“how would it work if Cybertronians had disabilities” “What if there were disabled Cybertronians”
THERE ARE
THERE ARE
loosing my mind at how some things that are So good can be So niche why can’t we just be a hivemind
Just one example, my favorite example, is:
Tumblr media
Shattered Glass Soundwave!!!
Tumblr media
He’s gone through Multiple reformats varying between with his consent and,,, not. The latest of which took place when they didn’t have many materials
So they used half earth metals half Cybertronian ones
As it turns out? Those two things don’t mix very well. His joints are Horrible. They lock up randomly, the worst of which being the door to his tape deck.
He physically isn’t able to dock his cassettes reliably because they might get stuck in there.
What does he do to fix this? So glad you asked!! He has his own assistive aids, in this case: a portable external carrying case
It was made and personalized to work specifically for him and his situation
Tumblr media
I love him

A lot of mini-bots (and quite a few other bots) have what might be considered neurodivergent traits (or have been confirmed as such), and I wonder if certain frame types or classes --or Cybertronians in general-- might have physically type-specific processor structures which allow for greater diversity of thought, and if some frame types or spark types might be more or less likely to have or develop neurodivergent traits
We know the Quintessons fucked with the Well of All Sparks in the Aligned Continuity which had unknown effects, and in IDW 1 given the spark as the core of a person's individual spirit (for lack of any better phrasing), it would make sense for Cybertronian sparks to imbue individual personality etc. while the processors are physical hardware with software flexibility to permit and adapt to those unique aspects of self
For example, in the continuities where spark development influences protoform development and therefore what type of frame a bot might ultimately have, it is still simultaneously possible to alter a frame to some degree with armour changes, mass manipulation, etc. (and in most continuities, alt-modes can be altered as well, to at least some degree within the range of someone's core specs)
But the processor and spark are the two things that generally (although we have seen some exceptions to this) cannot be physically altered without incurring significant damage-- Making them some of the few constant components in a species designed to physically change
Sparks have significant individual variation in terms of the personality etc. that evolves from each unique spark, so perhaps processors have some physical elements designed to best accommodate a certain frame type, while also allowing for individual experiences and perception etc. to form unique thought pathways for each individual -- This would allow for any Quintesson or Functionism-related frame alterations or requirements, while also still enabling a spark to produce a unique person as it forms and as experiences accumulate
Sort of like genetics vs epigenetics in human beings; Some things are physical and structural, but some things are informed by environment, experience, etc.
It's interesting that we do seem to see a lot of mini-bots specifically who might fall into a neurodivergent category or exhibit behaviours or thought process that might reasonably fall under the category, but of course it's not universal so there is still greater variation
Although characterisation varies from series to series, here's a couple examples:
Cliffjumper tends to have impulse control problems that are sometimes similar to ADHD impulse control problems, and he sometimes has difficulty prioritising or hyperfixates on one aspect of a situation, leading him to reach the wrong conclusion or focusing on the slightly wrong thing; He also struggles to manage frustration. This could all be related to something similar to executive dysfunction, as it commonly manifests in humans with ADHD.
Bumblebee seems to be conflict-avoidant to some degree in most continuities, and aside from that being part of his friendly nature and kind disposition, it might also hint at something similar to rejection sensitive dysphoria, or a greater sensitivity and emotional response to perceived interpersonal conflict or perceived failure. Some versions of Bumblebee have particularly struggled when faced with high stakes/high risk of failure scenarios, and he has a tendency to internalise blame, directing it towards himself even when a failure is not necessarily his fault or even truly a failed mission. This is often comorbid with Autism and ADHD in humans, but it can also exist on its own.
It's not just mini-bots; Misfire canonically has ADHD in IDW 1, Geomotus in IDW 2 is Autistic and his neurodivergency is even highlighted by other characters, and so on.
So all of this (and how it might work) varies from continuity to continuity, but I just like thinking about how neurodivergent bots do exist, and how that happens and how it manifests and how it is perceived by others and by society at large is interesting
In IDW 2, neurodivergency seems to be viewed in a more understanding and positive light. But in IDW 1, neurodivergency may be viewed in a more ableist way under the Functionist system, and in the Aligned Continuity, perhaps neurodivergency is seen as a potential indication of Quintesson alteration of the Well or of the individual themselves (this would depend on a bot's age).
We don't have too many details on Cybertronian medicine in general, but it's interesting to think about!
It's 8 AM I'm gonna go have a tea now lol

Ok so cabbage patch Cybertron. Robots grow in the planet crust, pop out, make their way into civilization. But HOW do they know where civilization is? Presumably this is how it works, right?
My theory is that, upon being newly animated, they have some kind of instinctual ability to locate other transformers. Idk maybe it's just a vibration that large groups (as in a city) of them give off when they're all together. Additionally I theorize that this ability must eventually taper off and vanish. They aren't homing pigeons, I don't believe they have this ability in "adulthood."
So this ties into Feral Child Orion in this way: if this signal is built in to every newly-forged Cybertronian, why and how are there bots that end up trapped in the wastes and never make it into town? Surely it's not that uncommon for bots to spawn quite a distance from a city.
Theory: in cases where bots are stranded out in the wilderness (no doubt rare, but I highly doubt Orion is the only one in Cybertronian history) there must be some physical handicap (blindness, ambulatory disability) preventing them from making it to civilization before this homing signal wears off. While I think physical disability upon spawning is not impossible in their society I do think it's probably pretty uncommon (just by virtue of their birth being less weird and chromosomy than human gestation). I further speculate that the odds of being both a) an unusually far distance from civilization and b) physically disabled is low and therefore why the Feral Cybertronian count is not very high.
And basically this is a long explanation for saying that I headcanon that Orion had, like, a club foot or something similar and that is why he was stuck surviving out in the wastes.
I spend too much time speculating on Cybertronian life cycle mechanics. I also like the idea that the eyes of Cybertronian youth glow like cartoon characters in a dark room. Evolutionary crutch to help the young navigate in their journey to civilization?? Idrk, I just think it's a cool idea lol.

Considering all the shenanigans that happen in every iteration where Autobot-Decepticons duke it out on Earth and they can connect to the Internet... I am legitimately surprise neither piss off a hacker.
At best, clashes between both sides result in minor property damage alongside disturbing the peace. You know that's saying something if this is the preferred option. Plus the whole planet is caught in the crossfire when you take groundbridges and airships into account.
There are people smart enough to hack government systems so whose to say a Cybertronian is safe? A spiteful technical genius could load up a virus where everybot affected feels the dreadful pain of menstruation. Why upload a kill switch when you can be petty as fuck with period cramps?
Even more savage if the hacker has a countermeasure where trying to remove the virus just upgrades it. To what? How about stimulating the pain women feel going through childbirth. There are machines that programmed to do it like in this clip from Impractical Jokers where Q gets strapped to this device for his punishment.
Offender starts at level one as there are 8 stages. Every attempt increases the intensity by a stage. Pretty sure the 2nd or 3rd stage is enough to make one submit.
Probably the most embarrassing(for Cybertronians) yet hilarious(for the hacker) way to end a war. Both sides have to play nice if they want this 'feature' disabled. It's easy to flip it back on in seconds so no psyches.
Humans are bloody space orcs. We come in many flavors with spite and pettiness being some. To do something like this is possible.

Imagine if the first human that Cybertronians met had an invisible disability of some kind, and they all think that humans are kind of fucked up. This is until they contact other humans, and then they find out that no, humans don't regularly faint if they get up too fast that one just has an iron deficiency.
Feel free to add to this y'all. I encourage it.

- Don't get angry if I'm not willing to write fem characters, I'm a guy, and I tend to stick with trans content, M/M, or gender neutral, but I'm leanent but respect my boundaries.
Slightly iffy:
- death of parents (I recently lost my mother in an accident so please be aware I that things one's sometimes I won't do due to my own feelings on these fics, while other time I may because it gives me comfort)
I enjoy making silly little one shots or even just sweet little things. I will eventually do up a master list for links once I make more stuff. (Pretty much anything you can think of up that alley I'm more than happy to do)
If you want a request of one who's not on the list, please submit it. These are just all the ones I can remember off the top of my head, people enjoy.
Ps I love writing silly little things too outside of the fics and even enjoy making art to go along with them when I feel up to drawing.
So nothing is too silly ask away over all the strange little things you want to know.

A mutual beneficial relationship between cybertronians and humans is humans innate ability to perceive the uncanny before a any warning signs are pinged by cybertronian pattern recognition systems
ouugghhhh the idea that Cybertronians don't really have an "uncanny valley" sense is both very likely and very terrifying in the context of having some kind of malevolent mimicking creatures around them. Because why would they? Their species is incredibly diverse, and ones form is not necessarily an indication of danger. Meanwhile, humans, while coming in a variety of shapes, colours, sizes, ect, all generally retain the same shape and phenotypic traits (two eyes, arms and legs mirror each other, all our facial features are in the same place, ect, ect) with obvious exceptions like people with disabilities. However, seeing something that almost ticks off those boxes but doesn't quite hit the mark makes our alarm bells go off. Humans and Cybertronians are both species that excel in mimicry and adaptation, albeit in different ways, but Cybertronians never experienced a species that was both close enough to their own to almost fool them while simultaneously being a threat. Its a weak point, and predators on Earth will eat you alive if you show them a weak point they can exploit.
So yeah, bring your squishy lil buddies with you, because they can see what you cannot.

Aching Scars
I came across this headcannon that all the TFP bots have some sort of disability or injury that bothers them. As you might expect I felt the need to expand on the thought a little bit. And don't worry, it ain't all doom and gloom, after all I am a sucker for fluff.
Arcee
Arcee, despite her aggressiveness, has managed to avoid serious injury for most of the war, as such her problems lay not in body, but in mind.
She suffers from extreme PTSD from the loss of so many of her partners, it has led her to pull away from others and keep to herself.
Thankfully upon coming to earth and being assigned as Jack's guardian she lightens up again, content in knowing that she has a chance to try again as a protector once more.
She still has bad night terrors and occasionally has mental breakdowns thought, even if she is generally good at hiding it.
When the team do manage to see through her attempts at hiding her condition they do their best to comfort her in little ways.
Bad days usually end with the team watching a movie together, keeping Arcee from focusing too much on her own dark thoughts.
Arcee is particularly fond of romance films, not that she will ever admit it aloud.
Bulkhead
While no bot comes out of a war unscathed mentally, Bulkhead is by far the most mentally stable of the Cybertronian half of the team.
However that does not mean he is in pristine condition. His joints in his knees and knuckles are unfortunately rather stiff and painful from his many long years enduring hostile environments.
He does his work regardless of the pain, he has long since learned to tune it out for the most part.
But on days where the weather is off, his joints end up becoming near unbearable.
He usually plays it off with a joke or two but the team notices and does not hesitate to do something about it.
Optimus puts Bulkhead on groundbridge duty during those days, and the rest of the team ask him to handle minor tasks on the computer in order to keep him off his pedes while not damaging his pride.
Miko almost always ropes Bulkhead into having a spa day with her on such days. He tries to object but succumbs to her pleading in the end.
When the team return from their various missions they don't mention the almost comical sight of Bulkhead resting with pillows over his optics as the bright pink paint on his servo tips dries.
Wheeljack
He isn't one to hang around the team much, but when he does drop by, occasionally his ADHD rears its helm.
On such days he is fidgety, ready for a fight and eager to get into trouble.
In order to keep him from driving Ratchet to commit a murder, the team enact game nights whenever he comes round, even if he isn't having an off day.
Twister, UNO, Video games are the primary activities of the team game nights.
Wheeljack is incredibly competitive and always does a little dance when he wins.
His scrap eating grin when he absolutely demolishes Bulkhead and Bumblebee in racing games oozes with smugness.
His competitiveness has caused more than a few half hearted fights to break out over the true victor in a game, but no one really minds as it allows everyone to blow off steam.
In the end, even if he is a bit much at times, the team wouldn't have it any other way.
After all it wouldn't be the same if there wasn't a fight to break up, or cry of victory to be heard as Wheeljack gets far too into the game for his own good.
Smokescreen
Smokescreen hasn't seen much action due to the relative security of his previous station at Iacon, as such he only has one, thankfully temporary problem.
A few too many hits to the helm and then his stasis locked journey to earth have thrown his recharge cycles out of whack.
While his body readjusts and repairs the damage to his processors he is stuck dealing with the ever present threat of passing out at any moment.
He can usually sense the forced recharge a few minutes before it knocks him out cold and can groundbridge out of a fight before it happens, but around base he tends to not notice the signs before it is too late.
He often passes out while in the middle of an activity, thankfully there is nearly always someone there to catch him and lay him down on the floor somewhere until he comes back online.
The children have capitalized on his random naps and have gone out of their way to 'beautify' poor Smokescreen's armor while he is recharging.
More than once he has woken up with a Sharpe mustache on his face and silly little doodles on his armor.
If Optimus comes by while he is recharging, the Prime always moves him somewhere more comfortable and covers him with a sheet of some sort to tuck him in. (Optimus can't help his fatherly instincts)
Smokescreen loves it.
It still scares the scrap out of Ratchet though when Smokescreen just suddenly collapses on the floor in forced recharge.
Bumblebee
Bumblebee's most obvious injury is his torn out voice box.
Over the years since its loss the pain from the injury has lessened significantly.
It causes him discomfort on occasion but only when he attempts to speak beyond the capacity of his prosthetic voice box.
However after the loss and subsequent restoration of his T-cog, he has new pains to deal with.
Some days the organ will cramp up or freeze, the damage inflicted when it was removed causing transformation to be agonizing or outright fail altogether (thought the latter option has only occurred a handful of times)
On those days Bumblebee struggles a lot with his self esteem. He hates being useless and babied more than anything else. (except perhaps Megatron)
The children will often rope him into playing video games with them to cheer him up.
The rest of the team will play lob ball with him, or if the weather doesn't permit it, they will wrestle or attempt to play human games.
Ratchet may make energon goodies if rations permit it (not that he will ever admit to it) and Optimus will snuggle with Bumblebee later to ensure he feels loved.
Ultra Magnus
Besides his prosthetic servo cramping up and being rather unreliable, Ultra Magnus only has one other noticeable problem (not counting his stiffness)
He suffers from nearly every Anxiety disorder in the book, the horrors of his time on the front lines doing less than stellar things for his mental health
Neither Autobot or Deception were particularly virtuous during the height of the great war.
There were times when Ultra Magnus was forced to commit acts that went directly against his moral code, times when civilians and noncombatants were cut down in order to complete a mission.
It haunts him, it is why he sticks to the rules so closely. He never again wants to be in a situation where he is forced to choose between innocents and the mission.
He has episodes sometimes, generally when he hears about human conflicts and the acts of the Decepticons.
He gets extra clingy with Optimus during those episodes and is far more erratic, getting angry and upset far more easily when missions require conflict.
He stays by Optimus's side throughout his episodes, comforting himself in the presence of the closest bot he has to a brother.
Optimus kindly doesn't comment on it and often sits with Ultra Magnus to discuss trivial things, giving him a sense of normalcy.
Ultra Magnus appreciates it more than he will ever be able to admit to Optimus.
Ratchet
Ratchet is a melting pot of body pains, unmaintained plating, and an unholy mix of Paranoia and OCD.
The mech can't get a good night's recharge if all his tools aren't up to snuff. (You never know when a Decepticon might blow someone's arm off)
And even when he does lay down on his berth with the intent to recharge his protoform starts itching furiously and he remembers everything that could and has gone wrong and...he just... can't sit still.
So he gets up, checks his tools again, wanders around giving every bot in base a once over just to be sure they are still alive, then he goes back to his berth and gets like an hour of recharge time in before he is up doing the whole thing again.
Usually Optimus (an insomniac of the highest order) will help him settle down after around the third time he gets up again.
Some nights though Ratchet can't recharge at all, despite Optimus's best efforts, and he is the worst person to be around the next day.
On those days everyone gives him space, with Wheeljack and Bulkhead taking extra care not to irritate him lest they get a wrench thrown at them.
His aching everything also tends to act up when he doesn't rest, and so some bot will usually bring Ratchet a cube of painkiller laced energon as a peace offering.
It is accepted with slight appreciation.
Optimus Prime
Oh boy. Optimus is likely the worst off out of everyone.
He has injuries from centuries earlier that he still hasn't fully seen to, and he has all sorts of unresolved trauma that he swears he will get around to dealing with eventually when Ratchet prods.
He has all sorts of issues but the most notorious is the depression that loves to make an appearance whenever things get a bit rough.
And let it be known that when Optimus is depressed he gets extra self sacrificial.
Due to his sheer size and how active he is in battles and patrols, Optimus requires far more energon than the other bots in his team.
When rations are tight he tends to skip as many meals as he can get away with without affecting his performance too much. He can't bare to watch him team, no, family suffer from hunger.
Over the years the team, mostly Ratchet and Bumblebee, have learned to notice when Optimus begins skipping out on refueling and have developed methods to get him back into the correct mindset.
Generally if they catch him attempting to avoid meals they will drag him into the main part of the base where everyone hangs out and hand him a cube of energon and tell him to eat it, right there, right at that moment.
No slight of hand is possible for Optimus when the whole base have eyes and optics on him.
He always relents and consumes the given energon with no small amount of guilt.
The team know he feels bad consuming so much energon and so on those days they make sure to give him a few extra compliments (something Smokescreen is more than eager to participate in)
At the end of those bad days Bumblebee will recharge with Optimus in his berth, just to remind him that everything will be alright.
Optimus struggles to hold back a sob whenever Bumblebee utters 'I love you Sire' on those days.

Would you mind telling us about more disabled Cybertronians?
Oh boy would I
For this list let’s focus on physical disabilities, both because they’re the most commonly dismissed by the fandom and bc if we try to cover everything we’d be here all day (that can be another list, maybe, if y’all want)
This isn’t going to be comprehensive bc I’m tired but!! I will aim for a broad variety of examples nonetheless
Bumblebee - You all know him, you all love him. He’s the most obvious and most well known example of a disabled Cybertronian character.
In many iterations he is mute
Not by choice but because he lacks a voice box. Bee physically isn’t capable of speech and depending on the version has different tools to work around that. Sometimes he uses his radio to repurpose song and radio dialogue into speech, in cyberverse he also makes use of the internet for clips. In the aligned continuity (tfp and connected media) he speaks in binary, a very simplified form of language using beeps and buzzes, but still lacks a real voice and can’t form words.
In IDW he has a cane
At one point in the comics Bumblebee was shot by a human protester and as a result used a cane for a good bit of time. I haven’t had the chance to read that far into IDW yet so I’m not sure how long he had the cane for but it was enough time that it’s a solidified part of the charcaters history. I’ve seen little models of the cane for sale, to be paired with bee figures.
TFP Ultra Magnus - everyone’s favorite awkward commander, despite his popularity he’s surprisingly overlooked when it comes to this discussion
An amputee, he lost his hand
During an energon raid with wheeljack, magnus’ hand was crushed. Ratchet couldn’t save it and had to amputate, replacing it with a hooked prosthetic. I call it a prosthetic rather than replacement part because despite him being able to move it, it’s not a hand. Not in the way he had previously, and he has to relearn how to use it at all.
I think that’s an important distinction to make when discussing disability and transformers. Some bots might have only ever had one hand, or no legs, or etc but that’s always been their level of ability and since they Are robotic. Yeah they might not have the same capabilities as another bot but that’s a hard metric to go by. Seekers can fly but a grounder isn’t disabled because they can’t fly too, it’s a different standard.
WFC Shamble - far lesser known than Magnus, and reasonably so, this background character is Also missing a limb
Amputee, leg edition
His prosthetic is a lot less fancy than magnus’s, it’s a simple peg leg. Put em together and you get a pirate. Not much to say about him since i don’t know how he lost the leg, just that he did.
Shadow Striker - Most awesome lady in cyberverse. Unlike the above two, she Was able to get actual replacement parts rather than prosthetics. Despite this, she is both shown throughout the show and implied to have
Impaired mobility
Chronic pain
She was able to get replacement parts yes but they were needed because she was blown up. The limbs she was given were kinda just what the others could Find and as such are mismatched and don’t fit her very well. Her motor skills took a blow especially when it comes to combat, something she used to excel in. Her new limbs are described as unstable and prone to malfunction. The loss of mobility and implied chronic pain that come along with her situation are rough, but she makes do.
SG Soundwave - my favorite little guy, he’s in a bit of a different situation than the previous.
Bad Joints ™
His body was entirely overhauled multiple times, successfully, but the latest frame change was done with conflicting metals. Earth and Cybertronian materials clash in his joints, making them prone to getting stopped up. The most affected hinge being the one on the door to his tape deck. It is so prone to getting stuck that his cassettes refuse to dock with him at risk of getting trapped. To work around this, Soundwave has the aid of a personalized case he carries around that they dock in instead.
IDW Sunstreaker - speaking of assistive devices, this guy was (for a time) a wheelchair user! Or,, hoverchair.
Temporary,,, paraplegic? Correct me if another term fits better
Taking this moment for an aside to say hey!! Lookit that, both canes and hoverchairs are things that canonically and casually exist on cybertron!! It’s not too wild to assume there are bots out there who use them long term!! Yes both characters on this list were repaired eventually but they’re also both very popular old characters from an action based franchise and hasbro doesn’t have the balls to make something like that permanent yet. We the fandom are not hasbro. We can do whatever we damn want with our OCs. It’s canon that ur little guy can use mobility aids.
Ok, PSA over, anyway yeah Sunny’s body was basically wrecked and alpha trion was able to repair all of him except his legs. This put him in a hoverchair for a good amount of time.
Finback - he’s a con, a pirate, who developed a “metal wasting disease”
He’s on permanent life support
The disease is going to kill him eventually, and it’s explicitly stated that he’s come to terms with the idea of his death. In the meantime he’s using pretender tech, kinda like fancy armor, to reinforce himself and boost his immune system
Perceptor - for a microscope, the fact he’s got vision issues in multiple continuities is kinda ironic
He’s fully blind in cyberverse
He lost an eye in IDW
Between the two we get to see both routes taken to work with this. Adaption and technological aid. In cyberverse he uses his scope to compensate for the loss of vision Toph-style. In IDW he built himself a monocle that basically replaces the pieces that are missing.
Now we get into the uniquely Cybertronian disabilities, one’s that don’t quite translate to human conditions
Transmutate - is a beloved bot from beast wars
They can’t transform, they don’t have an alt mode
I’m hazy on the details of their character but afaik they came from a damaged stasis pod. Described as deformed and handicapped for their both their lack of an alt mode and general appearance, they are probably the oldest explicitly disabled Cybertronian character
Xaaron - from G1 is in a similar situation
He can’t transform, it would kill him
Unlike transmutate he does have an alt mode, a tank, but after thousands of years without transforming he is no longer able to. The new stress it would cause on his body would kill him.
Broadside - continuing with the subject of alt modes, this clumsy boy is a boat! That’s not a good thing.
He’s very prone to motion sickness
As you can imagine, chronic sea sickness isn’t the most helpful thing when you are the boat. This brings in the entirely new element of mobility issues that are inherent to alt modes. A bot that functions fine in root form might not in alt mode and vice versa.
Trailbreaker - is another instance of this. He’s not a fast car by any means but that doesn’t stop the fact
His frame has a very high energon cost
Possibly the least fuel efficient autobot, he’s got an outlier ability on top of it all that only further increases his required energon intake. He needs to pay more attention to his energon levels and refuel more often overall.
G1 Knockout - yes that’s right the shiny medic himself is on this list, though not for the same reason as his tfp version, g1 knockout still lives up to his name
He’s prone to fainting
A knockout in the more literal sense, he faints when he gets too excited. Fully collapses and everything. Since he’s a fall risk, his teammates take care to keep an eye on him.
Annnnd Yknow he probably should’ve been earlier in the list along with the “human-ish” issues but I’m tired, it’s late, and I’m bringing this list to a close
Im sure there are more characters that I didn’t mention but I hope this helped! Thank you for the ask

Since I’m disabled and obviously love Transformers lmao, I’m probably going to be talking a lot about disabled bots and disability in various Transformers continuities etc. a bit more than usual this month!
So, this is going to be my compilation post, to gather up everything in one spot. (Plus I’m linking some of my older posts which touch on the theme of Cybertronians and disability.)
New Posts for 2023:
TFP - Cane User Ratchet
IDW 1 - Caminus: The Disabled Titan
IDW 1 / Various - Headcanon: Hearing Disabled Megatron
Old Posts:
Various - Cybertonian Sign Language and Chirolinguistics

I love your rumble and frenzy so much, they have so much personality and character it’s refreshing in a way I can’t even describe. I also love your soundwave and would like to know more about it if you’re willing!
Thank you so so much omg! I'm so glad you like my versions of them!
SOUNDWAVE LORE DROP!
Soundwave was built in The Deck (Cybertronian city I made up for my fan continuity) and was actually not designed to be a tapedeck but rather an audio based demolition minibot, small in stature and equipped with a high powered audio system. Despite its love of art and music, it was pressured to go into the job its frame was best suited for: demolition. However, its memory, vision, and overstimulation problems meant its work was extremely dangerous and terrifying for it. Eventually, after it was nearly crushed by a collapsing scaffolding, it was taken under the wing (BAT PUN) of the cassette Ratbat to pursue data collection and entry instead. And it enjoyed this new work so much it also developed a love of collecting in general. After meeting and bonding with Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Laserbeak, it made the bold and rare (especially for a minibot) decision to get modified to function as a tapedeck after the cassettes said that they could and would help it with its disabilities even more if it decided it wanted that attachment. Later, it met Enemy and Flipsides and struggled to bond with both at first, finding Enemy to be cold and withdrawn and Flipsides seemingly actively disinterested. Eventually, they both warmed up to it though and disclosed neither of them had...great experiences with tapedecks in the past but Soundwave was not like the tapedecks they knew at all. And that they both appreciated Soundwave's deep respect for their personal space and privacy and boundaries. And it started bonding over and helping Enemy with her collections of toys and getting his help with its own. And bonding with Flipsides over a deep love of media and art and self expression. Soundwave is kind of a shithead, very much willing to join Flipsides in particular on pulling a prank or stealing shit or vandalizing things or some really petty revenge stunts, often coming up with clever plans itself. It also doesn't talk much and hardly at all to anyone outside its mix of trusted cassettes, all of whom it loves so incredibly much. Presently, it is the best data collector in the Decepticons and responsible for protecting and maintaining team communications with Flipsides.
Thanks for asking!

What are your headcanons for your holoforms of the Rescue Bots?
I have a few different headcanons for my holoforms! Just remember these are my own personal opinions, you don't have to agree 100% with them
I am going to be more specifically talking about my Cyberaligned lore, but these can also translate to general headcanons
The Holoform Headcanons
Age
So I have talked about my headcanons for their Cybertronians ages before, but these are what those ages translate to in human terms the holoforms more often then not will resemble their respective ages
Heatwave: 25
Chase: 24
Blades: 35
Boulder: 23-24
Side characters
Quickshadow: 25
Blurr: 19
Salvage: 20
Hightide: 55
Holoform Races
These are the races and ethnicities that holoforms appear as.
Heatwave: Yaqui mixed
Chase: Japanese
Blades: Indian and Black
Boulder: Samoan and Black
Side characters
Quickshadow: British and Korean
Blurr: White
Salvage: Black
Hightide: Scottish
Pronouns
What human pronouns the bots have chosen to use.
Heatwave: He/Him but doesn't care too much
Chase: He/They
Blades: They/She/He depends on mood
Boulder: He/Him
Side characters
Quickshadow: She/Her
Blurr: He/Him
Salvage: They/He
Hightide: Uses anything, does not give a fuck
Heights
The heights the holoforms generally appear at. They have control over the height of their holoforms as well as other physical features.
Heatwave: 6'2
Chase: 5'8
Blades: 6'4
Boulder: 5'4
Side characters
Quickshadow: 5'4
Blurr: 5'5
Salvage: 6'6
Hightide: 6'8
Scars
The damages they received in bot forms will appear on their holoforms.
Heatwave: Fire burn scar from training covering his back.
Chase: Minor scars from rescues. Lichtenberg scars equivalent, caused by both his outlier ability (electricity) and being STUCK BY LIGHTNING
Blades: Rescue related scars. And specifically to Cyberaligned, their shadow play scars are the most prominent scars, but they have several more from their time in the war.
Boulder: Minor rescue related scars
Side characters
Quickshadow: Many scars from the war. Has a large one crossing over her forehead and temple area.
Blurr: Some scars from rescue missions. In Cyberaligned has a prosthetic left arm from his time with M.E.C.H., as well as scars revealing the dissection he went through
Salvage: Has scars from their encounter with M.E.C.H. in Cyberaligned, however was saved early on and did not suffer much.
Hightide: Many scars from the war. Most prominent is the one over his face and chest.
Queer Orientations
TBH, Cybertronians are genetically asexual and do not have genders. But this is just fun stuff I like to think of for if they were actually humans
Heatwave: Biromantic (fem preferred)
Chase: PanAegoromantic or Cupioromantic for RB, but for Cyberaligned it is hard to categorize him within the Aro identity due to lore.
Blades: Homoromantic (aka GAY AS FUC-)
Boulder: Demi-romantic Gay
Side characters
Quickshadow: Biromantic (equal preference for fem and masc)
Blurr: Biromantic (no real preference for a certain gender)
Salvage: Homoromantic
Hightide: Apothiromantic (though does not have a strong repulsive urge)
Disabilities
Both mental and physical disabilities are included here. I did as much research as possible and only used disabilities I am knowledgeable in for this.
Heatwave: Generalized anxiety. Some back problems in Cyberaligned as he used to work in the mines
Chase: Autism
Blades: PTSD, Autism, ADHD, generalized anxiety, depression
Boulder: Autism, and if he were to remain within his caste he would have self image issues similar to Bulkhead as well as muscle issues as I have him in the construction caste
Side characters
Quickshadow: PTSD, bipolar depression
Blurr: ADHD. In Cyberaligned has a prosthetic/replacement left arm and PTSD
Salvage: Generalized anxiety and PTSD symptoms after M.E.C.H. encounter
Hightide: PTSD, depression, generalized anxiety
I do have some updated art of their holoforms coming out at some point, I have been busy with zines though so I have not been able to work on it. But soon y'all will see their updated looks!

random starscream hc but he has a harpy/siren scream, which is why his name is starscream. it can disable cybertronians and render their frames useless, and kill humans. he can also control his enemies with his scream if he is able to control it well enough.
however, literally no one is immune to it. not even decepticons, and it can kill anyone in his vicinity so it made no sense from a way perspective so he doesn't use it anymore. he can scream normally, which he does all the time.

do you have any aus for tfa prowlbee?
- bumblebee loves to leave Prowl a bowl of flowers.
-bumblebee dug up a large space behind the plant, completely destroyed the concrete and left nothing but dirt. The others were so shocked and upset since this was so out of character even for Bee until the bot held out bowls that had tiny plants inside them and said “surprise!”
- prowl will vehemently deny it but he really did leak a little from his optics when Bee gave him a bowl of one of his favorite flowers that couldn’t even be found in Detroit.
- Bee goes through periods of needing to recharge a lot more than the average bot since he was emerged a malfunction. Its the cybertronian version of disability. He doesn’t like bringing it up. He only told Bulkhead and Ratchet knows because he has access to his medical files. So when Bee needs to recharge and take circuit and joint numbing energon Ratchet gives an excuse for Bee to be benched and Bulkhead is usually with him.
- prowl decided to snoop and learned about this. So he just created a soft blanket nest filled with pillows in his hab suite then went into Bee’s berth, picked up the yellow mini and set him in the nest only to tell him, “this is our hab suite now.”
-bee didn’t have the mental energy to question plus he was kinda high on numb relief and his frame was finally feeling safe without pain so he just went with it.
-prowl doesn’t like bots touching bee so he gently moves Bee closer to him on the other side without batting an optic. If they bring it up he will flat out say, “do not touch him, i don’t like it.”
- bee does this thing where he flirts with Prowl using his door wings and completely tunnel visions prowl not at all noticing others looking at him.
- prowl has admired Bee doing this while chopping a bots neck cable knocking them out without so much as a glance from Bee.
- i hope this makes sense
