your eye. “I just… I wanted to be with you, just for a minute. Needed to see you. I couldn’t leave things the way they were; couldn’t have the last time I saw you be that.”
That day, weeks before, flashed through your mind. The two of you, in the very same room, glaring at each other.
“If you go, this is over,” you’d told her. “I mean it Abby, don’t fucking do this. Nothing good will come from it. It won’t bring him back.”
“I’m going,” she’d shouted. “And they’re coming with me. Owen, Manny, all of them. They want what I want. And I thought you wanted it too.”
“Well, you thought wrong,” you’d said. “I’m not going. Why can't this be enough for you? To stay here, with me, and just forget about him?”
Wiping a tear from your cheek, you nodded slowly, leaning in so your shoulder rested against hers.
“I’m sorry,” you murmured softly. You didn’t stop her as she leaned in, resting her forehead against yours, and tilted her chin up so your lips brushed. Shaky breaths escaped your mouths, mingling in the air between your faces. Not for a long time had either of you been nervous around one another. So unsure, so hesitant… Pushing the thoughts aside, you kissed her firmly, ignoring the way your heart cracked as the familiar taste of her hit your lips. “I’m sorry,” you repeated against her mouth, and she whimpered, gripping your face gently. You despised the way your body reacted to such a small touch from her; the way your shirt was suddenly too tight around your torso, the way your underwear suffocated the warmth between your thighs. She was intoxicating, overriding every rational thought in your mind until all you could think was Abby, Abby, Abby.
You fell backwards onto the bed, pulling her down with you, until her warm heavy weight rested against your chest. Her knee worked its way in between your thighs, pressing you down into the mattress. You clutched at her back, kissing her desperately, face still wet with tears. Her lips pressed longingly to yours, soft pants escaping her mouth as she pushed your head deeper into the pillows, holding you down and stealing the breath from your lungs. Your head was swimming, and you shivered at the feeling of her wet clothes dragging along your skin. She pulled back from the kiss with a gasp, tucking her face into your neck as she caught her breath. A soft kiss pressed against your pulse point and you sighed, closing your eyes and relaxing into her touch. She whispered something against your skin, but you couldn’t make out the words.
The sound of rain battering against the window filled the space with white noise as the pair of you laid in your small bed, limbs tangled together. Abby’s fingers stroked your cheek softly, and she pulled back to look at you, eyes watching you so intensely you could’ve sworn she was trying to memorise your features.
After a few moments, a soft sigh escaped her lips. “I have to go,” she whispered, eyebrows furrowing, and the crack through the middle of your heart deepened. She saw the look on your face and gave you a forlorn smile. “It took me half a day to get here,” she admitted sullenly, pressing a soft kiss to the corner of your mouth. “I’m sorry.”
You watched as she rose, stretching out her shoulder again before reaching down to grab her pack. She towered over the bed as she looked down at you one last time. Fat, hot tears brimmed on your lower eyelashes as you watched her turn toward the door.
“Please,” you whispered to her back in the dim light, seeing her shoulders tense, head turning a fraction to glance at you from the corner of her eye. “Stay. We can figure this out, I… I’ll convince them to let you stay. Just please, don’t leave me again. Don’t do this.”
“I have to see this through,” she said quietly, in a tone that left no room for argument. Tears dripped down your face and onto your pillow, leaving wet patches in their wake. You made no effort to wipe them away as you nodded despondently.
“I love you,” you cried hopelessly. “Please.”
“I love you too,” she rasped, and you knew from the finality in her voice that this was it. The last time you’d see her. You could feel it in your bones; the undeniable truth of the moment.
“May your survival be long,” you choked out, shoulders shaking against your bed as you fought against the sob rising in your throat.
Abby’s hand gripped the doorknob, and she turned to look at you one last time. Her eyes raked over your body, and she offered one small, sad smile before she stepped into the hall.
“May my death be swift.”

26...+29? 👀
for you? sure.
twenty-six: you're so warm twenty-nine: you're everything to me
They pick places at random: a few weeks in Florence, some time in Stockholm. They go to the Mediterranean Sea, the Caspian Sea. Ava finds gelato everywhere they go and always orders their most and least popular flavor, giving the shop owners her honest opinions. She finds the most kitschy shop she can and buys postcards and terrible mugs and t-shirts. I'm building a collection, she tells Beatrice after every purchase. Ava loves it and Beatrice loves Ava, even if she feels like their luggage is made up of lime green t-shirts with the Eiffel Tower on it and misshapen mugs with when life gives you lemons make avgolemono written on them.
Ava loves it. Beatrice loves her. That's all there is to it.
They stay in hostels - for the experience, Bea - and take the cheapest sleeper cars on the trains. It's cramped on a good night and practically uninhabitable on the bad ones. But somehow, Beatrice doesn't mind this either. It gives her every excuse she doesn't need to pull Ava close, tangle their legs together, and curl her hands into the back of Ava's sleep shirt.
Because she doesn't need an excuse. They're not hiding anymore - not from anything, including each other.
Ava picked Valencia a few days ago off their worn map. She found it in a secondhand store in Brussels. The woman warned that it was outdated, but Ava called it exciting and happily handed over too many euros before bustling Beatrice off to see the Atomium, something she read about in the back of a magazine left behind on their last train ride.
The map takes up more than half of their bed-for-the-night, hanging over the sides of it. Ava screws her eyes shut and swirls her finger in a circle before jabbing it down at the map. They're closer to Cat's Cradle than they have been in months and Beatrice wonders if she picked Valencia on purpose, if she knows Beatrice is missing Camila and Yasmine. But she's Ava, so of course she knows. And Beatrice knows Ava feels the same.
They had spent the morning walking through Valencia and then all afternoon at L'Oceanogràfic. They went for the turtles - and then we'll do a fancy dinner, promise. A sit down kind - but Beatrice knew it would be more than just the turtles. It would be the jellyfish and the penguins and dolphins.
And it was. They spent an hour outside the penguins habitat while Ava talked to the aquarium worker in perfect Spanish, asking about migration patterns and what penguins liked to eat more, krill or cotton candy. Beatrice watched in amusement. No matter where they went, someone fell in love with Ava, charmed by her easy smile; and someone was always left brokenhearted when they packed their things and headed off to their next destination. But today, Ava had even managed to get them back behind the Employee Only door to see the penguins closer.
Ava insisted they take a selfie with a penguin named Yago so they could send it to Mother Superion. From one nun to another, Ava declared. Beatrice neatly stole the phone out of her hand before she could hit the send message button. They agreed on Camila.
She sits on the edge of the twin bed they're sharing and stretches her arms above her head, listening to the soft pop and rolling it back into place. Ava is carefully packing away her latest find, a L'Oceanogràfic mug with a penguin on it, but looks up at the noise.
"Shoulder bothering you?" She doesn't wait for Beatrice's answer, immediately reaching out to rub at the muscle between her shoulder and the blade. "You should have said."
Beatrice lets her head drop to her chest, eyes closing in relief. "It didn't hurt before now."
She hears Ava tut behind her. Her fingers dig a little deeper. "Do you want to pick the next place?"
Beatrice opens one eye, looking back a little. "We're leaving already?"
"Well, no. I still want to see Bioparc Zoo. They have giraffes."
Beatrice hides a small smile. "I'm sure they have an excellent collection of coffee mugs."
"They do, I saw-" Ava stops herself, hands pausing. "You're making fun of me."
Beatrice rolls her neck back, looking up at Ava upside down. "I am."
Ava scowls playfully and leans down, pressing a kiss to the space between Beatrice's eyes. She opens her mouth to say something but yawns instead, her dark eyes suddenly looking tired. She lets her hands drop from Bea's back and pushes her way back towards the head of the bed.
Beatrice watches her. So many things are different now, light years away from their apartment in the Alps, but this is still the same: Ava lifts her legs and pulls the top of the blanket out from under her, she slides both legs under, she shimmies down until her head is resting on her arms, and she looks expectantly at the other side of the bed.
What has changes is this: Beatrice doesn't hesitate.
Ava sighs as she settles into bed next to her, immediately rolling to the side so they're pressed together, knee to knee, nose to nose. Ava grins, the ends of her growing hair tickling Beatrice's chin.
"Have I told you how much I love this?" she whispers.
Beatrice smiles back. "Only twice every city."
"I've always wanted to do this. Travel the world. Get out of that room and experience life. And when the Halo found me, I thought I had a second chance to do all of that." Ava runs a fingertip down over the bridge of Beatrice's nose. "I'm finally getting to do it. And with you."
She shudders at Ava's touch and her cheeks flush. "Well, you could have done this with anyone," she says, ducking away from Ava's piercing attention.
"But I want to do it with you." Ava meets her eyes, holds them for a moment before she says, just loud enough that Beatrice can hear it over the sound of her heart pounding in her chest, "You're everything to me. If we went back right now, never went on another adventure, I'd still be satisfied, because I was with you."
She inhales sharply. Ava says these things so casually, as if she doesn't know how a simple sentence can dismantle all the hard work her parents did closing her off. But then, Ava probably does know. Ava probably works harder than her parents did to bring them back down.
Ava pulls Beatrice's arms around her, wiggles her way until Beatrice's chin and hums happily. "And also, you're warm."
Beatrice laughs unexpectedly and feels Ava grin against her collarbone. "Am I?"
"Better than those hot water bottles Sister Frances begrudgingly put into my bed on the nights where the heat went out." She feels Ava's scowl now and smooths it away with a hand through Ava's hair. "A better shape, too. An Ava-shape."
"An Ava-shape," she repeats. She feels Ava's cold toes press against her shin. "What is that?"
Ava scoffs. "The perfect shape for me to fit in, obviously."
"Yes, of course," she says lightly. She tips her head down slightly, touches her lips to the crown of Ava's head. "Goodnight, Ava."
Ava smiles again, pressing a kiss to her hollow of her throat. "Goodnight, Bea."
In the morning, they'll go to Bioparc and Ava will charm someone else into letting them touch a giraffe and they'll leave with a too-large t-shirt that Ava will wear to bed and Beatrice will pretend to protest when Ava makes her take a selfie with an elephant.
But Ava loves it. And Beatrice loves Ava. That's all there is to it.

inspired by kid in love by shawn mendes
definitely a shorter fict, but i had a lot of fun writing it.
feel free to give me a feedback!
and i know that we just met
and maybe this is dumb
but it feels like there was something from the moment that we touched
Ollie met you for the first time through a mutual friend. He remembers that moment very clearly, as if it just happened five minutes ago. It was in the small bookstore you family owned. And no, Ollie is not the biggest reader, but he surely spends a lot of time in the bookstore just so he could talk to you.
He still remembers how soft your hand was when you shake his hand for the first time. Olli was not a believer of ‘love at the first sight’ or anything of that sort, but he surely felt his breath got taken away when he first hear your voice saying his name.
“Hi Ollie, nice to meet you.
the way you’re lighting up the room
caught the corner of my eye
we can both sneak out the back door
we don’t have to say goodbye
it was a few months after Ollie got introduced to you when he finally gather up some courage to ask you to hang out. The first time he went out with you, he insisted that it wasn’t a date or anything like that. Well, he tried to convince himself that anyway.
He invited you to go to the aquarium after he noticed how much love you have for sea creatures. Listening to your ramble about them makes himself happy even though he doesn’t understand much.
Ollie can confirm that the moment he saw your eyes lit up when you entered the aquarium area, that was the moment he finally admitted to himself that he had fall for you, hard. The way your eyes sparkled underneath the aquarium light makes him unable to look at anything but you. The way you smiled and thank him for taking you there makes Ollie realized he never wants to say goodbye to you at the end of the day.
“Do you want to go grab some dinner first?”
maybe i’m just a kid in love
maybe i’m just a kid in love oh, baby
if this is what it’s like falling in love
then i don’t ever wanna grow up
Okay, maybe it was a bit of an exaggeration when he called you to be the best thing that ever happened to him in his whole entire life. Afterall, he just turned 18 a couple of months ago. But that doesn’t mean what he said wasn’t true.
For Ollie, falling for you comes naturally. He loves everything about you. He will listens to anything you said even though he doesn’t understand any of it, he will watch over you anytime, he would sacrifice anything in his life if it meant you’re living happily.
Both of you are just two cluelessly in love. But oh, how much Ollie wish not to grow up if this is how it feels to be a kid in love.
if you’re feeling kinda crazy
turn down the lights
we can take our time
do whatever you like
Ollie also remembers the moment he asked you to be his girlfriend. It was midnight, you were reading a book while he finished his essay. He remembers the soft music playing on the background and a couple of scented candles lit up on the kitchen counter, making the scene feels very romantic.
“Can I be your boyfriend?” he had asked, mentally scolding himself right after. Because who the hell said that? He had thought
“What?” you asked, pretty surprised by his sudden outburst. How could you not? You were literally shoving down an entire bowl of popcorn into your mouth when he asked you that, seemingly out of nowhere.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” he finally asked correctly with a blush coloring his cheek.
You don’t need to be asked thrice and a full confession to accept him.
you make me feel like i got it all
and you make me feel like i’m just a kid in love
you make me feel like i got it all
and you make me feel like i don’t ever wanna grow up
Being in a relationship with you is way better than what Ollie had ever dreamed of. You are always there for him. You were there when he finished his F3 season. You were there when it was announced that he will be joining F2 for the next season.
Ollie is also there on every step of your life. He was there when you graduated high school. He was also there right next to you when you opened your offer letter from your dream university
With you on every step of his journey, Ollie was sure that he will always be a kid in love and how he wish to never grow up.

Tank update!
Tumblr media
On plants:
I keep having to trim back the rotala rotundifolia because it grows at insane rates and covers all the other plants, the light gluttons. The cryptocorine wendtii are doing much better: one that had completely melted is growing back leaves at really quick pace for a crypt; the one I accidentally cut the leaves of (was trying to cut a bad leaf and accidentally cut that one and the only other healthy leaf the plant had) is coming back and growing a new leaf slowly but surely after I cut its bad-looking roots and replanted it.
I'm fiddling with the amount of potassium I should add as fertilizer, since many plants started showing signs of a potassium overdose - started at 5ml, now 3ml to see if any signs of a potassium deficit show up.
I've also been experimenting with the placement for the CO3 diffuser* (*see: a chunk of aquarium sponge pushed into hose, lol). I've now moved it to where the bubbles rise to the filter's waterfall, so it naturally pushes and distributes smaller bubbles around while bigger bubbles get broken into smaller bubbles. The first location I put it on, one of the corners, worked ok-ish but it wasted a lot of CO2. The second location was right underneath the filter intake, testing if the filter's impeller could maybe break the bubbles and dissolve the CO2 in the water before going back into the tank, but that not only didn't work but also put extra stress on the impeller which made it very noisy and annoying lol. Its current location as previously described seems to be doing the best out of the three, with the plants releasing a lot of oxygen! :3
Lastly, I'm still experimenting with the light fixture. Went from two 325lm 6500k bulbs and one 475lm 2700k bulb, to changing one of the 325lm bulbs for an 800ml 6500k one, two having two 800lm 6500k + one 475lm 2700k, to taking the 2700k out. The two 800lm bulbs have a good reach and colour temperature, buuuut they did leave a darker spot right in the middle where the hygrophilla angustifolia are, so I added one little 325lm 6500k bulb back. Right now, I'm using two 800lm bulbs and one 325lm bulb, all 6500k, with the dimmer one right in the middle.
On water chemistry:
I've gotten the nitrate levels down considerably, from 120ppm (very unsafe and bad) to 20ppm (good :3), turns out the food I was using to up the ammonia created inconmensurable and uncontrollable amounts of waste, gracias Shulet ni para ciclar acuarios servís.
Speaking of ammonia, I'd gotten the ammonia down to 0ppm but these last few days I've noticed it increase up to 0.25ppm - possibly due to a drop in pH caused by the DIY CO2, which could mean the "ammonia" detected is actually ammonium, much less toxic than ammonia, as the API Ammonia test detects both and has no way to distinguish between the two. As An Autistic Guy obsessed with numbers and data and accuracy I'm so happy that the numbers are inaccurate and the test is so vague, I love that so much, it doesn't make me want to pull my teeth out at all (I am in pain).
Despite the "ammonia" issues, things look good rn! Especially thanks to keeping nitrates under control at long last, the presence of visible algae has started to decrease. I've been taking the brown algae out with a stick, and have been dosing hydrogen peroxide locally to the harder-to-deal-with filament algae to weaken it enough for the snails to go at it. I'm happy to report that the hydrogen peroxide has weakened the filament algae to a point where the nerite snail is able to eat it.
Tumblr media
(All the little dots floating in the water are planorbis snail larvae that hatched today!! Yippee!!!)
On stocking:
It's still just snails for now. A week or two ago I discovered a bunch of dead or half dead planorbis snails in the filter intake tube, victims of the siren call of all the brown algae within it - apparently - though two adults survived and have laid various egg sacks on the glass, on plants, etc, so their presence in the tank will make a triumphant comeback for sure. The one adult bladder snail I had also fell victim to the filter intake, though that one's babies had been crawling around for a few days before its untimely death; there'll be plenty of snails going around for everyone. Don't worry, I've fixed the issue now and snails with shells that are 2mm thick or more will be safe from now on. The nerite hasn't laid any eggs yet, though when it does I'll probably scrape them off (they don't hatch in freshwater).
I'll be gone from monday til thursday, and though I'm a little worried (as always) I am also confident in that things will be fine once I come back. I'm really excited, I should be able to add the tank's main attraction, a betta fish, very soon. :3

Asmodeus slithered up your body and wrapped itself around your neck(of course not strangling you) and Ariel and Eric getting a heart attack seeing a 16 ft snake around their lover 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much for saying that 😘😘
A/N: No don't let this be the last request of the week 😭😭 I enjoy the requests I get from you regarding Poly Eric and Ariel and Hybrid!Reader 💜💜
Snake Charmer
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had come back from helping one of the sellers at the market carry some of their stuff when you saw the most beautiful ball python trapped in some wires. You walked over to it and gently kneeled to its level and gently stroked its head to let it know you meant no harm to it.
"Hi buddy, I'm just gonna help you out here." You said it as you began untangling it from the wires.
"There ya go!" You said with a smile watching as it slithered from its previous spot to now in front of you.
You took a seat on the ground and let it slither its way around your arm as you sat there holding it and gently rubbing it.
"You're adorable. I think I'm gonna call you Asmodeus. Do you like it?" You asked looking at him as he nuzzled into you.
After spending a few more minutes, you went to go find a place he could stay in the castle where no one would bother him until you guys ease your lovers into the thought of keeping him in your room permanently. You found an old room that no one really went into with some old aquarium tanks that Eric had when he was younger, you gently set him inside and found him some food.
"Alright, I'll be back to check on you later." You said placing a kiss on his head before leaving and closing the door.
Over the next few days, both Ariel and Eric noticed how distracted and how much you were disappearing which made them wonder what you were up to. They were coming up with a plan to confront you about what you've been up to when they heard a scream making them scram to go find the source of you and pray that it wasn't you.
"It's a ball python, your majesty's should we kill it?" One of the guards asked.
"Wait! Wait!" You said running and pushing through everyone.
"Y/n you need to back up that thing is really dangerous." Eric said as your rolled your eyes.
"Y/n don't." Ariel said watching as you placed your hand in the cage.
Everyone watched as the snake wrapped itself around your arm before slowly making its way around your neck where it rested.
"This is Asmodeus, he's my friend. I saved him a few days ago and we've been best friends since I was trying to figure away how to bring it up to you guys where you wouldn't freak out." You said scratching his head.
Your lovers stood in shock as they watched as the snake cuddled into you and as your behavior from the last few days started to make sense.
"So can I keep him in the castle?" You asked nervously as they walked over to you.
They both lifted a hand towards them, and he allowed them to pet them which made you all smile.
"You can, we will get him the proper enclosure and everything." Eric said with a smile.
"Thank you guys!'" You said hugging them.

all of the asks. (ask game)
(you don’t actually have to i partially just thought it would be funny to say this i can pick specific ones if you want but also please do if you want to)
This is hilarious. I will do all of them because why not.
favorite chore: organizing things mostly but sometimes even that sucks, sweeping, or not really a chore--- peeling potatoes
least favorite chore: cleaning anything that's sticky/slimy/etc
aquarium, planetarium, museum, or zoo: it really depends on the kind. The aquarium in my town has a really big otter enclosure, so I love that. I really really like planetariums and museums but don't go enough.
favorite kind of museum: The ones that are pretty much people's houses turned into museums especially big old fancy houses with old artifacts. I do love a good art museum of course too.
cooking or baking (and your favorite thing to cook or bake): baking and apple crisp. It has peeling, cutting, etc.
favorite thing in your room: My bookshelf or all of the quotes stuck up on my wall.
favorite class you’ve ever taken: I haven't gotten much variety yet. I really like choir, Spanish, and English though.
what kinds of clothes do you typically wear?: tshirts, jeans, overalls, sweaters, really anything but if you see it it makes sense.
favorite way to be creative (can be anything: playlists, outfits, drawing, writing, decorating cookies, anything.): WRITING but I actually kind of have done a lot. I paint some. I make cool outfits. I actually painted a bunch of jean jackets last summer while listening to the FLF audiobook. I might do that again.
are you superstitious?: Yes and no. I am in the ways that I think are funny like sayings and jokes and having a "lucky necklace." I used to be more so.
favorite article of clothing you own: It's either this gray sweater I found thrifting, my Evermore sweatshirt, or my best jean jacket.
favorite way to carry things (pockets, purse, backpack, etc): I apologize in advance for the rant this will cause. I want to say pockets, but I can not because WOMEN'S PANTS POCKETS FIT NOTHING. I also have to carry an Epipen which can't even fit in men's pants pockets so a purse. I like satchel like purses that can fit a book.
what things do you usually have on you when you leave the house?: As stated before my Epipen, my phone which has my wallet stuff in it, a purse, a book, headphones, chapstick, some cash, etc.
favorite errand: grocery shopping or essential other things
dream job: a librarian who writes books in her spare time (with a dog and a cat <3)
favorite thing get when going out to eat: a burger or spaghetti usually
when did you lose your first tooth?: first tooth lost was pulled by the dentist, and I didn't know what was going on. It was HORRIBLE. I have gotten many pulled actually. First "naturally" lost was because my friend's friend hit my chin with her knee while we lifted her in the air at recess. I lost it in Spanish class a few days later.
any childhood memory you want to share:
do you like camping?: Yes, but mostly because I was taken a lot as a kid.
have you ever gone to summer camp and did you enjoy it?: I went to girl scout summer camp but family camp, so my mom was there. It was fine.
favorite place to write things: At a table anywhere without too much distractions
lucky number(s): 4, 7, 13, 14, 16
favorite place you’ve traveled to: Canada probably or just somewhere camping
place you want to travel to: Broadway or London or the Netherlands (to meet an old online friend)
favorite snack: gold fish
favorite smell: lemon verbena
something you’re proud of: all the progress I have made
do you have any pets?: I had a bunny as a little girl. I loved her. I had a dog, but she died two months (ish) ago. I miss her.
do you want any pets that you don’t have?: I want to have a dog again someday. I also will probably have a cat someday. (If I could get an orange cat, I would name it Kell.)
favorite place to go in your neighborhood: THE LIBRARY DUH

One last little mermay fic because it's the last day and I thought it would be cute (also I may be posting on June 1st technically, but I wrote the bulk of it yesterday so...).
Steve hadn't been working at the aquarium for long, but he loved every second of it. He'd moved out to California a while ago and he'd been down on his luck when Dustin came out one time to visit, all jazzed up about marine life, since it was his latest obsession, and he'd suckered him into a trip to the place before he left again for Hawkins. Steve had never had much interest in undersea life before, but as Dustin dragged him through the exhibits, he found himself in awe of all the beautiful creatures. At the end of their tour, he was buying Dustin a souvenir in the gift shop, when a large "Help Wanted!" sign caught his eye.
"That, uh, that sign," he asked the girl who was scanning the barcode on Dustin's stuffed seahorse and new San Diego Aquarium cap, "Is that just for the gift shop or is it the aquarium in general?"
"No, it's for the whole place. We are looking for a few people to be cashiers in here and the food court, but we're also looking for tour guides and trainers. The trainers have to have some kind of prior experience working with animals though, so just keep that in mind. Would you like an application?" She asked, her smile bright as she handed the younger boy the bag.
"Yes, please," Steve smiled back, and the girl handed him a small packet of papers fill out before smiling and greeting the next customer.
By the time they left, Steve had already returned the packet, completely filled out, to the right box, and two days later, he got a call to come in for an interview. He went, and an hour later, walked out with a job as a tour guide and a date to come in for his first day of training.
By now, nearly two months later, he knew the ins and outs of the entire place, and he could spit facts about sharks or jellyfish or anemone or sea cucumbers like he was listing the days of the week. He was one of the favorites among the tour groups, since he often made stupid dad jokes and gave out aquatic themed stickers to the kids. It was a hands-on aquarium, and a lot of the parents liked the gentle encouragements he would give their kids if they were scared to touch a certain animal, and the kind ways he would explain how to do it properly so as not to hurt the animals so that everything went smoothly. He was often handed tips from appreciative parents, and even though he always tried to refuse them, they always insisted he take them for helping their young kids to have such a positive experience. His fridge in his apartment was running out of room on the front of it from the amount of drawings kids would do for him, and he had made a note to get himself a little scrapbook or binder or something to keep them in so that he didn't have to throw them away to make room for new ones.
So yeah, Steve absolutely loved his job.
And when his boss pulled him aside one day and said that he wanted him to be the one to help launch the newest attraction on May 1st, he was more than happy to do it. He was just supposed to lead the families into the amphitheater that faced the biggest tank in the aquarium and get them pumped up to see some kind of show involving mermaids. He had no idea what it was or how it was going to work, but he was excited to do it, so he did.
Finally, May 1st rolled around and Steve was about to do his first presentation for a packed theater. He scrounged up some of the old confidence he'd had in high school and put on a huge smile as he walked out in front of the tank with his notes, quieting the families and greeting them before asking if they were ready to see some mermaids.
That's what the whole thing was about. It was supposed to be like that one attraction in Weeki Wachee, Florida, where they had the actresses that dressed up like mermaids and entertained families in while swimming under water. It was pretty much the same as that, but while the actors and actresses were swimming around, Steve was supposed to give a presentation on some fun facts about mermaids and then, at the very end, the families would get to pose for pictures with the actors while they were still in the tank. They were going to be going down with air nozzles from oxygen tanks in their hands, so that they could make cool bubble effects, but also so they could still breathe as they were underwater. It was actually really cool, in Steve's opinion, and he was excited to be giving the presentation.
"Okay, so as long as you're ready to meet our merpeople, we have to try and call to them so that they'll come out to see us. Merpeople are king of shy, so we have to be really loud when we call their names, okay? We have a lot of merpeople here at our aquarium, but the ones you're going to see today are named Pearl and Nero, so on the count of three, we're all going to say really loudly 'Hi, Pearl and Nero!', okay?" Steve said as he continued his opening, smiling wide along with a lot of the kids. They all nodded as he counted to three, and they shouted out for the two actors, and they swam over from where they'd dropped into the tank, somewhere off to the side where the audience wouldn't see them going in.
The first 'mermaid', a girl with curly dark hair and tan skin, swam over, wearing a bright red shell bra and a shimmering red tail that caught the light beautifully. She pretended to be shy as she swam over, but she smiled as a manta ray came up to her, and she pet it gently as the kids all oohed and aahed.
"Everybody, this is Pearl," Steve said, gesturing at the tank, and the actress waved back at the audience, flicking her tail as she swam all around and did little tricks. She could hold her breath for an incredible amount of time, only having to use the breathing tube thing once or twice in the past couple of minutes.
"Now, Pearl is a little bit more brave than our other merman, so we have to call out for him again to get him to come out, okay?" Steve said, and the kids all called out for the guy again. The actress in the water even gestured over to someone with her hand as she swam around and played with the fish and other creatures in the tank with her. Finally, the kids all cheered as another actor swam over, looking more timid as he did.
"Everybody, this is Nero," Steve said, and he gestured at the tank, almost forgetting his next bit in the script when he saw the man. He had blonde hair that flowed around his face in ringlets. He had a tiny hint of a mustache on his top lip and the most striking blue eyes Steve had ever seen. His tail was also blue, probably to match his eyes, and as he waved to the audience and smiled, Steve nearly fainted. He was muscular, but not overly so, and his arms looked strong and sturdy, much like the rest of him. And his smile was bright enough to light up the entire ocean if he wanted to.
Steve made himself refocus on his presentation as the actors played under the water, swimming around and playing with both each other and the creatures in the tank with them. They interacted with the crowd as Steve gave his presentation, doing certain motions to go along with the fun facts Steve was spouting, and just seeming to have fun with it. Steve was too, once he got over the initial shock of that gorgeous man swimming around behind him, and when the presentation was over, he both happy and sad about it. The next show was going to be done by another one of his coworkers, and two other actors would be playing the merpeople, so Steve decided to head back to where he knew the actors would be taking their breaks to see if he could get a chance to talk to the guy.
He found him and the other girl laughing backstage as they ate lunch and gossiped, and he was almost afraid to go in and talk to them. They both had towels wrapped around their heads to keep their long, wet hair out of the way as they ate, and they both still had their tails on, since they had one more show to do before they got to leave for the day.
"Oh, speak of the devil," the girl said to the guy, and she gestured to the door that Steve was standing at, smiling widely. "You're our presenter, right? We were just talking about you. You did a great job hyping up the kids for us. Although, your jokes were absolutely terrible. I'm Heather."
"Oh, uh, yeah, I'm Steve," the man said, walking further into the room with them and tucking some hair behind his ears nervously. "Sorry to interrupt, I just figured that I should probably introduce myself to you guys at some point since we'll be doing a lot of shows together. And I wanted to compliment you on your performance, it was really, really cool. I don't know how you can hold your breath for that long and keep your eyes open underwater and still to all those tricks and stuff. It was just really amazing."
"Thanks," Heather replied, taking another bite of her sandwich, "And to tell you the truth, it's really nothing special. Just lots and lots of practice."
"And the oxygen tanks help a lot," the man said, the first time he'd spoken since Steve first entered the room. He didn't seem like he'd be a quiet person, but Steve figured that maybe he just didn't really like new people. He could understand that. Still, he'd hoped that maybe he'd have more to say than just that. Heather seemed to notice this, because she looked between them for a second, rolled her eyes at the man, and then reached down to unzip a part of her tail and stick her feet out so that she could shuffle off into another part of the room, saying something about needing to use the bathroom and leaving the two alone.
"I meant what I said," Steve said, stepping closer to the other man, "Your performance was really good. I've never seen so many happy kids in one room before. And you didn't even seem like an actor half the time there. You actually seemed like you lived in the water for real. And I'll tell you, you got a set of balls on you, too. I'd never have the courage to swim straight up to a hammerhead and just start petting it like you did."
"Thank you," the man finally cracked a smile as a cute little blush rose to his cheeks. "Yeah, I've always loved the ocean and anything having to do with it. And normally, I wouldn't have the balls to swim right up to a shark, but we keep them pretty well fed here, so I had nothing to worry about. But still, thanks for the compliments." The man paused again, setting down his sandwich, wiping his hands on a napkin, and training those striking blue eyes on Steve while he stuck out his hand and said, "I'm Billy."
Steve shook his hand, and he could feel his own face lighting up with a smile.
"Nice to meet you," he said, his heart fluttering when the other man's face finally broke into a full grin.
"Likewise," he said, and they began to slip into a more casual conversation as Heather returned and she and Billy finished their lunches and got ready for the next performance. Steve would have to leave soon to get his microphone and his notes sheet again, but he stayed for as long as he could, quickly becoming friends with the two actors and making a few plans to make their next show an even bigger hit than the last one was. Finally, it was just a few minutes before Steve would have to start welcoming families back into the theater, and Billy went off somewhere to do one last thing before the show.
"Oh, and hey Steve, I have a quick question for you," Heather said, just before he left.
"Yeah?" Steve asked, stopping just short of the doorway.
"Can I get your number?" She asked, thrusting a napkin and pen into his hands. "It's not for me, though, it's for Billy. Y'know, just in case you were wondering. He nearly choked in the tank earlier when he first saw you through the glass, however blurry. And he said you had a nice voice. But he's too much of a wimp to ask you himself, so write a corny little note and leave him your number so that I don't have to hear about how out of his league you are for the next fifty years, because he will complain for that long."
Steve was taken aback at first, but he was flattered, and he liked the other guy, too, so he decided, why the heck not? He scribbled down a note and his phone number quickly, then high-tailed it out of the room to be in the theater for his cue, just as Billy came back over.
"Steve asked me to give this to you," Heather grinned like a shark, handing him the note. Billy took it, puzzled, and almost missed his own cue to get in the water as he read and reread it to make sure it sunk in.
Steve left him his number. And a terrible dad joke, but mostly his number, and said he wanted to go out with him sometime. He'd said he wanted to be 'part of his world', and as much as the pun made Billy roll his eyes, he couldn't help but find it cute. He could definitely arrange that. But first, he had to get back in the water, and hopefully nobody would notice as he stared at Steve's ass through the glass.
And if they did, he could just pass it off as a merman curious about how the humans walked around on their two large fins.

“i want to keep it, we’re going to build a containment aquarium for this egg.” you stated, looking straight to the Architect’s face, tilted slightly to the side. “i suggest getting rid of it, shadow leviathans are dangerous creatures due to their aggressive nature.” al-an simply said, trying to let you think rationally. i mean, thirty minutes ago you both were running away from a shadow leviathan as well, why would you want to keep its juvenile form? “we can take care of it and let it grow with us, maybe we can even train it and take it with us during our explorations.” “do i have to remind you that the same creature you’re talking about nearly ate us not long ago?” your eyebrows furrowed against each other, trying to understand if al-an was speaking with a tip of sarcasm. after spending everyday with you, he probably caught a grasp of it and started to speak like you as well.
“i know that shadow leviathans are extremely dangerous, but i think it’s a matter of environment, if it shows any sign of aggressiveness we will get rid of it.” you said to him with pleading eyes, not that he understood what they were meaning, but he accepted anyway. you cheered happily to yourself and immediately went out of your base to gather the material required for a large aquarium. once you had enough quartz and titanium you swam back to your base and entered through the moonpool, you then reached al-an inside the large room of the base and with your constructor in hand you built the aquarium. al-an placed the egg inside and you both stood there, looking at the blue glowing egg pulsating slightly as if the creature was already trying to break out. “what are we gonna name it?” you asked, eyes looking with wonder through the glass. “you name something after it’s born.” al-an said, mimicking your eyes’ movements. “perhaps this could be an opportunity to study these leviathans closely.” he continued, his face glowing a little more as he spoke. “as long as you don’t hurt it you’re free to do your researches.” you gave him and eye-sided glare before walking away, the alien following along. a week passed by and the egg gave no signs of a soon hatching, but it grew bigger in size a little bit everyday and you took notice of that.
during the end of the seventh day since you brought the egg to your base, it was now time for the sun to set. you were walking around the aquarium, the egg still laying peacefully on the sand, until you noticed a few little cracks followed by another. you kneeled down and immediately called al-an with your pda, causing him to teleport to you. “you called?” he asked before watching the scene in front of your eyes. “oh.” you were too excited, so you entered the aquarium and started to swim around the egg. “y/n, you shouldn’t—” al-an was interrupted by the sound of the egg breaking, a little creature that resembled the shadow leviathan looked at you with his red eyes, he was cute to say the least. “look, al-an! it’s so cute!” you said happily before patting the creature on the head. “wait y/n, it may be dangerous—” al-an was interrupted again by the creature hitting the glass wall as if it wanted to reach al-an, who fell silent before teleporting himself inside the aquarium, the small leviathan swimming around him cheerfully.
he looked at you, before asking. “what are we going to name it?”

Opening scene of a draft I've had sitting in my word doc for months.
(Bakugou × Kirishima × Reader)
>_<
Fake dating - Kirishima pretends to be dating reader so their ex will leave them alone, but Reader realises that they really enjoyed Kirishima calling them ‘Partner’ and they realise maybe Bakugou is more than a friend.
Meanwhile Bakugou is confused, and Kirishima, who’s been trying to date both of his best bros for the longest time, is internally panicking.
>_<
You’d wandered maybe five feet from the Bakusquad when you saw her through a parting in the crowd. Your skin crawled as you recognised the gelled hair and All Might backpack slung over one slender shoulder. The Hawks pin you’d given her that Christmas was still attached to the back among the various other hero pins. Your feet felt nailed to the floor so you couldn’t even run away let alone hide.
You just gawked.
Mindlessly staring at her back as she took blurry photos of the Lemon Sharks. Her hands always used to shake so you knew the photos wouldn’t come out as she wanted them too and she’d quickly grow frustrated with herself. Only this time you wouldn’t be there to take the camera from her before she cracked the screen again. Her temper had always been rather short.
“You’re so selfish Y/n! I can’t believe I ever saw your stubbornness as attractive. You’re just a bitch.”
If your body wasn’t frozen in terror, tears would’ve sprung to your eyes in response to the intrusive thought. Those words cut deep every single time you remembered them. It hurt to know that someone you used to hold so dearly thought so little of you.
You remembered sobbing openly as she turned on her heels, distancing herself from you to start snatching your things off of the bedside table and yanking your clothes out of the wardrobe. There had been a cardboard box on the bed when you’d got home, half filled with your belongings. She’d been preparing for a while then - on breaking up with you that is - judging by how little time it took her to grab the remainder of your belongings and shove them messily into the box.
“Please, I can be better.” You recalled begging, even though you had done nothing wrong. After parting on bad terms over a misunderstanding over breakfast, you had had a stressful day at work. Sure she tended to hold a grudge, but you hadn’t expected her to try and kick you out over undercooked bacon. “Let me make it up to you.”
“No,” she didn’t shout; she never did. Come to think of it, she barely even raised her voice. Then again she’d always had that effect on you, her tone and body language demanding in a way that both captivated and caged you. There was no hope of getting through to her once her jaw set like that; her back teeth grinding together as her lower lip jutted out. “You aren’t good enough for me anymore. Hell you didn’t even deserve me to begin with. So do us both a favour and get out.”
Every word had pierced you like an arrow. Hit after excruciating hit. Shattering your rose coloured glasses and crumbling your world into dust.
You felt like you were the one submerged beneath the surface of the ocean rather than the thousands of fish inhabiting the aquarium tanks around you. Mouth opening and closing like a suffocating fish, which wasn’t that far from the truth. Someone might as well have attached you to a fishing line by the lip and tossed you into the deep end. You were way out of your depth here.
She was supposed to have moved away to America four months ago, the week after you broke up. So why the fuck was she here?
Unexpectedly, she snapped her phone cover closed and angrily shoved the device into her back pocket. Shoulders raised to her ears. A few other visitors wisely drifted away from her, while she huffed and grumbled profanities under her breath.
Then she turned.
And for three heart stopping seconds, you made eye contact. Your breathing stopped. Every muscle went rigid. Her enraged expression never changed. Eyes boring into your very being.
Then she began to storm towards you.
Thankfully, a large group of teenagers strode between you, cutting her out of your line of sight, and it was like a spell had finally been broken. Fight or flight finally kicked in, and your body finally obeyed you again.
Heartbeat pounding in your ears, you took off at a dead sprint for the last place you’d seen your friends. You needed to put distance between you two. Hopefully you could drag one of your idiots into the bathrooms to hide or you could all go to lunch early. You didn’t mind which, you just desperately needed not to be left alone with her. Never again.
You couldn’t shake your head free of those hateful things she’d said to you during that awful final day. All those jabs that had hit their mark and birthed insecurities that had never crossed your mind before. Insecurities that still clouded your judgement and stopped you from becoming a part of the first relationship you’d ever had interest in after she’d left you.
Fuck. She still had her nails in you didn’t she. Even after all this time, she was still controlling you. Despite the distance. Despite the radio silence. She was still the dictator of your life.
By chance you spotted a shock of red hair through the crowd, standing with a blond by the seal tank. They were clearly bickering back and forth, the blond pretending to shove the other over the railing into the enclosure, his face tomato red. Altering your direction with the speed only a Pro Hero could master, you barrelled for Kirishima and Bakugou, knowing you’d be safe with them.
Tripping over your own feet in your haste to dodge confused looking crowd members, you almost fell over the railing yourself only for strong hands to snap around your waist at the last second. “Where are you going in such a hurry?” Kirishima mused, easily picking you up and setting you down properly on your feet.
“Hide me!” You panted breathily, hands on your knees.
“What? Why?” Bakugou demanded, eyebrows quirked in confusion.
“Is there someone after you?” Kirishima asked, eyes lifting to the crowd as if he could pick them out at a glance.
You shook your head, swallowing the dryness from your throat. “My ex is here and she CANNOT see me.” You explained between too fast breathes, why couldn’t you fucking breathe.
“No fucking way-.” Bakugou began, his body losing its tension as if this wasn’t a life or death situation. He crossed his arms, leaning back against the railing.
And oh god, you knew now wasn’t the time to appreciate how pretty he was, but you couldn’t help it. The combination of the gentle blue lighting and the ripples cast from an overhead tank, had intricate patterns dancing across his flawless skin. Making his narrowed red eyes glow.
“Y/N.” Her sickly sweet tone made your spine go unnaturally straight, snapping your gaze away from Bakugou. You had never been this terrified before. Not even when facing All for One.
Bakugou arched an eyebrow. His burning gaze lifted from you to fix on someone over your shoulder. You tried not to panic when his frown deepened.
How close had she gotten?
Goosebumps erupted up your arms. “I’m not playing dude! Please just hide me, I'll do anythi-'' You begged, close to tears now.
“Hey now, it’s okay. You have Red Riot here, no stupid ex is gonna whisk you away.” Kirishima soothed as he gently took your arm and guided you to stand in front of him against the railing. You felt yourself relax at the wall of muscle quite literally pressed against your back.
“Bakugou.” Kirishima prompted. The scowling blond beside you refused to move. Kirishima sighed. “Bakugou!
“What?” The blond snapped, baring his teeth. Kirishima frowned back, his expression clearly unimpressed. Your gut twisted even though the look wasn’t aimed at you.
Bakugou however seemed unphased as he easily stared right back at the redhead. Expression blank. “Katsuki, please.”
The simple, soft spoken words seemed to break Bakugou’s resolve as he sighed loudly and crowded in next to you, the two of them successfully blocking the sight of you from the rest of the room.
You slumped against the railing, gripping the bar tightly in both hands until your knuckles turned white to mask the shake in your fingers.
“Try not to tense up too much, it’ll draw attention.” Bakugou commented, taking one of your hands in his to rub comforting circles into the back of it. Whipping out his phone with his free hand, “I’m calling the other dumbasses,” he explained as he raised the device to his ear.
“Just hold my hand, try not to panic.” Kirishima soothed, threading your shaking fingers with his sturdier ones. Squeezing lightly in a way that had you exhaling a breath you hadn’t realised you’d been holding.
You heard the moment she glided past, her bittersweet voice occasionally calling your name as if you'd bound up to her side like a lost puppy. And maybe once you would have, but you were not that love sick idiot anymore. You didn't need her approval.
Kirishima's thumb rubbed rhythmic circles into the back of your hand, drawing your attention away from your ex. There were crescent moon imprints dug into his hand from how tightly you'd been gripping it. You immediately loosened your hold.
Bakugou sighed, resting his head against yours, making your mind freeze altogether. Kirishima offering soft reassurance was normal, but Bakugou offering affection meant business. This type of intimacy felt dangerous, and you weren't sure if you could accept it or not.
Luckily you were saved from awkwardly shuffling away by the squad appearing out of the blue.
“Kacchan, you called.” Denki hollered, signalling the arrival of the others. Bakugou immediately pulled away from your side to berate Denki for using that cursed nickname again.
Glancing up, you watched Kirishima take in a quick glance around the room, eyes narrowed like they do when he’s checking for villains. “I think we’re in the clear (Last Name).” The redhead stated hesitantly. Glancing behind him once more, he carefully pulled away so you weren’t pressed into the handrail anymore.
The absence of the small space had your breath quickening again. The sense of security falling away as you became exposed from all sides.
Kirishima tried to take his hand back, but you held on tightly. You didn’t miss the way he glanced at you, eyebrows pinched, but couldn’t find it in you to offer an explanation. You just needed something physical you could ground yourself with.
Forcing yourself to snap out of it, you dutifully raised your gaze.
Kaminari was grinning teasingly at Bakugou too far away to catch what he was saying, while Sero stood nearby, whipping his head back and forth between the two as if he were watching a tennis match. Mina on the other hand was looking at you and frowning. Her face darkened into something dangerous. "Where is she?"
The deadly calm demand made you shiver.
"Went off somewhere by the shark tanks." Bakugou replied dismissively, giving you one last squeeze before letting go. "We should probably move on before the bitch comes back."
"Lunch anyone?" Sero prompted.
"Yeah Kat and I were done here." Kirishima.
"Great!" Kaminari interjected. "I'm starving."
"I could eat." You lied, despite the nausea coursing through your veins.
