"Another? -- Candice. That's fifteen already before this new kid. You can't--"

"What else am I supposed to do?" Candice said.

The vibes in the Champion's Villa off to the east of Snowpoint sank another few degrees. "What should you do? You know what you should do, Candice! Hire people! Get someone in to help them, not just physically, but mentally! And this one's an orphan!"

"No! No, it's fine. I'll just... I just need to give it my all and it'll--"

"Thought and Emotions-- It's ripping you up. It's been ripping you up for months. And now you have to take in this new kid-- what was her name?"

"-- Kerry. Her name is Kerry. We found her halfway to freezing to death in the snow."

"Have you asked anyone for help yet?"

"... Not yet."

"Candice!"

"-- I know! .... And she said she can't travel across the mountain yet. I figured, I'd help her get stronger."

"Or! Orrrrrrr." Maylene leaned over the table. "You can take her on a boat trip, and me and Crasher Wake can take care of her until you've hired on some people and gotten proper care together!"

"... You're right. I know you're right. Why can't I make myself see it?"

"It's fine. That's why we're a League, not A bunch of Gym Leaders. I have a few people in the Heya, and Crasher's famous for having a lot of good staff. I'll help Kerry, and we can ask around for volunteers. Okay?"

"... Yeah. Yeah! Why am I half-assing being a Gym Leader!?"

"Eh?"

"Though-- I'll need to start finding proper staff, and you're right we need to investigate the Lakefront, but..."

"-- Either way," Maylene said, "Let's get it done tomorrow."

"Hey, Kerry?" Candice called, into the dorm room. The curtains were open, but Kerry herself lay curled up on the bed, still around Li. "You have a visitor."

"What for?" She said, forlornly.

"I... Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Maylene, of Veilstone."

"-- The sumotori!?"

"Ah--- haha, yes, though that's... not really my career..."

~ ~ ~

"Hey!" Meylene scooted one of her bowls across the table to Kerry. "Eat up, we got a lot to do today."

"I already ate, though...?" Kerry said, staring at the bowl.

"Yeah, and we're going to be working hard today, too, to help ourselves and our Pokemon get stronger! That means you need energy. Which means you need food."

"Grandpa said to never have a second bowl and to always feed your Pokemon first."

"Nnn. Well, he's not wrong, but that's no excuse to neglect your own health! We have plenty for everyone!"

~ ~ ~

".... What's up? This wasn't the first sparring session where it felt like you were..."

"It's exhausting, okay? I... I've been training but there's just so much Aura around me it's--"

"Oh, you use Aura?" Maylene paused. "Let me have you and Li talk with my Lucario a bit..."

~ ~ ~

"Doing better, I see."

"Yeah! Thanks so much for showing me that. I just wish Grandpa were here."

"Your grandfather? What was he like?"

"Well. I mean-- OK. So, when I was a little younger, Grandpa started teaching me survival, and then, when I'd done that, he'd take me out to orienteer and leave me out in the woods around Acuity for a long time. One time, when this was taking me--"

"Wait, back up. Your grandfather abandoned you in the woods?"

"He knew I'd be okay!"

"He abandoned you! In the woods! That's not an okay thing to do to a child!"

"wh-- no, that's normal, that's not the point of the story--"

"So you're gonna be my exchange penpal?"

"Yeah! I really hope you keep in touch with all your friends in Veilstone. And learn to surf!"

"Haha, I'd love to do that, actually," Kerry responded, shaking the Hoenni girl's hands warmly. A slight warmth spread through her.

~ ~ ~

"I've been having more nightmares. I think it's related to Mt. Chimney."

"... Hm. I'll talk with Flannery and Liza and Tate. See what they have to say about it."

~ ~ ~

"Well, now. Yes, you will do quite nicely. As I'm sure you're already aware, given your stamps and badges, you'll need to hone those psychic abilities so that they don't drown out what you're hoping for. I can help with that. But I think we won't have as much time as you hope. Strange things are alreqady happening. I'll join you on your journey across Hoenn, but for now, let's get you a Starter and get you going."

"Are you sure? I mean. There's so much I have yet to learn--"

"No, I'm sure. You'll be perfect. Seeing it in person is a fantastic way to understand the world arond you.

"... And I really can come back at any time?"

"Always," Brawly said.

".... Then I'll go with you."

"Senri! I--"

"Oh! You're that gym trainer from Dewford, right? You're just in time. This boy wants to go out and catch his first Pokemon, but I don't have time between taking a challenge and--"

"Kerry!?"

"Satoshi!?"

"What are you doing here!?"

Wally cleared his throat.

"Ah-- yeah, of course I'll go help, if you'll loan us a Pokemon..."

Instead of my usual "Just let SS Kris/SS Ethan/Lucian kill it," I decided to give some alternate teams a try in Villa. Add some variety to my life, you know?

Caitlin Favoritism The Psychic thing was my first iteration. I wanted to get something rolling with Caitlin. And don't get me wrong, she did well enough, but I feel like this is more about Bede being disgustingly good than anything. Lucian being used again also just doesn't sit right with me for some reason. I dunno, I'll have to workshop something else with Caitlin next run. They win easy, but so much of that is Bede.

Ice Queens Irida was actually one of my go-to solutions starting out. Field effects on entry are a big deal, and she gets a whole 50% bonus damage skill at 1/5, so I'm like hey. 90% bonus damage for existing? I'll take it. It's actually 105% bonus damage, because BP Candice is also here spamming Blizzard. Glacia pulls it together, with +1 crit every time she attacks, healing under Hail, and most critically, Synchro Healing. The team is fantastic...for the short matches. Longer matches need Hail to be re-applied, or gauge goes to shit and it all falls apart. But "long match" is really just the 3v9, and you have four instances of Hail. They could absolutely clear Villa as a solo team. I actually think Glacia might be the second-best Villa sync pair in the 5* pool after Lucian. The +1 crit and Synchro Healing is divine, and she never takes more than one gauge to get things moving. Very strong performance.

Baby Children While considering Irida, I had initially thought about Lucian again, but I'm kinda sick of falling back on him all the time. My second thought was P!Dawn, before realizing the gauge issues that might cause, and that Irida likely wasn't going to appreciate that kind of support given her timer. What I landed on was the team above, but there was a brief moment where I thought...what about Summer Tate? And this led to me going actually wait, Tate's really good in this mode too. Paralysis, debuffing special defense every action, randomized buffs aplenty, Doom Desire? Tate had a lot to work with. So then I went hey. I wonder if I can get him and Liza to win. The answer is a resounding yes. Thanks to SC Shauna.

Note their HP remaining. That's because Shauna never once used a Potion. She has Double Potion MPR. Girl could easily have achieved a solo team clear with these two. Liza's able to pivot into Iron Defense at any point to get a free Giga Impact, so gauges aren't a huge concern, and Tate can throw around Paralysis and still blow apart something with Doom Desire. SC Shauna is perhaps an odd pick, given how many options have Double Potion, but my reasoning is that she has randomized team buffs. Two of them, half the time. Which means there are a lot of rolls for speed or either offense for the twins. With the Debut Regen effect, she's a very good frontline tank that doesn't worry too much about damage. Which is good because it saves healing for Liza and Tate. This one has the opposite effect of the Ice team. While Ice does well in fast matches, the children do really well on the longer fights, but due to poor initial gauges, struggle to avoid taking a bunch of damage in the short 3v3 stages. It's weird, but such is life.

Next Run I have heard the joys of SS Steven as a solution, and while I recognize how good he'd be offensively, if I use him, I want it to be for Speed. Specifically, I want to test him out with Rose. AoE Max Moves and fast-ramping sounds really, really funny.

I really want to get something working with Caitlin. Ideally, something that isn't SS Lana, though I know she's the best option. I'll have to really think about it, because truth be told, I think Caitlin might be best here as the tank, thanks to regen and Catalytic Cure.

I want to do an Adaman equivalent, but that legitimately feels like cheating.

The villa is an aristocratic residence built at the end of the XIX century upon commission by Baron Oppenheim reflecting the architectural styles of that period. In 2016, Villa Cora became part of The Leading Hotels of the World, an international collection of luxury independent hotels.

The roommates were done by a RANDOM generator. Unless we got a message from you telling us you wanted to be with a specific person or were not in the ships list - you were included in the generator.

As we get more people into the roleplay, we will update the list. If you do not see your FCs name on this list, please message us POLITELY and let us know - sometimes a name gets missed getting put into the generator. We’re human and it happens! more sinnoh league headcanons

(here’s a link to part 1)

it’s common for most of the sinnoh league members to be well versed in multiple languages — this is because, more often than not, they’re the ones traveling to other regions rather than vice versa. i don’t have any set hc’s as to if any regions speak the same languages, but i would say that the sinnoh league is likely the most versed in the language unova speaks besides their own because unova and sinnoh seem to be close (not necessarily geographically, but there is a lot of dialogue about the sinnoh region and its inhabitants in the unova games).

i would say that they probably also know the johto language/dialect quite well too, considering that it’s hinted at that these two regions are pretty close to each other (the sinjoh ruins that are north of johto were worked on by people from both sinnoh and johto — so i assume it’s somewhere between these two regions).

the league members travel a lot. this can be seen all over the games, as most of them either have a sinnoh character in them or a mention that they’ve visited. it makes sense that they travel the most because the sinnoh gym challenge isn’t taken on a lot, so they have more spare time than most other regions.

“spare time” in the last point should be taken with a grain of salt — they may not get the most challenges, but they do work a lot around the sinnoh region. they’re probably the regional league that do the most hands-on work around their own region because of the lack of challenges, and who do the most international affair work.

sometimes, they’re even called to do overseas work in order to investigate disruptions in other regions due to them not being as widely recognizable. it’s an added plus that they can speak a language other than the one native to the region they’re working in because it makes it so that they can speak more freely to each other while working private jobs.

i figure that the sinnoh language is the one spoken the least compared to the languages of other main regions due to sinnoh’s lower population, so it’s much less likely that people will pick up on what they’re saying when they’re abroad. this is also why the sinnoh league members all know at least one or two other languages — it’s important for them to be able to communicate with visitors and people in other regions, so they likely either learned them in school growing up or as part of league training.

many of the league members already had education or interest in other languages before they joined. cynthia is fluent in the most due to it having already been a big interest of hers before she became the champion.

cynthia often offers to tutor league members who aren’t that confident in their foreign language skills. honestly, she’s better than any certified language teacher because she’s so patient and passionate, and the league are lucky to have her to help.

it’s typically the younger ones who get cynthia’s help — flint, maylene and aaron struggle the most with learning while candice, volkner and roark are the easiest to teach. the first three are much better at learning hands-on, so they learn the best when they’re actually abroad, while the latter three prefer the comfort of a tutoring setting.

the members who take on the most abroad work are cynthia, volkner, and flint. cynthia tends to take on solo missions and also just travels a lot and also has her villa in undella town — flint and volkner are usually sent out together as they’re seen as the pair in the league that can work the best together and have the highest success rate as a duo.

others who also travel often (though not as frequently) are wake and fantina.

this last point kind of veers off from the language theme of this list, but i thought i’d mention who i believe the “younger” in the league are and who the “older” are. there’s no age cut-off for either category, this is just more so who i headcanon are the ones in the league who are very much gen z / millennials vs. the ones who act more like mentors / experienced adults.

younger:

roark, maylene, candice, volkner, aaron, flint

older:

gardenia, wake, fantina, byron, bertha, lucian, cynthia

(lucian and cynthia are still in their late 20s / early 30s, so they aren’t old, they just give off mentor vibes)

This might have been on of the earlier stuff I started writing for Reagan and Will before I knew where their story really was going. It was suppose to be enemies to lovers -enemy gangs members - before they turn out to be same gang members and longtime lovers. But it turns out it can work from where their previous story will end to them meeting up at Villa during ICT.

Reunion snippet (all I got):

Lieutenant Miller wrings his fingers together, a nervous tick of the Lieutenant that William Coats quickly learned.

"I hate water. My sister drowned on the beach when we were kids while on vacation and I've never forgotten."

That explains the Lieutenant's anxiety since arriving at the Villa for N3 training.

"You'll be fine Lieutenant. We're going to make sure you make it through. No better time like the present to face your fears, yeah?" Coats places a hand over his shoulder and gives it a hard reassuring squeeze.

"Who's that?" Candice asks, her eyes wide with admiration.

All eyes follow hers, and Coats' eyes narrow. He looks on as he recognizes her trademark tattoos of skulls, roses and ravens on her neck, Misfit written on her right shaved side of her head, stars that line her left brow that accentuate her scar. Most of all, the fiery red lipstick. The blood leaves his face and he blanches. He feels his pulse quickening behind his ears out of pure hatred.

"You alright Coats? You look like you've just seen a ghost." Miller nudges his shoulders. He might as well have. A ghost from his past.

Kaia, Joanna, and Taissa drove over to your house to pick you up and drive over to Jaehyun’s house. You went with a dark blue dress that hugged your curves nicely. Your heels could poke an eye out.

You arrived at Jaehyun’s Spanish villa style home. Jaehyun came from a wealthy family but because of his soccer career, his wealth multiplied tenfold. The house probably had sixteen bedrooms AND sixteen bathrooms. In order to enter to Jung estate, you and the girls had to give your names at the security gate. You raised your eyebrows at the opulence and exclusivity of it all.

Kaia parked her blue Corvette (which your dress oddly matched with) and the four of you walked through the impressive garden entrance. You knocked on the door and were greeted by a butler who reminded you very much of Alfred Pennyworth circa The Dark Knight era.

“Welcome to the Jung estate. Master Jung is expecting you. Please come in,” he said.

Of course, Jaehyun had a British butler.

“Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars was playing from some admittedly amazing speakers. You recognized a lot of your classmates. Doyoung and Johnny were in an intense round of pool. Youngjae was belting it out in the karaoke room. Senior dance captain Lisa was at the center of the dance floor. It was surreal seeing everyone again after so long.

You and the girls were served some of the most amazing frozen margaritas in existence. You clinked glasses and talked about everything and nothing for a while.

You noticed that the party playlist was a 2012 playlist, highlighting the year you graduated. “Thinkin’ About You” by Frank Ocean played as you found yourself worried about Jaehyun popping out at any second.

The beautiful song paused. Then, you heard someone clinking their glass.

At the top of the grand staircase was the ever extravagant and ever extra Jaehyun Jung.

“Hello everyone!” Jaehyun yelled to the partygoers. He was met with cheers and whoops.

He continued, “Thank you so much for coming out. I’ve missed each and every one of you since we graduated.” His eyes met yours then.

Taissa cleared her throat. “Yikes.”

“Enjoy the night! There’s plenty of booze and make all the noise you want!” Jaehyun proclaimed.

Everyone yelled then as the music changed to “I Love It” by Icona Pop. More people went to the dance floor, drinks in hand.

“You guys saw that, right?” You asked.

“Anyone who’s had two drinks or less did, Y/N,” Kaia answered.

“He’s coming this way, y’all!” Joanna whispered a little too loudly.

Jaehyun sauntered his way over to you. You felt a little smaller and you hated that.

“Hello ladies,” he said as he smiled his angelic smile.

You had to hand it to the boy. His smile was so benevolent.

The girls all muttered greetings while you said, “Hi.”

“Y/N, I’m really glad you came,” he said as he smiled.

You sighed. “Well, how could I turn down free drinks?”

He laughed. “I deserved that.”

“Among other things,” Joanna muttered.

Jaehyun acted like he hadn’t heard that. “Y/N, can I speak to you alone?”

You raised your eyebrows at that. “Sure.”

Jaehyun led you to the gorgeous gazebo in the backyard. Candles were lit all around it. Technicolor flowers and lights sprinkled all over the top. It was so beautiful you wanted to pull your camera out and take photos at every angle.

Jaehyun sat down at the bench and you sat down as well, keeping yourself three feet apart from him.

Jaehyun fiddled with his champagne flute when he started. “You look great, Y/N.”

You couldn’t help the blush. Curse your seventeen-year-old self that was rising to the surface.

You snapped out of it and met his default flirtatious gaze. “Let’s cut the crap. What did you need to say?”

At first, Jaehyun averted his gaze and stared down at his lap. But then out of respect for you, he gave you eye contact as he delivered, “I am so sorry.”

That was the first of many things you wanted him to say. He just needed to beat himself up a little more before you caved and forgave him.

“For what?” You prodded, teasing him and acting like you didn’t know what he was talking about.

Jaehyun continued, “For blowing you off at prom and being scum of the earth.”

“Oh! That,” you said as you rolled your eyes.

“I was a jerk. And you were right. I was a coward.”

“I like what I’m hearing, good sir,” you said as you downed the rest of your margarita.

“I owe you an explanation. Not that it’s an excuse but I need you to know what happened.”

Your ears perked up at that. You were interested. You thought it was because he didn’t deem you cool enough or some other bull. But deep down you always wondered if there was more to the story.

“I’m listening,” you said.

“Candice’s dad was my old soccer coach. Taught me everything I knew and helped me book deals and sponsorships. But he was manipulative and wanted more of a cut of my earnings than he was given. I got caught up with some drug dealings senior year and he threatened to out me if I didn’t increase his pay and take Candice to prom.” Jaehyun looked smaller then as he shrunk in shame.

“Drugs?” You were shocked.

“I was an idiot, Y/N. I got clean after graduation. Told my parents everything. They cut ties with Coach Lochlan because they had some dirt on him. I took the summer to go to rehab and kept training.”

“And Candice?” You added.

“Candice had no idea about the drugs or what her dad was up to. She was a family friend. She always thought we would end up together even if we fucked around. So when I asked her to go the night before prom, she thought it was because it was the real deal.”

“Oh,” you managed to say.

“And...I didn’t know how to tell you. I felt horrible. I knew if I called you, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. If I texted, I...just couldn’t do it.”

“So Facebook messenger?” You asked in disbelief.

“I know. It was stupid and selfish and everything else,” Jaehyun downed the rest of his champagne.

You both sat in silence for a minute. The partygoers came in and out of the house. The vibe of the party was euphoric and carefree. The bubble you and Jaehyun created was not.

“Y/N, you have to know I liked you a lot back then,” he said.

“I figured you didn’t find me repulsive when you asked me to prom,” you said. He really pulled out all the stops back then. He convinced the soccer team to help him perform a slightly tone-deaf version of “I Swear” by All-4-One. You remember crying from laughter that day.

“I am so sorry,” Jaehyun repeated.

“So how are you now?” You wondered aloud.

“What?” Jaehyun was confused.

“Are you clean? For real?” Even if you thought Jaehyun was an egomaniac and a coward, he was still a human being with feelings and a family and a future.

Jaehyun nodded fervently. “I’ve been clean since the summer after senior year. Soccer was my only focus after that.”

“Look, what you did to me was cruel and humiliating. But...now that you told me what happened...It’s still cruel and humiliating...What you went through was terrible and I hope you’re clean now. I don’t want you to get messed up with drugs. It’s not a life for anyone. So...I forgive you.”

Jaehyun’s smile came back full force. His prominent dimples were bigger than you’d ever seen them. “Really?”

You nodded. “It’s in the past now.”

Jaehyun said, “Y/N, thank you.”

You smiled. “I’m glad you told me the truth. It must not have been easy for you to say it.”

Which made you wonder.

“Wait a minute,” you said.

Jaehyun’s smile faded.

“Why are you telling me this? Won’t this get you in trouble?” Jaehyun’s drug use was never revealed to the public. You would’ve known. He was one of the biggest celebrities in the world so whether you liked it or not, his life was out there for you to always get updated on. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, you name it.

“I was betting on you keeping it a secret.”

Well, that was a bombshell. “And what if I’m not the decent girl you remember?”

Jaehyun lifted an eyebrow at that. “You haven’t changed that much, Y/N.”

You asked, “What makes you say that?”

“I’ve kept up with you on Instagram and Twitter,” he blurted and turned away from you.

You coughed. “I’m sorry?”

“I’ve kept up with you on-“ He said as he avoided your stare.

“How? I would’ve blocked your ass,” you said.

“messi_214 was me. On Twitter.”

Curse you for accepting any and all follows on Twitter.

This meant he had seen everything. Your One Direction phase. Your very brief 5 Seconds of Summer phase. Your descent down the anime hole. Your rants about your family and your life. Your desperate longing to go to Barcelona and meet Messi. Your crude humor with your friends.

“Oh, no,” you said as you made yourself smaller. Trying to hide.

“You are hilarious,” Jaehyun said as he laughed at your reaction.

“Oh, God, why?!” You asked yourself, Jaehyun, and the big man upstairs.

“As for Instagram, Doyoung let me scroll through your feed whenever we met up.”

“Jaehyun, that’s a little creepy.”

“I would’ve messaged directly if you didn’t hate my guts so that was the next best thing.” He shrugged.

“You lurker,” you said as you shook your head. “Tell me you didn’t see everything.”

“Believe it or not, I have a life. I’ve been pretty busy...Mrs. Irwin.” So he did see everything, including your crush on drummer Ashton Irwin.

You smacked his arm. “Son of a!”

He laughed. “Y/N, the most vile thing you’d do is trash talk Real Madrid on Twitter. So...I trust you with my secret. But...I’m letting you decide. Say something or don’t, I’ll respect it and face the consequences.”

You weren’t going to expose Jaehyun. When he told you, you knew you would take his secret to the grave.

“I won’t say anything, doofus,” you said.

He perked up at “doofus”. “Y/N, thank you.”

“I do have one favor to ask you.”

“Anything,” he said eagerly, ready to buy you a car, a dozen handbags, and a plane trip to Fiji, if you asked.

You blew out a deep breath. “Don’t lurk anymore. Just follow me on Twitter and Instagram. As yourself. Not as messi_214 or as Doyoung. I won’t block you.”

“You promise?” His eyes were hopeful.

“I promise,” you replied.

Yuta was on his way to pick you up from the party. He was taking you to a late drive-in movie. Hero was coming along so you were even more ecstatic. You packed a change of clothes in Kaia’s car.

You and Jaehyun parted ways after your conversation. He surprised you by asking for your number but you didn’t think too much of it. He probably just wanted to commemorate your renewed friendship. It wasn’t like he was going to call tomorrow and ask to go play air hockey at the local arcade. So you gave your number to him. You thought he was just being nice. The next time you saw him would probably be at your high school’s ten year reunion.

Kaia walked you back to her car to unlock it for you. “So how did it go with Jaehyun? I’m dying here.”

You laughed. “He explained why he blew me off and...I saw things differently. His actions aren’t excusable. But...I forgave him.” You didn’t tell Kaia about the drug use but you told her everything else.

Kaia nodded. “I see. So this means he’s probably going to ask you out soon.”

You frowned. “What?”

“Y/N, he’s been keeping tabs on you for basically a decade. I hardly think it’s because he cares about your Stranger Things updates or your song recommendations,” Kaia grabbed some chapstick from her glove compartment as you grabbed your bag.

You shook your head. Jaehyun had moved on. He probably only liked you in the most innocent way in high school, too. He probably wouldn’t have asked you out again after that. Everyone had grown up and become different people. High school was long gone. He just wanted to make amends. And you did. “Kaia, no.”

Kaia sighed. “Y/N, he likes you.”

“Kaia, he does not.”

“I saw the way he looked at you.”

You were even more confused. “When?”

“When you two were talking outside. It was obvious. When you looked away from him, I saw it in his face. He looked like it physically ached him not to touch you.”

You laughed. “Kaia, you got all that from a look?”

Kaia rolled her eyes. “If stalking you on social media isn’t proof alone, you’re hopeless.”

You leaned onto her car and looked up at the night sky. They started fireworks in the backyard. “Even If he did, it wouldn’t mean anything.”

Because Yuta captivated you. And that was that.

Kaia got back to the party as you waited in front of the security gate for Yuta. A few minutes passed and he pulled up in his Challenger. You heard barking.

Yuta pulled down the passenger side window and gave a low whistle as he looked at you in your dress. “Have mercy.”

You laughed. “Hi, baby.”

Hero jumped from the backseat to the front to lick your chin from the window. “Hi, beebs! I missed you!”

“Hey! I’m waiting for my kiss,” Yuta whined.

You opened the passenger side door and were careful not to let Hero jump out. Hero moved to the backseat. You fastened your seatbelt and looked back at Yuta, who looked like an impatient kid.

“You have to put on your seatbelt to kiss me?” He asked.

It was funny. Regardless of a car moving or not, you automatically put on your seatbelt. You blushed, about to unfasten your seatbelt when he moved over and planted his lips on your mouth. He embraced you and you felt the warmth of his skin on your bare arms.

Your heartbeat was all over the place. You loved it when he took you by surprise. Yuta was a mischievous man who liked to mess with you and reward you all at once.

He tucked your side bangs behind your ear and just smiled at you in adoration. You looked stunning and he didn’t want to share you with anyone else.

“Let’s go,” he said.

“So I wasn’t the first soccer player to turn your brain into mush?” Yuta was annoyed.

You told him what you told Kaia about Jaehyun because you didn’t want to keep things from him and have it blow up in your face later.

“I’m afraid not, stud,” you said. You gave Yuta all kinds of cute nicknames.

“Pisses me off,” Yuta rolled his eyes as he muttered in Japanese. Hero was sleeping in the backseat. You were at the Galaxy Drive-In Theaters. The trailers were playing before Toy Story 4 would come on.

“Are you jealous?” You loved it.

“Damn straight. You know he’s into you, don’t you? I’ll kill him.” He aggressively grabbed a handful of popcorn and shoved it in his mouth.

“Yuta,” you laughed. “He is not.”

“Don’t deny it, Y/N. That pisses me off even more.”

Honestly? It wasn’t that much of a stretch. But so what? Jaehyun had a life of his own away from Miami. God knows how many women he was sleeping with. He wouldn’t pursue you. Did he think you were hot? Probably. But that wasn’t enough incentive for him to go out of his way and ask you out. You would become an afterthought to him.

Maybe he just wanted to ease up on some of the guilt he carried. His drug use was enough for him to look back on. Earning your forgiveness must have helped him feel a little better.

“Fine,” you said. “Maybe he does like me but who cares? I like someone else.”

Yuta eased up a little, ready to hear you sing his praises.

“Taeyong is number one in my heart,” you said. Taeyong Lee had been your celebrity crush since his debut single “Let’s Get It (feat. A$AP Rocky)” came out in 2018.

“I hate you,” Yuta pouted as you snatched the popcorn.

“I know,” you said. You absolutely relished in messing with him.

Toy Story 4 was way better than you anticipated it to be and you found yourself tearing up at the slightly unexpected ending. You had a feeling it would end the way it did but you still cried. Yuta had his arm around you and you leaned in closer to him, enjoying the scent of him.

“You big baby,” Yuta said as he sniffled. It seemed he also had a soul.

“Hypocrite,” you muttered.

He laughed as he kissed the crown of your head. “Let’s go home.”

“Okay,” you managed to say without your voice cracking. Your first night with Yuta.

You got back to his house in record time. Hero fell back asleep in the living room, which left you and Yuta in his kitchen.

Yuta could tell you were nervous. “I can make tea. Or do you want something else to drink?”

He was so kind and considerate it killed you. “Tea’s good. I’m actually hungry. Mind if I steal a scone?” Yuta made the best blueberry scones and oddly enough, they were your favorite pastry.

He smiled. Your love of food made you all the more adorable to him. He loved feeding you. “Not at all, sweets.”

Oh yeah, he also had all sorts of cute nicknames for you, too. You two were so nauseatingly sweet that anyone who came into your vicinity needed a filling.

Once you two ate some scones and drank his favorite green tea, you walked into his bedroom.

He picked you up and sat you on his bed. His eyes were the most intense you’d ever seen them. He had his hands on your shoulders and leaned down to kiss you. You fell back on the bed and he got on top of you.

He kissed your neck and moved his way down the valley between your breasts. He looked back up at you, waiting for an answer. You nodded.

The thing about Yuta is that even though he liked to tease you and lived to make you turn red, he wanted you to feel safe and protected. He made you feel like the most precious thing in the world. Like you were above Aphrodite. So when he made love to you that night for the first time, you knew that no one could ever make you feel this good.

Back at Jaehyun’s party, your friends were dancing and having the time of their lives. Jaehyun surprised everyone when he halted the music once again. He stood at the top of the staircase again.

“I’ve been dying to tell you guys this all night. I was just waiting for the final confirmation from my manager. I am moving back to Miami because I am joining the Inter Miami CF team!!!!!” Jaehyun yelled at the top of his lungs.

Joanna and Taissa looked at each other and said. “Shit.”

Jaehyun looked out into the crowd and looked for you. He was so busy mingling with everyone but hoped to run into you later on so he could ask you to come see him play. But you were nowhere to be seen.

Get To Know Me!

What Should We Call You?: You can call me Sprinkles, you can call me Sugar. Just about any term of endearment will do, and I’ll hug you forever. (Not really forever, but...well, you know what I mean.) If you like, Ree was a nickname gifted to me a long time ago, and I still love answering to it today.

What Kind Of Blog Is This?: Anything. Everything. If I like it, you’ll probably see it here. I’m not sure yet how to work side-blogs to the best of my ability so that it’s more streamlined. Oh! And I write things. Occasionally. Hehe.

How Old Are You?: Don’t you know you aren’t supposed to ask a girl her age? Kidding! I’m in my twenties. That’s all I’ll admit to, dangit!

Where Do You Live?: The Southern part of the USA. Hence, why I hate humidity. Insert scowl here.

What Do You Do?: Currently, I’m attending graduate classes while also helping out at a friend’s boutique and doing volunteer hours. Somewhere in there, I watch Netflix. And nap, napping is good.

Do You Have Pets? How Many?: I doooo. Currently, I have two balls of fluff, otherwise known as a dog and cat. I’ve also got a four-legged fiend that acts like a horse. Sometimes.

Hogwarts House: Slytherin. If I want to get super technical, it’s probably Slytherclaw with just enough Gryffindor to be annoying to fellow Slytherclaws. In certain situations. But I’ll always recognize my fellow Serpents above all, lol.

Favorite Flower: Ooo, Hydrangeas. And Sunflowers. Oh, and Peonies. Okay, so I like flowers. And pretty things.

Favorite Color: That’s just impossible. I love color in my world. I guess I’ll go by palettes? I love jewel tones the most; crimson, emerald, gold, royal blue and purple, etc. Bright colors come next. After that, pastels. Earth tones. And then neons.

Favorite Book: Oh, don’t ask me that. You can’t expect me to answer that!

Favorite Holiday: I could literally talk to you here about Christmas for the rest of the evening. And then some.

Favorite Season: Winter, naturally. I adore cold and all the things that come along with the Winter season. Autumn is a close second, however. It’s the first sign that my favorite time of year is coming, plus football comes back! And the leaves are so pretty. You know, when we’re lucky enough to see them change. Ugh.

Favorite Sport: Football. Hands down. College football, to be precise.

Dream Trip: Europe. Just...Europe. There is so much culture there, so many beautiful things to see. History literally walked the streets. I want to stay in a villa in Italy, lay among Tulips in the Netherlands, take pictures of the Swiss Alps. Goodness. I better get to traveling, lol.

Do You Take Requests: Ah, I tried this at the beginning, and got so many that I lost myself in it, and ended up not getting anything out there. So, that being said, I take suggestions? Do You Write M/M or F/F: I’m not the best at these, honestly just because I write using experience sometimes. I get my head into it. So that makes adopting a different POV difficult at times. That being said, it doesn’t keep me from writing something that is M/F/M or F/M/F. Somehow, that’s easier for me to wrap my muse around. Don’t ask me why. That bitch is crazy.

Do You Like OC’s: I loveeeee developing Original Characters. In fact, that’s what most of my writing is. So yes, a thousand times, yes.

Safe Travels, Part 1: In Abundant Relations - Chapter 2

Pairings: Paul/Dawn, May/Drew, Dawn’s Togekiss/Paul’s Honchkrow, Wallace/Winona, Candice/Zoey, Steven Stone/Cynthia

Rating: General

Summary: Paul loses to Brandon at their rematch in Snowpoint City and intends on challenging him once more in Hoenn. Dawn, who intends to participate in Hoenn contests, runs into him on the ship ride to Slateport City. Paul seeks Dawn’s coordinating expertise for a contest that Cynthia tells him he should participate in, and so, while Dawn is puzzled as to why Paul has to partake in the contest, so begins their journey together — ikarishipping.

Chapter 2 is here! In this chapter, the ship to Slateport City has a short stopover in Undella Town. Dawn and Paul go to the beach and soak up the sun with their Pokémon until Cynthia approaches them. They’re surprised to see the Sinnoh Champion here, but when she asks them for a small favor, they accompany her to her villa.

ASIDE BAR : Not trying to sidebar every scene here, but... Does the way everyone treats Jeremy really match up with the actual timeline, here? Because, Vicki is Matt's younger sister, and Jeremy is Elena's younger brother. Assuming that Matt and Elena are the same age, Jeremy (seeing as he attends the high school as well) couldn't be more than a year younger than Vicki. Jeremy = Freshman, Vicki = Sophomore, Elena & Co. = Juniors. I understand that freshman are the lowest in the high school hierarchy and everything, but damn, she's treating him like he has jam hands when it's entirely possible that there are a few months out of the year when they are the exact same age. Just saying.

END NOTES: So, the "blackground" is a term I coined in my youth to refer to the realm of the non-white characters and extras in all of the television shows I watched that were meant to be seen rather than heard or acknowledged as being real people by the white protagonists. It's the realm of "diversity" wherein the coloring-in of the backdrop behind the white characters was meant to augment my viewing experience as a POC and somehow satisfy my need for representation in the media I consumed. It only served to further instill in me the understanding that whiteness, in the eyes of the general populace, was considered the default status of humanity, and that anything else --anyONE else-- was an "other" that mattered less. Which, in case you missed it, is the precise OPPOSITE of the stated purpose of "diversity" in media.

So, I decided to add some blackground stats to the end of eps to get a numerical breakdown of the race-related writing and casting choices made on the show, because I seem to recall that Mystic Falls was a pretty dangerous place for a person of color, lol. In this rewatch, I really wanted to get a read on the actual percentages involved. I started out thinking I was going to do POC main characters versus POC side characters (i.e. those who weren't series regulars). But, since Bonnie's the only POC main character, she got her own column. Then, I decided to add Caroline as the obvious white counterpoint to Bonnie, because everything is exactly the same about them (gender, series regular status, position in the show hierarchy, both are Elena's BFFs, etc.) except for one thing: their races. Therefore, it logically follows that that one difference is the only reason these two characters might be treated differently in any way. Same for the white secondary characters introduced throughout the show in relation to their POC counterparts. Just a simple compare/contrast for context. NBD.

Also, I'm gonna go ahead and count Vicki and Aunt Jenna (and, later, Enzo) as secondary characters for the purposes of these stats even though both were at this point series regulars. Mild spoiler alert, but they don't stay that way for very long.

*11/28/2019 -- Just noting that I finally got around to replacing the blackground stats here to reflect the addition of the category “Presented In A Subservient Role” that comes into being a little further on in these recaps.*

All the screencaps are from Kiss Them Goodbye & Home of the Nutty. And I'm gonna post these recaps on Thursdays in honor of TVD-Days. It really was my #1 favorite show for quite a long time. In the later years, I was almost hate-watching (so that'll be fun when we get to that!), but, in the haze of nostalgia, I find myself missing it more and more every day.
