In response to one of those typical "I love men!" comments under posts or videos about women.

'These comments are so unnecessary. Do you ever see ones as such in videos about men, where someone comments loving words about women? If men ever "praise" women, most of the time they do it just in a sexual and/or dehumanizing way. As far as comment sections go. Why write this, seriously? Male validation isn't that crucial (you got it only three responses in)*. Appreciate yourself more.

Edit: I am sorry if my words are too harsh, I simply don't know how to tell you this in a nicer way. My point is, why be so nice and appreciative of someone who, for example, is crying about how current society "devalues, silences, puts down, and emasculates men"?* He is blatantly lying to you. Even today, October 9th, 2023, men continue to account for:

- Vast, vast majority of the world's wealth owners

- 99% of rapes (Most notably for their cruelty are wartime rapes. The soldiers during war are often drafted, rather than voluntary, which means that they are your average man. Look up: Nanjing Massacre, Rwandan Genocide, the current Palestinian-Israeli situation, and occupied Germany after WWII)

- 98% of homicides

- 99% of pedophile cases

- 86% of bestiality offences

- 88% of thefts

- 83% of arson cases

- 88% of pimping

- 92% of sex trafficking

- also, around 98% of men have watched pornography. This is important given that over 80% of porn features physical violence against women.

Does that look like emasculation? Or devaluing? Or silencing? I'll tell you what looks like oppression and devaluing and dehumanization and silencing:**

- By the time they reach their mid-20s, 1 in 4 women will experience violence by an intimate partner

- 1 in 3 women worldwide have been or will be subjected to sexual violence throughout their lifetimes.

- Most cases of eating disorders are female

- The infamous wage gap

- Most of the world's poor are female

- Women are more likely to suffer from food insecurity

- The rights of women are not universally recognized (whereas men's, as a class, are). Stonings, honor killings, FGM, period poverty, sex traffic, femi(ni)cide, acid attacks, child brides, rape, molesting, Sharia law, lack of access to education, cyber harassment, revenge porn, lack of a legal identity or name recognition, forced marriages, forced pregnancies, workplace discrimination, period huts, marital rape lesbophobia, deep fake porn... All of these issues happen to millions of women annually, daily, monthly, and weekly. Most of these happen frequently in the Western world too - it is not just a matter of "culture".

And before someone comes at me telling me what a "misandrist" I am - I am not. My comment merely argues, based on empirical evidence, that OP should do some self-questioning, in my humble opinion. If you want me to share the sources, I will, but nevertheless the information is very easy to access. Again, sorry for my initial anger; the guy playing the victims got on my nerves. I hope you have a lovely day.'

Walter woke to an empty bed, her side cold, and he got up, pulling on his boxer briefs, and walking out into the kitchen, seeing her standing at the island wearing his sweater that hit her about mid-thigh. Her hair was wet as he wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, pressing a kiss to her ear.

“Good morning.” He hummed and she echoed it, her hands sliding over his arms. “You took a shower?”

“You were out and I didn’t want to wake you.” She said and his arms tightened around her waist, holding her back against his chest. “So last night was…oof.”

“Yeah?” He asked, a smile pulling at his lips and she nodded with a sound.

“Toe-curlingly good. You’ve got some game, Detective Marshall.” Faith said and he smiled, burying his face in her shoulder.

"I'm guessing it's been a while for you." He said and she shrugged.

"Woodstock." She said and he snorted in amusement.

"Mud man?" He asked and she pinched his arm. "Ow!" Faith turned in his arms, sliding her hands over his chest as she looked up at him, her fingers weaving into the curls at the back of his head. “Faith, can I…ask about the scar?”

“If you really want to know, absolutely.” She said and he nodded. “It was back in the 1940s, and I was with a man named Caleb. I cared about him a lot.”

“Did you love him?” Walter asked and there was a pause before she nodded.

“The first man I loved since Sean.” She said, “He didn’t know what I was, but it started getting…difficult to hide it from him. He kept talking about marriage and kids, and I…eventually he was going to stop accepting my excuses why I couldn’t.”

“You told him.” He said and she nodded again, her eyes closing.

“I showed him my fangs, I explained what had happened to Sean and I and he…he didn’t take it well. Caleb was a devout Irish Catholic, went to Church every day, took Communion, whole nine yards.”

“What did he do?”

“After I told him and after I showed him, he left. He didn’t say anything, he just left with this blank look on his face.” Faith said, “I figured that was the end of it, I was never going to see him again, and I resigned myself to dealing with that.”

“But that’s not what happened.”

“No, it’s not what happened.” She said, “About a week later he came back and he attacked me. I don’t know where he had gotten a silver knife, but he had it. I wasn’t expecting it and he stabbed me in the chest, aiming for my heart. He missed. Silver, it…it’s like acid, it burns and it disfigures and it eats away at the skin and muscle. If he had hit my heart, I would have been dead in seconds and there wouldn’t have been anything I could have done about it.”

“What did you do?”

“When I didn’t immediately go down, he tried to stab me again, but I…I caught the knife.” She took one of her hands from his hair, showing him the thick scar running the width of her palm. “I got it away from him and I…I killed him. I drained him. I needed to. I was bleeding heavily from a silver wound and it was burning through my chest. I did what I had to do. I loved him, but he tried to kill me, so I killed him.” With a sigh, he took her hand in his, bringing it to his lips and kissing the scar on her palm before holding it to his chest over his heart. “My life is…violent, Walter. I try to make it as normal as possible, try to be as normal as possible, but there will be times when I may have to take a life in order to save my own. You need to decide if you really want to be in that life.”

“Faith, putting aside how you killed him, you were acting in self-defense.” Walter said, “He tried to kill you and you protected yourself. It was you or him. Your life or his. He wasn’t going to stop until one of you was dead. It’s no different than an attack victim getting the weapon away from their attacker and using it on them to save their own life. It was self-defense.” Reaching up, he held her face in his hands, stooping to look into her eyes. “So stop trying to get me to run, stop trying to push me away. I’ve made peace with who and what you are and I’m not going anywhere. I’m not going to hurt you like he did. Physically he may have missed, but he still stabbed you in the heart.” She stared at him for a moment before reaching up and pulling him down into a kiss, his eyes closing as he responded to her, parting her lips and deepening the kiss as he pressed her back against the kitchen island.

That night Faith stood behind the bar, wiping down glasses that had just come out of the dishwasher. It was slow as it was the day after Christmas but would slowly pick up the closer they got to New Year’s Eve, with the night itself being one of the busier nights. Walter was sitting at his booth, sipping at his usual can of Liquid Death, but she caught him looking at her from time to time, and it never failed to make her smile.

“You two had sex, didn’t you?” One of her waitresses asked and she nearly broke the glass she was holding.

“How--”

“Girl, you’re glowing.” She said, “And don’t think I haven’t seen the goofy looks you two have been giving each other since he got here. So spill. How was it?” Faith could only manage unintelligible sounds and the waitress smiled.

“Yeah?”

“Yes.”

“Man looks like he’d be a beast with his clothes off. Those sweaters and thermals he wears do nothing to hide how built he is and those tight jeans? Goddamn.” She said, “Now I’m jealous.”

“Be jealous while getting your tables refills, their drinks are looking a little low.” Faith said and she snorted, pushing away from the bar and heading over to her section.

It's astonishing and appalling to watch the freest, most empowered, and often self-described progressive, people in the world making excuses for a conservative, fundamentalist religious regime in the name of "sensitivity". They're siding with the fundamentalists. They're choosing religious fundamentalism over the women and men, both ex-Muslim and devout Muslim alike, who just want the same things that they take for granted.

They're, ironically, far less tolerant and far more hyperbolic about the conservative party in their own country. A party which is bounded by the limits of their country's constitution, and in some countries at the present moment, is not even in power. And even if you get them to actually admit and agree that Iranians suffer under a repressive, authoritarian regime, they'll find it necessary to insist that they do too, that they're in the same boat. Except that they don't. And they're not.

Oppression isn't about things being perfect, it's about the capacity for change. When fanatics concoct the notion of "defund the police," ("Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police - Because reform won't happen") and government representatives dutifully do so, to predictable results, despite the objections of those who will be most affected ("Defunding the Police Doesn't Poll Well. That Doesn't Matter.") you're not oppressed. Indeed, if you can shove through radical demands despite the objections of the overwhelming minority, and shout down all opposition, then you might well be the regime.

To therefore consider yourself as subjugated and oppressed as a regime that executes gay people, tortures and executes protestors, sentences adulterers to death, and actively starts a campaign to "make the surroundings unsafe" for "bad hijab", unsurprisingly culminating in the murder of Mahsa Amini, is perverted to say the least.

They act like people in Iran, Afghanistan and other countries are an alien species, separate from themselves. That this is just the way they like to live, and that people subjected to it just don't have the same ambitions, dreams or desires as they do.

It's hard to tell exactly why. Some part of it seems to be old-school racism; that people under Islamic regimes are brown people who aren't like us, and we can't think of them as being like us, can't judge their societies or rules because that would be western imperialism, and anyway they like it that way, they like their country functioning like that.

Some other part of it seems to be that if they acknowledge it, they have to admit that they don't really have it that bad. How can they pretend that they're the victims of skyscrapers, men sitting comfortably, and air conditioning after they've acknowledged ritual FGM, child marriage, acid attacks, or that hijab is not in fact empowering? How can they demand to get their way after they've admitted they're free, fortunate and privileged? (As mentioned, the expectation of accommodation itself refutes the idea of being "oppressed.") That is, it's a form of political, victimhood self-preservation. People might not pay as much attention, might not afford them as much political clout -- and honestly, much of the time, they probably shouldn't.

They think they're being culturally sensitive or inclusive or tolerant, or something. But as you mentioned, they're giving cover, making excuses for, and shielding from criticism, reactionary, conservative, fundamentalist religious zealots. Zealots who oppose and reject the sensitivity, inclusiveness and tolerance the apologists espouse, but won't say no to useful idiots acting as the western equivalent of morality police, enforcing blasphemy laws by scolding everyone as "Islamophobe" to silence them.

Suffice to say, none of that will work on me.

I hope that this will be a turning point for Iran, that inroads will be made as far as getting things to change. But even if not, that it's a wake up and reminder that this is not a deeply devout and conservative country, but an authoritarian regime imposing conservative fundamentalist dogma onto the entire population, regardless of their beliefs. And that we should be supporting the people, not defending the regime.

I was born in a country where religion is both a business and a front for outright war

I was born in a country where children are drafted into boxes, chosen by their parents, from before their birth

I was born in a country which decriminalized same-sex relationships only a few years ago, and still has nor legalized same-sex marriage

I was born in India. A country where corruption and politics have permeated everything, from religion to marriage.

A country where the rich and powerful have supreme control

A country where religion is used as a bludgeoning hammer, where people are beaten and bloodied, for their caste, their gender , their religion

A country where acid attacks on women are supremely common-place

A country where, if you do not fit the norm, you may as well die

A country where abuse is seen as the norm, and marriage as a business deal

I warn you Americans. Fight for black rights, even if you are not black. Fight for women's rights, even if you are a man. Fight for gay rights, even if you are straight. Why? Because if you don't, they'll come for you too.

I'm just 15, but I've seen a country go from the "land where even the soil vomits gold" to the blackhole of Asia.

Do not, by any means, "stand back and stand by". For the land of the great will become the land of hate. For the home of the free, there will be a prison for the imprisoned.

The United States has one more thing in common with Sri Lanka, with India: less protections on abortion rights and an increase in gender discrimination.

Tyranny has similar patterns. Those patterns are repeating in the United States. We as a people must stop this pattern. Before it is too late.

Hello and thank you ahead but can you do a quirk marriage between the quirks Slide and Glide and Acid? I just feel like it could work well. Aswell Electrification and Flight could be an option too.

I already did the second one, so I will be focusing on the first.

New Quirk Name: Repel Gel or Regelent

This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to make a clear, sticky goo from anywhere on their body. The user has a fine amount of control over the goo, capable of firing it out in various ways over short ranges. This goo has repellent properties, causing targets to be pushed away when the goo touches them or they touch the goo. If used in small amounts, it applies a floating effect on targets, making them float a few inches off of a surface. The more of the goo that is present, the thicker it becomes and the more noticeable the effect becomes, potentially causing objects or people to fly away when they come in contact with it. This gives the user a varied ability, able to alter their surroundings with just the right coating. They can push themselves around to get by faster, move allies or enemies around the battlefield, throw it at people to launch them away, suddenly make it to help push away an attack, or just make moving furniture a cinch. Though the user only has a limited supply of the goo and may run out if they are not careful and don't give it time to restock itself. The user must be careful with how they throw and apply the goo, potentially misfiring and causing serious harm if they are not careful.

It can be tempting to write off feminism for empowering sexual competitors.

Anti-feminists are like: Women have the right to vote Women can hold office Women can have access to higher education Women can have jobs (even while married) Women can have their own bank accounts Women can have credit cards Women have the right to own property Women can enter contracts Women can write wills Women can sue Women have the right to drive Women have the right to be in public by themselves Women have the right to abortion Women have the right to contraceptives Rape is wrong (even while married) Sexual assault is wrong Sexual harassment is wrong Intimate partner violence is wrong Female genital mutilation is wrong Hijab is wrong Acid attacks are wrong Honor killings are wrong

Taxpayers deserve voting rights because that is taxation with representation. In times before, most worked in family businesses or as servants, and therefore had income. It would be absurd to deny office to voters because it would be tyranny otherwise to have an elite ruling class. Divorce…children deserve to have a stable home environment, so separation from spouses can be necessary. It is difficult to prove wrongdoing within a marriage so no-fault divorce is preferred. Turning down sex: it feels better to have an enthusiastic partner, which is what they want, right? Making abortion a crime would allow the government to control reproduction…tracking movements…tracking personal health data…how far is one willing to go to get what one want? An education is necessary for anyone, as everyone has to read, write, and measure.

As for working outside the home…I am really struggling with this one because those jobs COULD go to married men. I nominally support capitalism because socialists seem to lack initiative, and some have proudly declared themselves “anti-PC” so the human rights part is dicey. In which case, labor power is already diluted by the capitalists owning the means of production so a dual-income may be required to stay afloat (it is possible to survive on a single income in the middle range, though more so in a low-cost-of-living area). Big business exists because of a large population, so either coerce/force people to reproduce or be glad that a shrinking population starves the capitalists. As for servitude…there’s a reason why labor rights were conceptualized.

If women are allowed to hold office by virtue of having the vote, then that means women must be permitted to work outside the home. Women should be able to hold office because they can succeed in school and if they can avoid killing their kids because of their menstrual cycle, then they can probably handle politics.

In the West, I have heard AT MOST pressure to leave the workforce/reconsider college rather an outright ban, as well as the jokes about taking away the right to vote

Oh, and I'm still unclear on if my rib breaking was a rage attack from her or just the trade in killing her spider then, just to give her extra grace of pretending she can do anything here. Even when I post over and over about me putting red warning signs inside her head she keeps walking past, the dense cunt draws it and monetizes it without reading it. "By request" YEAH, GUESS WHAT BITCHES, THAT'S HOW THIS WORKS IF YOU AREN'T A FAKE PIECE OF SHIT, EVERYONE AROUND YOU IS IN THE BLAST ZONE NOW. ARE WOMEN WEAK, OR IS OUR MINDSET

After finishing my 12th, I decided to visit Delhi because I wanted to see what it looked like. To be honest, I didn't like it as much as Bihar. I took a train back home at night, went to sleep, and woke up early in the morning to wash my face. When I returned to my place, I saw a girl I didn't know sitting down, and I didn't ask for her name. However, I remember her face and her parents' behavior towards her. They had two daughters and one son, but treated their elder daughter poorly while treating their son in a very loving way. This was unacceptable and inappropriate in public as it perpetuates the mindset that girls are inferior to boys. I could tell from the look in her eyes that she was feeling something.

"Are women weak, or do we just think they're weak? Does it matter what they wear, eat, or watch? Does it matter where they want to go or what kind of friends they have? Does it matter if they want to wear a short dress or have a boyfriend? Does it matter if they want to marry of their own choice or not? For me, I don't think anything matters. We are all human and have the right to live a better life with our choices. However, it does matter when it comes to issues such as honor killing, sexual harassment, child marriage, gender discrimination, acid attacks, foeticide, domestic violence, denying education to girls, preventing widows from remarrying, and treating men better than women. These issues matter and need to be addressed. Don't let others control your life. Fight your problems like a warrior and don't compromise your life. We all have only one life, so don't compromise. Do whatever you want and don't care about others because this is your life. Decide how you want to live."

About:

24th January is celebrated as National Girl Child Day.

In 2008, it was initiated by the Ministry of Women and Child Development to spread public awareness about inequities that girls face in Indian society.

The Government of India has not officially announced any theme for National Girl Child Day 2023. However, unofficial sources stated that this year's celebration will be around the slogan, "Digital Generation, Our Generation, Our Time is Now—Our Rights, Our Future."

Objective:

It is commemorated to promote public awareness of the inequality, prejudice, and exploitation that girls suffer in society.

Its goal is to raise awareness about a girl's rights and provide her with equal possibilities as everyone else, as well as to support the nation's female children and eliminate gender biases.

Violence against women and girls:

The UN General Assembly defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.”

In general terms, it displays itself in physical, sexual and psychological forms, encompassing:

Partner violence (battering, psychological abuse, marital rape, femicide).

Sexual violence and harassment (rape, forced sexual acts, unwanted sexual advances, child sexual abuse, forced marriage, street harassment, stalking, cyber-harassment).

Human trafficking (slavery, sexual exploitation).

Female genital mutilation.

Child marriage.

Challenges in addressing women's Safety:

Lack of Reporting.

Slow Criminal Justice System.

Inadequate Implementation of the law.

Poor Gender Sensitization of law enforcement agencies like Police, Judiciary etc.

Various Social factors like level of education/illiteracy, Poverty, Social Customs and values, religious beliefs, and mindset of the Society.

Exclusion by Technology.

The lack of infrastructure Such as Safe Spaces for women, Safe transport Systems, and Proper toilets makes it a dangerous place for women and girls.

Hostile Environment of investigation for victims of sexual violence.

Social Conceptions of Shame and victim-blaming.

Much Sexual violence happens within a marriage, and marital rape is not a Crime.

Steps taken by the Government:

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, to address the declining Child Sex Ratio.

Scheme for Adolescent Girls aims at girls in the age group 11-18, to empower and improve their social status through nutrition, life skills, home skills and vocational training.

Pradhan Mantri Mahila Shakti Kendra scheme, to promote community participation through the involvement of Student Volunteers for the empowerment of rural women.

Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) to provide micro-credit to poor women for various livelihood support and income-generating activities at concessional terms.

Swadhar Greh provides relief and rehabilitation to destitute women and women in distress.

Ujjawala is a Comprehensive Scheme for the prevention of trafficking and rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration and repatriation of victims of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.

Working Women Hostels for ensuring safe accommodation for women working away from their place of residence.

One-Stop Center and Women Helpline are being implemented to facilitate access to an integrated range of services including medical aid, police assistance, legal aid/ case management, psychosocial counselling and temporary support services to women affected by violence.

Panic Button on Mobile Phones, Emergency Response Support System Set up under Nirbhaya Fund.

Inclusion of Acid Attack as a disability.

The dowry Prohibition Act, of 1961, Penalizes Giving & taking.

SABLA Scheme, Providing life Skills and Supplementary nutrition to School girls - Working Women Hostel.

Sexual Harassment electronic-Box (SHe-Box).

The national database on Sexual offenders includes names, addresses, photographs and fingerprint details of those Convicted in Sexual assault Cases.

The Hindu Succession Amendment Act 2005. According to the law, sons, daughters and their mothers can get an equal share of family property.

The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 extends the understanding of the term ‘domestic’ to include all women who ‘live or have lived together in a shared household’ with the male member who is perpetrating the violence.

Domestic violence refers to the injury or harm or threat of injury or harm caused by an adult male, usually the husband, against his wife. Injury may be caused by physically beating up the woman or by emotionally abusing her. Abuse of the woman can also include verbal, sexual and economic abuse.

Steps needed to ensure women's Safety:

Strengthening Criminal Justice machinery

Strict implementation and monitoring of the laws and Schemes and Strengthened enforcement.

Strengthening of Alternate Dispute resolution mechanisms like Lok Adalat.

Provide Self-defense Training

Gender Sensitization of the law enforcement agencies, especially Police and Judiciary.

Adopting zero tolerance Policy, Moral education through awareness and education.

Promoting Social and economic empowerment of women through Policies and Programmes.

Ensuring gender-friendly Public Spaces

Equal access to Nutrition, Health, and education

Adopt a life cycle approach to the empowerment of girls and women.

Gender equality and violence Prevention Programmes can be introduced in Schools and Colleges.

Marital rape Should be made an offence irrespective of the age of the wife

Why make girls around us feel special only on their birthdays or a special date? Appreciate your adolescent daughter, sister, or any other young lady in your life by giving them a token of your appreciation and by empowering them in any way you can think of.

3. Participate in a girls' empowerment campaign

Strong, disciplined men need to nurture these girls who will soon transition into womanhood. So go ahead, and join your girls in their campaigns to spread awareness on gender-based inequality and violence.

Around 33,000 girls are married off every day around the world.

Around 44% of the girls between 15 to 19 years of age think it’s okay for a husband to beat his wife.

WHY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD IS IMPORTANT

1. It empowers girls!

Amid the noise of Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, and even Women’s Day, calling out for the rights of little girls who are silently oppressed around the world is an outstanding step. It is on this day we get to appreciate the lassies who lighten up our world. It should be known that an educated and skilled woman is far more effective in preventing infant mortality, is proven to take care of the house more sophisticatedly, and hence contribute more to society than an uneducated, unskilled, socially abused woman.

2. It works to eliminate deep-rooted gender-based issues

Deeply entrenched issues and problematic mindsets that have been passed on for generations have made gender-based discrimination and oppression threateningly common in every household, particularly in developing countries. International Day of the Girl Child seeks to eliminate the tragic predicaments of little girls around the world.

3. Empowered girls grow up to be empowered women

Adolescence is a critical point in every person’s life. It determines the trajectory of girls’ lives, which is why caring for girls in their youth benefits all. If they are empowered at a vulnerable age, they can mature into liberated, wise women of the future. As a society, we all win. All the initiatives taken to nurture girls have been a direct consequence of spreading awareness in the society. Celebrating this day internationally gives a platform to those underprivileged girls to raise their voice and demand equality of rights, education, and health. It gives them a forum to talk about the violence they are subjected to, and voice their pleas to end this cruelty. Our efforts in raising their voice will help them grow and be free of this inequality.
