December 15, 2022
Official Opposition and 2022 Fall Sitting Ms Rosin: Well, ‘twas the day before Christmas, and all through the House MLAs were stirring for session was almost out. Our families had hung our Christmas stockings with care In hopes that eventually we’d get back there.
Albertans were watching from their nice, warm homesteads, Feeling hope for jobs, affordability, finally getting ahead. Conservatives gave rebates, supports, and cheap gas, Lowered tax, help for parents, and all in one act.
When out of the Chamber there arose such a clatter, I looked across the aisle to see what was the matter. The NDP cried, “Job killers, dictators, destroying ‘Berta,” Forgetting their leader – well, he lives in Ottawa. They opposed all we did without reading the bills, Showing a pettiness that should probably send their support for the hills. When what to my wondering eyes should appear, A new 338 poll; they must now think: oh, dear.
On Jagmeet, on Trudeau, on Liberal appointee. Those were their top sources, now can’t you see? To the top of the party, to the ends of the Earth, Albertans know that they’ll never ever put Alberta first. They scoffed and called our sovereignty act undemocratic, But if you didn’t read the bill, then how can you be mad at it? If the NDP had their way, it’s clear they’d do nothing. They say they have solutions, but we know they’re just bluffing.
All session long our government acted in good faith. We listened, proposed amendments, and participated in debate. Unfortunately, for them, the same can’t be said, Which leaves me here just scratching my head. Because they claim we’re the problem, that Alberta won’t fare. But deep down they know that their record is quite bare. So if you listen closely, then you’ll hear the truth. Today Alberta is better, and we have the proof.
We have grown the economy and diversified, too, Giving hope to new grads that their dreams can come true. We fought for our province and defended its right To develop its resources and package beef more polite. So in next year’s election people don’t want false fear. They want a vision to bring hope to the year. So to all who are watching this afternoon bright, Merry Christmas to all, and keep up the good fight.

what do you think the coaching problems were with pwhl new york? do you think there might be more turnover with the assistants?
Sorry for such a late response! This week had been crazy. Anyway, I think there was a mix of on ice and off ice issues with PWHL New York
The off ice ones? Well I’m not there, but Hailey salvain of the athletic reported this
Tumblr media
I can only say so much there, and of course this stuff is always more prominent / notable on a losing team because people are frustrated, but depending on how serious and widespread this is it could effect if they just want to start completely fresh or if they want to keep the assistants. The reason I could see the assistants staying is because the special teams, which is typically a job allocated to the assistants, was one of the few bright spots for this season
Speaking purely on ice, it did feel like Draper was just a bit over his head, which I think can happen when someone’s been in the same coaching role for decades then all of a sudden switch. He did a genuinely great job in university of Alberta and coached one of my fave players, autumn macdougall, I got no beef with him as a guy but it’s a lot of change with very little blue print
I think the area it showed most for Draper was defensively, where there was just….no defensive structure at all, especially among forwards, and these were players we know have defensive capabilities. It would make sense that this is the area that would suffer the most for a coach who’s played a really really long time in usports where offense has typically been a little more muted and goaltending strong. It’s a cliche but it’s very much a symptom of players playing as individuals and not a system leading to them being hemmed into their own zone and blowing coverage - which every team experienced for a while because they’re brand new but New York got worse and worse with as the season went on. I know this is mostly just my general thought, I hope to get more into the statistical side when I have some time off from work and school and other life stuff
Overall I’d like to see Colton Orr back because he was successful on the whale and I think he’s a good coach that has taken teams that are in hard circumstances - not having a permanent home, being in the New York market which despite being the biggest is definitely the toughest for hockey due to overall lack of hockey culture (I grew up in Brooklyn and am speaking from experience New Yorkers do not get mad at me), the ability to play a high paced, fast, offense heavy system while also getting the best out of shutdown defenders. That said I get if they want a clean slate. I know some people really want a woman as coach which I get but I don’t care as long as they’re dedicated to the sport and have experience.
My last hot take is I also expect some very significant roster changes for New York this offseason, maybe a blockbuster trade, I think anyone but like Shelton and Schroeder is on the table (not because the rest are bad, but I think there’s a lot of shake up willing to be made for the sake of identity)

Literally still thinking about that “white people have no culture post.” Like yes, white people as a whole do not have a collective culture. (Just like you can’t say that Kenyan culture= all of African culture or all black culture) I’m not even saying this trying to prove anything iy just got me thinking about my culture and what it is. And I love my Alberta culture (which is majority white population). It’s kind of a mash of various subcultures such as cowboy, farming, church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, general Christianity, politically conservative, overall Canadian, some American aspects.
Off the top of my head here are some of our cultural practices
Blessings on the food at community events
Parades
Rodeos
Farming/hunting season (you don’t have to be farmer or a hunter to get the rewards if you have friends ;)
Funeral potatoes
Church every Sunday
Alberta beef
Community (religious and just in general)
Hockey (don’t have to play or even watch that much, but everyone has a team)
High school basketball (it’s like the hunger games lol)
Bridge jumping
Pick up trucks
And this is localized to my area of Alberta. And I know not everyone participates fully in all these things and there are still subcultures, and not all aspects of my culture are good, or maybe you just disagree with aspects of it. But that’s ok. It’s my culture and I love it, flaws and all.

Adventures in Librarian-ing
This past Thursday was Iqaluit Day for the Grade 2s. They're learning about Nunavut and Inuit culture, so they "travel" to Iqaluit for the day to do crafts and activities related to Inuit culture. They make little passports and get checked at the "airport" and everything.
Activities include making snow sunglasses, carving "soapstone" (soft plaster disks), playing Inuit games, etc.
During lunch supervision, I was helping a Grade 2 teacher prep for the second part of the day while the kids ate (they returned to Alberta via the magic of teleportation for lunch) and the kids were telling her that "It wasn't really caribou jerky, it was beef jerky! We saw the package!"

CBS Ghosts - Viking Funeral - Watching Paint Dry
Warning spoilers may appear.
Tumblr media
Alright, I'm just going to put out there that the house (outside) is still covered in grass and whatnot now, because it's going to come up in the next post about the fight.
Tumblr media
LMAO - Did Thor really need to walk into the room to point out that "the livings" were fighting when they are literally yelling and everyone's aware?
I get the setup but it's so weird when we could "hear" them from outside the house. Also, are they really THIS bored to watch Paint dry?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OKAY OKay, I said I would bring it up next post - but I can do it here too:
ROOF or FOUNTAIN - WHY? How is the even a debate? The roof is the obvious answer and I know Sam's going with "the fountain is pretty" but you have to make the HOUSE look better before you're worried about some stupid fountain????
LoL though at Alberta's response though - nothing better than a couple fight and what's the beef?
Tumblr media
It's interesting that Alberta and Isaac are hanging out together, I wonder if it's just because they have a storyline this episode, but also I would like to see more of "Pony and Bangs" as I did love them together in the Crash episode.
"A classic of the genre" - I wonder if the ghosts have debates about the fights they've witnessed? I wonder if they have a list of best fights to witness. Either way - love the grins here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LMAO this exchange - did you really have to ask Isaac? It's kind of obvious.
It's hilarious though that Alberta's like "We're watching paint dry and you think that's more interesting than a fight?" - THIS is so funny.
What makes it more funny is the next interaction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pete is apparently thinking that 'watching paint dry' could be even remotely more interesting.... 'fight is probably more interesting' - "PROBABLY"???
The look on Alberta's face in the left gif is interesting.
LOL Alberta and Isaac already running off.
thanks for reading :)
Feel free to chat.
