All of the Times Ateez Has Been Plagiarized (That I Know Of, So Far)

For legal purposes, these are all allegations.

So, I’m making this little essay/list/thing partly for myself (because I know *I* keep forgetting all of these instances) and partly because I always see incomplete lists going around and it annoys me a little that some of the people on this list seem to have been forgotten for whatever reason. Also, a lot of lists I’ve seen aren’t in chronological order? Which I just find odd. I’m going to try and include as many links as I can to articles, videos, etc, and I’ll be including pictures from them here, just to make it easier for you lovely readers.

(Also, if you think I'me being biased towards koreaboo articles, it's only because they embedded the tweets they used correctly, so they actually click through. Other sites I looked at, either the tweets show an error, or they're static images of low quality.)

MONOPOLY, HOLY MOLY – 2020 (Sept)

I can’t find anything about this artist, it seems to be only one person so maybe they’re just releasing it for fun? They plagiarized Treasure: Epilogue Action To Answer (and not even well, if you look at the shape of the black bar closely).

They did end up apologizing and changing the cover to something else, so at least they have more integrity than some of the other people on this list.

Ammonit, Reverse – 2021 (Oct)

Another small artist or group, Ammonit plagiarized the style of the Fever series album covers. Like Monopoly, Ammonit also changed their cover later. Though I haven’t seen whether or not they issued an apology, at least they changed it.

TRINITY, Life Ain’t Over – 2021 (Dec)

For their 2021 release of *Life Ain’t Over* Thai three-member group TRINITY copied Ateez’s Deja Vu photoshoot (the one member even having the same shirt as wooyoung), and their Fireworks mv. I’m actually not sure if they had ever acknowledged that they were being accused of plagiarism or not or apologized when I tried searching. (I thought someone had made a video comparing the two, but I can’t seem to find it.)

Now we get into Ateez’s worst year for plagiarism (so far)...

Soyeon, Sun – 2022 (Feb)

This is probably one of the biggest ones to happen, I won’t lie. I remember the indignation of Atiny, the disappointment of (G)-IDLE fans, and general disappointment and confusion by Knets.

This was the finale of the survival show My Teenage Girl, and the song in the video, Sun, was written for the contestants by (G)-IDLE member, Soyeon. The chorus sounds like a pitched up version of the chorus from Ateez’s Wave.

At first people wondered if it was maybe a sample, but it wasn’t. To sum up the initial discussion:

Then on Feb 28th it got weird, because suddenly EDEN-ary (Ateez’s production team) had a credit on the song on Bugs (though this wasn’t changed on other platforms).

Also on the 28th, KQ issued a statement after receiving reports from fans about the similarity:

“On the 27th, the Challenge Team’s stage, called ‘SUN’, was broadcast for the first round of the FINALs on My Teenage Girl. Afterward, we received multiple reports through the company’s official channel and mails from webmasters that the song’s chorus melody was similar to ATEEZ’s ‘WAVE’, which was released in 2019. As the company was monitoring the related issue, they discovered that the company’s producing team, Eden-ary, was listed in the credits for ‘SUN.’ We want to clarify that we did not have any discussions before with the company or Eden-ary. In hopes of respecting creators and their unique works and in hopes that any misinformation can be corrected, we ask everyone to refrain from making unreasonable assumptions regarding the issue. Thank you.”

So they did not have discussions with CUBE about the use of Wave prior to the premier of Sun on MBC.

CUBE then released a statement:

“Hello, this is CUBE Entertainment. We would like to explain what happened on MBC’s My Teenage Girl regarding the song ‘SUN’ and (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon. First, we sincerely apologize for the concerns caused by the production of the song ‘SUN.’ Following the broadcast, through monitoring the episode, we recognized some of the similarities in the two melodies. Our artist immediately reached out to the original composer to explain the situation and apologize. In this process, especially since we admitted the similarities, we decided the song credits should be edited and properly given to the original composer. Soyeon discussed this option with the original composer and we asked the producers of the show to implement the credit change.”

So their statement seems to be that they realized the similarities after, and that Soyeon contacted EDEN-ary and then added them to the song credits. Their statement continues:

“An hour before the song’s release, however, the original composer’s agency declined our suggestion to be credited. We asked the producers of the show to undo the credit change but the change could not be applied and the song became released as-is.”

So, an hour before the show aired, they called up KQ, KQ declined a song credit (I would guess because it sort of made it look like a collaboration and let CUBE/Soyeon off the hook for plagiarism), and it was too late to change it.

Soyeon’s statement is a little different:

“After the episode aired, I thought I should apologize to the original composer for some of the similarities that have been suggested. So I got in touch with the original composer, explained what happened, and apologized for it.”

In that, in her recounting of events, her apology took place *after* the show aired.

After everything died down, CUBE registered the song copyright and it seemed like comments regarding the controversy were disappearing? No clue what that’s about.

NMIXX, OO – 2022 (Feb)

Someone at JYP is a BIG Ateez fan, I think. There are similarities between the look of their mvs (NMIXX even having some locations be the same as Ateez’s mvs), but there’s similarities with lyrics, graphic design choices, and lore. Basically, the only thing that isn’t similar is their sound.

The studio DIGIPEDI has worked with Ateez before and worked on NMIXX’s O.O video, but Illusion (the mv that NMIXX’s debut seems to mirror most strongly) is not one that DIGIPEDI worked on.

Now, while it’s not as if another group can’t have a pirate ship, can’t have a dreamy landscape - in fact, the group Treasure has a flying ship and a dreamy landscape in some of their mvs - but, as someone observed:

(I apologize for having to screencap a tweet from an article, but Mr. Muskrat has made his website so unusable that I can’t even find the original tweet.)

Even if the production team at JYP somehow happened on the same concept and look that Ateez has used for years, it would still be on them to realize, “Oops, this is too similar, we need to change something before people think we’re copying,” and then change the things that were too similar so they didn’t look like they had no ideas. Marketing research is a thing that companies that make stuff (even music) do as a prelude to starting a project, so I don't understand why it seems like JYP's team didn't do any.

Like, Charles Dickens had books where people were arrested for stealing bread, Les Miserables has a main character arrested for stealing bread, the Disney movie Aladdin has a character almost arrested for stealing bread; having the action “someone stealing bread” doesn’t mean that all of those creators have stolen the idea from each other, the idea exists as an idea a lot of people have. Just like flying ships and flying whales (Gojira, anybody?) and pirates and dreamlands aren’t owned by anybody - not even Ateez - it’s when you use all the ideas someone else has already used, and you use them in a way that looks JUST like the person or people you got the ideas from that it starts to become a problem. You can take inspiration from someone or something else, but you can’t just take That Thing and make it “2 inches to the left,” you know? For instance, I might read Lord of the Rings and want to write a book with elves and dwarves and a terrifyingly evil bad guy with a ring - those are all things in other stories that no one owns - but I CAN’T write a story where a group of people take a ring once owned by a terrifyingly evil bad guy and bring it to a volcano to throw it in, I have to write a different story where the ring does something else and the elves and dwarves maybe won’t even work together and there’s a different type of battle, and the bad guy looks a different way and maybe isn’t even a guy, and the world doesn’t look like Middle Earth-- and definitely I can’t use hobbits because they’re legally owned by the Tolkien estate because they were his original idea (that’s why they’re called “halflings” in DND, because of legal reasons.)

Anyway, back to normalcy. Please direct your attention to the lyrics portion of this video:

There’s a lot of similarities with their lyrics as well, so I don’t think NMIXX’s look kind of being “Ateez but 2 inches to the left” is as coincidental as some people wanted others to believe.

(PS: this is not me hating on the girls in NMIXX at all, they seem talented and nice. This is about one of the Big Three companies having a production team that doesn't need to copy others but seem to have done so anyway. But, since their look and even their sound seems to have changed a whole hell of a lot since debut, it seems like JYP has sort of abandoned NMIXX’s look at debut?)

Eltee Skhillz, Odg – 2022 (Mar)

I think I have a moral obligation to make the joke, “His name is Eltee Skhillz [elite skills], but the only thing he’s skilled at is not having his own ideas.” (I think I’m allowed to be salty, he really went frame by frame as he copied.)

Eltee Skhillz (or someone in his team) put in the youtube description of the mv, “Partly inspired by ATEEZ "The Real" and "Say my name" music video”. Please see my earlier tangent about how inspiration and copying are not the same.

Vata, New Thing choreo – 2022 (Oct)

This accusation was about a point of choreography. On the dance competition show Street Man Fighter, We Dem Boyz leader Vata performed a dance move that looked pretty similar to Atinys:

This is straight up the Driving move from Ateez’s first comeback, Say My Name. It’s in between a “starting a bike” move and a “getting off a bike move”, but the move in between is the SMN Driving move.

Interestingly enough, there’s a moment in Street Man Fighter where We Dem Boyz is unhappy that it seems that another group has copied their choreography, and they say, “They copied about four counts,” of the choreo, from 1:48 - 1:54:

I WISH I could find this other video, where they were in the middle of a dance battle on the show, and Vata copied another groups move. The other group got annoyed and started arguing and Vata and his group said, “If it’s three beats, we’ll consider it copied.” Meaning: if someone does 1 oe 2 beats of someone else's move, it's not copied, but 3 or more beats is. I just found that so funny because Vata insists he didn’t copy the SMN move, but it’s 3 or 4 beats, both of which match with WDB's (conflicting) arguments for why they didn't copy other teams during Street Man Fighter.

(If anyone finds that clip, please let me know. I saw it around the time everything was happening but I can’t find it now. It was sort of dark and the two groups were in kind of a tight ring as the members of each were dance battling and the camera angle was from higher up.)

During the show the groups were allowed to “vandalize” each other’s rooms earlier in the season, and other groups wrote some interesting things on We Dem Boyz flag:

JBLAZE (along with Anze Skrube and Josh Smith) are the choreographers who created the dance for Say My Name (Anze credited Josh with creating the Drive move). Coincidentally, Melvin Timtim is another choreographer who also worked with Ateez, so that’s kind of interesting that the other groups accused WDB of copying him as well. It seems as if Vata has a well known history (in the dance community) of copying other choreographers.

Anze Skrube took to Instagram to reblog some posts regarding the situation (there was more than just this, he was popping off for days) and talked about it on his Stories:

Mnet also coddled Vata, not taking a stance, but saying "We are in the midst of arranging a position while respecting the situation of the artist (Vata) as much as possible." Which fans HATED, because - if anyone needs to be respected here - it’s the people who were stolen from, not the one doing the stealing. (What the *fuck* Mnet? Why are you like this? This is why kpop fans use a snake emoji when they talk about you and how shady you are.)

Vata made an apology:

“This is Vata. I thought this would be a cold wind that would breeze by, but I am writing this to stop the misunderstandings. When I first heard the song, I thought of the wilderness and so I made the intro of riding a horse or motorcycle. That’s why in the beginning, there is a motion of kicking to start the engine and a motion of getting off the bike. These are parts of one move that transition from one to the other. I think the choreography its being compared to has a different transition and means something different entirely. As someone who loves the dance culture, I believe it is at its best when the artist and dancer respect one another. It saddens me to see that this isn’t taking place. Regardless of the reason, I apologize to viewers of Street Man Fighter and to those who root for We Dem Boyz for any controversy that had occurred on my behalf. I will repay you by putting on a better stage.”

I just have to say: this really reads like one of those youtube apologies, where the youtuber deflects and doesn’t want to be held accountable for their actions. He also seems to say that Wooyoung and Anze are being disrespectful by calling him out. (And he even said "I was hoping this would blow over" I don't think you're supposed to say that in your "apology" even if you were thinking it, homes."

While everyone was doing WDB's dance on tiktok, San did the LAW challenge instead (which I feel is a better song anyway, but that's just me) and it seemed that, aside from Wooyoung's call out, and San's snub, KQ was not commenting on it.

Atiny, meanwhile, streamed Say My Name and made art about respecting artists (what Vata had NOT done to Ateez). There were hashtags and SMN challenges and tweets galore:

The thing that made this whole incident REALLY strange, is that the dance Vata had plagiarized the Drive move for was for the kpop artist Zico… who is managed under KQ. So, when the music video for Zico’s song, New Thing, came out, it lacked the drive move at the beginning:

So all the people trying to say that it wasn’t copied or tried to defend Vata (I saw someone say they would defend him because he’s more famous than Ateez… please lick boots somewhere else) didn’t matter because… Zico and KQ thought it was too similar to let it slide.

(Oh! Also, Carats, EXO-Ls, Shawols, Ahgases, Monbebes, ARMYs, ELFs, and Inspirits were spotting tweeting on Atinys’ behalf, so I would like to personally thank our friends who stan other groups for their help and support. The kpop world needs some love more often than not, because we are not each other’s enemy… capitalism is our enemy.)

Super Dragon, Revolution – 2023 (Feb)

I hate trying to look this group up because the SEO for their name is GOD awful. Like you could not pick two more common words to name something. It’s also the name of several restaurants, the co-creator of a California wrestling promotion, and - of course - part of a title for a Dragon Ball series.

Maybe that’s why this is probably the incident I see the least. Maybe it just gets lost in the SEO sauce and no one even sees it so it’s just flying under the radar? Which is weird, because it’s like a combination of the TRINITY incident and the incident that will come next. A Frankensteinian amalgamation of a lack of imagination, if you will.

But oh, oho! I have twitter-- I don’t have twitter, I have *a friend who has twitter,* and she messaged me very early in the morning on February 21st to send me a bunch of tweets of this band:

The thing that - I don’t know if I find it the funniest or if I hate it the most - but the thing is… there’s such a *severe* LACK of imagination. I’m inspired by things all the time, people, places, things, any kind of nouns, inspire me… but like I said earlier, there’s a difference between writing a story with elves and dwarves and just rewriting Lord of the Rings and pretending it’s your own. And this is just a poor man’s version of Wonderland.

3WICH, Kicking Your Face – 2023 (Sept)

On the Taiwanese music competition show, Music Maker, group 3WICH had a song that didn’t just seem similar to Ateez’s Guerrilla, but seemed to be almost a carbon copy:

If you listen to the whole song, it’s literally just been skinned so they could put new lyrics. Originally, 3WICH and their composer, Jhen F, did a livestream where they denied there was any plagiarism, and at first the song had been left up pending investigation, but was soon taken down until the copyright issues could be clarified. The president of the TV station that ran Music Maker, Huang Liang-hsun, made a statement:

Nimona headcanons that I wrote in like 15 minutes don’t judge me

I feel like both Bal and Ambrosius are the kinds of people who try and act like they’re not sick

Bal has an amazing immune system he rarely if ever gets sick

But when he does get sick he’ll be in absolute denial about it

If someone confronts him all he’ll say is “No I’m fine I don't get sick” and then he’ll push himself until he’s literally sitting in a hospital still acting like he’s not sick

Ambrosius has the worst immune system you can possibly imagine

Someone sneezes on this boy and he’s sick for the next two weeks

But he’s also sick enough times that he’s convinced himself that he can work through anything

After a while he’s literally forced to relax and be taken care of and he complains the entire time that he should be working

I’ve kind of alluded to this headcanon but I don’t think Nimona can get sick

But if she could get sick she would be the most annoying person known to mankind

She would have a sore throat and make the biggest deal about it and force the boys to take care of her

And the boys will comply because this is one of the few times that Nimona lets them take care of her

I mentioned in this post tags that they all hand make every single present

The first thing that Bal ever made/gave Ambrosius was welded rose that he made out of scrap metal

He thought it was a stupid present but Ambrosius got super emotional and said it was the best present he had ever received

Bal highly doubted that cause Ambrosius literally got a car as a birthday present once

But then he saw it in a little vase that Ambrosius made and it became kind of a tradition after that

During every big event in their lives Bal welded Ambrosius a rose and he kept every single one

By the time the knighting ceremony rolled around he had close to 80

Ambrosius made more heavy-duty vases just to hold all of the flowers

It’s kind of sweet because you can see both of their hobbies improving as the years go on

The first gift Bal ever got from Ambrosius was a sweater he crochet himself

He made it cause he knows that Bal runs cold and he would make off-handed comments about it every once and a while

He was kind of nervous cause he never took on a project that big before

Bal wore it all the damn time

He treated that sweater like it was gold which is why he was crushed when it started unraveling

He went to Ambrosius sobbing with an arm full of yarn apologizing and saying he ruined it

Mind you he gave him that sweater like 5 years prior and had knitted and crocheted him a million things afterwards

It was a miracle that the sweater lasted as long as it did

He spent the entire night consoling him while asking for his input on the new one he was currently working on

The first gift Bal and Ambrosius gave Nimona made him tear up and cling to them as an actual koala for the rest of the night

Bal welded him a little dragon and Ambrosius crocheted him a little rhino

The first gift Nimona gave the boys was for both of them

It was a painting of the three of them the boys thought it was beautiful but also incredibly out of character

Until they gave them the second painting of the three of them fighting guards as the institute burned down behind them

The boys framed both and hung them in the living room

Whenever Ambrosius goes anywhere he’s swarmed by groups of people and sometimes those people will ask questions about his clothes and jewelry

And he gets this proud look in his eyes while he says “Oh my kid made this in the living room 15 minutes before I left the house”

When Bal proposed he actually made both the engagement and their wedding rings

He always got compliments on both rings and Ambrosius would let them get a better look while gushing about all the little details that were put into it

And this doesn’t stop when Bal and Nimona are around either

In fact he’ll drag them over and gush about them while they get progressively more embarrassed

SMALLEST VS BIGGEST CAR - Hands down SUCH a banger, the chemistry between all these TERRIFIED mfs and the surprise guest (ᴉɾǝp upside down) ik the sidemen often feel overproduced, but this felt like such a genuine shiggles vid. Oh, and that kiss between Ethan and mystery guest was err... yeah.

So now that I've seen the last season of the Nine Realms, I can finally give my own personal review on it, and the last seeing as how this was the last season and TNR is officially over.

So needless to say SPOILERS BELOW! PLEASE STOP READING HERE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LATEST SEASON AND DON'T WANT SPOILERS!!!

So let me start out on a, sadly poor note with this: this season was super disappointing... The big finale, the end-all, the conclusion to The Nine Realms was...flat. Boring. Pointless. Like, this was actually probably one of the more poorer seasons...

So let's start with The World Serpent (Yeah, I can't spell the other name, so I'll just refer to it as 'The Serpent' for ease. This dragon was honestly a really cool design, but not as a "predator of all dragons and the destroyer of The Hidden World". First off, a top-tier predatory animal that is meant to destroy all dragons and the dragon ecosystem...doesn't make sense. Why would an animal like that exist??? If The Hidden World is supposed to be this perfect dragon paradise, then why is there a dragon that literally goes against this notion. Also, this dragon was literally seen poorly trying to catch a terrible terror in a flock of three that was just casually flying around its face like a cat trying to catch a fly and not doing very good at it. This is the dragon that can supposedly take down any dragon such as a Red Death? A bewilderbeast? Any titan-class dragon? No, I don't think so. The poisonous gas attack it has is powerful, but this dragon just doesn't scream "Destroyer of The Hidden World" to me. Not that a dragon that is destined to destroy the world all the dragons that are damned there forever makes sense anyways, but still. On top of that, this dragon spent most of its time "defeating the Riders" by hitting them with the same amount of power any other dragon enemy has and then just taking off. That was pretty much it. It hit once or twice then ran away. The series literally only made this thing to be "unbeatable" because they made the Riders' dragons have 2 HP per battle and have the bad guy dip afterward, thus drawing this out through the entirety of the season. This dragon wasn't powerful, it was long-winded. Finally, the final battle was so.......boring? The group brought in an "Army Of Dragons" to defeat this thing, which would have been cool if it weren't for the fact that they basically just brought one or two dragons a piece. That's not an army and if a handful of common dragons with two special bosses (the Faultripper and the Sky Torcher) is all that it took to beat this thing, then this dragon was never the ultimate dragon destroyer the legends made it out to be. I could really go more into how The Serpant and the battles with it were pointless, boring, and just anti-climatic, but this section has gotten long enough, so I'll leave it at this.

Next up, Tom and Jun. Their romance drama was so pointless and added literally nothing to the story. This is the last season and it's only 6 episodes long. They don't need teen romance side-drama this late into the series, they need to concentrate on what was supposed to be the issue at hand. That, and Jun breaking it off with Tom over him doing the same thing he's always done since Season 1 really shows their compatibility as a romantic duo. But yeah, their whole romance here was just completely pointless and added nothing to the series. Also, Alex and Eugene was also completely unnecessary with what they were trying to build.

Then we have the villains. So Buzzsaw's goons and Linda are the most pointless characters in the villain side of things. The bumbling side kicks to a villain can be charming, but when every villain's group are just kids in adult bodies that still need to be babysat or else they can't do anything right, then it gets annoying and kind of pointless. Linda was probably the worst of them. As for Buzzsaw, his redemption was too much a play off of Dagur and, in my opinion very unnecessary. It felt like they only redeemed him because they didn't need him anymore, but didn't have the time to properly deal with him. As for Sledkin, she was actually a decent villain for what the series was giving, but ultimately fell into the weak trope of "I'm so desperately obsessed over my final goal that I am just throwing self preservation out the window so I can be pointlessly reckless despite being a very intelligent individual" and ended up getting killed over it (which I'm surprised TNR actually had a human death in this).

So let's finally move to my final complaints with this season:

-Thunder being "alpha" is bullshit. There is no way the night lights (yes, even the Elder Night Light) are the "Kings of Dragons" when most dragons didn't give them two glances. So there is no way Thunder is an alpha. I'm sorry, but no. Also, with the Elder Night Light passing, it's nice to see how literally no one cared since Thunder can glow like a radioactive lightbulb now, I guess. They grieved Sledkin more than this dragon. Thunder hardly even cared. Along with the night light thing, Thunder's family is not only useless in the series, but seeing as how we never get a real reason as to why night lights are breeding with each other, I am not convinced that this family line isn't just a messed up family wreath than a family tree at this point. Nothing was explained, so the fans only have the fact that there were only 3 night lights from Toothless (Toothless who was basically never mentioned in this series) and the Light Fury (who wasn't mentioned at all) and no others exist, but we see night lights having kids with each other....I....ew.

-The Raker episode was literally just not necessary and could have been left out altogether and nothing change. This is the last season, we don't need pointless spoilers.

-Olivia was being built as a true character earlier in the series, shame she was basically forgotten about. Same for the other parents.

-The Gods Realm was boring and really uninteresting to look at. Like...it might as well have been any chamber in any cave around the world, not the "Lungs of the Hidden World", which the dragonite still makes no sense and there's no way they would have run out of oxygen in that massive chamber that quickly with the stone removed. None of that made sense.

-There's no way Tom would have ever learned how to communicate with dragons with Valka's staff. I don't know where they got this "Hypnotizing" thing from, but Valka lived alone with dragons for 20 years. She communicated and learned their language that she developed replications of in her own way. Tom cannot learn that in a short montage because Valka's power with dragons came from her connection and understanding from more time of experience with dragons alone than Tom has even been alive for. The staff was a tool, not the power itself. That, and Hiccup would never use his mother's staff. That's A. not his approach to dragons anyway, and B. his mother's. Valka most likely would have had her burial with that staff. Oh, and it's nice to see yet another thing just be casually destroyed and not cared about.

-And I think the last thing I've got for this massive post is the ending. Yes, the dragons leave. What a surprise. This time, the dragons choose to leave and more or less say "Sorry kids, you guys...eh, kinda suck.". The Riders were basically pleading with their dragons (mostly Tom) that there had to be another way and the dragons wouldn't even let them touch them anymore. They acted like they had their fun and it's gone stale so it's time to leave. Great...bond??? Of course, it was over "HOOMANS BAD." so why bother to fix the world when you can just hide in a dead-looking cave system forever? Right? Not only that, but the group itself also split up, expect for Tom and Jun of course, because how else can the series end off with the romance that they pointlessly shoved in.

So yeah, this season was......not good. I really had my hopes out for the series ending much more interestingly, but in the end, with the dragons shoving themselves away again, nothing came from this series other than Tom gets a girlfriend and the group learns the true power of video calls. So in all, I give TNR a personal 5-6/10.

fear/trauma headcanons because i want them to suffer

gray and juvia have violent flashbacks whenever they see collars like what invel used

gray is far more violent than juvia

gray is more likely to attack anyone who tries to help him viciously unless its juvia but then hed think she was like the ur that neinhart summoned and will be cautious to the point of weak attacks meant to keep her away

juvia will lash out wildly but eventually will curl into a ball (as a human or as water depends on if she could hear gray) and simply cry. rain is summoned

canonically gajeel views crucification as his worst memories. headcanonically he gets shaky and stuttery and he cant tell if its a panic attack or not but he doesnt really tell anyone bc he thinks he deserves it for what he did to levy jet and droy

natsu gets very anxious around any flame

when natsu was with igneel he would have a complete meltdown whenever he saw fire. made it very difficult to learn yknow fire dragon slaying magic.

after natsu got to fairy tail he was mostly fine with his own flames but like. macao. noooooooo. hell even the fireplace. noooooo no no nonononono

he never knew why until he got some memories unlocked during the alvarez shit. then he still had a fear of uncontrolled fire/his fire becoming uncontrollable

wendy will stay awake all night sometimes, trying to find/cast enchantments that will protect her mind and body from ever being taken over/altered ever again

erza used to get angry whenever she saw any chains. even the tiny ones for a necklace. she got angry to cover her fear of them. a pickaxe also gets her angry

levy will avoid going near long pieces of anything hard. shes scared shell trip and fall and impale herself on them. jet and droy used to be like that but after the 7 years they just became super careful around it

lucy is so close to making a deal with the celestial spirit king to allow gate keys of all kinds to be requip-ible. she doesnt care what the price is she just wants to make sure she will never lose her friends again. unless the price is losing a friend again in which case she might just murder the fucking king

after the last acnologia thing at least gray lucy and happy are afraid of literally Everything when someone's behind them. if the person laughs if they talk if they walk if they trip if they do nothing. they think theyre either being attacked or kidnapped or killed

laxus and erik (maybe sting and rogue too) are scared of lacrima

when the communication lacrima, the only one they ever bothered with, was big enough that youd have trouble carrying it with both hands, they were mostly okay. just had to have it across the room with no one else in the room

after the com lacrima became tiny phones they just. never use it. or if they are forced to then its as far from them as possible. they wont hold it. its great bc if the phone is close to their ear then its way too loud but its terrible bc they have to yell responses unless its another slayer

pantherlily will not go near laxus. if someones holding him and they go to walk past laxus he will get out of their hold and fly in a big circle around him before going back to the persons arms/shoulder/whatever. he knows logically that laxus wont summon thunder just bc lily got close but also big boom noise reminds him of far too many awful things from edolas

carla happy frosch and lector are also scared of thunder. all exceeds are. those four have just been on earth land long enough to know itll most likely be okay. happy has been near laxus enough to know hell just absorb it if it gets close to the guild

cana hates hospitals. even a medical area or something where the injured/sick rest. too many bad experiences there. too much death. it doesnt help that her fortune telling is itching to show how people will be affected by what ails them

all of the dragon slayers have a fear of abandonment. be it their first human families, the dragons (if applicable), the second families (again if applicable), the guilds, the exceeds (you get the gist), friends, whatever. they have been left too often to expect people to stay for any amount of time, but by the gods does it burn when anyone leaves even for a moment

mystogan and porlyusica feared an anima would drag them back to edolas every single fucking day.

now porlyusica fears it, even after they all reassured her mystogan took care of them all.

and mystogan fears that he didnt stop the animas, and hell suddenly have a lacrima of his family back on his doorstep

Sora's speech in DR pt. 2 is so wildly important to me because they touched on something I never expected to be properly handled in a show like ninjago: the fact that systems designed to oppress the most marginalized in society tend to oppress everyone else in more subtle ways, too, and only truly benefit the few elites at the top.

The dragons in Imperium have it the worst, because they are treated as objects and literally tortured for resources. But someone who is willing to treat one group like "mindless beasts" is also willing to treat other groups that way, i.e. everyone in the kingdom.

The media control combined with oppression of the dragons led Sora to be oppressed also, just for not partaking in the existing oppression. A society that wants an immovable hierarchy has to punish anyone who tries to move out of that hierarchy, even those in the middle or higher up on the totem pole. If that happened to Sora, who knows how many others had similar experiences that got swept under the rug or successfully repressed?

So heck yeah, "we are all dragons!" We can all band together to fight oppression. It sounds a bit silly compared with more serious shows, but the ideology behind it is super important, and I'm hyped to see it in children's TV.

2) Who they want to please the most.

Alicent, without a doubt.

I feel like he’d want to impress literally everyone, otherwise he wouldn’t have made himself this sort of indestructible machine of a man to make up for his eye, but honestly? If Alicent sees in him a good son, a good man, than he can be at peace

5) A cherished personal belonging.

One would think that it’d be his sword or his dagger, the sapphire on his eye…

But I feel like, even above all of that, he’d have a copy of that one special book he loved as a child, safely tucked away on his bedside table or his desk so only he can access it.

And also, because I’m one big sap, the very first gift that his beloved ever gave him. Maybe it was a ring, or a locket. But he keeps it with him at all times.

10) How they deal with pain.

Oh man, Aemond is always in pain.

His muscles strain after he trains and sometimes he overdoes it and he’s one big throbbing ball of pain for the entire week. He knows he has to take it easy and put some ice on his muscles, drink some tea. But he bears it because he has this mentally of pain being that which forges his strength (what a nerd)

He suffers from nerve pain from his eye. As soon as he starts to feel the pulsing on the left side of his face, he knows he needs to hurry to his quarters and just lay down. This kind of pains annoys him and angers him, because unlike the pain from the exercise, he never asked for this. Never sought it. It’s a burden imposed on him and the pain is a reminder. When those nagging thoughts start to bubble up in his mind, he knows he has to breathe, and go into a meditative state, otherwise he’ll just prolongue the pain and he’ll be in an even worse mood. He lays down on the bed, curled up in a ball with all the curtains blocking the light.

Emotional pain, he just doesn’t know how to deal with. He struggles with his words, doesn’t know how to voice his concerns or worries. So he writes. He writes all his thoughts away in a journal. Maybe the worst thoughts, he burns at the fireplace, as a symbol of getting rid of that weight from his mind.

12) How they sleep.

All curled up on his good side, blankets up to his ears all snug. He’s very still, he probably snores (?) idk why he just gives me those vibes LOL. Naked, except for very nice silk trousers for sleep. And when he’s cold, he just puts on a robe.

14) How they did in school

TIS I THE YOUNGER BROTHER WHO STUDIES HISTORY, AND PHILOSOPHY! TIS I! Agshshdjdkdkd this guy is the biggest nerd ever, he did brilliantly! We stan 😌

21) Their fondest childhood memory

That very specific moment — which was super brief — when the wind hit his face as he reached the highest point in the sky when he first rode Vaghar. That one second when he was on top of the world, when he felt the absolute king of the skies and the best dragon rider that ever lived. That rush of adrenaline and pure happiness, that sense of freedom. That ephemeral feeling, he’ll always treasure forever.

I am asking not just because i am going to be getting a bunch of pathfinder books for christmas but because i know enough about you as a mutual that i know im going to hear about the most deeply fucked up person imaginable. What is your pathfinder character like

giggling delightedly... ok listen he's maybe the worst guy ever but the issue here is that i love him. introducing you to faedren. he's a half-elf magus and he wields a bastard sword because i like the option of both dual/single-handed wielding but also because he's a bastard and i think it's funny. he's blonde. he walks up to you and smiles all charming but something about him is Wrong. and then he opens his mouth and he sounds like if you ran a frat boy through years of pretentious wellness retreats. he's a follower of calistria, goddess of lust, trickery, and revenge, and every other sentence out of him is about how in love he is with his goddess and how she's the most beautiful powerful perfect deity there is or how beautiful and perfect and healing bloody revenge can be. guy who sees you get pushed by somebody and comes over to put a hand on your shoulder, goes "hey, you don't have to take that. you are a strong, powerful person, and you didn't deserve that. don't let your heart sit with that hurt. you should Gut Them" and then waxes poetic about the wonderful catharsis of gory retribution and how it's all tied back to a goal-oriented mindset in the end. flirts with anyone possible. so insufferable that his party members literally wouldn't let him talk about himself for Weeks cause he's just so terrible to listen to. high charisma stat but he just fucking Sucks. and then you let him talk a little bit and it becomes clear that his "community" that he talks about taking him in when he was a baby is Definitely a cult. they're summoning demons to take revenge on people with the most power possible and it's absolutely a twist on calistria's Actual values cause her whole thing is Not to get caught up on unending revenge but faedren feels slighted and goes after it like a dog with a bone. hears a super powerful dhamphir say something negative about his goddess and has to be dragged away fuming by his party members going "growth mindset. i'm not strong enough to kill him horribly Yet." his whole terrible fuckboy schtick is cause he's learned that the only way he can access affection is through sex. he's for real in love with his goddess because she's the only thing that he believes really cares for him. he gets his chest rent apart and sees elysium (his heaven is full of hot women. go figure) and when he gets brought back his skin is Branded Back Together with the symbol of calistria and he's even WORSE about things after that (obsessed with having the symbol on him permanently). he gets close with the party members but doesn't know how to express that he cares about them. he's caught off guard because caring is never Easy and it always Hurts and the only affection he was ever shown as a child was conditional. he's got some fucked up views on pain and punishment because he was definitely abused as a kid. he attacks a dragon with a lightning spell imbued into his strike and does 200 damage in one hit and then whiffs every swing after that. he taught the little pumpkin leshy in their party to read. he might be getting turned into a vampire now. anyway all that to say that there is much happening with this guy and i love him very much. y'know. nice ass sorry about the mental illness king. intimidation stat crazy high and he's intimidated people into committing suicide twice. cornered an enemy on a cliff and made that bitch jump off. check out my faedren tag for more information 👍 :)

(+ quick derail to say that i love pathfinder. what a beautiful system... pathfinder is kind to you in so many ways. pathfinder loves you back. dnd laughs in your face and calls you a bitch but pathfinder kisses you gently on the forehead and gives you substantial bonuses on skills at lvl 1... what a world we could all be living in)

Writer's Block

Summary: Super short blurb of meeting a cute guy in the coffee shop. Inspired by my very own writer's block.

Writer’s block. It’s the worst. You stare at a pitch white screen and your fingers hover over the keys in anticipation to type. As soon as you think you’ve got it, you’ll type it out and suddenly, it doesn’t sound so great. You’ll hold down that god awful backspace button until you’re back at square one. Absolutely nothing. In frustration you slam your laptop shut, deciding to tackle the dragon another time. You cradle your coffee in your hands and look out the coffee shop window.

“I still don’t know how you drink that crap,” MJ interrupts your thoughts as she slides into the booth across from you.

You give her a weak smile, “It’s good crap.”

“We literally have the worst coffee,” she says as she takes a bite of her stale doughnut.

“I don’t think your boss would appreciate saying stuff like that to a loyal customer,” you respond.

“Oh, boo-hoo,” she exclaims. You giggle at your friend’s sarcasm.

You’ve gotten to know MJ over the summer pretty well. It was bound to happen since you came to her workplace every day and ordered coffee. She watched you tirelessly stare at your laptop as you grasp at straws for a good plotline. One day, she decided you needed a distraction and you’ve hit it off ever since. You learned that she goes to Midtown High, while you go to Forest Hills High across town.

As MJ talks about how she suspects the government is hiding something from us, there’s a chime, signaling someone has come through the door. It’s a boy, about your age it seems. He has curly chestnut brown that is tamed by some hair gel. He is stocky built with a boyish vibe to him. But that smile. It was so inviting. You believe an angel must’ve kissed him. He was the type of boy you would write about in your fanfictions.

“Who is that?” You ask before you could even think. MJ shifts in her seat so she could see who you were referring to.

“No way. It’s Peter Parker,” your friend calls out. Peter Parker. Sounds heavenly. It falls off the lips with ease. The sound of his name makes him perk up. Once he realizes it was MJ, he takes out his headphones and greets her.

“Hey, MJ! I didn’t know you worked today. Although it doesn’t look like you’re working.”

“Piss off. I’m on break.” He laughs. Wow. Even his laugh sounds like music. “I thought you had the Stark Internship today.” This makes snap out of fantasyland.

“No, that’s tomorrow,” he responds.

“Sorry, did you say Stark Internship?” You chime in, shyly. The two friends nod. “I’m going to be there tomorrow. I’m a new intern this year.”

“As many times as you sat in this booth, you never said anything about the Stark Internship,” MJ questions.

“Yeah, I know. I don’t like bringing it up. My mom insisted that I apply since I do so well in school. Turns out, I’m smarter than anyone thought I was.” You chuckle anxiously.

“That’s really cool. What’s your name?” Peter asks.

“Uh, Y/N L/N,” You stutter. Gosh, why do you have to be a nervous wreck.

“Jones! Back to work!” MJ’s boss hollers from the back room. She rolls her eyes in response.

“Duty calls,” MJ groans and shuffles her way back to work.

“Well, I’ll see you tomorrow, ‘uh, Y/N L/N,’” he jokes and goes to order his hot chocolate. You quickly open up your laptop to hide the red in your cheeks. Could he be the next Prince Charming? Something tells you he’s going to give you a story of a lifetime.

1) Yun Seong - soul calibur series : he is fun hes goofy hes energetic and a little cocky he does lots of kicks and splits he wears a crop top his only goal is protecting korea by getting a cursed sword then realized oh this is bad i will now go hang out with my two besties he is a 17 year old child soldier get him out of here. i dont have character analysis for him i just think he is gay and transgender and makes me very happy. he is not super beloved by the game devs so there is very little about him to learn about unfortunately. that doesnt stop me though. you think i wouldnt fall in love with a man who queerly lies on the ground and fans himself when he beats someone up? think again

2) Maya fey - Ace Attorney : she is fun shes goofy shes energetic she has an older sister she loves with everything she has. she summons ghosts she is always afraid of never living up to who she feels she needs to be she grows up too fast she makes a lawyer her best friend she gets framed for murder all the time and is dealing with intense trauma but never lets anyone see and laughs it off but she is only 15 she is only 15. she is 15 and saw her sisters dead body and was framed for her murder and had no time to process it. she immediately tried to act like this was not the worst possible thing. she is 15 and independent with no parents and only an abusive aunt and she is all alone save for phoenix. she doesnt let herself think too hard about it she cant. she has to keep going to she carves out a grin and claps her hands together and summons the ghost of her sister to possess her body. how awful must it be to be so close to her after death but always still just out of reach. she was just there, but you cant see her. she is 15.

3) Wyll Ravengard - Baldurs Gate 3 : hes fun hes silly hes disabled he represses all his negative feelings and rarely shows anger. he is full of kindness he is kind on purpose. he needs to have a purpose and to feel needed. he was only a 17 year old child manipulated into twisting his life and his father cast him out and he refuses to allow himself to be angry about it. because if it isnt something he can make himself forgive then what was it all for what was the reason why did his father throw him away why did he not need him or listen to his words. he does not let himself be wyll anymore because wyll is not someone important enough to love. but he is

4) Gotenks - Dragon Ball Z : hes.....fun hes goofy hes energetic........ literally is just two children merged together and amplifying all their cockiest parts and i love him. he is just a silly ten year old doing cool trick and trying to be a hero because that is what he thinks is cool and thats what he wants to be. two mild mannered children together making each other stronger and more arrogant and it is wonderful. hes kind of a little shit. he just wants to be like the adults in his life. he wants to be as strong as his fathers and prove himself to them. he likes to spin and punt people like a volleyball. hes silly. in fighterz his big attack is so cute especially if you have piccolo in your team he passes it to piccolo it is my favorite thing on the world.

6) Frankie Stein - Monster High : they have fun electricity things their limbs come off they are an inventor and 15 days old and autistic as hell but so excited and enthralled by the world and learning about it. they have a dog that is part dragon they dont know who they are yet but they are figuring it out but they know how to love and are full of wonder and just really really want to help people. they're the only monster like themselves, and have no community to turn to. at the same time, they arent any one person. they are made up of so many different people in their body and brain and they remember it all but only vaguely. 7) Russel Hobbs - Gorillaz : he is snarky hes the only one willing to punch murdoc he plays drums hes gnc hes possesed by a ghost that comes out when he plays the drums he is a father figure to noodle and is the only person caring about the Literal Child's safety and well-being. he became giant for a while and carried his essentially daughter around with him bc he was the only one willing to look for her. he literally always says the funniest shit hes everything to me. there is so little content about him bc jamie hewlett writes him away most of the time and i think i should be allowed to be violent for that. like ok i wonder why you keep not letting the fat black character have a turn. why do you think that is can you tell me can you elaborate on that.

8) Alistair Therin - Dragon Age: Origins : ok ok. hes fun. hes goofy. hes energetic. you get it. he didnt have a single adult who truly cared dor him growing up. he is lighthearted and has fun and cracks jokes but is willing to open up about his worries and be a person and is surprisingly well adjusted like hes been to therapy or smth. but then is he actually processing it or just saying it ? he is so convinced that he is worthless and forgettable to the point of putting himself in the background intentionally so you lead the team. he is scared and kind

9) Trucy Wright - Ace Attorney : she always has a smile but she so so rarely lets her real feelings peek through. she is the queen of repression she is so desperate to mever let anyone know she is really sad. she is just as snarky as her dad she is so silly and teasing. she is incredibly smart and intensely perceptive even though shes just a kid ! she puts on a personality of someone bright and energetic and carefree when in reality she is always haunted by knowing that her biological father abandoned her after using her to forge evidence and leading to her now father to lose the job he loved so dearly. she is so young but performs and earns the primary income for her and phoenix which is not something any kid should have to do. she carries the weight of feeling like she has ruined peoples lives so she puts on a smile and a show to try and make everyone feel a little better by putting on a smile and a show, which makes it all the more impactful in the moments when she briefly lets that mask drop.

10) Sera - Dragon Age Inquistion : she is a lesbian she is an archer so you know she has a chiseled back and strong ass arms. if she were real i would rubix cube my gender around and be a butch lesbian for her. she is so funny she is so autstic the game is so mean to her and assumes i dont understand her when she makes perfect sense to me and i love her so much. she does things as she thinks of them she cuts her hair by herself she doesnt make herself adhere to society and loudly and proudly stays herself even when others think its cruse and inappropriate. she has no self esteem and really truly is scared but she find purpose in having people to fight for. she is so lonely but passes it off with a grin. shes communist and kills rich people and makes fun of them. she stole a bunch of guards pants so she could laugh at them. shes the best character in inquistion hands down

Midzel: I do ship them, though they never really became my THING. So not a ship I've thought about a lot, but I DO know everyone who ships them is extremely right too. Also obviously two princesses from parallel worlds of light and dark who cannot be together is DELICIOUS.

volga/ghirahim: I've never played the original hyrule warriors so i dont know jack-shit about volga besides that he..... IS..... the dragon from OoT? But from the little I know about him and from what you've told me I think they'd absolutely hate each other. I cannot think of any conceivable reason they'd actually get together?? But it would be the worst relationship in the world. You're gonna have to, like, lock them in a box alone together and shake them. And then I think they'd come out hating each other even more.

ganghira: Ohhhhh baby. Being literally made as a weapon to be wielded and then meeting this guy who is.... a different man entirely from your master, but still have something of him inside of him. I love that. I"ll enjoy a cute ganghira fanwork. But I cannot see this being anywhere near healthy. But that doesn't mean I don't think they wouldn't work together in their fucked up way.

impa/zelda: Another sheet that isn't super full even though I think they'd be cute together. All the wholesome ships get pretty empty bingo sheets. I'll go with aoc zelda and impa for this one. They fucked up kind of Sheikah devotion to the crown isn't REALLY there in this game, but Impa would still clearly do anything to support her. Personally I like them together platonically or as qpps if anything.

sidlink: YEAH BABY SIDLINK BABY!!! dont let the empty sheet fool you, that shark is basically why i bought botw!!! and you know what, i still think they're adorable together. he's just big enthusiastic and supportive, how am i not supposed to love him. Link should have something in his life constantly hyping him up and supporting him. He's also irresistible to the royal zoras so. I mostly like them as just good, wholesome fun together.

Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan: A Brief Dragon Ball Z Analysis

Yo, it's me again. So I'm still on a break from my Drakengard analyses, which I haven't forgotten about! Those require a lot of research and time, so I'm keeping them on the back burner for now. But instead, I'm here with a pretty unexpected analysis. I've never talked about Dragon Ball Z on my blog before, so this'll be the first time. Today I wanted to talk about Broly from the original Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan movie. The reboot was a fantastic movie and they did a great job at making him more human. I may very well do another analysis on the new Broly one day.

I wanted to give my take on Broly's character from the original movie, since the movie itself doesn't even attempt to. Let me preface this by saying that this is just my opinion based on the character's backstory and behavior. I'm certain someone will disagree, which is fine. Do let me know your thoughts and let me know if I get something wrong. SPOILERS AHEAD: READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The Start of Broly and Paragus

So, let's talk about it. By now, everyone and their mother has already criticized Broly's original backstory, and for good reason! It's literally the worst backstory I've ever seen, so fans are right to dislike it. Lemme explain his backstory briefly: when Broly and Goku were born, Broly had an abnormally high power level of 10,000. King Vegeta felt ashamed that his power level exceeded that of his own son, so he sought to have Broly and Paragus (Broly's father) executed. I don't know why he would try to kill him and not just make use of him later on, but okay. So Paragus and Broly are attacked and left out to die. That also happened to be the same day that Frieza destroyed Planet Vegeta, and Broly managed to get them both to safety. Paragus wants revenge on Vegeta (understandably), but Broly wants revenge on Goku for disturbing him with his crying when they were newborns.

My take on this: All of that makes sense except for Broly's... strange fixation on Goku. This heavily implies that he had a high level of sentience as a newborn; to be able to acknowledge that another newborn is crying near him and remembers this newborn well into adulthood. As humans, we don't gain that level of self-awareness until age 4 or 5. We see this again when he saves himself and Paragus. Although I don't think he knows exactly what's happening, I believe he is aware that they are in danger, and he sorta goes into fight or flight mode. So by that logic, would he not remember that King Vegeta nearly stabbed him to death? He was able to recognize Goku's face and name as an adult, so would he not recognize that Vegeta looks exactly like his father? The more I think about it, the more it doesn't make sense. Anyways though, let's move on.

The Life of Broly and Paragus

It goes without saying that Broly and Paragus' lives have never been easy. Broly has always had this unfathomable amount of power inside of him that he can't control. He's a loose cannon, to put it mildly. And this overwhelms Paragus. Rather than Paragus training him to hone this power, he chooses to use a mind control device as a quick means of "calming" Broly when his temper gets out of line. What lesson does this teach Broly? It teaches him that his anger is unacceptable; that his emotions are wrong. And it also forces Broly to be completely dependent on Paragus, stunting his maturation and effectively making him a man-child. Even though Broly is the same age as Goku (mid to late 30's is my guess), he never leaves his father's side for very long and only speaks when spoken to. This is such an abusive parent-child relationship.

Even when Broly is first introduced, he appears docile and unassuming. When he speaks, his voice is devoid of any emotion, with a lack of emotional facial expressions to boot. He's been forced to suppress his emotions for years because he will be punished for doing so. No doubt that this may have caused some deep-seated resentment. But alas, his strange hatred for Goku made him snap. The device broke and there was nothing to hold back his rage. What happens when a child who has been raised by a controlling parent gains freedom? They lose control. He lost control. It is the first time in his life that he actually has autonomy. The dam had been broken, and all of his pent-up rage and emotions came flooding out, and nobody could stop it. Paragus' lack of trust and fear of his own son brought about the very fate that he had hoped to avoid. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and boy did it.

Aside from completely wrecking the shit of our main heroes, he also finds and kills Paragus as he attempts to flee; he crushes him inside the space pod and hurls it toward the nearest planet. I believe that deep down, Broly developed feelings of hatred and resentment towards Paragus for all the years of abuse he suffered. And when he snaps, it's like "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." The seemingly harmless Broly is no more, but is instead replaced by a savage, ruthless and cold-hearted killer. Or in other words, evil. It's for the best that he was put down by Goku. Who knows how much more destruction he would've caused had he still been alive? Let's not forget that he decimated an entire galaxy at the very start of the movie.

Now, I sympathize with both Paragus and Broly at times. I understand that they both had incredibly difficult lives. Between being wrongfully mistreated by King Vegeta, left out to die after almost being killed, losing his entire home planet in a matter of minutes, and having to raise a son whose power level is beyond the scale of anything that he's ever dealt with, it makes sense that he would turn out this way. And then here we have Broly, a person that was raised by a toxic, controlling parent who never let him express his emotions or act independently. Their story is one of tragedy. It doesn't justify either of their actions. It's just an explanation. I could talk more about how Saiyans are raised in families devoid of love and affection, but that's another analysis for another time. But hey, that's just my two cents.

somehow, this pseudo legendary dragon was released completely unplayable at the beginning and now it is unplayable now. they will never stop powercreeping over this pokemon as long as fairies continue to exist even though it can +1 all.

i feel bad for the little dragon covered in bulletproof armor; they have 3 different abilities that can stop particular attacks, but none of the attacks that 2 of the abilities matter too much so only overcoat is the real ability.

then the stats are pretty mid. they made the dragon's main attack be a special attack, but put the attack stat higher than the special attack. the strongest thing that can be done is using the move boomburst with tera normal to raise its damage, but this dragon was designed counterintuitively to that as well. they did not even give it more speed (likely because that would be aesthetically contradicting), but did not make it slow enough for a trick room team. also, the main move that gives plus 1 to all stats seems great, but the boost is definitely not worth the damage. in a meta where belly drum +6 an important stat, this should have been plus 2 to every stat instead. heck, falinks did not hurt itself when it gained plus 1 in every stat. instead, it just had the light restriction of no switching, literally preventing the player from making the stupid decision of immediately switching out after a huge buff.

now for the elephant in the room, the typing. this is one of the worst typings ever, which forces the player to play a tera type mostly defensively (more importantly with FORCING the player). pokemon that are forced to tera waste the versatility of a team, so they simply would not be played. in comparison, hydreigon, which was also powercrept by fairy type's existence, was an incredible pokemon at launch and still saw play due to the stats behind the pokemon that enabled it to be a heavy hitter. however, there is a huge issue in the type of fighting since there are so many flying types in competitive pokemon right now in terms of attacks. tornadus, landorus with tera blast, other pokemon with tera flying tera blast, this list goes on and just continues to justify the need to tera. again, this could all be mitigated by having stats that are either super specialized like high enough spatk and speed or massive defenses with little speed, but this pokemon is simply a journeyman of all trades, no mastery in anything

how would i fix this pokemon? the most drastic thing could be to turn clangorous soul into a protect move on top of the other effects. that would be pretty busted with throat spray. another strategy would be to remove the damage from the clangorous soul move. honestly, clangorous soul should probably have been just no retreat before no retreat existed. it sounds like a move that reflects the pride of the pokemon and should stop the pokemon from leaving. this would help the pokemon tank an attack, especially from moves that target both pokemon, as well as make clangorous soul a move that could only be used once. in terms of drastic strategies that are outside of the move changes, there could be a new regional variant that has a different type and different stats.

i have played competitive pokemon since 2010, and I have seen all the other pseudo legendaries see play. dragonite saw play recently as a pokemon that would hit hard alongside other power pokemon like chien pao. tyranitar has always been playable as a sandstream pokemon with several different movesets and playstyles. salamence was once one of the greatest pokemon ever being either special or physical as well as being a tailwind setter (I remember when people ran hydro pump on this). metagross was one of the greatest bulky pokemon with heavy hitting moves, usually supported by other pokemon like cresselia. garchomp was an absurdly good offensive pokemon with high attack that could also take hits. hydreigon was explained earlier as a strong offensive pokemon. i played goodra in a team that I took from a german player in 2013 and got 3rd at nationals; the abilities that it has along with its simply typing helped a lot. heck, the hisuian form is seeing play right now. although I did not play sword and shield format, dragapult was played in scarlet and violet formats as a hard hitter since it is faster than some of the fastest pokemon base speed wise (though I do have some hang ups with this pokemon like why it cannot use a single high damage, physical ghost type move other than phantom force). and baxcalibur was one of the top pokemon used in the ladder for scarlet and violet. incredibly, this is one of the pokemon that cannot stand up on its own as a good pseudo legendary.

i guess my rant is over from a pokemon vgc boomer who wishes that every pokemon was playable instead of the continued increase in pokemon that are simply objectively better than others.

tl:dr kommo-o is bad because of its type and its stats, which is surprising since it is in the lineage of pseudo legendary pokemon, all of which were playable.

shit it fucking won a regional. when i played against it, it was trash, but ig everyone on the west coast did not play around it properly

Oh boy I'm probably gonna have fun with these

So some time after Crystalized but before DR, Oliver decided to start training to become an actual ninja. By the time DR comes around, he's still in training but is more experienced than Arin or Sora so I could see him trying to help them out when they're struggling

As a side note: Oliver doesn't know how to use spinjitzu. He's tried multiple times but just can't figure it out. The other ninja would tease him about it because they've seen him use spinjitzu before when he was the Golden Master but now, for some reason he can't do it

Maybe Oliver gets a little jealous of Arin for being able to teach himself spinjitzu but he never really shows it

Speaking of Arin, I like to think that he made a pie for Oliver as an apology for freaking out when they first met. Oliver immediately forgives Arin and tells him that he's his new favorite person

Also I think it would be fun if Arin decided to teach Oliver how to bake only to find out that Oliver might possibly be the worst chef/baker in the world. He tried to make a pie and it came out as a puddle of goop. Oliver still enjoyed it though

Sometimes Oliver will just say the craziest things about stuff that happened in the past and the others, mainly Sora, would just be super confused

He'll say stuff like "I've literally fought God before. He beat me, but now I'm best friends with his grandson, so who's the real loser?" and Sora will give him the most confused face ever and Oliver realizes, "Oh yeah, that's not a normal thing for most people..."

I think Oliver would enjoy watching Sora work on her mechs because it would remind him of when he was little and he'd watch Nya working on mechs and other vehicles

I like the idea of Oliver and Wyldfyre talking about dragons and then Oliver casually mentions the fact that he can turn into a dragon which makes Wyldfyre freak out and want to see him turn into a dragon because that sounds super cool. But then Oliver has to explain that he can't really do it on command and Wyldfyre gets disappointed

While looking around the monastery, either one of the ninja or maybe Arin or Sora end up finding Tofu who's a little worn out at this point and when Oliver sees him he immediately gets emotional and starts hugging him. Zane would offer to clean him and Oliver would go into overprotective mode for a little bit until they finally convince him to let them wash the dang stuffed animal

Also should have mentioned this part sooner, but as of now I've been thinking about having the others find Oliver in the Underworld, though this might change when part 2 comes out. When they find him, Oliver is basically living his best life among the skulkin because they aren't really afraid of him and they don't know that he was the Crystal King so that doesn't affect their opinion on him. Though part of him wanted to stay there, he does go with the ninja and ends up happier being reunited with his family

So yeah those are just ideas that have been lingering in my head. Hopefully when part 2 comes out I can do a lot more stuff with this au, but it's been fun thinking about these fun little interactions and stuff

Jimmy expected to see literally anyone else when his doorbell rang in the middle of the night. Since when was it working again? If it were Scott, or Major as he was known as a hero he'd just walk in. He knew the lock broke ages ago and refused to be fixed. In all honesty, not many other people knew where the not-quite-villain, not-quite hero lived so he was shocked to see a sheepish Tinkerer as the minor villain was known as, standing there with a grocery store bag and failing to lean casually on a suitcase. He honestly recognised him only by his signature leather jacket. He never saw his face, and the thick-rimmed, rectangular glasses really threw him for even more of a loop. And he was pretty sure Tinkerer didn't use to have dragon horns and wings...

"Sorry for the sudden visit but... can I stay the night?" the villain asked. He did not sound fine. "Please?" that addition sounded a bit less forced than Jimmy would have expected it to be.

"Sure," Jimmy almost shrugged. He was not about to kick him out. He was not quite as mean as some other villains. Not super nice but not super terrible. Somewhere in between. At least since him stealing Jimmy's mask gave his identity out to Major. Who, shockingly, used it to try and convince him to quit trying to meddle in the hero business. Be it positively or not. "I have only one bed but..."

"Sofa's fine," Tinkerer stopped him. "fWhip... by the way..."

Jimmy blinked for a second before he realised Tinkerer just introduced himself. With his actual name... "Jimmy, but you probably know that since you found this place... And don't even think about sleeping on the sofa, it's uncomfortable even without wings. Umm...Why me actually? Doesn't your group have like a million safe houses around the city? I just don't want heroes randomly breaking my walls..." he could not help but ask as fWhip set his baggage in an empty corner next to the broken TV. He kept his wings really close to himself to not knock anything over. Jimmy was thankful for that. Everything he surrounded himself seemed to instantly half its durability.

"No, nothing to do with heroes," fWhip sighed. "I got kicked out... from my own villain group... that I started..." he admitted, curling up on Jimmy's small and possibly broken in several places couch. I couldn't really go to any of our safe houses since they were quite angry with me... I had no idea where else to go..."

"Aren't you worried about me causing stuff and all that?" Jimmy sighed. He wasn't sure if he wanted to know why fWhip's group was angry with him. It could not be good.

"Not at all. I did an extensive study and fully understand what causes it to act. Sorry if it's weird..." he seemed to cheer up with that but his mood instantly fell right back down.

Jimmy was not sure how to feel. It was sort of flattering that fWhip spend his time... "Where did you even get any information on that?"

"It wasn't easy, but lucky for me all your worst outbursts took place during big events with heavy news coverage. And I was right there a few times," fWhip grinned fixing his glasses.

"Okay... I hope you plan to share all that knowledge," Jimmy chuckled. fWhip was surprisingly cute... He should not be... He was pretty sure he had a crush on Scott (and Major but that...yeah...).

"Of course. You're letting me stay here and all," he nodded. "And it's quite fascinating. It's fully dependent on your emotions. If you're angry, sad, or anxious disasters happen," he explained with a sparkle in his eye. Jimmy could only nod as fWhip descended into a ramble. "It's kind of like canaries, back in the olden days, miners would bring a bird along and if it stopped singing it meant it died due to dangerous gases, I noticed you tend to get silent when upset and then boom, disaster," he finished and grinned, brandishing sharp teeth.

"Okay... Where did the wings and teeth come from?" Jimmy decided he's heard enough about himself. It was starting to freak him out how much fWhip knew. Even if it could be useful.

"Oh... part of why I was kicked out actually," fWhip curled up a bit once more. "When all these sprouted, Mythic and Moon decided that we should turn to bigger villainy than being mere nuisances for heroes since I finally had some superpowers... As if I wasn't good enough with just my tech. I was not interested in actually hurting anyone directly so I said not, stomped my feet even, and they decided I was not serious enough," he huffed shifting and wiggling to get comfy with the wings. "I'll only bother you until I find a place for myself..."

"Won't the wings make it hard? To find a place I mean... But... where did the glasses come from? You look like a nerd and I'm saying it..."

"I don't know anyone with wings," fWhip sighed. "And I always needed glasses. Have you never wondered why I always leave if my goggles get damaged? They're much easier to fight in," fWhip explained, once again fixing his glasses. It was seriously adorable.

When his 'friends' weren't around fWhip wasn't so bad. Since neither of them wanted to sleep, both were too awake with the night's events. They chatted and had some snacks Jimmy had in his kitchen and some of the ones fWhip brought in his bag as a peace offering. Apparently, fWhip was planning to figure out his wings by watching early news coverage about Major. 'He's literally the only winged person I'm at least somewhat familiar with. Unfortunately, he's too important to deal with minor villains like me too often so I don't have much up close reference,' he said with that sparkle Jimmy called curiosity. fWhip was hiding quite the brain behind all his seemingly unhinged devices and other often exploding inventions.

Eventually, they were tired enough to sleep and too tired to argue about who would sleep on the couch and who in Jimmy's small bed. Somehow they both ended up in bed. It was nice for Jimmy since fWhip seemed to radiate pleasant levels of warmth. He guessed it would be worse if he got angry. It was very much a guess as he was barely awake when he made it.

Jimmy woke up being very much cuddled by someone very warm... and poked by horns. Stiffing a groan he looked down to be met with a mess of auburn hair broken up by two dark red horns. He let out a sigh of relief remembering how fWhip got into his apartment and bed... He felt weirdly calm to have him here and all close and... fWhip was quite capable in a fight, powers or no powers. Certainly more than Jimmy. This had nothing to do with him thinking he was cute. No. Not at all. He still had a major crush on Major... Hahaha, Major...

"I can almost hear you think," fWhip muttered cuddling closer to Jimmy. He took the lack of protests and pushing away as an okay to carry on. Sausage and Pearl... Gem even back in the day, were not big on the cuddles.

"Sorry? Did you sleep well? I think I can put some sort of breakfast together," Jimmy offered, not quite sure what he had in his kitchen. He should have stuff for pancakes. No promises about any toppings.

"Just a few more minutes... It's been ages since I stayed with someone who's fine with cuddles..." fWhip muttered burying his face further into Jimmy. He guessed the second part was not meant for him to hear.

"Okay, okay, just let me grab my phone," Jimmy yawned, his brain was busy stopping him from chuckling at how cuddly fWhip was. And his phone was making a lot of noise for a while now.

As it turns out, Scott was not going to be coming over. As he often did, likely on Lizzie, Jimmy's sister's, insistence since she knew he knew where Jimmy was hiding from her overprotective tendencies. And her title of mayor. Being a walking disaster was bad enough without being recognised as her brother...
