I watched HTTYD ThW once again and I want to share my thoughts and critique points

The stuff I liked:

Toothless getting a love interest actually made me very happy!

I can’t even tell you how excited I was that we got the blue eyed white fury, when I was a wee litle kid I wanted that so bad

HICCSTRID WEDDING!!!

HICCSTRID KIDDOS!!

Ruff and Fishlegs getting together is actually so sweet

Eret being a bigger part in this and delivering some important information to our main characters

Tuffnuts beard plot was actually very funny and in character for him

The Night Lights are adorable and I love them dearly

My critique points:

starting at the very beginning, why is Berk so overcrowded? What about the rest of the island? What about surrounding islands? What about dragon island? Are those just... not there? why is every dragon living right in the village?

Why is Snotlout hitting on Valka... please... it made me so uncomfortable the entire movie.

Just... Snotlout... he is so out of character the entire time. The only thing in character he did was cry when the dragons left and cry at the Hiccstrid wedding. The writers just wanted a plotline of Hiccup being bullied, but couldn’t think of another way to do it.

We know that grimmel set up the trap on Berk and left the light fury there to meet Toothless, but... why exactly did she stay? She could have just left? It’s not like she knew there was another fury here, she could have just flown back to the hidden world

I didn’t want to address it but the Light Fury design makes me so mad. Yeah, she’s pretty, but she was modeled after human beauty standards. Soft, glittery, smooth... meanwhile other female dragons, like Meatlug or Stormfly, don’t show a difference between male and female.

The Light Fury design just looks out of place in a world where something like a Singetail or Quaken exists. It’s not the typical HTTYD style that I know and love.

talking about design choices, why is every female character, especially Valka, suddenly wearing make up?? In HTTYD 2 Valka looked amazing, like the feral, middle aged dragon lady she was. In this one she looks like a 20 year old, now signs of aging at all except for the grey strands.

I’m also not sure about Toothless design for this movie, but he at least still looks like a night fury his age

Toothless would never leave Hiccup for a girl? Like?? What??

Why is Toothless behaving so weirdly? the producers said it’s because of domestication but like, Stormfly is also domesticated in that sense and she knows how to do her mating dance, she doesn’t behave like a fool around a potential mate.

Grimmel is made out to be this crazy, dangerous foe, the Night Fury killer. But yet I felt like he wasn’t actually such a threat? Drago for example was intimidating because, not only was he insane, he was responsible for Stoick’s death and had forced a dragon the size of a mountain into submission. Grimmel is just some dude that drugs dragons for obedience.

There is no way that grimmel actually killed all Night Furies, like, come on. What are the odds.

Why is Ruffnut this way in this movie?? The whole plotpoint of her being left behind is just so bizarre.

First off, it has been mentioned and explained multiple times throughout the franchise that a two headed dragon needs two riders.

Second, did Barf just not care?? That his rider was missing?? And how did Tuff not notice either?

Third, I’m sad to say this, but if there is one rider that this could have potentially worked on, it was Snotlout. We’ve seen many times in the franchise that he can fall off of Hookfang without Hooky noticing. It’s still far fetched, but it’s the most likely out of all of them.

Ruffnut would be way too smart to not look back and check if she was followed. We’ve seen her be smart many many times. She refused to tell on her friends at any time. She would have looked back and made sure that she wouldn’t be followed.

I call bs on the dragons having to leave. They always insisted on the fact that they will always protect the dragons and fight for and with them and now they’re just tossing all that out the window?

Sure, Grimmel was a threat. But like... The events of the movie took maybe a week. RTTE in comparison was over the span of a year or two. The war with Viggo, Ryker, Krogan and Johann was so much bigger than what happened here, but yet this is what makes Hiccup decide to send off the dragons?

Hiccup... honey... Toothless is permanently disabled... you can’t set him free just like that, his tail needs maintanence or it will inevitably break and leave him for dead...

In Conclusion:

Standing alone, it’s a great movie! But within the franchise, between other movies, shorts, shows books and comics, it’s just so out of character and incredibly weak compared to the rest.

Things I hate "dislike" within the httyd fandom/httyd itself:

1. NON HICCSTRID SHIPPERS. AS SIMPLE AS THAT. Now I have nothing against the person themselves but when people intentionally go out of their way to make it CLEAR that they don't ship... it gets kind of annoying...

2. Photoshop. Ngl there are some RLLY talented ppl out there and I have seen TONNES of amazing and adorable photoshop, tho hogwarts uniforms? And Astrid as Rapunzel? Really?

3. Cross over fanfics. Now I like the creativity, but can someone tell me who woke up oneday and decided to creat an entire fandom for Hiccup, Elsa, Jack Frost and Merida and then expect everyone to agree with it?

4. Luna(Light fury). I'm really sorry to those who love her, but I... don't... for one thing they just slap her in the third movie without a single f- and just let it be. Toothless took her over his friend who saved him(and injured him in the first place) and ran off with all the other dragons. She also seems extremely moody, untamable and just plain b*tchy. Again, sorry to those who like her. This is just my personal opinion- you don't necessarily have to agree or disagree with everything I say

5. The Nine Realms. This one speaks for itself.

6. Thw. This also speaks for itself. Ik ppl who absolutely HATE this movie, and whilst I definitely don't love it, I'll still watch it(*jazz hands* HICCSTRID WEDDIIIIIIIIIING)

7. *sigh* why the dragons leave..? I MISS YOU TOOTHLESS!! 😢

8. When ppl write fanfics with rlly bad spelling and grammar. Now keep in mind I also have mild OCD so this might also be why it annoys me so much, although I do understand that for some people English isn't their first language.

9. Rlly crazy au's. I love modern au, runaway au, etc. But things like mermaid, cowboy or princess au just... idk... I just prefer not to read them if you know what I'm saying. Way too twisted for my tiny brain.

10. Jk I don't have 10 things I hate dislike, only 9. Also it's currently 11:30pm and I'm half sleep deprived but not enough to get to sleep so um yeah. Usually this is when I'm either blurting out random thoughts or looking through Hiccstrid fanarts. No regrets.

Anyone like to listen to score songs from Big Hero 6 (movie)?

Big Hero 6's music score is really underrated. I rarely see some people in the fandom talk about the music score.

I get really nostalgic when I go back to listening to it. I was brought back with the warmth of Baymax and Hiro while flying together in the skies of San Fransokyo. I'm back in 2015 where I was still really hype with Big Hero 6. I miss those days. I miss my old fandom.

Well, this is my favorites.

First Flight

I really like the concept of futuristic music. This song brings me back to flying in the sky of San Fransokyo with Baymax and Hiro. Follow the sea, move up to the top of the skyscrapers, and arrive at the evening sky with a dashing view of the city of San Fransokyo. I love it when Hiro sees his reflection on the glass wall of the Building and Baymax zigzags through the sky turbines *I don't know the name of lol*.

I'm sorry HTTYD's Flying theme, but this one really makes me melt.

Big Hero 6

The background music when Big Hero 6 is in action is amazing. Honey Lemon with her chemical explosion, Gogo with her iron wheel, wasabi with his laser, Fred with his flame burst, also not forgetting Baymax with his martial arts move when he finished off the microbots. Then I love the scene where Callaghan runs out of microbots and Baymax is getting ready to punch Callaghan. The music is very uplifting and passionate.

I'm Satisfied With My Care

This music brings me back to the sadness scene when Baymax sacrificed himself in portal. I really love to see the transition from the violin orchestra to a single piano beat when hiro starts crying and then says "I'm Satisfied With My Care" in a hoarse voice. So touching.

The Streets of San Fransokyo

I like cool rock music elements in it. The music is so perfect for the chase scene in the glitter of the city at night.

Hiro Hamada

Especially for the first part. San Fransokyo looks amazing. This song is perfect to listen to at night while looking at skyscrapers lol. By the way, in “Big Hero 6 Complete Score” album, the name of song is Tadashii Roboto No Tsukurinata and it’s more complete and better.

Upgrades

I like the uplifting music when Hiro first upgraded Baymax. Then the transition becomes sad when hiro sees the baymax chip made by his late brother. Tt looked as if Hiro promised to fight for his brother.

Microbots

I love to see the elements of electronic music in it. really feel the vibe. the appearance of the microbot from the barrel, then hiro presented his findings.

Reboot

the ending scene makes me want to go back to the days when I was crazy about BH6. The situation returns to peace, Hiro begins to accept the situation but suddenly he finds hope to meet Baymax again and ends with the sentence "who are we" at the end of the movie.

Silent Sparrow and Family Union

Feelings of revenge, anger, disappointment and sadness are very strongly depicted here. Memory brings me back to Tadashi's tragedy. The feeling of loss as a result of being killed by other people makes the grudge run high. very strong feeling.

Huggable Detective

The music depicts the silliness and innocence of baymax being an impromptu detective and makes me have to chase the adorable white balloon creature to keep it from making noise in the city

So Much More

I like the part when the fail-flying scene (?) during the flight experiment. the music fits perfectly with Hiro's screams.

14: Do you miss someone?

sometimes, 90% of the time i try not think about them too much. if we're talking about family, then i always miss them, i'm missing out on a lot since they all live overseas

34: Who/what was your last dream about?

ooooohhhh, ummm, i can't even remember tbh. uhhh, recent dream that i do remember... hold on lemme pull out some messages i sent to a moot.

So firstly have you watched Steven universe? You know the diamonds then? okay good.

Aight so so. There was this amusement park kinda thing that me and my fam went to plus some other people that I don’t know the name of. And we were there because he heard white diamond was turning evil again and was going to fuck up this event that was happening at the amusement park. So we get out onto a field, like a small one surrounded by fences and we spot her on a building a long ass way away but the bitch got aim so she was gonna fuck shit up anyway. So now think of it like a boss fight

She’s firing light at us and we’re dodging and weavin, like hitting it back at her. Then after a while she comes from the building and we go head on. She also has this thing we needed I can’t exactly remember what it was but it was very very important. So we win, I get this thing and I break a lock on the gate with my bare mf hand and run. Then it got fuzzy and I’m in a another space that I think is in the theme park but it’s really old and run down.

So we’re on clean up but it’s not just clean up there’s mf spiders, like GIANT SPIDERS, like think arachnophobia movie giant. And we gotta fight these bitches off. At one point I ended up climbing the wire fence (cause this room has a wire fence like in a basketball court) and there’s a pool below me (the pool is like dirty muddy brown so you can’t see through it). And there’s three exterminator dude at the bottom and they see me up there and they look at the pool.

Then toss a thing that would make the water ripple and vibrate. At first nothing came out but then you see legs rise outta the water. And this massive ass spider come outta the pool, and they start shooting at it. And I think I someone ends up slicing that bitch up cause bullets ain’t working, I would know I had a AR in one’s mouth at one point and pulling the trigger and it did shit

Mind you I still have this important thing from White diamond on me. Then the dream switches again. And now we’re tryna pull dinosaurs from captivity Jurassic world style. And there was one ‘apartment’ sharing out like three rooms. And in one there was a homie like obsessed with this Dino in a cage and refused to let it go mans was bat shit crazy, I had to hold a gun to his head so he would stop (he was threatening my life okay). We took the cage he starts crying and we move on, can’t remember the second room but the third room was a mom and her bf who had a child with a Dino, the child wasn’t present he was prolly at school, and mom is terrified of this thing cause it’s small like a lizard and crawls all over the place.

She hiding behind me tryna tell me where it is and I find it under a book case and this mf should be at least the size of that room but because of genetic coding they made it lizard size. I explain this to mom while holding the cute thing in my hand and then thank her and leave.

Then I’m back at the theme park and driving, and now this item I have from white is a whistle, like a long kinda pipe with some intricate design on it and apparently it’s like a universal call for all these Dino’s. So I blow it while in a jeep and they all kinda bust out, some flying most walking and we go in search of a home for them (like hiccup did for toothless in the last HTTYD movie)

I’m probably going to instantly regret making this post but it’s four in the morning and also I desperately want to talk to people about these things.

This is just. Copypasted from my AU list page. Some stuff might be outdated in a week. Who knows. Not me.

Star Vs The Forces of Evil:

Monster Carvers (link) - Main Star Vs AU. Stomco endgame + Tom stays with Marco + Star raised by Monsters (specifically Buff Frog). The titular antagonists were originally going to disappear after the prologue what the heck happened???

Pretty Cure vs the Forces of Evil (link) - Exactly What It Says On the Tin, Pretty Cure x Star Vs.

unnamed Pirate AU - Star Butterfly has a perfectly nice, unbearably boring life as a high-class lady, with little to do other than wait to be married to her arranged fiancé that she’s never even met. A week before her wedding she sneaks on board a shipping vessel in the hopes of having an adventure. She gets a little more adventure than she bargained for when the ship is attacked by pirates.

“"Cannon”“ - A cannon-adjacent AU that started as a crossover with Monster Carvers

unnamed Infinity Train AU feat. human!Star and human!Tom.

unnamed Post-Cleaved AU featuring forced humanizations, amnesia, and one small time hiccup. Also Dave and Wrathmelior are missing, so that sucks for Tom.

How to Train Your Dragon:

Outsiders (link) - Main HTTYD AU. Instead of watching the entire Berk fleet sail off to their dooms with Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid free the arena dragons and take Toothless while he’s being brought to the ship and then they all get the heck out of dodge. Dagur accidentally set himself adrift with Heather back when they were both small. Snotlout learns the hard way that being the Heir/responsibility kind of really sucks actually??? Stoick has to deal with his son going rouge. And Gobber and the Berk Teenagers have to deal with Stoick and Snotlout respectively.

Modern Riders/Time Travel AU - Modern!Hiccup is dragged by his cousin into an unwanted camping trip with the other riders and one electrical storm later, they find their cell phones aren’t working any more. Also are those flipping dragons?! On Berk, Stoick and the other vikings are shocked to find a group of teenagers in the woods who bear a shocking resemblance to some of the members of a dead generation of children.

Unsevered Bonds - Modern Riders (minus Hiccup) meet a time displaced Hiccup who recognize them as his reincarnated friends, even if they don’t remember their former lives.

How To Train Your Lusus - Everyone are trolls on Alternia. Hiccup is a brownblood who’s probably the only troll in existence to get a second Lusus (Toothless) after his first one (Stoick) is killed. Astrid is an oliveblood that Hiccup is flushed for, Fishlegs is a yellowblood, Snotlout is a blueblood, the Twins, Dagur, and Heather are all purplebloods. Dagur killed both his and Heather’s lusus so now he’s trying to take care of her even though she absolutely hates him (and not in a black way), and he had an unrequited pitch thing for Hiccup at one point before they flipped pale (and are actually Moirails now). That’s pretty much all I have for this one.

unnamed Harry Potter AU - Does not actually take place at Hogwarts. Everyone attends Dumstrang (possibly) and the topic everyone avoids is Care of Magical Creatures, because the local Dark Lord is Drago Bludvist. Main trio is Hiccup, Snotlout (Pureblood cousins), and Fishlegs (Muggleborn)… somehow.

Dragon Gang (link) - Mob/Mafia AU set in the vaguely 1920s in a Fake Country so no one can call me out on inaccurate geography.

Rebuilding Bridges - Set in a Multiverse where RTTE and The Hidden World are mutuality exclusive. (Pt.1): After dealing with Drago but before dealing with Grimmborn, Hiccup and Toothless once fought a witch intent on ‘harvesting’ dragons. Now ten years after the dragons have left her apprentice seeks revenge and kidnaps Zephyr and Nuffink, and a panicked Hiccup and Astrid are contacted by the Very Retired and Very Much Done With This Kid witch. Meanwhile in the RTTE-verse, The Dragon Riders only just got back from informing Berk about Johann’s treachery, when some crazy lady spontaneously appears in the middle of the Edge with two terrified children she intends to feed to dragons. Yeah, that’s not happening. (Pt.2, spoilers for this AU I guess???): Zephyr and Nuffink and their parents have safely returned to New Berk, but their world has been shaken by what was and could have been. Zephyr and Nuffink, after bonding with Dagur in the other timeline, decide they want to try and help him in theirs. This was perhaps not their best idea. Meanwhile, the Nightlights escape the watchful eye of their parents to go exploring outside the Hidden World, and quickly meet the hatchlings of their dad’s brother! (so… their cousins, then?)

Something Wild (name subject to change) - Several years after Berk (along with most of the Archipelago) is attacked and taken captive by a far more advanced foe, Stoick is able to free most of his people but what he finds when they get manage to regroup back to their island is less than a relief- Berk ravaged and their elderly and children, left behind by their captors, missing. To make matters worse, the dragons are still out there, now with some kind of devils riding and aiding them. Now Stoick, Gobber, and the rest of the people of Berk must find safety and a way to fight back against they’re new foe, find what happened to those who are missing, and figure out who these dragon riders are and whether they’re friend of foe (gee i wonder where the Berkians went and who the dragon riders are golly what a mystery). (aka the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au i keep trying to create)

Lost (name subject to change) - Alternate attempt at the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au. Several years before the events of the movie could happen, a raid on Berk not by dragons, but by other people, leads to the destruction of an entire generation when the raiders manage to capture the Teenagers of Berk and ship them away. While in captivity, they meet and ultimately befriend the dragons that in another life would be their partners and together they all escape. Unfortunately, they’re Thor-knows-where, and with no one they can trust (or understand) except each other, getting back to Berk might take a while…

The Lego Movie:

Hero with Two Faces of Yellow - Another ‘Emmet and Rex share a body like Good Cop Bad Cop’ AU

Peacemaker AU - Main Lego AU. About a year after the Duplo aliens attack, Emmet is attacked and presumed dead, but he’s actually been taken by General Mayhem to meet Queen Watevra Wana'bi, who remembered and missed her ‘father’. Later, Rex ends up jumping into an entirely different timeline by accident (this one) and decides to try and play the long game by befriending Emmet, who’s now living in the Systar System. That probably won’t work out for him the way he wanted.

Miraculous Ladybug

MiracuClass Knows AU - Prior to Volpina, each member of the MiracuClass finds out the identities of Ladybug and Chat Noir, and just sort of collectively become their secret keepers. Inspired by Epiphanies by PFTones3582 on Fanfiction.net.

Miraculous Sburb AU - The MiracuClass play Sburb and end up dragging a good chunk of Paris in with them when they enter the Medium. Marinette is a Light player, Adrien is a Doom player, and that’s all I got. Gabriel probably definitely dies.

One Is Silver and the Other Gold - aka the Marikimno Brot3 AU. I headcannon that Marinette, Kim, and Nino were close friends as little kids that drifted apart a few years prior to the start of the show. In this AU, that never happened. Also, Alya becomes Adrien’s best friend instead of Nino, and Nathanel becomes their friend too somehow? (someone help Alya, she’s an extrovert and both her friends have social skill levels in the single digits.)

The Ladybug and the Monkey - Main Miraculous Ladybug AU. My take on the ‘Fu chooses Kim to be the second Miraculous wielder instead of Adrien’ AU that I’ve somehow seen multiple times.

Sleeper Miraculous - AU where instead of the Miraculous being handed out, they’re transported magically to their wielders after they’ve proved themselves somehow. The Miraculous still need to be ‘activated’ by the Guardian to be used on either a permanent or temporary basis, so Ladybug still has to go to Master Fu at first before she becomes the new Guardian, but she knows literally none of the other members of Team Miraculous’s identities. They have a chat group, too, where Ladybug updates team members on whose Miraculous she’s going to activate, and both Chloe and Kagami never blow their identities. Contains both mild Classmates + (even milder)Adrien salt and sugar. (define irony: wanting to punch someone in the face for being an a-hole only to realize that said a-hole is you).

Miraculous! Pretty Cure! - Another Pretty Cure AU. Yep.

Mesapia AU - Butterfly!Marinette AU with a few twists - 1) instead of just facing the villainous user of the Ladybug Miraculous, all of the Miraculous have been lost to villains (save for the rabbit). Marinette frequently empowers her classmates (+Adrien, who’s still under house-arrest in this AU, Luka, and Kagami) to fight the Miraculous Villains, who are also all fighting each other; and 2) This isn’t so much a Kwami Swap as a Kwami Scramble, no one uses their canon Miraculous here (except for Fu briefly, and Emilie had the peacock before what happened to her)!

Boys vs Girls AU (name subject to change) - Marinette vs Lila with the Boys (+Kagami) on Marinette’s side and the Girls on Lila’s.

Labyrinth - Almost the entirety of the MiracuClass go missing (+Lila, Luka, & Kagami, -Chloe) and on a related note, eight very young children wake up in an ever-shifting, monster-filled underground labyrinth and grow up together. And two of them have some special, appearance-shifting jewelry…

Mad Gabriel - Miraculous Ladybug x Mad Father, starring Adrien as Aya, Marinette as Dio, Gabriel as Alfred Drevis, Nathalie as Maria, and everyone else as the doctor’s victims (Lila is Ines).

Miraculous Royal AU - A fantasy AU starring the MiracuClass (shocker) spread out across three fantasy kingdoms.

Quartz Butterfly AU - AU in which Jagged Stone takes the role of (a significantly nicer but still villainous) Hawkmoth as Quartz Butterfly, with Penny taking on Mayura’s role as Songbird. (yes i know peacocks aren’t songbirds SHHHH).

MiracuTrio AU - AU based on fanofanimation’s submission to terrible-miraculous-ladybug-aus, where Kim becomes a permanent member of the team after Party Crasher.

Mitterlicht - horror-ish AU inspired partially by various horror games, Lucidstuck, and Underbright (no, really). After receiving their Miraculous for the first time, the temporary heroes start having less-than-restful nights. Things quickly go from bad to worse when fragmented, panic-inducing dreams turn into nightly (and solitary) trips into a dark world full of monsters that want to take something referred to just as their ‘light’- a bright light that acts as both a beacon to the hostile creatures and the only way to return to consciousness every night -which just so happen to be in the exact spot (and in many cases, are also vaguely the same shape) of their Miraculouses.

Same Side, Same Session AU - Combines both of the two immediately above AUs, The Beta Kids and Beforus Trolls have a session together that fails and gets Scratched, then the Alternians and Alphas play the game together while the pre-scratch players (all alive) travel to their session and have Meteorstuck Shenanigans.

Relief Was Just a Dream (name subject to change) - aka the mandatory Troll Rebellion AU, inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on A03. Sweeps after Karkat and Feferi are (seemingly) culled, Ace Legislacerator Terezi Pyrope -one of the best despite knowing she’s one wrong move away from being culled for her disability- is called in to investigate a series of traitorous attacks on more and more ships. Weirdly, the trolls seen most in the attacks don’t even seem to exist, all seem to bleed a painfully familiar cherry red, and have powers that even Her Imperial Condescension doesn’t seem to have. (not a no-game au)

Freetime AU (name subject to change) - AU where Bro leaves Dave on Dad Egbert’s doorstep, and Dave and John grow up as brothers.

Pokemon Network - Hub lives Pokemon AU with at least two protagonist teams. Team A: Lan, Hub, Mayl, Dex & Yai in Kanto. Team B: Roll, Glyde, Gutsman (Gus) in Kalos. What are Chaud and Protoman/Blues up to? ~Secrets~

Sailor Moon:

Inverse Corruption - When Beryl scours the Earth looking for her reincarnated generals she fails to find them, but she does manage to find the senshi instead. Sailor Moon has to unknowingly face the very girls who were supposed to protect her, fighting side-by-side with the Shitennou instead. (the boys are highschoolers to the girls middleschoolers)

Hazbin Hotel:

Infernal Relations - Why did Lucifer and Lilith wait so long to have a child? Simple; they didn’t. Unbeknownst to Charlie, her parents both had and lost a child thousands of years before she was born, a fact that will have far more of an effect on her hotel than she could possibly realize (even if she had known).

Apprentice Charlie AU - AU where Charlie gets into a fight with Lucifer and leaves before she ever thinks to create her hotel and Alastor ends up finding amusement by taking on an apprentice. (inspired by Helluva Teacher by Sol_Victoria on A03)

Phineas and Ferb:

Cursed Cats AU - AU based on the song Black Cats of Halloween. Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are cursed by a demon who turns them into black cats, save for on Halloween night. They’re then thrown into a world of magic and have to find each other, their way back home, and a way to break their curse, preferably in that order.

Online Gamer AU - no one dies/non-despair AU where no one is a super/ultra highschool level anything, no one has met each other in person, and they all play Among Us together. Junko always dies first and she’s low-key going to hurt someone over it.

unnamed AU inspired by ask-the-dr-reset-kids - After an incident that forces Hope’s Peak to temporarily close it’s doors, Class 78 all transfer to a different school. Junko is in jail, Mukuro is coping, Izuru is looming somewhere, the Ultimate Despair are waiting like sleeper agents to cause the The Most Despair Inducing Event in History, and Makoto is straight up not having a good time (and has very good reasons not to tell anyone).

After receiving and turning down a job to assassinate a certain up-and-coming politician, The Black Mask (Makoto) alerts his would-be victim, an old former friend, that someone is out for his life.

Remnants of Hope AU - AU that takes place after the end of School Mode, with the class not being picked up by the future foundation right away. (does this. does this actually qualify as an au i’m not sure.)

Soulmates AU - In a world where most people are colorblind until meeting their soulmate, Makoto Naegi walks into Hope’s Peak Academy colorblind, blacks out, and wakes up to color. As it turns out, the same thing happened to everyone else!

Scrapbook AU - After entering into Hope’s Peak Academy, Makoto started a scrapbook/photo album of himself, his classmates, and eventually even the class above his own during their time on and off school. It soon became a class diary of sorts after being discovered, shared among everyone… then a chronicle of the events leading up to Class 77 going missing, The Tragedy starting, and Class 78 sealing themselves inside the school bunker, before returning to it’s original purpose as Class 78 lived inside their homemade bunker. In canon, Junko found and burned it. In this timeline, it’s an amnesiac Makoto and his classmates who find it, hidden under the floor in Makoto’s room.

Amnesia AU - A boy wakes up in a school(?) with no memories of where he is, how he got here, or even who he is. As it turns out, there are fourteen other people here… and all of them have the same memory loss he does! (may or may not be an IF Bad End AU)

Polychain AU - Another different Victims and Blackends au, that extends well beyond the original Killing Game. The Tragedy occurs very differently in this one… initially. Also features Junko escaping after the Killing Game, and Hajime and Shuichi being half-brothers and kids of the survivors.

Unnamed AU where Leon and Taka also attended Makoto and Sayaka’s middle school.

Ghost AU - After being killed, the victims and blackened are forced to stick around and watch the Killing Game happen, believing they'll be allowed to move on after they leave. Turns out, they're very much wrong- but at least after it's over their classmates can see them! Too bad they're the only ones.

Teachers Assistant AU - inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net. After Nagito blows up a building and gets suspended, Chisa is forced to take a Teacher’s Assistant or be fired. Somehow, a very reluctant Makoto gets the job, despite being in the class below her own. Cross-class shenanigans ensue.

Unnamed Timetravel AU inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net where Makoto and Alter Ego, the only survivors of the Killing Game, are sent back in time to Makoto’s first day attending Hope’s Peak - Makoto mentally and Alter Ego physically. Not as dark as the premise sounds, at least theoretically.

Crossover

Dagla!Adrien AU - Adrien isn’t the son of Gabriel and Emilie Agreste, but instead his parents are a Modern Dagur and Mala. He still works for Gabriel as a model, but otherwise has had a very different upbringing (most notably the inclusion of a lot of people who have cared about him for his entire life, such as his best friend Zephyr Haddock) and acts more like Chat Noir both with and without the mask. He still befriends his canon friends, becomes Chat Noir, and falls in love with Ladybug. (HTTYD x Miraculous Ladybug)

unnamed Adventure Time x Star Vs AU

Miracutale - Lila pushes Marinette down a hole, Adrien tries to catch her but fails. Undertale ensues. (Miraculous Ladybug x Undertale)

Sailor Bella (name subject to change) - AU inspired by some art from Turning-the-Tides, Princess Serenity reincarnates not into Usagi Tsukino, but Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, and her Senshi are reincarnated into the boys. I have no idea who Endymion became if he exists at all in this AU. (Sailor Moon x Phineas and Ferb)

unnamed three-way crossover between Harry Potter, Miraculous Ladybug, and How to Train Your Dragon.

unnamed Steven Universe x Undertale AU - After returning from the Jungle Moon, Steven and Connie end up stranded in an alternate timeline where they meet what appears to be another half-gem going by the name of False Topaz (Frisk). Things get a little more tricky when it turns out that gems and humans coexist somewhat… on one side of a giant, seemingly uncross-able mountain range live humans, on the other gems, and after a war between the two a few centuries ago, both cultures have a kill on sight policy. To make things more complicated, gems seem to be very different in this timeline. (note: Frisk is not actually a gem, just disguised as one)

unnamed Undertale x Star Vs AU - There’s a new face at the Silver Bell Ball - Frisk, heir and ambassador for the Kingdom of… Monsters?! Star and Frisk are quick to befriend each other, but despite that, Star can’t help but feel that Frisk doesn’t like her… And Frisk may have more than one secret to share… or maybe to keep.

unnamed Miraculous Ladybug x Danganronpa AU - The Worst Most Despair Inducing Event In History was localized to Japan (but the effects are spreading), and the six survivors of Hope’s Peek, aided by Kagami’s father, whom Byakuya naturally has connections to, immigrate to France to pick up the pieces of their lives. Meanwhile in France, Ms. Bustier’s class gain five new transfer students after the events of Miracle Queen.

“This is a stupid idea,” Astrid complained as she sat down.

When Snotlout suggested that after the harvest feast they all have a bonfire, on one of the old watchtowers, it didn’t seem like a bad idea, but when they got there he insisted that they ‘Honor the upcoming winter and the darkness it brings with it,’ by telling scary stories. Which was stupid. They were vikings, little could scare them, they live through too many battles, too many missing limbs, too many blood thirsty dragons.

Well, the dragons weren’t a problem anymore, hadn’t been for about four years. Some of the Hooligans were okay with that, no more dragon raids meant less death, others lived with the fear that the dragon raids will come back and no one will be safe.

“This is a great idea,” Snotlout countered. “And the scary stories are not for us, they’re for Hiccup.”

“Hiccup isn’t even here,” Fishlegs pointed out and threw a long onto the burning fire.

“He will be,” Snotlout promised. “I invited him. But look, we –“ he gestured to himself and the twins who were sitting next to him, “- have been thinking –“

“Not a good idea,” Astrid stated and crossed her arms as she stared back at the now glaring Snotlout.

“Very funny Astrid,” he rolled his eyes and continued to explain. “He acts all tough now, but I guarantee that he will be trembling in fear when he leaves here.”

“He lived through losing a limb, do you think ghost stories are going to scare him?” Astrid asked.

“Here comes Astrid, trying to defend her boyfriend,” Ruffnut teased and a second later had to dodge a rock Astrid found near her feet and decided to throw at the smiling girl.

“He’s not my boyfriend.” She growled a frown overtaking her face.

“You do think he’s hot though,” Ruffnut continued without fear. A deep blush joined Astrid’s frown.

“Okay!” Astrid yelled, giving up on denying for feelings and hoping a change of subject world work. “What kind of stories do you want to tell him? He’s not fifteen, trolls don’t scare him anymore.”

“I don’t think he was scared of trolls in the first place,” Fishlegs added. “When Gobber told us about them, Hiccup decided to search the forest for their hiding place while I didn’t step foot in the forest for about a year.”

The gang grew silent, trying to think of things that would scare Hiccup. Hiccup had changed a lot in four years, the start of the change could be traced back to when he insisted that he shot down a Night Furry during the very last raid Berk had. When no one believed him, he gave up. It wasn’t instant, his change, it happened gradually.

First, he dropped out of dragon training after a few too many brushes with death, no one opposed him on that decision, they thought he finally admitted his fear of dragons was bigger than the need to prove himself. Then, he started spending almost all of his free time in the forge or in the forest, he also stopped trying to make his crazy inventions that destroyed Berk on occasion. He also started disappearing way more often, not that anyone noticed at first.

They first noticed that Hiccup disappeared more often when the dragons from the academy escaped. It happened the day after Astrid was chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare, it seemed like the dragons had broken out by themselves and Berk went into lock down, and Hiccup was nowhere to be found.

At the time, Stoick and basically the whole tribe feared he had been taken by the escaped dragons, but they held out hope that he had just wandered off somewhere. When asked when they had seen Hiccup last, no one could answer, the best answer came from Gobber who said he had seen the boy a day prior.

Search parties were made and vikings went into the forest to try to find him. For hours nothing was found and the worst was assumed, then Gobber decided he was going to go out one final time before night fell.

Gobber came back a few hours into the night with an unconscious Hiccup in his arms. Hiccup was alive, but his left leg was gone. Gothi had managed to save Hiccup’s life, after he woke up Hiccup told the tribe that he had went out to the forest and was attacked by wild boars who ripped off his leg when he tried to defend himself by kicking them. When asked about the various burns he had sustained, he said that he was carrying a torch and when he fell, the torch had fallen on him and made the injuries.

The tribe believed him. Why wouldn’t they? Hiccup was extremely clumsy and unlucky on a good day.

The missing leg was the biggest turning point for the boy. After that, he stopped responding to the bullying Snotlout and the twins put him through. He became more confident in himself, but he didn’t stop going into the forest, sometimes he disappeared for days at a time, but managed to show himself in the village before anyone could ask where he was.

One day the gang finally figured out why he went into the forest that often. He was training himself. That day Snotlout had decided that Hiccup had gone long enough without a prank pulled on him, and found a rotten chicken egg and decided to throw it at Hiccup just because he could. That did not end well for Snotlout, as Hiccup had caught the flying egg and threw it back at Snotlout before the boy could react.

The fact that Hiccup couldn’t have seen the egg in time, because he had been reading a book, and the fact that a huge bruise had bloomed in the place that the egg made contact with Snotlout proved two things: somehow Hiccup had developed a super-fast reaction time and he was strong. Stronger than his lean figure suggested.

The gang considered their theory confirmed when one hot summer day, about a year after the egg incident and a few months after Hiccup’s growth spurt, the gang had decided to get their weapons repaired. Hiccup was the only one working the forge as the hot weather made it hard for Gobber to work easily. And that day, Hiccup had been without his tunic and the gang had been shocked when they saw his visible muscles, and various scars that could’ve come from tree branches and poorly handled weapons.

After that, the gang had been certain that Hiccup’s disappearances were because he was training in the forest. They had tried to get him to admit it, but he didn’t budge. They tried to get him to join their friend group, yet he remained distant, he hung out with them sometimes, but they didn’t actually know that mush about him.

That brings it back to the dilemma at hand. What would scare Hiccup? No one was close enough to him to say with certainty that they knew.

“Oh!” Fishlegs finally exclaimed and started rummaging through his satchel that he brought with him almost everywhere. “Maybe this will work, I bought it from Johann a few days ago.” He pulled out a fairly small book from his satchel and handed it to Snotlout.

“’Tales of the Dragon Master’” Snotlout read. “Isn’t the Dragon Master the guy that appeared when the dragon raids stopped?”

“Yes, Johann said that the Dragon Master is active in the other parts of the archipelago and that this book was written by someone who compiled all the stories that people told about him.” Fishlegs confirmed. “Johann warned me that some of the stories were not for the faint of heart.”

A sinister smile made his way to Snotlout’s face. He looked the book over, it was a decent size, and it would be perfect. The Dragon Master was a legend to Berk’s people, mostly because no one from Berk had ever seen this man, but the few stories that made their way to Berk were not very nice. Stories of the Dragon Master killing with the help of dragons were prevalent and if the book had stories like these it would surely scare Hiccup, as he would often leave the room if the Dragon Master was talked about.

“Hey guys, sorry I’m late,” came Hiccup’s voice. The gang jumped, no one heard Hiccup walk up the steps of the watchtower as they were studying the book in Snotlout’s hands.

“You’re just in time,” Snotlout assured him as he sat down in the last available seat that was near Astrid. “We just decided to pass the time by reading a new book Fishlegs got recently.”

“You and reading?” Hiccup raised an eyebrow skeptically. “Are you sure it’s a good idea?” Astrid failed to hide the smile at Hiccup’s question that was so similar to the one she had asked prior.

“It’s a great idea,” Snotlout snarled, the jabs at his intelligence were starting to annoy him. “But it is a scary book, so if you’re going to be too scared we could do something else.”

“Bring it on,” Hiccup smirked with a roll of his eyes. The challenge in Snotlout voice was clear and Hiccup had nothing better to do, so watching Snotlout as he failed to scare him was a fun way to pass time.

“But first!” Tuffnut interjected, “What kind of bonfire would this be without mead?” He asked and gestured to a barrel he had hidden behind himself.

He also had some cups hidden next to it, he took them and started filling the cups with mead and handing them out to everyone. All of them had already tried mead at least once, so this was not a novelty, they were nineteen after all and had first tried mead long ago.

“Okay,” Snotlout set down his cup next to himself and rubbed his hands together, he cracked open the book. “Let’s start”

1) How many works do you have on AO3? Uhh... 7 works!

2) What’s your total AO3 word count? Oh, gosh. Math, why!?... Okay, I think it’s ~534,610

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? I am not listing every single series I have in RoW, but I’ll list my favorites and ones I’ve written fic for individually: Httyd, RotG, Tangled, Brave, Trollhunters, Voltron, and I also used to have some fics for a couple anime and for the Legend of Zelda, but they have been lost to the void.

4) What are your top five fics by kudos? Well, I only have 7 on Ao3 X’D, let’s see...

5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to. I’ve been less vocal on both FF and Ao3 because I’m busy and stressed a lot of the time, but I used to answer every single comment. Don’t know if I’ll ever go back to that, but I am trying to be more attentive and if someone poses a legit question that I can answer without spoilers than I try to always reply :)

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? ...Umm, out of what I have on Ao3? Probably Dragons in Shadows. Problem is I only have RoW up on Ao3, and as of right now I don’t think that’s going to change. Fandoms/antis and whatnot are scaring me away from posting writing tbh... I’ve got enough stress in my life y’all.

7) Do you write crossovers? As of right now? Exclusively *fingerguns* ;)

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic? I... Yeah, I think I’ve had some hate here and there, but it was all super minor stuff. Like trolls saying “this sucks” and nothing else. I once had someone get angry that I wasn’t writing the story the way they wanted it, but that’s about it.

9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I’ve never tried... I don’t think I’m going to... But maybe one day?...

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don’t think so? I have the one series in a very small fandom, I think it’d be pretty hard to miss. But if anyone ever happens to notice, hit me up please!

11) Have you ever had a fic translated? I have not. No one has ever approached me, but if someone asked I would say yes, so long as they gave credit :)

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, I have not. I think it’d be a fun experience tho!

13) What’s your all-time favourite ship? Ahh... Okay, mm, I don’t think I have one? I only have a couple ships that I’m really into and I don’t talk about them with people because they’re normally rare-pairs or disliked... Anyways, within the context of my writing, I’ll say Jim Lake/Emma Frost. Those two make me happy and they’re pretty cute together.

14) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? At the rate I’m going? RoW as a series. I’m DYING. Writers block, stress, moving. It’s awful, but I’m trying really hard guys, don’t give up on me! I’ve got nearly three chapters stock piled! I promise Imma start posting again soon!

15) What are your writing strengths? I’ve been told I’m very good at writing descriptions and fight scenes.

16) What are your writing weaknesses? Everything.

Okay, fine. Hmm, I guess there are times when I really struggle with dialogue. Making it sound natural and in character... and Show Don’t Tell is a rule that I am breaking constantly. I overwrite so much.

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language? I always get uncomfortable trying to write in a foreign language because I feel bad about butchering it. I would love to be able to write in other languages, but it’s impossible to know if it’s right/good: does it sound natural? is this something people say? Is google translate correct because I went back and forth a couple times and got something completely different???

Long story short, if I have someone who is well-versed in the language to help me out, I will gladly put it in my story, but I, personally, have the language ability of a parrot: Cheap imitation. I barely know what sounds human in English.

18) What was the first fandom you ever wrote for? Honestly? Pretty sure it was Digimon way back in the day...

19) What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

Dudes, this question is so hard because all of the RoW is a set. One without the other just isn’t right, so it’s really hard to pick a favorite. I’m really proud of all of them and I’ve been working on them for so long I can see how I’ve grown and I’m just... Even the first few books I can still look back on them without cringing because I honestly feel I did well with them (even if there are some things I would change now that I’m older and more experienced). This series is just close to my heart and I love them all. I suppose... School of Bravery was the most fun. Lots of joking around and fun plots points to play with. Dragons In Shadows was definitely the most dramatic and FEELING one, and I thrived with that. I think out of all of them War of Destiny is the biggest, most ambitious one out of all of them and it’s the conclusion so there’s a lot on it but I feel like I can handle it because of how far I’ve come in my writing. I don’t know guys. This whole series is just really close to my heart and each book, for me, represents a step in my growth as a writer...

That got real sentimental real quick... ANYWAYS!

2019 in animation - very selected summary

So, I dunno if anyone’s noticed, but this year was crazy strong when it comes to animation, both in terms of amount and quality of it. No matter what type you liked - traditional...

Anyway, no matter what type of animation is your favourite, this year gave you something. and I’m gonna go chronologically, listing those that I have been able to see. Keep in mind, day only has 24 hours, so I couldn’t see every new season or premiere (for example, I had no interest in OK KO, or She-Ra). Some spoilers below. And Gifs. LOTS OF gifs.

In January: we were still riding on the Spiderverse bandwagon from last year,, which culminated with an Oscar in February. And though as I’ve said, the movie would have worked better imho as a, say, Netflix series, as only two of the spider-people were properly fleshed out, I have to admit, it was a well-earned prize.

Then we were hit by the finale of Steven Universe, and while some complained about the another redemption of cosmic regime, it was an incredibly satisfying ending to a great cartoon... so much so that a whole movie and an epilogue series was made.

plus, it had a segment animated by James Baxter, so it’s automatic win..

January also blessed us with a reboot of another old-forgotten property, Carmen Sandiego, with her second season arriving in October. And it proved that reboots do make sense, but only if you actually do something with it. The story was fresh, creative, and yet, similar in its serialised form to capture the imagination of viewers. Also, grappling hooks for the win.

February was the month of dragons. Not only we got the conclusion of How to Train Your Dragon franchise, but Netlfix gave us second season of The Dragon Prince. While I still consider HTTYD 1 as the best movie of the franchise, as it cleverly told the story of a conflict without any obvious villain, HTTYD 3 was a satisfying conclusion, strengthened by the Homecoming special in November.

TDP S2 on the other hand, did everything season 1 did, except better. For once, the studio finally broke their piggy bank and bought a new graphics card, so the choppy 15FPS animation of S1 is gone. The story got darker, more mature, yet whimsical, and it only made us hungry for more. Luckily, S3 was just around the corner.

March gave us season 2 of Craig of the Creek. I have to admit, I missed out on this cartoon in 2018, and it was a humongous mistake. CotC is quite possibly the most wholesome cartoon out there, telling amazing story about a boy, his friends, and his family, glorifying the mundane adventures in the creek to truly epic proportions. The family is especially important part, I do not remember a cartoon where bonds between family members were as well written as here. Definitely a must-watch if you have missed it as well.

On 8th of March, the International Women’s day, DC Superhero Girls 2019, aka My Little Pony But Humans And With Superpowers, started, and it was a blast. Creator. Lauren Faust, has once again proven that whatever she touches turns into gold. The shorts were funny, clever, and changed just enough of the DC universe to feel familiar, yet show us new, interesting scenarios.

In April, Missing Link had its premiere, showing that traditional, stop motion animation not only has place in modern times, but it can deliver spectacular scenes, though of course, we expected nothing less of studio Laika.

In May, one of Disney’s long-running series, Star vs The Forces of Evil had its finale, and that brings us to the first screech of the list. Many people complained about the direction the show has taken, some claiming it has gone off-track in S3, some saying it was S4 that dropped the quality. Some, like me, saw nothing wrong with it, but the finale let people dissatisfied. If anything, it was too short, and definitely could use an epilogue movie that would tie some of the remaining plot threads in something bigger than one single pan-shot.

Rest in piece, laser puppies

Wait, they’re alive? Well, then... rest in piece, Hekapoo and her puppies.

This month also presented a first contender for this Summer’s line-up, Twelve Forever. The cartoon took us into wild, bizarre land of imagination, and offered quite a few very mature lessons about growing up and acknowledging one’s responsibilities. It also provided much needed representation, both in terms of colour and sexuality.

Sadly, amidst scandals with its creator, the show was canned, though it’s also Netflix’s fault for not marketing it enough.

A-and maybe the show was just a tad too... creepy....

Also somewhere in May some Games might have been lost and some Thrones burned, but no one cares about it anymore. i think it was popular for a while, though.

However, 12 Forever was just a start. June gave us Amphibia, my personal top-bingeable cartoon of the year. Disney has hit a jackpot, giving us an incredibly creative fantasy show with rich mythology and enough emotional conflict to create fantastic storytelling. The only slight complain was the scheduling, as episodes aired daily, meaning the season was over by the end of the month. But honestly, the amount of humour and adventures with Anne in the forg world we got compensates that thousandfold. Book 2, coming in 2020, can only makes thing more interesting.

Going for a hat-trick, in August we got the premiere of a cartoon that I was betting would be my personal favourite, Infinity Train... Until I learned of its schedule, even weirder than Amphibia’s. While Amphibia took a right turn, and gave us 20 episodes, a perfect amount for both plot and filler stories, Infinity Train... turned out to be a mini-series with just ten episodes, airing daily, two per night. And that, in my opinion, was a fatal mistake. Not only we now know that the story is not over, as Season 2 arrives in January, but the short episodes and its density gave very little time to leave an impact on us. If it was at least spaced out, then maybe I wouldn’t be so judgemental, but for me it was a blow that deflated the balloon I was clinging to since 2016 pilot. Still, there is more to come, and the story was more than interesting, so we’ll see if I get used to the pocket mini-story arcs.

September. Remember Steven Universe? That cartoon that ended? SIKE, HAVE A TV MOVIE. And by gods, old and new, what a phenomenal movie it was. A musical telling its own, contained story of betrayal, trust and finding yourself, based on Rebecca Sugar’s mis-adventure with a phone that reset itself... I have seen this movie at least ten times, and its OST is one I come back to constantly on Spotify. The songs are amazing, catchy, incredibly-well written, deep, and, as usual, send very adult messages about growing up and finding one’s identity, which SU was already famous for. Must watch.

Continuing the theme of reboots that actually make sense, Ducktales finished its second season after duck-bombs in March and May, with a heart-breaking story of Della Duck and humongous finale, extending DT’s universe to other Disney Afternoon shows. Season 3 promises even more, and DT is a golden standard of making a reboot that stays faithful to a more than half-a-century old material, while adding enough material to keep things fresh and funny for modern audience. What I’m saying is, Disney could really learn from Disney (pictured below).

But while some things start, some have to finish. October saw the end of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, a show that has taken Internet by the storm in 2010 and...

...okay, cringy brony things aside, this was a clever re-imagining of the decades-old property, and its popularity, especially amongst the people outside the target demography is a proof of its quality. The ending was perfectly serviceable, nothing that stood out, in my opinion, but it definitely didn’t disappoint either. MLP FiM will live in history as the cartoon about pastel tiny horses that made adult men cry and gave them enough passion to create years of of visual crack. And porn. Lots of porn.

November: Just In case if one season of human and elf adventures was enough, The Dragon Prince Season 3 arrived in November, and it provided a thrilling conclusion to its first smaller story arc. Though I wish the season was longer, and it dived into the history of Elves’ and Humans’ animosities, I would be lying if I said I didn’t binge-watch it all in one sitting, gripping my chair.

Do you like Green Eggs and Ham? Yes, yes, I do, Sam-I-am. Question: how do you take a classic poem, made purposefully of limited vocabulary, and turn it into a thirteen episode series with a beginning, middle, and end? The answer: You add bunch of weird stuff and the mother of all complicated backstories... at least by the original’s standards. And here’s the thing: this is the first Dr Seuss’ adaption where it works. Somehow the writers were able to stretch each verse of the famous poem into a surprisingly emotional story about friendship, losing and restoring hope, as well as following your dreams. Plus, it gave us Fargo-esque team of Bad Guys. Come on.

And just in time for Christmas season, we were blessed with Klaus, a clear contender for a Christmas classic in my opinion. This STUNNINGLY beautiful traditionally animated original Netflix movie is a very, very clever reinterpretation of St. Nick’s mythos, telling a deep, and very realistic story of greed and selfishness, and how can one turn their life around by changing their life, one present at a time.

We’re about to end the year, so HOW ABOUT SOME EMOTIONAL TRAUMA, KIDS? Yes, Steven Universe Future is here, and from the looks of it, Steven’s problems are just beginning, since they mature with him. The show’s too real, man. However, it also provided much needed levity, giving us a familiar taste. Nothing more to say, as the show is still airing, and it will surely give us more emotional moments.

And that’s a wrap for 2019. As I’ve said, it is not exhaustive by any means, and from the looks of it, 2020 is gonna be as packed as its prequel. So yeah, the world might be on fire, but at least we got some nice cartoon to binge-watch.

Modern AU where the Dragon Rider gang are at Disneyland Paris

(Yes I’m writing this because I’m at Disneyland Paris)

The first day in the park, just after they’ve gotten off the Eurostar, everyone immediately wants to do different things. In the end, Hiccup decides they’ll tackle the smaller park first since it’s already 3pm.

It’s ultimately decided that it’s NOT a good idea to split up - there are lots of people and Hiccup doesn’t want to lose anyone...especially not the twins, who already look like they want to start mischief.

Most of the gang want to go on the big rides, with Snotlout bragging that he’s not afraid of any of them. However, the minute he’s in place for the Rock’n’Rollercoaster, he starts to panic. Everyone else is whooping and cheering - Snotlout feels slightly sick.

Astrid is a definite thrill seeker and goes on every single ride. She smiles and laughs when Hiccup panics and asks her to hold his hand on some of them, but she does it anyway.

Hiccup and Astrid sit on most of the rides together, as do the twins. Fishlegs isn’t a fan of the big rides so he offers to stay with their stuff and wait - though Hiccup and Astrid make him try some of the less intense ones anyway. He has more fun than he thought he would.

They all invest in Disney hats/headwear, of course. Ruffnut and Tuffnut find the most bizarre, crazy Mickey ears they can find, plus the massive white Mickey and Minnie gloves. Snotlout opts for the Mickey Sorcerer Hat. Fishlegs gets a plain pair of Mickey ears, gushing with excitement. Astrid wears a pair of “unlock the fun” Minnie ears; Hiccup wears a Disneyland Paris baseball cap, not wanting to be extravagant. Astrid rolls her eyes and later convinces him to also buy a pair of Mickey ears so that they match in photos.

They explore the main park on the second day, and theyre all in awe of the castle (though Snotlout pretends he’s not)

They head to Frontierland first, going on the Thunder Mountain ride. They all enjoy it, and the twins spend ten minutes laughing at everyone’s photos afterwards.

Snotlout makes a fuss about being paired with Fishlegs on some of the rides where it’s two per row at first, but secretly he’s glad not to be on his own since he ends up getting dizzy or terrified on some of them.

Hiccup’s metal leg causes some issues with some of the rides because the staff are concerned it counts as a loose article and might fall off. He assures them that it’s securely attached to his leg, rather hurriedly when Astrid looks like she’s going to get mad at the staff.

Much to his chagrin, Hiccup also has to take his leg off every time they go through security to get into the parks; it sets off the metal detectors, so he has to take it off and hop through uneasily. The first time, Astrid tries to help him but the security told her off because only one person can go through it at a time.

They later find out that there’s an entrance for disabled guests, though Hiccup doesn’t like to think of himself as disabled. All of the others repeatedly tell him to just use it so he can avoid being caught out by the metal detector.

The twins are the ones who bring up meet and greets, which Fishlegs agrees with enthusiastically. Hiccup tells everyone that they all pick at least one character - that way, everyone gets to choose what they like/want. Everyone poses with each character.

Tuffnut wants to meet Peter Pan, and everyone is bemused when Tuff and Peter spend five minutes making “cock a doodle doo!” noises together. Ruffnut chooses Chip and Dale for obvious reasons; everyone laughs afterwards, voting which Thorston is Chip and which is Dale. Fishlegs votes to meet Mickey, saying that you can’t beat a classic. Snotlout complains at first that it’s for kids - but then he sees that Darth Vader does a meet and greet, and he gets excited. Astrid chooses to meet Woody and Jessie at their greet, and even though the characters can’t talk, she still beams happily when Jessie gestures to her braid in admiration. Hiccup struggles to choose at first, not sure if there’s actually a character he’d like to meet - he’s just happy that his friends and girlfriend are having the time of their lives. They’re walking to Discoveryland when they see Stitch do impromptu meets - and he goes for it. They all enjoy every meet and greet they go to, even Snotlout.

For some reason, Hiccup finds himself quite taken with Stitch - somehow, he reminds him of his dog Toothless (yes this is a reference to how HTTYD and Lilo + Stitch were created by the same people). Astrid fondly teases him for buying a small Stitch plush later during the holiday, but then kisses his cheek and buys the matching Angel one. (The others tease them both until Astrid glares at them threateningly)

They all end up with toys despite the fact they’re not little kids. Hiccup obviously has his little Stitch to keep him company; Astrid has the matching purple-pink Angel one as well as a tiny version of the Cheshire Cat. Fishlegs geeks out over the Star Wars merchandise, buying himself a plush Yoda. Snotlout buys himself a mini Sorcerer Mickey to match his hat. The twins buy Chip and Dale, of course, and then splash out on other toys; Tuff gets a Mickey, Donald, and an €80 Simba that he can hardly carry, whilst Ruff gets herself a Minnie, Daisy and Little Green Alien from Toy Story.

Astrid manages to talk the whole gang into going on the Hyperspace Mountain ride. By the end of it, nearly all of them are crying. Snotlout has nearly crapped himself, Fishlegs is shaking as he clambers off the ride, the twins are speechless. Hiccup stands, swerves, and has to have Astrid help him off because his legs feel too weak to function. He nearly gags, his stomach turning uncomfortably and his lunch rising back up. Astrid is the only one wanting to do it again.

“Come on, it’s fun, babe!” “Astrid...I love you but I am NOT doing that again! I like my breakfast being inside me, thank you very much!”

In the gift shop after the Star Tours attraction, Hiccup and Fishlegs both geek out over Star Wars merchandise whilst everyone else looks a bit baffled and amused.

The first day in the main park, they don’t realize that there’s a parade and miss it completely. The second day, they end up at the back very far away and unable to see much other than the top of the floats. Finally, Astrid orders everyone to sit their asses on the curb a whole hour before the parade and they wait in the heat for it to start. Most of them are glad just to sit down since there’s been a lot of walking, waiting and standing around. Hiccup accidentally freaks a few kids out when he takes off his leg to massage his sore stump.

They watch the Disney Illuminations on their last night - having learnt from the parade debacle, they have dinner and end up waiting in a good spot for three hours for the show to start. It pays off when they’re all left in awe. Everyone whoops and cheers at the Pirates, Lion King and Star Wars sequences especially, “ooh”ing and “aww” ing at the fireworks and lasers.

As the show draws to a close, Hiccup puts an arm around Astrid, and she lays a head on his shoulder. Neither of them say anything, they just enjoy the moment whilst it lasts.

Leaving the park immediately after the Illuminations, however, is not so fun. Thousands of people trying to rush for buses, pushing and shoving each other...it’s sheer luck that none of them lose each other in the crowds. Someone’s foot accidentally catches Hiccup’s prosthetic and he nearly falls flat on his face, much to his embarrassment.

Snotlout and twins end up with serious sunburn from not wearing sun cream. In the end, Astrid forces them to do it before they leave the hotel each morning.

They all go on the Twilight tower of terror - Astrid, Hiccup and Fishlegs are in the front three seats on the left, Snotlout and the twins on the right three front seats. All of them whoop and scream at the drop, nearly flying out of their seats. Hiccup enjoys it because for a second, as they’re falling, he feels alive and like he actually is flying.

They’re all really sad to leave, and agree that they have to come again at some point in the near future - together, of course, because half of the fun is down to the people you’re with.

Trying to get through customs/security on the way home with a Simba plush as tall as he is causes Tuff a slight problem - it’s too big to fit on the baggage conveyor belt, so they have to scan it with the wands and have him carry it through separately.

Astrid sets off the metal detector at security because she’s been pin collecting/trading, using a Peter Pan lanyard. She has about 20 different pins on her.

Hiccup is so exhausted that he falls asleep on the train, head against the window as he snores softly. Astrid, who is next to him, smiles and simply brushes the hair from his face fondly. He deserves a rest after making sure all of them had the best holiday, she decides - the reason it’s been so successful is mostly down to Hiccup keeping them all organized and planning the day ahead during breakfast. Their holiday could have sucked hard (definitely would have sucked for Astrid) if not for Hiccup keeping the group safe the whole time)

Why I like them

He’s super funny and fun to watch. His character is interesting and so is his background. In the series it’s revealed he’s a lot more like Hiccup than we think. He just wants to prove himself to his dad and he tends to fail a lot. The introduction of dragon training just made that harder.

Why I don’t

Sometimes he can be annoying, but other than that I don’t really despise him.Favorite episode (scene if movie)

The first movie where he’s describing how he’ll take down a dragon and defend Gobber’s missing limbs. That has to be one of my fave scenes in all of the first movie tbh.Favorite season/movie

RTTE because he was a lot more mature and once he realized Hiccup and Astrid were dating he backed off. He also seems a bit more confident in himself.Favorite line

“Snotlout! Snotlout! Oi! Oi! Oi!” and “I swear I'm so angry right now. I'll avenge your beautiful hand and your beautiful foot. I'll chop off the legs of every dragon I fight, with my face!”

Favorite outfit

He doesn’t have many but his rtte outfit. It fits him super well.OTP

Okay okay okay listen. I don’t have a proper otp but but but but but buuuuuuttttttttttt did you see the part where he catches the bouquet or whatever in HTTYD3 and then looks over at Eret? I know that scene is real, fight me on it. I totally wasn’t hallucinating.

Brotp

I wish him and Hiccup had interacted more because I feel like they’d have so many crazy adventures. I also think him and Gustav are like practically brothers. Snotlout finally has someone who looks UP to him and it’s super sweet.

Head Canon

He’s hella Bi. His love of Fishlegs when he was hypnotized was crazy(plus the fact he kissed him more than once). He flirted with Astrid and then later Ruffnut and very weirdly Hiccup’s mom...also the bouquet thing with Eret that I totally didn’t hallucinate.Unpopular opinion

I don’t know much of an unpopular opinion, but I think he’s kinda cute? Especially in HTTYD 2 and RTTE.A wish

Monthly update

Doing it just because i’m super lazy at the moment (:

- I went to Prague for 2 days. To the John Powell concert, where they played music from all 3 HTTYD movies and movies like Solo, Mr. and Mrs. Smith etc.

AND GOSH IT WAS AMAZZING D: it was my dream since... 2012 i think. And i cried like crazy while listening to the orchestra. Not regretting anything. And i also got to spent great time with my lovely friend Dinora. She’s the nicest person i know, seriously. I will always be amazed of her kindness.

The only downfall of this was the way back home. I had a flight from Prague to Helsinki and then a bus to St. Petersburg. My flight was delayed by 8 hours, five of them we were in the airport and three more in the airplane. And then two more actually flying. So... i missed my bus, which was the last bus that day. I had to spent the night at the airport, thank god Dinora lent me some money. So i rented one of capsule beds and got some sleep. Felt like an astronaut for a night xD

And nothing special really happened since then. Spent a few weekends with mom, then she flew back home.

Went to see HTTYD 3, of course. I love the ending, but the rest of the movie not so much. But i will most definitely watch it again. I sobbed like crazy, jeez. Eyes red, headache and all that.

Since mom went home (it’s been a week), i feel like just lying, eating and doing nothing. Idk what is it, but i just don’t feel motivated to do anything. I need to kick myself in the butt and do something i guess. But being lazy is so comfortable xD

In two weeks i’m going to Lisbon for 5 days :D That’s very VERY exciting. I am going with Dinora, again thank goodness! You probably noticed that i er... started travelling a lot more than i used to. Or didn’t notice, idk. It’s all started with George Ezra’s concert in October. He was touring and Russia was not in his list. So i figured i’d go to Warsaw. Then Twenty Pilots went on tour and i missed standing tickets here, so i decided to go to Portugal. And now it’s just a matter of me going on YouTube, watching someone live and then thinking “Hm... i’d love to go to their gig. I wonder if they’re on tour”. And then i spend all of my last money on tickets.

I am not complaining though! It makes me go places i’ve never thought i’d go. And it keeps me excited and helps not to fall down the “omg i’m so miserable” thought train.

WELL! Anyway, i am also going to Riga in July to see Ed Sheeran and... tickets from Riga to Berlin are not that expensive. So that would be a shame if i miss Pink’s concert and an opportunity to visit and finally meet in person my dear friend Sanne. And i wanted to go to Berlin again anyways!

I’m just trying to justify all of my sudden money waste (though i wouldn’t call it exactly a waste, cause it makes me super happy) rather than spending it on something more important. Though right now i don’t know what is important to me xD
