CHARITY SHOP EXCURSIONS – SUNDERLAND & WASHINGTON – PART 37
DIGGING IN A BOX OF CHARITY SHOP RECORDS A mixed bag of obscurities This is a Charity Shop Excursion almost a week after the event, My primary focus has been elsewhere having had a lot to do setting-up my ‘sister’ Blubrry podcast + website that will eventually become my main place of residence. Can you do the bachelor/ettes with an s/o that is an artist?
-🌙anon
Bachelor/ettes x Artist Farmer
Hi 🌙! Glad to have another emoji anon here! How are things going? Anyways, cute request! Thank you for asking! I think I might have done this before? Maybe. I don't know. Oh well! This mainly focuses on drawing sorry.
Tumblr media
Bachelors:
Sam
Sam loves your art! He always looks over your shoulder when he sees you drawing, so you'll definitely have to take it upon yourself to tell him not to do that if it makes you uncomfortable. He's also going to beg you to design an album cover for him and his band.
Elliott
Elliott would also like to use your artistic skills, this time for his newest book. He can't pay you all too much (unless his previous book becomes a bestseller), but he will shout you whatever you want at the saloon whenever you want. He really appreciates your skill, it reminds him of Leah!
Sebastian
I'm pretty sure his job involves making models, so he'd ask you for some references to copy off of. Really likes to admire your work; spends a lot of time just looking through the pages if he can. If you won't let him he'll respect your boundaries, but will still ask every once in a while.
Harvey
He's not really an artist, so he's really amazed at what you can do! He'd ask you to draw his model airplanes for him (if you want to, of course). Despite his lack of drawing/painting skills, he does appreciate good art, and will set aside some money to go to an art show.
Shane
Shane's drawing skills equate to that of a five-year-old's potato head self-portrait. I mean, art is art, so it's not necessarily bad, but he's not getting recognised for it anytime soon. So when he finds out you're and artist, he gets secretly excited and makes note to try and find out what you've made.
Alex
When he was a kid, he'd get the hose and paint a smiley face on the fence with the water, but that's about all he's done. Actually, he did try to impress a girl with his drawing skills once, but she ended up rejecting him, so he stopped. He asks you to teach him how to do some spaghetti sort of art sometime because he looks at you (no matter what art medium you do) and immediately assumes you'd be a master at pasta art. You're welcome, I guess?
Bachelorettes:
Penny
Please tell me you read the same books as her and please tell me you've made art of the characters; she will fall in love. Since she's a teacher (basically), she does have some skills in art related mediums, but nothing beyond what she needs to teach. She likes sketching characters the most, so she sheepishly shows of her work to you and asks for advice.
Leah
Artist duo, baby! Leah loves your art! She's into sculpting and a bit of painting herself, but recognises any art is art and is totally down to do some with you! You have some fun competitions on trying to draw the other worse and worse each time but still have it look like them. That, or you just set up a vase and chill trying to copy it.
Abigail
Abigail's a decent artist. Again, she only really uses pencil or pen on paper, but has dabbled in digital art through the use of an old game console she had as a kid. You two do that competition thing like Leah, except you purposely try to make each other look worse and worse without any semblance of the original subject. Fun times!
Maru
Maru is a great artist, I think. She does a lot of detailed planning for her inventions and puts a lot of effort into the artwork. You know that car show where the guy draws the finished product in coloured pencil before actually making it? Yeah, like that. Except she doesn't use colour. Anyways, she gets what art's all about and can feel with you when you get that art block.
Emily
She can draw clothes, paint abstract art, and make towers out of dry spaghetti sticks. When she finds out you're an artist, she immediately asks to see what you've done. Emily's very much a believer in 'any art is art as long as you put your soul into it', so she'll always say she loves whatever you make. Not the best for constructive criticism, but great for a pick-me-up when you're feeling low.
Haley
Unlike her sister, Haley has no idea what she's doing. I suppose photography is related to other mediums of art, but the most she's done is draw some hearts on some photos and hung them up on the wall. During her mean phase she pretends not to care, but once she comes out of her shell she really takes an interest in it! She tries to copy your art but doesn't do so well.
-~-~-
Hello. Long time no see. I make a second account since I was tired of this one being my main aha. Anyways, I'll be back (hopefully) for a little while now. Bye-bye!

Hii, I was the anon from the makeup request, the one with the bachelors
I love it! thanks for your answer, but now that I read my ask I realized I wrote it all wrong 🤡
What I wanted to ask is what you think would be their reaction if the farmer asked to put make up on them. Like, it may be something basic or some of that "turning my bf into a kpop idol" type of makeup
I hope you don't mind me asking again 😅
Ooooh, you mean that.
Of course, I don't mind writing about this scenario at all! Let's consider it a continuation of that headcanon. Thanks for the question 💕🫰
Stardew Valley:
Alex:
"Hon, why don't you ask someone else? Haley, for example?"
Alex isn't particularly happy about the very idea of make-up, thinking it's a 'girly things'.
"Honey, you sat with a face mask for two hours yesterday." "That's different!"
Still agreeing to Farmer's request.
Alex didn't like the make-up. No, Farmer did it all right, it's just the sheer feel of make-up... The athlete wants to wash it all off.
"Sorry, love, not for me."
Shane:
"Sure, why not."
Shane had already tried make-up on himself when he was in Emily's clothes therapy, so this wasn't new to him.
True, he'll grumble if the make-up takes longer than an hour.
But the results! Shane looks like a cool metal star!
The Farmer is happy with his work. Shane is happy as well.
Elliott:
Elliott sure spends a lot of time and money caring for his gorgeous hair.
Face cosmetics, on the other hand....
Sure, scrubs and face masks are in his kit too, but he's not really a fan of foundation and eyeliner.
"My soul, I just try to look naturally beautiful!" ("Nothing against the make-up itself, though.")
If Farmer wants the most minimal make-up, however, the writer will go along with it.
Sam:
"Sure, baby! Make me a rock star!"
Easier said than done, because Sam keeps fidgeting as Farmer tries to apply his rock band make-up.
"That tickles!" "Sam, don't move!"
Very pleased with his cool make-up.
Sam will take a hundred selfies of himself and Farmer and brag about how talented his partner is and how cool he is.
Will wear make-up all the time (until Jodi makes him wash it off).
Sebastian:
As I said earlier, Sebastian uses eyeliner (I'll fight with everyone for that headcanon).
So he'll always be happy to have Farmer help him.
Sebby hasn't really tried the other facial cosmetics, but he won't refuse Farmer when they ask.
Stands as steadfast as a statue.
Super ultra emo make-up done! Everyone's happy.
Harvey:
"Oh, no, darling. I shouldn't."
In fact, Harvey had once considered it to disguise skin imperfections on his face.
However, the finicky doctor would take a long time to go through the cosmetics.
"How, in the Yoba's name, do they even sell these things? They're bad for the skin. And this foundation has been the cause of allergies in many of my patients!"
To be honest, Harvey would be more against make-up than for it. His skin health is more important to him.
Stardew Valley Expanded:
Magnus Rasmodius:
Heh. Good luck to them, with his thick beard....
"Should I shave it off-" "No."
Magnus finds it unnecessary, so he politely declines the idea.
"Then how do you know the instant make-up spell?" "A talented wizard is talented at everything."
Farmer can try to do his make-up in his sleep, but if he wakes up, Farmer will levitate the rest of the night.
Victor:
On the one hand, Victor does not consider make-up as something important for him.
On the other hand, the Farmer looks at him with puppy eyes...
"Well, okay..." A rather strange feeling for him. But the result amazed him.
Victor looks quite fresh now, and yet the make-up is unnoticeable. It's like it's not even there!
"Okay, I take it back, honey. It was a good idea."
Lance:
Oh, Lance does care about his appearance, that's undeniable. But he devotes more time to his hair and scrubs than to his facial cosmetics.
The adventurer will politely decline heavy makeup. Especially - in this heat on Ginger Island.
However, if it's something as inconspicuous and light as possible, he'll let the Farmer work on his face.
"Why do you need a makeup spell then?" "A talented wizard is talented at everything, my love."
We've heard that somewhere before...

If the Stardewies/Stardudes had a social page, what would be on it?
Abigail - David pics. Look at the floof! Gemology stuff. Lengthy updates about the last Solarian Chronicles campaign. Fantasy drawings. Flute shorts. Snacks. Need more snacks.
Emily - Yoga pose of the week. Wellness tips. Parrot factoids. Clothing design scribbles. Mantras. Positive vibes. Sunshine photos.
Haley - Photography. Like my page.
Leah - Nature pics. Garden updates. Avant garde pics of her artwork (without showing the entire piece).
Maru - Social-what-now? Obligatory accounts. Never logs in. She's too busy building robots.
Penny - Crafts for kids tutorials. Reading lists. Occasional deep thoughts post. Penny's a private person so I don't think she would be online that often.
Alex - Updates about his favorite gridball team, wishlists for sports memorabilia that's out of his price range, random photos of Dusty. Yay! Haley would be proud that he managed to keep these pics in focus. Trying to figure out how to monetize his workout videos.
Elliott - dribs and drabbles of everyday musings, words of the day, half-finished lyrical compositions, the wanderers journey, lonely souls connecting through poetry and music through cyberspace, and quotes from his favorite literary giants.
Harvey - Cool facts about aviation history, Reviews of museum exhibits. Recommended biographies an occasional airship fantasy. Coffee quotes. He would moderate a chat board about technical specs, simulations, collector's items, etc.
Sam - Memes, puns, more memes. Sam is definitely an all-or-nothing guy. Binge posts and then silent for weeks. Skateboard videos. Did you see this super cool, wicked, rad trick I did? Oh and follow my band! We're the Pelicans. Tell your friends.
Sebastian - this man would blow up Reddit. Solarian Chronicles. Game walkthroughs. Random Twitch stream when he feels like it. Pictures of frogs. Programmer jokes. Shit posts about nothing important.
Shane - Charlie has his own Instagram! This man and his love for blue chickens. Nothing but chickens on his feed.

Oh other playlist ask: punk Archie playlist?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
By Some Alchemy - a band AU playlist for Archie Abernethy (click for Spotify playlist)
Steppenwolf - Born to Be Wild *** Pal Singh Pal - Maane Mera Sajan Miladay *** Lulu - Shout *** Jimi Hendrix - Fire *** Pentangle - Moon Dog *** Sandy Nelson - Let There Be Drums *** James Brown - Funky Drummer *** The Who - My Generation *** Little Richard - Tutti Frutti *** The Troggs - Wild Thing *** Munawar Sultana and Iqbal Bano - Dholak Geet *** Santana - Soul Sacrifice *** Queen - Modern Times Rock'n'Roll *** Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick *** Pappu Sain & Joora Sain - Dhol *** The Sensational Alex Harvey Band - Hammer Song *** Jimi Hendrix - Johnny B. Goode
Comments under the cut:
No lyrics with this because Archie's not really fussed about lyrics, Archie wants to know if there's scope for MAD DRUM SKILLZ and if there is then he's into it. And don't be fooled by the serious Ben Kingsley faceclaim, Archie is mostly a goof, it's just a bit of a nightmare finding good fcs for him.
The ironic thing about the Punjabi punks of Paisley, Archie and (Turkey) Mat Abernethy, is that they didn't become punks until they were in their thirties, because punk hadn't been invented before then. They ended up in the Glasgow care system very young but were lucky enough to be adopted by a couple in the wake of WW2. They were encouraged to be curious about all kinds of music, and I'm going to say maybe their adopted dad had suffered some hearing loss during the war and had other care requirements, so from a young age they were encouraged to be both noisy and caring. Mat went off to America quite young (details tbd), maybe he has an unexpected past as a jazz session musician before punk emerged in the '70s. But that's a whole other playlist.
Archie stayed back in Scotland, caring for their parents, playing the dhol (which Mat never did), and working at the zoo to pay the bills (Archie are you singing Wild Thing to the tigers?). The Punjabi folk he has access to is pretty classical stuff from the '20s and '30s that he gets from people at the Gurdwara, which opened in the 1950s, probably a bit late for Mat to be interested, Mat's a bit wilder, but it's a place Archie attends for the language lessons and musical connections in particular. It's in a tenement flat in Gorbals and he gets the train in from Paisley. But he and his big brother love their local acts, too, they're there cheering local girl Lulu along with everyone else when she performs in Glasgow after having her first big hit with Shout (1964) - Mat even makes the trip back for it. Later on, when mosh pits have been invented, you'll find that Archie and Mat can get a mosh pit going for Lulu.
Other local acts are Bert Jansch (folk hero involved in Pentangle. Archie thinks Moon Dog is kind of hilarious but he likes playing it and pretending to be a Beatnik. In reality he's not cynical enough for the Beats though), and The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Archie and Mat grew up seeing Alex Harvey perform all round Glasgow with his various jazz and skiffle outfits (yes, they saw a very early version of the Beatles supporting them) and when he goes glam in the '70s Archie's well into it. For a man who goes bald quite young (and never really gets into fully into practicing Sikhism), Archie does love him some hair metal and glam.
In all, Archie gets into punk even later than his brother, so mostly this playlist is about the drums and about Archie's influences - he's a fan of early rock'n'roll, he knows who its real founders are, and basically he's here to have fun and hit things hard so that people dance. He came of age in the era of the drum solo, and it speaks to his soul, but he knows that the main thing about the drummer is to be the person keeping things on the level, maintaining the beat when all the egos of singers and guitarists are veering all over the place around you. Archie knows that the true meaning of punk is radical kindness. And drumming really, really fast.

"Delilah" - Tom Jones
1968 Music by Les Reed, lyric by Barry [and Sylvan?] Mason
Let's Do It: my, my, my personal fifty favourite singles from 1954-76.
The murder ballad is a controversial form of music. Not everyone is in favour of songs about killers, and the Welsh Rugby Union recently decided to stop playing this classic at their matches. The WRU are hardly in a place to lecture others about morality, seeing as how they cravenly ban trans women from playing their sport in spite of scientific evidence to the contrary, but let's not get too far from the point.
"Delilah" is a murder ballad. Her lover finds that Delilah is screwing someone else, which is hardly headline news in 1968. The lover goes round to her house, waits for a rival to leave, and uses a knife to kill Delilah.
Tumblr media
Lyricist Barry Mason says the song is based on the feelings had about his first teenage crush: they had a summer fling, and then Barry found out "his" girlfriend had a lad back home. Jealous, a whole lot of pain, trauma that lasted for years.
Barry's former wife Sylvan says that's cobblers, that musician Les Reed wrote the "why, why, why, Delilah?" line, and the lyric bears a passing resemblance to the 1954 musical Carmen Jones crossed with the legend of Samson from the book of Judges. Samson - and the protagonist of "Delilah" - will kill rather than live without what he wants. We might meet Samson again when someone nominates Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" in a later timeframe.
Tom Jones always puts his heart and soul into everything he records, and "Delilah" is no exception. Loud and hoarse, we can hear the passion in his voice. A flamenco arrangement is another prominent feature of this song, a loud flare just before the chorus line, making sure we cannot miss it when we hear it. Backing vocalists include Elton John, making his only appearance in my top 50 ("Crocodile rock" finished in the next twenty.) Tom has had more comebacks than anyone, "Delilah" was later covered by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band.

Alexander James Harvey was born on February 5th 1935 in Glasgow.
Harvey was one of Scotland’s most original and influential rock musicians.
He was born in the Gorbals and worked in an eclectic range of occupations before becoming a performer. Originally a trumpeter, his first appearances were with a Dixieland jazz band, but he was also attracted to the blues-tinged country style of Hank Williams (1923-1953). By the mid-1950s Harvey was the vocalist and guitarist with a band that had jazz roots, but increasingly reflected the vogue for rock ‘n’ roll. Over the next few years Harvey became a mainstay of the Scottish music circuit and his band appeared under a variety of guises, including the Kansas City Counts, Alex Harvey and the New Saints and then, famously, Alex Harvey and his Soul Band.
The Soul Band favoured rhythm and blues and performed their own distinctive interpretations of relatively unknown American R & B hits. A feature of their act was “Shout” which had first been recorded by the Isley Brothers in 1959. A Glasgow teenager, Marie Lawrie (b. 1948) was dazzled by the frenetic Harvey version, and with her band Lulu and the Luvvers subsequently shot to stardom with the song. However, fame eluded the Soul Band, despite their reputation for outstanding live performances and a highly regarded debut album. Spells working in Hamburg and London did not help in boosting their morale and they disbanded in 1965.
Harvey embarked on various individual projects during the late 1960s, including an acoustic album with his talented younger brother, Leslie. He also spent five years on the London stage, performing in the rock musical, Hair. Then, in 1972, Harvey returned to Glasgow and joined forces with the rock band, Tear Gas.
As the Sensational Alex Harvey Band they soon attracted a huge following. Their fusion of hard rock and often surreal theatricality was evident in their 1975 top-ten hit, “Delilah”, a tongue-in-cheek version of the melodramatic Tom Jones song. However, the stress of such high energy performing took a toll on Harvey’s health. In 1976 he collapsed on stage and the following year he left the band.
On 4th February 1982 while waiting to take a ferry back to shore after performing his last concert with his new band, the Electric Cowboys, Harvey suffered a massive heart attack. In an ambulance on the way to the hospital, he suffered a second heart attack, this one fatal. It occurred on the day before his 47th birthday, in Zeebrugge, Belgium, his dual reputation as a rock 'n’ roll pioneer and flamboyant musical showman has continued to grow.
I’ve chosen Runaway, in his own inimitable style please don’t just listen, but rake in the whole experience, the wee dancey  bit in the middle is a joy to behold.

As the garbage fire year of 2020 continues, I have been struggling to find something to fill the Schitt’s-Creek-sized hole in my heart.
Which, come to think of it, replaced the Parks-and-Rec-sized hole in my heart prior to that.  I’ve always been a sucker for “soft” television, but with everything going on the world, whatever tolerance I had for heavier fare has disappeared completely.  Like, yeah, I’d love to catch I May Destroy You or I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, but I just. Can’t. Handle. Them. Right now, anyway.
I do have some old standards to fall back on-- Bob’s Burgers, The Good Place, The Great British Baking Show, and Kim’s Convenience (bless you, Canada) work just fine.  But with so much time at home, I’ve been getting antsy for new, soft, comforting content.
Then I watched Julie and the Phantoms on Netflix.
Tumblr media
And I loved it SO. MUCH.
(Warning, since this is a family-friendly show: profanity ahead.)
Which, I have to admit, I’m kind of embarrassed about.  Like, look: I fully own up to the fact that my tastes aren’t exactly refined or mature.  I’m one of those contemptible “childless millennials”, after all.  There are things on my Netflix and Spotify lists that would make film buffs and hipsters cry.
But what I will give myself a pat on the back for is that I’m extremely open-minded when it comes to any sort of art consumption.  My tastes are super-varied, and I don’t have the burden of worrying about what is “socially acceptable” for me to watch.  I can watch Barry and Fleabag just as happily as I can watch Sarah & Duck (literally, a show for preschoolers that works better than any anti-anxiety medication I’ve tried) and old episodes of Tiny Toon Adventures.
Regardless, there’s embarrassment. Which is not about the fact that it’s a cheesy, High-School-Musical-esque, pre-teen friendly series, actually (... okay, maybe a little), but because the aging freakout is real, my friends.  Hitting the “Oh-My-God, I’d-Have-To-Play-the-PARENT” period of your life is fucking rough.
Basically, in the words of Roger Murtaugh... I’m too old for this shit.
But I’m trying to tell myself that 1) Generation Z is delightful and I refuse to feel guilt for appreciating them, 2) god knows we’re all watching Stranger Things without embarrassment, and those kids are, like, twelve, and 3) now that I’m apparently ANCIENT, I’m supposed to stop caring about what other people think.
So: Julie and the Phantoms made my heart grow three sizes and I loved it a whole lot.
Quick synopsis: Julie, our hero, is a performing arts school student who is grieving the death of her mom and unable to continue making/playing music because of it.  One day, three ghosts of teenage boys who were in a mid-90’s rock band show up in her garage.  They form a new band (insert title of show here) and help Julie rediscover her love of music, while she helps them navigate the afterlife.  Bonding occurs, lessons are learned, the power of friendship is discovered, you get the idea.
And okay-- at its surface, it’s family-friendly entertainment, you know? Cute story, funny moments, the music is catchy, the whole cast is super talented (and, hey, can actually play their instruments! Whaddaya know!).
But the CHARACTERS!  THE SOFTNESS! THE REPRESENTATION!  If this is how young adults are going to written from now on, sign me the fuck up.
First of all, the two female leads of the show are women of color-- Julie (Madison Reyes) is Latinx and her best friend, Flynn (Jadah Marie), is Black.  That alone is (sadly, STILL) noteworthy, but I literally wanted to stand on my couch and yell about how wonderfully self-assured, smart, mature, strong, and competent these girls are.  Julie, in particular, is just… she’s just so cool, you guys. She never once has to rely on anyone else but herself to get shit done, and she takes responsibility for her own actions.  The girl very clearly knows her talent, capabilities, and worth, and PHEW, do we need to see more young women like her on our screens!  Like, yes, the boys support her, but they’re complete equals.  Julie doesn’t need any male saviors up in this business. She’s got this.  I LOVE HER. I SOMEHOW WANT TO BE HER WHEN I GROW UP, EVEN THOUGH SHE’S LIKE HALF MY AGE (oh GOD. I’m so OLD).
Tumblr media
In fact, throughout the series, the importance of honesty, respect, and healthy support is repeatedly emphasized.  There’s no dependency issues here, and lying of any kind is clearly forbidden.  Which I loved, because the whole “teen lying to everyone” storyline has been done to death.
Then there’s the three boys of Sunset Curve-- Luke (Charlie Gillespie), Alex (Owen Joyner), and Reggie (Jeremy Shada), i.e. the messengers of destruction for toxic masculinity.  THIS IS THE MALE FRIENDSHIP PORTRAYAL WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR, PEOPLE.  They’re so nice to each other! They’re so supportive! They’re tactile, openly emotional, and completely devoid of judgment of any interests or behaviors that don’t follow male social standards.  Bless the Age of the Soft Boys, may their reign be unbreakable and everlasting.
Tumblr media
Oh, and Alex is openly gay.  It’s not just hinted at-- he’s out and proud, with an adorable crush/pre-relationship with a skater boy named Willie (Booboo Stewart).  And, apart from a quick mention about Alex’s parents being homophobic, the show pretty much takes the Schitt’s Creek route-- all love and acceptance, with not much of a thing made of his sexuality at all (in fact, there’s enough evidence that none of the boys are completely straight, and I’m here for that, too).
And if all of that isn’t enough of a cuddle to the heart for you, THERE’S MORE:
Julie’s supportive, soft dad
Reggie’s immediate, one-sided bond with Julie’s supportive, soft dad and her brother
Julie and Luke totally have crushes on each other and it’s SO SWEET but completely age-appropriate, good job guys
I’m a sucker for good harmonies and the band HAS ‘EM IN SPADES
Flynn being HBIC the entire series
Julie’s crush Nick being very realistically awkward and dopey in the shadow of Luke’s arms (Nick, dude, lose that HAT, I beg of you)
A surprisingly moving side-plot/song about Luke’s parents
Alex just wanting to dance, and also being a high-key feminist and calling out the others when they slip up
EVERYONE’S JUST SO FUCKING NICE, OKAY
So yeah. Shut up. It’s wonderful and pure, and I WILL TAKE ANY SOFTNESS I CAN GET IN THIS HELL YEAR, WHEREVER I CAN GET IT.
In conclusion, Kenny Ortega can have my entire soul if he wants it, for not only this but also Hocus Pocus and Newsies.
Completely Unnecessary Afterword:
Being old enough to remember 1995-- and, specifically, what was popular that year-- has brought up some important questions regarding the Sunset Curve boys:
We know they died in ‘95, but like… when? Did they get to see Empire Records, for Christ’s sake?! Did they see Casper, because, I mean, they’re basically the Devon Sawas of 2020?  Were they spared their contemporaries’ fate of constantly over-quoting Billy Madison and Tommy Boy?
OH MY GOD, DID THEY HAVE AOL SCREEN NAMES, AND WHAT WERE THEY??
What are each of the guys’ favorite song off of Boyz II Men’s “II”? This is possibly the MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION.
Did they die before Jagged Little Pill came out?  That would kind of break my heart.  Not that I expect Julie to start portraying Alanis-levels of anger/angst, but ‘95 was a YEAR for women in rock.  Garbage, Hole, No Doubt, PJ Harvey, The Cranberries, Veruca Salt, Bjork, and countless others-- they all had massive hits that year.  I love the idea of Julie and the guys sitting around the garage listening to all of those women for inspiration.  Can we have a resurgence of female-led rock bands taking over the charts, please?
On a much more serious note, given where the AIDS crisis was in ‘95, it’s no wonder Alex is a nervous wreck. It’s not really something I expect the show to delve into, but man… getting transported to 2020 might’ve been a bit of a blessing (not that things are great now, but y’know, medical progress).
How in the world did none of them fall victim to the whole “white boys dressing hip-hop” trend back in ‘95? I mean… Clueless got it right. (Wait, did they make it to Clueless??)

Note
Romantically speaking, what do you think are the bachelors' and bachelorettes' age gap limits? And what are your headcanon ages for each of them? Thanks, and have a lovely day☀️
mhmmm yes
sorry for the long post I got so carried away onfggshdhhd
Alex- HC Age: 24
Age gap: Youngest 18, oldest 30.
Alex definitely likes older partners. He loves being taken care of and feels like he can handle more mature people. Although I do lowkey see him as being one of those small town ex-varsity jocks who dates seniors from his high school...but I don’t think he’s a creepy weirdo. But overall would 100% prefer someone older.
Elliot - HC Age: 30
Age gap: Youngest 20, oldest 40.
Elliot doesn’t see age. He sees souls, auras, and such. He would feel weird dating a teenager, though. I think he would like to be “babied”, regardless of the partners age. I think he just loves being taken care of, but he wants someone mature enough to have deep conversations with.
Harvey - HC Age : 35
Age gap: Youngest 22, Oldest 40
Harvey wants a family. He wants to have kids and settle down in a forever home, and he feels that he cannot do that with someone older. Harvey thinks he’s “old” himself, so he thinks it’d be hard to start a family with two “older” people. But he’d also feel weird dating someone younger than Maru, so he doesn’t.
Sam- HC Age : 22
Age gap: Youngest 18, Oldest 23
Sam doesn’t really want a serious, long term relationship. He’s a young rock star, gosh darn it. That being said, he wants someone who would fit in with his group, someone to travel and support his band, and someone who’s not already experienced a lot of life. Sam, to put it shortly, wants someone who is immature. He wants your stereotypical teen romance (and that’s okay!).
Sebastian- HC Age: 23
Age gap: Youngest 18, Oldest 30
Sebastian, like Sam, wants someone who fits in with their group of friends. He thinks someone too old wouldn’t be able to do that, but at the same time he doesn’t mind someone a little bit older. He wants someone inexperienced, because he is too. He wouldn’t want someone who is 21, though, because he’d think it’s weird to date someone the same age as his baby sister. Overall, Sam and Sebastian want the same thing.
Shane- HC Age: 33
Age gap: Youngest 20, oldest 40
I think Shane wants a family also, not as urgent as Harvey, but he definitely wants one. Shane would prefer younger partners, so he could educate them and so they can start a family easier. He doesn’t prefer older partners, mainly because they’d be closer in age to Marnie (45-50) then they would him, but if he truly liked them, it wouldn’t matter. He sees personality over looks/age.
Abigail- HC Age: 20
Age gap: Youngest 18, oldest 25
Honestly I can’t explain this one. Not to be repetitive, but I think she’d want the same things as Sam and Sebastian. Since they are all the youngest singles in town, I think they’re very similar in what they want. That being said, Abigail would prefer someone slightly older.
Emily- HC Age: 27
Age gap: Youngest 22, oldest 32
2 is Emily’s personal “angel” numbers or lucky numbers. No further explanation.
Haley- HC Age: 25
Age gap: Youngest 23, oldest 35
You CANNOT look me dead in the eyes and tell me Haley would not want to be a sugar baby (sorry omfg). But I think she wouldn’t mind someone a little younger. Haley also definitely wants a family too, so someone too old would be difficult to start a family with, but someone just old enough would be perfect for her.
Leah- HC Age: 32
Age gap: Youngest 25, oldest 30
Leah LOVES younger partners. It’s just something about their innocence and lack of knowledge of the world. Leah doesn’t really want a family, but if her partner did she’d be down. But being the older person in the relationship makes her feel good, and feel strong. She loves it.
Maru- HC Age: 21
Age gap: Youngest 20, Oldest 30
Maru sees herself as an “old soul” so she’d want someone older too. She also wants someone to have intellectual conversations with, and someone to discuss her inventions with. She wants a smart, older person.
Penny- HC Age- 29
Age gap: Youngest 24, oldest 33
I don’t think Penny really has a preference around whether someone is older or younger, more about maturity. I do think she wants a family as well, so someone close to her in age is nice. I don’t really have more of an explanation for Penny, I think she’s down for almost anything/anyone.

The bachelors and bachelorettes in a coffee shop (if Stardew had one... maybe the Starbean?)
...Sebastian sucking down mugs of coffee like an IV in the back corner with a moody expression and a laptop while he fixes the WiFi again. The password should NOT be password, you morons!
...Sam eating three muffins, bouncing around on a sugar high, wondering if it's too early for Cola, and signing the band up for open mic night.
...Harvey quietly sipping his usual, smiling at the little heart the barista drew on his to-go cup, as he enjoys his granola and nonfat yogurt while reading the paper.
...Abigail slurping a white mocha as she balances her books between her chin and arms, rushing out the door. She is so late for class again.
...Penny popping in briefly for her chai tea latte before she meets Jas and Vincent for lessons. While waiting for her beverage, she idly browses the books and games shelf, adding titles to her mental list.
...Haley wants something over-the-top. Tall, half-caf, nonfat milk, light on the whip... no make that no whip, caramel macchiato. She taps her long manicured nails on the counter impatiently as she has to repeat her order.
Shane drinks coffee black. And jokes 'like my soul,' as he shuffles out the door with yet another hangover on his way to work.
Emily is a no caffeine tea drinker. She prefers a real cup, even if she is on the go. She says hello to everyone with a bright smile, compliments the barista's hair, admires the cashier's jewelry, and straightens the artwork on display. It was just a touch crooked. She leaves an enormous tip.
Elliott doesn't venture outside until mid-morning. Does life even exist before noon? He meanders to the shop, stopping to admire a brightly colored bird or the pretty pebbles in the river. He orders a tiny cup of espresso to perk up as he takes his coffee outside to sketch and scribble.
Alex doesn't drink coffee. He drinks energy drinks. But he will swing by and pick up an order for his grandparents. He winks at the cashier and flirts with the barista a bit. Grabs a protein bar off the counter and engages with Emily about healthy diet briefly before returning home with his goodies.
Maru would be up before dawn, fiddling with her projects before work. She would pop into the coffee shop right before her shift to order a French press and chocolate croissant to munch on while reviewing patient charts.
Leah would prefer to grind her own beans. She would order a bag of hazelnut coffee once a week at the shop on a midday break. After saying hello to Elliott, maybe even teasing him a little about his aversion to mornings, she would return to work at her cabin. Not before brewing a nutty cup of coffee and enjoying a few moments on her porch.

#ThrillerLiveCloses #ApprovedByMJon2009
“Right now our world has been turned upside down, with a pandemic that is changing our way of life. It is affecting us all, financially, emotionally and socially. For me it has resulted in THRILLER LIVE closing prematurely (and permanently) in the West End, as all theatres around the country have been shut, in the public’s best interest. Myself and the rest of the team totally understand and respect that we must all practice social distancing, working together to beat this virus. But yesterday was a very sad day as I joined the cast, crew and other creatives at the Lyric Theatre for one last time. We wanted to come together to say goodbye to each other at the theatre that had become our home for the past 11-years. Ironically we were just two more performances away from becoming the 11th longest ever running show in the West End. Still to be 12th, and the longest ever running show at the Lyric Theatre is an incredible achievement. Another thing the coronavirus has shown us is that we never know what is around the corner and we shouldn’t take what we have for granted. Through hard times, we get to see what matters most and what we really need to value.
One of our cast members said that leaving the Lyric Theatre was like losing a loving partner. And that is partly true, in that sometimes you don’t appreciate what you have until it is gone. But I am sure that each and every one of the Thriller Live cast and crew will go on to great new ventures, just as previous associates have. It’s been an INCREDIBLE journey which has formed great friendships, partnerships and even relationships with babies to boot! For me it seems that things have gone full circle. For it was 30 years ago today (20th March 1990) when I first met the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and he inspired me to see a world of endless possibilities. He showed me humility, kindness and a laughter like I’d never heard before.
We were at Record One Studios where he was free and at his creative best, producing the ‘Dangerous’ album. Watching a genius at work, who since the age of 5 had been perfecting his craft to become the world’s greatest ever entertainer was a true privilege. And then came an invitation to lunch at Neverland. That was the most memorable weekend ever. I’d never seen a landscape and home so beautiful. A place where Michael could dream peacefully, and one could lose themselves in magical abandonment. Which I did playing on the arcades, riding on the funfair and watching movies in the theatre. Just before I left, as I walked out the oak door, Michael said come back anytime. And I did, at least once a year - return to Neverland, as did many lucky fans, and various charitable organisations that Michael opened his doors for, because he loved to give, help and see others happy. That was the Michael Jackson I knew - a humble, innocent soul, who also happened to be one of the greatest artists of all time. There are many, many other stories that I have shared over the years, and fans and friends will know. Each one of them still as colourful in my mind now as it was when I first lived them. I thank Michael for those memories, and even though he is gone, it has never felt like a goodbye.
From all of us at “Thriller Live”, we want to Thank everyone who came to see the Show in the West End. We are Grateful that we could keep Michael’s Legacy and Music alive through the production and cá look forward to continuing touring the world in years to come. Now here follows a long, long list of thanks to just a few of the many people who made the show possible in the West End. There has been literally hundreds of people involved on and off the stage, so apologies that I can’t list everyone, but each of you are just as important in making this show a special part of West End history ! John Maher our meticulous Musical Director extraordinaire. • Every single band member past and present including Damien Cooper, Oliver Latka, Ryan Alex Farmery, Adam Kovacs and Mike Bradley - the greatest compliment you can pay these guys, is that some audience members still ask if the show is ‘live’. Yes! Applause when screen goes back and our musicians are revealed ! • Yasmin Yazdi, Jo Dyce, Rose Wild and Aisling Duffy – our fierce Resident Directors and Assistant Choreographers whom over the years have put hundreds of cast members through their paces. • Sharon Speirs and Caroline Stroud, our two long running and outstanding Company Managers over the past 11-years. These two guys are stage legends, whose performances did Michael proud every single night. • Respect to Kevin Wilson PR for keeping our name up in lights and doing it always with the utmost enthusiasm. • Thank you to Debbie O'Brien Casting – the talent we have seen over the years has been incredible including Zoe Birkett, Hayley Evetts, Maria Lawson, Samantha Johnson Carter, Cleopatra Madonna, Britt Quentin, Alex Buchanan, Jerome Singer, Trenyce Cobbins, David Jordan, MiG Ayesa and so many more outstanding vocalists ! • We have also been blessed with hundreds of amazing dancers since 2006 and through to the end of this West End run. They, with the singers and musicians are the life blood of the show, which relies, not on massive production, but pure heart and soul to deliver the energy, authenticity and chemistry that was part of Michael Jackson. • Thank you Nica Burns at Nimax for giving us a home for 11-years, and all the staff at the Lyric Theatre for looking after us, and over 2 million audience members throughout the years. • Massive appreciation to Kerys Nathan, our original Director & Choreographer from 2006-2008. You’ll always be a part of the show. • Thank you to every single cast member from the original West End cast featuring Ben Forster, Roger Wright, Denise Pearson, Ricko Baird, Kieran Alleyne, Layton Williams (OFFICIAL), Sterling Williams, Lewis Davies, Kamilah Beckles, Christabelle Field, Elliot James, Earl Perkins, Emily Rumbles, Dannielle Rothman, Sean Williams, Ashton Russell, Ross Sands and Jordan Darrell, to our last with – Wayne Anthony-Cole, Vivienne Ekwulugo, David Julien, Miles Anthony, Florivaldo Mossi, Lauren Gore, Filippo Coffano, Leslie Garcia Brown, Deavion Brown, David Devyne, Mitchell Eley, Ike Fallon, Eliza Hart, Gabriela Hernandez, Amelia-Annie Layng, Arnold Mabhena, Rishard-Kyro Nelson, Oskarina O'Sullivan , Shola B Riley, Triple Calz, Cannon Hay, Isaiah Mason, Ishaan Raithatha and Messiah Unusudimi. • To everyone on our suspended touring production, and all those before which has seen us visit over 34 different countries, thank you, thank you and thank you again. We will see each other hopefully soon as we continue this journey. Until then stay safe, and don't eat too many pies, there is only one costume budget. •Apologies too many not named above, some whom I greatly admire and some whom I am proud to now call friends, you are all in my thoughts.
Lastly, and most importantly – thank you to MICHAEL JACKSON ! “THRILLER LIVE” is your Music, your Artistry and your Magic ! Thank you for your Inspiration , Love and Humanity . 🙏🏼
Dreams do come true — Adrian Grant .
