#Emma swan is a badass all the time

No I can’t hold it in anymore. People who complain that Emma and Killian got boring after they got together (mainly season 5 and 6 and mainly Emma) are my biggest pet peeve.
Emma’s rough exterior was because she experienced a lifetime of trauma. She was constantly abandoned/cast aside by people she cared about. For 28 years she believed her parents gave her up, and for her entire childhood she was living in the foster system or on the streets. When she was still a literal child she was betrayed by a person she loved and was sent to prison pregnant where she sat in that trauma for eleven months without a semblance of justice. She was hardened at such a young age and as seen in the show, it manifested itself into impenetrable walls that made her closed off and snippy. Yes, she was a badass when she chopped down Regina’s apple tree and slammed that guy’s head into a steering wheel (he really deserved it). But many of her badass interactions were because of her walls that made her so closed off. She only had herself to rely on, so obviously all of the stunts she pulled looked so awesome because she only had herself and her strength that was created through years and years of trauma.
What’s cooler? A person scaling a cliff all by themself without help of any kind, or a person using ropes and a partner or many partners to achieve the same result? Many people would choose the first one. But what’s safer? The second. It may not look cooler, but there’s no doubt in my mind that the second person would feel completely safe with people to rely on. And then if you put yourself in that situation, you would choose help. Right?
Well when Emma realized that she had that help (mainly in season 4/5), she damn well took that help.
“The only one who saves me is me.” That quote has Emma coolness written all over it, but her tone of voice when she says “Hook” right before just shows how surprised she was that people- that HE actually came back to save her. AGAIN, no less. In New York, she looked genuinely surprised when he said “I came back to save you” because nobody had come back for her before. Absolutely nobody.
Emma is a badass and will always be a badass, but her hesitance to trust anyone and everyone makes her appear MORE badass because she only had herself. Then, she suddenly didn’t have to rely on herself anymore when she got closer to Killian (yes, she did have her parents before, but even then the only thing on her mind was to run far away and take Henry with her because it was safer. And because it was safer, she would have less fear about being put in a situation where she had to trust other people to do something that she previously only did for herself. ‘You want something done right, you have to do it yourself’)
AND THATS NOT EVEN COUNTING THE EMOTIONAL ASPECT.
Scenes where Emma opened up in season 1-most of 3 is like finding an emotional needle in a trauma infused haystack. She only opened up because she had to, and ‘had to’ most commonly meant ‘to get her son back’. She opened up about feeling like an orphan because she needed a magical map to find her son. She told Neal she wished he was dead because she had to unlock a cage, or else her son wouldn’t have a father, not because she wanted to. She didn’t want to face all the trauma he caused her, but she had to. She opened up to Henry in season 1 about a foster family giving her up because she couldn’t deal with how he was complaining about a family that she desperately wanted. It was a necessity for her to make Henry understand that his life was not unfair. (Though that was before Regina acted like a total bitch to her).
But then when she and Killian got together, or even just got closer to each other, she was opening up to him so much and it made her both more vulnerable, but also stronger emotionally, and being able to be emotionally vulnerable IS badass and such a big step for Emma. Compared to her in season 1, season 4 Emma wouldn’t even recognize herself because look at all the people she trusts and relies on. And not just her family, this random eyeliner-wearing-hook-for-a-hand dude who thinks she’s enough purely because she’s HER. The random dude who’s first priority is HER. Emma has never had that in her entire life. She has never been put first like that, and it must’ve been so amazing for her to be put first by a person who doesn’t need to do so because they’re family, but because she’s HER and he loves HER.
Flash forward to the end of season four, she sacrificed herself to the darkness and trusts the people who love and care about her to save her. THAT IS SO BIG FOR EMMA. THAT IS SO BADASS.
And I feel like the same people who believe that Emma and Killian got boring during and after these seasons neglect to realize that it was fricking traumatic. I always imagined the darkness as something that latches on to a person’s suffering and abuses it to their own agenda: to snuff out the light. (Which is exactly what it did to Killian). Emma had that darkness inside of her for the first half of season five and we all saw the tole it took on her. I know some people don’t like how Emma’s voice changed a bit, but that’s how a person who is empty sounds. She was tired and terrified and had to rely on Killian and her family to help her, and Killian was there for her at every step of the way and he helped get rid of the voice inside of her head.
Yes, Henry has always been a rock in her life, but in that season Killian was a fortress that she could lock herself away in and feel safe and loved during a time where she was constantly reliving her suffering.
And then she loses that fortress. One minute he was standing there with the utmost support and the next he was on the floor dying and she was so terrified of losing him that she turned him into the one thing he was desperate to destroy. And then she has to live with this internal conflict of lying to him to preserve the man she loves because she knows he would hate her for doing that to him. But of course she doesn’t want to lie to him, but she doesn’t want to lose him either because she won’t know how to go on.
That changes a person, and I think because OUAT is a magical show, there’s a tendency to downplay the trauma characters go through because it’s magical and it couldn’t happen in real life. It’s difficult to put yourself in the character’s shoes because it requires a lot of imagination to do so. Emma has spent months creating a relationship with Killian. She’s opened herself up in ways that she has never done before and suddenly he’s ripped away from her emotionally because the darkness took control over him, but she was so terrified of losing him that she settled for his physical presence.
That is so fucking traumatic. And because Emma is starting to completely open up, it hurts so much more because she doesn’t have walls to protect her.
And then she has to kill him, and he dies in her arms. The person she’s grown to love and care about dies in her arms and the amount of guilt and sorrow she felt clearly crushed her as seen in the scene of her lying on the couch, holding the ring he gave her, in what was supposed to be the place where she and Killian would live together- the life she wanted so much that she turned him into a dark one to keep him with her. And dark one Killian said a lot of messed up stuff to her (let’s be honest he was self-projecting) that definitely affected her.
Then she finds out that Killian’s entire death was for nothing so she goes back to save him. And she sees the torture and pain he endured because she made him a dark one and that guilt is probably so crushing, and amplified by the fact that she dragged her entire family down here including her son to save him because she was so desperate to see him again.
But when she finally has him back, it’s realized that he can’t go back to the living. She will never get to have that life with him that she wanted and it crushed her.
Yes, at the end of it all, she gets him back in the graveyard, but all of that trauma doesn’t go away.
In no way shape or form should Emma be the same exact person she was after living through that. In no way shape or form should she be EXPECTED to be the same snappy-comeback-armor wearing-badass she used to be because of that emotional and physical trauma she went through.
She is not boring because she relies on other people, and she’s not boring because she’s showing exhaustion or being less ‘badass’ than she used to be. The girl needs a break. She needs a break from the constant bombardment of villains and curses and trauma and in those little moments when she’s alone with Killian, she gets that break and it’s seen every time she smiled and her eyes soften at him. That’s her being happy, not boring. I would so much rather have Captainswan be happy and ‘boring’ than ‘badass’ and severely traumatized because haven’t those guys been through enough?
I didn’t even get to Killian who could fill the ocean with his trauma , but honestly most of the boring comments I’ve seen are directed towards Emma and it makes me so mad because she needs to REST. So what if Killian isn’t as flirty as he was in early seasons. it’s a mask, it’s clearly been a mask since the beginning and he finally has a person who loves him because he’s him (Emma) and a family and basically a brother (David). I for one think that pirate deserves to rest after living in darkness for hundreds of years. And I think he’s been plenty flirting. Uh, pancakes???????? Let the man have a break.
But does this make anyone else mad? Is it just me? I hope it’s not me.

What happened to Emma Swan? DEBUNKED
Ever so often the Swan Queen fandom gets it in their heads to try & tear down Emma Swan's look and character development simply because she married a man… a man who treated Emma far better than their Queen. Their arguments prove that they lack the will to understand the writing as they blatantly twist canon to fit their narrative.
"What happened to season one Emma Swan? She went from happy to miserable because of Killian Jones" - Regina Apologists
This is a prime example of how Regina Apologists are so dishonest. The two pictures on the left are promotional shots from the show. The two pictures on the right are moments from Season 6 when Emma is in distress. The first image she is watching her parents sacrifice themselves for the good of Storybrooke (while Regina, who is at fault, does nothing). The second one is when Emma was having visions of her own death. These instances have NOTHING to do with Killian Jones! However, I can find plenty of times when Emma was in distress due to Regina Mills!
I have found so many examples of them pulling this crap. I would be here all day screen capping their dishonesty.
The truth: Emma Swan wasn't happy in Season 1 & that Emma wasn't the real Emma
Yes, you heard me. Season 1 Emma wasn’t the real Emma. The real Emma was hiding behind an armor of red leather jackets, fake eye-lashes and a chip on her shoulder to keep everyone at arms length. She put on a tough bravado as an armor to protect herself from the world because she'd been hurt too many times.
But as a time passed, Emma needed less and less armor. She became more trusting and more open to love, family and happiness. When she shed that armor she let herself be more vulnerable. She became more caring toward others. Which is about the bravest thing you can do.
The more and more we saw Emma opening up to love the less armor she used. And the less armor she used, the more we hear from the Anti-CaptainSwan crowd that...
How do you go from THIS to this??? - Regina Apologist
GASP! A woman didn’t put on a bunch of make up & doll herself up for you SO SHE MUST BE MISERABLE & has no agency because she’s at the mercy of everyone!!!
Imagine degrading a woman for not wearing make up or curling their hair? You have got to be kidding me.
Also, if you really believe this, then you should be looking more favorably on Killian Jones. He obviously loved Emma for who she was and not how much make up she is wearing unlike like you fools.
Never mind that once again they grab a screen cap of when Emma is going through a tough time...and why is she going through a tough time? BECAUSE OF REGINA MILLS! Yeah, Regina's other half is trying to hurt her parents and possibly kill everyone all because Regina can't stop wanting to be evil!
The Truth: Killian Jones made Emma Swan happy
It's literally in her wedding vows. And you can see it on her face whenever she looks at him. Killian Jones helped her trust in love and not be afraid of the future.
The truth: Regina is the cause of 99% of Emma's problems
I've seen Regina stans try to say that Emma looked miserable during her vows but they fail to actually listen to what she is saying. She is not only fighting tears but when she looks away, apparently sad, she is remembering her life before Henry. She is thinking about when Henry came to get her which wasn't a happy time at all really. She was thinking about what Regina did to her and her family.
But she looks at Killian with all the happiness in her heart.

I love how they continue to use promo shots and bts pictures.
It’s like the Anti-CaptainSwan crowd believes that there is only one way to be a strong woman: having a chip on your shoulder, being sarcastic to everyone, never needing anyone (especially a male) and being single (unless its w|w). They just don’t like the fact that Emma not only chose her own path but fights for everyone and not just their precious queen.
I have actually heard Rumple stans call Emma a Stepford wife as well because she chose Hook over Rumple's cowardly son Neal. Which is just hysterical since Belle is literally a Stepford wife. She ignores all of his abuse, his bad deeds and his manipulation and stays with him.
The Truth: Emma Swan was still a badass after getting together with Killian Jones:
S4 taking down dragon Lily
S4 telling grumpy to back off before she turns him into stumpy (hey you thought sarcasm was badass? there you go!)
S4 taking on the darkness to save the town
S4 defeating Cruella to save Henry
S5 going up against Nimue
S5 confronting Rumple about him being the Dark One again
S5 doing what she had to do and knowing she had to destroy Dark Hook
S5 telling Regina to fix her own damn problems for once cause Emma was done doing it for her
S6 going up against Wish Hook.
S6 going up against the Serum Queen
S6 sacrificing herself for Gideon and destroying the dark fairy
Furthermore, if Emma was that dependent on Killian Jones then she would not have left the Underworld without him. But she did leave him for the sake of Henry and others who needed her.
DEBUNKING MYTHS
Emma is complex but SQers fail to accept Emma’s evolution because it didn’t involve her becoming Regina’s doormat in every aspect of her life.
I know it's hard for Regina Mills stans to spot character growth, since their queen didn't have one, but Emma Swan and Killian Jones are where the most character growth happened. They evolved into much better people as the series came to a close.
Here are some things I've seen when talking about Emma's evolution or about her being worse off with Killian Jones than she would have been with Regina or Neal. And lets be real here, Emma was worse off with Regina as a friend. That is just a fact.
THEY NEVER ACKNOWLEDGE REGINA'S TRUE ROLE
I will see them talk circles around Regina's role in Emma's life to avoid putting blame where it should be and that is directly on Regina Mills. They will say things like "The Charmings abandoned Emma" but The Charmings didn’t just abandon Emma. THEY SAVED HER LIFE with the hope that Emma would return to save the entire kingdom FROM REGINA. Regina was going to murder infant Emma.
They will also go on about how Killian and Emma were enemies at first. Killian Jones was never as much of an enemy to Emma like Regina Mills was. Regina emotionally and physically hurt Emma and destroyed her life.
MYTH: EMMA WAS ONLY AT HER BEST IN SEASON ONE OR WITH REGINA
As mentioned above, they prefer closed off and alone Emma. However, Emma was at her best when she let down her walls & allowed herself to love. A heart full of love is beautiful. But love to Regina apologists only looks like Emma bowing to Regina. Well. Emma was closed off, negative, sarcastic & willing to overlook all of Regina’s shit for the sake of Henry. Allowing someone to put you down the way Emma allows Regina is NOT someone at their best.
Emma at her best understands sacrifices for the greater good, forgiveness, mercy & the strength of love. That was Emma during all 7 seasons. Actually, Emma showed Regina way too much mercy (Rumple too, in fairness).
MYTH: EMMA WAS FORCED TO CHOOSE HOOK
Anyone who says that Emma was forced to be with Hook because Killian & her parents "pressured her" or "made her" is hating Emma Swan. This is a bunch of fanon nonsense & not canon. No one was forcing Emma. You can’t point to a single scene or dialog that suggests that. Quite the opposite in fact.
You don’t fight for something as hard as Emma fought for her happy ending if it’s not what you want. Remember that Snow & David were against saving Hook in Camelot. They were more concerned about Emma. Hell, Killian Jones was more concerned about Emma's future than living! He wanted her to choose her life over his! It was Emma’s idea to go get Hook in the Underworld & everyone was against it at first (cause who just walks into the Underworld??). If Emma's parents were pushing her towards anyone it was Neal. So, no, no one was forcing Emma to be with Hook. When Charming gives his blessing to Hook he says that the final decision is up to Emma.
If you truly believe that Emma was forced to be with Hook then you don't understand Emma Swan. Emma didn't do anything that Emma didn't want to do. Remember when Emma was dead set on running back to New York in season 3? No one was going to change her mind. She had to find out on her own that life with Henry and her parents in Storybook was indeed home. Emma was perfectly capable of making her own decisions.
MYTH: GETTING MARRIED AND HAVING CHILDREN WAS NOT SEASON ONE EMMA'S HAPPY ENDING
Says who!? When did Emma say this? Emma didn’t want a family? GTFOH with that BS. More fanon that isn’t backed up by canon. She THOUGHT she wanted that life with Neal (re-watch Tallahassee). But after his betrayal she packed that side of her away for fear of being hurt again. You’re mistaking her protective armor for who she really is.
And furthermore proving that you don't know what character growth looks like. People change so characters should as well. Well written characters evolve.
MYTH: EMMA DIDN'T PUT HERSELF FIRST ANYMORE BECAUSE OF HOOK & WAS A SHELL OF HER FORMER SELF
Putting those you love first is a sign of unconditional love. I know that’s hard to understand since your queen is a self-centered bitch who never put anyone first… but Emma is different. And just because she wanted to be with her family doesn’t mean she wasn’t putting what she wanted first.
Emma being a shell of herself is a personal opinion. Emma evolved. She had many more layers by the time S6 rolled around. As I said above, her personality in S1-2 was a part of her armor as much as that jacket was. And to say she still wasn’t kicking ass in S6 is a lie. She sacrificed her life so a child would get his life back. Being a hero & putting others first is a strength of character. It’s honorable. Again, I know that’s hard seeing that Regina was 100% focused on her own happy ending but Emma was different. She is a character worth emulating because of her goodness, love and willingness to fight for others.
MYTH: THE CHARMINGS' & HOOK'S LOVE WAS CONDITIONED ON HER BEING THE SAVIOR AND BEING WITH HOOK
You just don’t like that she wanted Hook & not Regina. It’s also complete fanon that Emma’s acceptance depended on her being the savior & loving a man. The Charmings were too cautious about her relationship with Hook to be forcing that on her. They wanted her to be happy & when they saw she was, they accepted him. Also Hook’s love wasn’t dependent on her being the savior. Remember the scissors? Hook kept those suckers because her life meant more to him than her title.

While You Weren't Sleeping | OUAT fanfic oneshot

Summary: Emma learns that Hook was a little less unconscious after their fight in the Enchanted Forest than he’d led her to believe. (tag to s3 ep The Jolly Roger)

a/n: I personally still think that the s2 fight between Emma and Hook could have gone either way (one theory being that Emma actually won because Hook was being cocky, the other (more popular one) being Hook threw the fight because he didn’t want to hurt Emma).
I’m all for girl power so I love the idea of Emma having actually gotten the upper hand cause he was flirting too much lol and underestimated that Emma is a scrappy badass.
But this little story came along with the other theory, because I caught something Hook said in season 3. He tells Emma “Magic is a part of you, Swan. Don’t forget; I was there when Cora tried to steal your heart. I saw the power inside of you.” So, either this is a writing mistake, since he was supposed to be unconscious… or it was Hook’s flub, outing himself.
For the sake of this story, we’re going with the idea that Hook threw the fight, but I love both theories. :)
She found him where she knew she would; by the docks. And ever since seeing him again, though it’s been weeks since he woke her up in New York, she still felt a… something stir inside her at the sight of him. Something she’d felt at the town line, that might have prompted her to do something if they had been the only two people there.
But that was a long time ago.
And everything after Walsh…
She knew she had… feelings… for Hook—Killian.
However she didn’t yet know what to do about them.
“Hey,” said Emma, trying to ignore that feeling when he looked her way. “I need you to watch Henry again.”
Hook grinned, but it was still a softer one than he used to have.
Like this smile was one just for her.
“If you wanted to get close to me, no need to use the lad as an excuse,” said Hook, smirking a little.
Emma very nearly rolled her eyes. “I’m not.” At least not entirely. “Regina is giving me a magic lesson,” she explained. “We think that the both of us combined should be strong enough to overpower Zelena.”
His features shifted into one of a little relief. “That’s about the best plan we’ve got yet.” he said with a grin.
“Yeah,” said Emma, biting her lip, feeling a little less confident than he seemed to feel about her. She had no idea how to handle her magic and she wasn’t sure one lesson was going to change that.
“Don’t worry, Swan.” he said, the cunning slipping out of his expression, the look in his eyes shifting to something much more genuine. “Remember,” he said gently, “Magic is a part of you, Swan. Don’t forget I was there when Cora tried to steal your heart.” A change in his eyes, something like pride, like confidence , in her . “I saw the power inside of you.”
Emma smiled, a little heat touching her cheeks at the faith he had in her, nodding at his reassurance. Her magic was powerful, and that reminder did give her a little newfound faith in herself .
But her expression halted, something shifting in her eyes, and then her eyes snapped back to his.
Suspiciously.
“How do you know that?” she asked, eyes locked onto his. “Cora told you?”
“She didn’t have to,” he said, his own brows kneading with genuine puzzlement. “I was there.”
No…
“As I recall,” she said slowly, brows narrowing, “you were unconscious .”
“I—“ It was only then he seemed to understand the direction her interrogation was heading, and he froze. Swallowing, he scratched behind his ear, saying, “—aye, yes, I was.”
He didn’t .
“Then how did you know I used magic to stop Cora?” she demanded, brow hitching up sharply.
Hook swallowed again, eyes shifting to the ground before meeting hers.
Lie.
Emma felt something heat up her chest.
He did not .
“I—er, it only makes sense that’s how you—“
“ Hook .”
His eyes found hers.
And then…
He grinned .
Like a child caught doing something they shouldn’t have.
Emma’s jaw dropped.
“I knocked you out!” she hissed.
“You knocked me down ,” he corrected, that amused grin lifting his lips into a crooked smile, and Emma suddenly wanted to smack it off.
“Are you saying you let me win? ” growled Emma, voice hitching up an octave.
“I’m saying,” he said, “I didn’t duck when you swung the compass at my head.”
Emma gaped at him.
But it was there in his eyes.
His stupid, cocky eyes.
“I knocked you out,” whispered Emma. “You were being a cocky bastard, and I knocked you out .”
Hook winced a little. “I’ll admit to being the cocky bastard, but you know as well as I do that you didn’t.”
Emma stared him down, and he let her, and damnit he wasn’t lying.
“But—“ began Emma.
“Swan,” he said, a little exasperatedly, “unless you’ve forgotten, I am a few centuries old. I’ve been a swordsman for hundreds of years, and you’d been one for all of five minutes.” At her narrowed eyes, he said, “Though I’ll admit, I did have quite the headache afterward.”
Emma felt anger and a thread of humiliation course through her.
He let her win?
He let her win?
She’d prided herself on that victory.
But something else snuck into her mind, a question that suddenly wouldn’t let her go.
She raised her eyes to Hook. “Why?”
The amusement slipped from his face. “What do you mean why?”
Emma’s anger faded. “I mean,” she said quietly, “why’d you let me win? It’s not like we were on the same side.”
His brows rose. “Emma,” he said, and it always shot a little chill down her spine when he chose to use her first name. “ Winning that fight would have meant either severely injuring or killing you.”
“So?”
He blinked. “What?”
“So?” repeated Emma. “At that point you were ‘done with me.’” She watched Hook wince at the words, and she suddenly realized he must have regretted saying them to her. “You risked your mission and Cora’s wrath for me? Why?”
Hook hesitated.
And Emma would never get over how strange, how rare it was to see him unsure.
But he smiled, something soft, and he shifted her hair with his hook, like he’d done on the beanstalk. “Because I was never done with you, love.” Taking a breath, he said, “I still had the last Bean. I knew Cora and I could use it to get here, and you deserved to return to your son. I… simply couldn’t bring myself to prevent you.” He scratched behind his ear again. “And, love, I…” He swallowed. “I do apologize for the way I spoke to you that day.”
There was a touch of anguish in his eyes, and Emma found herself smiling. “You let me clock you in the face with a compass,” she said. “I think we’re even.”
He smiled too.
His eyes on her, he said, “Rest assured, love, that you are the strongest person I know.”
Emma rolled her eyes.
His expression didn’t change. “I’m not placating you, Emma,” he said with a sort of gentle firmness. “I may have given you that fight that day, but Cora didn’t.” Emma felt herself pause, realizing that. “No one,” Hook went on, “in any of the realms had been able to defeat her, myself, Regina and the bloody Crocodile included.” He smiled. “So, trust me when I say that I’ve still yet to see you fail, and I know you will defeat Zelena.”
Emma felt herself smile. “Thanks, Killian.” she said softly.
Hook smiled too, something even warmer. Because Henry was nowhere in earshot, and she used his name.
Because she was also realizing that he had been the first person, other than perhaps Henry, to believe in her.
And before she could think twice about it, throwing a look over her shoulder to make sure Henry wasn’t looking their way, Emma stepped toward him, kissing him lightly on the cheek.
He stared at her in utter shock.
Breezing past it, trying to keep the heat from rising to her cheeks, Emma said, “So you’ll watch Henry?”
He looked like he was torn from a daze. Shaking himself from it, he said, “Ah—aye, of course.”
“Thanks,” she whispered. She turned to get Henry, when Hook said, “Emma.”
She turned.
“I’d be open to a rematch,” he said, that grin back at his lips.
Emma smiled. “I would, too.”
Hook grinned.
She left Henry with Hook, then walked away, heading toward her magic lesson with Regina.
And found that she might be open to more than just a rematch.

Background: Francesca grew up as a Princess in the Enchanted Forrest. She had always known that there was trouble brewing in her family's Kingdom - she just didn't know what it was exactly. One night, her older sister disappeared and was never seen again by anyone. Years later, Frankie's mother tells the 14-year-old that she is to marry a Prince from a neighboring Kingdom to save theirs from money trouble. Frankie, deeply in love with a Princess from another Kingdom, refuses to do so, leading her mother to put the burden on her younger sister. Three years later, the curse hits, and twenty-eight years later, Frankie is still seventeen and living in Storybrooke as Winona Blanchard. Winnie loves to go to the stables in her free time and babysits Henry Mills every Tuesday and Friday. When Henry's birth mother, Emma Swan, comes into town, she brings lots of change with her, causing Winnie's worldview to unravel as Frankie fights her way back into her mind.

A short missing/extended scene of Emma returning Killian's heart. A little angst, a little fluff. For anyone who watched that scene and needed it to be a million times longer.

Walking down the wooden stairs into one of the cabins on the ship I see Rumple reappears wearing the leather skins I saw in my visions from awhile back. He turned around smiling at me where I rest my hands on his shoulders eyeing the fabric under my fingers. "Is it weird that I rather like this outfit?"
"Not at all dear. I will say though these skins are a part of my past. Before I met you that is." He rests one hand on my hip while his other tucks hair behind my ear. "This island is too dangerous for hand holding. I must revert back to my former self."
Staring up into his eyes I glanced down at my outfit which is just jeans and a tea shirt. My sword on my hip but it doesn't look as scary as his. Tilting my head to the side I give him puppy dog eyes. "Rumple I have a favor to ask...could you give me an outfit like yours?"
"Why's that sweetheart?" He asked with a small smile.
"Like you said hand holding won't work here. Make me into a badass princess." I explained with a small smirk on my face.
He raised his freehand engulfing me in purple smoke where I spun around seeing I am now wearing a red jacket with tears all over it. A white tea shirt thrown over with combat boots. Moving my hair over my shoulder I noticed pink dye on the ends of my blonde hair. Smiling up to him I throw my arms around his neck kissing him as a thank you.
He wrapped his arms around my waist breaking the kiss. "So you like it I presume?" I nod my head before he grabbed his cane seeing my sister arguing with our parents.
"Oh, that's a great use of our time—a wardrobe change!" Hook scoffs making everyone look our direction ending their conversations.
Rumple grips his cane in his right hand determined. "I'm gonna get Henry."
"We agreed to do this together." Regina barked back to him.
He shakes his head no at her statement. "Actually, we made no such agreement."
My sister dropped her arms down. "Why are you doing this?"
"Because I wanna succeed. Emma: What makes you think I'm gonna fail? Mr. Gold: Well, how could you not?" Rumple spoke to my sister not believing she's ready. "You don't believe in your parents, or in magic, or even yourself.
My sister rolled her eyes focusing back on me as I cross my arms over my chest. "I slayed a dragon, I think I believe. And besides how do you know my sister isn't the same way."
"Only what was shown to you. When have you ever taken a real leap of faith? You know, the kind where there's absolutely no proof? I've know you some time, Miss Swan. And, sadly, despite everything you've been through, you're still just that... bail bonds-person, looking for evidence. Well, dearie, that's not gonna work in Neverland." He explained to her then points his index finger my direction. "I believe in Astrid because she's learning magic and believed in it much sooner than you did."
Emma scoffed determined to get her son back. "I'll do whatever it takes."
"Well, you just need someone to tell you what that is. Sorry, dearie, our foe is too fearsome for hand-holding. Neverland is a place where imagination runs wild. And, sadly, yours doesn't." Rumple explained taking my hand in his teleporting us off the ship and onto the island.
Opening my eyes I gasped seeing I am inside a wooden cage instead of by Rumple's side when we left. Getting to my feet I frantically looked around hearing someone coming this direction. Grabbing the wooden bars in my hands I gasped seeing Henry and a boy with light brown hair staring my direction. "Henry...Henry!" I called out but he can't hear me.
The random boy knocks on a tree causing a group of boys to come running out circling Henry. "You proved yourself. You are the lucky owner of that very special heart. And now? You... and it... are mine." The boy draws a knife grinning. "Come on, boys! Let's play!"
The group of boys I had to assume are the lost boys took Henry off somewhere else allowing the other boy to come towards me. I reached down searching for my sword but not finding it anywhere on my belt. "Looking for this, darling?" The boy asked holding my sword in his hand.
"Give it back, you child!" I grunted lifting my hand up trying to use magic but nothing happens. So I try the other hand getting the same result. "What the hell. That's never happened before?"
The stranger chuckled with a smirk on his face pointing his index finger towards my right arm. "Look down dear..." Lifting my arm up there's a thick black cuff on my wrist. "You see that wonderful accessory on your arm blocks your magic."
"Why you little jerk. Take it off!" I demanded glaring towards the boy I still don't know his name.
He stepped up lifting my chin with the tip of my sword that he held in between the bars. "If I wanted to I would. But I don't trust you yet darling Astrid."
"How do you know my name. I never told you it." I shuffle backwards into the corner away from him as quickly as possible.
Rumple said Neverland is a dangerous place. I could gather that whoever was Pan in this camp must be even worse. "Because I know you're little traveling buddy the Dark One and he knows who I am." The boy smiled sticking the end of my sword into the dirt and leaning on it.
Wrapping my arms around myself I remained in the corner silently searching for a way out with no magic. "And who are you supposed to be. Another lost boy?"
"Oh how rude of me darling. Where are my manners." The boy chuckled stepping up to the corner of the cage I am in. I gulped feeling his eyes staring me down. "I'm Peter, Peter Pan."

oh god i'm so bad at picking faves and i have so many of them in this show but ok:
Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold - First of all, acting!!!! Robert Carlyle is one of my favourite actors and his scenes should be taught in acting schools. Seriously though, I'm a sucker for complex characters and Rumple has the most complicated personality of them all! He seems to have it all, yet he has lost sooo much. He loves power but power is the thing that keeps him from being happy. He seems evil, but is actually smol etc. you get the point.
I hate how they treated his character in the last few seasons, but oh well he was still superior and awesome ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Emma Swan - I don't really need to explain why because I'd like to think that Emma steals all of our hearts from the moment she first appears on the show. She's a true heroine, something you don't see in most media. She is resourceful, independent, brilliant and absolutely badass while at the same time caring about everyone more than she does about herself. She is everything I strive to be and if more people were like her the world would be a better place 🦢
Regina Mills - Going back to how much I love complex characters... I don't know why (and this is probably not a good thing) but I find myself relating to Regina sometimes. She's trying to find her own happiness but it always slips away. She is strong af, but sees herself as weak and these are traits I can relate to. She steals every scene she's in, her backstory is the most interesting of all in my opinion (every episode with Regina flashbacks was my fav) and let's not forget she's absolutely gorgeous 👑

How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom?
This is the start of year 2 of being active within the fanfiction writing aspect of this fandom. I started watching OUAT ages ago, and stopped mid season 3... but then picked it up in March 2020 and finished it all in a couple weeks. Since then I've been somewhat obsessed...When did you start shipping Captain Swan?
Uh... Probably in Neverland... but definitely by the CS movie. I've never been so inspired by one couple in a show before, they're magic.
What drew you to this event?
Because I had so much fun doing it last year.
What inspired your topic?
I had this idea about Emma walking into an alley and taking a Vampire by surprise. It exploded from there. I guess it's a little bit Buffy inspired, not that I've watched a lot of that, but I also wanted to do something quite different from last year, where Emma was a bit clueless about things. This time she's a god damn badass and I'm really enjoying that about her. Plus I did werewolves last year, so this year I decided to run with a Vampire fic!

Emma’s footsteps echoed in the alleyway, the buzz of the streetlamps a distant hum behind her that faded to nothing amid the click of her heels on the poorly laid tarmac. She wrinkled her nose against the smell of the bins stacked at the end, her eyes flicking up to take in the fire escapes on either side. She could feel the shadows pressing in around her, ominous and foreboding. “Walsh?” she called, her voice sounding timid and worried as she moved further away from the safety of the populated street and into the darkness. Where the hell had he gone? She’d only been a couple of steps behind him and it wasn’t that dark down here… “Walsh, stop messing around. This isn’t funny and you’re far too old for these silly games,” she declared with an almost petulant huff. A dark chuckle rang out from her left and Emma turned sharply to see him stepping out of the shadows. He was smirking, his stride sure and predatory as he approached her.
“Old enough that games make life interesting, actually.” He sounded almost amused, but his eyes were cold, colder than she’d ever seen them before. He stepped closer, lifting his hand to brush back her hair, threading his fingers into it to cradle the back of her head. She felt her skin tingle at the contact, as his nails grazed her scalp. She could smell him as she breathed in, he smelled incredible, he had every time they’d met but standing this close, even over the garbage at the end of the alley, it was intoxicating. He licked his lips as he took her in, taking a deep breath as his eyes drifted shut for a brief moment before he looked into her eyes.
“What are you playing at?” she asked, frowning. “A quickie in an alley is not what I dressed up for.” The protest was clear in both her words and her tone.
“No? Could have fooled me…” his voice was as cold as his gaze and his fingers twisted, nails scraping harshly against her skin as they locked into her hair. She could both feel and see the change in his gaze as his eyes bored into hers. They seemed both darker and brighter somehow, as his pupils overtook his irises. She gasped as it started, her lips parting as her breathing started to elevate. She felt warm all over, and then she felt hot, like her blood was rising to the surface of her skin, moving faster around her body.
“Walsh, I…” she didn’t sound tentative any more, she sounded breathy, needy. Stepping closer she could feel the hard planes of his lithe body pressing against her, the chill of his skin everywhere hers was bare, she sighed blissfully at the sanitation even as she shivered in the cool of the evening air.
“I know, it will all be over soon,” his voice was soft, soothing, a stark contrast to how it had sounded before and how hard his skin felt as her hand moved to his arm. A feeble half-hearted attempt to push him back. His hand closed over hers, carefully guiding it behind her back and holding it there as he pulled her flush against him. The look in his eyes intensified, her breaths were coming quicker, her eyelids fluttering as the heating of her blood became a heady rush that threatened to overwhelm her. He tilted his head, his nose brushing across her collarbone and up the column of her neck. “You smell divine, my dear,” he crooned into her ear. “Hold still, and I’ll make sure it’s as good for you as it is for me…”

What are you looking forward to most about participating in this event?
Seeing what everyone comes up with! And there is nothing like the thrill of someone else making art for your story! It's a great community atmosphere, and the sprints are always good fun. I'm looking forward to finishing something, and seeing what everyone thinks of it. Working with Krystal as my beta again is going to be fun, she's incredible and always great at playing sounding board too! Just hoping I can do my plot outline justice at this point HAHAHAHA!

Chapter 2: Awakening, Pt 2
"Emma…" they uttered, as she stared at them and then at the baby.
"Hey…" she said numbly, as they hugged her between them.
"This…this is your brother, Bobby," Snow said gently. Emma couldn't help but smile at the baby.
"Hey there, kid," she said, as the awkwardness between them quickly returned. But they wouldn't have time to iron any of that out now.
"Henry…" Regina uttered, as she was led into the room.
"Mom…" he said, as she hugged him.
"He's been with you?" Regina asked.
"Yeah…and he's going to stay with me," Emma replied.
"You can't keep me from my son," Regina growled.
"And I won't…I'm not the one that almost killed us all," Emma said.
"Waking her was a mistake," Gold growled.
"Agreed," David echoed.
"Nice to see you too, Charming…and it's simply delicious that you've been locked up all these years," Regina said smugly, as she looked at Gold.
"Of course you'd like that…you're a pro at locking people up," Belle retorted, as she entered the room.
"This is never going to work," Casey muttered to the General. He put his hand up and stalled them all.
"It will work…because your freedom depends on it," the General stated, silencing them.
"We haven't done anything wrong," Snow claimed.
"Nothing wrong huh, Princess?" Casey asked sternly.
"Careful how you speak to my wife," David replied, getting in his face.
"I'm not one you want to pick a fight with, Charming…I've traveled this entire globe, carrying out mission after mission, tangling with the worst human evil that you can imagine," Casey warned.
"And I've killed the worst from our land too and if you were so badass, you wouldn't need me," David countered, as the other man gave him a long gaze.
"That was a werewolf I killed today, wasn't it?" David asked. Snow blanched.
"You faced a werewolf before you were awake?" Snow asked. He nodded.
"We'd been chasing this guy for days, but he had no pattern. Just random attacks and kills. Now I know why. He's trying to turn, but can't fully. For some reason," David replied.
"You're correct," Shaw said, as he brought up a map of the country on the large screen before them.
"When the explosion that destroyed your town went off, a cloud of what we can only assume is some sort of magical radiation washed over the country. It has caused magical beings and creatures to pop up in places, with the highest concentration of the magical and paranormal activity being in New York," Shaw explained.
"If magic is here…why can't I feel it?" Regina asked.
"As I have explained to Mr. Gold, it works very differently here. I have no doubt that you'll figure out how to use it eventually. But this team will also have all the firepower and equipment needed, including a base of operation, which we will aptly code named, Castle," the General explained.
"Bullets don't work on most of these creatures. I just had to kill what seemed like a werewolf in mid transformation. Normally, that takes silver, but he wasn't fully transformed so the steel rod was enough…this time," David said. Shaw nodded.
"You will have guns, swords, bows and arrows, and an entire armory of weapons. Even silver bullets if needed," he assured the Prince.
"What if we don't want this? What if we don't want any of this and just want to go back to our lives?" Emma asked.
"I'm sorry, Miss Swan, but it is the position of the United States government that the explosion in Maine has resulted in devastating consequences for the entire world, perpetuated by people not of this land. It would be within our scope to lock all of you down in a containment facility for the rest of your lives," he warned sternly, chilling them all for a moment.
"However, we believe you are also the solution to saving the world from creatures we don't fully understand and thus, we are willing to bargain with you," he continued.
"You help us and work for us and you have relative freedom and citizenship in this world. As a bonus…you'll be helping to protect and save people's lives," he finished.
"Then we accept," David said.
"You don't speak for me, Charming," Regina protested.
"You're the reason we're in this mess. Had you not blown up our town, because you weren't getting your way…then none of this would be happening," Emma snapped. Regina pursed her lips, but went silent, as the General nodded.
"Then Taskforce Magic is up and running," he said. Killian raised an eyebrow and the others clearly were amused by the silly name.
"That's what you're calling us?" Killian asked.
"Does anyone have any better suggestions?" he asked.
"Operation Castle," Henry chimed in, as all eyes turned to him. They smiled.
"I like that," David said..
"Me too," Snow agreed.
"And it makes sense. We have Castles back in our land and you've named our base Castle," Belle said.
"Then Operation Castle it is," Shaw agreed.
"One more question…we noticed that Red isn't here. She helped us a lot when we took back the Kingdom. Granny too. Why didn't you wake them as well?" Snow asked.
"I'm afraid we're concerned that since magic is different here that your friend wouldn't be able to control her transformation. It has been many years since she phased, after all," a woman said, as she entered.
"This is your second handler, on loan from the CIA. Agent Alivia Becker," he said, as he introduced her.
"Okay…Red will have no trouble controlling her powers. Trust us," David said.
"Except that I don't yet and even if she could, we are already exposing people to things that they have never seen before. We need to contain each mission to as few people seeing it as we can. It's too dangerous," Alivia refuted.
"Disagree," Snow said.
"It doesn't matter…the decision is made," Shaw stated. Snow huffed and made her displeasure known.
"So where is this Castle? And what about the jobs we have in this world?" Killian asked.
"Why do you care?" Gold asked.
"Excuse me, Crocodile, but Dave and I have made quite a name for ourselves as a team. I enjoy my reputation, as you well know," Killian replied. David rolled his eyes.
"We do have important cases that we were working and Snow loves her teaching job," David said.
"I've already informed your Captain that the NSA will now be employing you and Detective Rogers. Your skills as law enforcement have not gone unnoticed. Agent Casey will be your Captain now. Or rather…your Major," Shaw said.
"As for the rest of you…you'll maintain your day jobs as much as possible. We have an agent that will step in and cover as Margaret's new student teacher when she's away with the team," the General continued.
"Same with Ms. French," he added.
"Miss Swan…your talents are also recognized by the NSA and we are recruiting you full time as well," he said.
"And me?" Regina asked.
"You'll maintain your business. Roni's is the base. We have built Castle beneath it with internal access," Casey said.
"You built a base beneath my bar?" Regina asked. He smirked.
"We did. It's state of the art, with an armory and the latest tech," he replied.
"Fine…I assume you're tracking some of the monsters? Other than the one I already killed, of course," David said, as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"We are…but I'm running this operation, Agent Nolan. You're a rookie at this. I've gone on more missions than you have worked in the last three years and countless in my career. I'm a marine…and your superior," Casey said. David smirked.
"I've killed dragons, trolls, and creatures that would make the blood drain from your face. I was a Knight and like you, can snap a neck when I need to. If you could handle this on your own, you wouldn't have brought us in," David replied, as they stared at each other and when David didn't back down from his intimidating stare that usually worked on others, Casey seemed to give a nod of respect.
"We have cars waiting outside. We can show you to the base and we'll brief you on the intel we have there," he said.
"Roni's bar will be a cover for myself and Agent Becker," he said, looking at Regina.
"I'm your new bartender and she'll be your new waitress," he added.
"I already have those," Regina said.
"They've both received other job offers today that they just couldn't pass up. I'm sure you have messages that they've quit," Casey replied. Regina was about to lay into him about intruding into her business in such a way, but Henry saved him from enduring her tirade.
"What about me?" Henry asked.
"You'll keep going to school and be with your family like a normal little boy," the General answered. Henry's shoulders slumped.
"It's okay, kid…we'll tell you all about everything," Emma promised.
"Hold on a minute…are you just assuming that you have custody now?" Regina asked.
"According to the papers generated by the backfire of your trigger, she does," Shaw interjected.
"He's my son…she gave him up," Regina argued.
"Not by choice," Emma said.
"And I'm not going to keep him from you…but he's settled and has a routine. You can come over anytime and we can work out a schedule," the blonde added. Regina didn't like it and wanted to lament how things had turned out for her, especially since the imp's voice was in her head, giggling about how villains don't get happy endings.
She couldn't help but reflect that such had happened. The backlash from the trigger had kept Snow and Charming together and now they had a baby. It had put Emma and Henry together too, while Rumple was imprisoned and she had been a lonely bar owner. Hook seemed to have somewhat of a good life too, but he also seemed to be alone.
"Enough," Casey said, ending the argument for the time being.
"It's time to show you the base and pinpoint the location of our first target," he said, as they were led out to a couple of large SUVs, which took them to Roni's bar.
The sound of someone walking could be heard in the dark hallway and it perked Tamara's interest. Since the explosion, she and Greg had been locked away in a pair of cells. There were others around them too, but they didn't know who they were. Nothing much had been said to them and three long years in isolation had done nothing to help their already questionable mental health. They had three meals delivered to them and were allowed out to use the shower stalls and that was it. No outside, no fresh air, no sunlight. It was maddening, to say the least.

The footsteps stopped at her cell and she looked up at the door as it opened for the first time and a figure stood there, male by the looks of the height and build.
"Who are you?" she asked. She had asked this a million times whenever she heard someone outside her cell, but never received an answer. Today, that would change.
"We're the Home Office," the man said.
"You're lying…" she claimed.
"No…but that's only part of the story. We're the real Home Office, I should say. The one you were following was just using our mission and using you as a means to an end," he said, as he came into the light. She didn't recognize him, but he was tall and well built.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, as he motioned her and she followed, as he let Greg out of his cell.
"For your utter failure, you've been in isolation to make sure you were not genetically altered by the magical radiation from that town," he said, as he led them into what seemed like a control room.
"This is a satellite image of the explosion of the trigger that destroyed Storybrooke," he said, as he showed them the diamond exploded and complete eradication of the town. Greg allowed himself a small, smug smile.
"I hope it was painful when the Queen perished," he said.
"It wasn't…and she's very much alive. Most of them are," the man revealed. Greg frowned.
"How is that possible?" Tamara asked.
"You survived. Do you really think no one else did?" he answered her with his own question.
"They fought us…we were supposed to be through the portal with the boy before it went off," Greg said.
"Except the Home Office you were following isn't the real one. Our mission is to destroy magic and eradicate it from this world. But you've caused the opposite," he said.
"No…we destroyed the town and we were on our way to bring the boy to our superiors," Greg argued.
"Those superiors that recruited you only co-opted our message for their own purposes. You were bringing the boy to Peter Pan. That portal would have taken you to Neverland and he would have likely killed you. Then he would have used the boy's heart to ensure his immortality," the man said.
"Peter Pan?" Greg asked.
"Do you know what you sound like?" Tamara asked.
"Please…you know that it's all real and yes, I do know what it sounds like. But suspend whatever images of Peter Pan you have in your head from movies and television. He's no boy. He's a demon…once a man wanting to shirk his responsibilities. But in a land that gave him his youth back, like everything, it didn't last. Feeding off the youth of others was the only way to keep his own youth," the man explained.
"The boy…" Greg said. The man nodded.
"He needed that particular boy to avoid death. Thankfully, you two failed to give him what he needed and he shriveled up and died finally. Very recently," the man said.
"So…it's over. We destroyed the town and magic," Greg said.
"Wrong…they're all alive and worse, the magical radiation has spread through the country, with the highest concentration remaining in New England," the man replied.
"Are…are you saying there is magic everywhere now?" Tamara questioned.
"In a way…it doesn't work exactly like it did there. But it's here and so are many creatures and abominations that don't belong," he said.
"Why are you telling us this? Obviously you were keeping us locked up as punishment," Tamara said bitterly.
"Correct and like I said, we had to make sure you weren't genetically altered by the radiation. But now, you have a chance to help us rectify your mistake and actually destroy magic, once and for all," he said.
"How do you know we weren't altered?" Greg asked curiously, as the door opened and someone walked in, practically dragging a frightened old woman.
"Your hearts, of course. If you're not from this world, your heart possesses a certain unique trait that a normal human heart does not," the man said, as he opened a metal case and took out a strange looking device. It was circular and glowed brightly in the center, like something out of a comic book.
"Most of Storybrooke's citizens survived the explosion. Their memories were wiped and they were given new lives. Most of them ended up in New York City, but thanks to our technology, we are able to identify them with a simple scan from a special device," he said, gesturing to the frightened old woman.
"This is Molly and she works in a tailor shop in upstate New York, but really she is from Storybrooke and was but a simple seamstress there," he said.
"I…I don't know what you're talking about. I've never lived in a place called Storybrooke," she said.
"See? No memory…but it doesn't matter. She doesn't belong and we must take care of the problem. Fortunately, we can do it easily now," he said, as they watched in horror, as the device hummed and glowed very brightly. It seemed to have a powerful suction and they watched in abject horror, as her heart was literally ripped from her chest, without opening the woman's chest. She cried out in pain though and they saw a burn mark that was left behind. The poor old woman looked at the man in horror too. The heart glowed, just like Greg had seen Snow White's do when the Queen ripped it from her chest. The man transferred the glowing organ to his free hand and stared at it like it was the most evil thing he had ever seen. Then they watched him crush the heart into diamond dust and let it fall on the body of the old woman, who now lay dead at his feet.
"Who…who are you?" Tamara asked.
"My name is not significant, but I am a General. I am former military and CIA. I have gone rogue now in the pursuit to destroy magic, because it nearly destroyed me," he said.
"How?" Greg asked, as he turned to him.
"Because I was once one of Pan's lost boys. I was abducted by him and then attacked and left for dead when I wanted to leave. By chance, I was swept back into this world through a portal and was nursed back to health at a hospital. I wanted to find my family, but to my shock and horror, I found that it had been nearly one hundred years since I had been gone. Everyone I had known and loved was dead. I went into the system and vowed that I would rise to a place of power in this world, so I could pursue my life's mission to make sure no other child would ever be ruined by magic," he said bitterly.
"The Home Office is actually a rogue government agency?" Tamara asked. He nodded curtly.
"Yes…and some of my former employees have awakened and recruited prominent members of Storybrooke to get a handle on the magical outbursts in this world," he said, as photos of several people appeared on the screen. Greg scowled at seeing that one was the Queen.
"While they hunt magical anomalies, we will hunt those from Storybrooke and kill them, including them," he said.
"That is…if you are in?" he added. Greg and Tamara exchanged a glance and smirked.
"We're in,"

Favorite character: Alice Jones! Loml. I relate to her so much. An actual cinnamon cupcake.
Least Favorite character: Okay, I’m gonna look through every character and choose instead of just guessing. You know, I think it’s Alphonse Frankenstein (a.k.a Viktor and Gerhardt’S dad). He’s just terrible, doesn’t give anyone a chance to speak and just hates Viktor for no discernible reason. I’m not for violence but Gerhardt probably just wanted to get a word in edgeways.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Oooh! This is a fun quezzie!
1. Snowing
Perfect babies. I love them more than words can say. They are so perfect for one another and they make my heart swell every time they’re together.
2. Curious Archer
This ship means so much to me. They helped me finally come to terms with my sexuality and they are just such a wonderful couple. Have I expressed how much I love how supportive Robin is?! The way they look at each other. The way Robin became a better person with accidental help from Alice. I just love them. They belong together.
3. Hooking Utensil
They’re just so cute. They’re so flirtatious and are always helping eachother out. They just had so much potential and I need all the fics and I just want Wish Hook, Tiana and Alice to be a family because she’s so good to Alice and I need AUs where they raise her together and I cry.
4. Gremma
Forever my otp for Emma. They just had so much potential and he was the first person she opened up to in a romantic sense after a long while. She was lonely for so long and she let herself reveal her caring side with him. He meant so much to her because of that and she wore his shoelace around her wrist for a long time after his death, which says so much and their kiss broke through his cursed persona, which surely makes them true love. I wish they’d explained that. Would it have worked if Emma kissed Mary Margaret on the forehead? We’ll never know.
5. Frozen Swan
More on my thoughts on this pairing further down! But also, remember that true love’s hand hold?
Character I find most attractive: Mary Margaret and David
Character I would marry: Okay, probably Mary Margaret most of all! Especially s1 Mary Margaret but I also want to marry David and Alice Jones! And Kathryn! And Jefferson! And Anna! And Robin Mills! And Elsa! And, okay I’m gonna have a lot of weddings to plan.
Character I would be best friends with: Alice Jones or Anna. I need an uplifting, quirky friend.
a random thought: I really want to figure out all of the characters ages by the start of the curse and end of the show.
An unpopular opinion: I really like s7 and I know a lot of people don’t. It’s my 3rd favourite season because I think it introduces some great characters, like Alice Jones, an older Robin Mills and Princess Tiana.
My Canon OTP: Snowing
My Non-canon OTP: Hooking Utensil
Most Badass Character: I’mma go with Emma. She’s like the epitome of a badass.
Most Epic Villain: Zelena, for me! Loved every moment of her in s3 and she quickly became my favourite character before Alice came along. She was just deliciously wicked and funny.
Pairing I am not a fan of: Captain Swon, Outlaw Queeen, Rumbellle. They’re just not for me. Though the first used to be. And lol, I was just looking up ouat ships and found out the ship for August x Baelfire is called Firewood xD. I’m not opposed to that ship, however!
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Emma and original Hook after s5. I just felt they became totally different characters dedicated only to eachother without room for anyone else. Emma, in particular, became unrecognisable. I missed her meaningful interactions with her family. I missed her old personality.
Favourite Friendship: Mary Margaret and Emma in s1. They were such good friends who could confide anything in each other and always gave each other great advice. And Emma saying she can’t lose her family even before they knew they were in 1x17 kills me everytime. She was willing to do anything for her best friend. They were like sisters.
Character I most identify with: Alice Jones We’re both pretty eccentric, mentally ill, autistic (I headcanon her to be) and not straight haha! I try to see the positive side of things nowadays like her and I have my own odd way of doing things. Who wants to be normal, anyway?
Character I wish I could be: Hmm. Good question. I’d like to have magic, so I guess Alice because she can just wish for anything and it’s hers. I wouldn’t mind being Snow or Charming so I could be married to one of them but I’d hate to break them up.
003 Regina Mills
How I feel about this character: I like her. Her and I went through a rocky patch in s5 and early s6 because I just found her hypocrisy when it came to Zelena to be too much, but she regained my favour in s7 and I can look past it now. She scared the crap out of me in s1, ngl. But I love that about her. I think she’s a great villain with a sympathetic backstory. Though her difficulty in self-reflecting frustrated me at times, I’ve learned to see it as part of what makes her character so unique and complex and I’m glad she grew in that respect in s6. Regina’s cool.
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Dr. Facilier, Kathryn, Daniel, Maleficent and, you know, I’m getting into Swan Queen recently since I’m following a lot of blogs that post about them, including yours Renee! Thank you for dragging me down the SQ rabbit hole with you xD!
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I would say Wicked Queen but I want to go for something different than my penultimate answer. I love the relationship with Cora and Regina. I am such a sucker for toxic mother-daughter relationships and there’s is like the epitomy of that. It’s so intriguing to watch Cora manipulate, control and influence her. And after everything Regina still loves her mother. Such a great dynamic!
My unpopular opinion about this character: I guess it’s that I’m not a fan of 0Q at all and I never really did like them together. I just felt Regina had to change her whole persona when around him but at least she went back to herself when he wasn’t around. I wish that was the same for Emma with her bf.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I kinda wished she had taken responsibilities for her actions earlier but I guess the reward for waiting wouldn’t have been as satisfying. I also wish the serum!queen was more intimidating in s6. I was hoping to be as scared of her as I was in s1, but ah well.
Favorite friendship for this character: I love her dynamic with Zelena. I love how it started in s3 with them hating eachother and I love how it evolved, even though I did find it difficult in s5 and early s6. But they were such a delight in later s5, later s6 and s7. They came so far.
My crossover ship: Freaking Bellatrix Lestrange is the only one that comes to mind. Regina feels difficult to pair. But I have no doubt they’d create devastating chaos together and Bellatrix would be as obsessed with her as she was with Voldemort.
002 Any Ship from Ouat
Oooh! I feel so powerful right now! I’m gonna go with Frozen Swan!
When I started shipping them: In 4x02 when Emma is freezing and Elsa is grasping her hands and panicking for her. Just watch the way Elsa holds onto her. That sh*t’s gay and I love it.
My thoughts: I’ve recently been looking at a lot of crack ouat s4 posts and I am living for gay Elsa pining over Emma. I wish those posts were canon however wild they may be.
What makes me happy about them: I love how their friendship developed. She is arguably the best friend Emma ever had, not afraid to show affection for her (because she’s in love with her lbr) and helped Emma accept herself when no one else could. Elsa needs a girlfriend and Emma and her are a great pairing. The way Elsa looks at her. I just die. And the fact that they both struggled to control their magic.
What makes me sad about them: That they never got together and Elsa never got to be explicitly gay. Please, it’s all I want in life! It probably wasn’t the writer’s intention but my God, the subtext is so freaking strong.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: None.
Things I look for in fanfic: I haven’t read a Frozen Swan fanfic in a while but I need Elsa battling with her sexuality because her parents forced her to supress her gay feelings. Love triangles are good, with Elsa pining and Emma eventually realising that Elsa is her soulmate after her magic goes out of control. Elsa pining is a good and painful thing.
My wishlist: I wish their was never ending crack posts of the frozen arc. I just can’t get enough. I wish I realised how much I need to get back into reading Frozen Swan (if anyone knows any canon divergent where Elsa longs for Emma please send me recs! There will be so many cookies!). I wish Elsa was in the show much longer. The Frozen characters were just so good and I needed so much more of them.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Emma I would be happy with Graham, August, Baelfire or Jefferson. For Elsa. Hmm, some lucky lady. Elsa x Ruby would be cute. They could help each other control the ‘monster’ within. Frozen Wolf is cool. I can also see Robin Mills, actually, when I think about it, when Robin is older like she is in s7 and we make them the same age, of course. Robin’s good at calming people down.
My happily ever after for them: Emma would have to leave Hook for Elsa in s4 and they wouldn’t have to go to freaking camelot in s5. Let them go to Arendelle instead! They’d eventually get married, raise Henry together and have joint custody with Regina and they can have a magical daughter that’s super powerful and has both their magic. She’d need their help controlling it but she’d get nothing but support from them and her brother. She can be called Ruth or Gerda, but I prefer Ruth.

No Time To Die (2021) Review
I swear this movie came out 2 years ago?... Okay, yes, I agree, that was a cheap gag, but look, the constant postponement of this film's release is in itself a joke! Finally though, it is here.
Plot: James Bond is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica after leaving active service. However, his peace is short-lived as his old CIA friend, Felix Leiter, shows up and asks for help.
“I’d rather slash my wrists.” Those were the words spoken by actor Daniel Craig in 2015 for a Time Out magazine interview prior to the release of Spectre. Seemingly it felt as if Craig was done with his signature role as famed British spy James Bond, however be as it may have been, MGM managed to sway away Craig’s suicidal thoughts and cut him a cheque with a sum he simply couldn’t refuse and have him return for a proper final outing. Hollywood business at it’s finest, ladies and gentlemen! But the question is posed, was there a need for another Craig/Bond film? For the previous instalment Spectre was such a let-down that it left a sour taste, or at least I think it did. Honestly, I don’t really remember much of what happened in Spectre, it was such a shoulder-shrugging forgettable feature. The answer however is a positive one, for No Time To Die ends up being worth the wait. All this wait. Though I would’ve found it super amusing if this film came out and turned out to be an absolute stinker, as then everyone would just be sat there in the theatre wondering why the hell we’ve been waiting for this movie this entire time. But nope, it’s a good one.
No Time To Die really feels like a culmination of Daniel Craig’s time as James Bond. And with that merit this movie doesn’t actually feel like a James Bond film. Yes, it has the one-liners and the action set pieces and the typical tropes of a Bond film, however the focus here is very much more on Daniel Craig’s interpretation of the character, and how he managed to turn a weapon into a human. For James Bond at the end of the day was always a killing machine. License to kill and all that jazz was always at the centre of what made the character, however Craig’s take brought a lot of humanity and reality to what was a stereotype. And it’s shown more than ever in No Time To Die, with Daniel Craig delivering a performance of vast emotional gamut. His Bond experiences moments of general happiness and actual love (real love, not just his typical one-night stands he’s known for) to then fury and sadness. My fiancée jokingly made a remark at the beginning of this movie about how petty James Bond is acting in this movie. And I agreeably chuckled at first, for to be fair he was getting offended easily and taking everything so personally without giving it much thought, however the more the movie progressed, the more I understood why he was this way. It made him feel more human, and actually made me care for him. Additionally, the aforementioned element of love plays a big part in this film, for romance is truly at the heart of this one. Bond turns out to be a real loving sweetheart, and this all culminated in one hell of a finale, one that really surprised me with it’s emotional gut punch. Look, I see this film’s ending really dividing audiences as it’s not something you would typically expect from a James Bond movie, however I absolutely relished it and saw it as a perfect swan song for Daniel Craig.
The movie is long. In fact, it’s very long. In fact, it’s too long. It runs at nearly 3 hours and yes, there is a lot of story crammed into this but honestly there are many chunks that could have been cut down and the film would have benefitted from it. For the movie is very good, but it has chunks that drag which does cause the experience to be slightly diminished, however that being said, this is a very well directed movie. Cary Joji Fukunaga (who’s previous work I don’t know much of though I have seen his Netflix limited series Maniac with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone which I do recommend highly) exhibits some strong directing here, balancing moments of real tension using unsettling imagery with moments of levity and good character chemistry. Yes, he brings class and the right amount of epicness to the action sequences, but it was actually the quieter moments that I feel he really excelled at. The opening sequence is especially disturbing, with the way Fukunaga displays this lonely isolated house in the middle of snowy nowhere, and we see a mysterious figure creep towards it wearing a mask so creepy it reminded me of that freaky monkey mask from the horror thriller I See You. A shot from behind a sliding glass door I found especially unnerving.
Performances across the board are all great. Daniel Craig I’ve already sing praise for, however others are to be mentioned also. Rami Malek manages to take a fairly lacklustre villain and present him in proper vile fashion. He’s truly unpleasant and horrible in this role, and I truly despised him which is what made him perfect for the role. That being said the actual character was weak. There wasn’t much meat to him so to speak. Typical Bond bad guy who wanted to see the world burn. Lea Seydoux returns as Bond’s love interest Madeleine and her chemistry with Craig is wonderful and I really enjoyed seeing her character develop more since the last movie. Returning from Spectre too is the villainous Blofeld played by Christoph Waltz, and though he isn’t in the movie much, I weirdly enjoyed him more this time around. In Spectre is was really forgettable and the script didn’t know what to do with him, whilst here is serves a specific purpose and we also get to enjoy a great scene with him in prison having a battle of wits with Bond. Real good stuff. We also have a couple of new Bond girls, with Lashana Lynch taking on the 007 mantle, and it was nice seeing a very different kind of spy in her. Her and Bond bicker quite a bit, however natural they become buddies and they are the better for it. And Lynch can be easily added to the list of powerful badass women on-screen. Ana de Armas also appears in what is a little Knives Out reunion, and unfortunately she’s only in the movie for one sequence, but it’s actually a great sequence with her putting a new spin on the Bond girl stereotype, bringing charm, swagger and humour and riffing off good banter with Craig. Shame we only see so little of her. The likes of Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Ralph Fiennes also return, and even Jeffrey Wright takes a break from pondering What If? scenarios to make a little comeback.
No Time To Die definitely stands next to the better Daniel Craig Bond films alongside Casino Royale and Skyfall, and it’s a true culmination of all of them, whilst still managing to ignore and forget the existence of Quantum of Solace, which is good, because Quantum of Solace sucks and I can’t believe I even managed to bring it up again!! Regardless, what a way to send off Daniel Craig on a proper high, and really refreshing to actually witness a Bond movie that features feelings and emotions. In fact, it’s pure Valentine’s Day essential viewing, so mark your calendars for next year, as you now know what film you have to rewatch on February 14th 2021!

1. how do they pay for anything once the curse is broken in storybrooke?? like is regina just embezzling money from the town as mayor? how does emma afford gas for her bug and how does said gas station pay for gas?! how do they all pay for food at granny's and how does granny's stay open and how do they not have supply chain issues?!
2. why are no birthdays celebrated???
3. HOW did emma get her stuff sent to storybrooke in season 1 when she moved in w mary margaret when apparently no one can find storybrooke on a map???

Once Upon A Different Time - The Notes for 4B through 7
Here we go! These notes are nowhere near as detailed as the 4A notes and are very rumbelle-centric, but hopefully they’ll give you a good idea of what’s going on nonetheless.
Under a cut because this got super super long.
Season 4B - Queens of Darkness and the Author
General notes:
Maleficent is a major character this season, but only in flashback. Dead is dead, she’s not coming back.
In the past. Aurora’s parents (Stefan and Leah) made a deal with Rumpelstiltskin, the price being their first-born child. Stefan has a trick up his sleeve, as prior to his arranged marriage to Leah he had been in a relationship with Maleficent that resulted in a pregnancy. He plans to take his and Maleficent’s child and give it to Rumpel as his first-born.
Stefan attempts to take Maleficent’s child (Lily), and goes up against Cruella and Ursula. In the scuffle, Lily, Cruella and Ursula all end up in the Land Without Magic, scattered. Lily is taken into care (where she will later meet Emma, call back to season 4A), Cruella and Ursula separately vow to find each other and Lily and return to the Enchanted Forest.
Meanwhile, Maleficent swears revenge on Stefan and Leah and goes to Rumpel for a sleeping curse. He tells her that it’s best administered straight into the blood, and on seeing his spinning wheel in the corner, Maleficent gets an idea.
In the present. Cruella and Ursula have found each other in New York, and have recognised Aurora there (call back to season 3B when Aurora and Mulan were hiding in Neal’s old apartment in New York). They track down the apartment and break in, surprised to find not Aurora (who is back in Storybrooke at this point) but Rumpel (he and Neal are staying in the apartment whilst trying to find a way to reverse Rumpel’s darkening heart). The three of them have a discussion about the idea of the Author controlling everyone’s fates, and they make a plan to try and find the Author.
Neal and Rumpel return to Storybrooke, and Rumpel sneaks Cruella and Ursula into town. (Belle and Neal are aware of this going on and whilst not entirely happy about it, are also intrigued by the idea of the Author.)
Cruella and Ursula also want revenge against Aurora for Lily. Aurora points out that since Stefan and Leah are both now dead, hurting Aurora will not cause them any pain and their vengeance mission is pointless.
Regina infiltrates the QOD Squad, also intrigued by the idea of the Author; but her cover is blown when Cruella and Ursula threaten Roland and she jumps in to save him.
Cruella and Ursula want to rewrite the story so that they stay together and stay with Lily. Regina wants to rewrite the story so that she never killed Marian and she and Robin can be together. Rumpel wants to write out the darkness.
Being back in Storybrooke, Rumpel’s darkening heart takes a turn for the worse and he ends up hospitalised, much like canon 4B but without Zelena (who is definitely 100% dead).
The Author creates a new story which creates a brand new Enchanted Forest (foreshadowing for Season 7). Everyone except Henry is transported there, as Henry was never a character in the first storybook. Henry and the Author fight it out over the quill, with Henry gaining the upper hand and becoming the new Author. He writes himself into the story so that he can go and rescue everyone.
In the new story.
Cruella and Ursula are living happily with Lily.
Emma is a mad witch living in the forest; Neal is the anti-magic witchfinder determined to destroy her.
Regina is a bandit princess a la Snow, Robin is the Sheriff of Nottingham type figure tasked with bringing her down.
Snow as the evil queen and Charming as her henchman.
Belle is the Dark One, Rumpel is the light knight destined to kill her.
Henry convinces them to fight back against their assigned roles, ultimately allowing them to come back to Storybrooke. The New Enchanted Forest is not destroyed, and Henry decides to just let it develop as a new world naturally. After they are all back in Storybrooke, he destroys the quill, vowing that everyone has the right to choose their own fate and the Author is no more.
Back in the present, everyone remembers Rumpel is in the hospital and they rush there to find him flatlining. Belle gives him TLK, which pulls him back from the brink but also untethers the darkness from him. The Dark One heads towards Neal as the next in the bloodline, but Emma jumps in to save him.
Emma vanishes, and Belle sees the name on the dagger change. End season.
Season 5A - Camelot and Dark Swan
Not gonna lie, I have NOTHING for the Camelot arc, other than Merlin arriving and being badass and not dying, and some Dark One history.
Dark Emma is increasingly unstable and goes to Rumpel for help with controlling the darkness. Eventually she does something catastrophic but unintentional that sends Neal to the underworld (he was saving Henry) and triggers the march of the dark ones. Rumpel takes back the darkness from Emma with Belle’s blessing - he’s taking it back to save Emma and make sure no-one else experiences the pain of being the Dark One, not because he wants the power. (This is the moment when Rumpel becomes the Guardian although this is not revealed till season 7.)
Together, Merlin and Rumpel stop the march of the dark ones (combined power of the Dark One and the Light One).
The usual suspects decide to go on a road trip to the Underworld to find Neal.
Season 5B - Underbrooke
Hades is not a villain. Persephone’s a bit of a trickster (she’s a bit bored and wants to liven things up a bit), but Hades is a neutral overseer sworn not to interfere. The drama comes from the characters trying to get to grips with things, there’s no real villain in this half-season.
Although I do want to have an episode entitled ‘Ghosts of Villains Past’ guest-starring Cora, Pan, Zelena and Maleficent (all the villains who died in Storybrooke so far - potentially also Cruella since I don’t know what happens to her and Ursula at the end of 4B...).
Hades gives them a compass to help them navigate the underworld and find Neal. It will point to Rumpel’s son, he says. It immediately points to Belle. “It’s not wrong, it just takes the path of least resistance.” This is how we find out that Belle is pregnant with Gideon.
Neal is found and everyone is returned to Storybrooke safe and well having done a lot of character introspection.
During this season, Neal and Emma and Robin and Regina get their act together and couple up properly, and there are various relationship difficulties to be worked through in...
Season 6 - Gideon and Black Fairy
In the Past. The Blue Fairy, seeking to become the ultimate Good Being, uses a spell to separate her light and dark halves. The dark half, the Black Fairy, is banished to a realm of Darkness, but Blue wants to destroy her completely. Likewise, Black wants to destroy her light half. Both realise that the key to destroying the other is the sacrifice of a child born of both light and dark. This child is Gideon. (This also leads to some hilarity as the Blue Fairy is very concerned to know when Gideon was conceived - if he was conceived during the brief period when Rumpel wasn’t the Dark One back in 5A, then he’ll be of no use to her.)
In the Present. Black Fairy escapes the Dark Realm, bringing Hyde with her. Hyde begins to recreate the serum that split him off from Jekyll.
Regina uses Jekyll’s serum to split off her dark half, the Evil Queen.
Belle is visited by a strange figure in her dreams who warns her about the darkness. Belle thinks that the darkness he refers to is Rumpel’s darkness, but she actually, you know, talks to him about it. Rumpel and Belle dreamwalk to meet the strange figure, who reveals himself to be Gideon and that this is the only way he can speak to them freely.
Blue accelerates Belle’s pregnancy in the hope that Belle will give birth at the convent and she can steal Gid for her own purposes, but it backfires - she ends up giving birth in the pawnshop with only Rumpel and Henry present.
Black steals Gideon and takes him to the Dark realm to prime him as her weapon of mass destruction. Shortly after Gid’s birth and kidnap, he returns as an adult and starts wreaking havoc.
Belle and Rumpel travel to the Dark realm to save baby Gid before he can grow into evil adult Gid. Regina and the Evil Queen go with them. Whilst in the Dark Realm, Regina realises she can’t separate herself from her bad deeds, she can only try to atone for them, and she rejoins with the Evil Queen. In the Dark Realm, Rumpel and Belle are confronted by their own Dark Halves (Dark One and Lacey), but emerge triumphant and save baby Gid.
Blue and Black are forced to merge back together and are defeated. The series ends with a bunch of happy endings - Belle and Rumpel are happy with little Gid, Robin and Regina are together and Regina is pregnant (with the baby who will go on to become Margot in season 7), and Neal and Emma are happy together.
We end with a flashforward to 20 years later with Lucy arriving on Henry’s doorstep.
Season 7 - soft reboot
This season focuses primarily on the next generation alongside adult Henry making up the main cast. Regina and Rumpel are the only recurring characters from the previous seasons, but most of the others will guest at some point.
An eighteen year old Henry decides to travel to the New Enchanted Forest that was created by the Author in season 4B, to see how the new characters are getting on. He meets and falls in love with Rapunzel (still Jacinda, she’s just not Cinderella in this setting), and the Rapunzel-Gothel story takes centre stage. Tiana and Tilly are also here because they’re awesome. Rounding out the rest of the main cast are the now adult Gideon, Roland, and Margot.
Gothel casts the curse to bring everyone to Hyperion Heights from the New Enchanted Forest. Everyone in other realms is unaffected.
Robin, Regina, Rumpel and Belle are all in the NEF at the time of the curse being cast - they were called in by Henry, Gideon and Margot to help with the Gothel problem.
The curse splits up the couples - Regina and Rumpel are in HH, but Robin and Belle are elsewhere in the Land Without Magic, so we don’t see them as regularly. Lucy has to convince everyone to go on a road trip to find them.
(There is NO. TIME. TRAVEL.)
During this season the idea of the Guardian is mooted - Rumpel is already the guardian after the events of 5A, he just doesn’t realise until the powers are at rest and he’s mortal again. Belle and Rumpel have been travelling the realms to find the Guardian. At some point during their travels, they find Tilly.
Tilly is Hook’s daughter in the Land of Untold Stories (call back to season 4A). She is in the care of an unscrupulous guardian after Hook has been presumed drowned. He’s actually gone through a portal to NEF. Tilly is the Little Match Girl. Rumpel and Belle rescue and adopt her and she grows up alongside Gideon.
(Gideon’s traumatic pregnancy and birth mean Belle and Rumpel are unable to have any more biological children.)
At the end, Tilly meets up with Hook and has a Railway Children ‘MY DADDY’ moment after the curse is broken. She still sees Belle and Rumpel as her parents, but she’s glad to have her birth dad back in her life as well.
Gideon is Weaver’s detective partner which leads to much hilarity when Lucy tries to convince them that they’re father and son.
The curse is broken, everyone is reunited, and everyone gets a happy ending.
Gideon and Roland end up in a relationship together, as do Tilly and Margot, and Tiana and Hook look like they’re headed that way too. (Got to pair the spares!)

I was the anon who sent the ask about cs, and you actually addressed some of the major arguments i've seen - being with hook turned emma from a strong, independent woman into just a love interest, hook pursued emma with no reciprocated feelings, and that he never really redeemed himself. I've also seen arguments that cs is abusive, which i've seen to some extent in anti-kataang posts. i try not to dive too deep into the anti tag for my own sanity but these are some of the main things i've seen

ok, sorry, i was just caught up in the euphoria of reminiscing about my captain swan feelings that for a moment there i lived in a world where the Anti CS Brigade didn’t exist. but no, yeah, i know exactly what you’re talking about and honestly i think i just......blocked 90% of it from my mind because so many of those arguments were so vitriolic and widespread but also baseless, like...
gods, ok, here we go. anon you have activated my dormant ouat wordvomit processors and idk if i’ll be able to shut up any time soon but i have A Lot Of Thoughts Here, and also a lot of really bad memories cause ye gods, the ouat shipping wars of the days of yore were vicious.
ANYWAY, like, the vast majority of these arguments came from the ‘swan queen nation’, which is where you can trace a lot of super toxic wlw ship stans back to--just for a little context, but clexa and supercorp both had their roots in swan queen, among other ships, but those are the Big Three i always go back to because what they have in common is ‘the main character of the series is explicitly abused/treated horribly by another woman and for some reason the shippers go nuts over this pairing and will insist the show is queerbaiting them if this specific pairing is not made canon’. and swan queen stans, in particular, had it out for captain swan, because they were incredibly insistent about regina and emma being in love, and naturally the existence of emma’s romantic arc with killian threatened that.
as a result, they quite literally made shit up.
it’s funny (not ‘funny ha ha’ but like funny depressing), because a lot of what they accused CS of is actually shit that happened explicitly on screen with regina and emma. they claimed that emma was no longer strong or independent because she fell in love with killian, while ignoring the fact that she’d become a literal doormat for regina’s many abuses (there are so many things regina did to emma even after her alleged redemption which, if she weren’t being so coddled by the narrative, emma would never have let her get away with--like blaming her for saving the life of a woman regina had murdered in the past, or like telling emma to her face that she wanted to tear killian’s throat out because he managed to come back from the underworld while the man regina loved stayed dead) because, for some reason, they interpreted emma being happy and no longer closed off to the people she loved, choosing to let down the walls she’d built up over a lifetime of trauma as her being ‘reduced to a love interest’ which just did not happen.
like, factually, straight up, emma was every bit as badass while dating killian as she was back in season 1. the only difference is, in season 1 emma didn’t trust anyone, she was closed off, she had a million walls built high around her by trauma, and she wasn’t willing to let anyone in because she believed that if she did then she’d only be traumatized again when they inevitably left. by season 4, when she started officially dating killian, many of those walls had come down, she was happier and healthier, she was falling in love and she was letting herself be in love, she had her parents, her son, the whole town full of people she loved. she was fucking happy, but she wasn’t happy with the right love interest, so swan queen shippers insisted they wanted ‘season 1 emma back’. because they would rather emma be miserable so they could interpret her antagonism with regina as closeted gay pining, than have her dare to be happy with a man and a family that didn’t include regina.
as to the other claims, while hook did make his feelings for emma clear once he realized he felt them, the ball was in her court almost completely. he made comments, told her how he felt, said things like ‘when i win your heart, and i will win it, it will be because you want me’ where the clear emphasis was on emma’s feelings--he believed she had some feeling for him, but he wanted anything between them to be because it was what she wanted. emma initiated every explicitly romantic interaction. killian made a flirty comment, which he was wont to do, and which she could easily have brushed off--instead, she grabbed him by the coat and yanked him into a kiss which lasted far longer than it needed to if all she wanted to do was make a point. (sorry, that scene is just burned into the brain of every CS shipper, i know it literally by heart lmfao) he made it clear that if she wanted him he would be there, but i she didn’t he wasn’t going to push her. he followed her through an entire damn portal into the past because he wanted to help her, because he’d go anywhere for her--to the end of the world, or time--but emma was the one who invited him to dinner with her family. emma was the one who noticed he hadn’t come in yet, and went to see him. emma was the one who kissed him, initiating their relationship.
like @storynightlight said in the replies to the last ask you sent, a majority of the important milestones in killian and emma’s relationship were initiated by emma. she was the one constantly progressing their relationship, it went entirely at her pace in large part because one damaged soul recognizes another, and killian had been through enough trauma in his long (long, long) life to understand that emma needed to work things through on her own terms. he wanted to be part of her life, but it had to be when she was willing to let him in. and he was perfectly content to wait for her to be ready.
as far as the ‘abuse’ claims go, that was honestly just straight up fabrication on the part of swan queen shippers mostly, which is intensely ironic considering the state of emma and regina’s ‘friendship’ for literally the entire damn series. most of them referenced things that happened while emma and killian were enemies (they called their sword fight ‘abuse’, which like.... i’m sorry but two people on opposite sides of a violent conflict having a fight is not abuse, and incidentally that’s an argument that zutara gets hit with too, to this day, clearly words don’t actually mean things anymore), and ignored the fact that killian’s behavior changed as his redemption arc progressed. he didn’t become a good upstanding citizen overnight, but he did feel remorse for his prior bad actions and the harm he caused, he went to great lengths to make up for that harm when and where he could, and he tried to be as good a man as he possibly could in later seasons, even when circumstances (like, oh, gold having possession of his heart and using it to control him, which anti CSers also blamed him for, go figure) made that nearly impossible.
meanwhile, as late as season 6, regina was still blaming emma for everything that went wrong in her life. regina happily browbeat emma about everything she ‘stole’ from her for basically the entire series. regina, in the context of their friendship after her alleged redemption, was constantly verbally and emotionally abusive to emma--and yet that behavior was completely overlooked, or deemed ‘pining’ or some other obvious evidence of romantic feelings, by swan queen shippers who would prefer to claim emma was being abused by her caring and loyal boyfriend who constantly believed in her even when she had trouble believing in herself. (incidentally, it truly is incredibly rich of regina stans (and rumple stans, a lot of them say this too) to claim that killian never redeemed himself, when regina is the one with a vault full of hearts she never returned to their proper owners, and regina is the one who murdered someone emma cared about and never confessed to it, let alone apologized for it; graham died in emma’s arms while regina crushed his heart, and it was never once brought up again. regina got away with it scott free, and it is just one on a list of crimes she literally never expressed even the slightest bit of remorse for, let alone tried to atone for. yet killian is the one who ‘never redeemed himself’ mmhmmm ok sure jan.)

THANK YOU THOUGH!!! i haven’t talked about captain swan or even really reminisced much in a while, and i miss them a lot, so it was nice to dive back into my Feelings and remember so much of what i loved about them! i may do a rewatch soon >.> it’s ok if i just skip 4b except the finale and then turn it off immediately after emma and killian’s reunion at the end and pretend the entire show ended there, right????
