My identity was that of a party girl. I never thought alcohol would ever leave my life. And it didn’t happen over night. Identity shifts don’t. They can be slow, messy and even painful. I got sober once and at first nobody could believe it when I said I didn’t drink. They thought it wouldn’t last. And one year in, just as they started to accept this new me, I had a sip of champagne and I was back on the train. Until I wasn’t. And whilst the decision felt easy I had built this fortitude from within. That held me on the path. My identity switch didn’t happen right away, it never does. I had to harness myself in for safety. I had to steer the ship towards the new identity I desired. It was only then that I could truly embody her. The new me. The girl who stayed sober for 5 years. And is now heading towards six. You can take on any identity you wish to. You just need to hold the vision with your spine, and dare to do it. You’ve got it in you. Connecting time with my favourite numbers 3333 @ 3:36am. Confused, stressed, anxious, depressed or enlightened? Which is it for you? Is it a combination? It's your mind sorting thoughts and feelings you've experienced the previous day as you've been sleeping. Why is this important and why would you care? To understand this, I believe is soul connection. Connecting soul with mind is enlightenment. Giving yourself the opportunity to make this connection, gives you the answers you are seeking. So what are you seeking? Understanding, Positive, not negative emotions? This can be described as thoughts, concepts and ideas you find too challenging to work through during the day with daily challenges we all face, so some use blockers. Blockers are drugs, alcohol, gaming, sugary foods and prescription medication. We block to protect what our mind isn’t ready to process. Thus, waking up. To be in flow state, is to be on purpose. This is your paradigm shift. All of a sudden, these once complex emotions become clear to process. Being on purpose, is clarity and organisation of the mind. It's spirituality, meeting reality. Somebody sure doesn't want to get up this morning. #thestruggleisreal But motivation is actually bullshit. It's garbage. (from the lovely Mel Robbins). I'm not motivated to get up at 5 a.m. in the morning and go to the gym to work out. But I do it anyway. And I always feel much better afterwards. I don't feel like practicing meditation and quieting my mind every day. But out of habit I do it to calm my mind and center my body. I'm not motivated to work on care plans or stay up late studying anatomy. (Trust me, I'd love to stay up and binge watch movies or shows). But I do it anyway, out of no mere habit, and the desire to always be improving, and getting better and better, and closer to higher self and fullest potential. A habit is so difficult to break because it is embedded deeply in the brain and seems to be automatic in our daily thoughts and actions. The power of habits are just phenominal. Your brain takes a great amount of energy to establish a habit and tends to hold on tightly to that. Habits determine what steps you do or don't take in life. Your habits have the power to create and form your life. Right NOW your energy is connected to how you THINK things are.   Your thoughts are pouring out into your life, similar to this image. When we write our thoughts we have the moment to edit how we may be coming across, but how often do we do this while just thinking? Our beliefs and filled with our feelings and how those close to us are bumping up against those feelings. This creates the mental home we live in. How cluttered is your mind with what others are doing, feeling, saying or how they are acting? How often are you taking a beat to ask yourself how something makes YOU FEEL? When we react to people or situations its because of a feeling we may or not be aware of. Triggers and irritations are the part of you asking you to take a beat and pay attention to something that lies beneath. Is it about the current situation or something or someone else? Our lives change because we choose to live differently no matter the circumstances. How would life unfold if we all took responsibility for the person we choose to be? Our lives become our own when we take responsibility for our actions no matter how others feel or act. Mindfulness is a habit. A simple one that will create the life you say you want by aligning your thoughts to the actions you take. Try this for the next 48 hrs STOP and take a beat when a negative though shows up and ask yourself “do I really believe this?” Try talking to yourself about the Feelings that are showing up. STOP any thought that is linked with what others should or shouldn’t be doing, focus only on YOU.
