I'm such a sucker for playlists, I'm already currently making my way through the ones you linked. I absolutely L O V E the upbeat art playlist, it screams of Gewis podiums and happiness and success and love and attraction, y e s! Britcedes supremacy & good vibes. Good stuff. 🎉

IWLYN, that's the kind of thing that almost makes me chocke up a little. Sad and hopeful, raw, romantic but also angsty.

Actually, let me go into a bit of detail real quick - Fools is such a Lewis POV song, right. I've seen that one in a lot of playlists before and it fits and it hurts everytime.

Such good friends, it has to end, it always does. That's the way life is.

Do we take that risk?

And so it all boils down to this. We've got our aim, but we might miss. We are too fragile just to guess.

There's want, but there's also fear and apprehension. It's about the damage of past experiences fighting against the hopefulness for a good outcome...

Wonder came on directly afterwards and, for my money, that's such a George POV song, isn't it. There's a different kind of vulnerability here, one that really feels younger. This one doesn't speak of past hurt that has left some lasting effects but it does speak of insecurity. Hesitancy and self doubt clashing with admiration and so much longing, sooo much longing. And persistance.

You're completely off limits, for more reasons than just one. But I can't stop. You're the centre of attention, you control the atmosphere. You're so busy being busy, I don't want to interfere. But I can't stop.

(Song rec-ish, what are your thoughts on Little Did I Know by Julia Michaels/Willow by TS? Two of my Top 10 Gewis songs and I can't help but think that they fit the vibe of the IWLYN playlist very well)

I have yet to listen to the RB AU playlist, but I've already seen that Do I Wanna Know is on it - of course it is. So on brand. I also feel like you've hit the spot with I Don't Know Why. Because yes, that's the vibe of this story. And Bleeding Out? COME ON. Feels! So many feels!

Don't worry, I'm not going to write an entire thesis on every single one of your song choices and the different interpretations and scenarios that pop into my head when considering them. But. I COULD. They're such good choices.

I love your analysis of fools and wonder. Those songs and sick of loosing soulmates are my go to angsty otp songs, because they’re so… tentative. They’re about longing and TRYING for more. And that’s kind of what George and Lewis are for each other and for racing. It’s about trying in the face of uncertainty. I used to listen to them on repeat as I read fanfic, just over and over.

I think you’ll like run for cover, it’s mostly songs about antagonising each other, pushing boundaries but still being drawn back together. But there’s also some that are just about the cost of perfection; those are about how George feels like working for redbull is like having a knife held to his throat, constantly on the edge of falling. Lewis is all about playing with fire, red bull is the stinging burn.

I very much like your song recs and they have now both been added. Kimy will be delighted I’ve finally added a Taylor song lol. I’m not very musically educated, I get most of my songs from either the radio (I listen to 80’s radio with my dad a lot), exercise playlists, or YouTubers using it for montage music or animated music videos. And tiktok, a lot comes from tiktok. Sue me. The rest will be my dads influence. He likes Coldplay, muse, imagine dragons, arctic monkeys, and therefore, so do I lmao.

I’d say I actually listen to purely music while I write MORE than when I draw. I can watch anything while I draw, I spend a lot of time watching the Simpsons or family guy on marathon while I draw because it’s a very brain off kind of activity. Part of the little cocktail of Autism and Adhd in my brain means I find it hard to do ONE thing at a time, or my brain gets too loud. Because art is a physical thing, I can watch tv while I work. When I write it needs more brain power so I find it harder to have TV on. I used to have to write in complete silence and I *hated* it. I also find a good music playlist now keeps me on track for the mood I wanted, which in AIWLYN and Run for Cover is really important. Otherwise I just use the good vibes list hahaha

This ask is not out of proportion, and don’t you dare leave me alone, trust me this is the exact kinda shit that gets people like me clapping excitedly. But I literally have it all mapped out in my head. All 30 songs. But anyways this is the worthwhile fight I guess would be his stance for my queen if I’m making it for my ship)

My play (basically the perfect scenario, but we all know nothing ever goes to plan in the real world), lean on me, someday, red (see note about this being a canon ship break up album and my ship is absolutely not a red ship cause to me those do not last. I say as I have a red otp), drivers license (okay this does not apply to them at all, but we can roll with it in the way that we’re tying in the crash my car song. Get away (okay I can’t. This has always been a kaishi song to me and I kinda still really wanna write this fic for them one day… but I guess we can roll with this as just the title, cause the lyrics are definitely more geared towards kaishi for me)

Treacherous (okay I know I said no red songs cause breakup album but… this to me has (still is) always been the most CoAi song Tay ever wrote so… yeah)

In conclusion, this would literally be every fic I’ve ever written so yeah. Totally doable

Explain the meaning of your favorite line of dialogue you've written as if someone hasn't read it in context. “He doesn’t know,” Katsuki says, softly. “My timer stopped and nothing happened. He’s not mine.”

the line is from what we deserve!! it's a soulmate au where your timer counts down to the moment that you meet your soulmate!! bakugou's timer ends at USJ when he and kirishima attack kurogiri at the same time (impulsive kings <33) but kirishima's timer doesn't end until kamino because that's when he accepts himself as bakugous soulmate!! unfortunately, when bakugous timer has reached 0, he turned to see that kirishima's was still ticking and therefore believes that kirishima isn't his soulmate.

this line just,, idk. it's really sad. bakugou is such an action-driven character? if something doesn't go his way he Makes it go his way. he's got this insanely volatile quirk and he's got impeccable control of it!! but his love for kirishima isn't something that he can change and he's not going to ruin kirishima's chance of finding his own soulmate because he loves him and wants him to be happy. i really wanted to focus on how resigned he is? and how unusual that is for a character like him.

Other writing habits? sometimes i'll write in the dark?? bad for my eyes but for some reason it gets the words flowing

CONCEPTUALIZATION

How do you conceptualize your ideas? (See specific moments like they're a movie, writing specific lines in your head, don't know until you put the words on paper, etc.) i tend to get inspiration from movies, books, poems, or other fics!!! sometimes one line just makes me go oh,, i want to write something like that,,, and then it helps me create an idea that makes me feel the same way?? i did this with control fraek!!!! i wanted a scenario where bakugou was cold and calculating and i was like hm. to do that he’d have to be focusing on something important. and from there i was able to flesh out the rest of the idea.

Which comes first: the pairing or the plot? with krbk its always always the pairing,, i'll be sitting there like wow <33 i love them <33 what if one of them had amnesia <33 (which, yes, wip!!) otherwise it's usually the plot!! and i slot in characters that i feel make sense

Have you ever used a prompt? yeah!! used a prompt for wlw week 2020 and it was fun as hell

Do you write around the story around a specific scene you want to get to or do you start from a plot idea definitely the first!!!! i almost always write like,,, a super messy scene thats 90% dialogue, keep it in my head, and then write the entire fic around that one moment

Do you find that you include a projection of some part of yourself in the way you write a character? a lot of the time when i write love confessions or love in general i'll have one of the characters think or say that the other person makes their head quiet? and it's because that's what i feel whenever i'm in love?? a quiet mind. i project on characters yeah but i think most of the projection actually goes to the way that i write love

Do you research some of the things you write deeply, partially and kind of wing the rest, or play entirely by ear (in this case, go with whatever base knowledge of the subject you have)? most of the time if i do research it'll be about the setting (ex. the izakaya in to have and to hold) or if i'm having the characters interact with an object that they like. need to know how to use (me, in control fraek: google. hey google. does someone die if they get shot in the foot??? no???? awesome thank u <3)

Have you ever had an idea for a story and forgot about it? lmaoo yeah all the time i'll find like 500-2k words of concepts in my gdocs like i do. not remember this at all

Is there a trope you think you could be easily recognized by in your writing? probably krbk secret relationship lmao

Are there concepts you've tried that turned out better than expected? yeah!! i fully thought the action in control fraek would be awful but it turned out not bad??? which im happy with

Are there concepts you've tried that turned out worse than you expected? again, what we deserve, i personally think it would have worked out better if i'd paced it slower and drawn out the pining but i. do not feel like going back to fix it so its staying the way that it is. pining is so fucking hard to do AHHHH i get so tired with it!!! im like just date already!!!!

PROCESS

How do you come up with titles? in rare occasions (literally. all my multichaps for some reason) the title comes after writing like .5 words of the first chapter im like YES this is it!!!!! sometimes i write the whole thing and pick out one line that fits (what i did with come home to me) a lot of the time i just. steal from songs or poems that i like

What's your favorite emotion to cause on your readers? i like making people happy!!!! love when people comment saying they're cheered up

What's your favorite emotion to write? lovelovelovelovelovelove

Have you ever cried or felt any emotion while reading something you've written? never cried?? but sometimes i'll rereading my hurt/comfort fics 4. yk. comfort

Do you write in order or whatever comes to you? in order!! unless i have a scene that i Need to write and i'll quickly jot it down so that i don't forget

Usual way you procrastinate while writing? ...doing asks like this, making playlists, discord, watching netflix. what don't i do smh

Do you outline or free write? i am. so shit at outlines. i mostly free write and write lil notes for stuff that i wanna add later

Do you set word goals or scene goals (scenes you want to include)? yes!! like i said i'll write loose notes for scenes that i want to add later!! it gives me something to write towards :D

What do you consider when writing your scenes? what goes into making the atmosphere and mood you want? to set a scene i do two things? the first is like,, the five senses bc that always sets the scene really well and makes it feel Real. i'll visualize stuff in my head like its a movie and write out what i would want to tell the set designer?? if the lights are low, if the space is busy, if it's supposed to exude comfort or not.

for putting forward the character's mood one thing i've found that makes a difference is sentence length!! long sentences are good for making a character seem flustered and nervous or not really in control of their emotions? good for love confessions. short sentences are good for when the character is focused on something or short on time. good for fights!!

What's something you never considered to include in your writing that you can't leave out now? def buff hagakure,,,, once i thought of it i was like. if i don't include this at least once in every single fic how could i look at myself in the mirror!!!!!! how could i face anyone!!!!

How do you start a story? establishing a fact about the character or describing the setting! option a is one single thread of gold, option b is between lion and men

How do you end a story? either by tying it back to the beginning or doing like a funny kind of closing??? option a is sugar cookies, option b is a godless society

How do you get out of writer's block? change something!! move something!! i go from typing to handwriting, moving from my bedroom to my living room, switching wips to work on something else!! i do sprints as well?? give myself like fifteen minutes to write something and sometimes 200 words opens up the way for another 2k. sometimes i'll just delete like 500 words and start fresh

Do you edit? or do you toss your writing out there? i edit!!! i'll go over it myself then send it to one or two betas (bee my beloved <33)

How do you edit? do you use spellcheck, grammar checkers, etc? bee is my grammar checker bc he is So Good with grammar. i use grammarly as well for spellcheck stuff mostly?? sometimes my edit process is just like "am i tired of looking at this!! yes <3" and then i post it

Do you usually like what you write? yeah!!! i post stuff that makes me happy and that i'm fine with rereading!!! i write stuff for self-indulgence reasons first and foremost and i think my writing reflects that sjhnksj

Have you ever written something you didn't like but posted anyways? nope!! even what we deserve i LIKED even if i see a lot of room 4 improvement!! if i don't like smth it's not getting posted

Do you find yourself rereading your writing often? yeah!! the reason i wrote so much krbk secret relationship is because i loved it but i'd read all that there was so i just,, wrote more,, ngl its kinda nice being in a place where i actually like my writing bc i can write stuff that i want to see and really enjoy it!!

Can you tell us anything about your current WIP? sure!! i'm currently working on when it rains which is a fic where bakugou gets hit by a crying quirk!! i'm gonna be using it to explore So Much of all might's character and his relationships with bakugou and aizawa (and i think some people from his past!!)

Can you give us a sneak peek on your current WIP? “You did something. What the hell did you do?” Kirishima sounds pissed off. It would amuse Katsuki if he wasn’t fighting just to stay standing.

“Nothing he didn’t ask for,” Shinsou replies.

“K’ri… shima,” Katsuki croaks out. “‘S fine. Not him.”

His chest collapses back into the familiar dry heaving after that but Kirishima shuts up. He doesn’t apologize to Shinsou.

Kirishima’s a good friend, stubborn and loyal. He stands by Katsuki’s side like an attack dog, blocking him from the view of anyone ogling at his tears.

The last line you've written Ochako knows more than she'd realized. She knows enough to keep her guard up.

What's your favorite thing about writing? touched on this before but it's mainly just being able to write the things that i want to see and actually enjoy them!!! actually reread them!!!! i thought "wouldn't it be cool if bkg and kirishima owned a restaurant together" and then i wrote it and i like it enough to reread it!!!! being able to create content for myself makes me. so happy

How do you keep yourself inspired? this is gonna sound narcissistic maybe but honestly i'm just really excited about my ideas and where i'm gonna take them and the idea of "i'm gonna get to That scene" keeps me going through the entire thing. also my friends!!!! i'll talk to them about fics and their reactions keep me hyped up enough to finish!!!!

What is your favorite thing to write? just,, slice of life romance,,, stuff thats silly and makes people laugh!!

What do you think your strengths are in writing? i'm good with dialogue!! i do lil voice acting sessions with myself to make sure everything sounds natural and like it's coming from that character skhjnskj

What are things you wish you could practice more? on one hand i wanna get better at writing angst on the other hand i dislike writing angst. do you see my issue

One way you've improved your writing since you began? characterization!! i think i've gotten better at writing characters that are all Different and bring different things to the table!!! i used to project a lot more and it would compromise the characterization because the character was like 70% me and 30% them? not to say that projection is bad but if you do it too much it just,, doesn't read like the character and from a reader's standpoint the narrative can become less compelling

One aspect of writing you're still working on? writing action!!! i. literally hate writing it but i write for a fandom about superheroes so. Unfortunately i gotta learn.

A piece of writing advice you've learned while writing saw this on another tumblr post but they said sometimes if you're struggling with a scene, the problem is five lines back. i've found that to be true!!!! sometimes u gotta delete a chunk and start a little ways back!! i did this with too busy being yours because i was stuck for Weeks and i deleted like 25% of what i had but it helped me actually finish it :D

A bit of writing advice you can't stand when people shit on show don't tell for being overrated lmao bc when u read their writing you can Tell

Something you wish you knew when you first started writing? ,,,,honestly i kind of wish i could know some of the stuff that i used to when i first started writing?? technically i'm better now but creatively i was must better when i wasn't stressing about whether anyone would like what i was writing. so i guess i wish i knew that i should keep that confidence? i kinda wish that i wasn't as insecure about other people's writing styles because i never used to be!!

Something you've learned in life that you apply in writing there's no point in feeling inferior?? writing one genre isn't better than the other. being in one fandom isn't better than being in another. the kind of language you use or the length of your paragraphs- none of that stuff like. matters. what matters is that you're having fun and happy with what you're creating!!!! enjoy other peoples writing but don't let it make you feel worse about yours :D

ash you’re really about to make me go absolutely INSANE and i’ve gotta put this under a cut because i wrote so much

for sam:

favorite thing about him: oh my god. oh my god okay. sam has gone through some of the worst trauma imaginable. he's gone through some pretty intense abuse for years and years, and he has every right to be angry and vengeful and mad at the world for what it did to him. but for the most part, he isn't. he's kind, empathetic, patient, and wants to help other people. he still has hope that he can be a good person, and despite the mistakes he's made, he is a good person. i just think it's amazing and inspiring, and it gives me hope that i can be a good person despite my past as well.

least favorite thing about him: the only thing i can say is that seeing sam use lester as bait to talk to a crossroads demon about where crowley and dean were really just. left a bad taste in my mouth? sure its not the worst thing either of the boys have done, and sure sam didn't mean for lester to actually strike a deal, but it just felt too reckless ):

favorite line: its a tie between "i could never go on a quest like that, because i’m not... clean" and "hope is kind of the whole point.”

brOTP: brotp would be sam and dean, emphasis on the bro because i absolutely do not fuck w w/nc/st.

favorite thing about him: the parallels between sam and jack are astronomical and i really am just going to say the same thing about jack. he's gone through so much despite only being a few years old, and again he has every reason to be evil and vengeful and fucked up, but he's just a scared little kid. he still needs guidance and comfort and love, and despite knowing that he's the son of lucifer he still wants to be good.

least favorite thing about them: i know that a surprising amount of people don't like jack but i empathise and relate to him too much to really hate on him? it's the same with sam, but i can at least criticise sam because he's a little dumb. favorite line: "I guess my point is that if I don't make it... The stuff I'd miss - it wouldn't be things like tahiti. or the taj mahal. i'd miss more time with you. i'm getting that life isn't all these big amazing moments. it's time together that matters."

brOTP: sam and jack have such a wonderful father/son relationship... dude.

OTP: i don't ship jack with anyone because he's like three years old, even if he's physically an adult.

nOTP: listen man, i've heard of dean/jack and sam/jack and it makes me so angry and physically nauseous and i have both of them blacklisted. if i ever see someone shipping those, i'm gonna kick them in the teeth.

Its like 470k slowburn goodness with an in progress sequel SO, I’ve been reading it in spurts haha. Ngl pretty sure their fic is why I uh, feel a bit more confident in writing and am writing a bit deeper? Yeah lol.

Watching: Due to adhd reasons I have trouble watching like, anything. However, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is really good and takes place in 1920s Australia. Also: Father Brown is another fun series I’ve been slowly consuming. I’m a big fan of murder mysteries lol.

The Terms of Writing Fanfics, Reading Stories and Watching Movies… According to a Lazy Teenager.

Fellow Humans and non-Humans from Fandoms Near and Far,… I welcome you to read a document I basically just made. This is:…

“The Terms of Writing Fanfics, Reading Stories and Watching Movies… According to a Lazy Teenager.”

Firstly, I would like to address The Different Types of Ships…

Now, this isn’t about how different relationships interact, that will be discussed later in The Hogwarts Guide to Relationships. This is discussing what happens to the ships.

Firstly, we have a sailing ship – obviously, this means a ship that is canon. Examples: literally everywhere mate. Most ships are sailing ships. (This is the un-original term).

The Sunk Ship (The other un-original term). A ship that doesn’t work out. They move on. The ship starts to sink, and they get on little dinghiess and sail to shore for a bit, before preparing to start sailing again. Sometimes the ruins of these ships are found and excavated (they become friends), sometimes they can even sail again (They get back together).

Then we have our Battle Ships. This is the canon ship that is a constant battle with non-canon ships, I like to call Pirate ships. These are the two ships we get major shipping wars with. Fans are fighting all day and all night to prove their ship is superior. It’s nasty stuff man. Examples of these kinda ships are Romione (Ron x Hermione) vs Dramione (Draco x Hermione) or Kataang (Katara x Aang) vs Zutara (Zuko x Katara.) There is nothing wrong with the pirate ship, it’s just not canon, and that’s fine.

Also, who else is back on the Avatar train because Netflix is releasing a live-action.

Next, we have the ghost ship: both characters have or will die during or before the story. Permission to cry about these kinda ships – granted. Examples include Jyn and Cassian, from Rouge One.

Now we come to the greatest and most painful ships of all. The Titanic. These are the ships with heartbreak. These are the ships where the characters love each other, but one has to leave. The ships where they just don’t work, but they still love each other. And these are the ships, where one character dies, and the other is left broken. They never move on. Or should I say, their heart will go on? Obviously, an example of this is Titanic, but other examples are The Hunch Back of Notre Dame but not the Disney version, the Victor Hugo one where Esmeralda hangs. And Captain America, the first one, where he dies and wakes up like 70 years later.

Secondly, The Worthy Death…

Okay, so we have all cried watching a character die before. It’s just hard man. But have you ever watched a show where a really cool, strong character that’s gonna save the day, just chokes on a cashew and dies? No, you probably haven’t, why? Because it's dumb. But, have you watched a movie where they ride into battle on their white stallion and save the day, but they end up dying after they have won the battle? Yes, most probably. Because they are worthy of a good death. Maybe, they have been living in boundaries and they finally break free. Or the figure out how to win and then die in the arms of their first love, (I’m still in mourning over the second last episode of Teen Wolf season 3). Or maybe this character dies saving their child, and then the child goes on to save the day. RIP Stoic.

Now most writers will always give their characters appropriate endings, because well. We authors love our characters. Only a few authors don’t do this, and even fewer don’t do and the story is still pretty good. So, I’m here to tell you that if a character that is really cool and strong, that dies too quickly and it just doesn’t seem right, then it probably isn’t. Okay. That character just might show up again. Especially if this is in a supernatural world and the character that died is supernatural.

This is also relevant to villains. Because they come back sometimes too.

Thirdly the Spark…

Killing off a character is hard, especially when we have put so much effort into shaping and developing the character, giving them some of our own traits. It hurts authors a lot more than it may hurt you. Trust. But sometimes, we can’t do anything about it. Why? because of the spark! The spark is the original idea. It’s the thing that makes you write the story. If this means that a character has to die, or the ship doesn’t work. Then that means it’s gonna be a sad story. Changing the spark is like changing the constitution. You need to really think hard about it.

Now here is a warning, playlists are useful as well as dangerous. I am the kind of person who likes to make a playlist for every story (and sometimes every chapter) I write and listen to it while writing. Playlists have gotten through many a writing block, and they are great for inspiration. However, if you add the wrong song, all hell can break loose. Let me give you an example where I almost killed a character. We all have a sad Viking funeral song, right? Well, I was listening to mine, (The Sun in the Stream, Enya) and, well, the ship almost hit an iceberg. Luckily, I was saved by a happy love song, (Dreams, The Cranberries).

You could kill or save characters, going completely against the spark. You could add fluff where there is supposed to be a fight scene. You could add angst in a perfectly good and healthy relationship. Music is a powerful influence, so I beg all of you, be wise with your Spotify playlists. And consult a friend before changing a spark.

Moving on, I bring you the Hogwarts Guide to Relationships…

Each relationship can be categorized into Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. And please don’t be offended by this. If you are a Gryffindor in a Slytherin relationship than good on you. I’m not the sorting hat.

Let’s start off with a good ol’ Gryffindor relationship. This is usually canon. It is the main character and the main character. They’re high-school enemies. They hate each other because they are rivals, they are both exceedingly attractive. Then they are put in a difficult situation and they have to work their way out… together. And they fall in love and yeah. It's cliché. They are the super-heroes. They both are really nice bubbly people. They cannot be bad guys, they just can’t. Okay, it’s not in the job description. They will go through at least one difficult situation, but they will come out on top.

Moving on, Ravenclaw relationship. It’s simple, it can be canon or not. They like each other. They are the main character’s older sibling and their partner. Either that or they are the bad guy. They are kinda great because they are genuine with each other. They are also goals. They may break up once, but they got back together so it’s fine. Not many people ship them, but that’s only because they want to be in the place of one of them. They have a strong trust and are very close. They have some kind of telepathy, and it’s not even creepy. You’re not sure if you can trust them, but you know they would die for each other. They are oddly wise and are constantly giving good advice. They can get you out of any situation, cos they know people. If they are good, then they kind of live in the grey area. They play cards and both have a good polka face. They could be evil, but they are evil together. I ship this, this is my OTP, leave me alone, pls.

Hufflepuff relationships: cute, fluffy, friendly, cute. They are happy, they love each other. These are two content individuals who are on their first and only relationship because they are hardcore canon and they will be married. One bought the other a dog for their birthday. Either a dog a cat or a turtle. Everyone ships them, even though they can be kind of annoying because they are so cute. You want the best for them. One does medieval sword fighting and the other does every martial-arts and you are impressed…. and very surprised. They are all the love languages, and teasing isn’t a love language, so it’s forbidden in their cute Christmas log cabin. This should not be taken as an offence to any Hufflepuffs, I am a Hufflepuff, and TBH I would never be able to sustain a relationship like this without losing my mind.

I’m sorry I lied, there are two more. Endo-Slytherin and Exo-Slytherin.

Endo-Slytherin is basically where they are only together because it benefits them. And both know it. That’s it, they are just there for the ship name, and the milkshake they get from winning the dare. They may learn to love each other, it is possible. But for that to happen they have to develop something called feelings and love and they don’t know what that is yet.

Exo-Slytherin, the world is thrown at them and they are trying to stay strong. This is more the crap Slytherins first years throw at Gryffindor first years. Their parents hate each other, their friends hate each other. One of them is forced to leave but they hold it up long distance. Then one of them is drugged and the other one sees a picture of them cheating, but they actually aren’t, and their strong trust is tested, but they get through. This ship could sail or hit an iceberg its really up to the writer. But I feel sorry for them, they just wanna be a Hufflepuff relationship, it is really not their fault.

That’s it.

When it comes to Richonne goodness, there are few as good as @nyese3529. She could be described as a quiet storm in the world of Fanfiction. From wonderfully told tales of historical Richonne in Montana, to a modern day Richonne in Brooklyn, plus an assortment of other stories in between; @nyese3529 always has her readers devouring her stories and wanting more even before we finish the chapter.

We can’t know all of her secrets to being such an amazing writer, but hopefully this Q&A will help us to see how she got to be one of our favorites in the Fanfiction world.

Why is Richonne so fun to write?

“Writing for this couple has been interesting. Like most fanfictions, you’re able to take canon characters to new landscapes or places in alternate universes(au), or keep things canon(strictly or loosely)and legit do a better job at writing the characters in their world than the show writers ever have.

Do you have a writing schedule?

“Very much no. Lol. I used to do a lot of late night writing, then my work/school schedule changed so I do it when I can. When I finally sit down and write, it could be just a paragraph I get out or a whole 5000 word chapter. Just depends on my mood.”

What is your editing process?

“I write in layers. A very rough first draft, maybe with dialogue and small gestures. Then, I’ll re-read and add on to the story for its dramatic color, check punctuation and grammar. It takes me just as long to edit than it does to write.”

What drew you to fanfiction?

“I’ve liked fanfiction since I was a teen(Mulder and Scully, thanks for my teen obsessions). I read a lot, and have always liked going to other worlds. I used to dream up scenarios for my life that are so fairytale-like and they never happen. I found that fanfiction is never disappointing because you want your OTP’s to be endgame(at least I do). Also sex, I like to write them having sex. Lots of sex….kisses too. Lol.”

What has writing fanfiction taught you about being a writer?

“That I’m not perfect. Also, that there is a humbleness to putting yourself out there to receive reviews that are spectacular or extremely critical, or that you’ll get few or none at all. And not receiving reviews does not equate to being a good writer. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS! The actual Views I receive mean more to me, cause they let me know people are reading.”

Who outside the fandom knows you write fanfiction?

“Lots of people know, but they have never read anything. I remember with my first few stories I was so happy to get my reviews, I’d show them to my mom or sisters.”

How many people know you're a writer?

“My family knows that I write, but I have never given them anything to read.”

Where do you see your writing taking you?

“I’ve seen I’ve had readers from France, Spain, Brazil, China, Canada...etc and I’m like, “these wonderful people in other countries are reading my stories?” So, it can take me lots of places...where exactly it’ll take me, I’m not sure. I’ve had many people suggest to me on ff.net and Tumblr to try and publish some things, but I’m not sure where to even start with that. I do love writing, though. Whether it puts me on the map or not, I’ll wait and see."

Do you have advice for writers just starting out?

“Yes. Don’t be afraid to seek help. I remembering putting out two stories originally, and having 20 reviews for each one. I reached out to Siacore to ask what could I do to get more viewers/reviews. She told me it takes time to build a base, plus a lot of other things that I still remember to this day. So I’ll say, keep writing...especially for yourself and then for your readers. And always be happy that you had the courage to put yourself out there to be reviewed. Not many people can do what you do. Writing is a trying and time consuming process that is done literally to please and for not a penny more.”

What do you wish you knew before posting your first chapter?

“How to work ff.net. It was hard for my computer challenged butt to understand. Lol. Also, that the nerves and anxiety you experience before posting a chapter will NEVER go away.”

How many writing playlists do you have? Does your music have to change with what you write?

“I don’t have “playlists.” I might listen to a song and think it’s perfect to write a story around. Or, I’ll hear an old tune and think that’s what my Rick and Michonne are going through right now. So I’ll listen to a song on repeat endlessly. If the mood is sad, I’ll find the saddest song to listen to. A sexy song for sexy times and so on. But, I do have to listen to music often for inspiration.”

How many projects do you have going on right now? One major W.I.P. Y’all might have heard of a little story called “The Musings of Rick Grimes.” After I finally finish that, I think I still may churn out stories. I’ve made a few promises to people I have to keep.

Have you ever written a scene that’s made you cry?

“Yes. Every story I’ve written has made me shed a tear or two. A scene from Musings, which was similar to my life, did that. A scene from Blue Skies had me balling like a baby, and a scene from my Levees story(well a few from there)really had me crying.”

Where do you get your best story ideas?

“Real life historical events. My love for romance. My love for suspense. Stuff from canon Richonne and TWD. And the rest is stuff from my own personal life. I try to weave all of them together to get a great story. It’s worked out so far...I think.”

Do you have a solution for when you’re stuck?

“Not gonna lie. I have had major blocks with writing and I wanted to give up. I didn’t realize just how supportive the fandom is as a whole. And when I needed support for my personal life stuff, this fandom was right here. And when I got better and felt like my writing wasn’t the same, you guys have told me that it is. Do I have a method that best works, not really, but I write for me and when I’m ready, I write for y’all.”

What does WTOWW mean to you?

“Like I’ve said before, it’s important to get help from other writers. To have support. The network taught me that we are all real people, with real lives and goals and dreams. There is a sisterhood there that always puts a smile on my face and makes the other writers much more relatable. The inclusivity and our diversity is what makes it the best experience.”

The Used - Listen. I don’t care if it’s typical or expected or whatever but I love Buried Myself Alive. But also Poetic Tragedy.

What kind of impact has 1 left on your life?

Jimmy Eat World - Hahahaha like... a lot. It’s hard to say because they’ve just... been there? Since I was 16? I’m 33 now so that’s a long-ass time. But they’re one of a handful of bands I can tie to very specific times in my life and associate specific albums with. It was via my dumb ass associating a person with one of their songs that made me learn how dumb that is and work to not make that a bad thing.

And I will literally never love another person as much as I love the Futures album.

What are your favourite lyrics of 5?

The Rocket Summer - I have “Just point to the light that casts out the dark” from the song White Fireworks tattooed on me in Bryce’s handwriting, so. That’s up there. But I also really love everything about This Is Me, so.

How many times have you seen 4 live?

The Gaslight Anthem - Son of a bitch you’re gonna make me work for this one aren’t you? It’s gotta be... 7? I pulled that number out of my ass, I literally have NO idea, but it’s gotta be at least once per album since The ‘59 Sound, plus a super tiny show before... I think it was American Slang came out, plus some festivals. But I’m really super stoked on seeing them this summer on the ‘59 Sound 10th anniversary tour.

What is your favorite song by 7?

36 Crazyfists - It’s honestly barely even a song (more like a spoken word piece) but Song For The Fisherman is so powerful. And 16 years later I’m still going way too hard for Slit Wrist Theory.

July Talk - Not really but Strange Habit is like... the best OTP song. And because I’m dumb MCU garbage, I put Having You Around on my Stucky playlist... that is... not a thing because I’m not weird.

When did you first get into 2?

AFI - In 2003 when Girls Not Grey came out and all my hardcore friends were like “UGH sellouts” and I was like “ok but... I like this...”

How did you get into 10?

Anberlin - I saw them live in 2003 opening for Further Seems Forever but distinctly remember I couldn’t HEAR a damn thing. But then 2 years later I think it was probably the AP website had a pop up ad for the Never Take Friendship Personal album that had little clips of some of the songs and I was SO INTO IT. Fast forward to 2014 I was running around the continent trying to hit as many stops on their final tour as humanly possible which included sobbing bc I missed their set at Warped which turned out to be their last Toronto gig because their actual final tour date got cancelled because they got stuck in a snow storm, the same one I got stuck in on my way home from hearing all of Cities and NTFP live in NYC. And I went to the final show ever in Orlando.

My Lartis playlist (III) - Love & Lust

Ok, so.... maybe it’s time to release the third part of my Lartis playlist. I’ve been doubting a little because looks like first part was very appreciated, when it comes to sadness and loss every TRAOD fan can relate; but truth be told second part arose less enthusiasm, maybe because the thing went more personal. I’m afraid it’s gonna happen more or less the same with this third part, but, anyway, here it goes.

This time I focus on love and lust and, most often, in both. Because I understand the potential romance/relationship between Lara and Kurtis needs to have these two aspects. I don’t want their relationship based only in love, without the lust, because then it’d be some kind of Twilight romance, on a teen-ish relationship, and we’re talking of two adults who were already wishing to fuck each other in the airlock cutscene in TRAOD - and if you think otherwise, you’re lying.

But also, a relationship based just in lust is as much as unsatisfactory to me. I don’t like making everything about sex between them. Again, in TRAOD we can already sense they care for each other, which is touching in both cases considering they’re loners, merciless killers and they have just meet each other. So yeah, love must be present also in there.

All these songs remind me, more of less, this headcanon of mine, and have me inspired more than once to write more than one passage of my fanfics, or simply, were sounding while I was writing.

Nightwish - Come Cover Me (Wishmaster)

Nightwish was my first metal band and I’ve very fond memories of it. Unlike Epica and Within Temptation, their lyrics speak about lust and erotica more than often, but they’ve this tasteful mix with love I really enjoy in Lartis. Come Cover Me, a song as romantic as passionate, with erotic vibes, is probably the one which best represents what I mean.

Damn, it’s perfect. Also the famous single Wish I Had An Angel will be perfect too, though this song is more lust and less love, honestly. The moans... and sighs... no comment.

Samael - High Above (Reign Of Light)

I discovered Samael thanks to a friend and after seeing many Wacken live shows in YouTube, I fell totally in love with this band. It’s something different, some techno-metal or whatever the hell it’s called, it’s harsh, and rough, and intense, so it speaks a lot of of lust to me.

Their albums Reign Of Light and Eternal are, simply, flawless. Other albums are harder to listen to me. Among all their songs, High Above is the most perfect to me. I can perfectly picture a sexual relationship in the rythms and vibes of this song, but again, the lyrics are so perfectly tasteful... a must to listen.

Nine Inch Nails - Closer (The Downward Spiral)

Ok, not my band, not my style either, but this one is... legendary. It was needed. It was compulsory. Closer - originally Closer To God, ha! - is one of the most erotic and sensous songs ever written. I remember it was an iconic song back in the good days of the Sani (the KTEB forum) so it had to be here.

This song, despite the crudeness of its lyrics - which normally are NOT my cup of tea, but in this case I will let them pass - fits perfectly my idea of the rough, intense sex I picture for my OTP. Also, please, the rythms of the song... that bass is absolutely insane. Not to mention Trent Reznor’s voice. That guy gets you pregnant with his voice.

And again, it’s not just about the fucking. There are feelings, very intense and passionate, behind this frenetic coitus, and I love that mix.

Qntal - Entre Moi Et Mon Ami (Tristan Und Isolde)

I was doubting if including this song, because it’s totally different from the previous ones, but... as I sometimes used it to inspire myself for writing, in the end I’ll include it. Entre Moi Et Mon Ami (”Me And My Friend”) is a Middle-Ages French poem written in Occitaine language which speaks about two lovers meeting secretly to enjoy their love. As it’s a very old romance, composed in a time where it was forbidden to speak openly about sex, it’s hard to find the erotic vibes on it, looking more like just a romance poem of two people kissing in a meadow.

But if you know something about trobadours and minstrels, you’ll realize these songs spoke also about sex, but in a very veiled way. Qntal, nowadays reborn as Helium Vola, is an amazing, fascinating “band” who makes music out of Middle-Ages textes (Carmina Burana, Omnis Mundi Creatura, etc...) with a tasteful combination of electronics and operistic voices. It’s called electro-medieval for a reason, and I simply love it. Also, they went far, of course, than the original trobadour who might have written this poem, because the sighs and athmosphere of the song evokes, again, more just than mere kissing.

I love this uncertainty, this... smooth je ne sais quoi. And gosh I know this look totally out of style in this post, but I love this kind of music too. It’s more than music. It’s experimental.

Anyway, I will stop here. I think I bored you enough with this issue. Of course there are more songs that will perfectly fit here but... let’s leave this at this point. I hope you can enjoy some of them at least.
