What if Netflix!Lin was in Lmk? (It's OK if u dont wanna answer or don't have one..)
I feel like it would be either a universe crossover situation that causes this; or an au where there's *multiple* Monkey Kings throughout history (perhaps the same family of siblings) that got lumped together ala mythological syncretism - why Roman and Greek gods tend to share stories/traits despite coming from two separate sources.
In the "syncretism" idea, I'd love if Netflix!SWK/"Cherry" was like the little brother of LMK!SWK/"Dawn", or even a version of Sun Luzhen from the fan-sequel book "Later Journey to the West". He's Dawn's wild little bro who idolized him growing up, but never managed to cultivate the dao or truly eat a peach of immortality.
When the original Havoc in Heaven happened, LMK!SWK was punished, and Cherry took on his role as Monkey King in his abesence.
However... the events of the Netflix film still played out, meaning that by the time Dawn was released, he assumed that his little brother had been killed/imprisoned indefinitely.
Dawn makes it into the modern day believing that he's lost his little brother.
Then suddenly a determined 6th century peasant girl falls through a portal, clutching said little bro?!?!
Both monkeys: 🐒 🐒 Lin, thinking LMK!Wukong is a different demon king: "ok don't get mad. I slipped him one of these teleporting pills we found in Wangmu's lab just before the Buddha closed his hand all the way..." Dawn: "I have no idea who you are kid... but I owe you my WHOLE LIFE!!!" *grabs both his little bro + Lin in a big hug* "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" Cherry, overjoyed: "I MISSED YOU TOO!!"
The LMK gang are just watching this interaction with complete puzzlement. Two monkey kings?? Tang is vibrating with curiousity.
Lin gets absorbed into Mei and MK's friend group as a fellow teen, which is great since she needs a lot of help adapting to the modern day. She takes to modern chinese writing very well, but dang if the internet still doesn't astound/confuse the Diyu out of her.
Both of the Monkey Kings are too busy being bros to take notice of anyone or anything. Dawn in particular is catching Cherry up on what his missed, how the Journey went, what happened afterwards etc... and Cherry is explaining the situation that led to him getting trapped under the buddha's other hand.
Btw theres also another Six Eared Macaque running around, so the gang are confused by *that* too. LMK!Mac follows this "other him" around is similar confusion/interest until they turn out to be members of the same near-extinct species.

A bunch of ideas i had for spectember and general spec evo related ideas that never came to be but were redrawn as a second chance. All but two ideas were made during spectember of 2021. The top are meant to be alien life while the bottom are meat to be earth life.
In order by their number
An alien sophont originally conceived around 6th grade and were planned to be brought back for spectember 2021. These nomadic carnivores live in the twilight zone of a tidally locked planet. Their hind limbs were once meant to act as pseudo-tails because their ancestors never had one but now act as arms. Creating this reverse body plan compared to humans and their limbs. They also have a hag worm-like mouth that can eject like a sturgeon
2 blind, lithovorous aliens that evolved from cave dwelling ancestors. Their sulfur rich homeplanet experienced a mass extinction so devastating it made the Permian great dying look modest in comparison.
A hydraulic limbed alien from a blistering hot super-earth covered in storms. They shoot their copper drill-tipped proboscis into the air and keep it suspended with air sacs to feed off of electricity produced by lightning.
A secondarily bilateral sophont from a tropical planet with a climate that's frighteningly similar to South America. They would visit earth some 100,000 years ago for reasons discussed later.
A transcendent alien who's original organic forms are lost to time. Their modern bodies are made up of several metallic pieces capable of floating midair and defy all laws of physics. They are capable of creating new universes and seeding it with life. By all definitions they are no different from gods.
A massive filter feeding descendant of modern lantern fish. They can control their bio luminescence as a way to communicate with their relatives or mates
A sophont arboreal descendant of Dromaeosaurs in an alternate earth where the KPG mass extinction never happened. They were originally drawn back in april of 2021.
A distant terrestrial descendant of mudskippers. Not much can be said sadly
A sophont capybara uplifted to become apprentices of the aliens in #4. Their similar climate preference meant that the capybaras could live on their planet albeit with a few modifications. Their braincase is larger, Their pinky fingers were modified to become opposable. And their respiratory system was modified to breathe in their new alien atmosphere.
A far future descendant of komodo dragons on a seed world made just for them that now became true dragons. Their planet isn't in this universe but instead a pocket dimension created by the alien gods in #5

red queen taking place after the 6th mass extinction event has me so unhinged and feral like,,,
its about the underlying theme of being undone down to your base essentials and than remade entire by circumstances out of your control. its about stumbling out the other end, having miraculously survived the horrors done to you but being unable to recognize the person looking back.
its about how humanities hubris will always guide us down the same paths and corridors. how our base components and nature will always ripple across time even as the knowledge of those that came before us is lost.
and what of the great blood divide? how many times were those that bridged the gap unraveled and sewn back together by the massive amounts of radiation they were subjected to until they emerged with silver blood and abilities? How many succumbed to radiation sickness? How long did it take?
How long did humanity claw themselves across the ground of their forefathers failings before they learned how to walk again and how long until they repeat it?
i need to know of the calamities, i need to know what domino fell first. what happened afterwards, How the blood divide happened. Was the Silver’s creation violent and cruel? to mirror the natural, 1500 year evolution of the New bloods? were they made from those in poverty left to die to the radiation, to circumstances they had no control over but managed to somehow survive in spite of it? to mirror the Silvers treatment of Reds now?
was Cal’s arc the radiation? was it the explosion that shattered the windows and cracked the pavement? was it about the unmaking of everything youve ever known to pave a path for it to be remade for those who come after? was it feeling yourself come undone, feeling your dna unraveled, your cells torn apart and Surviving but seeing someone else staring back at you in the mirror? that the blood and ash is still on your hands but the person who stares back is not who you were before. he is scarred and scared but Better, kinder with gentle hands that will hold the world aloft, to help pave a way for those who can fix it, To fix it because he has Learned where his ideals and duty would have lead through his own unmaking.
was Maven’s arc the ruined cities? a place once full of joy and sorrow, of music fluttering through the windows, the smell of paint that clings to some people, the gentle noise of people typing as they write novels and essays and chat with their friends, of people walking and talking, of everything humanity was and now it is nothing more than a hollow city full of the echo of ghosts. A place left to decay and crumble beneath the tragedy brought by those that promised to protect it. A place that is seen as unsalvageable but only needs time to heal. Plants and vines climb up through the cracks, leaving a promise and echo that it Can heal. That it could have healed.
and was Mare’s arc the aftermath? was it the stubbornness and determination to stand on to shaky legs, to look out upon a world ripped apart and left in ruin and choosing to fix it, for yourself and for all those who will come after you? was it about pulling together a community left to die, to rebuild all that was lost, to heal the world and yourselves with gentle seeking hands and promising to do better? you came out bearing scars and cracks, searing memories of the terrible things done to you and choosing to take a trembling step forward even as the earths crust shakes beneath your will. You have had terrible things done to you time and time again but still you loved and still you chose to stand up on your own or reach for outstretched hands. You are scarred and you see yourself as unfixable but your community and family do not and they will give you the things you need and the time to patch yourself up until your tremors stop and your waters settle, until the sun is blanketed by your ozone and made gentle and kind again, until your raging storms become kind bouts of rain. They will wait for you to be okay again, and they know you will never be the same and they will love you through everything. They will stand with and beside you until the end of time. are you the aftermath of humanity or are you the earth’s embodiment?

Matthew Sheffield at Flux:
Despite the evidence provided by history, polling, and daily news events, there are millions of people in the United States who actually think that Democrats are just as extreme as Republicans. In a 2022 CNN poll, 52 percent of respondents said that Democrats’ viewpoints were generally mainstream, little different from the 54 percent who said the same about Republicans. A survey also done in 2022 by CBS found that 49 percent of respondents said Democrats were “extreme,” only slightly higher than the 54 percent who said the same about Republicans.
Needless to say, thinking that Democrats are anywhere as extreme as Republicans is totally absurd. Donald Trump is the only president in American history who refused to leave office after losing a free and fair election. He frequently lavishes praise on violent January 6th rioters as “great people” with “love in their heart.” He frequently promises “vengeance” against opponents and says he will imprison and execute people who disagree with him. And it’s not just Trump. Moderate Republicans in Congress have been extinct since the Trumpist hordes eliminated the few who hadn’t been swept away during the Tea Party movement of the late 2010s. The Republican Party nationally and in a variety of states devised and executed a criminal scheme to steal the 2020 election and throw out the votes of tens of millions of Americans. The American right is also much more violent than the left. Since 1970, about 75 percent of political hate crimes are committed by right-wing extremists. Only 4 percent were committed by far-left extremists.
There are no leftist members of Congress who are anywhere as radical as Paul Gosar, the Arizona Republican who was censured for posting a stylized video of himself murdering New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2021. He and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) attracted national controversy for speaking at a neo-Nazi political event just a few months later. There aren’t any Democratic members of Congress who have spoken at rallies of communists who advocate violence. The anecdotal evidence of individual members’ extreme views is also borne out when we examine Congress from aggregate statistical measures. Since 1992, congressional Democrats have moved slightly to the left, while Republicans have moved much further to the right.
On most specific political issues, Americans agree overwhelmingly with Democratic policies. Republicans’ desires to mandate school prayer, eliminate all abortions, ban same-sex marriages, give billionaires lower taxes, and block people from getting health care are terribly unpopular. (That Republicans enjoy majority support on other issues like the economy mostly stems from the fact that Democratic-leaning voters are more willing to criticize their own side than Republicans are.) A party with such extreme opinions shouldn’t be able to win elections anywhere outside of rural areas in the Old Confederacy. This is why lying to the public about supposed Democratic extremism is the core component of all Republican messaging. Trump uses the phrase “radical left” in every speech he delivers, and the talking point is repeated hundreds of times a day at Fox, Newsmax, OAN, Real America’s voice, and the entire gigantic propaganda apparatus of right-wing media.
But Republicans don’t just lie about the opposition, they are also constantly being deceptive about their own views. Under the watchful eyes of leaders like Mitch McConnell, they have outsourced their most unpopular policy viewpoints to unelected judges who can do things that could never get passed through legislation—like stopping student loan forgiveness or banning the sale of completely safe abortion medication. And under the new Project 2025 agenda being constructed for Trump by Christian nationalist extremists like his former budget director Russ Vought, national-level Republicans will move the remains of their policy apparatus from the Congress and into the bureaucracy, where they intend to do things like using an obscure 150-year-old law commonly referred to as the Comstock Act to criminalize abortions through agency rulings. Freed from having to advocate or legislate on their most controversial viewpoints, congressional Republicans are able to focus their public messaging exclusively on the few issues like immigration or the economy where they currently have majority support. They spend the rest of their time attacking Democrats through spurious investigations, like their endless hearings on Hunter Biden. None of these efforts ever results in substantive legislation. Senate Republicans scuttled their own immigration enforcement bill, Kentucky Rep. James Comer’s years-long impeachment investigations have turned up nothing, and House Republicans voted more than 60 times to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) without bothering to offer an alternative.
[...] Abortion is far from the only issue on which radical Republicans are far out of step with the majority of Americans, and it’s unfortunate that millions of people are having to be the personal object lesson about what the far right wants to do to the rest of us. But at long last, it appears that the public is waking up to the unpleasant reality that far-right Republicans don’t believe in democracy and will do anything they can to restrict and control others. Democrats must act with great urgency to ensure that this process continues and expands by building an infrastructure to protect democracy.
Matthew Sheffield wrote in Flux that the Republicans' extreme views are being camouflaged in public by pushing the laughable assertion that the Democrats are just as extreme… except that even the leftmost Dems are nowhere near as extreme as GOPers.

Ha-naga
Tumblr media
Image © Bad Moon Art Studio, accessed at their gallery here
[Sponsored by @justicegundam82, who's been having me convert monsters from both Epic Level Handbook and Serpent Kingdoms for a while. And this one is from both! I do find it interesting that the greatest of the nagas, rather than being neutral or being posited as an ancestor or patron to all nagas, is explicitly chaotic evil. I'm going to be working this into the Age of Monsters/Great Game stuff, believe me. Also, thanks to this excellent art, I gave my version both disintegrate and Still Spell]
Ha-Naga CR 20 CE Aberration This human-headed serpent is enormous, its head the size of an entire human, and its body as long as a caravel. Its scales shimmer in color but default to a pearlescent white.
Ha-nagas are the most powerful and magically gifted of the naga lineages. It is a shame, therefore, that they are universally evil. Every ha-naga is self-absorbed to the point of megalomania, and they respect nothing else besides the gods, and even those only grudgingly. Most ha-nagas like to view themselves as divine incarnations, extinction level events, civilization destroyers, and other over the top entities. They have the power to back these claims up on a practical level. Spirit nagas view ha-nagas with a combination of envy and awe, and most ha-nagas have one or more nests of spirit naga minions.
In combat, a ha-naga would rather avoid violence altogether with its mesmerizing gaze. Most ha-nagas have charmed victims to slow down dedicated enemies with, and they do not hesitate to allow said charmed victims to be slain in its stead. If a ha-naga’s mind-controlled allies turn on it, they merely become additional targets for its spells. Ha-nagas tend to like big flashy spells that deal damage over a wide area, and then focus fire on any healers or fellow casters left standing. If they are allowed the freedom of an open-air location for combat, they take to the skies, flying gracefully like a snake swimming through water. Their slam attack is a grasping loop of their coils, and their stings contain venom that causes flesh to decompose within seconds.
Ha-nagas are enormous, and as such require enormous lairs. Abandoned and ruined cities are a favorite, with the ha-naga nesting inside of a temple complex, coliseum or other monumental building. They are very tactile creatures, and often sleep on mounds of treasure in the way that dragons do. Dragons are the only creatures ha-nagas feel remotely threatened by, and some ha-nagas make a habit of eliminating all of the dragons within a comfortable radius of their lairs (and stealing their hoards) before settling down in a location for good.
A ha-naga is about 100 feet long. Their lifespans are best measured in centuries, and a ha-naga can survive two or three millennia if not slain in combat.

A reminder and a preface all about ravens
Master Humphrey’s Clock is ticking…
This is merely a reminder that Dickens Daily will be returning to your inboxes next month with our second novel, Barnaby Rudge. Originally serialised in 1841, instalments will be sent out from 13th February 2024 until the end of November. As with Great Expectations, chapters will be sent out either once or twice per week depending on what was included in the relevant 1841 instalment of Master Humphrey’s Clock for that week.
There is a slight complication this time, due to 2024 being a leap year when 1841 was not. This means that the weekdays for the emails will change after a couple of weeks to keep in line with the correct dates, but after that they will remain steady. Thus, Chapters 1-5 will be sent out on Tuesdays and Fridays, then from Chapter 6 (6th March) onwards they will be sent out on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
If you haven't signed up yet, you can do so at dickensdaily.substack.com!
Get excited!
To whet your appetite, we’ve included below the preface Dickens wrote for the 1849 cheap edition of Barnaby Rudge. This did not appear when originally serialised, so this is just a little extra! Get ready to learn all about ravens…

Dickens’ raven Grip, taxidermied
Preface to Barnaby Rudge by Charles Dickens
The late Mr Waterton having, some time ago, expressed his opinion that ravens are gradually becoming extinct in England, I offered the few following words about my experience of these birds.
The raven in this story is a compound of two great originals, of whom I was, at different times, the proud possessor. The first was in the bloom of his youth, when he was discovered in a modest retirement in London, by a friend of mine, and given to me. He had from the first, as Sir Hugh Evans says of Anne Page, ‘good gifts’, which he improved by study and attention in a most exemplary manner. He slept in a stable—generally on horseback—and so terrified a Newfoundland dog by his preternatural sagacity, that he has been known, by the mere superiority of his genius, to walk off unmolested with the dog’s dinner, from before his face. He was rapidly rising in acquirements and virtues, when, in an evil hour, his stable was newly painted. He observed the workmen closely, saw that they were careful of the paint, and immediately burned to possess it. On their going to dinner, he ate up all they had left behind, consisting of a pound or two of white lead; and this youthful indiscretion terminated in death.
While I was yet inconsolable for his loss, another friend of mine in Yorkshire discovered an older and more gifted raven at a village public-house, which he prevailed upon the landlord to part with for a consideration, and sent up to me. The first act of this Sage, was, to administer to the effects of his predecessor, by disinterring all the cheese and halfpence he had buried in the garden—a work of immense labour and research, to which he devoted all the energies of his mind. When he had achieved this task, he applied himself to the acquisition of stable language, in which he soon became such an adept, that he would perch outside my window and drive imaginary horses with great skill, all day. Perhaps even I never saw him at his best, for his former master sent his duty with him, ‘and if I wished the bird to come out very strong, would I be so good as to show him a drunken man’—which I never did, having (unfortunately) none but sober people at hand.
But I could hardly have respected him more, whatever the stimulating influences of this sight might have been. He had not the least respect, I am sorry to say, for me in return, or for anybody but the cook; to whom he was attached—but only, I fear, as a Policeman might have been. Once, I met him unexpectedly, about half-a-mile from my house, walking down the middle of a public street, attended by a pretty large crowd, and spontaneously exhibiting the whole of his accomplishments. His gravity under those trying circumstances, I can never forget, nor the extraordinary gallantry with which, refusing to be brought home, he defended himself behind a pump, until overpowered by numbers. It may have been that he was too bright a genius to live long, or it may have been that he took some pernicious substance into his bill, and thence into his maw—which is not improbable, seeing that he new-pointed the greater part of the garden-wall by digging out the mortar, broke countless squares of glass by scraping away the putty all round the frames, and tore up and swallowed, in splinters, the greater part of a wooden staircase of six steps and a landing—but after some three years he too was taken ill, and died before the kitchen fire. He kept his eye to the last upon the meat as it roasted, and suddenly turned over on his back with a sepulchral cry of ‘Cuckoo!’ Since then I have been ravenless.*
Of the story of BARNABY RUDGE itself, I do not think I can say anything here, more to the purpose than the following passages from the original Preface.
‘No account of the Gordon Riots having been to my knowledge introduced into any Work of Fiction, and the subject presenting very extraordinary and remarkable features, I was led to project this Tale.
‘It is unnecessary to say, that those shameful tumults, while they reflect indelible disgrace upon the time in which they occurred, and all who had act or part in them, teach a good lesson. That what we falsely call a religious cry is easily raised by men who have no religion, and who in their daily practice set at nought the commonest principles of right and wrong; that it is begotten of intolerance and persecution; that it is senseless, besotted, inveterate and unmerciful; all History teaches us. But perhaps we do not know it in our hearts too well, to profit by even so humble an example as the ‘No Popery’ riots of Seventeen Hundred and Eighty. ‘However imperfectly those disturbances are set forth in the following pages, they are impartially painted by one who has no sympathy with the Romish Church, though he acknowledges, as most men do, some esteemed friends among the followers of its creed. ‘It may be observed that, in the description of the principal outrages, reference has been had to the best authorities of that time, such as they are; the account given in this Tale, of all the main features of the Riots, is substantially correct. ‘It may be further remarked, that Mr Dennis’s allusions to the flourishing condition of his trade in those days, have their foundation in Truth, and not in the Author’s fancy. Any file of old Newspapers, or odd volume of the Annual Register, will prove this with terrible ease. ‘Even the case of Mary Jones, dwelt upon with so much pleasure by the same character, is no effort of invention. The facts were stated, exactly as they are stated here, in the House of Commons. Whether they afforded as much entertainment to the merry gentlemen assembled there, as some other most affecting circumstances of a similar nature mentioned by Sir Samuel Romilly, is not recorded.’
That the case of Mary Jones may speak the more emphatically for itself, I subjoin it, as related by SIR WILLIAM MEREDITH in a speech in Parliament, ‘on Frequent Executions’, made in 1777.
‘Under this act,’ the Shop-lifting Act, ‘one Mary Jones was executed, whose case I shall just mention; it was at the time when press warrants were issued, on the alarm about Falkland Islands. The woman’s husband was pressed, their goods seized for some debts of his, and she, with two small children, turned into the streets a-begging. It is a circumstance not to be forgotten, that she was very young (under nineteen), and most remarkably handsome. She went to a linen-draper’s shop, took some coarse linen off the counter, and slipped it under her cloak; the shopman saw her, and she laid it down: for this she was hanged. Her defence was (I have the trial in my pocket), “that she had lived in credit, and wanted for nothing, till a press-gang came and stole her husband from her; but since then, she had no bed to lie on; nothing to give her children to eat; and they were almost naked; and perhaps she might have done something wrong, for she hardly knew what she did.” The parish officers testified the truth of this story; but it seems, there had been a good deal of shop-lifting about Ludgate; an example was thought necessary; and this woman was hanged for the comfort and satisfaction of shopkeepers in Ludgate Street. When brought to receive sentence, she behaved in such a frantic manner, as proved her mind to be in a distracted and desponding state; and the child was sucking at her breast when she set out for Tyburn.’
LONDON, March 1849
* This was later updated to the below for the 1858 Library Edition:
After this mournful deprivation, I was, for a long time, ravenless. The kindness of another friend at length provided me with another raven; but he is not a genius. He leads the life of a hermit, in my little orchard, on the summit of SHAKESPEARE’S Gad’s Hill; he has no relish for society; he gives no evidence of ever cultivating his mind; and he has picked up nothing but meat since I have known him – except the faculty of barking like a dog.

So how does the final battle for the Irken Empire go? Who's fighting who?
There are literally thousands of small battles fought on several different fronts that lead up to the final battle for the Irken Empire.
Sadly the Irken Empire, or Control Brain supremacy over the Irken Empire, continues for many human generations after Dib's natural death. The human race is still fighting many political, social and environmental battles on Earth in Zim's lifetime. Human involvement in the battles for the empire are pretty minimal until Zim is nearing the end of his lifetime. Eventually we become a species advanced enough for the control brains to notice and be intimidated by.
The war is long and bloody. Many races throughout the greater galaxies are driven to extinction. Many are lost to history.
The Resisty grows as an organization in numbers and strength. They launch multiple sabotage missions against the armada and the empire's slave labor force.
As height bracket inequality between Irkens grows wider and wider, shorter soldiers and service drones start to organize mass protests in secret. Efforts to crush both Resisty, slave labor and service drone protests are met with violent retaliation.
Entire solar systems are ravaged. The smeetery is forced into overdrive to replace the population.
Food sources dry up. Pressure for stability builds rapidly. Frylords demand council with Tallest Purple for negotiations on behalf of the service drones, as was their duty in previous eras. Tallest Purple is more than willing to compromise, mostly to get the economy booming again and to keep snacks in high supply and circulation.
The control brains are not willing to compromise. They deny all demands. The armada and labor force is outraged. Civil Wars break out. Eventually the brains take drastic measures. Tbey strip Purple of power.
*
Tumblr media
*
The brains fear their control over the empire is slipping and make the bold move to fully upgrade themselves.
The process is rushed, but successful. Once the control brains download themselves into new, superior vessels they take on the roles (and forms) of both control brains AND the almighty tallest, thus ending the need to measure any further tallest. Purple is the last almighty tallest measured.
This marks the beginning of Irk's 5th era.
All Irken drones (who are not bornPAKless or who received an illegal PAK downgrade) are telepathically linked to the control brains or the omnipotent "Towering Tallests" as they call themselves. The Irken race or most of the Irken race is forced into a hive mind existence. No free will. No individuality. No choice.
Resistance to full assimilation is punishable by deactivation and death. The Irken species are divided into two categories; "true" or assimilated hive-mind drones and "false" or "corrupted" drones, not linked the hive-mind.
In order to crumble the Irken Empire of the 5th era all of the following must be either seized or destroyed by anti-empire forces;
The smeeteries on Irk and Devastis, the snacking systems (Foodcourtia, Producia, The Hopps, Casino Magor/Minor ect), The 5 death-factory planets, The Armada and it's flagship, the Super Massive AND the Towering Tallest themselves.
The details of how all of these things are destroyed are still unclear.
Zim does live to see the control brains and their Towering vessels fall, but he doesn't live long enough to observe much of the aftermath; the rebuilding of Irk and the Irken race,
The beginning of the 6th era...
The details of which are also unclear.
(I'm really sorry this took me so long to answer. It was a great question and I had to think long and hard about it. Wish I had more sketches to go along with this. I'll have to post more on the subject later.)
*To defend, this is the pact,
But when life is scorned
And taken for not
The pact is to
Avenge.

Hi
What do you think about climate change and the future?
Hello, I think it's about time people stop finding excuses and actually give a damn about the planet. And it doesn't even matter if they are spiritual, sentimental or socially interested. Considering that this is the only habitable planet we know of so far, and it's the only one we call home, we should really care more for maintaining it. Humans behave like children, uncaring about consequences, always projecting their wants... this world has been shaped by the powerful and their desires, and we can all see the results around us. The climate change will cause dramatic desertification that will affect millions. It is possible that over a billion will eventually have to migrate, seeking better chance of survival. Mass starvation, great changes in social and political landscape, people suffering on a global scale are only around the corner. The 6th mass extinction is underway, and the future looks grim (if there is any future, assuming we are not nuked first). So unless people start mobilizing NOW, it will soon be too late to do anything substantial. That is my opinion, and I don't have much hope that it makes a difference even stating it; I'm sure many people will simply turn to the other side and keep sleeping.

What are they even selling in Resident Evil lol? I've never got that. At least in Jurassic Park you have dinosaurs and one can see how corporate greed ran away with it before the park was really thought out. But in RE who would ever buy like t-virus dogs or the plaga worms lmao
Bioweapons to begin with. The dogs (and later people) were just test subjects. We see both alice and the one dude be tested as weapons and later variants also as weapons.
Then that whole subplot revealed in the last movie about the additional eugenics/genocide 'let us be kings of the new world' motivation. But I think that was them scrambling because they went way too hard and fast with the extinction level event and wanted to find some mastermind excuse for it instead of just leaning into the unintended side effect aspect (which they did manage to keep! It got out of their control to a much higher level than they'd intended!)
Said it before, but the scenario shown in apocalypse should have been two movies, give us more time with the actual apocalypse. The first Apoc in Racoon City, the second the country-wide apocalypse.
Extinction should have been a movie ENTIRELY about the survivors of apocalypse 1 and 2, or a side story in another country. The 6th movie could still be about recovering/curing everyone but you need to set it up so there's still a chance. The way TFC ended there's still a good chance humanity goes extinct - most life on earth appears to have been wiped out, we're talking an extinction event on par with the great dying here.
Could have toned down the apocalypse to be a little kinder to the planet itself lol
Also keep k-mart in every movie :|

P.3. AND SO HE GETS TO DIE A SAINT
Catholicism always was a part of MCR. “I was raised Catholic, which turned me off from religion because I had a very bad experience”, as Gerard once said. But we can still see a lot of religious things through the years and even now in the new era.
Let’s start with angels that have been mentioned earlier. The first angel we saw was the one at the Shrine show and also we had them in tour promo materials.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The total number of these angels is at least 7 (including the broken ones in promo videos). So here’s some thoughts.
The Book of Revelations in the Bible is especially important in general because it focuses on the idea of the Apocalypse, linking together the themes of catholicism and the apocalyptic one.
Let’s consider some key elements of the Book of Revelation that can be linked to the mcr tour:
·       The important number in the BoR is seven (this book begins with the prophet John addressing the book to the Seven Churches of Asia, mentions a seven-headed dragon, seven seals that need to be opened, seven angelic trumpets, seven Spiritual Figures, seven bowls poured onto Earth) à it can be linked to the 7 statues of angels we can find in MCR merch, posters and other promotional items.
·       In Chapter 4 of Revelation the Four living creatures (Angels) are described. Couldn’t it be the potential link to four members of the band?
·       Seven seals:
o 1st – 4th seals: it brings Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse down on Earth:
1st – on a white horse, carries a bow and a crown – Conquest, ivoking Pestilence (plague from Foundations lyrics, pandemic)
             2nd – on a red horse, carries a sword – War
3rd – on a black horse, carries the scales – Famine
4th – on a pale horse – Death (Foundations lyrics again)
o   5th seal : “when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God […] How long  dost thou not judge and avenge our blood?” (Foundations lyrics: You must fix your heart and you must build an altar where it swells)
o   6th seal: the sixth seal will be the literal cosmic disturbances caused by nuclear war or a global earthquake that causes volcanic debris to pollute the atmosphere, which turns the moon blood red and the sun dark – link to A
o   7th seal: the final judgement which will determine who is worthy of Heaven and who isn’t (Foundations lyrics: and so he gets to die a saint but she will always be a whore)
·       In Chapter 12 of Revelations there is a War in Heaven – led by Archangel Michael against the serpent/Satan
o   The image of the Woman of the Apocalypse (who gives birth to a child who the dragon = Satan wants to kill) is important in this interpretation.
o   The Woman of the Apocalypse can also be translated as The Woman Clothed With the Sun and is considered to be Virgin Mary (C).
o   One of the best-known paintings of this woman is William’s Blake “The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed with the Sun”:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This creature ow William Blake is very similar to the monster appeared in Watchmen comic (where Blake’s quote from Tyger poem appears too) :
Tumblr media
William Blake is the painter & author, who links The Watchmen war & the Catholicism themes.
·       In Chapter 15: John writes of seven angels with seven plagues, the last plagues ever to occur. He states that until the plagues are complete no one can enter the Temple of God (plagues à link to Foundations lyrics)
·       The seven bowls judgement in Chapter 16 are plagues brought on Earth, punishing those who went against God:
o   Noisome and grievous sores (“scabs” t-shirt from Sacramento AFTERSHOCK festival)
o   Sea turns to blood (blood, everywhere is blood when it comes to MCR :))
o   Rivers & Springs turn to blood
o   A major heatwave causes the Sun to burn with intense heat and to scorch people with fire: burning man from the merch truck as well as Foundations lyrics (Will you welcome your extinction in the morning rays)
Tumblr media
o   The kingdom of the beast is plunged into darkness
o   The Euphrates River dries up to facilitate the crossing of the armies from the east, on their way to Israel for the battle of Armageddon - war reference
o   Earthquakes & hailstones: link to the apocalypse again
·       Chapter 17 – the Whore of Babylon is introduced (but she will always be a whore lyrics). She is described as the "Mother of Harlots" and is drunk with the blood of the saints - link to he gets to die a saint lyrics and to Vampires (blood drinking).
Another link to catholicism is Gerard praying before various songs. He says the Lord’s Prayer during shows: “Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name...”
There is also a religious reference in the Offering video: the cross the character is wearing on their back is the same cross worn by Templars during crusades (that links to the Foundations lyrics: and as you stumble through your last crusade)
Tumblr media
Another cross, used during Crusades time, is the Jerusalem cross which is meant to represent either:
·       Five wounds of Christ
·       Christ and the four evangelists (number 4 again – as the number of members of the band)
·       Christ and the four quarters of the world
The cross bears a striking resemblence to the MCRX logo:
Tumblr media
And to add some fun here.
To follow with the Jerusalem cross, the symbol very similar to it is the Alchemy sign which means Vinegar, linking the cross to the t-shirt from MK3:
Tumblr media
Gerard’s vinegar shirt was paired with Frank’s shirt “Piss”. The expression “piss and vinegar” means aggressive energy.
So, the conclusion #2: we have connections to the religious side of the MCR, the otherworldy things and some connections to crusaders times where plague (”we are all plagued”) was very common.
PS: just for funsies, we could also consider the movie Priest (2011) and the manhwa (Korean comic) of the same title to play a part in this. There were no direct references to the movie during the tour, other than that the cross the main character of the movie has tattooed on his forehead resembles the Living With Ghosts logo, but as I (Cathy) watched the movie, I couldn’t help noticing some very strange and very obvious connections.
So:
Tumblr media
o   Priest tells the story of humanity's battle against 12 fallen angels - connection to the tour posters (angels again) + reference to catholicism
o   The plot says about a Holy Knight named Vascar De Gullion who 'loses faith' and wanders the earth in a 'blood rage.' - references to both vampires and catholicism
o   The comic mentions order of St. Vertinez – their real name is Michael’s Sword (references to catholicism) and consists of four members (number of MCR members).
o   One of the priests of the Michael’s Sword Order first appears praying at a ruined shrine (the 2019 reunion concert took place at the Shrine)
o   Priest named Anthony loses his hand and replaces is with a hook (possible connection to Frank’s injury? that is a stretch but hey, we’re just having fun here)
o   It is important to notice that both the manhwa and the movie join all themes of the concept together - vampires, priests (Catholic references to prayers, God etc.), the war (between vampires and humans, mentioned at the very beginning of the movie) and the apocalypse (after the war).
The universe of the movie strongly resembles Danger Days universe – there is a main Company (Church) that commands a City and expects perfect obedience from its citizens. Everything outside the City is called Wastelands and everyone living there is considered by the Church to be a disease ridden vermin. The movie mentions the War that caused the Apocalypse - a war between humans and vampires.

It has been advances in genetics, particularly in population genetics, that have shown up the fallacy of any biological definition of race, revealing that all humans are almost exactly the same genetically (anatomically and cognitively). The reason that all living humans are now so similar – much more similar than two chimpanzees – is because we emerged recently (no more than 300,000 years ago) as a relatively small population, and we have since experienced substantial bottlenecks and a lot of migratory breeding. Any two humans now differ by an average of 1 in 1,000 DNA base pairs (0.1 per cent), which shows remarkably low genetic diversity compared with great apes. There is, then, no basis for any claim for European distinction in innate intelligence, behaviour or morals. Europeans are no more ‘evolved’ than any other living people.
Gaia Vince, The modern human mind evolved further and farther back
Lol ok, commies. Natural & sexual selection among a variety of other things create differences. It's dumb to pretend otherwise.
Finally, Rome, like many multi-national empires, had a policy of moving people around in order to promote a common identity and to eliminate ethnic distinctiveness. The Assyrians had perfected this policy, e.g., the deportation of the Jews to Babylon and their replacement by other peoples. The Roman authorities used their army to this end. They wished to create an atomized society where regionalism or ethnicity could not mobilize resistance to imperial rule.
Nor do we have to postulate a process of ethnic cleansing and coerced assimilation to explain the extinction of Roman Britain in the 5th and 6th centuries. As Seccombe (1992) points out, the Roman Empire suffered from negative population growth. Not enough people married and had children to offset relatively high mortality among infants and young adults.[…]
Once Rome had pulled its troops out of Britain in the early 5th century, there was no longer an inflow of people to offset the demographic deficit. The local population fell into decline, and the decline accelerated in the 6th century when plagues killed three out of every ten people. The Romano-British needed no help from the Anglo-Saxons to die out. They did it largely on their own.
[…]
In human genetics, a ‘population’ is a group of individuals who share ancestry and hence genes. This sharing is not absolute. There is always some gene flow from outside, and sometimes “outside” means another species. We humans, for example, have received genes not only from Neanderthals and Denisovans but also from … viruses.
You’ve undoubtedly heard that there is much more genetic variation within human populations than between them, this being true even for the large continental populations we used to call ‘races.’ This was the finding of the geneticist Richard Lewontin (1972), and others have concluded likewise. You’ve probably not heard, however, that the same kind of genetic overlap exists between many sibling species that are nonetheless distinct in anatomy and behavior (Frost, 2011). How come? First, keep in mind that genes vary a lot in adaptive value[…] Most genes have modest effects, or none at all.
Humans also have to adapt to cultural environments that differ in social structure, belief systems, and technology. In either case, when a gene varies between two populations the cause is probably a difference in natural selection, since the population boundary also separates different selection pressures. Conversely, when a gene varies within a population this variation is less likely to have adaptive significance. It hasn’t been flattened out by the steamroller of similar selection pressures. This is one aspect of “Lewontin’s fallacy.” Within-population variation isn’t comparable to between-population variation. […] Sometimes, this sort of diversity will persist indefinitely because epidemics often spare individuals whose surface proteins are somewhat different from those of their neighbors. Thus, within-population variation tends to consist of different gene variants at different loci whose effects nonetheless point in the same general direction. To some degree, these variants can stand in for each other. If one is absent, another one might do the trick. This is probably why population differences are more sharply defined if several gene loci are compared simultaneously. If we chart how each gene varies geographically and then superimpose these maps on top of each other, the resulting composite map will show population differences in sharper relief (Edwards, 2003; Mitton, 1977; Mitton, 1978; Sesardic, 2010)[…]
This point is important. If two populations differ at one gene, and if the difference is sensitive to natural selection, they probably also differ at many other genes. The same selection pressure that caused one difference has almost certainly caused others. Typically, we see only the tip of the iceberg—a gene variant that produces an obvious effect in affected individuals, such as illness. Most gene variants, however, don’t cause medically recognized illnesses, and their effects also tend to be subtler.
[...]
Fans of the steppe hypothesis are now hailing a genetics study that used ancient DNA from 69 Europeans who lived between 8000 and 3000 years ago to genetically track ancient population movements. The work, now posted on the bioRxiv preprint server, was done by a large team led by geneticists David Reich and Iosif Lazaridis of Harvard Medical School in Boston and Wolfgang Haak of the University of Adelaide in Australia. Among the team’s samples were nine ancient individuals—six males, two females, and a child of undetermined sex—from the Yamnaya culture north of the Black Sea in today’s Russia. Beginning about 6000 years ago, these steppe people herded cattle and other animals, buried their dead in earthen mounds called kurgans, and may have created some of the first wheeled vehicles. (Many linguists think PIE already had a word for “wheel.”) The team also retrieved ancient DNA from four skeletons from the later Corded Ware culture of central Europe, known for the distinctive pottery for which they are named (see photo above), as well as their dairy farming skills. Archaeologists had noted similarities among these cultures, especially in their emphasis on cattle herding.
The team focused on sections of DNA that they suspected would provide markers for past population movements and identified nearly 400,000 DNA positions across the genome in each individual. They used new techniques to zero in on the key positions in the nuclear DNA, allowing them to analyze twice as many ancient nuclear DNA samples from Europe and Asia as previously reported in the entire literature.
The comparison of the two cultures’ DNA showed that the four Corded Ware people could trace an astonishing three-quarters of their ancestry to the Yamnaya. That suggests a massive migration of Yamnaya people from their steppe homeland into central Europe about 4500 years ago, one that could have spread an early form of the Indo-European language, the team concludes. Thus the paper for the first time links two far-flung material cultures to specific genetic signatures and to each other—and suggests, the team says, that they spoke a form of Indo-European.
The Corded Ware culture soon spread across north and central Europe, extending as far as today’s Scandinavia. So the “steppe ancestry,” as the authors of the preprint call it, is found in most present-day Europeans, who can trace their ancestry back to both the Corded Ware people and the earlier Yamnaya. The work thus adds to genetic findings from last fall showing that the genetic makeup of today’s Europeans is more complicated than anyone expected.

Origins AU Mothra!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mothra is blind as a bat and relys on her hearing, echolocation (what her song is for) and feeling vibrations to move around. For such a fluff covered creature, she moves and appears with more grace then one would be led to believe. She, however, forms a symbiotic bond with Godzilla at a young age, her being his ears and him being her eyes. They both work together, in the air and in the water, to keep each other safe. Mothra is one of the reasons Godzilla makes it to adulthood, and he is the reason she's kept going so long after her species went extinct.
Her species, Titanus Mosura, was caught in the middle of the Great War, the war between the Gojiras and the Kongs. Mothra was one of the last eggs to hatch, and the last Titanus Mosura to make it to adulthood, the age at which they can reincarnate. Mothra and few others emerged into a destroyed nest, caught in the crossfire. Mothra and about three others made it to adulthood, but those others had their cocoons or reincarnation eggs crushed. Mothra fled Hollow Earth and eventually settled on Infant Island, where she soon became seen as a goddess. Eventually a young Mothra met a young Godzilla, the endlings of their species'. They both, having just reached adulthood, agreed to protect each other. Their bond is still strong to this day, and stronger then ever. They have almost a 6th sense for when the other is in danger, which can be seen when Mothra rushes her metamorphosis in order to join the fight during King of the Monsters.
