emma woodhouse is the funniest austen girl. she has one-sided drama with the most reserved girl who has done nothing but literally just mind her business. she gets angry about not being invited to a social event even though she would have said no just because she would have liked to be asked. she's said she's aiming to read more for years but has never actually read more. she refers to her best friend as being naive and not very smart and kind of manipulates her while simultaneously both complicating her life greatly from the moment they meet to being her ride or die. she is literally The Problem. she denies that she is The Problem. she makes me want to pull my hair out. I love her more than anything.

Article of Faith #8
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
(See my explanations and sources below the break)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believes in an open canon, and does not adhere to the principle of sola scriptura (1). We believe that God has spoken, and continues to speak, to all nations. As a result, we have both the Bible and additional scripture: The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. We speak of them together as the Standard Works.
The Holy Bible
We revere and respect the Bible as the word of God, containing valuable truths and doctrine and the account of the life and earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. God guided and inspired the writers, translators, and compilers of this sacred book (2).
Our church principally uses the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. We have Church-published editions in English (KJV), Spanish (Reina-Valera), and Portuguese (Almeida), that include pictures, maps, a topical guide and Bible dictionary, and footnotes cross-referencing scriptures across the standard works. The Church also has preferred editions of the Bible in other languages, but does not publish them (3).
We do believe that “many important points touching the salvation of men [have] been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled” (4), either through ignorance, accident, or corruption. The Prophet Joseph Smith worked on an inspired translation of portions of the KJV Bible between 1830-1844. It is known as the Joseph Smith Translation (JST), and focuses mainly on restoring portions of the Bible through revelation that were lost or corrupted in antiquity.
Many excerpts from the JST are included in the appendix and footnotes of the Church-published edition of the Bible for insight and study, but the JST is not the official Bible of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5).
The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ
The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture that tells of God’s dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, and records the personal ministry of Jesus Christ when He came to them after His resurrection (6). When Jesus Christ spoke of His “other sheep” to His disciples in the Old World, they didn’t realize He was speaking in part of these ancient Americans. This is their story.
The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ, and as a companion volume to the Bible, provides an additional witness of His divinity. It is not intended to replace the Bible, but to build it up (7). It is a book of scripture intended for our day, and contains many plain and precious truths that clarify and enhance our understanding of God’s plan for His children.
Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon consists of many shorter books written by different prophets over the span of many centuries. These prophecies were compiled into a set of engraved gold plates by an ancient prophet named Mormon, and hidden up for safety by his son Moroni before their people went extinct (8).
In 1823, Moroni, now a resurrected being, revealed the plates to a young man named Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith subsequently translated them through the gift and power of God, and they were published as The Book of Mormon in 1830 (9).
If you’ve never read the Book of Mormon, you can read it online here, or download the app here (Google Play Store) or here (Apple App Store).

Funniest thing about the Old Testament is how it consistently disparages bronze-age hero type characters crafted by its historical peers and lifts up that saddest patheticest wet little meow meows youve ever seen

What are your thoughts on Eve? I have mostly positive thoughts/feelings towards her, so I want to know if you have any insights.
Quite honestly, most of the time when I think about Eve it's in the context of historicity of Genesis-type stuff, which I'm guessing isn't what you're after.
She reads as very archetypal, you know? And in some ways she is. She's a type of the church, certainly; the first Church failed by the first Adam. She's a type of Woman in many ways, cursed to bear the effects of sin and suffering within her own body.
I do absolutely love the song "Like the Dawn" by The Oh Hellos (my favorite song by them) and, less theologically, the poem "Eve and Adam" by Bertha James:
I think that Eve loved Adam, first of all, Not in the garden where all things were fair, Not in the sad time when he failed her there, But when they were at last outside the wall And it was night. They heard the night-birds call, And as the sword curved flaming through the air They saw long shadows crouch and leap; their hair Was brushed by unseen wings; they heard rocks fall. Then defiant Eve was caught by fear; Perhaps she turned and reached for Adam's hand And leaned against his shoulder to be near, Not caring that he could not understand, Feeling him marvelously strong and good.
