Hi, I'm new at learning about asteroids and I stumbled across this one : Frigg (77).
I heard it's related to how your partner treats you or loves you, relationship related things.
Mine's in Libra in the twelfth house sextile Mercury, any idea what it could mean?
frigg, goddess of fertility and motherhood (asteroid 77)
frigg and freya are often confused between one another (i believe it was proto-germanic language that cause the distinction between the two to be so confusing and caused the two to merge in myth) people tend to argue one has dominance over the domains of love, fertility, friday, etc. to keep it straight, I PERSONALLY, will state that on my page frigg will be the mother (her husband, odin, is the all father), friday, and dedication (wifely and sexually conservative) meanwhile freya will be beauty, love (often more sexually indulgent), and war. and both will be representations of fertility and divination. i believe you are describing more so freya (76) than frigg (77). let me know in the comments if you still feel interested in understanding your placement after reading frigg's myth and my interpretation. if you are interested in a freya post please use my "ask me anything" button and request her!
on to the myth of frigg.
Tumblr media
Frigg is Odin's wife and the queen of the Aesir. There are very few primary sources that define her characteristics or her status beyond her relationship to her husband and children. The worship of Frigg was namely fertility, marriage, home, wisdom, and most things wife-related (again, i would like to blame christianity for rewriting myths because Frigg likely was much more than just a wife and homemaker but there is such little to go off of now aside from someone who has grown up in the culture (which i am not that someone)). The few sources she appears in present her as a pacifist and gentle woman. In "Lokasenna", Loki says terrible things about Frigg and Freya tells Loki to stop because Frigg has the ability to use seidr on him. Seidr is the power to work with fate in the universe and change it. In the Norse tradition, this is a facet of magic associated with a völva - a partially closed practice of witchcraft (you need to be devoted and trained by another pre-existing völva). Frigg's gifts are seen as powerful: shape changing, fate spinning (she is even referred to as The Spinner), prophecy, rune casting, etc. and she never appears to use them to cause harm. Her power is most prevalently seen in Prose Edda in which she does everything in her power to protect Baldur. She made fire, water, earth, trees, sickness, animals, venom, metal, etc. swear to not harm Baldur. Of course, Loki found a loophole in all this. Upon his death, Frigg convinces Hermod to travel to Hel and bring Baldur back - sadly, Hel did not allow it. IN MY OPINION Frigga in your chart represents a) your relationship with your family unit and who you would do anything for, b) where you use your powers in a caring manner, c) where you can change your fate, and d) where you have the power to make others respect your wishes and fulfill their promises.
Tumblr media
i encourage you to look into the aspects of frigga along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of frigga AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede frigga!
OTHER RELATED ASTEROIDS: loke (4862), odin (3989), wodan (2155), baldur (4059), freia (76), hel (949), hela (699), and hermod (2630)!

Can you share the lore of your cursed ancestor? Has there been anything historically or recently that happened that have curse vibes or have been attributed to the curse? I’d love to hear more about this!
So my dad’s mother’s family is not only old, but well documented. Through her side, I’m a descendant of the Fitzgeralds. Oh boy are there are weird legends surrounding them, and it’s hard to get some of the specifics on the legends in the US. I know the Welsh side has some legends too, but I’m not even gonna try with that due to how convoluted that section of the family tree is.
Please keep in mind, I don’t know if my branch of the family (which no longer carries that last name) did something in the US that worsened whatever bad juju was accumulated or we just somehow concentrated it.
With that out of the way, buckle in, this is gonna be a longish post
Firstly we have John Fitzgerald (1st Baron of Desmond). He was called “the ape” because his grandson was “rescued by such a creature.” I’m as stumped as anyone else on that.
Gerald FitzMaurice Fitzgerald (Gearóid Iarla) the 3rd Earl of Desmond mysteriously disappeared around the shores of Lough Gur, a lake with its own legends. In tales, Gerald had a romantic relationship with the Goddess Aine, who is sometimes called the mother of the Fey. Legends vary on how consensual it was.
In the legends where it was a more loving relationship, Aine has him sleeping under or near the lake where he’ll rise again to assist Ireland regain glory. In legends where their relationship wasn’t great, she cursed him to wander the shores of the lake as a ghostly horseman every 7 years. I should also mention one legend has him transformed into a goose and disappear in the river Maine. But there’s also a legend he and his warriors are in a suspended state near an old fort called Hacklim.
Now, this one is unclear. It could be in relation to the 3rd Earl of Desmond or a later Earl in the same family with the same name. He was rumored to be a magic practitioner. The legend goes his wife wished to know an arcane secret. Gerald, who deeply loved her agreed on the condition she didn’t make a noise during the rituals needed. She did eventually cry out which sunk the castle into the waters of Lough Gur. He is said to have become a vampiric revenant and occasionally abducts young women to drain their life.
(The Fitzgeralds were originally invaders to Ireland, coming over with Strongbow. They were not well-liked during their early history)
While I can’t find much information about it, Clíodna, who is stated to be the queen of the banshees, was reported to have affairs with various members of the Fitzgeralds, most likely due to her association with the lands of Desmond.
Now there is a legend of a man who’s name translates from Gaelic as John fitz-James Fitzgerald (this could be the 13th Earl of Desmond or someone unrelated), who dropped dead on his wedding day - the rumor was he was spirited away by the Fey, specifically Clíodna. The daughter of a local wise woman was able to bring him back after a poetry contest and talk about a dowry.
(As a fun side note, she is involved in the legend of the Blarney Stone - which I have kissed)
So, basically, family screwed around with a very powerful entity. The Fey are associated with death in some legends (Lough Gur is sometimes said to be an entrance to the underworld).
Weird crap just happens to us. It’s to the point where I know to expect weird if I’m traveling anywhere outside the US. Evacuations, injuries, accidentally making people fall in love with you, etc. weird crap.
It’s become a joke that you don’t officially belong to the family until you have your first near death experience (my official count for those is currently 7). Most of my cousins, aunts, uncles, of course my dad, and grandmother have all had them. Friends joke that death is flirting with us, but due to the associations between the Fey and death, it might be them trying to reclaim us instead.
It’s not normal things either. Example, my dad should have died in a car accident at 16, but he got out of it with a pinched nerve and some cuts. I’ve seen a photo of the truck he was in after he got rescued - the cabin was flattened. Another example, when I dealt with anaphylactic shock, the reason I was hospitalized as long as I was was due to my immune system rebooting itself like a computer. I still don’t know how it did that.
We don’t particularly like drama but we attract it. Oh boy do we attract it. I don’t want to get into that.
The family is weird about lying. Like, my dad has a physical response if he lies. It’s the weirdest thing. I don’t care to lie either, but I don’t have a breakdown over it. Dad will.
Nothing about us makes sense

Goddess mazu why some people consider her to be a bodhisattva ?
Māzǔ 妈祖 is not considered a bodhisattva, as far as I'm aware.
There are legends that she received both Taoist and Buddhist teachings during her human life as Lín Mòniáng 林默娘 as both religions were present in China at this time, but officially she is a Taoist goddess and a deified ancestor. That means she was born as a human who ascended to godhood after death (her name Mazu literally means 'mother ancestor').
She is also known as the Queen of Heaven (tiān hòu 天后) and is said to have performed miracles during her human life as a Fujian shaman, including spirit travel, telling the future, changing the weather, healing the sick, etc (typical shaman things, really).
Bodhisattvas are strictly Buddhist divinities who are god-level and enlightened but have taken a vow not to enter Nirvana / become a Buddha until all other sentient beings are liberated and free from suffering. The bodhisattva vows are what define them, and Mazu is not recorded as having taken these vows.

drop lost truth au lore?
OH BOY DO I GOT SOME LORE FOR Y'ALL
i changed up some stuff for the zelda lore, especially the gerudo cause they're racist stereotypes so i can start with them.
they're a very successful community built on trading. everyone, regardless of their origins, are allowed into the villages. the current chief for the main village is named after one of the legendary seven sages, nabooru. she's trying her best to lead the village, especially after the betrayal of someone who she thought she could trust.
for what they wear, it's mostly clothing that can help protect them from the heat of the sun.
more lore stuff under the cut
Main Lore:
after calamity's defeat thousands of years ago, it lost all of its power and is now known as ganon once again. ganondorf has risen to power once again, killing off the current chosen hero and queen zelda before they could stop him. before he could get their triforces, however, they vanished. many assume they went to the new chosen ones. queen zelda's infant child was taken by impa and hasn't been heard of since. people and pokemon fled castle town to the other regions of hyrule to escape ganondorf's cruel reign. a toddler was left in the lost woods as their mother took her dying breath. meanwhile, a six year old child was enjoying her new reborn life (although she didn't know that yet).
years later, a ten year old is summoned by the protector of the kokiri forest, madame saria. she tells him of the legend and how he, a half-hylian half-kokiri child, was chosen to be the new bearer of the triforce of courage. he and his three pokemon travel to their first dungeon where the master sword would reside. in their, they would find an unconscious girl who had powers unknown to hyrule. she would be the one to step up as hyrule's princess as they both agreed zelda was much too young to bear responsibility.
ganondorf managed to travel to a different dimension in the years leading up to everything, kidnapping a great dragon who had the power of truth. as our heroes first encounter him, he reveals his plan to alter history and the truth. the dragon of truth begs them to free him as ganondorf drags him through the time machine. they follow after him in hopes to prevent the dark king from altering the truth. maybe they shall find their own truths as they try stop a man's cruel ideals.
-----------------------------------------------
okay so i don't really have kamitsure's lore stuff down yet but i do have some of kudari's down.
kudari originally goes by link before deciding to change his name, same as how kamitsure originally went by serenity. at first he has blond hair and blue eyes like the other link's but as the adventure continues, his hair and eyes become more and more silver. the reason he's half-kokiri is because he was taken in by the kokiri similar to how oot link was. he also has a magical flute so he can cast spells with just a simple song. he also learns a verrrry familiar song.
i'm thinking of doing some parallels with kamitsure and the past zelda's with how similar their stories can be (kingdom's being destroyed, sharing the same name, technically being the reincarnations of a goddess, etc.).
as for how the story would go on after kudari pulls out the master sword, he and kamitsure go on a trip to kakariko village. it's the closest to another village which has a tunnel that leads straight to castle town. they stop by lon lon ranch along the way and they meet psyche, anzu, and arakan. psyche takes care of a particular ponyta called epona and teaches them her song and gives important information. you must have a starter pokemon if you want to be allowed into the village the leads to castle town. luckily kakariko has a professor who gives them their starters and registers them as trainers. the professor also gives them phones with built in pokedexes.
there are cooldown periods for the time machine that allows them to go out and explore hyrule. this allows them to get upgrades from the great fairies and restock. it also allows them to get to know the other kingdoms and gain their trust for their final battle against ganondorf.
dungeons that they need to defeat are spread across their own hyrule and the others. at the end of every single one is a pokemon familiar to kudari and kamitsure that they must free. those pokemon will then join their group and help them. they'll also catch their own pokemon throughout the journey as well.
by the end of the journey they'll each have more than six pokemon on their teams.
i think humans and pokemon fight alongside each other. like, they fight together to defeat a monster. it gives a chance for awesome combo moves. also there's mega evolution, z-moves, and dynamaxing are a thing.
anzu and arakan are kinda like battle facility heads despite being six year olds. kudari and kamitsure train alongside them to grow stronger alongside their pokemon and to build trust with their teams.
this is all i have that isn't super major spoilers so far. it's kinda all over the place but soon i'll have a google doc so i can then organize everything. i'll leave a list of the current major rulers and the pokemon they have alongside the pokemon kudari and kamitsure will have by the end of their journey.
King Sidon II, King of the Zora. He has a Primarina and a Gyrados.
Daruk, Leader of the Goron. He has a Gigalith and a Rhyperior.
Nabooru, Chief of the Main Gerudo Village. She has a Gardevoir and a Lilligant
Revar, Chief of the Rito. She has a Talonflame and a Corviknight.

Rose LaBelle (TGA OC)
Tumblr media
Hello, my rose petals!
Here I present my official FFVII OC character Rose LaBelle from my upcoming Crisis Core fanfic The General's Angel: A Crisis Core Story ❤️
Here's a little background and little description of her, some of it until I can reveal some of the fanbase OCs soon (could reveal one or more of the fanbase settings now :)):
Rose LaBelle was born in Corrinia (my fanbase setting I decided to reveal the name, which was far from Midgar, once known as a kingdom) in February 19th, 1982, after when the doctors, or professors thought something went wrong with her in her fetus stage when her mother, was pregnant with her, after injecting some different cells that is somehow created by the flower (a golden rose) from the Goddess's tear 3000 years ago (which I can get to the part in another bio along with Corrinia and my other OC I might create soon, and it's different than Minerva lol) other than Jenova cells, and wasn't infused with Mako whatsoever, meaning she is born a different, but an incredible child with Goddess's cells, holding extraordinary magic, a different materia, which will be revealed in the references on my second profile, and a very special power such as a gift of Sunlight, having golden hair and glittering eyes. After childbirth, Rose was taken to the ICU as the professors took some tests and treatments, whether if they were right if Rose is dying or not. But then, the child was considered a miracle child after a successful tests. Her overjoyed parents for the first time, with the relief increasing that the baby is alright. Days after birth, the parents took Rose to the Goddess's Sanctuary, a castle in the fields where prayers were heard and will a ruler live. A priestess, who is also a sorceress, who had been waiting for the firstborn, due to the Corrinia legend that the firstborn would one day, with the Goddess's cells, will become the ruler of the land by defeating a man who is a lord of the underground, which will be named soon, and wants the sun's gift and power to release a dangerous dragon who was a God to their race and destroy Gaia to rule the planet as well before Sephiroth could (before the events of Final Fantasy VII). The birth was celebrated with Rose being praised and worshipped. Clarita claims that Rose is a firstborn child, and told the parents of the child that Rose will one day defeat the Lord of the Underground and become Queen of Corrinia, while the sorceress rules in order to keep the land safe from unlawful measures until the day has come, although Corrinia had changed a whole lot since years. One night, the Lord of the underground of his race tried to take Rose away, since he knew about the gift of Sunlight she holds, and decided to take her, take her powers and will use it to release a dangerous dragon that is a God to his race and destroy Gaia. Rose's mother tried to save her, but is brutally murdered. Fleeing on the way to his lair, Rose's father attempts to chase after him, until Corrinian SOLDIERS hunted him down. They retrieved Rose, and the Lord returned to his lair, enraged over losing Rose. He decided to wait till one day when Rose grows up in order to get her and take her powers away.
Weeks after Rose's birth and her mother's funeral, young Sephiroth sees her for the first time in Hojo's lab when the professor heard something about her birth, different cells, abilities and a special power of sunlight she holds. It was a short period of time for Sephiroth to see Rose when her father refuses to let Hojo experiment her to become a monster, although Sephiroth became curious about her. Rose never knew much about her mother, and her father usually tells stories about her and the legend of Corrinia and the Goddess's Sanctuary castle. Rose became curious about it.
Rose, at four years old, met Sephiroth for the first time after four years, beginning their friendship. When Rose then turned five, she read all about SOLDIERS, Shinra, Mako reactors, etc. One day, Rose begins to dream of becoming SOLDIER like Sephiroth, what he was to become as well when being raised by Shinra, when he told her about it during their friendship. Rose then claims that she heard a strange voice of what she believes in her heart of what she wants to become, what she wants to believe. She often get treatments from the professors she once knew, and was offered to for years.
At six years old, Rose started to get sick with a unknown, but different kind of brain disease that isn't seen or unheard of before, and was hospitalized, but not in the lab. After a bitter argument with her father after being told that he didn't want her becoming SOLDIER, she ran away from home, came all the way to Banora where she meets Genesis Rhapsodos. The two became adoptive siblings, also meeting Angeal Hewley. They became friends. Rose then meets Sephiroth again, but afraid of telling him about her runaway from Corrinia, and couldn't bring herself to tell her about her illness and afraid to tell him about her dream, afraid that they will get into an argument and will lose a friend she knew.
During Wutai War, maybe before First Soldier, an eight-year-old Rose started to get really sick, and having a fever. After learning Sephiroth was out at the Corrinian coastal area, where all monsters had spotted, she became worried about him, believing he might get killed alone fighting them off. Rose left the lab to find Sephiroth, but ended up feeling exhausted from the illness, not knowing what Sephiroth had become. She then was attacked by the monsters that spotted her. After a thirteen or fourteen-year-old Sephiroth finishes his enemies off, he finds Rose out cold. He takes her to a local cabin in the forest to get warm. Rose wakes up, telling him how worried she was for him when he was out at the coastal area. Sephiroth assures her that he was alright, and that she shouldn't be worried anymore, and that he'll protect her. Rose decided that she had enough courage to tell him that she is going to Midgar one day in the future to become SOLDIER, and thanks him for rescuing her. Until she realized Sephiroth has become SOLDIER, became selected and is leaving to Rhadore Archipelago for his first mission. He promises Rose he'll return soon after and hopes for her to get better, as she promises to get well. One morning, Rose was hospitalized once again after a lung hemorrhage from her fever, and this time, back to the lab after Sephiroth rushes Rose there as fast as possible. The worried Sephiroth, before his first mission, felt fear of losing her, until the professor claims she was very ill, but assures him that she'll be okay in the next days. Sephiroth feared of losing a best friend he knew for a long time, thought she was dying, but relieved that she is going to be okay. He sees her asleep, recovery after she was being treated, promising he'll find her again after his mission, and wants her to promise that she'll become SOLDIER one day, although she can hear him in her sleep during her recovery. When Rose was discharged after full recovery from her fever, and returned to her brother Genesis, she told him about Sephiroth and what she wanted to be. Rose tries to search for Sephiroth, but realizes he left for his mission. Rose decided she would not keep worrying, and will admire him and wishing him a best of luck.
When Rose was 14, she traveled to Midgar and joined SOLDIER, as promise was made, although still having an illness she tried to live through and get treatments every day, then starts having a passion of drawing and writing for her free time. She was a talented artist when she started drawing, painting, story illustrations and goes to schools during days off from SOLDIER to learn art techniques, and goes to a school where she learns to write since she likes writing, poetry and reading books as well. Like Genesis, she loves poetry, plays and the arts. Although she loves to tease her brother over his love for LOVELESS. She began writing her very first romance fantasy book and drew the illustrations of them, based on years when Sephiroth saved her and what she felt like after being saved. She finished the book after turning 16 two years later, and published it where everyone (except Sephiroth, at least not yet) read it, knowing she was SOLDIER and considered the best author, realizing or not even that it's based on a true event of Sephiroth rescuing Rose at such young age. Rose was loved by all people and SOLDIER, by her beauty and personality. Rose maybe a bit shy, but does socialize with a lot of SOLDIER employees, her friends and other family, and especially Genesis and Angeal, loves to tease them sometimes. Both Genesis and Angeal think of Rose as special, and that Genesis would protect her if she's ever in trouble, despite her not wanting help since she wants to experience mission and battles for herself. She forgot about her dad, but isn't thinking about going back to Corrinia, in fear that he will disown her if he finds out she's in SOLDIER. Rose had the life of her own with her brother, friends and more. When Sephiroth learned Rose became SOLDIER, he was simply happy, but could feel the fear of losing her, even the promise was made when she was in fhe hospital years ago. He was determined to protect her whenever she's in trouble, and hopes she would do well in SOLDIER. He (and possibly Rose) could feel something they didn't know they could feel all these years (which I won't spoil that). After Rose turned 17, she wondered when she will see Sephiroth again, but also not knowing if she fitted in as SOLDIER, unknowing not just what other places in Corrinia she has never heard of, but a threat will come to her.
That's pretty much it for now. I know, very long. Not as accurate to write, but it'll do for now until I can reveal names of OCs, settings, etc. when writing the chapters. Could be some changes, who knows. Just needed a background for this OC lol. This was before (spoiler alert lol) Rose and Sephiroth became lovers. I had finished this piece since October during my recovery from my wisdom teeth surgery out of boredom while resting. I have to admit that I really love how she turned out in this! I'll possibly update and/or expand the description in literature form in the future during writing my story (and improve my writing). The different materia, Corrinia's origins, the Lord of the underground, etc. will all be revealed soon. I know it doesn't seem to be that accurate to create something like this for a Final Fantasy VII fanbase OCs and settings, but I was hoping to do a little better, and improve on my writing.
A little description of her outfit and appearance, Rose appears as a 17-18 year old girl who appears of a beautiful young woman with long golden blonde hair and sparkle greenish blue eyes. Rose does wear a 1st Class SOLDIER dress, but much different than the other SOLDIER outfits, especially the women with Lucia Lin from First Soldier lol, since I like to give something special about this outfit for my OC :3. This dress Rose is wearing is a rose gold torso (which is the breastplate, shoulder pauldrons, a sun shaped abdominal plate, belt buckle with a rose on it and a sheath for her rapier). Rose has hot pink gloves and rose gold gauntlets, hot pink socks and rose gold heel boots. Rose also has rose gold rose earrings, and a rose necklace her mother had given her before her brutal death. She also has hair accessories for her braids, bangs and has a sun crown. Her outfit is an inspiration to Princess Zelda from Hyrule Warriors by attire and Rapunzel from Tangeld by hair, and personality lol. Rose's personality that she can be awkward, sassy and stubborn sometimes, but also is caring, kind, supportive and has a heart :3
I have another outfit I have drawn for her, which I will reveal soon ^^. I know, it's a lot. But a full bio will be written by literature form. I know what I have been doing is late and falling behind because of other things going on and trying to plan, and age wise. I like the story to take place when she is 17 to 18 years old at the time, despite my 19th bday coming up next month. Maybe I can write some post stories after finishing up the story. I can do some pre and short stories ^^. That'll be fun to do :). Hopefully I'll get to play Crisis Core and First Soldier while having my story going before playing the classic FFVII, Remake and Rebirth (when it comes)! :3

Crows, Bones, and Crones - The Morrigan; The Phantom Queen
An Educational post of The Morrigan
Tumblr media
As with a lot of the Celtic gods, I find it hard to find good information on The Morrigan. So I've decided to make this post for her!
Links will be provided as I do advocate that you do your own research.
Who is The Morrigan?
The Morrigan is known to many as the Triple Goddess of Death, The Phantom Queen, The Great Goddess, Great Queen, etc. Calling The Morrigan as one entity is similar to how Christians believe in the Father, the Son, and The Holy Spirit. She is three sisters and yet she is one goddess. It's ok if it is hard for you to grasp, humans weren't meant to understand gods.
(Known mostly in Irish mythology, there have been other figures in various Celtic mythology that are similar to her such as Morgan Le Fey.)
Etymology:
The name Morrigan, or Morrigu, is the anglicized of the Gaelic name Mór-Ríoghain, which means "Great Queen" in modern Irish.
The old name has been linked to the proto-indo-european word Mór (terror) and Ríoghain could relate to the Latin word Regina (queen). This is not fact, just speculation.
Skills and Strengths:
While gifted in many things, she is most known for her roles in battles, fate, and death.
Weapons:
Magic is seen to be her most used form of fighting. This includes shapeshifting, raining blood on her enemies, and more.
Symbols:
Inverted Triangle
Triple Spiral
Snake Coils
Owls
Crows and Ravens
Vultures
Faerie Rings
Fae
Holy Days: Samhain is a popular holiday for The Morrigan due to her significance with death.
Family:
It's not entirely known who her family is, though many believe her to be the wife or lover of the Dagda.
Siblings have included Ériu, Banba, and Fódla, who make up the triple goddess of spirit and sovereignty of Ireland.
Badb and Macha (or sometimes Neiman) who, along with the Morrigan, make up the triple goddess of war.
As well as the Glon, Gnim, Coscar, Fiacha, and Ollom, her brothers.
What is known is that she is the daughter(s) of Ernmas.
First Appearance
Sadly, not much is known for sure about this Great Queen. She first appears in Lebor Gabála Érenn (The book of invasions) which talks about the migration of the Tuatha Dé Danann to Ireland.
The earlier inhabitants, the Firbolg and the Fomorians, of the island didn't like the presence of these new beings and they found themselves at war, first with the Firbolg. Though the battle was hard and lives were lost (such as Ernmas, her mother) the Tuatha emerged victorious.
Later the new god of the Tuatha Dé Danann, Lugh asked the Morrigan for a prediction about the conflict arising between them and the Fomorians. She predicted that they would go to war.
Later her husband, the Dagda, would ask for a stronger prediction of this war to which she replied that though they would win the war, a terrible price would be paid. She also foretold that she would kill the Fomorian king Indech and bring fistfulls of his blood to the River Unshin.
The battle with the Fomorians ended with a poem from the Morrigan.
Ulster Cycle
The Goddess would also appear many times in the Ulster Cycle, a series of Old Irish myths and legends.
She appeared in the story with Cú Chulainn and after a series of events and his own foolishness, she prophesizes his death.
Later, as he is dying, Cú Chulainn ties himself to a stone with his entrails so that he can die standing up. Only once a crow has landed on his should do his enemies actually believe his is dead.
You can guess who the crow was.
Goddess of Death
Most widely know as the Goddess of Death, this title alone does not describe her. She was widely worshipped as being a goddess of earth and sovereignty.
It has been said that her breasts create the he hills in County Kerry called Da Chich Annan.
Author's Notes:
I wish there was more material I could offer here. Sadly there is so little written works left from ancient Ireland that have been found. This is just a run-down on the goddess and what you may need to know if you're looking into her.
If you have any links or texts that are credible that you would like to add, please let me know.

Lilith
Demonic goddess of transformation, dark wisdom, mysteries, transformational love, challenges, magick, death and rebirth, spiritual initiation, and the night
Lilith is one of the most ancient goddesses, and is the twinflame of Lucifer, the First Light in the universe. She is incomprehensibly powerful and complex, and has existed for millions of years, continuously evolving. Overall, Lilith is the Queen Mother of Hell and the bringer of the luminous dark of terrible understanding. This is what Illumination is, and is a role she shares with her husband. Lilith is the Queen of Night; the Dark Mother who whispers from the shadows and guides us through the Path of Thorns. Those who wish to follow her walk this very path, seeking to become as the perfect crimson rose, blooming in the eternal Night.
History: In the Zohar legend (taken from Mesopotamian beliefs), Lilith has more than one mythical origin: the commonly known in which she was the first human who turned into a demon, and the other where she and Samael began as one being before splitting in two. The latter is closest to the story she shared with me. She tells how Lucifer, the first-born god, had sacrificed half of his essence in order to have a twinflame. From this sacrifice, the Queen of Heaven manifested Lilith from her divine light. All the gods who saw her were in awe. Lucifer and Lilith fell deeply in love and married, there is no love that can match theirs as it flows through all creation. She is a duplicate of his divine essence (as Lucifer is connected to the Source) and shares in his unmatched beauty, wisdom, and desire to evolve.
Lilith was born as a goddess of unequaled beauty and splendour, as the small form as the Queen of Heaven. Lilith was known as the Queen of Queens when she lived in the heavens with Lucifer, and had the role of guiding many different beings through spiritual evolution. Together with Lucifer, they have had many children whom are all beautiful and benevolent. Despite what the Zohar began saying, Lilith does not actually harm children and instead seeks to protect them. This was a misconception due to the night-demoness, Lilitu (part of the Mesopotamian “Lilin” group of Lilitu, Ardat Lili, and Lilu) being merged with the goddess Lamashtu. Lilith and Lilitu are slightly connected in essence, but Lilitu only has a small fragment of Lilith’s energy. She is one of Lilith’s minor aspects (an independent being who was born from a shard of Lilith’s energy), and who acts as the Madam of the Succubi. Lilith however is not a succubus, especially since she values romance and the devotion to her beloved. Overall, Lilith loves children and adores their innocence and potential. Yet she will leave them to fend mainly for themselves when they are old enough, so they can become strong and independent. This is the same as how she trains her followers, as she will have them fight for what they need while guiding them.
In ancient times, Lilith lived with Lucifer in their heavenly kingdom for hundreds of millions of years before the Usurper, Jehovah, took over the Earth and cast aside the other gods. Jehovah was an Aeonic deity (a creator god) who sought to claim the Throne of the Universe as his own in order to gain more power, and eventually bring his plans to the Earth. Lucifer began a rebellion against him with Lilith and many other gods, but all was in vain. After a traumatic war, their kingdom was destroyed by Jehovah, who then cast them into the nightmarish land of Hell. The gods who were banished to Hell had their essences change to become more dark and intense (which is why they developed dark wings and horns). Now as demons, Jehovah taught his human followers that these ancient gods were evil tempters and had them become known as their opposites (Lilith as infertility and murder when she is loving and motherly, Lucifer as lies when he is truth, Mammon as greed when he is generosity, Beelzebub as gluttony when he is health, etc).
In Hell, Lucifer and Lilith are the High King and High Queen of their kingdom where they live in a desert wasteland of eternal twilight. There are some oases and flower gardens here, surrounding the dark castle where they live. There are grotesque scenes of corrupt souls being tortured in the distance and also an isle where Lilith tortures all the people (especially the monks) who lusted after her, other demons, or human children. Despite what many believe about Lilith, she hates being sexualized and does not represent loveless lust. She values sex that comes with love and respect, of being appreciated and uniting with a loved one. She enjoys the pleasure of sexuality and unity,. Lilith despises people who lust after her and disrespect her, especially since she is married, so she will curse or even kill those who do this to her.
Element: Fire, Akasha, Air, Unity, and Void
Colours: Black and Crimson (secondary)
Sacred Number: 7
Day of Week: Friday, Monday
Appearance: Lilith is a hauntingly beautiful and slender woman with very long, wavy black hair, black-red eyes, fair skin, regal but gentle facial features, elegant black horns, and large black feathered wings. She always wears long black dresses with long, elegant sleeves. The style is most similar to romantic gothic fashion, and is very regal. Her voice is very soothing and calm, but radiates power.  In her formless form, Lilith is like an indescribable black-light, that shines with the brightness of a dark star. It shifts in complexity and beauty, similar to Lucifer’s formless form.
Personality: Lilith is dark, enigmatic, serious, elegant, withdrawn, eerie, and unfathomable in her personality. She is often cryptic and tends to teach through riddles, making it so that the Seeker must ponder and discover lessons instead of simply having answers handed to them. She usually prefers to be loved and feared equally, and never becomes laid-back with any of her followers. Although, with certain people, she may choose to show some of her motherly side. She is the Dark Mother who initiates us on the Path of Night, of discovering the truth within the darkness and embracing the flower of Black Flame. She can often be ominous and serious, full of dark majesty. Her wisdom was gained through mastering immense pain and loss, and she seeks to show others how to discover their true selves by following a disciplined spiritual path, where we find peace in the silence and the night. She teaches us that we must “die” to be Reborn, for our current self must be stripped away in order for us to evolve. She initiates her devotees into her Dark Garden, where they learn that in order to gain true happiness, beauty, and wisdom, they must suffer first and overcome it. That is why all roses draw blood, for you must make sacrifices in order to gain something truly rewarding.
When angered, Lilith becomes very cold and terrifying, which tends to happen when she is severely insulted by someone, who does this purposefully. During these times, she appears with deathly pale skin, red eyes with streaks of blood, and claws that are 6 ft in length, with which she lashes out at these people to tear apart their bodies. Her curses are also fearful and very powerful. Lilith also stands to uphold free-will, so any form of cruelty or oppression is never tolerated by her. Those who are tormented by the treacherous and cruel can call upon Lilith for her vengeance. Lilith also seeks to empower both men and women equally; she cares not for whether you are male or female, she only values the strength of your spirit and your undying desire for knowledge. These things are what make you worthwhile.
Her sacred animal is the snake, especially the black python. This is because it is the closest creature to her personality, and is also a symbol of primordial knowledge, wisdom, silence, and transformation. Most often, Lilith’s energy can either feel like red wine enshrouded by the night, or the deepest depths of the voids of space.
Lilith reigns over the times of shadow and the unknown, and when the world is exposed to the infinite depths of space. The night is a place of challenges, for the darkness tests all. Through our challenges and overcoming what we fear, we can become further empowered, as Lilith’s followers seek to continuously surpass themselves. She is the mistress of all hidden things and spiritual abilities, yet those who seek such things must prove their worth. There is much wisdom to be learned in the dark places, where the light cannot bring its blinding rays or any sense of security. The Seeker must be alone, facing their own self as they traverse the unfamiliar terrain.
Her enn (for meditation or devotion): Renich Viasa Avage Lilith Lirach
Specialties: Due to her great power as a highly evolved goddess, Lilith is able to help with nearly anything, if she agrees to it. However, some things she specializes in include the process of inner-alchemy, spirit senses, magick, divination, teaching dark wisdom, hidden things, lunar secrets, dark psychology, shadow work, poisons and poisonous plants, mysteries of death, romantic love, fidelity in romance, self-empowerment, development of beauty and charm, retribution upon the cruel, teaching how to overcome adversities, healing from traumas and depression, self-love, developing more endurance and resilience, and development of other forms of inner-strength. One of the things Lilith will always refuse to help with (besides acts of cruelty) is assisting in love magick, the kinds which force someone to be attracted to you. She teaches that this is not love, but a mind-domination placed on a person to restrict their free-will and violate them.
Offerings: Red wine, pomegranate juice, cherry juice, rose tea, rose-petal black tea, dark chocolate, chili chocolate, liquor-filled chocolate, pomegranates, goat meat, chicken hearts, Midnight Dahlia perfume, Fiore del Dragone perfume, silver rings with garnet, black heart-shaped lockets, gothic rose cameo necklaces, snake armlets, black/silver teardrop earrings, red roses, dead red roses, belladonna, garnets, black onyx, rubies, obsidian, silver chalices, dark masquerade masques, swords, daggers, snakeskins, snake bones, black silk (to cover altar), black antique plumed fans, red or black candles, elegant hand-held mirrors (silver), obsidian mirrors, tears cried after overcoming an ordeal, devotional poetry, her sigil made from sterling silver, snake figurines, spider figurines, black sphinx statue. Incenses: rose, oud + rose, Queen of the Night + rose

Noragami: Bishamon- the Archetypical Warrior Mother Goddess
Bishamon or Bishamonten from “Seven Gods of Fortune” in Shintoism is the typical “strong woman” trope character in a Shonen anime called Noragami: she is angry, she is beautiful and conveniently buxom for fans to drool over her. Termed by Yato as “ugly broad” Bishamon is fierce and coarse. However, she is not only that: she has a caring and nurturing side which almost caused her demise once and put her in danger over and over again. So this is my take on Bishamon and why she is the Eastern archetype of “Warrior Mother Goddess” instead of her Shinto persona.
Tumblr media
First of all, let’s look what Bishamon actually is in the Classic Shinto religion.  In Japan, Bishamonten (毘沙門天), or just Bishamon (毘沙門) is thought of as an armor-clad god of war or warriors and a punisher of evildoers. Bishamon is portrayed holding a spear in one hand and a small pagoda in the other hand, the latter symbolizing the divine treasure house, whose contents he both guards and gives away. His (because Bishamon is a male in Shintoism) legend derives from the Hindu Demigod “Vaisravana” or “Son of Vishrava”, who is known as Kubera the God of wealth. Both Vaisravana and Bishamon are associated with material fortunes and Bishamon is really a fierce version of Vaisravana, a well-fed, content and rather gluttonous demigod.
But how a god like Bishamon gets transferred in Noragami to a woman? It could be a design choice by Adachitoka to create a contrasting female character who could meet Yato in a more Godly plane. But I can see some clear Hindu influence in Bishamon’s design. She is inhumanly beautiful, fierce, perfect body and with rapunzel length hair. Her design is very similar to the Warrior Goddess Durga. In the “Meditation of Durga” she is described as
“the one with great length-ed dreadlocks in her head...whose face is beautiful like the full moon, whose complexion is as fair as flax seed flower...whose beautiful teeth sit on her full lips, whose full breasts hold the elixir of immortality*-- (Meditation of Durga, verse 1-3)
The physical description of Durga has uncanny similarity with Bishamon. the Goddess is also called “nabayouvana sampannang, sarbabharana bhushitang” (who is young and clad with fantastic jewels). Bishamon may be young and beautiful but she does not wear any eastern jewels: she is rather clad with her regalias posed as weapons, navigation and clothes; thus it isn’t far off.
Tumblr media
It is not only the superficial physical appearance that are similar with Durga and Bishamon; they also share some character similarities. The traditional Bishamonten is not known to have a mount or Divine Familiar, Bishamon in the anime on the other hand does a divine familiar in the form of mount: Kuraha, who takes the shape of Lion and can travel in the air. This is an iconic similarity with Durga, whose divine mount is a lion. In “hymns of Gandhesvari” Durga (or her Gandhesvari form) is described as “Simhasta” (the one who rides a lion). Durga is also known as “Simha vahini” (she whose vehicle is a lion). The Bishamonten is known to carry only one weapon, a spear, but Bishamon in Noragami has or carries multiple weapons because she has multiple regalia. In the “Meditation of Durga” the goddess is known to carry a goad, bow and arrow, executioner’s sword, discus, conch, mace, shield, rosary and the trident. Bishamon too carries multiple weapons: whip, guns, knife long machete etc, just like Goddess Durga herself. One part of Durga’s weapon is “Aveda barma” or the “impenetrable armour” forged by the ironsmith of the Gods, Vishwakarma (the forger of the universe). Bishamon wears a full blown armour by her regalia Aiha when the Ebisu-crisis occured and she had to journey to underworld.
Tumblr media
Now, in the parallel of two warrior goddesses who seem to be far from society’s idea of ideal femininity, where does the nurturing part fit? According to the Hindu mythology Durga is only a fragment of the ideal femininity: the rightful rage of “Adi Shakti” (Ancient Energy), the Female mother goddess. (Excuse my jargon) in the “Durga Saptashati” of Rigveda, the Goddess is described as “mother of all creation” (verse no 3) and at the same time she is described as “creator, sustainer and destroyer of the world” (verse no 4) of which she is the Mother. Bishamon has an extensive collection of regalia: she does not discriminate who is weak or who is useful, she takes everyone in as her own according to Noragami Wiki:
“She willingly accepts any wandering and troubled spirit, useful or not, and adds them to her family. “
She and her Shinkis live in Takamagahara which is the universe on its own, so she is the guardian and mother of her Shinkis in a way. Takamagahara is situated in a place which has golden hued galaxy as the backdrop of the sky. The form of Durga which alludes to the primeval Female Goddess is called “Bhuvaneswari” (she, whose body is the universe). The shinkis or regalias derive strength from her divine existence and they exist in a palpable form because of her. It again alludes to “Devi Suktam” (the introduction of the Goddess) where is has been mentioned:
“ I am the Queen of the Universe; I give wealth to those who worship me. I am the all-knowing one and the prime one among the worshippable deities. I enter many bodies as the Soul, taking various forms and with different manifestations, in various ways. ... That one who eats food, who sees, breathes, and hears whatever is said, he does all that only through me (my powers). Those who do not understand me, die. “ --(Devi Suktam, verse 4 & 5)
The sense of being center of the universe has brought a tremendous sense of loss and grief to the goddesses in many occassion. In the myths, when Goddess Parvati (the calm version of Durga) loses her child Ganesha, she assumes her rageful spirit again to destroy the universe that has taken her child from her. Bishamon has faced tremendous sense of loss and grief when she lost her “Ma” clan due to the malefic thoughts of the Shinkis--an action which blighted her tremendously. She too assumes a vengeful spree towards Yato, who allegedly slaughtered her “Ma” clan.
In short Bishamon is a great representation of motherly strength in anime field: the term “mother” often evokes a sense of tenderness, security and comfort, but it has been proven in the ancient myth that bringing life into the world and the sense of protectiveness towards life is the most powerful energy of all: it can make an break everything in existence and when the motherly tenderness is challenged it can manifest in one of the most destructive forces in the world. Thus the “ugly broad” “stern powerhouse” persona is only skin deep. The essence of Bishamon is far greater and more empowering.
* In ancient India, full breasts of a woman, which are swollen with milk was granted as a symbol of motherly power, nourishment and comfort. A woman with moderate breast size or small breast size were considered equally beautiful. In fact talking about sexuality in religious and secular discourses by scholars and sages were acceptable. It has no sexual connotation whatsoever. Please don’t perverse it in any sense.

Kyuzo/Phatrong Headcanon Masterpost
I created a post similar to this on my main blog @kyuzan-queen years ago and wanted to give it a refresh!
Included in this post:
Kyuzan biology (does include NSFW elements) Culture: Clothing, Music/Art, Religion, Familial culture, Politics, and life of Phatrong
Kyuzoni biology:
The Kyuzo are an omnivorous (carnivorous-leaning) reptilian species. They sport a mouthful of sharp fangs and a long tongue. While they are reptilian, they are warm blooded and do not lay eggs. Because of Phatrong's inconsistent weather, Kyuzo evolved to be able to maintain and regulate their own body temperatures. Their bodies can accept a shift in temperature of about 20 degrees Fahrenheit before it starts to affect them. They, like cold-blooded reptiles, do enjoy sunning/basking. It's good for their mental health and other bodily processes!
Kyuzos also evolved to carry pregnancies and give live births, also because of the weather. The process of Kyuzan pregnancy is awkward and painful, though, and mortality rates for mothers are quite high.
Kyuzo skin is rough, but not scaly like Trandoshans. Skin colors can range anywhere from green, to yellow, to blue and in between. However, those who are purely yellow or blue have a common pigmentation disorder. Their health is not negatively affected because of this, although people might treat them differently depending on where they live.
All Phatrongi Kyuzo are born with honeycomb eyes, that can be any color. Their eyes tend to glow in the dark, and they can see in the dark better than most humanoids.
Other than having slightly wider hips, cis females are very similar to cis males. Cis females do not have breasts or any noticeable secondary sex traits. While cis males tend to be a bit taller and wider framed, its not uncommon for cis females to have those traits, and vice versa. Intersex Kyuzo are common. Gender is very fluid among the Kyuzo, as parents tend to raise their children without a defined gender; when the child is of age, they get to decided what their gender is. Thus, being trans or nonbinary is prevalent.
The Kyuzo can be up to 7′6″ tall, with most falling in the 6′ to 6′6″ range. They tend to have larger frames than humans but are considerably more agile.
The weakest part of the Kyuzo is their lungs; if there is too much moisture in the air, they can easily contract pneumonia. Too little oxygen in the air and they’ll suffocate. Thus the reason they wear masks off planet.
Kyuzo, beyond that, are an incredibly hearty species that can live upward of three hundred years. After reaching sexual maturity at around young adulthood, their aging slows down. Whatever kills them before old age is usually attributed to their lungs or more physical means. They can contract other diseases, but they are usually nonfatal. Usually.
They have an amazing amount of stamina and can run at speeds that are hard for most humanoids to attain. They, unfortunately, have high pain tolerances and a hard time receiving fatigue messages to the brain, and this generally spells out problems. Kyuzos have been known to run themselves to death - literally. It’s not uncommon for families to find the bodies of missing members hundreds of miles away from where they were last seen. They have to make a very conscious effort to stop, or they won’t.
Kyuzo are much stronger than other humanoids, and can jump higher. Most outsiders confuse them as force sensitives for this reason. Kyuzos can be Force-sensitive, but it's rare to find Kyuzo Jedi.
Kyuzan cocks are long, with a tapered head. Most cocks have ridges or nodes on the top that would expand when inside a Kyuzan pussy. These nodes would help to anchor the cock inside. However, when fucking a near-human, these nodes/ridges tend to only work as extra sensation against the g-spot and a-spot.
Culture:
Clothing:
Most feminine presenting Kyuzo wear headwraps/headdresses. Other than displaying wealth and covering cold heads, there isn’t much of a reason that they wear the headdresses. It’s not required, but most feminine presenting people wear them because they grew up seeing other feminine presenting people wearing them. If one is wealthy, their headdresses will tend to be large and elaborate; it’s not uncommon for one to wear a headdress that is pounds upon pounds of metals, jewels, and cloth. Poorer feminine presenting people generally just wear cloth, or nothing at all.
Kyuzoni clothing is colorful and flowy; people wear very similar clothing, no matter what gender they are. Dresses and skirts are very common, and people will generally go topless. While most colors are okay to use, there are certain colors that are not used in everyday clothing, such as purple, light blue, gold, and white; the Kyuzo place sacred meaning in some colors, so they are only supposed to be used for special events.
Phatrong’s army/police force wear loose, non-restricting clothing with a leather-like armor covering their chests. Their family’s crest is painted upon the armor, in case that the warrior is killed in action. Their clothing is trimmed in gold, which represents bravery and wisdom.
Light blue cloth, specifically headwraps or shirts, signify that a wedding is approaching. Purple is a wedding color, as it signifies prosperity and commitment; wedding clothes are trimmed with silver. White is only used for funerals or births, as it signifies both death and the innocence of new life.
Music/Art:
Music on Phatrong generally revolves around stringed instruments and percussion instruments; they don’t generally listen to music for leisure. Music is only played at festivals, and generally tells the stories of ancient heroes and gods. The Kyuzo also create dances to these story-songs, to make things more dramatic.
Art varies around Phatrong. By the oceans, it’s mostly glass-work like beads and giant stained glass windows. Those Kyuzo that live by the rivers create pottery. Richer families will paint large murals that will cover the walls of their homes. These murals tell tales of their gods, but more often than not they are used almost like photographs that capture small moments in the lives of the family. Jewelry making is also common.
Religion:
The Kyuzo believe in a polytheistic system; the most prominent goddess is Vohaoya (Vo-ha-oy-ah), the mother of the gods and creator of worlds. She represents women, fertility, life, and nature; she is described as having a mostly Kyuzoni appearance, with three eyes and four arms. Often, she is shown in art or statues sitting cross-legged, cradling Phatrong in her lap; her arms are either pointing toward the sky, or she is making gestures with her hands. Her bottom arms are often portrayed as laying flat against her legs with palms upturned - this relays openness. Her left top arm is often resting on the planet, which portrays her protective nature. And her right top arm is often pointed upward, her pointer finger curling in toward her palm while the rest of her fingers are outstretched; this is a symbol of love for the Kyuzo. Her statues are mostly made out of gold, but are painted with the likeness of galaxies; some people swear that the stars shift in the right light.
Other more minor deities include Ixpi, the goddess of peace, and her brother Echting, the god of war. Because the Kyuzo like to believe that they are a peaceful race, Echting is often described as a villain. Ixpi is described as a small, rainbow-colored being that floats rather than walks; besides being the goddess of peace, she is also a patron of happiness, sunrise, and the LGBT community on Phatrong. Echting is also the god of destruction, mayhem, and storms; he is often described as a fiery being too bright to look at. He is surrounded by lightning and is easily angered.
There are temples, wherein these gods can be worshipped. The temples are all large and ornate, made usually of marble or wood. The temples for Vohaoya and Ixpi are run exclusively by priestesses, and though men can worship there, men cannot serve the goddesses. Men can work at the temples of Echting, but not many do, given the god's bad reputation.
Legend has it that Vohaoya created the Warriors of old to protect the gods from those that wished to harm them. They were created from the rich soil, and they were considered divine beings. In the modern era of Phatrong, it is still considered one of the highest honors to be a Warrior.
Life on Phatrong:
The Kyuzo tend to live in large villages or the few small cities around the planet; those who are born into the more obscure villages often never leave the villages.
Villages are generally comprised of thousands of people, all of which are extended family members. Separate families can have more than twenty-five members, all living in one house. Villagers take turns tending to the communal farm, which produces most of their food and fibers for clothing; to supplement the farm, they also forage, hunt, and fish.
Village born Kyuzo are very secluded, only working with neighboring villages to marry off their children. Because of their seclusion, they are the more suspicious and less educated than their city counterparts. Knowledge is passed down through the generations as those born in the villages don’t have access to teachers. At most, they know Kyuzoni and basic math: they are instead taught more practical skills, like sewing, cooking, cleaning, and animal husbandry.
There are two ‘real’ cities on Phatrong, Shutalo and Shouji; Shutalo (Shoo-tah-loh) is the capital city, to the north. Shouji (Show-zhee) is a large industrial city in the southern hemisphere. Any outside trade is limited to these two areas.
Kyuzo that live in the city tend to have smaller families, with about six members at the most. The Kyuzo in the cities have actual jobs, but they don’t make money; they are given items of use instead. (Think of bartering, almost. If they work at a textile store, they are given cloth, which can then be traded for food, etc.) Villages that have produced too much food or are in need of other items will sell food to the city folk.
City Kyuzo have better access to education, although it’s still not the best in the galaxy. Most city Kyuzo learn things like writing, higher levels of math, and an objective look on the planet’s history. Kyuzo that wish to learn beyond that must travel off planet.
It’s extremely difficult for Kyuzos to speak Basic, just because Kyuzoni and Basic are so different. It can take years and years just to get the verbal language down, and that doesn’t count how long it takes for them to learn to read Aurebesh. If the Kyuzo do manage to figure out how to speak Basic, they have thick accents that are often hard to understand, thus making them vulnerable to mockery.
Politics:
Politics on Phatrong are strange as the government actually doesn’t do much. The senate, located in Shutalo, is a group of Kyuzo (and a few Kataline) from various villages and cities that are there to set basic laws so that they can have a seat in the Council of Neutral Systems. Really, the various villages will set their own rules, and as long as it doesn’t interfere with the senate, they’re generally alright with it. (A law would include: Murder is punishable by death. But their definition of murder is loose and up to interpretation.)
Kyuzo children (generally young men but it’s not limited to males) learn to fight from the moment they can understand. The Kyuzo, although a generally ‘peaceful’ race, train their children to become a quasi-army/police force. The most promising fighters are then shipped off to various academies around Phatrong to train with masters to hone their skills. Many children, as a result of poor quality of life at the academies and dangerous fighting practices, end up dying. It is rare that the academies are punished. The children that make it then must complete a three-year stint as an active warrior; those who passed but are not necessarily promising are sent to protect sacred temples. Those who show a certain level of finesse can continue to climb the ranks until they are high-ranking military officials. They act more like a police force than a military, but they have the training just in case.
Marriage and Family Life:
Kyuzo children are often promised to each other at birth; throughout their childhoods, they get to meet and connect with their betrothed. They generally marry at eighteen, with a week-long festival preceding it. Certain wives -ones that are ordained from birth by priestesses- are considered sacred embodiments of the Goddess Vohaoya, and are limited to bearing five children; superstition says that having too many children will thin out the wife’s existence. Daughters are vitally important to carry on their mother’s bloodline.
Because Kyuzo value large family, a husband will take a wetzandi as well; a wetzandi, or birth maid, is a younger woman who births the rest of a man’s children. A wetzandi is someone who is generally caught bedding out of wedlock, or has committed some other small crime against the goddesses. Unfortunately, they are not valued by most, and are treated as little more than breeding stock.

Of Legends, Fairy Tales and Folklore
AKA A MariBat, Ever After High inspired AU
In the World there are certain stories that are universally known. They're known as Legends or Fairy Tales. Every knew the big stories; The Classics of Grimm Tales - Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Goldilocks and the Three Bears etc etc. They even created a new celebration for such stories; Legacy Day. It was a rare event that everyone wished to see; the day the Stories and Legends pledged to follow their story to the tea, no games, no divergence, a perfect recreation through and through. But there were other Legends that began to emerge like those of the Miraculous; The Miraculous were items blessed by the gods of the universe and they always played out the same stories. The Ladybug and the Black Cat would always retrieve the stolen Butterfly, it was always stolen back from the guardians after. The Ladybug would recruit other heroes to aide in their journey and become the next Guardian. The Ladybug and the Black Cat would get together and live their happily ever after.
However people were often unaware of the Folktales- divergent stories that took a split with each incarnation. They began with the story of Bruce Thomas Wayne, an aristocratic boy who lost those dear to him at a young age. His story should have ended that day, he would live his days reclused in his castle, never to see the light of day... However that was not how his story went. He took his mourning and channeled it to create a new Legend. He became the  Batman, a champion against the evil of the world to ensure no one would be destined for a tragic ending. Then came Richard John Grayson.  The day his world came crashing he was destined to become the Talon, a weapon for the Court of Owls and Gotham’s dirty aristocrats; Bruce saved him from a miserable ending and the story of Robin was born. Batman and Robin became folktales; to show that not everything was set in stone, that there were multiple paths to a single beginning. Jason Peter Todd, Timothy Jackson Drake and Stephanie Brown all took on their own incarnations and versions of Robin; each unique in their own way but maintaining their mission to rid the world of its tragic endings that were deemed to be destiny. Along the way came the tales of Batgirl, Batwoman, Black Bat, Spoiler and Signal.
Damian Wayne-al Ghul was one such spirit who was saved. His destiny was to become the ultimate weapon for his family. A culmination of the greatest of the world. When he was at his perfect state he would become the vessel for the Demon. His destiny would not be kind. The story of Batman and Robin were what brought him hope, the small amount he allowed himself. When he finally left the dreaded compound, he was finally able to see that he didn't have to be a weapon for his grandfather. Thus the story of the Fifth Robin began.
Each person selected to be a Story or a Legend was born with a mark, one which would represent their role in the story. When they reached the age of 10 they would wake up to find a blank book, one which only they could read and could never be lost or destroyed. Marinette Dupain-Cheng did not know what to think when she saw the Ladybug mark over her heart, she ensured no one could see it as she knew it would be important for later in her life. The book that appeared when she was ten told her snippets of her story, she could never know too much lest she face unforeseen consequences.
"The young Ladybug was loved by all.... Ladybug knew what this moment meant, after all she knew since she was a little girl... The Ladybug and the Black Cat were loved by all, regarded as the best in history... She was abandoned by her friends, all quick to leave her for the next big thing... Ladybug knew she could not deny destiny... Ladybug fell for ..."
Marinette did her best to be a good friend, always accommodating, always compassionate and always willing to help her friends.... She never wanted to lose them. When she met Adrien Agreste she thought something clicked, as though he was her destiny to meet. She had felt the same when she met Chloe, Kim, Alix, Max, Nathaniel,(maybe Nino) but something felt different, something she could not place her finger on. The day she found a small black box in her bedroom she knew what it meant, after all she had known since she was a little girl. The day she met the small Kwami she could not help but think that she was hiding something, her eyes looked saddened before smiling and introducing herself.
As soon as Ladybug made an appearance on the rooftops along with Chat Noir everyone was talking about Legacy Day. The Parisians couldn't help but see when their Ladybug would finally announce their Legacy day. Everyone wanted their favorite heroes to get a reassure Happily Ever After.
The Folktales or Justice League , honestly they had no idea who came up with the name, did not know how much progress Ladybug's story had made. "No one truly knows how different each story of the Ladybug is" Diana, the Princess of Thymescara, and current Wonder Woman explained to Batman and Superman, a new folktale with unprecedented beginning, "My mother was once Ladybug, but to be the Ladybug there is always a price. Each and every one is cursed with a robbed happily ever after, a fact many ignore. My mother, after retrieving the Butterfly, was betrayed by her Black Cat; he wanted my mother to be his happily ever after, when she refused he murdered her, its how she was chosen to be Queen of Thymescara by the goddesses. Jeanne d'Arc was burned at the steak for refusing to sign the Storybook of Legends, they accused her of being a witch and of terrible crimes, that she had deceived them and was not the true Ladybug. Even those that signed did not live happy lives after the story was done... I can't help but want to save this Ladybug from the same ending"
Adrien Agreste was always told he was born for greatness. His mother and aunt said so the moment his cat mark came out. They wondered which tale would be his or if he and Felix would play their tale; The Twin Rings. He knew he would be getting his happily ever after so he put up with his father's ridiculous standards, the overbearing work and overly sheltered life. Someday, he knew, he would get to see the real world, make friends, he'd get his happily ever after. The moment he met Ladybug he knew it was heading for the right direction. Meanwhile Plagg is sure that Adrien is a cat but not his Black Cat. He of course can't really do anything about it and ever since his mother passed, Adrien's father locked up all their Books. Because Adrien technically knows they're in his father's safe its not considered lost so it can't reappear to him; he has no clue about his story but he thinks it’ll all play out in the end. Ladybug liked Chat Noir but she did not want him to be her happily ever after... she was beginning to doubt if she would even get one. The more time she spent as Ladybug, the greater her magic and her ability to read the past tales of Ladybug. They all began so grand and courageous but... the closer they got to the ending the more tragic she began to find them. Even those that signed the storybook of legend would eventually fail to protect the butterfly, thus the cycle continued. Tikki does eventually confess about the thing with Ladybugs and Marinette isn't surprised, its actually something all Ladybugs end up realizing and just strive forward with it. A few did try to change the story but by that point it was too late; Tikki has hope Marinette still has time to change or decide to stick with the story. With the introduction of "Lila Rossi", the supposed granddaughter of the one Pied Piper of Hamlet and Ermellina, not to mention she was destined Fox of the Miraculous; the Ladybug began to feel her friends move away... they no longer needed her. Or that was what she believed. As it turned out her classmates who had their own Book and story were aware of a wolf in sheep’s clothing who would try to destroy their stories. Many chose to play along with her, to see how it was possible for her to change stories while other stood firmly on their ground and had unknowingly allied themselves to the Ladybug, the test for their own stories.  What they don’t realize is that Lila's actually a Page Ripper, like a dream-eater except for stories, she lives off of or just enjoys destroying stories because she knows hers will end with her being stuck with a terrible ending, in her opinion. She refuses to realize that she only get the terrible ending because she began to destroy other stories. When she saw Marinette she recognized her as definite main character for a Story and began her vendetta against her At this point she already has Ryuuko, Viperion and Queen Bee as her permanent holders, she made a mistake of choosing Alya as the Fox (one her book warned about, and now Alya thinks its supposed to be for Lila.) In reality she has no clue who or if there is even a person who was meant to be the Fox in this version of the story or if she's just supposed to give it to whoever she deems worthy. The Kwami tell her not to worry about it and just choose allies she is sure about. She does eventually recruit other temporary holders but she’s unsure if she could trust them after Rena Rouge.  Everything began to change once more when they ventured to Gotham, the city of Folktales as it was home to the Batman. Their class had been enraptured by the newest story Lila had come up with, about convincing a story to finally follow their destiny and sign their storybook of legends, when she was called out for the fact that it was not her call to make... No one had to follow any so call destiny or story. "Do you not understand! Without the stories the world will fall apart!" she had yelled out
"And I believe you have no clue where you are. Here, no one has to follow their stories, everyone is free to make their own decisions and create their own version of their story" "And how would you know!" some angry yells began before he took out a book, it was a deep emerald green, easily mistaken for black at a glance, with golden details and cuffs, at the center was a ruby gem, in cursive the spine said 'Damian Wayne' where it once said Ibn al Xu'ffasch That was how the young Ladybug was introduced to the concept of Folktales and met the young Robin.
Selina Kyle, the Catwoman, knows that she at some point gains a protege but it should have happened some time ago (around the time one of her old friend’s passed away), she's not sure how she feels about that.  Marinette isn’t sure if she want to sign the Storybook of Legends, truly no one on her team is, but the Parisians are getting persistent. Even city officials are breathing down her neck and she can’t help but think of Jeanne.
Damian's story of Robin begins to transition into a weird mix about becoming a cat of some sort and of breaking a curse.
All anyone is sure of is that
The End is just the Beginning

SJ/M’s unacceptable and lazy usages of real world places/cultures
I’m aiming to make this the most comprehensive list of SJ/M stealing bits and pieces of world history and pretending like she came up with them. Feel free to comment down below or send an ask if you can think of anything.
The addition of adaptation of names from some real-world places is included either because of insensitivity (Hybern and Prythian) or mostly because SJ/M doesn’t try to represent any of the cultures she takes from.
Note that this post will keep getting updated as I discover more evidences of unacceptable usages of cultures. Also note that there is every possibility that some resemblances are purely accidental and/or unintentional. So take it with a grain of salt.
T/HRONE OF GLASS
- Most of the cultural activities mentioned in Tower of Dawn are rip-offs of Mongolian culture and seem to resemble the Dothraki from Game of Thrones very closely.
- Pagan holidays mentioned in the books:
Yulemas* is celebrated in Erilea despite there already existing an established religion consisting of 12 gods and goddesses.
Samhain* is a festival celebrated by Irish and Scottish people.
Beltane* is a festival celebrated historically in Ireland and Scotland.
- Nehemia is probably derived from the Jewish leader Nehemiah who helped rebuild Jerusalem. Instead of trying to work that into Nehemia’s narrative, SJ/M killed off Nehemia to serve a white woman’s narrative.
- Mycenae is a historical site in Greece.
- Illium is an actual Greek city as well.
- Ravi in KoA is named after a Hindi word which means “sun”.
- Strangely enough Ravi’s brother is named Sol after the Roman god of the sun.
- Suria, where Ravi is from, is also a synonym for sun in Hindi.
- Mab is from the story of “Queen Mab”.
- Maeve is a sexual goddess in Irish mythology who was actually raped. So making Maeve a rapist in the books was hurtful.
A/COTAR
- Nagas belong to Hindu/Indian mythology included in a book that’s clearly a very western fantasy and has little to no PoC representation.
- Illyrians were an actual indo-european tribe with close relations to modern day Albanians. S/JM is not the first person to feature them in her work but other authors have used versions of the name like “Illyria” by Shakespeare, “Ilirea” by Paolini, “Valyria” by GRRM etc. which are acceptable.
- Calan Mai is actually a celebration of spring in Welsh culture. As @gemorsedd put it so eloquently, SJ/M turned it into a festival about Tamlin being unable to control his hormones.
- Hybern is derived from the classic latin name of Ireland which is “Hibernia”.
- Prythian is a modified version of the ancient name of Britain “Prydain”. COINCIDENTALLY, Prythian VERY closely resembles the UK. It’s also possible that she plagiarised the name from Anne Bishop’s Daughter of Blood.
Note for further reading: Read @blakeseptember’s about why SJ/M was especially insensitive in including Prythia and Hybern in the ways she did: https://blakeseptember.tumblr.com/post/187088853587/hybern-as-ireland
- Bharat is actually the Hindi name for India which is mentioned in ACO/TAR. Not only is it mentioned that Feyre’s father was sailing to Bharat to trade in cloth and spices (which was exactly what British colonialists and traders did when they sailed to India), it’s also said, quite clearly, that Feyre’s mother died of Typhus while her cousin died of Malaria (IN BHARAT). By doing so SJ/M is blatantly promoting a very colonialist view of India.
The Malaria mention: “My mind was void, a blank mess of uselessness. Could it be some sort of disease? My mother had died of typhus and her cousin had died of malaria after going to Bharat. But none of those symptoms seemed to match a riddle. Was it a person?”
The Trade of cloth and spices: “I swallowed. ‘Eight years ago he amassed our wealth on three ships to sail to Bharat for invaluable spices and cloth.’”
- Myrmidons feature in A/COWAR. The Myrmidons is actually a nation from Ancient Greek mythology (led by Achilles in the siege of Troy).
- Harem pants which are worn in parts of South and Middle-east Asia feature in the books where they’re introduced into a court consisting of white people only.
- F/eyre’s floral tattoos are very reminiscent of mehendis which are very important to Indian, Arabic and North African cultures but it’s a trait given to a white woman here. Read this post.
C/RESCENT CITY
- Danaan is from Tuatha de Danaan (celtic mythology) / Danaans is another name for Greece in the Iliad, used interchangeably with “Argives” and “Achaeans”.
- Avallen is Avalon (the legend of King Arthur). Ruhn’s story also bears a very close resemblance to the legend.
- 6 point star = Star of David
- Lehabah = a word in Hebrew meaning "a flame" (להבה)
- Mount Hermon = an actual mountain place in the northern part of Israel.  In Hebrew: הר החרמון.
- SPQM’s full form is Senatus Populusque Midgard. Which is awfully close to the SPQR of the ancient Roman empire which is Senatus Populusque Romanus
- The river Tiber mentioned in CC is actually a Roman river.
- Midgard, in Norse mythology, is the home of mankind. In Norse mythology.
- Sandriel: Comes from the angel Sadriel, the angel of order. S/JM added an “n.”
- Orion “Hunt” A/thalar: First name is pretty obvious, Orion as in the hunter which is where his name “Hunt” comes from. Probably from the god Attar called Athtar in Southern Arabia. Attar is sometimes considered a storm god explaining his lightning powers, but also linked to the Morningstar aka Lucifer. No explanations are given regarding as to how the constellations of our world are the same as that of SJ/M’s fantasy AU.
- Shahar Daystar: From the dawn deity Shahar. Also linked to Lucifer.
- Jesiba Roga: A Croatian respelling of Baba Yaga. Jesiba Roga, is quite literally just a combination of Ježibaba (a figure closely related to Baba Yaga in West Slavic folklore) and Baba Roga (the Croatian version of of Baba Yaga).
- Danika Fendyr: Danika is a Slavic dawn deity. Fendyr comes from Fenrir a wolf in Norse mythology.
- Isaiah: Taken from Isaiah 14:12-15 which details the fall of Lucifer. It’s also easily accessible from Shahar’s Wikipedia page (which may imply that SJ/M uses Wikipedia for research and just steals/lazily incorporates whatever she finds along the way.)
12 “How you are fallen from heaven,
O [a]Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the [b]lowest depths of the Pit.
- Fury Axtar: Hunt is likely related to Attar or maybe even Ishtar or Ashtaroth. It’s unclear right now. Ishtar is sometimes linked to Lucifer as well. It’s possible that she’s named after the Furies in Greek mythology, deities of vengeance.
- Micah Domitus: Micah is a prophet in Judaism.
- Syrinx: A chimera in this book, a nymph known for her devotion to Artemis.
- Urd: The god of flame and shadow possibly the name comes from Urðr one of the three Norns in Norse mythology.
- Luna: A Roman moon goddess
- Cthona: “Chthonic”, in English, describes deities or spirits of the underworld, especially in Ancient Greek religion.
- Vanir: The Vanir are actually group of Norse gods.
- Asphodel Meadows: A section of the ancient Greek underworld where ordinary souls were sent to live after death.
- Hel: Hel is a goddess but also a location in Norse Mythology for the dead. Depictions of Hel depend on the source of the information. It’s strange that Hel and Asphodel Meadows belong in the same place, translating to lazy world building on SJ/M’s part.
- Midgard: In Norse Mythology basically the plane of existence of humans.
- Laconic Mountains: Named after Laconia the administrative capital of Sparta.
- Nidaros: Where Bryce grew up. It’s the ancient name of Norway’s capital when the Christian kings ruled. It’s now called Trondheim.
- Istros River: Taken from Istros of Ancient Greece
- Valbara: Taken from the super continent Vaalbara
- Pangera: probably Pangea, the huge supercontinent on which dinosaurs lived
- Crown of Thorns: In reality it’s a symbol of Jesus but in the book it’s branded onto the foreheads of angels who rebelled in a war some decades ago.
- Keres: Phillip Briggs’s terrorist gang is named after the Keres who are “goddesses who personified violent death and who were drawn to bloody deaths on battle fields.”
- Sailing: A Norse funeral custom for Vikings as seen in movies like How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Thor: The Dark World. Here’s more information on it, but it seems SJ/M got it wrong. Most Vikings were usually cremated and it was mostly used for Kings and Chieftains (Danika might fall into the Chieftain category).
- 33rd Imperial Legion: Could be a reference again to Jesus who was 33 at his death.
- The Ophian rebels (of which the the Keres rebels are a subgroup of) are named after Ophian, and elder Titan in Greek mythology.
Sources I’ve derived some facts from so far:
- Sapir Englard on Goodreads via @spaceshipkat’s tumblr post using Hebrew in CCity.
- @bittenwrath for basically everything in crescent city.
- @blakeseptember’s tumblr about Hybern’s origins.
- An anon dropped by with “Hel”
- @chenmighty and @tavithelibrarian pointed out the Illyrians.
- @sylphene and @omourningstar for Prydain
- @ok-boomer pointed out that Yulemas, Samhain and Beltain are all pagan holidays.
- @gemorsedd For pointing out Calan Mai
- An anon pointed out the Norns, Danaan and Avalon.
- @mimiofthemalfoys for the Bharat, malaria, typhus, spices and cloth mention.
- @kryingkardashianz for Danaans being another name of Greece and Myrmidions.
- an anon pointed out Nidaros
- @shurislut for mehendi and harem pants
- @sanktaalinaa for Jesiba Roga
- @croissantcitysucks for the Ophian Rebels

Hey bruh can we get an epic infodump about that BOTW au, because I am HERE for some self indulgent content, hit this niche Zelda/TAZ fan audience with that tasty au over here
i just woke up so this might not be too legible but :3333 also obviously spoilers for botw for ppl who haven’t played it and don’t wanna be spoiled
(most of it is under the cut though because WOW this got long akdnajfnsjf)
okay so taako is link and lup is zelda. instead of being a princess and knight they’re a king and queen co-ruling faerun. there isn’t really a king rhoam figure in this? like they don’t have a parent/guardian they pops up in the memories, it’s just them ruling the kingdom. when the prophecy came, they knew one of them was the royal with the goddess’ blood in them and the other would be the hero with the darkness sealing weapon. obviously both of them would have the same blood or whatever since they’re twins, but it comes down to who can properly wield the magic. as it turns out, lup is the magic twin and taako is the weapon wielding twin. their enemy, usually ganon, is instead the hunger.
there is still an old civilization of ppl with ancient technology, though i don’t really have a name for them, so i’ll keep calling them sheikah. BUT, there is a modern day group of people dedicating themselves to learning all they can about the sheikah technology in order to prepare for the return of the hunger. they are the institute of past research and exploration, IPRE for short. it is made up by the rest of the seven birds, among a few others.
the champions are davenport, merle, magnus, and barry. lucretia is kinda how she was in TSC canon, just sorta tagging along to write everything down, but that changes once they make the grand relics. speaking of, the light of creation replaces the master sword in this instance. it has the power to fight off the hunger, as well as take the shape of any weapon taako can imagine. that’s how we get the flaming raging poisoning sword of doom and the krebstar. but lup and barry, ever the scientists, are like “is there any way to… break the light into pieces? so more people get super powerful weapons against the apocalypse?” so they do
some of the relics are different, though. the philosopher’s stone doesn’t change things, but it changes itself, keeping that weapon-changing property of the original light. obviously, since it’s a seventh of what it used to be, it isn’t as powerful. but it’s still pretty damn powerful compared to the rest of the weapons in the world. the gaia sash is different too, adding healing on top of the plant magic. the animus bell basically makes undead armies instead of the soul switching magic from canon. basically, the relics’ powers are altered to better fit a combat situation. also they’re the gifts given to taako after the divine beasts (replacing urbosa’s fury/daruk’s protection/etc) so they would need a more combative/practical use. the healing part of the gaia sash is basically this au’s mipha’s grace akfnajfnsj
one relic in particular is interesting, and that’s the phoenix fire gauntlet. with lup’s struggle to unlock her powers, she created the gauntlet as a sort of conductor for magic energy. she’s incredibly proficient in normal magic (esp evocation) but this goddess magic is tricky to unlock, and it’s super frustrating. the other stuff came so easy to her, so why is this hard? unfortunately, the gauntlet didn’t help with that :-(
lucretia and her relic are also interesting in this au. as i mentioned in the ficlet i posted, she intended to use the bulwark staff to protect the champions, and she couldn’t, so she blames herself for everything that happened. obviously, it’s not her fault and i make myself sad thinking about her being sad T_T but as a result of this, plus a bit of good ol paranoia, she uses the bulwark staff to create a big bubble shield around phandalin (this au’s kakariko villiage) the rest of the IPRE live here (basically the BOB, so killian, carey, johann, etc)
i won’t go too into detail for the rest of the story, as it’s fairly similar to botw canon other than that, but some things to note are this: the divine beasts are different, so as to suit the champions better. magnus and merle have a bear and owl, respectively, but idk what’s for barry and davenport (definitely open to suggestions akdnajdns). also, the yiga clan is called the shadow brethren, because i love me a good amnesty reference. it’s leader is kalen, and he’s an actual threat to taako, unlike kogha. i’d imagine the brethren tie to magnus’ divine beast because kalen ties to his storyline. also, the gauntlet basically becomes the bow of light in this au, aka what taako uses to defeat the hunger once and for all
other characters to note are:
kravitz and the raven queen, basically purah and symin in the hateno ancient tech lab. they’re a mother and son duo, with TRQ living through the calamity and kravitz being born afterwards
lucas and maureen are in robbie and jerrin’s place as another mother-son duo in the same position as krav + TRQ; maureen lived through the calamity and lucas was born after
(everyone is basically human in this, or at least has human lifespans, so 100 years is definitely a long time for someone to live through. maureen and TRQ developed magic to prevent them from aging all those years. lucretia was the first volunteer to use this magic, but it kinda failed and instead only slowed down her aging. that’s why she’s her older self when taako wakes up.)
the goddess hylia is instead istus. not much changes there, she’s just the goddess everyone references akdnakdjs
yknow the characters that help link get to the divine beasts in canon? like sidon, riju, etc? they’re replaced by other characters depending on what relic taako is going after, and it correlates to canon. so when he’s going after davenport’s divine beast/the oculus, he meets angus. when going after the owl/gaia sash, he meets hurley and sloane. so on and so forth. though he DEFINITELY meets julia in refuge and she DEFINITELY does NOT have a crush on the hero of legend who piloted the bear divine beast 100 years ago ;)))))
differently from botw canon, taako actually develops a strong relationship with lucretia, who is pretty much impa with a different backstory. as he gets his memories back he realizes he had six incredibly close best friends and now five of them are gone, so he kinda gravitates to her when he’s with her
one more thing to note is that after taako defeats the hunger and lup is free, she combines the relics into the light and uses it to bring the dead champions back because FUCK death separating this family. lup “phantasmal and resplendent” adventurezone would never allow it. if her brother gets brought back from the dead, so do her friends and her husband, thank you very much
and that’s… basically it! i could go more in depth with the taakitz/blupjeans side of things, but this is long enough akfnskfnskfn but if anyone wants to know anything else i’m always open to talking about it :D

There are some interpretations going around about whether or not "the rape of Persephone" was a literal rape, regarding translations and what was considered acceptable at the time. I trust your historical knowledge and would appreciate your input. Thanks!
Oh Jesus Christ. Alas, I am aware of the inadvertent and depressing hilarity that results when the amateur historians of Tumblr decide to start The Discourse ™, as they do periodically, and the interpretations, as you put it, that result. I obviously also do support the practice of tackling mythology, reworking it, considering it in context, and trying to understand the culture, moral values, and ideas of society that it was supposed to represent, and whether and how that has changed for our own times (and if we should accept it if it hasn’t). The problem is that, to put it kindly, a lot of people on Tumblr are… not really qualified to do this, or at least should acknowledge their own limitations when doing so, rather than presenting their shallow and ideologically militant versions as Ineffable Fact. The academics have been arguing about all these things, since we argue about everything, and if you’re going to dip your toe into these discussions, you’ll have to recognize when, well, you are wrong. And as I have noted in recent political posts, Tumblr is historically Not Great at that.
As to the subject of Hades and Persephone specifically, I can myself do no better than point you to this excellent post by tumblr user @cthonisprincess, which I reblogged a while ago. It discusses many versions of the Hades and Persephone story in detail, treats the “problematic” aspects systematically, and quotes from a number of primary sources in terms of how their relationship was conceptualized by the culture to which it belonged, the power that Persephone has/had, and how Greek women themselves – rather than looking to Hera, the ostensible goddess of marriage, and her unhappy union with the chronically unfaithful Zeus – considered Persephone as the avatar of a powerful woman in a happy and faithful marriage. It also discusses the stories of how Persephone came to the Underworld, whether and if that should be understood as “rape” in a contemporary sense of the word, and if we, as modern feminists, should be comfortable with referring to/enjoying something still known as the “Rape of Proserpina” in most references. I get it. It’s… not entirely something you do with just a shrug and moving on.
However, there is ample evidence to demonstrate that to the culture in which Hades and Persephone were constructed and venerated, their relationship was loving, faithful, and considered worthy of emulation, and that Persephone was the actual scary one between the two of them. I was also just reading Emily Wilson’s translation of The Odyssey recently and was struck by the sheer agency of women in the plot; they’re basically the only reason that anything happens as they cart Odysseus’ prevaricating ass from place to place. Books 10 and 11 are largely concerned with Odysseus’ visit to the Underworld, where:
“First [Odysseus] must complete another journey,Go to the house of Hades and the dreadful Persephone, and ask the Theban prophet, the blind Tiresias, for advice.Persephone has given him alonefull understanding, even in death.”
When Odysseus actually gets to the Underworld, the first spirit he encounters is that of Elpenor, one of his crew members who has recently died. But after that, instead of the actual famous Greek warriors or mighty legends (although he meets Agamemnon, Achilles, etc later on), the next people he sees are his mother, Anticleia, and the wives and daughters of warriors:
Then in my heart I wanted to embracethe spirit of my mother. She was dead, and I did not know how. Three times I tried, longing to touch her. But three times her ghostflew from my arms, like shadows or like dreams.Sharp pain pierced deeper in me as I cried,
‘No, Mother! Why do you not stay for me?and let me hold you, even in Hades?[… ] But is this really you? Or has the Queensent me a phantom, to increase my grief?’
She answered, ‘Oh, my child. You are the mostunlucky man alive. Persephoneis not deceiving you. This is the rulefor mortals when we die.’
[…]
As we were talking, some women came, sent by Persephone –the daughters and wives of warriors. They thronged and clustered round the blood. I wantedto speak to each of them, and made a plan.
I’m not sure that Homer actually refers to Hades himself as having any part in this throughout the whole section, except geographically (as in Hades as a place/environment). Persephone is later on referred to as dispersing the ghosts of the women, after Odysseus has spoken to them all individually before he gets to any of the now-dead heroes of the Iliad. Which I think is… interesting, given the fact that the Odyssey is obviously one of the most famous of the Greek narratives/epic poems and everybody knew it long before it was ever preserved in a written form (see the long-running “is Homer actually one guy or just a dozen random Greeks in a trenchcoat” argument). So yes.
I obviously love Hades and Persephone a whole lot, my URL references them, most of my OTPs fall into a similar archetype, and I would love them no matter what the shrill hordes on Tumblr said. But in this case, frankly, their interpretations are bad, and they should feel bad. Make of it what thou shalt.

HUMA HCS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, this is going to be long and I don't think everyone thinks these ideas are good. But my readers will already know several of these. And these ideas are very diverse.
- Harry fell in love with Uma when he saw her fight. Seeing her smile and laugh while fighting was the beginning of his fall
- Uma is very good in melee fights. She knows how to slip away from her enemies.
- Concerning their privacy, Harry never touches Uma directly unless she permits him. He can do 99% of the approach, but she shortens the last distance.
- Uma won't admit it out loud. But she needs Harry's contact. He relaxes her.
- Uma and Harry are the parents of the crew.
- They are very protective. But Uma focuses more on providing them with security, food, clothing, training, among other things. Harry is very protective of them. If someone in the crew asked Harry to throw someone to the sharks. Harry would do it without asking. The majority of fights in which he has participated have been to protect or avenge someone in the crew.
- Harry has specialized in scaring people so that his simple presence is enough for anyone to no mess with the crew.
- Uma and Harry are incredibly protective of Gil.
- Harry is in charge of the crew's punishment if they misbehave. To the surprise of many, he uses a lot of 'Time Out'.
- Uma is in charge of the awards. Uma's approval is ambrosia for anyone.
- Harry isn't jealous that other people succumb to Uma's charm. Because it's inevitable.
- The responsible that Harry has such a big ego is Uma. When they are alone, she flatters him a lot. She doesn't say "I love you" but she says "You're too attractive for your own good." and things like that.
- Uma and Harry often talk about how attractive other people are and theorize what they would like. Type of kisses or what compliments would work to blush them, among other things.
- Uma likes Harry's broad arms and shoulders.
- In general, she likes muscles. No rough muscles, but firm.
- Harry and the majority in the crew know that. That's why they rarely wear sleeves.
- Harry may lose the thread of a conversation if he sees Uma's thighs.
- She knows it and usually uses that against him.
- Neither Uma nor Harry have thought about having blood descendants. But they would like to adopt. Technically, they have been doing it since they are teenagers and plan to continue doing that.
- For Harry, Uma is a Goddess.
- She really is one. No, not a demigod. No. A Goddess.
- For me, Ursula and Morgana are daughters of Anfitrite and Asopo. Yemayá is the other mother of Uma. Whoever has seen an image of Yemayá or knows about her myths, can see how incredibly similar Uma is to her.
- This explains why Uma is so powerful and has a human form, but she can be transformed. Uma quickly learns to use her powers, in an incredibly natural way.
- According to me: Who is Harry's mother? Oh well... Harriet and Harry's mother is Queen Narissa (the main antagonist of Disney's 2007 fantasy film Enchanted). And CJ's mother? Helga Katrina Sinclair from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
- For me, Queen Narissa is a warlock. She must make a contract with a superior being to use magic. That's why Harriet and Harry can't use magic immediately. But, you know, Harry could make a contract with a powerful being, a Goddess, for example. Already, he hears the call of the sea. The magic is there, it just needs to be free.
- Uma, deep down, is a cheesy one. She always seeks to secure Harry emotionally.
- Uma is full of details. She knows everyone's favorite food in her crew, their favorite colors, and what they fear, etc.
- Harry learned to swim with Uma and it was one of his best memories.
- Uma enjoys hard caresses. Strong massages. Bites. And things like that.
- Harry loves to slide the edge of his hook through Uma's skin. He would never hurt her, but Uma's skin shivers when she feels the edge of his weapon. He also likes to bite her.
- Uma enjoys hearing Harry sing, he is usually very inventive and easily changes the lyrics of the songs to invent stories.
- Harry was the first to realize that when Uma speaks, people tend to listen to her. And when she sings, everyone falls into her spell.
- Uma enjoys reading about important historical figures and their achievements.
- Harry is an astronomy expert. Also, he knows the name of the constellations from multiple cultures.
- Uma likes to hear Harry tells about pirate stories and legends about gods and sea creatures.
- Harry loves to get gold accessories from Uma. Goddesses wear gold.
- On one occasion, when Harry got sick, Uma thought he was cursed and tried to use true love kiss. It didn't work. She almost became depressed and questioned life. Luckily, someone explained to her that he was just sick.
- Harry often brags about the special treatment Uma gives him. He doesn't do it verbally, but he looks at everyone with pride when Uma treats him differently than the rest.
- Uma and Harry wear accessories and clothes that combine.
Gods, I see this is very long... I think I should continue on another occasion if you want more.
