AFTER THE THUNDER COMES THE-
Some process pics! Thought I had taken way more, but no!!
This is the base colors for the arena all laid out, with the lines turned off (for the lines i very much did find a good, clear photo of Amalie Arena, stretched the angles to where i wanted them, and traced that shit)
Shadows and color sections (I'm realizing the jump from the first pic to this one is very "draw the owl.") Nothing except the ground is textured yet, but every area is fully distinct now.
Finished background!! Details and textures have been added, logos are on, I'm so fucking proud of it!
After this and after the figure was colorblocked in, I went back and made a ton of color adjustments to the bg to make to all cohere. Tbh, I didn't really enjoy that part and it took a lot of trial and error. I think the next time I do a large architecture piece I'll try to have the colors more in line with the color scheme from the start, rather than basing the initial colors off of my reference pic. Hope you enjoy!

hello! some of you may remember that last year i ran a little league for the nhl.com's bracket challenge and it was a ton of fun so i'm doing it again! you can't make a bracket yet but you CAN join a league so here we are, round 2!

the amaaaazing concept sketch done in like 2 mins
initial color blocking! i had no idea how i was gonna do the tentacles here and took a break
each individual element (ice, shark, kraken) are fully rendered, but I still had to make the water feel like, y'know, water. things really started clicking when i made part of the shark not covered by water and added the ripples, because it really helped sell the illusion that there was depth to the piece and it wasn't all on one layer.

What is the other hockey podcast you regularly listen to/ what are your recs?

so, Steve Dangle Podcast was the one I tag-whispered about for those who did not see, but the other hockey pod I listen to is You Can't Do That.
I'm currently listening to their backlog and I've just hit the 2020 bubble playoffs. I think they're decently well known on here, but it's a pod hosted by three queer women who adore the Washington Capitols and imbue the highs and lows of hockey with horniness and humor. I aspire to be them.
I am constantly on the hunt for other buckwild hockey podcasts with really great charisma between the hosts, but those are the only two I've found that really stick. I occasionally listen to 32 Thoughts, Sound of Hockey, the PDOcast, and The Kraken Pod, but don't keep up with them regularly. Too much factual information, not enough going absolutely apeshit.
(other non-hockey recs bc i listen to currently are Behind the Bastards, The Silt Verses, Dungeons and Daddies)
