Extraction
Scarlet Spider focused on the OsCorp building, crouching down low to conceal herself behind the fire escapes of a nearby alleyway dressed in her new stealth suit. Her eyes raked the wall of its backside, stopping when she spotted an external vent. It was decently sized, but it would still be a tight fit. Thalia’s voice flooded in on her comms.
“Okay. I got the spider tracker to set the cameras on loops. You’re clear.”
Scarlet Spider launched herself at the building, crawling up the wall and making her way to the vent, opening it swiftly before squeezing her way inside. She peered down through the slits as she crawled. A hallway, a lounge, more hallway, electronics room, an office! She paused to look into the office more. The wall behind the expensive looking desk housed several framed degrees, the desk itself minimal, with loose papers and folders littered on top and a computer in the middle. Shelves on the sides had a few framed pictures that Scarlet Spider couldn’t completely make out. The room was dark, the lights were off.
Worth a shot.
Scarlet Spider pushed open the vent door as quietly as she could and dropped down onto the floor. She made her way over to the computer, pulling out a hard drive from her new utility belt and inserting it. The computer turned on and Scarlet Spider froze at the username it displayed. Norman Osborn. If her interactions with the multiverse taught her anything, it was that Norman Osborn’s were almost always very bad news.
Of course there’s a Norman! Your universe has an OsCorp! That’s his company!
Scarlet Spider shook her head, snapping out of her trance and patching into her comms.
“Alright. It’s in. You’re up.”
She whispered. Immediately the computer unlocked and Scarlet Spider could only watch in awe as her sister worked, opening folders, scanning files, recovering search history. She had no idea how she did it, let alone this fast.
“… I think I just found more than the symbiote files.”
“What?”
Scarlet Spider’s heart skipped a beat as a multitude of disaster scenarios flooded into her head.
Green Goblin serum? Pumpkin bomb schematics? Glider blueprints?
“I found the spider experiment files.”
Scarlet Spider breathed out a sigh of relief. That relief quickly turned into shocked surprise. The spider files. If they could get those she could finally figure out exactly what spider bit her, what they did to it, what it did to her. But before she could respond a pop up appeared in the corner of the screen, blinking red.
“Shit!”
“What? What’s happening?”
“I activated some security measures… ugh I can’t override it! We have four, maybe five minutes before the computer and room locks down!”
Oh shit.
“Get what you can! Quick!”
Scarlet Spider could hear her sister typing from the other end. When suddenly she stopped.
“What?”
“The spider and symbiote files are both really big. I only have time to download one!”
Scarlet Spider’s heart dropped. Only one?
The spider files! Get those!
That was her automatic response. But something in her couldn’t bring herself to say it. She balled her hands into fists before slowly releasing them.
“Get the symbiote files.”
“What? Are you sure?”
“Yes I’m sure. Do it. Now!”
Thalia’s typing resumed as Scarlet Spider hovered her hand over the hard drive, her entire body tense.
“Ok go!”
Scarlet Spider pulled the hard drive out of the computer and jumped upwards, quickly squeezing her way back into the air vent from which she came. Second later she winced as she heard the daunting sound of metal plates slamming down to cover all exits of the room. She exhaled, clutching the hard drive slightly as she crawled her way back to the opening of the external vent.

As many TBB fans, we really missed out on Echo becoming a true member of Clone Force 99. Like yeah, the unresolved trauma, not to mention Fives, but we all known Echo is a little shit, and has been a little shit since his cadets days.
Let's explore this a little more.
Show me Echo finally getting to spar with someone, anyone, and just pulls a nasty move to win. You know, the kind of move that is downright dirty? We all know what i'm talking about. But show me TBB standing there in shock that this twig of a reg just took down someone twice his weight. He does not yet have all his muscle mass back yet! This was supposed to be a warm up for Echo. A way to build up his strength. Instead they get reminded that Echo is an ARC trooper and he has been through a lot.
Show me Echo trying to stop a cafeteria fight by reciting the reg manuals, saying "per regulation, fighting is not allowed in the cafeteria, and if you would have taken the time to read the reg manuals, you would have known that. Can you even read?" and Hunter furiously trying to deescalate the situation and failing. Echo gets sucker punched but the other clone does not get off as easily. Apparently he had to spend the night in the med bay. Echo only feels a little bit guilty.
Show me Echo matching Crosshair's snarkiness with his own. Remember "Bravo for Bravo Squad"? But instead of being angry with each other, it starts a beautiful friendship between the ARC and Snark troopers. The rest of TBB don't get how there friendship works and just have to roll with it.
But overall, let's not forget that ARC training happens on Kamino. Show me Echo being called up by the ARC trainer for demonstration purposes. Afterall, it's not everyday a war hero gets to help train new ARCs (except for Alpha-17, perhaps). Show me a bunch of new ARC recruits looking in astonishment because "holy Prime, that's ARC Echo of the 501st! He withstood the worst torture imaginable! He basically made half the 501st tactics with The Captain Rex of the 501st!" only for Echo to just crush there poor little preconceptions. Because this little shit keeps it real with these recruits, explaining the reality of going on a mission with a zero success rate, of going through torture, of having to build up physical strength to the point that no cyber implants hurt anymore. Echo does not hold back and has no filter, his words are practically as blunt as the dullest blade and it can hurt just as much. But even through that, no recruit can beat him in a spar. Yet. It's become a new challenge within ARC training.
Of course, I am a sucker for Mom Echo during season 1 and 2, but let me see Echo being a little shit before that! Let me see Hunter calling Cody one night after a successful mission asking "what is up with this reg? Are all ARC troopers like this?" And since Cody has known the little shits that make up the Domino Twins he just solemnly nods his head while sniggering on the inside. He calls Rex afterwards. Rex just laughs.

Some headcannons I have about Echo :)
Once he joined the 501st Ahsoka found him reading reg manuals and gave him a few books to read instead, he promptly became a bookworm and joined Ahsoka and Jesse’s book club
He was the better strategist and close combat fighter while Fives was the better shot and better with changing conditions
can hold his liquor surprisingly well
is responsible for 1/5th of Rex’s gray hairs
after joining the Bad Batch it took him a while to start gaining his weight and muscle back as well as his coordination
however once he did start to gain some strength back he basically put himself through his own version of ARC training to get himself back to fighting form
he is the best sparrer on the Bad Batch, something Crosshair learned the hard way when was in an argument with Echo and challenged him to a sparring match
The sniper was down in less than a minute
As Echo recovered the Bad Batch realized they might have bitten off more than they bargained for by taking on the ARC trooper
He challenged them all not just because his skills usually match up with theirs, but because he grew up being challenged by his vod, and the Bad Batch was largely sheltered from the other clones
None of them know how much older Echo is than them and he plans on keeping it that way
The batch regularly refers to Echo has mom, including Hunter
Hunter was actually happy they took Echo on because his plans were beginning to get predictable and Echo head a lot of experience, he also didn’t take shit from any of the bad batch and helped keep them in line
Echo can beat everyone in the Bad Batch except for Wrecker in an arm wrestling contest
Once told his squad to leave the droid base to him and they went “lol ok regy we’ll come help in 10 mins” and then 5 mins later the whole place blew up and Echo just strutted out and tossed the Tacticle Droids head to Hunter
Wrecker was jealous
Regularly scares the Batch with how well he holds his alcohol
Crosshair and Tech once challenged Echo to a drinking contest and got their asses handed to them
Was the only one that new anything about girls when they took Omega on because he spent so much time with Ahsoka
Does not like anything when it comes to water because he only has one arm and he weighs a lot more than he used to because of his metal legs
He got Omega into reading for fun when she got bored with the courses Tech made for her

something that's endlessly frustrating to me is that while you could make the argument that bryke didn't intend for their invocation of attachment to be taken in the buddhist sense, then that frankly makes their appropriation of buddhist and hindu aesthetics through aang and guru pathik in the guru even worse.
aang is undertaking a spiritual journey through unlocking his chakras (an explicitly buddhist and hindu concept) to achieve enlightenment through mastering the avatar state - the entire aesthetic, thematic and narrative structure of that episode is one of the most overtly buddhist episodes of the entire show. to then argue that "oh, actually, they're not talking about attachment in that way! they're just talking about love and aang shouldn't have to give up love!!" is frankly insulting.
if what bryke wanted was aang's conflict to be a conflict of love vs power (as framed in aang's conversation with iroh), then the guru should not have been written the way it was, because that episode explicitly frames aang's conflict as being about personal earthly attachment vs enlightenment, which is not actually the same thematic conflict as love vs power. and even if that was the intention, aang just, like, gains a massive amount of power thru the lion turtle and doesn't actually do anything spiritually, emotionally, or mentally to master the avatar state, and then also just gets love.
so. what was intended point and meaning of having aang master the avatar state at all, exactly? to hopefully being in the right place at the right time to get hit by the right rock?

You can ignore this but I was just curious. What are your thoughts on redemption? I know modern day it means "character gets absolved of all wrongdoing and sin, and everyone forgives them yay!" But I'm talking more like, redemption as "Character acknowledges their actions and worldview was shitty, has apologized to all harmed parties, some forgive and some don't, but regardless character works on their issues and strives to become better"
I know characters are writing tools, so the message here would, in short, be "No matter what you can still work to be a better person". So I suppose I'm asking to what extent you agree. Sorry if this ask is everywhere I'm very sick at the moment.
I speak harshly of redemption arcs because I am actually an aficionado. I love them. I can't get enough of them, honestly. They're like eggs to me, I like 'em in all sorts of ways, devilled, omeletted, scrambled, but rotten ones are so bad you've gotta get rid of them immediately.
What often ends up setting me off about how redemption arcs are approached (and discussed) is the pervasive fact that people are more interested in sorrowful abusers than messy victims. They'll turn out to gush about how wonderful it is that Clear Sky cries about how sad murdering women made him, while not even recognizing Star Flower is self-destructing or Thunder is deflecting and misplacing.
It's like... even in fandom you will never get away from it. Your abuser is compelling and complex (meaning "was mean and sad at the same time"), and you're whiny and annoying ("ugh why is this traumatized person doing irrational things?! Don't they ever learn?!")
So when I write and when I talk, victims are always forefront in my mind. I'm really tired of stories that center Good Intentions or "but they loved you"
But anyway, digressing,
I agree. It really is never too late to work to be a better person. It's not even about apologizing, or making up for it, because sometimes you can't. "Sorry" will never undo what happened, and "sorry" doesn't even promise that real change is behind it.
So to me, a good redemption is just about exploring change.
Not suffering, I don't entirely like the idea that pain fixes pain, because it really doesn't. Reflection does. Genuinely understanding what was wrong and why you did it does. In spite of how cathartic it is to see someone get karma, I do hope that 99% of all people could be rehabilitated.
It's why I'm not fond of the phrasing where people want to deny redemption arcs because "they don't deserve it.' The WORLD deserves it. The people they will HELP deserve it. The person they will be deserves it. The question really is-- WOULD they change?
And the answer for powerful people is usually no. Power feels good. Gets you what you immediately want, makes it easy to surround yourself with yesmen who reinforce your excuses.
I think most people want to see others get better, but it's cathartic to me when some characters don't. Redemption arcs are wonderful things, but shouldn't be seen as the IDEAL ending for every villain, y'know?

Shout-out to Nala Se
It won't be a popular opinion, but here's a moment of appreciation for Nala Se! Or rather, A Tale of Two Bitches.
Bitch No. 1 here is karma. Fandom rightfully hates Nala Se for her role in Fives’s tragic fate. But outdoing herself in keeping the chips a secret, Nala Se helped Palpatine's ascend and subsequent genocide of her people.
She had her good moments, too. She refused to leave the medical station and her patients in the Malevolence arc. She protected Omega—true, while cooperating in enhancing Crosshair's chip. Though, most probably, the choice was between enhancing his chip and proving to Tarkin that the members of Bad Batch aren't totally useless or letting him just get rid of all of them.
But in Tantiss Nala Se proved herself to be an awesome badass bitch! First, bluntly refusing to cooperate, unlike the Kaminoan politicians: you exterminated my people, what worse can you do to force me to cooperate? Then, quietly but persistently protecting Omega on, it seems, a daily basis for half a year. And, finally, point blank lying to a space wizard of immense power, a cunning manipulator who double-crossed the whole galaxy, the most powerful person here—still, tricked by a quiet Kaminoan woman who had the solution to his problem by her side all this time, and nobody even suspected.
God, she is so underappreciated!

Tara was lying down on the couch, flipping through the TV channels with the remote, “Whatever it is I did, I didn’t do it.” She called back.
“No,” Teddy came from around the corner, “where’s my school bag?” He looked exhausted despite Tara, and other multiverse acquaintances, came and forced him to take a day off and sleep.
“Ted, you’re taking the week off, I already called in saying you were sick and I was taking care of ya. Break is only a week away anyways, might as well take the week before then off.”
Teddy rolled his eyes, “I know that already, but all my college prep books are in there and I need them!”
Tara groaned, “You still with the college prep? Bro, just take a break, you’re exhausted.”
“Fine! I won’t, can I just know where my bag is?” Teddy tightened his hands into fists against his sides. God damnit, Tara always taking his shit.
The girl sat up and looked behind herself to raise a brow at her brother, “You’re so tired that not even Ravage can come out and say anything because he needs rest to.”
Teddy ran a stiff hand through his hair, “Give me my bag.”
Tara huffed, “Fine,” she said through gritted teeth, turning back to the TV and lying down again. “Karma, give the dude his bag back.”
“Told you it wouldn’t work,” the symbiote hissed, a tendril emerging from the girl’s back and reaching over to the far corner. Hidden under tons of junk and coats was Teddy’s back. Karma threw it over to the boy before the tendril retreated back and hidden out of sight.
Teddy caught the back, staggering back a bit because of the weight and swung it over his shoulder, walking back upstairs, muttering something under his breath.
Tara waited a few moments, hearing her brother’s footsteps get quieter as they went up the stairs. She rolled onto her back and shoved a pillow on her face, sighing.
“Have you tried calling those spider girls yet?”
“I have,” a muffled voice said under the pillow, “but they clearly don’t wanna talk to me over a phone after I outed them to their uncle.”
“So what do we plan on doing?”
A pause
Tara flung the pillow off of her face. “Get ready girl, we’re breaking and entering tonight.”

List of things that will make me Not Normal when they happen:
-Forever returning from the Nether, and whatever the hell may come of it
-Foolish getting Leo back after months of repressing
-Philza's reaction to whatever state Chayanne and Tallulah might be in (Wilbur's as well)
-Etoiles and Antoine reuniting with Pomme
-Whatever moment puts Maxo's code-infected leg in the spotlight
-Mariana logging on
-Roier finally getting some happiness back when Leo and Richas return (as well as Pac)
-The others learning about how Forever really got his "treatment"
-Mouse, Tina and Tubbo getting to finally see the eggs again, and Rivers getting to know them better
-Bagi meeting Richas, her son
-Forever, should he go through with it, asking Wilbur if he can adopt and co-parent Tallulah (ft. Uncle Pac getting to spoil her more)
-Mike's next encounters with everyone, and whatever comes of it (mainly him and Fit reuniting with Mike knowing Fit's secret)
-The server learning about the painful secrets of certain members' past; Baghera's torture, Philza's "dreams", Quackity's lobotomy, Pierre being a robot, Bad's soul vultures
-The server learning about the treacherous secrets of certain members' present; Antoine's connections with the Federation, Kameto being a spy, Fit trying to get the player data, Jaiden being part of the Federation and having lied about being kidnapped, Jaiden and Foolish's Federation alliance, the full truth about Ron Lemons
-Anyone noticing how tense Forever is around Cucurucho nowadays
-Wilbur realizing something is deeply wrong with Quackity
-The karma of how Charlie's trauma and grief were treated coming in with a vengeance
-Tazercraft reuniting with Walter Bob
-Learning what happened to Bagi's parents
-Tubbo and Fred reuniting after Fred's abduction
-SOFIA coming back online, and Maxo reuniting with her
-Even just crumbs about Forever's life in Stonkscraft and what happened between him and Brunim

Propaganda Under Cut
Allura
Lots of people (myself included tbh) ship klance (Keith and Lance). In s8 the creators made Allura/Lance canon (but then they killed her off and left the ending ambiguous it was weird). Anyway the fandom treats her like she's the most terrible bitchy woman ever but all she wants to do is end the war and avenge her destroyed home planet. Yeah she wasn't always the nicest or always the best, but you could argue some other characters in the show aren't either and they aren't treated near as bad as allura. people really just hate her bc Lance liked her. I don't think allura/lance are good together, but I still liked her as a character and thought she was interesting and had a lot of growth during the show. she DEF is not evil like some people portray her as in fic or talk about her in captions on posts. I've seen people say that they HATE her and that she's the worst and I'm like ??? let her live (well sort of ig she is dead now). lots of fic writers use her as the villain which is so interesting to me bc the show literally has villains like use them. anyway allura so perfectly fits the bracket description she deserves better.
I hate to acknowledge my time in this fandom but I hate the way the fandom treated her more. Allura was treated like shit no matter what side of the Great Ship War you were on because she was always a threat to the biggest ships (klance and sheith). At best she got put into Background Lesbian or Consolation Prize Shallura (Space Mom-zoned) (She was not a motherly figure btw. She was just Black). At worst she was violently demonized for being ~racist~ (kinda not cool with the alien race that blew up her planet for a few episodes), complete with misogynistic language hurled at her (she got called a bitch sooo much). Allura was a good and cool character and the show did her dirty but the fandom was somehow worse.
i apologise for speaking the dark magicks, but amidst the voltron fandoms many, many transgressions, there were a particular subset of people who just hated this girl. the infamous klance wars of the 2010s kept this perfectly fine childrens cartoon character in the sights of shippers everywhere, and she (and her voice actress im sure) were subjected to years of petty squabble blown up to global perportions. ive seen hate, ive seen rants, ive seen fanfics that made her homophobic. girls been through the ringer, and even though voltron was never the show its fandom wanted it to be, i believe allura deserved better
Kayano Kaede
shes genuinely a really tragic character who had potential for a really compelling, effective arc concerning grief, identity, healing, and finding trust again all while going through the inherent ordeal of being 15 years old….if she werent a female character in a shonen anime 😭😭 instead she gets sidelined during the show up until her big plot twist reveal after which shes immediately sidelined again. whatever i still love her and know her to be a character of all time who has suffered more than jesus. in my experience shes perhaps the female character who like. ive seen most *obsessively* hated due to her “getting in the way” of the ship b/w the male protagonist + deuteragonist (bc of her proximity to the both of them) u woild think shes the devil incarnate and not just. 15 and traumatised
She had a crush on Nagisa and they kissed and a lot of fans ship him with Karma so theyre mad that Kaede is there. She is super silly and nice but the fandom hates her for standing in the way of karmagisa.
she's a sweet person that was an actor and loves her sister. she is the main love interest of the main character but doesn't interact with him more than most of the other characters for a majority of the story. Often I have seen them removed from the story only to become some homophobic jerk that's desperate for the main characters love instead of letting her keep the good friendship that her and the main character had before the romance.

Okay. Revolution.
I’m not gonna say Chloé isn’t fully undeserving of most her punishment. As much as I wanted a redemption arc for her, I’ve accepted that it’s not gonna happen – and it is kinda poetic that, after abusing her power as the daughter of Paris’ mayor for so long, her punishment is to lose all that power and influence.
But what about the people that enabled her thus far?
André, who catered to her every whim, leading to her becoming as spoiled as she is. Audrey, who alternated between not caring one whit about her and encouraging her worse tendencies. And Bustier, who basically taught her that she’ll never be punished for her actions by coddling her and telling her victims to forgive her.
All of them had a part in shaping Chloé into the bully she became, but none of them face any responsibility for it. André and Bustier get their last minute “oh, maybe this wasn’t a good idea!” moments and then get to wipe their hands of her completely, and no one points out how they (André especially) contributed to this mess – hell, they get rewarded at the end. Audrey, meanwhile, gets to keep abusing her daughter without consequence, and it’s treated as karma.
And Chloé – who, for all her nastiness, is fifteen years old, literally a child, who’s been surrounded by bad influences her entire life – is the only one blamed for her nastiness. Is the only one shunned by everyone, while the people that made her get away scot-free.
It sickens me.
