4. How did you find the name for a certain character?
I have the same process pretty much all the time I feel bad bc this is such a fun question or it would be 😞 no ones named after anyone or like has their name chosen based on the meaning actively I just like look up names for the place and time period and pick whichever I think fit the character or I already have a name in mind when I make them. I’m like wondering if there were any exceptions. Oh I did want my character Adam’s name to sound like a pseudonym instead of a regular name right bc he’s an SCP agent type like mysterious or whatever. So I used a stage name generator to find out his last name (Adam I just liked how it sounded + the fact that it was biblical). I also like the last name King bc he is also in a position of authority over the other characters at times so it makes sense I guess.
14.Which OC/s do you relate to the most?
Kind of embarrassing to answer lol like this has to be at least a little personal. I like actively try to make OCs different from myself so I’m not just projecting onto them yk. Like that would be first of all embarrassing LMAO but second of all it it wouldn’t be very interesting to explore I feel like. In my opinion it’s better to start with something you can understand, but like have layers of complexity that you don’t relate to at all or whatever. I don’t really know. But to answer the question I think I relate to like the 3 main OCs of Rocio Angel and Cirillo the most :P maybe Lucia as well.
23. Have you ever seen something/someone that looks like one of your characters IRL? What was it like?
I actually haven’t that I can remember like not particularly. I have seen some people sometime where I was like ok I should draw a character’s hair or eyes or etc more like them. Like bc I was trying to draw them a certain way but wasn’t 100 sure how but I’d see someone who looked like them irl and I was like ok ok like that. Ofc Ive seen people with some shared traits, but no one who really looked exactly the same, no one where like I was like omg it’s like seeing them irl yk.
In terms of seeing people irl that remind me of them though like vibes wise what I have seen is people whose clothing really reminded me of like certain characters. Like not that they would actually wear the same thing because I don’t live in a fantasy world in the 1940s but like that remind me of their personality like that they would wear it yk. One time I was like walking around in a city and saw like 10 people with really nice outfits trying to memorize them all to write them down and draw ocs in them later. I ended up doing one of them but I didn’t like how it turned out 😔
27. What's the nicest thing someone has ever said about an OC/OCs?
This question is so embarrassing I have to admit I remember specific nice things people have said about OCs. I do remember specific nice things people have said though. It is hard to pick like 1 nicest thing. You saying Rocio had autism swag is up there. My irl cousin said a bunch of REALLY nice stuff a while ago she likes reading so it was nice to see her reaction. But like every time anyone has said anything like they like a character’s personality or design or storyline or anything it’s really nice I definitely appreciate it and I will remember it forever <3
34. What scene that you've written/imagined is your favorite?
That’s a good question. I literally don’t know at all. Bc I don’t have like all the details down for most of the scenes I’m thinking so all the ones I’ve like thought abt vividly just have a cool visual to go with them and that’s abt it. That makes it sound shallow it’s not that it’s just like I like the emotion of the scene and the idea behind it but not really any of the specifics you know. So I feel like if I tried to pick one it wouldn’t be like a nuanced pick it wouldn’t be like because it develops the character in this way yk it’d be like bc it’s the climactic scene where this character almost dies and it’s so cool or something like that. Does that even make sense.
Ok time to actually answer the question. I wish I had thought of more scenes that like show the dynamics between characters that I like bc my plan with that was to write it in wherever it felt intuitive yk. Like check up on the chastcters’ emotional states to see how they’re reacting to plot events. I just realized as writing this I think I want to have Tiago live for longer. Ok ignore that thats not important ummm I think the only scene I’ve really thought much about along those lines is the one where Cirillo and Laura meet again after a long time. I like the conflict there I like the characters a lot and I think it has the potential to be a very satisfying scene <3. Also maybe like denouement stuff where Rocio is like hi getting back from thr underworld was so annoying anyway sorry for almost ruining your lives and getting you killed. As you can see I haven’t really developed that part of the story yet but I think it’d be cool to see as well

404 - Title Not Found (part/chapter 3)
Part 1 - Tumblr Part 2 - Tumblr
Ao3
Summary: Jason was expecting the gala to be boring like always but is pleasantly surprised when it isn’t.
Danny meant it as a joke but Fenton luck always strikes. At least he gets an excuse to talk to the cute guy he gave quarters to.
AN: As always this is crack, this is a whole crack fic; and I play fast and loose with DC&DP cannon. Ignore any out of character writing(mainly Vlad and Bruce).
Kinda/slow Vlad redemption, kinda like a shitty uncle that you get along with sometimes.
Danny and Jason don’t know each other’s names for a bit so they refer to each other as:
Danny - Quarter Guy
Jason - Laundry Guy
Enjoy the crack! :)
Jason immediately knew that the other wasn’t from Gotham. No one just offered anything without an immediate confirmation that they would get something in return. At least that’s how it was in Crime Alley. He and the other held small talk while they were doing their laundry.
“You just offer quarters to people?” He said sarcastically only to have an actual answer in return. “Only the cute people.” The other said with a somewhat joking tone.
“Uh huh. What’s ya name? I didn’t catch it.” Jason wouldn’t directly admit but this guy had peaked his interest even more.
“Well, I didn’t throw.” The guy answered with a smile that felt sarcastic with just a bit of wanting chaos.
The topic changed to other things. He learned that quarter guy had moved to Crime Alley awhile back, he didn’t give a clear reason why; “Just thought it’d be a good change of pace.”
He also learned that Quarter Guy was going to some kind of event with his godfather; saying that even though he agreed to go, he could still complain. And god did he complain but nothing sounded too bad. “He’s just a fruitloop, I wouldn’t doubt him trying to use me to get secrets from the other people.”
Jason didn’t share any too personal information; besides it just out of sceret identity and such but it would also feel weird to. Jason did complain about how he was more or less forced into agreeing to go to the Wayne gala, only not sharing that it was a gala or that it was a Wayne event.
“Maybe we end up at the same event.” Quater guy, who still didn’t tell Jason his name, joked. His laundry had been done before his own. Quarter guy left with a smile that only made him want to figure out why he felt familiarly even more. Jason was more curious about this guy than before but decided to hold off on figuring out more about it.
It was just meant as a joke. Danny really did mean as a joke but just his fucking luck(or honestly he was expecting CW to be the cause in some way), he was now looking at the guy he gave quarters to a day or two pior. He was standing next to the snack table, avoiding Vlad so he didn’t have to worry about talking to other rich people he didn’t trust. The snacks didn’t look good in any sense of the word, why did he expect rich people to know what good snacks look and taste like.
He was thinking about texting Sam to complain, knowing that she would say I told you so but that when he noticed the guy from his apartment building was there. It took a second to recgionze him since he seemed more put together and dressed nicer, but it was him. Danny wouldn’t have questioned it too much if the guy wasn’t standing next to Bruce Wayne but he was. Danny didn’t need to know any more rich people but life(or probably CW) had other plans.
He noticed that the guy hadn’t seemed to see him yet. Danny moved away from the snack table, going opposite from Wayne and the laundry guy; mainly focusing on staying hidden but a voice called him. “Danỉ͔͖̜͌ẹ̿͋̒̕l̙͖̑̾ͣ!” It wasn’t loud, at least it wasn’t to humans. It had just enough of a hint of ghost speak to have Danny turn to look. Of course when he had his back turned, Vlad had to go and speak to Bruce Wayne. “Come over, I’ve hardly seen you since we’ve arrived.”
Danny held back a sigh and eye roll as he went over to Vlad and Wayne; which also meant laundry guy. He had felt Wayne’s eyes on him as he went over, laundry guy hadn’t seemed to notice or frankly care enough to look. He looked at Bruce. He knew of “Brucie” Wayne and had wondered if it was just a persona like when Vlad used to pretend to be niceish to his dad. He side eyed laundry guy, who didn’t look at him at all.
“You didn’t tell me you had a so-“ Bruce started with a hint of curiosity. Danny was quick to cut him off. “He didn’t because I’m not.” That’s what finally got laundry guy’s attention, he looked at Danny for a second and Danny already knew that he recognized him. “Daniel, that was rude.” Vlad looked at him before going back to Bruce. “I apologize for him but he is right. He’s my godson.” Vlad said, leaving it to Danny to introduce himself.
“Yes, I do apologize for cutting you off like that.” Danny started. He used the tone he would use with some of the ghost nobles. It was a bit forced but relatively kind. He’d hate to admit and never would out loud but he learned it from Vlad. “It’s alright, I understand how words hold meaning.” He noticed how it sounded more real than “Brucie” usually did.
He just nodded before continuing, “Okay. I’ll introduce myself before Vlad tries to.” Danny made his tone sound just a bit joking. He felt laundry guy’s full attention on him. He smiled, a little fake and a little smug. “I’m Danny Fenton and as Vlad said, I am his godson.”
There was some “good to meet you”s exchanged. Danny picked up on the fact that Bruce nudged Laundry Guy to introduce himself.
Jason didn’t like Vlad Masters at all. He was creepy, all around weird and untrustworthy. He had only seen him a few times before, spoke to him barely unless with Bruce but something was off now. There was a strange feeling of paranoia around Vlad that he couldn’t place. Even with all his training from the Bat.
He had been staying relatively close to Bruce, not wanting to deal with questions or the other people which Bruce seemed to respect. He had noticed that Bruce had been trying to be better or very least trying to understand his perspective. It was something, it was better than nothing.
Jason had held back a groan as soon as he saw Vlad approach him and (mainly) Bruce. He tuned out most of everything, just looking at the other people around them. It was like every other time Bruce was stopped by another billionaire. Just stand there, vaguely pay attention and look at the crowd of other people. That’s how it was going until he heard Vlad call out to someone else.
“Danỉ͔͖̜͌ẹ̿͋̒̕l̙͖̑̾ͣ!“ He heard Vald call out to someone else. it sounded off, not by a lot but still. He didn’t show a reaction outside of paying more attention. He noticed Bruce didn’t show any slight reaction which was expected. Jason still didn’t care enough to fully look up at whoever Vlad had called over until Bruce had started talking and was immediately cut off.
Jason had recognized the voice right off the bat. He looked up and saw Quarter Guy or as he introduced himself, Danny. It was obvious that the other recognized him as well but spoke as if he didn’t. He thought of when he talked to him while doing laundry and how he joked about them going to the same event. He heard formalities go around when felt Bruce nudge him. A signal to introduce himself.
He faced Danny, taking note of how he acted like they hadn’t met and he decided to go along with it. “Jason. Nice meeting ya.” He said with a similar smile that Bruice Wayne was known for but each bat kid had their own distinct version of it. “Nice to meet you as well.” Danny said with his own smile, he noticed that it was a mix between genuine and fake.
Jason noticed how different the other acted compared to when they talked a few days prior. He took note of how he was not as talkative or sarcastic and just had a small sense of fakeness about him. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for people to have a more or less fake personas at galas but he found it interesting how the other did a complete 180.
“So Danny, this your first gala?” Jason asked. A bit genuinely curious and also since he knew Bruce would ask him at some point. Danny looked at Vlad for a split second before answering. It seemed like silent communication. “No and yes. I’ve been to a few before but this is the first one I’ve been to in Gotham.” He had kept the smile as he explained. “Vlad has dragged me to some all over. Although I mainly attend the few that are held in my hometown.”
Yeah, he was definitely lying about something. It was easy to guess especially when Danny looked at Vlad before he had answered. He didn’t outwardly question it or look at Bruce to see if he noticed it too, of course he had; world’s greatest detective or whatever.
“Well we’re glad that you decided to attend tonight.” Bruce spoke, or well Brucie did. Some of the others had personas similar to the Brucie one but Jason didn’t. He didn’t feel like he needed one especially after coming back. “How about Jason and you go off and do your own thing while I speak business with Vlad?”
Jason looked at Bruce for a second, they both knew something was sketchy with Vlad and instead of including him in getting more info on him, Bruce was pushing him off to Danny. Not that he was complaining but still. He looked at Danny for his response.
Danny looked at Vlad, a bit surprised that Vlad wasn’t one to suggest that although he would’ve been suggesting it as a way to get information against competition. Vlad just gave a nod to him, Danny held back a sign knowing that Vlad would still use it as an opportunity for that. “Sure, why not? Still getting used to the city and all.”
And with that, he was led away by Jason. He could already hear Vlad scheming. At least he would be the only ghost he’d have to deal with. Hopefully, he didn’t want to jinx himself. He just let Jason drag him away from Bruce and Vald, not really caring where they went.
They finally stopped in a more quiet corner of the gala room. It was less bright with less people which Danny was grateful for. He had attended more ghost galas than human ones. So the loudness that came with human ones was still newish to him.
“So, I guess we really did end up at the same event.” Jason said with a smug grin. Hopefully just making it known that he said it as a joke would make it seem as a crazy coincidence and not too weird.
Danny gave him a sheepish smile, “I swear I meant it as a joke.”

Mergers, acquisitions, stock, trade, liquidation. You couldn’t give a shit about any of it.
You’re not in the financial field at all, much to your parents’ disappointment. It’d brought you out of favor with them, brought your siblings closer to each other.
You usually don’t come to these things, but tonight it talk of selling the entire company. Leaving it all behind, cashing in the lotto, and fucking off. Your family had convinced you to come- despite your clear dislike for everything finance and business, you still hold stock and stake in the company. You were also going to get a pretty penny from your inheritance, so it would be wise to judge your potential buyer alongside your family.
You’re getting ready in your childhood bedroom, pacing the carpet as you put the finishing touches on your outfit. Your father had made it very clear: your job was to root out intention, then act accordingly. Regardless of whether you thought the Roys were worthy of the company or not is irrelevant at this moment. You need to be intimidating.
Intimidating, but also hot. Just for yourself.
A soft knock sounds at your door. “It’s me,” your cousin calls from the hall.
“Come in,” you call back.
She waltzes in, her blouse billowing behind her as she deposits herself on your bed. “Dad’s going to have an aneurysm.”
Even though you already know the answer, you ask, “Why?” You lean against your desk, facing her.
She snorts, knowing you’re trying to push her buttons. “He wants the company, dipshit. I still think all if this is to get on our nerves.”
“A chimp would do better as CEO than any of you,” you say, scoffing. What had started out as what you thought was joking was turning into something else.
“So why won’t you do it, then?” she asks, bitterly. “I don’t see why it has to be either you or someone out of the family entirely.”
“I’m not doing it because I don’t want to. My siblings also just… have no interest. We’re all off to bigger, better things.”
The two of you stare at each other until your father’s yelling draws you both from your trance.
“Up and at ’em,” he’s saying, pretty much to himself, once you’re downstairs. You brush imaginary dust from your sleeves as you make the awkward walk to the helipad. You and your brother share an exasperated look. Despite the fact that you’d been wedged apart over the years, you and your siblings share a lot of the same views and opinions.
“All this peacocking is fucking insane,” he mutters to you once you’re stopped a safe distance away from the pad.
“Just wait until you see them,” you mutter back.
Even though you weren’t involved in the business side of the company, you’d still been involved. You’d gone to dinners, conferences, galas. You were a bit of an outside source, as you held no real position in the company, but you knew you were vital.
At almost every event where someone with your last name was required to attend, there was also a Roy. You’d only ever seen them, never spoken to them
You hear the helicopter before you see it. Sunglasses perched on your nose, you look up. As it descends, your hair and jacket are blown vigorously back, and your hand goes to your scalp. The generated wind is aggressive, slicing over your skin, your clothing. The sound is now deafening, and you notice your sister clamping her hands over her ears. Your father gives her a look, something along the lines of don’t look weak, and your sister rolls her eyes in response, mouthing fuck you.
You have to suppress your smile. The helicopter’s landed, and people are starting to pile out.
“Logan, old friend,” your dad bellows jovially. While the two families had never met, never been close, you know your father and Logan Roy were actually the best of friends. You don’t know how they met. Your father spoke of Logan from as far back as undergrad university.
Your father steps forward, meeting Logan halfway as he leads the rest of his family towards yours. They envelope each other in a hug, and your brother snorts. He’s the only one who’s ever interacted with the Roys.
“It’s like he has a multiple personality disorder,” he’d told you the other day, talking about the enigma that was the head of the other family. “One second he’s laughing, then the minute Dad’s out the room, the guy’s raging over his kids or the people not doing enough work or whatever the fuck else is wrong with that stupid fucking company.”
He turns from your father to your mother, murmuring a warm greeting, then to the row of you, your sister, and your brother.
“Oh, look at the three of you! All grown and radiant,” he says heartily. So far, he doesn’t seem like the demon your younger brother had described him to be. But you know well enough that looks can be deceiving. He opens his arms out to you first, since you’re the eldest of the three. You give him an awkward hug, his hand clapping over your back in a friendly manner. “If only any of my children had the sense to get with you,” he mutters conspiratorially, earning a chuckle from you. He pats your shoulder, before moving on to your brother.
Logan’s wife is next. “Marcia,” she murmurs softly to you, taking you by the shoulders and air-kissing both your cheeks. You return the gesture as she does it, making sure to stay smiling. It’s all a flurry of names you’re sure you’re going to forget the second you need them. Connor, Gerri, Willa, Frank, Rhea. It’s really all just a bunch of letters bouncing around in your head.
Who you’re sure you will remember, though, are the siblings. The younger three. The important ones, your dad liked to call them.
As all of the ‘adults’ convened to chat amongst themselves, like they did when you were children, you and your sister are having a quiet conversation about your work. She’s in the middle of asking you to come out to her office to help you with something when you feel a hand settle on your shoulder. You turn, coming eye to eye with Kendall Roy.
“Hi,” he says carefully, small smile playing on his lips. “I don’t think we’ve met?”
“No, we haven’t,” you say back. “Y/N.” You offer him your hand to shake, like your father expects you to do with everyone.
“Kendall.”
“Yeah, I know,” you say awkwardly. He manages a laugh, withdrawing his hand, his eyes flitting over your face.
“I’m sorry it’s taken me this long, then, to, uh, put your name to your face.”
You’re not really sure what he means, but you don’t think you care that much.
“Move over, Kendall, you’re boring the shit out of her.” His brother comes over, bumping him with his hip. You have to stifle a laugh. “Roman.” You shake hands, offering him a polite smile. “He’s right, though. You’re a bit of a mystery to everyone.”
“Am I?” you ask, laughter seeping into your voice.
“Not to me.” Her voice is firm, clear. “I’m Shiv. I was at the conference you gave the Ethics presentation to. I know your work. My brothers are just stupid.”
You laugh for real this time. “Nice to meet you, Shiv. I’m familiar with your work, too. I’m just not so deep into the political sphere like you are.”
“I can help with that, you know,” she says, expression surprisingly soft. “I’ve been looking for someone that shares my opinions and… moral compass to work with. You need your rock, you know?”
The conglomerate of people slowly transitions inside. Roman and Kendall get roped into other conversations, your sister disappearing off to who knows where. You mill about in the dimly lit sitting room, watching everyone interact. Shiv’s still by your side.
“No offense, but I hate these things,” she says quietly, coming closer to you so you can hear.
You laugh lightly. “None taken.” You glance over at her to find that her eyes are already glued to you. You feel your face heat, her gaze flickering down your body before coming back up to your face. She has a sly smile on, but it’s quickly melting into one of real, soft emotion. You open your mouth to offer her something you’ll probably regret later, but are interrupted by your father clapping his hands together and waving everyone into the dining room. Instead, you give her an exasperated smile and follow the crowd.
Your father eyes you and your siblings as you all slip into your strategically chosen seats, making it so you’d all be surrounded by Roys. Your brother makes a face at you from the other side of the table. You ignore him, instead looking up at Shiv, who hovers by the chair at your left hand.
Almost shyly, she asks, “May I?”
“Please.”
A giddy smile spreads across her face as she sits, and you can’t help but mirror her expression. You look down into your plate, catching your sister’s gaze on you. Kendall takes the seat on your other side, Logan sitting directly across from you, right by your dad.
Roman and your brother are laughing over something as you get served the appetizer, your sister staring off into space while Connor talks at her rather than to her. Your mother speaks quietly with Marcia, and of course, your father and Logan are the loudest at the table, laughing and gesturing around.
Your cousin is on Kendall’s other side, overly-focused on her food. The conversation suddenly involves the entire table, Logan leaving forward. “What is it you do again, Y/N?”
You shrug lightly. “I work in media and risk analysis. Dabble a bit in economics.”
“So like Shiv?”
“Not really,” you and her say at the same time. You gesture with your fork, letting her continue.
“Our work certainly overlaps, and I’m glad it does,” she says, “but I’m more… political, she’s more… corporate.”
“If you dabbled in economics,” your cousin manages through gritted teeth, “we wouldn’t be here.”
“Neither would we if you did,” you retort calmly.
She scoffs. “I still don’t see why all of this is happening,” she says back, barely loud enough for everyone to hear. You look to your father, praying he’ll deal with it himself before she goes on some tirade, scaring off the buyer, but he makes no move. He simply glances at you, his gaze loaded.
Do it yourself.
You wait for a few moments, letting the tension strain the room. Maybe she’ll back off.
She doesn’t.
“The company is leaving family hands because of you, Y/N. It’s going to crash and burn because you refuse to fucking see what’s sitting in front of you.”
Logan’s lips press together into a thin line, and you know you have to recover. “I don’t want the company. Neither of my siblings want it. Don’t you think it’s a little telling you’re the only one lusting after it so loudly?”
“I don’t see what that has to say about me.”
“You want it, and you’re not getting it,” you say firmly. “You’re incompetent. The Roy name is not.”
Dinner is only silent for so much longer. Your brother, at his breaking point, asks loudly, “Why are you even here? You blew the Pierce deal. Fuck off.” Your father hisses something into your brother’s ear. He scoffs in response. “I’m sick of it, Dad. The three of us bust our asses to get this to go well for you and she gets to waltz in, do whatever the fuck she wants whenever the fuck she wants.” He quickly pushes back his chair from the table and makes his way out of the dining room.
Clearly, this is deeper than one stupid comment made at the dinner table. You throw a questioning glance at your sister. She gives a minute shake of her head. She doesn’t know.
Dramatically, your cousin follows your brother out. Roman is trying not to laugh, and all of a sudden, your father and Logan aren’t in the mood they were before.
You turn to Shiv, exasperated. She’s also stuffing a laugh down, and it’s contagious. “Is my juvenile family drama amusing to you?” you murmur to her questioningly, the soft clink of silverware and terse chatter filling the room.
“Yeah,” she says, nearly choking on a laugh. “This is so fucking stupid. How do you deal with it?”
“I never stay home.” You down the rest of the water in your glass.
“Hey, uh, Y/N,” Kendall begins, leaning towards you as you turn to face him. “I just wanted to say, I get how it feels.” He gestures vaguely around. “So if you want to, um, get some air after, I’d love to join you.”
You thank him sincerely, giving him a soft smile. Dessert finally comes out. You’re almost there. You turn back to Shiv, but she’s conversing with whoever’s on her other side, to your disappointment. You eat your cheesecake in silence, Roman catching your eye and giving you a wink. You didn’t know people actually did that, but he pulled it off nicely, you think.
When your father finally gets up, ushering everyone into the sitting room for drinks and chatter, you heave a sigh of relief. You trail behind the crowd, hoping to be able to slip away on your own.
You succeed. You sigh up at the high vaulted ceiling, padding towards the grand staircase up to your room.
“Hey, where’re you going?” comes a soft voice. You turn, Shiv, hurrying after you.
“Escaping,” you say jokingly, pausing on the stairs, letting her catch up to you.
“Can I come?”
“Yeah. You can.”
The sight of her sitting cross-legged on your bed does something to you. It sucks all the air from your body. But maybe that was just the sight of her.
"Your brother okay?" she asks, looking up at you.
"He'll be fine. Everyone's just a bit tense."
"Just so you know, your cousin's temper tantrum doesn't change anything."
"I'd hope it didn't."
"What would change things though," she tells you, "is whether you want to come on once we buy the company."
"Me?"
"Yes, you. I was serious when I was talking about how I need someone in my corner."
"What do you mean?"
"It's me. The company gets handed to me."
"Congratulations, Shiv. But really, I want nothing to do with it."
"I'd be running things. You'd just be my right hand woman. The very attractive right hand woman that I see every day."
You laugh, unable to suppress the grin splitting your face.
“My cousin’ll murder me,” you manage to say.
“So? Let her try. Not like you’ll go down or anything.” She smiles up at you. “I think that’s hot. You’re hot.”
Silence stretches between the two of you, both of you grinning at each other.
“You’re really pretty,” you breathe, believing she followed you for a reason.
“I’m glad you think so.” Her hands come to cup your jaw in the few instances it takes you to cross the room, slide onto your bed, and kiss her. “God, you’re so… so fucking gorgeous.”
“Yeah?” you ask against her lips, peppering gentle kisses onto them. “Stay the night.”
“I told everyone I went home,” she says, giggling.
Your hand flits to her hip, rubbing soothingly. Your kisses are slow, tender. You’re both enjoying yourselves. It feels so real. It feels like something more.
You slide off of her, off the bed, eliciting a whine from her pretty mouth. “Just locking the door, baby.”
You wake up, head buried in her chest. She’d borrowed some pajamas of yours, the shirt a soft cotton. Her breathing is light and airy, and it’s music to your ears. Her fingers are threaded in the hair at your scalp, her arm thrown over your back.
You drift in and out of consciousness until she wakes up, pressing kisses along your forehead. Shiv sits up, letting you stay settled in her lap. You press a hot kiss to her bare thigh, shorts hiked up her legs.
“You know,” she says, after a short while of silence, “Ken and Roman were drooling over you all night.”
You snort. “Were they?”
“I know them. They were. And here I am,” she says, satisfied with herself.
You let out an airy laugh. “Here you are.”
“I was drooling, too,” she admits.
“Can we stop talking about saliva?”
She pinches your ass, to which you don’t dignify with a reaction, instead smiling into her thigh. “I wanna keep seeing you.”
“I have to fly out to Italy for some work. Maybe I want you to come with me.”
“God, I love women.” Her hand cards through your hair. “Mind if I take a picture? I want to send it to my brothers.”
“Perv,” you mutter, but nod anyway. You smile at the camera from her thigh, pressing a searing kiss to the place where her leg meets her hip the moment she hits the button.
It captures her beautiful face in an ecstatic smile, yours in soft affection as you look up at her, not the camera.

Kid and Killer are both awesome and they share such a deep bond ❤️. Might not have one without the other. I keep thinking about what it would be like to have a love triangle with Kid and Killer. What would that look like and who would play which role in the relationship?👀🔥🔥🔥😋
☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I agree, I definitely don’t think you could have one without the other. They are two sides of the same coin, the same soul split in two. That dynamic is what makes the idea of a love triangle so interesting with them because it’d be a constant push and pull, both of them so stubborn and unrelenting so that the other could have their chance with you.
As far as instigating the whole thing, it could result from either of them at any given time though I don’t see them being the type to actively seek out a relationship. It’s far more likely that a mutual attraction spontaneously occurs similar to what happened with Victoria and when it does inevitably happen, Kidd and Killer are locked in before they even fully realize its going on.
Perhaps it starts with some increasingly intimate interactions in the common areas of the ship, maybe some out of place compliments given by a red-faced Kidd or an unusually talkative Killer. If you happened to be a non-member of the crew, prepare to be asked to join and don’t even attempt to decline as they’ve already sunk their teeth deep into you when it comes to that point. They wouldn’t force you to be with them romantically, but they’re very protective of those they care about and would want to ensure your safety from the haven of the ship.
Kidd might notice that Killer has gotten comfortable around you rather quickly, especially if he’s talking more or allowing you to occupy the kitchen while he cooks, but Killer certainly knows that Kidd is smitten way before Kidd is ready to acknowledge those feelings himself. Kidd’s demeanor is far too open and boisterous which makes his ‘subtle’ changes in behavior that much more obvious, especially since he and Killer know every little thing about one another.
If you maintained a level interest in them both, there would be some inner dialog that makes them question whether you’re being friendly or if you’re actually flirting with them as it seems. This is where the mutual pining would come into play (more on that here) as they may grow a bit distant to see if you’ll seek them out on your own. If they didn’t know about each other’s feelings before, it becomes glaringly obvious when they notice that the other is intentionally avoiding you.
They’d slip away to Kidd’s workshop or their cabin to talk about what exactly is going on, from there it all gets laid out on the table. The major issue that you’d face is that they both value the other’s happiness so much that they’d willingly let you go for the sake of the other. Killer is specifically affected by this sentiment as he has such heavy self image issues and wouldn’t be confident that you’d want to be with someone like him in the first place.
When you can’t ignore their sudden polarization anymore, you seek council from some of your closest crewmates who have sat back and watched the whole thing unfold at a painfully slow pace. Any doubts or insecurities you have would be quickly diminished as they’d reassure you that both Kidd and Killer are interested, they’re just silly little guys who don’t know how to properly communicate their feelings. This could be where the option of a polycule is presented. They’re both wonderful men and realistically, who could choose between them?
They would be open and accepting of the idea, but I don’t see their dynamic changing much at all. They’d still be partners in that platonic soul-mate way and you’d be their new little partner, the platonic aspect of their relationship being completely lost when it comes to you.

BEN Drowned, Jeff the Killer, Homicidal Liu, and Doctor Locklear finding out their victim has a tickle kink
Tea Type: Rose Boba
Potential Triggers: Dubious consent (for tickling only) in BEN’s, and Jeff’s- Liu and Locklear are established relationships so it’s different.
Suggestive speaking of tickling especially in BEN's and Liu's and similar suggestiveness surrounding fear/enjoying being scared in BEN's.
For Liu's there's threatening and violence, though what's directed at Reader is not from Liu or Sully.
There is a graphically worded description of violence involving eyes though, towards the perpetrator though it's not dwelled on too long and the intensity of the injury isn't described, just implied.
Pairing: BEN/F! Reader, Jeff/F! Reader, Liu/Sully/F! Reader, Locklear/F! Reader
Length: 6.8k+
Summary: The Creeps find out something interesting about their intended victim and decide maybe keeping them around isn't such a bad idea.
A/N: So looking back this is much longer than I realized. Especially BEN and Liu's! They're my faves, tied for number one so I suppose I went overboard haha. HABIT from EverymanHYBRID is right up there though in second place. I already continued the self-indulgent BEN lead in, while including HABIT and Liu in the mix so we'll see if I post it. If you guys have any interest, let me know and I'll post it if enough people want to see it!
Also, please let me know if you want any additional triggers added; I think I got them all, but just in case!
BEN Drowned:
Tumblr media
BEN was nothing if not meticulous when learning all he could about his victims. While typically he liked to do all his research at the start, he felt like a change of pace with you, doing it in the moment could be more fun and perhaps frighten you even more as he could go by your most recent searches and documents. That never failed to add an extra edge of panic.
It was inevitable he would find your dirty little secret; especially in a document with no password and nothing to guard it save the word twordish.
“Foolish girl…”
He took in the information easily, and couldn’t help the sadistic smirk that lit up his face, fingers twitching with sparks.
“Not as innocent as you seem after all, huh?”
That good girl image you held was what initially drew him to you as prey but clearly…there was a side to yourself you hid from him. From everyone, in fact.
A part of you liked being scared, and therefore what he was doing to you. Memories hit him then. The blush that would frequently appear on your cheeks, eyes darting to the side, half sighs and even the occasional clenched thighs all made sense now when put together.
You’d recently decided to ditch your technology in an attempt to get rid of him, hence why he was looking for something to draw you back. Appearing in reality and making you frightened of things that aroused you, only to then turn that fear itself into arousal again made him ravenous.
It’d been so long since he’d had a victim perfectly suited to his love of fucking with their minds. He couldn’t wait to have you screaming underneath him, the fear that would fill your eyes, the tears…
He bit back a moan and sighed in much the way you had.
Oh, he couldn’t wait.
—–
That boy was definitely stealing glances at you.  You were sure of it now.
You were at the library again, comfortable in your reading corner in a secluded room when a boy walked in. He wore jean shorts, black converse, a dark green hoodie and a matching beanie on a cursory glance.
You assumed he’d entered to look for a book in here and that he’d leave soon and returned your eyes to the book in your hands.
You flinched a little in surprise as he suddenly spoke, making you look up again.
“Mind if I sit here?”
His voice sounded older than you expected, in his 20’s for sure despite his shorter stature, but there was still a quality to his voice that called you back to childhood, an underlying playfulness.
It…made you uneasy rather than comforted for some reason though and you felt dread in you that wasn’t there before. Hmph. You’d just be a little more vigilant.
Still, you smiled and nodded, as you would for anyone else and he smiled back, before taking a seat and starting to scroll through his phone.
Your smile instantly dropped and you trembled a moment as memories assaulted you of that thing that’d been messing with you from every screen available. Another reason you picked this room. It was far away from the computer room and the only screen in the adjacent room was facing away, towards the library clerk.
Using your phone for contact was unavoidable, but you’d had it on airplane mode for ages now, only taking it off to check email and communication once a week before putting it right back on. Given you were putting yourself through college which was currently in the off season of Summer while you worked to pay tuition meant you only had one person to keep in touch with, your Mom.
The rest of the time when you weren’t working was spent here, in safety and solitude. Luckily, the boy’s screen was facing away, but you moved an extra seat away just for comfort’s sake before letting out a shaky breath and returning to your book.
It took a few minutes but eventually you fully relaxed again. Until the back of your neck prickled anyway. You risked a discreet glance up, and caught the boys’ rushing back to his screen. Once was a mistake. Twice, perhaps a coincidence. Thrice, maybe he was checking you out? But four times? Now you were full on anxious. The dread since he’d initially spoken to you was now a solid, immovable pit in your stomach.
You were debating how best to leave discreetly while pretending to read when he cleared his throat, much closer than you would like. You stood instinctively but he continued walking over until he was in front of you and smiled amicably. He seemed nice enough but why was your body screaming at you to run? Your gut typically wasn’t off…but it had told you to download that damned file in the first place so maybe you were just wrong.
You smiled back, just as innocently, tilting your head to the side.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah. Just fine. I know this might be somewhat forward, but any chance you want to get some hot chocolate with me?”
That made you giggle.
“Hot chocolate huh? How old are you again?”
You found the tease coming easy to you and relaxed. So it really was just interest. Hm. In all honesty, he was your type.  He was quite a bit taller than you despite being around average height, and his blue eyes were quite hypnotizing. His blond locks were messy but in that cute, wind tousled way and he had this roguish charm that was mischievous. You’d always been drawn to things she shouldn’t be. He was no different.
He pulled an offended face at your question.
“Who doesn’t like hot chocolate? Are you coming with me to the cafe or not smartass?”
He quipped, turning on his heel and walking towards the door.
You hesitated a beat and then you let yourself smile, following after.
“Yeah yeah, I’m comin’.”
—–
The walk to the cafe was comfortable and you found your earlier fears assuaged.
He made conversation easily; you’d asked what he was doing on his phone and he’d said he was using an emulator to play Zelda. You had fond memories of the series and found he did as well, leading to a lighthearted debate over if Twilight Princess or Majoras Mask was better.
The cafe was just as peaceful, with you both getting hot chocolate. It was summer, but you found you didn’t mind as he pushed you aside with his shoulder to pay for both of you.  It didn’t take much to make you swoon, and he was well on his way at this rate. Respect was hard to find these days and he was being such a sweetheart. He was funny too and you seemed to have common interests. What was there not to like?
He motioned to the book beside you as you sipped your drink.
“So you like Becca Fitzpatrick? Can’t say I’ve heard of her. The cover is interesting though.”
“Yeah! I’m a lover of supernatural romances. Even guilty pleasure stuff like this…probably not the most healthy relationship. It’s about a fallen angel and a Human who fall in love, but Patch at the start; he uses his powers to mess with her pretty often.”
He casually sipped his drink before tilting his head.
“What kind of powers?”
“So far? Talking directly in her head, taunting her about intimate knowledge he shouldn’t have about her and her life, and messing with her memories. Making her think she’s crazy. He kind of almost killed her once already, but changed his mind last minute. It’s…toxic logically but as guilty pleasure fuel it’s hot. I guess. I dunno. I try not to think about it too much."
You laughed sheepishly, embarrassed about rambling and about such a weird ass topic only to hear him laugh.
"We all have our kinks right? I’d love to see your full collection back at your place. Think we could swing by if it’s close?”
You nodded at that, moving to throw out your now empty cups as you headed out with him following after.
“Yeah sure. It’s mostly supernatural romance though but I do have some video game art books you might like that I can lend you, long as you promise to take good care of them. I’ve got a really big game collection too."
Oops that slipped out. You didn’t want to tell him about your weird issues with tech. Not when things were going so well. Too late now though. His eyes had lit up as he asked excitedly.
"Oh cool, really? What’s your favorite?”
“The World Ends With You. It’s kind of indie but-”
“The one with Neku right? I love that game too! Most people don’t know about it!"
Your eyes lit up despite yourself. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad. As long as you were just talking about them and not playing them it should be fine.
The walk from the cafe to your house was short so the distraction was nice. You were half tuned in to the conversation half dreading his reaction when you headed inside.
“Alright here we are.”
You led the way inside, unlocking the door and headed to your room with him in tow. He closed the door behind him and looked around in awe.
"Woah. You’re definitely a gamer.”
Given you had a ps4, a Nintendo switch and a ps3 all underneath your TV at once you saw why he thought that. But then his brow furrowed and you braced yourself.
“Why is everything unplugged though? Even the tv looks dead."
A glance over at your laptop on the desk, very intentionally unplugged from the charger.
"Laptop too.”
Your smile was tight and anxious and you felt shaky.
“I-um-”
He smiled amicably as he turned back to face you.
“Don’t tell me you’re doing some tech detox! Those things don’t actually help you know; you’ll just get more addicted when you return to it later.”
He joked, and you felt like you could breathe again, laughing to hide your anxiety.
“Y-Yeah how’d you know?”
Just as you were about to confirm his claim a loud, and most importantly familiar beep rang out and you panicked, breathing already getting harder as you searched frantically for the source.
“That’s impossible.”
“What’s impossible? Hey, are you ok? You’re awfully pale and jumpy all of a sudden.”
He touched your arm lightly and your gaze moved to him. That’s right!
“I-um-God. I have a confession to make but first can you please turn off your phone?”
You knew it sounded crazy, even to you, but you couldn’t risk it. You’d happily have gone along with the tech detox excuse but…but you couldn’t risk giving it an in again. Better to be safe and tell an outsider in a tech free environment.
“My phone? Uh…why though?”
“I promise I’ll explain but we’re not safe until-ugh I sound like a lunatic."
You hid your face in your hands for a moment, cheeks burning in humiliation and panic.
"You can leave if this is too weird. I know I’m not making much sense but I just-there’s a very important reason I can’t be near tech.”
A hesitant peek up and the boy was taking you in with such sweet worry…and then he sighed in defeat.
“…Fine. If it’ll really make you feel better and you’ll explain.”
He looked at his phone and then pocketed it after holding down the power button and turning it off. His gaze returned to you, expectantly.
“There. Now what’s got you so panicked? You love video games, that much is obvious. So why would you unplug everything like this?”
You still trembled. The fear lingered, along with hope. Finally, someone you could confide in.
“I’m-again this is gonna sound crazy but…”
A broken laugh escaped you.
“I have nothing else to lose, I guess. I’ve got some kind of awful…thing watching me.
His face screwed up at the very thought like he was offended.
"A thing? What, like some kinda hacker?”
You hummed, moving to sit down on your bed and fiddled with your fingers.
“Yeah. Kind of. But it’s more than that. See, if it was on one computer and my phone, that’d make sense. It’s what I thought at first. The calling me by name, the popups to scare me and chat with me where even more personal details were revealed…all that could be a hacker.”
You clenched and unclenched your hands as you swallowed nervously.
“But that wasn’t where it ended. It followed me. Any screen in my line of sight it’d taunt me. Send me pictures of myself. Display messages making fun of me for trying to escape. Even then. I thought…maybe just a really good hacker right?”
You risked a glance at him, and he looked down at you nodding encouragingly.
“Yeah. I could see it being some black hat who just…saw you as an easy target and wanted to really fuck with you.  But something tells me there’s more.”
You smirked bitterly.
“…it knew things it shouldn’t. Like; things I’d never said aloud or confessed online; so no mic work or camera or internet involved.”
“That’s impossible. Maybe you did and just don’t remember?’
You shook your head.
"I mean…Gods I swear I head it in my head once.”
“Like Patch?”
“Yeah actually exactly like-”
“Like this maybe?”
You couldn’t help it. You yelped, and jerked looking around in fear, tears instinctively filling your eyes. You’d know that glitched, demonic in its deepness tone anywhere. It haunted your nightmares.
He looked at you worriedly, grounding you again with a hand on your shoulder.
"Hey, come back to me! You good?”
He frowned seriously as your eyes refocused on him  and you sniffled comforted by the kindness in his blue eyes.
“It just did it. It-it-I just- I don’t know why this demon is doing this to me.”
That was what did it. You looking up at him, teary eyed and desperate, thinking he was your knight in shining armor when really he was the monster in your closet all along.
He caressed your face softly, cupping your cheek so he could see every micro-expression and then he grinned.
“Because it’s fun. Why else?”
His tone was so sweetly gentle that it took you a moment for the actual words meaning to click and when they did you shivered.
“Tha-That’s not funny. I’m not playing around.”
He pulled back to swagger around the room, the same and yet completely different all at once, as he hummed.
“Hmm… shame. Feels like a game to me and a fun one at that. Y'know, I never did tell you my name, and luckily your cute romantic naivete ensured you went with it when I told you they didn’t define us. Why don’t you ask me again now that I’m ready to answer you?”
You shook your head, eyes flicking to the door as you tried to hold yourself together. This couldn’t be happening. It couldn’t.
“No.”
You stood and despite expecting to be stopped you made it to the door. Exhilaration and adrenaline fueled you and as you went to open the door-
“Ouch!”
You jerked away as you were violently shocked the second your hand made contact with the doorknob. Your mind raced. When had you closed the door?
“You didn’t.”
You flinched and reluctantly turned to face your captor trying to put on a brave face as he smirked and cornered you against the door, hovering over you with his hands on either side of your trembling frame.
His entire demeanor had shifted on a dime. The sweet kind boy from earlier may as well never have existed.  This person in front of you- no this monster looked all too amused at your fearful denial.  But there was eagerness in his eyes too. More passionate than any he’s shown when engaging in your conversations before.
“You’re so easy to predict. I charged the doorknob when I closed it; did you like my little mind trick earlier too? Heh "
He snickered.
"The only way you’re getting out is if I open the door first. Now then…”
He tilted his head condescendingly, blue eyes seeming to spark with the demand.
“Say it. I know you want to know.”
You weakly shook your head and flinched again as he hissed at you, raising his voice a little and drawing closer to your face.
“Do it!”
“Fine! W-What are you?”
He pulled back to snicker, calm as if he wasn’t making you a frightened mess.
“Tsk tsk, what a different question than who but I suppose I’ll answer both since I’m feeling gracious.”
He met your eyes and you whimpered as he grabbed your chin, forcing you to maintain eye contact.
“My name is BEN. But you already knew that little mouse didn’t you~?”
His voice was a coo and your cheeks heated despite yourself even as you were filled with icy fear at the confirmation. He even used that stupid nickname that always flustered you. No-one else would know that. You ached with the want to look away but he was way too strong. Pushing at his chest did nothing but make him throw his head back in light laughter.
“Ahahaha! Aww that’s adorable. Don’t make me pin your arms down darling, we were getting along so well earlier. Now! As for your other question. I suppose there is many things you could consider me. A virus, a lost soul, a villain, technically I used to be Human and those fools who know of me online call me legend, a Creepypasta but now, knowing what name you’d give me is what I’ll go by I think. What was it you called me? A demon? I can roll with that."
Your breath hitched as he leaned down cooing lovingly in your ear.
"After all you like demons, don’t you cutie? You can be my Nora and I’ll be your Patch. "
You scoffed and he growled low, demoni- cruel, and glitchy.
Yet you were so scared, so wound up over months of torment and anxiety that you just broke. Constantly being on edge and paranoid. Now you have a direct source to vent your frustrations.  Of course it’d bubble over.
“Get off me you psychopath!!”
You raised your voice, something exceedingly out of character and pushed him back harshly, right into the corner of your desk, making him wince. A brief flash of surprise filled his face and then he was snarling, and advancing on you.
Luckily, you’d already used his shock to turn on your heel and go for the doorknob again and this time we’re successful. You crossed the threshold when a deceptively weak looking arm pulled you back as you struggled and tried to elbow him while his other arm held you to him with another arm resting casually against your shoulders by your neck.
"No!"
All pretense was lost  and he laughed openly against the side of your neck, relishing your squirming as he easily kept you in check.
“You actually caught me off guard. Guess seeing me in the flesh is a little intense huh? Even made a weak little thing like you go for fight just for an opportunity of flight. I suppose now is as good a time to mention as any.”
His mouth moved to your ear where he whispered.
“I know your secret~”
You frowned, wracking your brain for anything else he could use as ammo but came up empty so you called his bluff.
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
And then his fingers squeezed at your waist and you squealed and jerked in his grip and it clicked what he meant. But before you could voice it, he spoke up.
“Like this. Who’d have guessed a seemingly innocent girl like you would have a goldmine of kinks and scenarios for me to play with you with just waiting to be exploited.”
You shook a little, but this time the trembling wasn’t from fear alone, it was withheld arousal too, especially as you could swear his teeth, his fairly sharp teeth- grazed your ear and made you jerk, followed by his hiss in your ear.
“Guess you really are a tickle slut. You like fear too which is just perfect for me.”
Your voice was admittedly breathless as you stopped struggling, simply holding his other arm, positioned around your neck.
“What-What are you going to do with me?”
“I’m going to make you mine of course. I like you, so I’ve decided I want to keep you. I think you’ll find the arrangement to your liking, once you get used to the other inhabitants anyway. I’ll introduce you more intimately. I know you can get anxious in big groups so after your initial intro to everyone it’ll be smaller groups. And in our free time…”
You quickly descended into giggles as the hand at your waist spidered up and down your whole left side, making you squirm and blush. You were distracted so you squealed as his tongue brushed your ear, making you shudder in lust before a hesitant moan left your lips at the cruel and exhilarating words that left his lips. With no need to maintain a facade, his voice deepened and sounded twisted, glitching as he purred.
“I’ll take my time breaking you.”
Jeff the Killer:
Tumblr media
Jeff would already be faltering. You’d been bullied for many a year by now. Of course, the bullies had already been disposed of, but Jeff was triggered heavily by the weakness he saw in you. He feels an odd sense of ownership.
When you flinch in your sleep and giggle, Jeff frowns in confusion from where he had been watching you while he grappled with his thoughts.
You mumble in your sleep, and his eyes move to your hands as you seem to try and push someone away before slapping the air, a grin and evident blush on your face as you squirm.
"Mike s-stop- quit ihihihit!! Damn it no! Not thehehere!”
Jeff experiences a brief flash that has him stumbling back a step and swallowing hard.
A much younger him, Liu, shrieking in laughter under his wiggling fingertips.
Right. Tickling.
Is there a weakness you don’t have?
He frowns in discomfort and quickly moves to dig into your sides, covering your mouth with his free hand to muffle your squeal of laughter.
As you struggle underneath him, Jeff glares as you eye him in fearful shock between gasps of forced mirth.
“Gods, you’re so pathetic. Yet another weakness I’ll have to train you to cope with.”
Right. Training. You could serve as a good partner if he worked you hard enough.
His voice is gruff, and he only pulls his hand away when you’re out of breath not moving from where he’s straddling your waist.
“Who…f-fhuhuhuck me- who the Hehehell are you?”
Jeff snickers immaturely at your word choice before he smirks.
“The man who saved you from those pricks sweetheart. Means you owe me and I’ll be takin’ you under my wing. You either come willingly or…”
He twirls his knife with practiced skills and watches you take in his offer, smirking with intent.
“I’ll take ya by force and tickle you more in front of all my friends, soon as we’re home.”
Homicidal Liu:
Tumblr media
You’d always liked Liu. He was sweet, attentive, attractive; truly the whole package.  You’d been getting closer to Liu for a few months now and despite Liu warning you that he had an alternate personality you hadn’t met you’d accepted him with open arms. At least now you knew why he’d been procrastinating on answering your request to date.
He’d looked so shocked as you threw your arms around him.
“You really don’t mind? Sully isn’t- he’s the opposite of how I normally am. He’s not exactly…palatable to most. He can be quite intense.”
You raised your chin confidently at that and smirked slightly.
“Well I’ve dealt with you when you’re being particularly needy- I think I’ll be okay. Besides; he’s a part of you.  I’m sure I’ll come to love him too!”
Your confident declaration suddenly fell apart as you scrambled for the right words, going red.
“Ah-well I mean- if he would be okay with that obviously!! I’d never-”
Liu cut you off with a laugh and tugged you into his chest, lovingly nuzzling the top of your head as you mumbled defeatedly into his chest.
“I’m not very good at this huh? Sorry.”
Liu shuddered suddenly, a full body shake that made you pull back to look at him in worry. He firmly turned his face away from you, avoiding your concerned gaze before he was ready and clearing his throat as the tremors faded. He sighed in relief and smiled gently at you.
“Sorry about that love. Didn’t mean to make you worried. It seems Sully is a little too eager. I don’t want you meeting until we’ve been dating a while first. I…well.”
He looked nervous before his blue eyes bore into yours.
“Admittedly I want you all to myself. You fell for me first, not him. Can’t have him stealing my girl, even if he is a part of me.”
You couldn’t hold back your quickly growing smile if you tried.
“So that’s a yes? Thank you thank you thank you!”
You laughed, giddy as you hugged him so tight your new boyfriend nearly spun.
—–
It happened a month in, rather unexpectedly.
Liu had come to pick you up from work at the movie theater as per your usual schedule. Your coworkers already were familiar with him from your past months getting to know each other and he waved amicably to anyone he saw, chatting a few moments as he waited for you to emerge from where you’d gone to put out the garbage for the night. When you didn’t return after several minutes, his brow furrowed in worry.
He told your coworkers he was going to check in on you and they waved him off, distracted by their own closing duties. It was late, dark out and already, Liu was feeling anxious. He’d never liked the dark. Not after that night. He rounded the corner where the dumpster and hopefully you awaited and locked on a situation he never thought he’d see again.
Someone he loved, with a knife to her throat.
No-one would be taken from him again.
You meanwhile, were petrified. Tears swam in your eyes that you refused to let fall as the man currently holding you captive against him hissed into your ear.
“Here’s the plan sweetheart, you’re gonna lead the way inside with me and we’re gonna go right over to the cash registers. Take out every bit inside and bring it all out back here. All your little coworkers, the ones that are left anyway? They’ll be too scared ‘a me cutting this pretty neck of yours to do anything stupid.”
A deep voice you’d never heard before emerged, quickly followed by the love of your life. Liu had come for you!
“That’s my pretty neck actually, and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll let her go before I really get angry.”
Wait…no.
Green eyes, similar but distinctly different to Liu’s blue glared into the man.
A knife being tossed casually as a children’s toy as he flipped it effortlessly between his fingers when you knew well Liu let you do the cooking because of his phobia and it clicked.
“S-Sully-”
His eyes cut to you, sharp and biting for an instant before the man behind you laughed.
“Oh you know each other, do you? Lovebirds. How sweet.”
Your breath caught as the knife pressed in enough to make a line of blood trickle down the column of your throat. Your tears fell too, unable to keep them at bay as you bit your lip to stifle the sobs. Like Hell were you giving him that much. But still.
“But now ain’t the time to play hero kid. All the lass has to do is cooperate and she’ll be just fine. Once I get my just rewards I’m out of here and you can both be reunited at last.”
Sully appraised the situation, eyes still locked on you a moment more before that piercing gaze moved to your captor. He tilted his head with a strange smile on his lips before he hummed.
“Who’s playing hero? We both want something. I’ll help you get your money, you give me my girl. Seems a simple enough trade to me. How much were you thinking? 100? 1000?”
Sully threw his knife casually to the side as if it was trash and instead easily instead slipped out his wallet, beginning to flip through bills as both you and the captor were bewildered.
“Shit!”
Sully cursed as he dropped the stack of bills, rushing to pick them up, looking nervous and while the expression and clumsiness reminded you of Liu a moment you knew better. Liu scolded you for cursing when it slipped out. Huh. Seems you had a lot to learn about Sully.
He approached once he’d gathered all the bills and though the man tensed a bit his grip was loose. You were tempted to fight but you had a feeling…saw something in Sully’s eyes that told you to wait as he shot you a quick look.
“Is this enough?”
He held out one hand, filled with 100’s, hunched in submission with his head lowered and when the man couldn’t help himself and bent over your shoulder to look closer, slightly removing the knife a few inches from your neck Sully struck.
He lunged, his free hand holding the man’s head down forcibly; using your shoulder as leverage to better press his neck down and then instantaneously letting the money scatter as he reached his hand in his pocket a moment only to ruthlessly shove it straight into the man’s eye. Somehow, he was still alive. Screaming but alive and when Sully reared back his hand to finish the job, the man having dropped the knife in his agony and fallen on his ass, you shook off your shock to rush him and nearly topple him over in a bone crushing hug.
“Oof! What are you-he’ll get away!”
He hissed, trying to tug you off him but you didn’t budge, holding him tighter.
“L-Liu wouldn’t want this. I don’t either. What you did was enough please Sully, you already took his sight- he’s crippled and not going anywhere and I’m safe. Isn’t that enough?”
“No. For me it’s not. He was going to kill you. Ready, willing and able to rob you of your life…why should I not do the same to him?”
Your reply was simple and you pulled back to look into his eyes. They didn’t hold the same softness Liu tended to, instead expectant and frustrated.
“Because that’s too good for him. Think about it. He was going to make Liu be alone the rest of his life. Murder me in front of him. In front of you.  Leave you a lifetime of Hell. Let him learn to live with a disability in a prison cell.”
He stared you down a moment and just as nervousness bubbled in your gut he pulled you in for a bruising kiss. You heard the crying behind you peak as one of Sully’s hands left you and jerked in his grip to try and see. He didn’t let you even as he broke the kiss. When you frowned disapprovingly at him he smirked, slow and measured.
“Well now. I think you and I will get along just fine. Don’t look so cross. ”
His smile widened, eyes alight with enough glee to make you shiver. His voice dropped just as it had when he’d first appeared, sounding almost demonic in comparison to Liu’s lilting intonation.
“He dared to not only take what is mine, but also had the gall to steal a sight for my eyes alone. You, vulnerable, with tears in your eyes. It’s only fair he lost his.”
A thought hits you suddenly and you can’t resist asking it.
“…You planned this from the second you came out of those shadows didn’t you?”
Sully smiles mysteriously before he sighs.
“It seems our time is running out. Ah, yes. Liu apologizes in advance for this, by the way.”
And just like that; Sully passed out, all of his weight going on you and nearly sending you tumbling to the ground. Luckily Liu recovered fast and blinked several times as he reoriented, looking around before hugging you tightly.
From there, the man now passed out from the pain was arrested and everyone vouched for Liu along with you, claiming it must’ve been self defense because he was such a gentle, nonviolent and calm guy.
Liu was ecstatic once the hectic night was over and you finally made it home, a little after daybreak.
“I can’t believe it!! Sully loves you!!! I knew he would!”
He peppered kisses all over your face, making you giggle and blush.
“I’m gonna have nightmares for weeks, but I confess I’m so glad I finally got to meet him. He’s so different to you, but he’s also my type. As if one of you wasn’t bad enough for my heart and libido both.”
“What was that?”
You stiffened as you realized the last thing you’d said and swallowed nervously. You hadn’t talked sex things yet but with Sully riling you up earlier it just popped out.
“Forget I said anything it really doesn’t-”
Liu made you turn to face him on the bed and you gasped as you saw one of his eyes was green, and the other blue.
“You really want to go there? You’re positive?”
You nodded shyly at Liu and jumped a little as Sully spoke up after a moment, all casual nonchalance.
“So does this mean we can finally make you come undone with tickling like you so desperately want us too?"
You gaped at him before moving to scramble out of the bed in your haste to get away, a nervous grin on already at the edges of your lips.
"H-How did you-”
Sully barked out a mocking laugh.
“Oh sweetheart you really are too trusting. I’ll have to teach you to delete your search history once you’re done on our laptop. You panicked and had a blush on your cheeks, slammed our laptop closed when we came home from work one day. Liu said to trust you but I confess I was curious and snuck a peek.”
His grin widened and his voice dropped to a husky purr as he stood, cornering you against the wall before cooing into your ear.
“Imagine our surprise when we saw what a naughty little slut you were being~”
“S-Sullly, Liu I-”
At your anxiety, Liu was already smiling and cradling your face, pecking your lips and you sighed, somewhat soothed.
“Don’t be scared baby. We love you, both of us.”
Sully agreed, voice more mature than you’d expect.
“Every part of you; including the cute kinky side.”
“I-It’s not cute…”
You grumbled a little, bright red and the sound of their laughter mixing into one was so beautiful you just had to raise your head to savor it. His expression was even better, and with the green and blue eye he sported, the pure joy on his face, you only blushed darker.
“Sorry love. Anyone who says they’re not cute, is adorable. Them’s the breaks.”
Liu cooed affectionately, hugging you and nuzzling the top of your head.
Sully chimed in after a few moment’s peace.
“So; what’s the deal Liu? Take turns tickling in 5 minutes increments to see who can make her either cry uncle or moan first?”
The smirk he shot your way was wolfish but the way your thighs clenched had Liu smirking too, albeit in a kinder way. He was older than you after all and given he was your first everything, along with Sully, he wanted to treasure every second.
“Deal. If I win I get a whole day with her alone.”
“Ditto for me. Better pray cause your weak ass technique-”
But Liu didn’t need his mouth to tickle and you soon found yourself laughing  as he dug right into your hipbones without a trace of the mercy that was so characteristic of him.
You heard Sully scoff before reluctantly giving Liu total control but you didn’t really care who won.
All you knew was that you were incredibly lucky, had two stunning men to keep you safe when you were in danger, and one thing for absolutely certain.
There would be many more laughs in your future.
Dr. Locklear:
Tumblr media
You pace nervously, awaiting Locklear and chewing anxiously on your nails.
He was late. Ever since that hang up saying “a situation had arisen” you’d been anxious. You knew you shouldn’t care. You should be glad, especially since you weren’t 100% sure if the victim he chose was really guilty without a doubt but-
You found you trusted him more.
Gods, what had he turned you into? Tears burned your eyes and you sniffled at the thought of losing him, rubbing at your eyes angrily.
Your door opened with a 'BANG!’ and the man of the hour waltzed in, flowers in hand which quickly dropped along with his smile as he saw your state.
“I’m fi-”
Yet he was already pulling down your hands from your face and gently wiping the remaining wetness himself, crystal blue eyes taking you in with worry.
“Who made you cry? It’s been mere hours since we last spoke who could have-”
“No-one that matters. I’m fine.”
You were dismissive as you could manage but he wasn’t having it, seeing through your half truths and bluffs as always and cutting to the heart of the matter.
“So me, then. Explain.”
His eyes and expression were both serious as he guided you to the couch.
You frowned and turned your face away, going silent.
His tone turned playful in response and out of the corner of your eye you saw his own hold a glimmer of playfulness, returning to his old self now that he knew you were unharmed.
“Ah, the silent treatment, hm? How am I ever to cope with such a thing?”
His voice was teasing and you fought a blush back with difficulty as you 'hmph’d’.
He made a show of tapping his sculpted chin before his eyes darted over to yours and you quickly looked away fully, not wanting him to know you’d been peeking.
Of course, that was what he wanted, if his enticing chuckle was anything to go by.
His arms wrapped around you, pulling you against his chest, between his legs as he nuzzled into your neck.
“C'mon love of mine~ I can’t make it better if you don’t talk and I’d just hate having to make you.”
He sounded so gleeful. Stupid sadist. So much for fighting your blush. You were sure it was crawling to your ears by now-
“Oh? What have we here? Seems the blood has risen to your ears. How adorable. You must be really embarrassed for that to happen~”
His lips against your ear so incessantly had left you squirming a little in his grip as you fought back a smile, swallowing the urge to giggle.
“If you’d like me to stop, all you need do is talk my dear.”
You were tense as a spring, barely holding yourself together as he cooed, blew air and teased your neck and ears.
“Of course…I feel a trade off is in order as well. I made you cry so making you laugh feels like a fair retribution to me. Don’t you think?”
He began squeezing at your sides and exploring your torso and you were gone, trying desperately to curl up and hide your snickers and squeaks as he messed with you.
“You’re such a jehehehehrk! You k-knew what you were-nohohoho!!”
You whined, throwing your head back against his shoulder in mirth as he spidered his fingers ticklishly up your back.
“Of course I did sweetling. Intelligence aside for a moment, I’m a doctor. I touch people’s bodies and elicit all manner of reactions. Do you know how many people I’ve had to restrain so I can work properly due to over ticklishness? Too many. Now then, enough distracting. Unless of course…”
His nimble fingers picked up speed and danced their way into your underarms and ribs until you were kicking helplessly and laughing openly.
“You’d also like to see how mean I can really be.”
“Fuck yhohohohou!!”
He tsked despite the smirk on his face and shrugged nonchalantly.
“What a naughty brat you are. Such vulgarity too. I’ll have to add a punishment to your care plan~ Fine then. Don’t say I didn’t warn you though, sweet. I’ll just have to replace those initial tears of fear with tears of laughter. Tickle tickle tickle~”

–THEN–
It’d been only a couple weeks since they brought his body home. They were torturous weeks of living in an empty home, and you were ridden with denial. It really wasn’t true… was it? This was all some horribly messed up dream that you couldn’t wake up from. But you remembered the day that John Price knocked on your door. Confused when you answered it to find that Johnny and Kyle stood back behind John. They were all dressed in proper uniforms, like they took their time with their appearance. You’d never seen them look so prim, and it brought a small, teasing grin to your face.
“Where’s Simon and his little uniform?” You joked, knowing that he’d do anything to get out of looking so sharp and clean. Peering around the door, and the sides of the house, you look for him. Obviously, he would be hiding from you, but none of the men laughed—not even Johnny. Price barely looked you in the eyes. Every time he opened his mouth, it seemed like he couldn’t put a sentence together. Kyle seemed to avoid your gaze too, finding more interest in looking at his boots than at you. Your smile faded when you realized that you’d never seen any of them at such a loss for words. When it was obvious that Simon wasn’t hiding in the bushes, your stomach dropped…
“What’s wrong?”
John cleared his throat, “Simon Riley was killed in action…”
To this day, you don’t even remember the rest of what John told you. You had zoned out, your ears ringing, and your head spun so much that you almost fainted. Or maybe you did. You didn’t even really know. Despite your lack of memory, Johnny, Kyle, and Price remember it all. The way you collapsed to the ground, and Price catching you; the way the other two rushed to your aid. And the way they’d never heard such a blood-curdling wail. Johnny remembers it loud and clear; Kyle shivers just thinking about it. And Price wanted nothing more than to forget the permanent stain your tears left on his heart.
So, now, weeks since then, it was the first night you were going to have to accept the fact that you were alone for good. You’d just come home from his funeral services, finally putting him to rest. Everything seemed to go by in a blur–the drive there with Price, the whole hours-long service, handshakes and condolences from random soldiers and superiors who you’d never met… and the drive back. Today you hadn’t shed a single tear, you assumed because your body’s production couldn’t keep up with the pace you were letting them flow. Johnny and Kyle were already at your house when you and Price pulled into the driveway. They stood awkwardly around quiet as can be, as if noise would somehow bother you. It was funny, really; the way they rivaled statues.
“I-uh… I think I’m just gonna go lay down. Take a nap, maybe.” Your voice was hoarse and raspy, and your eyes nearly went blind from the brightness of the house when you took off your dark sunglasses. As you set them down on the counter, you give each of them a quick hug, thanking them for their support, and disappear into your bedroom. You hated it now, in all honesty. You hated the way Simon’s bedside table would always be neater than yours, the way his shoes still sat on the rack in the closet, or how his clothes would forever stay folded in the drawers next to yours. You wondered if leaving them untouched would preserve their smell. With the curtains closed, you kick off your shoes, and don’t even bother to change before you lay down. You lay on your side of the bed, out of habit, and bring your knees to your chest.
It would be okay, right? Tomorrow you’d wake up, and everything would be fine…
Though your eyes were shut from sleep, you could feel the tears burn and the sobs escape your throat. The sudden feeling of two strong hands grasping your arms and trying to shake you awake.
“Shhh, sweetheart,” the voice says softly. “It’s okay, you’re okay.”
“S-Simon?” You bolt up, sitting against the headboard of your bed, rubbing your eyes.
“N-no, it’s me… It’s John, sweetheart.” It hurts him to tell you, you can tell by the look in his eyes and how they’re full of sorrow. “You were havin’ a nightmare.”
You’re still dressed in your black dress and matching cardigan. From a quick glance to the mirror hanging on your wall, you can see the mascara painting a psychotic look underneath your eyes.
It kind of looked like Simon’s face paint…
“From the looks of it, I still haven’t woken up,” you trudge to the bathroom, washing away the ruined makeup before looking for comfortable clothes. John turns his head respectfully while you change. “It’s nearly four in the morning, John, what are you still doing here?”
“I planned on spending the night on the sofa.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” you insist, “You’ve been spending a lot of time here, lately. I’ll be fine, trust me, and–and the girls–I–”
He offers a comforting smile accompanied by a small chuckle, “Sweetheart, you know I’d do anything for my girls, right?”
“Yeah…I-I know…”
How could anyone not know that? John was always a good dad, a great one at that. The look of pride he had whenever he talked about his daughters or the way he always looked at his wife like there was no woman more beautiful. His little family was picture-perfect, and nothing made you happier than seeing them all together.
“And you know that when my girls get scared in the middle of the night, I stay with them until they fall back asleep? Until they don’t need me anymore?”
“Yeah…”
“So that’s what I’m doing,” he kicked his shoes off and sat in your bed. With a pillow lying against his lap, he tapped it with his hand, gesturing for you to go and lay down. “I’m staying until you don’t need me anymore.”
Arguing with him would have been pointless, and to be honest, you didn’t want to. John Price might not have been your father, but he was the next best thing. As you lie down, he takes a hand and gently rakes it through your hair. How had he known to do that? Something so small and comforting. Laying there, you felt like a little girl again. His daughters were each aged 7, 5, and the youngest was nearing her first birthday; and you wondered if he comforted them in the same way.
He stayed every night for nearly three weeks.
Kyle and Johnny rotated shifts during the day, keeping you company while John went home and tended to his family. During the night though, John came back to ensure someone was with you especially while you slept. Guilt ate away at you for all the attention they gave you, putting their lives on pause just because you’d had a few nightmares. You’d apologized profusely–to John especially, since he was the one with a wife and kids; surely Mrs. Price was growing tired of taking care of the girls on her own. Still, John had reassured you by saying that he “made it up to her every day” and winked. It was really no wonder why they had three daughters, and you wouldn’t be surprised if they ended the year pregnant again.
–NOW–
Your phone buzzed in your pocket as the cold evening wind nipped at your cheeks and blew your hair into your face. As you walked toward the cafe around the corner, you open the message:
JOHN PRICE: I’m here. Hope you don’t mind I brought the little devil with me.
JOHN PRICE: [Attachment: 1 Image]
The youngest of the Price clan sat in his father’s lap, smiling widely with a cup of hot chocolate—the evidence all over his top lip. He looked like a cherubic angel, with his rosy cheeks from the cold. The little boy took after his mother in looks, but he had John’s eyes.
YOU: How cuuuuuuute!! I’m almost there :)
When you walk in, you’re greeted with the sweet aroma of pastries and savory breakfast items served at the tables around you. John smiled as you approached the table he saved, getting up to give you a hug and kiss on the forehead. Immediately, the boy reached his arms out to you, wanting to be sat in your lap instead of his own father’s. You took the little two year old without a second thought, having always loved to babysit and play with John’s kids whenever the couple needed.
“You should have told me you were walking here,” John says, sliding a cup of freshly brewed coffee toward you. “Could have given you a ride.”
“It would’ve been the shortest ride ever. I don’t live very far,” you argue. “Besides, the weather’s nice.”
John agrees, watching you happily stir the cloud of sugar and cream in your mug with his son mimicking your actions with an empty spoon in his hot chocolate. “I already ordered for us. I hope that’s alright, they should be coming out with them soon.”
“Thank God you did,” you laugh. “Everything smells good, I think I’d have trouble making a decision.”
John chuckles, and you spend the beginning of your cafe date catching up and filling each other in on the news. You thought it was cute, the way John’s life seemed to be filled with events and his childrens’ firsts— first falling of baby teeth, first straight-A report card, first concert—you wondered what that felt like. To be a parent hiding money under the pillow, buying a treat as a reward, or applauding the loudest and buying flowers. While you loved the Price family, and accompanied them to important events, you couldn’t help but feel like you were on the outside looking in… When it came to your life, there wasn’t much that he didn’t already know. Part of you didn’t think you’d ever find out what it would feel like to be the one with the busy family schedule.
Before you can get too lost in thought, a waiter comes by with your plates, and before you can take a bite of your own, John is scolding his son lightly for grabbing off your plate, “That’s not yours, lad. You have yours in front of you.”
“Let him be, John, it’s okay,” your eyes might as well have been shaped like hearts with the way you treated his son as he sat contentedly on your leg. You fed him small bites from your food and helped him slurp hot chocolate by bringing the mug to his little mouth. The smile he gave you once he licked the remaining whipped cream off his lips was enough to make you melt right there.
“I swear you spoil these kids more than they deserve.” He chuckles, shaking his head.
“That’s my job.”
“So,” John began, cutting up the food on his son’s plate into bite-sized pieces before digging into his own breakfast. “Not that I’m complaining, but we usually plan our little cafe get-togethers with more time in advance… so y’know, we can talk without interruptions. Something on your mind that can’t wait?”
“It was John Price.”
Dr. Fernández’s words replayed on loop in your head over the next few days, wondering how and why he thought it was a good idea to go to some therapist when you knew perfectly fine why and how your nightmares started. It wasn’t like they’d come out of nowhere. Plus, you’d always spared John the details. But Soap was the only one who really knew the gritty details, and only because he’d coerced them out of you.
“I saw Dr. Fernández the other day.”
“And how did it go?”
You shrug, “About as good as a therapy session can get, I guess. But she did have something interesting to say.”
“Oh yeah?” He asks, raising a brow while taking a sip of coffee. “And what’s that?”
“She said that you’re the one who set up the meetings between us in the first place. That you’re the one told her about the nightmares starting again, which is impossible because I hadn’t told you about them yet. Now, MacTavish has a tendency to open his mouth and—”
John laughs abruptly, catching you off guard. Your blank stare makes him laugh even more, which only sends you further into confusion. “I don’t need Soap to report back to me with intel about you, sweetheart. I’m a father of four. A father of three girls. I know when you’re not being truthful.”
You can feel your cheeks turn red from embarrassment. If Johnny ever found out that you’d wrongly accused him of spilling your secrets, you’d never hear the end of it. Having someone as caring and thoughtful as John, who clearly was concerned enough to set you up with a therapist made you feel lucky. Of course Soap had been concerned and loving enough too, but that was besides the point.
As the three of you finish your meal, you use wipes that you carry in your purse to wipe the hands and mouth of the littlest Price who looked like he was ready for a nap. An elderly woman approached, smiling warmly, “Your son is just the most adorable thing I’ve laid eyes on,” she tells you.
Her poor observation makes your cheeks flush red, and you stutter, laughing nervously, “Oh! I–uh, no–I-I’m not–”
“He’s actually my son.” John intervenes, noticing the way you’re caught off guard. “Oh, I knew you were too young to be a grandfather!” She laughs, patting him on the shoulder, then turns to you, “ Do you have any children?”
Your cheeks turn redder by the second, “I–no.”
“That’s too bad,” she says. “You’d make a great mother, I can tell.”
With that, she walks out of the cafe, waving.
Waiting for John to pay the bill (since he swore he could never just let you do a nice thing for him), you wonder if the old lady was only one of many who thought that John’s children were your own. It wouldn’t have been far-fetched either; you could often be spotted out and about with them… maybe people had passed by and thought they’d simply be laying eyes on a mother with her kids. You didn’t want to admit how much that made you feel a kind of warmth inside that you hadn’t felt in a long time. Fatherhood on John had looked like a longer and grayer beard and defined little wrinkles in the corners of his eyes. Four kids would do that to you, you guessed. You wondered what motherhood would have done to you. Premature gray hair? Lots of wrinkles? No no, you definitely would have been a MILF. Simon would have been the one with premature gray hair and wrinkles, you knew that for a fact. With the way he stressed over things? Yeah, he’d need regular hair appointments to keep the gray in check. Then again, graying hair on a man… oof. Especially on Simon?? Maybe you would have been those hot parents whose teenage kids had friends that always wanted to come over because they had a crush on either of you. The thought made you giggle to yourself.
“Want me to take him?” John asks, as he stuffs his wallet into his pocket and reaches out for his son. He’s nervous about how the interaction with the lady settled with you. This could only go one of two ways… and your emotionless face is making him believe you’re gonna react that way.
But you smile and say, “It’s okay, I’ve got him.”
And John lets out a little sigh of relief. He hadn’t known the extent to which Simon had ever talked about kids with you, but it was something he wouldn’t shut up about when they talked about families.
“One day, when she’s ready…” Simon had said. But that didn’t stop him from running baby names by John whenever he thought of one.
John had just laughed, telling him that he needed to run it by you.
The lady from the cafe was right though, he thought. You’d make a terrific mother one day; and as he watched you carry his son in your arms like he was your own, he couldn’t help but start to feel a little guilty inside…

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 8 Review - Early Morning Poison Case
Even when Maomao returns home, she has to treat poisoned patients. Being an apothecary is a lot of work. While she doesn’t solve the case, she does try to figure out what the cause is due to her innate curiosity. The poison case also shows how the pleasure district is like underneath the glam.
Tumblr media
I find it interesting how Maomao does cure patients, but she cannot track down the culprit or take action on someone in some scenarios. Like with Lihua’s case, she slapped the lady-in-waiting for doing something stupid like using the banned poisoned makeup powder, but she cannot solve cases like sleepwalking or track down the color-changing fire culprit. Those cases are far beyond her capabilities and status, which makes sense and it’s nice on the writer’s part to not make Maomao solve everything. Like in this case, Maomao treats the poisoned patients, but she cannot confront the culprit because she got hush money from the brothel’s madam and got treated to some fancy snacks usually reserved for customers. Maomao’s job is to treat poison, not solve mysteries.
It does show how dirty the pleasure district can be underneath all of the glam. Problematic customers take courtesans for granted and if they have money, everything can be resolved. Even if the problematic guy was rich, handsome and had women falling for him left and right, killing him means that it’d be a huge problem for the brothel itself due to the power imbalance his family has compared to a place for entertainment.
However, I also like how Maomao does have a bad habit of overthinking. Even if she cannot be too involved in poisoning cases other than doing the treatment process, she still has time to think about what has transpired and what sort of items were used in these situations. Luomen, her father, tells her to not make assumptions, but she still does. It’s a flaw she has, but it’s a good one for someone like her. She figures out that the little girl who sought for the apothecary knew the poisoning wasn’t too life-threatening so she went to the apothecary and not a doctor; she also notices how the little girl got Luomen to come to their brothel, but was considerate enough to walk at his pace as he is crippled. She also figures out that the person who caused the situation was the courtesan who was also poisoned, but not as severely as the male customer. Maomao makes a really good detective in addition to being an apothecary.
Speaking of Luomen, I do like the relationship he has with Maomao. Despite being father and daughter, they are also teacher and student. He goes over the case with her and asks her about certain plants like tobacco leaves and what it can do as a poison and how it can affect someone. Maomao realizes that while tobacco leaves were found in the room, none of them were regurgitated. While she is talented, she still makes slip ups every now and then, and takes her mistakes to heart and makes sure to not make the same one twice in the future. This scene shows that Maomao does take her job seriously and she loves learning above all else.
I have this feeling that Maomao and Luomen aren’t truly father and daughter. I had that feeling last episode but that theory protrudes more this episode. Why I think that is because once Meimei mentioned her going to the Verdigris House’s annex, there’s a scene of her in the corner of the room with a bed-ridden woman. She doesn’t mention this person to Luomen, meaning that Luomen and Maomao aren’t related by blood, most likely. If they were biologically family, she would’ve mentioned that woman’s condition if that was his wife. Given that she said nothing, the bed-ridden woman isn’t his wife; this means that Luomen isn’t married and that Maomao is his adopted daughter. I hope my theory is correct. I do wonder who that bed-ridden woman could be; given how somber the scene is and how serious her eyes looked, I have a feeling that might be Maomao’s mother. If so, I’m surprised that she has a mom and that she’s still alive.
Maomao’s return to the Jade Pavilion was hilarious. Jinshi shows off his jealous side and when he asks about her homecoming and about Lihaku, the context behind Maomao’s words flies over Jinshi’s head. While it’s true that Lihaku did take her out and that she gave him a night of pleasant dreams, it wasn’t sexual on her part, but Jinshi takes it as if they had sex and makes the most hilarious face he has produced by far. Surprised Jinshi face could give Pikachu’s a run for his money. The way Gyokuyou was being a tease and laughing through all of this was hilarious. The reactions from Hongniang and Gaoshun were hilarious to with the former being fed up and the latter tired.
This was a good episode! I did like that the homecoming wasn’t just one episode and that it was a two-parter of sorts. Since she did get two more hairpins, maybe there will be another chance for her to go out again and take Jinshi with her next time so that he’d stop being petulant. Now that Maomao has returned to the rear palace, what sort of cases will she solve now? What are your thoughts on this episode?

Hi again! Omg I didn’t even realise you had posted my ask about Muslim reader (the “she deserves it” fic you did). Thank you for that one!! Hope I’m not annoying you by requesting another Muslim reader, but how about another Will and Hannibal fic with Muslim reader but this time it’s just that they’ve known her for a while and they don’t know much about Islam but they want to learn! So they ask reader and readers all like ?? But also sure! And they’re a hit confused on why she’s so confused and says that basically people kinda always made fun of her for wearing her hijab and she didn’t think the two of them would be interested in learning about her and stuff. And then she teaches them whatever they want lol. I feel like it’d be a fun little request. Thank you again for your time and hope you’re staying healthy and happy 🤧🤧

Hannibal Lecter x Muslim! Reader x Will Graham.
I'm so sorry if I got something wrong about Islam 😭 enjoy!
tags; hanni and will and you being a cool bestie trio, ramadan !!, platonic relationships with will and hanni, will and hannibal spreading around info of your religion to make u feel more at home.
Tumblr media
While you were having dinner at Hannibal's house, he had noticed how when you were eating rice, you mumbled something before beginning to eat with your hands.
He definitely found it odd, so one day when he met you he brought it up.
“Y/N, I hope you don't mind. But I saw that once while eating you said something before eating with your hands. I was curious about what it was that you were doing?” He asked, and you were a little taken aback that he actually wanted to learn about it.
“Well um, we Muslims say Bismillah before eating. Like how some people say grace before eating. And I was eating rice with my hands because it's encouraged in our religion.”
He nodded, taking a mental note of whatever you said.
Next time he invited you to dinner you watched as he said Bismillah out loud before putting the spoon down and eating the rice with his hands. You felt happy and surprised as you watched him eat like the way you did, it didn't make you feel like an outcast, it made you feel at home.
He looked up and smiled. “Am I doing it right?” You nodded excitedly. “Yeah! But you're getting rice all over your hands. Here, let me teach you how to properly eat with your hands.” You smiled and demonstrated how to properly eat rice without making a mess.
The next time you saw Hannibal was with Will, and when they saw you they waved and motioned for you to come over.
“Y/N, Hannibal was just telling me about your religion, I didn't know you're supposed to eat with your hands?”
You were a little surprised that he was as interested as he was, Hannibal standing by proudly because he was the first to learn about that.
“Well um, you're not supposed to but it's good if you do.” You explained, smiling to them a little as you are happy to teach them.
“What else do you do in your religion?” Will inquired, curious. Which made Hannibal speak up. “I hope we're not bothering you with our que-” “No of course not!”
You interrupted him, They both looked at you, a little surprised. “I'm sorry it's just- I'm really excited that you two actually want to learn about this stuff. I usually get made fun of for this kind of stuff, you know?” You rambled, embarrassed a little.
“Oh no, we're more than happy to learn more. It's interesting, you know? A change of pace.” Hannibal reassured you.
And so you three spent the week meeting up where you'd teach them a little about your religion.
Like how instead of saying hello, Muslims say “Assalamu alaikum.” Which directly translates to “Peace be upon you.”
They were both surprised to learn that anything you meet someone, you'd wish peace upon them.
Whenever you three would meet up, they would do their best to pronounce the greeting properly, and wouldn't care if anyone else was around, they'd say it.
At first you felt embarrassed when they said it to you in front of Jack, but next time you say Jack even he greeted you the Muslim way.
When you asked about it he told you about how Will explained what it meant to you and your religion.
After a while, most of the people you knew would join you in Ramadan and Eid.
“Will, why are you staring at that sandwich?” You asked with a laugh. “I can't eat.” He sighed dramatically, staring at the man eating a sandwich in the canteen. “Why not?” Now you were curious.
“It's Ramadan, I'm fasting.” He said it like it was the most obvious thing ever. “No way, really?” You said excitedly. “Mhm, Hannibal is fasting too. I don't know about the others though.” He shrugged, like it was normal.
“But... Why?” “For you, obviously. We didn't want you to do it on your own. Isn't celebrating Ramadan about doing it with family and friends anyway?” He smiled, feeling proud by surprisingly you with this fact.
Honestly let's say you broke out into tears.

second date
February 1st prompt for @hdcandyheartsfest: second date
(for my lovely, oblivious wife, who, at the end of our first date, still didn’t know whether I liked her or not. even after I kissed her.)
- : -
Decades of friendship be damned, he was going to murder Hermione for this.
“You need to get back out there, Harry,” she’d said, matter-of-factly, and then, before Harry could respond, she had conjured up charts - from behind the couch, not magically - and she was using her ‘called-on-in-class’ voice. Only this time the subject was his love life.
Still, the nostalgia had hit him the same way it did when he’d occasionally go back to Hogwarts to watch Quidditch matches, and he couldn’t help but smile at her. And maybe that’d had something to do with him saying yes to her absolutely bonkers idea of setting him up on a blind date.
“I need you to trust me,” Hermione had said so earnestly that it had worried him a little. It’s not that he’s shallow, per se, but that’s not exactly a phrase someone offers before setting you up with a supermodel. But he didn’t think Hermione was going to set him up with an actual troll or anything, so he agreed. Still, he continued to worry.
“I need you to trust me” rang in his head as he showered and then stood in front of his mirror, trying to do something to make his hair manageable.
“I need you to trust me” echoed around his brain as he got dressed, looked in the mirror, reconsidered, and changed. Twice.
“I need you to trust me” danced around in his mind, the words doing all sorts of fancy ballet moves, as he paced around his flat, back and forth for ten minutes, watching the clock the whole time, before giving up and Apparating out to the bar twenty minutes early.
His date still has ten minutes to arrive before Harry can even think about adding ‘being stood up’ to his list of concerns about this date, though that idea still makes his stomach clench unpleasantly. He takes a big gulp of water and tries to calm down and stop thinking about murdering one of his oldest friends. But really, he can’t believe he’d agreed to this nonsense.
“I should’ve known it’d be you,” a voice says, sounding only slightly exasperated. Harry swivels around on his chair, spilling ice water down his front, and watches in stunned silence as Draco Malfoy walks up to his table and sits in the unoccupied chair. “It’s nice that after all these years, Granger is just as predictable as ever.”
“It somehow never occurred to me that it would be you,” he manages to say, honesty spilling from his lips before he can consider if it’s too rude to say. Draco doesn’t look offended, however; he looks perfectly unaffected as he reaches out to the pitcher of ice water and pours himself a glass.
“No? Then I’m afraid you may not know your best friend as well as you think you do,” he says, and Harry bristles a little and opens his mouth to argue. The insufferable bastard across from him arches an eyebrow and Harry pauses. Considers his current predicament.
Hermione’s been working with Malfoy – well, slightly Malfoy-adjacent - for about six years now, but he’s never really come up in all of her stories about her coworkers at St Mungos. They work in different departments, after all, and Hermione’s constantly so busy that it never occurred to him that she has a life outside of, well… the things he already knows about. When on earth does she have time for it all?
“You know what,” Harry says finally, “maybe you’re right.” And then he flags down a passing server for drinks, says “keep them coming, thanks,” and settles in for what is sure to be, at the very least, an interesting evening.
- : -
“So, you didn’t tell her?” Draco is saying a while later, and he’s doing that obnoxious sexy smirking thing that he does and – nope. Harry shakes off that thought. Then pauses. He’s on a date with the man, shouldn’t finding him attractive be a good thing?
The waiter brings his 3rd drink. Offers Draco another.
“I’m good with water, thanks,” Draco says. Then, to Harry, he says, “Should I be offended that you have to be inebriated to tolerate my presence?” Harry pulls a face at him.
“I’m not inebriated,” he says, rolling his eyes.
“Not for lack of trying.”
“Worried about taking advantage, Malfoy?”
“Hardly,” Malfoy says. “I don’t put out until the third date, anyway. Why didn’t you tell Hermione?” he asks, abruptly changing the subject before Harry’s mind can dwell very long on the rest of his sentence.
“What?” he says instead, and the look Draco gives him makes him feel like he’s not making a good case for his sobriety.
“You’re so astounded that Hermione didn’t tell you about our passing acquaintanceship, but you never told her about…” he pauses for a second, “our history?”
“It didn’t matter,” Harry says dismissively, then cringes. “I mean –”
“No, no, by all means, don’t stop being honest now,” Draco says, putting up a hand to wave off any potential backtracking.
“My dating life doesn’t matter,” Harry pushes on anyway. “I don’t really tell her about every date I go on. I tend to keep her out of my love life ever since Ginny. They’re friends, I don’t want to make it weird.” And, oh gods, why is he telling Malfoy all of this anyway? It’s none of his business either.
“It’s probably why she feels the incessant urge to set you up on blind dates,” Draco points out, because of course he had to go and make a decent point on top of everything else. On top of being attractive and insufferable.
He’s definitely going to kill Hermione. Or at the very least, jinx her with something mildly unpleasant.
“In my defence,” Harry says, using a toothpick to fish in his bourbon cocktail for a cherry, “I thought it was going to be a first date, not a sequel to a notoriously bad first date.”
“Notoriously bad for you, maybe - didn’t even break my bottom 10,” Draco says dismissively. Harry snorts.
“Wasn’t bad for you,” he says darkly, “I got a concussion. How many of your dates have ended at the hospital?”
“It’s not unheard of,” Draco says vaguely. “I do work there, after all.”
“You take a lot of your dates to work with you? Remind me why you’re still single?”
At that, Draco rolls his eyes. “I did not ‘take you to work with me’, I didn’t even work there yet,” he snaps, getting agitated enough to use actual air quotes. He looks at his hands in midair as though he can’t believe it himself and immediately puts them back down. One goes to the bridge of his nose, the other clenches on the table. “You can’t possibly blame me for your concussion.”
“I took you ice skating, you’re the one who had to take something that was supposed to be romantic and make it all competitive.”
“I didn’t –”
“You absolutely did,” Harry adds, before Draco can bother denying it. “Probably traumatised a bunch of schoolchildren in the process.”
Draco mouth clicks audibly as it shuts. He clears his throat and, to Harry’s great surprise, his cheeks are a little pink. He looks down into his glass of water, determinedly not making eye contact. “I didn’t realise it was a date,” he says finally, after one more throat clear.
“What?” Harry asks, though he’s quite sure he heard him properly.
Draco sighs. He finally looks up, but this time makes eye contact with a spot just above Harry’s head. “Until the end, when you joked about it being one of the worst dates you’d been on. I didn’t realise we were on a date.”
“Jesus, Malfoy, you thought I just casually asked you out to go ice skating?” Harry says, and then, before he can help himself, he’s laughing.
“Your invitation happened to come a mere week after Hermione asked me over for drinks, I thought it was simply a coordinated effort to… foster amity.”
“Foster amity,” Harry repeats, rolling his eyes, but he’s still grinning. Everything is sort of clicking into place. “No, you oblivious git, I liked you.”
“Oh,” Draco says. A few different expressions cross his face before finally settling on one Harry doesn’t recognise. That pink tinge is still splashed across his cheekbones. Harry kind of likes it. “Past tense?” he asks finally, this time actually making eye contact and the weight of it makes Harry’s stomach clench.
He blinks at him. Wonders what Draco would say if he were honest, if he admitted how long he’s fancied him. “I… well. No, not necessarily,” he says instead, and now, the look on Draco’s face is definitely pleased.
He might actually thank Hermione for this.
“Well then,” Draco says, sitting up straight in his seat and smoothing out his already wrinkle-free shirt. “I propose we start over.”
“Meaning what, exactly?” Harry asks warily.
“It’s not really a difficult concept; I’m simply proposing a fresh start. Restart the date with both of us knowing it’s a date and knowing we’ve come here to go on a date with each other.”
Harry looks around the bar. All around him, chairs are stacked upside down on top of tables, and he can see a tired-looking employee in the far corner, sweeping the floor and shooting them glances.
“Not a bad idea, but I think we’ve overstayed our welcome.”
“Any ideas on where we can go?” Draco asks, standing and pulling out his wallet to pay for Harry’s drinks.
“Depends,” Harry says, then, unable to resist, he lowers his voice suggestively and smirks. “Does this technically count as our third date now?”
It takes Draco just a second to understand the implication, but when he does, that pretty blush is back again. He almost fumbles as he puts his wallet away.
“Good grief,” he mutters, but the corners of his mouth are twitching. “You’re going to make me regret this, aren’t you?”
Harry leans over, catches his hand. Tangles their fingers together. Much to his delight, this only seems to fluster Draco further.
He’s going to send Hermione flowers.
“Absolutely not,” he says emphatically and uses his grip to pull Draco closer. “Just in case you’re still lagging behind here, I’m going to kiss you now. Is that alright?”
(And because Draco still has to take something romantic and make it competitive, he leans in and kisses Harry first.)

LUKE HEMMINGS for TUSH magazine
- Tailor made -
On stage, Luke Hemmings is living his bloom, For Givenchy Beauty, the butterfly follows a different trail of scent.
Von Domen & Van De Velde - Into the flowerbed -
Interview by Afra Ugurlu.
It's pouring rain in L.A. when Luke Hemmings joins our zoom call. Just in time, the frontman of 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) finds refuge in his car on the side of a quiet road, not far from the big Hollywood sign. A look in the rear-view mirror: At the age of barely 16, Luke and his bandmates from 5SOS found themselves in the middle of an international fanbase. Their songs enthralled especially because of the band's juvenile euphoria, and the Australians quickly soared to new heights in the middle of the YouTube madness of the 2010s. But what happens when boybands grow up? After a decade of pop punk influences and with a little more chest hair, Luke took upon a solo career path for the first time and in 2021 released his debut album “When facing the things we turn away from”; a whole new insight into the obstacles and the success of the last years, he later reveals.
Almost 10 years have passed since “She looks so perfect” and “Don’t stop”. What has the last decade been like for you?
I'm living my dream, what else can I say? It was all very intense. You just accepted whatever came at you. For eleven years, for as long as I grew up, that’s been my whole life. Quite crazy, all the stuff that just came flying at us. I don't know whether we would have allowed ourselves this, even if rather short, break if not for the pandemic. Usually it all feels so fast-paced, I often have to pause to mentally take it all in—if you asked me to describe the last decade, then it’d consist of so many moments like that.
Did you ever feel like you were missing out on certain things and experiences during all that hustle and bustle?
I think they were very formative years, so there are probably some life skills I missed out on. In retrospect, you wonder: when was I supposed to learn that? And then you try to somehow fill those gaps. I had to emotionally catch up, but also with things like doing laundry, running errands and so on. There are some more significant matters, like not being close to my family, not to mention that I was missing my home in general. But then you start to put all those thoughts into another perspective: we did what we always wanted to do: write music and perform.
I remember 2014 and 2015, black, ripped skinny jeans and vans. How do you see yourself now, regarding your style?
Pop punk has always been a huge inspiration, and it was simply the style of all these bands like Green Day, Blink 182 and Silverchair. Back then, I was an absolute late bloomer and had to first of all grow into my own identity. I think it was similar with the other guys. We had found a thing that worked, and just stuck with it. It also just felt like a risk to me, doing something other than that, especially in front of an audience. Around the time of our third album, I started to open up a bit more. Our music was changing, and with it our style. At that point I understood myself a little bit better. From then on it just kind of evolved, and I think it still does.
By now you are someone who likes to step out and look beyond the binary. Was that always something that you were interested in or did you rather find yourself getting into it step by step over time?
Where I grew up, people weren’t open at all, everyone wore the same thing. For a long time, it simply wasn’t even on my radar. And of course, I’m not doing anything that someone else hasn't already done before me. I think it was in 2017 when I just started experimenting with glitter and nail polish. From that moment on it all evolved a bit, but it's actually always been something that fascinated me. It just took a while for me to find that part of myself. I feel pretty doing it, and who doesn't want to feel that way? If you only go on stage with a tracksuit, that might be cool. But I'm not an extrovert, quite the opposite, and when I perform and feel so much bigger, it's almost like playing a character. The makeup only emphasises that and turns me into someone who is not introverted and lost in thought. That's the origin of it all, so to speak.
How can we overcome these toxic gender perceptions and behavioural patterns, and heal?
I think a lot of the stigma we experience comes from people projecting their own insecurities onto us. I understand it better now because I grew up in a place that was very toxic in that regard. I'm from West Sydney, which was very conservative. If you’re a man, you have to be really ‘masculine’ and I think that's just complete nonsense. And I think that just sticks with you, growing up like that. There was a time when I came home and didn't want to wear makeup on stage. There was no way I would have done that, whereas now I just do what I'm most comfortable with. Personal growth means putting yourself first and accepting that people will think what they want either way. So really, you should just do whatever you want. That’s the way I'm trying to see it now. It sounds very simple and banal, but I wouldn’t know how else to put it.
Congratulations, by the way, on the release of your first solo album, “When facing the things we turn away from”. Which things do you want to turn away from this year and what else is there to come for you?
I’m facing myself and trying to be more open with the way I deal with stuff. My wish is to just enjoy everything a little bit more. I constantly worry about what might happen tomorrow. I’m not really present or enjoying the moment to the fullest. Everyone probably says that, but I believe it's more important than ever to live in the here and now. We're always looking for the next thing. You want to be at home when you're out and about, on the road when you’re at home. Only when it's over do you see what you actually had going for yourself, and are frustrated; so no ‘Live Fast, Die Young’. But I also think that this year will be a creative one for me. I want to try out new things. We’ll see which doors are going to open for me.
What kind of creative directions are you thinking about?
I can't really say yet. But also in general I don't want to limit myself by excluding new paths. Doing something by myself musically like the album was very intimidating at first. In the end, though, it was very encouraging as well because it was the first time in a long time that I tried something new again. Obviously I love being in the band, it’s my home base. But the solo album is something I never thought I’d be capable of, and now that I know that I am it’s definitely something I want to pursue further.
How do you manage working both on your solo career and with the band at the same time, and are there any points of overlap?
I have a feeling that with the first album it was a bit easier. We were in lockdown and everything on the band's schedule had to be cancelled. Suddenly, I had more free time than in the last 10 years together. I don’t think I would have made a solo album if it didn't come about this way. With four people in the band, all great songwriters and each having their own projects in the pipeline, I feel like it's actually for everyone’s benefit to give other things a try as well. I wondered what it could be like to produce a song from start to finish, and learned so much in the process. Afterwards, when I return to the band, it makes me feel like I know so much more about the recording process and can thus also be a better band member.
How did writing and composing for only yourself change your overall sound?
I don't know whether it significantly changed my sound, but I feel more confident than ever. When you're in a band, you have the luxury to lean on other people and ask: What do you think of this? Do you think it's good, or should we change this? Or someone will encourage you when you're on the right track, telling you to keep going. With this, the only input came from myself. I had to trust my instincts and first of all understand what my own sound really did sound like.
You have no features on your album. Was it important to you to create your first solo album by yourself?
After 10 years on tour, it was quite good to be alone for once and deal with my subconscious. The album is so personal and emotional to me, it didn't really lend itself to include any features. Maybe someday, but I think it has to fit perfectly then. And who knows what’s coming soon. But I think the point and purpose of doing something by yourself is to get accustomed to working without your usual tools.
What did you learn about yourself while working on “When facing the things we turn away from”?
Newfound empathy and love towards myself. The stories of these songs and the lyrics are mostly things I’m dealing with for the very first time. It's almost like writing a diary, you don't have any idea how to start. You sit down and something comes out of it, and that’s what you then try to decipher.

Vashwood Circus AU bc I listened to Britney Spears
Hi this is my first fanfic in like 5 years and my first fluff fanfic ever! I hope y’all like it!
Content : Fluff, Vash x Wolfwood, Trigun, Guns
The never ending piles of posters coating the walls of Julys streets have slowly been changing, the wanted posters being covered by posters of a new attraction in town. Wolfwood was smoking in an alley and realized a face on one of the posters looked oddly familiar. After taking a step closer to examine the poster, he noticed a certain blonde head of hair in the middle. He snickered to himself, putting out his cigarette. “Geez blondie, what did you get yourself into this time?” He ripped the poster off the wall and picked up his cross, walking to the destination on the poster.
Vash was tired of the same thing day in and day out, being put on show multiple times and day. He put up with it though, telling himself that each show was one closer to getting Tonis a new arm. Damn prosthetic parts are hard to come by and they’re hella expensive too, especially for the size it’d have to be. Little guy didn’t deserve that and vash blames himself for it every day. He hopes with this, he’ll earn their trust again and he’ll be able to play with them and see them grow. Vash's smile faded, thinking back to when he last saw them. His boss called just then, telling him the next show was to start in 30 minutes. Vash took a deep breath. “Just a few more to go…”
Wolfwood walks up to this giant tent, wondering what the hell he was getting himself into. He’s not normally a circus kinda guy, but he’s hella curious to see what vash has in store. He grabs a seat in the front row so he can see everything. The ringmaster comes out and announces the acts as they’re coming out. Wolfwoods not super interested in most of the acts as they’re pretty generic circus acts; a tightrope walker, an animal jumping through hoops etc. etc. Right as he’s about to pass out from boredom, the ring leader announces that the next act will have live ammunition fired. This peaks wolfwoods interest and wakes him up. This is the part he’s been waiting for this whole time. “Took ya long enough, bastard.” Wolfwood says to himself under his breath. “Alright blondie, show me what you've got.”
Thankfully vashs act is just shooting a few things while they’re in motion. It’s simple enough and it excites people for some reason, he doesn’t really understand why. In the middle of his act, he spots an oh so familiar cross out of the corner of his eye and the familiar scent of cigarettes and alcohol wafts his way. He turns his full attention to the direction of the cross, smiling at the grumpy man sitting there watching him. “You there! The one with the cross!” Vash shouts out, pointing to him. This shocks both wolfwood and vashs boss, as he’s not supposed to do this. Before his boss can say anything, vash continues. “Will you come up here and join me for my next trick?” Wolfwood laughs and agrees, walking towards vash in the center of the ring.
As wolfwood gets close to vash he puts one hand on his shoulder. “So this is where you’ve been this whole time, huh? You disappeared on me blondie.” It’d been so long since vash heard wolfwoods voice, let alone that nickname and he smiled while listening to it. Getting back to business, vash pushed wolfwoods hand off his shoulder and announces “I will have my volunteer hold a bullet between two fingers and then with my amazing marksmanship, will flawlessly shoot it out of his grasp without harming him!” An audible gasp and whispering can be heard across the tent and the ringleader is nervously pacing back and forth. Wolfwood looks slightly taken aback but quickly composes himself. “Really blondie? You sure about that? You won’t hit me?” He teases. Vash responds “You of all people know how good my aim is. I mean unless your too scared to do it…” he trails, knowing that last bit would rile wolfwood up. He grunts, not wanting to look scared. “You better not mess up blondie.”
Wolfwood grabs the bullet in vashs outstretched hand and is directed to stand 20-30 feet away from him. Wolfwood sets his cross down and leans against it, looking bored but wanting to play along with whatever vash had planned. Vash starts rambling about whatever, getting the crowd hyped again. Wolfwoods eyes never leave vashs face. Once vash looks back to wolfwood and nods, he holds up the bullet between his thumb and pointer while chuckling to himself. Vash takes aim and winks at wolfwood right as he fires, hitting the bullet right out of wolfwoods fingers. Wolfwood lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding in and laughs. The crowd goes wild and the ringleader lets out a sigh of relief. Vash motions to wolfwood to come back over and loudly thanks him and gives him a round of applause, then gesturing to him to sit back down as vash heads back to his dressing room.
Wolfwood instead follows Vash back to his  dressing room. “So blondie, how long have ya been doing this for?” The deep voice makes vash jump a little. “You're not supposed to be back here! And that’s really none of your business either!” Wolfwood looks around his area and notices a few pictures taped to his vanity mirror. The people and places in them varied, some were of Meryl and drunkle, some were of himself and some were of the places he’d been to. Vash noticed him looking over them and rushed to try to explain them. “You have a lot of pictures here blondie.” Vashs face is flushed. “What’s it to you?” Wolfwood lights another cigg and takes a hit. “You've been missing for a while, did ya know that? You kinda just disappeared one day without telling anyone. I was afraid your jumpy ass got into trouble again.” Vashs eyes soften at his words. “Wolfwood, you were worried? Is that what this is all about? How’d you even know I was here? I don’t remember telling anyone..”
Wolfwood pulls the poster out of his pocket. “Your face is kinda plastered all over town. It’s a little hard to miss there.” He could tell by the look on vashs face he didn’t know what he was talking about. Wolfwood sighed. “So why’d you join the circus business anyway? It’s not very humanoid typhoon of you.” Wolfwood snickered to himself with that last part. Vash got quiet and started fiddling with his fingers. Wolfwood noticed and grabbed his chin and made him look up at him. “Hey…what is it? We used to be so close. You can tell me anything, ya know.” There wasn’t much vash could keep from wolfwood, especially after finally seeing him after so long. It’d been, what? 2 years? He missed that familiar scent and welcoming aura. It brought him back and it was like he never left. He breathed a sigh of relief and hugged wolfwood.
Vash took a couple minutes but then started talking into wolfwoods shoulder, still hugging him and not letting go. “I still feel like it was my fault that Tonis lost his arm and well, prosthetics aren’t cheap. I can’t exactly get a normal job with the massive bounty on my head and they said they were looking for new acts. That’s why we joined. We were gonna quit once we worked up the money to get Tonis his own prosthetic arm so he could kinda go back to being a normal kid, well as much as he can that is. I’m almost there, I just need a little bit more time…” Wolfwood listened to him, rubbing soothing circles into his back. “How much more do you need for the prosthetic? I might be able to help you out..” Wolfwood trails. Vash looks up at him, tears in his eyes. Wolfwood knows how much this kid means to vash and he also has a soft spot for kids. “However much you need, I’ve got it. You can’t keep doing this blondie, it’s draining you.”
Vash nodded in agreement, knowing he was right and that there was no point in arguing with him. Vash goes through how much he had left and let wolfwood know. Wolfwood took no time getting out his checkbook and writing the full amount on it. It was knives bank number anyway so it didn’t affect him.
A few weeks later, vash and wolfwood were back in Jeneora Rock and vash started talking to Rosa. After a couple minutes, he pulled the new prosthetic arm out of his bag and explained it was for Tonis. They both collapsed into a hug and started crying in each others arms. Wolfwood looked on with a small smile on his face. As they were putting the new arm on Tonis, he started talking to him and offered him a sucker while telling him jokes and getting to know him.
After leaving, vash and wolfwood decided to continue exploring No mans land together and vowed to not disappear from each other again.

404 - Title Not Found (Pt 3) WIP
Part 2 - Tumblr
Ao3
Summary: Jason learns just a bit more about the guy who feels familiar while doing laundry.
Danny sees Laundry Guy at the gala and wants to avoid him because it’s not everyday people from Crime Alley go to Wayne galas but amazing Fenton luck strikes.
AN PLEASE READ FIRST: As always this is crack, this is a whole crack fic; and I play fast and loose with DC&DP cannon. Ignore any out of character writing(mainly Vald and Bruce). Also this is a WIP, this is strictly a work in progress and not the final product. I just wanted to post something while working on this fic and other stuff and this won the vote.
Final things before the actual fic:
Kinda/slow Vald redemption aka still an asshole but one you can deal with
Danny - Quarter Guy
Jason - Laundry Guy
———————
Jason immediately knew that the other wasn’t from Gotham. No one just offered anything without an immediate confirmation that they would get something in return. At least that’s how it was in Crime Alley. He and the other held small talk while they were doing their laundry.
“You just offer quarters to people?” He said sarcastically only to have an actual answer in return. “Only the cute people.” The other said with a somewhat joking tone and wink.
“Uh huh. What’s ya name? I didn’t catch it.” Jason wouldn’t directly admit but this guy had peaked his interest even more.
“Well, I didn’t throw it.” The guy answered with a smile that felt sarcastic with just a bit of wanting chaos.
Jason didn’t share any too personal information; besides it just being out of sceret identity and such but it would also feel weird to. Jason did complain about how he was more or less forced into agreeing to go to the Wayne gala, only not sharing that it was a gala or that it was a Wayne event.
“Maybe we end up at the same event.” Quarter Guy, who still didn’t tell Jason his name, joked.
He was standing next to the snack table, avoiding Vald so he didn’t have to worry about talking to other rich people he didn’t trust. The snacks didn’t look good in any sense of the word, why did he expect rich people to know what good snacks look and taste like.
He was thinking about texting Sam to complain, knowing that she would say I told you so but he noticed the guy from his apartment building was there. It took a second to recgionze him since he seemed more put together and dressed nicer, but it was him. Danny wouldn’t have questioned it too much if the guy wasn’t standing next to Bruce Wayne but he was. Danny didn’t need to know any more rich people in his life but life(or probably CW) had other plans.
He noticed that the guy hadn’t seemed to see him yet. Danny moved away from the snack table, going opposite from Wayne and the Laundry Guy; mainly focusing on staying hidden but a voice called him. “Daniel!” It wasn’t loud, at least it wasn’t to humans. It had just enough of a hint of ghost speak to have Danny turn to look. Of course when he had his back turned, Vald had to go and speak to Bruce Wayne. The amazing Fenton luck stuck again.“Come over, I’ve hardly seen you since we’ve arrived.”
Danny held back a sigh and eye roll as he went over to Vald and Wayne; which also meant Laundry Guy. He had felt Wayne’s eyes on him as he went over, Laundry Guy hadn’t seemed to notice or frankly care enough to look. He looked at Bruce. He knew of “Brucie” Wayne and had wondered if it was just a persona like when Vald used to pretend to be niceish to his dad.
“Daniel, that was rude.” Vald looked at him before going back to Bruce. “I apologize for him but he is right. He’s my godson.” Vald said, leaving it to Danny to introduce himself.
“Yes, I do apologize for cutting you off like that.” Danny started. He used the tone he would use with some of the ghost nobles. It was a bit forced but relatively kind. He’d hate to admit and never would out loud but he learned it from Vald. “It’s alright, I understand how words hold meaning.” He noticed how it sounded more real(?) than “Brucie” usually did.
He just nodded before continuing, “Okay. I’ll introduce myself before Vald tries to.” Danny made his tone sound just a bit joking. He felt Laundry Guy’s full attention on him. He smiled, a little fake and a little smug. “I’m Danny Fenton and as Vald said, I am his godson.”

Oooh, how would meloni raising Thad change things? Bc I’d imagine it’d change a lot lol
HI. sorry this took a bit. im notoriously terrible at answering asks or like anything at a practical pace so i had to get my brain into the mood to answer. but thanks for sending i really appreciate it!
so yes the short answer is that A LOT changes. i think the main aspect here is that thad is actually raised as a wanted, loved child with his own thoughts and feelings that matter versus president's thawnes upbringing of him only being useful when he can be used as a tool to terminate bart or hurt the flashfam. though meloni definitely wasn't expecting another child in this au, she welcomes thad in with open arms knowing that if he's raised by eobard, thad won't be loved and she would never want that if she could help it. so the best option she has is to take him home and raise him herself.
she's not the best parent ever. no one is. but if there's one thing meloni can ensure she does is make sure thad knows hes loved and appreciated no matter what his origin is. when thad is older she probably explains the complex situation to him so that he doesn't have to find out in some other way that could be traumatic.
assuming things go to plan, mel would encourage thad in any way she could much like how she does with bart canonically in the very little time they have together. in this au/verse, bart's rapid aging either doesn't exist or is solved when hes still a baby which makes things a bit more normal though i imagine raising any speedster child can be a nightmare at times.
i'm sure some traits that thad has typically still show up, like him being very dedicated to whatever his tasks/responsibilities are, maybe being a little unintentionally rude or blunt, and he and bart would probably still bicker and fight a lot but not physically or to an extreme degree. just like typical sibling junk. but because from the moment they got him thad isn't "trained" to be evil or whatever he probably just ends up in a sort of chaotic good position or maybe even chaotic neutral but NOT evil. he still has the potential to be bad just like we all do but it would only end that way if he has some other influence outside of mel bart & don that is frequent and persistant enough to outshine mel's well intentioned upbringing.
he'd probably still end up as a hero. idk if he'd still be inertia maybe cause its just a cool ass name but maybe with a different suit that isn't inverted-color impulse since he has his own life now and has different interests and thoughts outside of his genetical coding being identical to bart. he's allowed to become his own person no matter what his dna says. he's not constrained to JUST be the better or inferior bart/bart-clone. and meloni and don would make sure thad always knows he is his own person and he's not just an extension of bart. they may be brothers but they are not the same person.
i could probably ramble even more on this and i will probably. i have that fic i plan on touching after like a year and a half of nothing. i have a surgery coming up and a buttload of time to recover so i might get some writing done soon. if you're interested in this stuff, keep an eye out! plan to get more art and writing in this verse asap : )

Wonder full (1)
It started with Ron’s idea for a thesis, and the fact they didn’t actually know a lot of people who used to be part of a white supremist cult and then left, and that Malfoy still lived in the country. In town, actually, in this crap of a flat above a chippy. Apparently the owner let him rent it for half price if he worked weekends. Apparently he did. And when Ron came back, two hours late with this strange frown, all he said was, “Whoa, mate.” And Harry decided that maybe he did sort of want to tag along after all.
Malfoy was different. Not only because he looked older, or because he sat on the floor with his legs crossed, or because of the piercings and the choker, or because he let his hair grow, wild and frizzy at his shoulders. Something… Harry didn’t know. Something hungry and a little loud about the way he kept his head down. The way he rambled one hundred miles a minute outside the interviews, the strange jokes he made and the way his eyes rounded, big and grey and startling. It was weird. He was weird. But he answered every single one of Ron’s questions, even the ones Ron hadn’t planned on asking. Even the ones that hung in the air. Even the one that made him go scary, that made him run to the loo with a hand over his mouth. He came back, half a weird smile on his face, and answered it too.
And Harry found the in-betweens interesting. Found himself asking Malfoy what he did the rest of the week (“butcher Italian art in the café across the street, you should come, it’d be horrible”); who was he still in contact with (“no one, I—don’t, ah, really, ah”); where did he get that tan (“a friend of a pal from work went bungee jumping so I begged them to take me? Never regretted anything more, apart from—well”). Found himself wanting to know. And the flat always smelled like chips, and Harry was perpetually hungry, and sooner than later he found himself going on his own, without Ron and the questions drilling into Harry’s scalp, festering in his brain.
Ron said Malfoy had actually volunteered. That he didn’t have to seek him out, Malfoy approached him through the university. It made sense, in a way, with this Malfoy: the Malfoy who couldn’t shut up for the life of him, who was constantly moving and buzzing and clicking. Would be annoying, but—Harry’s brain had been kind of quiet recently, and everyone around him seemed happy enough, or at least settled, and this heaped spoonful of Malfoy was a nice change of pace. With work, boring and safe and strangely continuous, with nights at Ron and Hermione’s or babysitting a quiet Ted twice a week, with always forgetting what kind of oat milk he liked and buying the wrong mustard. With life being, well, it. Nonstop and a bit bland. Malfoy was different, Malfoy was weird, and Harry liked it.
And there was the way he laughed. Loud, deranged, a little charming, and deranged. Like he didn’t know how to laugh. The crease between his eyebrows, like he wasn’t sure he was doing it right, the bubbling, like he didn’t care. It was a nice sort of laugh. Harry kept going.
He went sofa-searching with Malfoy when his old one gave out. Said he’d help him paint a chest of drawers Malfoy found on the street, begged him to chuck it when it proved half-eaten, roared with laughter when he tried, pink-cheeked, tongue between his teeth, to make it stand on three uneven legs. It wasn’t even funny, no idea why he was laughing. Only that there were tears in his eyes, and no breath left in his chest, and that Malfoy was radiant with something warm and weird and a little off.
“What?” he cried, flopping down on the rug. “Stop laughing, Potter! Honestly!”
But Harry couldn’t, waving his arms in big, apologetic flails. “Just throw the damn thing! You’re impossible.”
Malfoy smiled, that crooked line, small and weirdly alight. “No chance. There’s some potential there, I know it. I can almost, almost see it. Don’t you think it would look terrific right there?” pointing at an empty space on the opposite wall. Most of the flat was empty. Harry didn’t mind it so much anymore.
“I think the weevils claimed it first. Sorry.”
“Oh, no. We don’t have weevils. Potter, say we don’t have weevils.”
“What? Why?” the urgency in his voice made something stick in Harry’s throat, thick and jagged. Then an oomph as Malfoy fell on top of him, covering Harry’s mouth with a hand.
“Quick! Say it! Words are magic, we can’t take the risk! You have to say we don’t have weevils, you have to say it, say it, now,” but he was laughing like a maniac, and covering Harry’s mouth anyway, so Harry couldn’t say anything, do anything but laugh too, trying to push him off. Maybe not trying too hard. “Come on, Potter, say it, why aren’t you saying it, sayyy it—”
He finally managed a shove, and Malfoy rolled to the floor, hysterical. Harry wiped his cheeks, couldn’t get this foolish grin off his face.
“You’re barking,” he whispered, and it came out appreciative, fond. “Malfoy? Still alive?” only emitting these tiny noises, choked-off giggles, eyes closed behind a shaky hand. “Hey, you okay?”
“Wonderful,” Malfoy murmured, then swallowed. Sat up, looked around himself. Loud and a bit hollow. “Are you getting hungry? Bet you I could charm Mr. Picket for two sausage suppers.”
Harry sank against the sofa, this strange feeling in his belly. Content and fuzzy. Saturated or full of static or something.
“Yeah, I could do with some food. I can pay, though. Let me pay.”
“No need. Just sit back and watch a true master at work.” With a wink, Malfoy got up, and this sudden panic in Harry’s chest alarmed him silent. He realised he didn’t want to see Malfoy leave.
What a weird fucking thought to have.
This is the first part of act 1 of Wonder Full, posted on AO3. I'll be posting all 9 parts of the first chapter here too, or you can catch it on AO3 here.

IT'S HERE! THE LWA SECERET SANTA!!!!!
At just over 1,000 words, this has officially surpassed the longest single section of a fanfiction I have EVER written!
This is a gift for @randompope, so I hope you like it!!!
Luna Nova, and witchcraft as a whole, has been around since the origination of Christmas itself.
Back to the earliest records in Rome in 336, Or some of the earliest English celebrations in 1038.
2018, 1,682 Christmases later, Luna Nova and the art of witchcraft were still going strong, mostly thanks to the work of one… less than bright girl.
Her friends weren't the sharpest either. And an anonymous gift giving tradition gave a whole new level of challenges…
“Hey, Diana, who'd you get?” Amanda asked.
Diana looked at her letter hesitantly. “Chloe…”
“Oh, the one who hates you?”
Of course. The one who hated her. How was she supposed to get a gift from someone who hated her?
That fact didn't really matter. Her mother taught her the virtues of kindness and respect before she left the earth, and she intends to keep those promises in her gifts, no matter who they are going to.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“What on Earth are those boxes?” Diana asked.
Barbara put down a giant, heavy box in the middle of the Blue Team dorm room.
“It’s decorations. Christmas decorations.” Barbara replied.
“Yeah, we decided it’d be a nice change of pace to decorate, like all the other teams!” Hannah excitedly said.
“Why, though? We’ll just have to tear them down, after all.” Diana asked.
“It’s fun! Come on, you can put your concerns aside for a little bit, can’t you?” Barbara responded.
“Alright, fine. Just not too much.” Diana begrudgingly agreed.
They grabbed some decorations out of the big box. First a bunch of string lights, which they wrapped around the roof.
“We have to turn those off before we go to bed. I can’t sleep with those on.” Diana said.
They ended off by wrapping their door with a drape, a red one with some linear designs and snowflakes on it.
Diana, despite her concerns, thought the decorations looked pretty nice.
That was not the thought process of another onlooker.
“Hey, Diana.” Said Chloe, standing on the other wall.
“What’s up with your door?” She asked.
“Uh… these are just some decorations that me and my roommates put up.” Diana replied.
“They look kinda stupid.” Chloe said.
“Well I just think you need better tastes.” Diana said in response.
“‘Better tastes’, get over yourself!” Chloe argued.
Diana didn't want to start this, and left.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Thanks for taking me with you, Diana!” Akko said.
Diana had Akko tag along for her holiday shopping session. She was looking for a suitable gift for Chloe.
“What are you gonna get?”
“Nothing for you, Akko.” Diana replied.
Akko had a look of disappointment for a little bit, then went back to her old, joyful demeanor.
“Chloe’s gonna be a hard nut to crack! Ya see how much she hates you?” Akko asked.
“Yes. Yes, Akko, she makes that very obvious. In fact, she hates me so much, she makes it a clear statement every time she sees me.” Diana replied.
One look down the aisle, and Diana sees a familiar face.
It was Amanda, trying to pick something out. After seeing Diana, she fumbled and put what she was holding down, pretending to look in the other direction.
Diana pretended not to see her and proceeded down the following isles.
She went to a clothing aisle. If she didn’t have any ideas for interesting gifts, some clothes will probably do. After all, they're a pretty common Christmas gift, right?
“Awww, Diana, why here?” Akko asked.
“Well, simply put, I’m out of ideas.” Diana replied.
“Did you have any ideas in the first place?” Akko teased.
“No. I never did. We’ve barely talked enough to understand each other…”
At that moment, Diana had a thought.
Was this intentional?
Did Luna Nova do this as a way to make us… get along?
Well, whatever they try to do, it’s not going to work. Chloe will never budge from her position.
“Uh… Diana? You look pretty lost in thought there…” Akko said.
“Yes… very lost…” Diana replied.
“Oh, Diana, look over there!” Akko shouted.
Although Diana was not too impressed with Akko’s “inside voice”, she looked where Akko was pointing.
It was a Santa Claus costume.
Of course, this was a very generic gift, but the exchange was coming in close, and the ideas were running thin.
“Alright, I’ll get it.” Diana said.
“Really? I originally suggested it as a sort of joke, but if you actually want to go through, that’s alright!” Akko replied.
“I don’t really have a choice, at this point.” Diana said. “Plus, It’d look nice on her anyway.”
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The day of the great exchange had come, and Diana was the most nervous of all.
After all, she had no idea what this girl liked, because she had never liked her.
The exchange was held by, of course, Ms. Ursula Castillis, who loved to have these little communication shindigs to “strengthen the bonds of the witches of Luna Nova”.
“So, I can assume you’ve communicated with the one who you’re getting the present for?” Ursula said.
“That would kill the point of the surprise. You’re supposed to use what you know about the person, maybe gather information from other people, like I did.” Amanda said in response.
“Well- I-”
“You must expect us to know each other already, don’t you, because you value communication so much, don’t you?” Hannah asked, almost maniacally.
Ursula was flustered by all of the questions. “Alright, let’s stop with the questions, now.”
Diana couldn’t help but agree. She was getting tired of all of the questioning.
“Can we please start now? I’m getting bored with you already.” Chloe said
“Alright, let’s start with your gift, Chloe! Diana, shall you?” Ursula asked.
Diana gave her box to Chloe, and she hesitantly opened it. She looked inside and saw… a Santa Claus costume.
“Diana, what is this?” Chloe asked.
“It’s a Santa costume. Me and Akko thought you’d look great in it.”
Chloe gained a slightly frustrated face.
“...Merry Christmas?” Diana said.
Ursula saw what was coming and moved the session on. Why don’t we move on to Diana’s gift. Amanda?
So that’s why she was stumbling in the store…
Diana opened up the box, and inside was an ornament.
“Amanda, what is this?” Diana asked.
“It’s to help you gain better decoration tastes.” Amanda replied.
Amanda and Chloe looked at each other.
Oh no they didn’t…

🦇𝒯he  𝒱isitor (Alucard Tepes x BlackReader) Pt.6
PART 6 SUMMARY:
Alucard has found you in the depths of his castle. You spend the night outside the castle together, and you bear witness to a few more of your host’s supernatural abilities. You learn more about him, about his life, and he learns of you. You’re both opening up...but what secrets remain? And are you ready to learn those too, under the light of the moon? Or will the shadows swallow you back up...?
─── Alucard x black female reader
─── imagery + fiction
─── explicit smut
─── Fantasy, vampires, hurt/comfort, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, magic user, cute bats, gardening, cooking, cottagecore MC, castlecore Alucard.
☾ previous. ☾ next.
┌───────────━┿──┿━──────────┐
Tumblr media
└───────────━┿──┿━──────────┘
You imagined Alucard’s return to his form to be something macabre and anatomical, full of moving muscle and crunching bones.
His change back is more like a whisper in the night. Something that is a part of him and not a gruesome, forced curse. Something inherent. Natural.
‘Supernatural.’
He looks to you then, his eyes just the same as they had been when he wore the skull of a wolf instead of that of a man’s.
“You shouldn’t wander,” he says simply, as if nothing has happened. Perhaps to him, nothing had. Another uneventful night in his mind, surely, you guess.
You nod, unsure whether to thank him for finding you deep in the castle’s nooks, or whether you should keep your silence and your grudge over his treatment of you the past few days.
You decide that the night’s events have made you rather tired and that you don’t possess much more energy for anger. Perhaps tomorrow.
“Thank you. For finding me,” you attempt to salvage.
“Always,” Alucard murmurs, before moving away and turning his head to see if you’ll follow.
You do. You feel yourself wonder at his choice of words just now, but smother the feeling.
‘No more investigating every little word or thought. I’m tired...’
You try to keep a respectable distance, yet you note that Alucard slows his pace until he is at your side. His eyes look ahead yet his expression is concerned, and he seems to be struggling with something.
“Earlier, I...” he sighs. “It seems that I keep finding myself in situations where I owe you an apology.”
“Yes. Well.” You don’t try to put on airs. As nice as it is to have someone apologize to you these days, it’d sooner be more pleasant to see action behind such words.
The road held its stories. Anyone could say anything. Never did that make it true.
You learned that the hard way.
“I am sorry,” Alucard states. “I often forget that how I partake in solitude and how I behave with others must differ. Another excuse, yes. Yet it truly is...too easy to forget.”
You shrug. You suppose that if you were a half-vampire holed away for God knows how long...you’d lack certain manners too.
“Does it make you...resentful…? That you must treat a human like me so carefully?”
Alucard shakes his head, looking straight down the dark corridor.
“No. It makes me…remember.”
‘Remember?’
“Remember what?” you ask.
Alucard’s face really shadows over then, and you find yourself realizing that as forlorn and cold as he’s looked since your stay, you have never seen him quite this sad.
“My friends,” he breathes, before turning on his heel and continuing down the corridor.
‘Friends,’ you think to yourself. ‘I never stopped to wonder about his friends. Family, yes. Enemies, certainly. Acquaintances, trysts, lovers perhaps…but never friends.’
“Even creatures of the night have friends,” he jests coolly, but there is truth in it.
You smile, drawing nearer as his steps slow from their hurried pace. He has seemed to remember himself. “You are no creature of the night, just lousy at waking early. And of course you’d have friends. Of course.”
“Of course?” His brow lifts.
“Well yes. Everyone has friends.”
“What about you then? Your friends.”
You pause, finding yourself taken aback.
What about you? What about your friends?
You’ve met them over the years on the road. Acquaintances, interests…and yes, even friends. But they never stayed. And neither did you. No addresses to pen to. No pigeons to send off. No magic mirrors of legend.
Just you.
“I suppose…I had them. Before.”
Alucard looks at you then, really looks at you. Then he gives you the saddest smile.
“How lonely.”
You do not know whether to be insulted or to cry. It was lonely. It is lonely.
Perhaps that’s why you fight so hard for attention now that you have something more permanent, more stable...? But you’re not sure how kindly you take that comment coming from someone who lived in a castle vast enough to house entire cities and yet held no one but himself. If anyone should be lonely, it would be Alucard, right...?
...Right?
You look at your skirts and the floor, thinking.
It was so easy for you to see his loneliness. His solitude wrapped around him like a cloak.
Yours? That was much harder. You hid it. And you smiled, and you said all the right things, but there it was. There it remained.
And perhaps there it would stay, no matter how many towns you went to or sights you saw. No matter how many things you pried out of your host who was clearly not used to company.
You were afraid you would...always be alone. In the middle of the woods, in a crowded room, none of it mattered it seemed.
And it felt like Alucard was looking straight into the heart of it, feeling awfully sorry for you. Maybe more sorry than you’d ever taken the time to feel for yourself.
You feel yourself leaning towards being upset when Alucard moves toward you, drawing your attention.
“It's dark outside and creatures roam, but...the moon is bright and I am here. We could see the garden. Unless you’re ready to retire for the night...?”
You find your eyes widening in pleasure, your heart vibrating with anticipation. A garden hardly holds up to all the wondrous things you’ve seen on your travels, but after a measurable time in the castle exploring its brickways and hidden delights (and horrors), you are ready for some fresh air that is not from a precipitous balcony.
“I want to see...but perhaps you’re right. I hardly think I could make it all the way out there and back as tired as I am.”
You feel yourself wilt at the thought that you will miss out on the outing you’d been hoping for. You had to be realistic with yourself, though. Traipsing these grounds was no cakewalk.
“There is a way.”
You perk up at that. “A secret passageway?”
“No. Well, probably, but no. There is a faster way.”
Alucard comes closer then, peering down at you. You can feel his presence rolling off of him, you can see the tight knitting in his thread-wear. You can even scent his cologne, something deep and dark and old.
“Are you afraid of bats?”
───────────━┿──┿━──────────
Alucard possesses many supernatural gifts. This, you learn tonight.
The white wolf had been illuminating enough. But now, as you are shrouded in darkness, hearing nothing but the sound of flapping and the feeling of thin-skinned wings touching you lightly all over, you wonder what you’ve gotten yourself into.
When the bats clear and your vision goes from total blackness to the vast night sky, you realize that you stand on solid ground now instead of shapeless, shifting swathes of night flyers.
The cloud of bats is silent save for flapping, with not a shrill or scream to be heard. The mass unfolds from around you, disappearing to the edges of your vision and recollecting out of sight with only sound to signify.
It happens so quickly, that by the time you are turning to follow the mist of the bats, you hear something that sounds akin to a whirlpool closing in on itself rapidly; you watch with wide eyes as the bats gather together, glowing in a red unshapely blob, before snapping into the image of a man. The last things to fade from the red glow into visceral reality are his eyes.
His gaze appears tinted with humor at your clear astonishment from the whole endeavor.
“See? Faster.”
“I...yes.”
“Did it hurt?” he asked. He stepped away and waited, and soon enough you realized he was leading you once again.
“No. It was odd, if anything.” You think it is a funny question, as you are sure he took the consideration to ensure that the journey didn’t hurt or startle.
You stay close, eyes widening as you spy where he was leading you.
The garden.
The same garden you had spotted so long ago on your way into this place. It is not as blooming as before, the soil covered in pine needles, foliage, and some areas with tarp.
“Ah, you prepared it well,” you note. “You do this before every winter season?”
“Not as thoroughly,” Alucard says, observing the state of the garden. “Usually I let most of them die and sprout unaided in the spring. Only this season did I harvest and prepare.”
“Why?” you wonder.
Alucard looks at you then, and suddenly you realize.
‘Because of me.’
Because of you...you who is wholly flesh and bone, you, a human, you who needs sustenance and warmth and care during the winter months...You are not supernatural like him, and you cannot last like him. This much he understands. He seemed to have taken the prospect seriously by doing all of this work.
You find yourself speechless. A nervous hand of yours draws to the tight curls on the nape of your neck, detangling them anxiously.
“I...thank you for thinking of me. I had...no idea.”
Alucard nods almost imperceptibly before kneeling down towards the drying garden bed, sifting leather-clad fingers through the dirt.
You follow after, the night’s dew glistening back the moonlight and softly dampening the edges of your dress.
The air is cooling, you realize. You find yourself gasping outside of your control.
“Ah—”
A sudden shiver runs up your body. Winter is upon you and the air’s chill only hints at that fact further.
You feel movement by you and you wrap your hands tightly around your kneeled form, forcing a chuckle through the tremors.
“The chill out here is something else, isn’t it?”
You feel it then.
A large, heavy cowl is laid over your shoulders, covering your frame entirely. You freeze, feeling the warmth emanating off of it. It smells deeply of the smoky scent you associate with...Alucard.
You turn and catch his gaze, set aback. He eyes lower to the lapels, and he angles towards the front of you so that he may draw the clasps closed, covering you completely. He begins to slowly stand, and as if in a trance, you stand with him; perhaps an unsuspecting outsider would assume the two of you to be in a dark, pagan dance on this moonlit night in the woods. Finally fully upright, he fastens the final clasp closed, but his hands do not release you; instead, they trace back to the collar and draw it together firmly, making the coat feel that much closer to your skin.
He has never met your gaze this long. He has never stood this close.
His amber eyes momentarily lower to the buttons, then the ground, and finally they lift to take you in once more.
“I’ve been careless.” The admission is low, almost like a whisper, despite the night’s quiet and the chilled breeze overhead.
Careless? About what? The night air? The revealing of his numerous abilities? Something else entirely...?
You open your mouth to respond but cannot find the words. Alucard fills the silence for you both.
“You are human. And you need more than I cared to give.”
You feel your mouth part in surprise, unsure of what to say.
“I...I don’t understand.”
Alucard leans down then, equaling himself to your height.
“You will.”
You find your body drawing even closer to him, the gap between the two of you growing infinitesimally smaller. He is like stone, still but steady. Something low brims between the empty space, and you feel like something going to occur—
“!”
A long, shrill, almost-human scream cuts through the dark night.
You feel your heart drop to the sole of your shoes. It sounded bad. Very bad.
Alucard’s expression hardly shifts to the level of fear you currently feel, but you do spot a hardening in his look. Concern bleeds into his face as he turns over his shoulder, seemingly listening to something you can’t hear.
“We’d better be on our way then.”
You nod, eager to get out of there.
“Is that a…night creature?”
“Yes. You’ve met one already, I presume.”
You sigh, agreeing. “Ever since I stepped foot in Wallachia, unfortunately. This place seems to be crawling with them.”
Alucard nods, all-too knowing.
The scream comes again, and this time, it sounds far too close.
Alucard doesn’t look as bothered as you feel inside. You begin attempting to chat away the fear.
“They don’t go down easy. Well…” you eye him warily, his stature, his gaze. “...maybe not for me.”
Alucard smirks then, shrugging.
“It’s a bit late for a needless fight. Let’s go back.”
You nod, glad for the warmth from his coat. The scream arises again, and you jump this time. It sounds even closer. Maybe it sniffed you both out?
“Should we run?” You ask with a shake in your voice, hearing something hulking and hissing fighting through the trees on yonder.
You feel as though you’ll see some hellish beast any minute.
“Hold on.”
You feel a hand grab you round the waist, and before you know it, you’re in the air hovering like a bird in the sky. You don’t even have time to log the latest ability of your host that you’ve discovered because you’re too preoccupied with watching the ground fall away from you both.
You shriek, closing your eyes and tucking your face away from the dizzying heights into the nearest solid surface, Alucard’s lapels. You try to ignore that you’ve never been quite this close to Alucard, the tufts of his blouse rubbing against your eyelids and lips, the thick material of his jacket flapping near your ear in the wind. You can feel your own skirts tousle about in the air dangerously, but you don’t have the heart to reach down and keep them close to your thighs.
Luckily, Alucard is the sort of supernatural gentleman to consider such things; he wraps his other arm underneath your legs, tucking in your skirts tight in his grasp as you bend, now held like a bride or a child. It is not enough to make you pull away from the illusory safety of his bosom and see just how far the ground is now below you both.
You shake and wonder if he feels the tremors. Your question is answered once you feel his face lower to gaze at you assumedly, his chin grazing your scalp and settling there easily.
“Is this worse than the trip here?” He wondered aloud.
The noise you let out is far from proper and you feel yourself shaking harder from the thrill of being up so high. The bats had hidden the last trip from your sight. It hardly felt like you were moving! Now, however...? You could feel and see everything, with only Alucard as an anchor to hold. Clearly he was used to being a night bird, but you were not. Not yet.
“Don’t look, if it scares you,” Alucard advises before jetting you both off towards the castle.
───────────━┿──┿━──────────
That night at the table is quiet.
You requested a drink before retiring as the journey out into the night air has left you parched.
Alucard not only obliged, but sought to escort you to the kitchens. Even he seemed to understand the difference of mood in the castle at night compared to the day. His company is a welcomed circumstance.
You sit before one another at the place you last were not so long ago, where your argument took place only hours before.
The tension from that last talk seems to still have a hold on the setting, you and Alucard both choosing silence for the moment. Tea steams between you both, a pot full. Your cup is draining as you quench yourself, but Alucard’s is empty.
‘Is he not thirsty?’ you wonder.
“Alucard, aren’t you parched?” You gesture towards the tea but Alucard will look at nothing else in the room but you.
“You were right. Before.” he admits. “I do not take human blood. I can. But I won’t.”
You nod, letting him unveil himself to you.
“Why lie?”
He sighs heavily, wrangling with something.
“It is difficult to...learn others. Sometimes it feels as though it is for nothing. They all pass by so quickly.”
‘Pass by? What does that mean?’
“Well, traveler I may be, I am here to stay for as long as you’ll have me. I like it here. I hoped I wasn’t burdening you.”
Alucard seems to soothe at that, his shoulders lowering a fraction and his brow easing.
“No. Nothing of the sort.”
You nod then, feeling like you’re both back where you started in a sense. He wants you there, you want to be there, but his actions say a different story at times and it confuses you. At least one thing is settled...
“Why won’t you drink blood if it is beneficial for you?”
He looks shocked then; not that you asked seemingly, but at the way you asked. You wonder if he expected a more angered response from your end towards his vampirism. If he expected disgust. But you know who you look at and where you are. You may not know exactly who Alucard is, but you know what he is. Half a man, half a vampire, and more things beyond either category entirely.
Those other things are more interesting to you anyway.
Learning what Alucard is was an old task. Learning who he is will be the challenge. As will it be for him to learn of you.
He considers your question for a moment and you almost believe he will not answer it, not until he begins to speak.
“My father...”
You know not if your eyes play tricks on you, but the room almost seems to darken. The candles lower and the fireplace hushes its crackling.
Even dead, the castle remembers its owner.
Alucard presses on.
“...he drank before. I was not alive to see it. But I know. He ceased the drinking once he met my mother. He was strong enough to go without it, as moral as one such as himself could manage. Stories may say otherwise, but I know this to be true. They were content for many years. After her loss, he drank once again. Insurmountably. None of it quenched him. None of it was enough.”
You feel your face fall. His eyes, as gold as they are...they look so empty right now.
“I will not drink. Not that.”
You sit back, thinking to yourself. Alucard has shared quite a large piece of himself that he keeps hidden away. Even speaking it seemed to cause him pain. And you wonder to yourself as a human woman, what kind of existence it is to be permanently at odds with yourself...your nature singing for one thing, your morality reaching for another. Always at odds, always in a tension.
You see it in Alucard, who you know now to be good. Maybe not open, maybe not the most considerate, but good. And in someone like Dracula, you wonder what kind of person Alucard’s mother was to make such a notoriously cruel creature...a powerful creature... put himself at odds with his own nature like that for her sake. And find happiness in it?
“I understand better now. Your mother must have been a unique person, Alucard.”
Alucard nods, eyes to the table, searching through memories only seen to him.
“She was.”
It is quiet for a moment, the silence comfortable. Then something seems to spark in Alucard’s eyes before he lifts his gaze to you, curious.
“What of your mother?”
You feel yourself freeze.
‘What?’
“I...” you begin, searching. “We were not close. My story is not so interesting. I will tell you about it on a different night.”
Alucard’s warm look melts away at your expression, and you quickly clear it up to avoid further investigation.
‘You madame, are a hypocrite...but for right now, I can live with that.’
Sensing your discomfort, Alucard nods to the window.
“The morning sun will rise anytime now. We’ve spent the night out and about, and you will tire soon. Even if it is a late morning for us both...”
You watch him, curious as to where he intends to go with this.
“...Yes?”
“...Would you accompany me to the garden once more after resting? There are some final portions of harvest that will not fit in storage. I sought to head into a different town to give them away or to trade.”
Alucard would not need the help of his visitor to sell a few vegetables on the road. He probably wouldn’t go through the trouble of selling any and just compost or dispose of it all, if not for you.
‘So he meant his apology. He is not annoyed by my presence. He desires it. And he seeks to prove it.’
You smile then, plucking up the teapot from between you two and pouring into his cup.
“I’d be happy to come along. And since we have a long day ahead of us, I insist you sustain yourself.”
You fill his cup and it steams. Pulling away, you gesture at the tea.
“Just because you do not drink blood does not mean that you do not drink at all,” you tease. “And perhaps in town we’ll find cider or ale at this time of year. Do you drink spirits, or is that off-limits also?”
Alucard shakes his head and smirks, his sharp fangs in clear view but his pleasure even more so. It sends a hair-raising thrill through you, and you bring your legs together under the wooden table. You hope he does not see, but you are not so sure; he lifts the cup of tea to his lips, gazing at you.
“I think I’ll manage.”
