"What are you look at Hod Rod?"
"You, Starscream."
wip - when it's finished it'll have a city pop/retro vibe....also random ship trivia for these two starscream is the only one who is allowed to call rodimus hot rod, and he actually prefers that. if starscream uses roddy's full name (rodimus prime) he knows he's in trouble.

You know, despite the fact that Megatron himself is an ample fighter, one thing that always interests me about him and Starscream is that, Starscream was the one who was built as a weapon, not Megatron. Starscream was the one who was created for war and bloodshed, and created to be used by Cybertron for war. He is a weapon, regardless of what side he is on, Starscream is a weapon by nature. Whereas, Megatron is not.
When I write post war for these two, it’s always something Starscream comes to terms with. Megatron’s coding at the end of the day, when he sheds his weapons and becomes peaceful, doesn’t designate him to be a fighter or to be violent. Starscream, however, deals with that coding post war time. His weapons are still hot, his mind is still waiting for another war, it’s hard for him to be peaceful because the only reason he ever existed was to fight.
In a way he needed the war because it gave him a purpose. When megatron is an autobot, his frame has no need for the war. He can finally be quiet and peaceful and go about his writing. Starscream doesn’t know what to do. Even in times of peace, when he’s supposed to be calm, he has anxiety. Anxiety for another war, anxiety for the fact that he’s useless. And he didn’t want this. He didn’t want to be a weapon and to be naturally violent…it just happens.
He tries to tell Megatron but he also knows biologically, Megatron cannot understand. Really, no one can understand.

I think for all the work Steve Blum has done to bring Starscream to life, it is shitty to pass him up for a celebrity voice actor

I love that in any other circumstance Megatron showing up in an episode would be a good thing but in What Dwells Within hes a threat
His appearance is telegraphed as something coming to attack Starscream and Hashtag
Hes more shadowy and he looms way more than in other episodes and his looming comes with an implicit threat
This is someone that the Terans know and trust and care about but because Starscream is there his presence turns into something completely different because to Starscream he ISN'T someone that means safety and care
I just
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH

With regard to the theory that Starscream is already the leader of the Decepticon movement, or at least the movement before the Decepticons became a thing, I hope for two outcomes. 1.) It actually shows him to be a good leader that people look up to, and one that actually has the sense to run a revolution. It's important because even tho Starscream is a seeker, it shows that bots on various levels of privilege are still impacted by the system, especially if they are outliers and speak out. And we know starscream will speak out and yell at everyone if he doesn't like the way things are going. Also...there has been, more or less, some fandom view on Starscream that his position of privilege doesn't really give him the right to speak on oppression or to actually exist as an oppressed person; at least that is some things I've seen. Especially when people have discussed his dynamic with other Decepticons. I think him being the Decepticon leader before Megatron would be interesting and would show how oppression in Cybertron harms everyone, and how even if he *is* or was an official Seeker, he is still ultimately hurt and oppressed by the system and wants to speak out.
2.) I really hope that he and Megatron get a long and that if they join forces/work together, it isn't built on betrayal or violence, but an actual mutual understanding. A lot of people have been leaning toward the idea that Megatron is going to take the leadership position from Starscream, which I mean in a way would be poetic justice lmao. But I also want Starscream to be portrayed as a competent, yet very militant and violent Decepticon leader that Megatron is inevitably going to be able to help, balance out, and then earn the respect of all the Decepticons and call himself the leader, along with Starscream. Alternatively, Starscream is leading the soon to be Decepticons and he and Megatron create the movement together. What I'm trying to say is that while it's the allure of their dynamic, it would be really cool to see them divert from trying to kill each other and actually forming the movement together or rather, Starscream being leader of the movement, Megatron earning his respect and the respect of the others, and then he is naturally able to be seen as a leader figure. It would be such a different twist and i'd love it.

Ok I watched the transformers 1 trailer; WHY DO THE SEEKERS HAVE LITTLE FLY WINGS WHY, and I stg if they make starscream the villain instead of the oppressive system of cybertron I’m going to go insane

im ngl, the biggest appeal the tf1 trailer has for me rn isn't even the main cast. it's airachnid and the rest of decepticon high command that isn't megatron. like im soooo here for the cons. i cannot WAIT to see what this movie gives us.
can't wait to draw new designs too >:)

So that was actually something that I too was hoping. Maybe he isn't Decepticon leader yet, maybe it's something he and Megatron make together? Like they join forces and then they become the Decepticons after. I still think he is the leader of the unofficial Decepticon movement.
Judging by the TF ONE trailer, I wonder if Starscream is actually the Decepticon leader because it seems like he is already working closely with Soundwave and Shockwave and it seems like, at least setting/body language-wise he is their leader.

It would be such an interesting twist if Megatron actually joined the Decepticons and didn't create them. If Starscream is the leader and Megatron ends up joining them because he hears their plight and struggle and he has to appeal to Starscream or rather he is intrigued by Stascream that would be interesting.
At this point we know that Megatron isn't a leader or anything, and certainly isn't a Decepticon. This would be interesting if the Decepticons were already a very military, revolutionary group that is borderline evil, and Megatron wants to join because he believes in them. And they would be very militant if Starscream was their leader.
On the other hand, at this point Optimus would already be forming the autobots as a more peace, less violent structured organization but Megatron doesn't feel represented in that. Juust food for thought. It would be interesting to me at least if Starscream was the leader all along, and he invited Megatron to join.
And that way they balance each other out? Starscream is militant, quick to jump to violence and destruction. Megatron is level headed, but also cunning and knows when to attack. And that just makes them blend better.
I also like the idea of Starscream becoming the leader to begin with because it shows how varying levels of privileged bots are still oppressed under cybertronian society if they speak out. There were these weird posts a while ago that implied that starscream's position as a seeker made him to privileged to actual be a decepticon or face oppression and that's kinda dumb

If you don't mind me asking why didn't you ship megaop before?
ooh putting this under a cut so i don't ruin the happy mood going on
I honestly shipped it when I first got into this fandom, I was a megaop and megastarop shipper...but some megaop fans would say really weird things about megastar like call it abusive and shit on the shippers....yet they shipped megaop which was the same, so it turned me away from megaop.
and then some megaop fans who are mostly megatron fans, would be really weird and shitty about starscream and just not like him, and hate on him and stuff because the way he treated starscream was starting to get called out and they hated that...it's like they were angrier that starscream's abuse being acknowledged made megatron look bad, despite him being a villain, more than they were angry that megatron would mistreat starscream and i couldn't take that. and clearly starscream's not innocent, as I've argued but i mean...really....
and a lot of them do this thing where they are strangely overly critical on starscream and only amplify his flaws and just over do it to the point where it's not critique it's just thinly veiled hate?? and they absolutely do not do the same to megatron.
so it's like if im being honest I've been going through liking and disliking megatron a lot because of how some of his fans have spoken about starscream. and with that came me not liking megaop. but I'm starting to distance myself from his hardcore fans and I'm starting to find a new appreciation for him and with that who knows...will come megaop????
megastar is still my otp in tf but yeah lol
