I’ve seen some art with the line “the future is plural!”
I hope it isn’t.
More systems means more abused kids.

Haymitch as a character drives me a little bit insane bc like I always see people say haymitch survived his games bc he outsmarted them or cheated the system which is true, but that's only how he survived the final fight. The rest of it he survived because he never trusted anything or anyone except THE TIME HE DID TRUST SOMEONE she dies. Because of him. because he figured out something he wasn't supposed to know. And then everyone he loved was killed because he had survided. And then he has to escort 48 kids to their death and he knows all their names, and then finally finally they break the system. And then like, they win right? but all his friends are still dead and he's still drinking and like, I don't know! I don't know how you keep living in a world post everything, in a world that is now asking you to trust that things will get better and are better and safe now like how do you get yourself to trust when the only reason you even lived in the first place is because you never let your guard down.

have a blasphemous new year everybody :)
Ingo very vaguely recalls typical Unovan New Year’s social drinking traditions. Doesn’t realize Hisuian alcohol is stronger than what he may have expected in the future. Fails to apply religious filters.

The Terror is wild this guy goes to the ship doctor and is like "hey man I'm suffering from paranoid thoughts and depression I need your help" and the fucking doctor tells him "I prescribe you 'party time' go have fun" and then the doctor experiences depression and hopelessness for 5 whole minutes and immediately self-immolates killing several other men with him

Okay but given that you can make alcohol from just about any plant, a world built around Minecraft could have SUCH a liquor cabinet.
You’ve got your basics, the potato and wheat vodka, gin, whiskey, then rum from sugarcane or beet sugar if you’re feeling a little adventurous.
Then you’ve got the fancier things. Dandelion and melon wine, spike vodka, pumpkin liqueur, applejack. Zhuyeqing jiu and chocolate liquor if you REALLY want to go for the cool stuff.
You’ve got mead and all kinds of moonshine, everything from carrots to kelp to sawdust brandy if you live out in the Badlands. Sunflower and rose spirits, lilac wine, even milk liquor and advocaat if you want to deviate from plants a bit.
But then you’ve got the plants that don’t exist in our sphere.
Chorus liqueur, dripleaf absinthe, glowberry champagne and sweet berry wine, glow lichen beer and crème de spore blossom, golden apple cider, glistering cordial. For the truly danger-seeking, wither rose lanique.

has anyone else had to deal with the absolutely bonkers assumption that asexuality is antithetical to enjoying alcohol?? like. how are these two things connected. is it just infantilization, like i'm not supposed to like "adult" things? is it the belief that aces don't know how to "let go" or "have fun"? hi, i'm ace and i drink probably a bit too much! this is something people (allos) are often surprised by! my relationship with alcohol is not like, something i'm proud of, it's a potential issue in terms of my mental health, but it's still an authentic part of me. i don't tone it down, just like i don't tone down my asexuality, and i'm not planning to.
and now a survey bc i'm genuinely curious. (ace here includes every kind of acespec!)
rb for sample size
edit: the reasons for your not drinking (age, health issues) are not relevant here. if you don't drink, say you don't drink. if you haven't tried, say you haven't tried. whether you're underage or not is none of my business.
also if you quit drinking because it was a problem for you - you are very cool and strong! but also the "have struggled" option applies to you
