Reminder that liberals aren't leftists and are in fact closer to being centrists and conservatives. Leftists are people like socialists.
Leftists want everyone's needs met. Healthcare, housing, food, etc and within the USA where the GDP is 23 trillion those things should be provided by the government. Workers should equally own the businesses they run and distribute profit equally as well.
Being a leftist can look like a lot of things- like calling for the straight up destruction of a government- but most can agree that until that happens then everyone's human rights and basic needs should be provided at the very least. Lots of leftists work towards this.
Remember that when leftists ask you to vote for 3rd parties with platforms that include universal healthcare, housing, and police reform.
Because liberals who stopped their political growth in 7th grade will try to make leftists out to be "Russian psyops" or white supremacists because we vote with principles and values and that don't allow us to vote for people who commit genocide, let single moms and their kids starve, and/or call environmental protests terrorists.
They'll reduce all this nuance to us "being immature and splitting the vote"
Quite frankly, I refuse to fall for this narrative in 2024.
We are ALL exercising our right to vote for the person who represents us. No, my beliefs don't line up with Democrats so I don't vote for Democrats ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not "splitting a vote" because I can't split my own fucking vote and I'm not a member of your party. I don't owe your shitty genocidal party any of my loyalty, quite frankly idk why You even vote for them since you say you care about human lives but I digress.
If your guy loses that means your views aren't the majority.
It does NOT mean I'm a Russian Psyop. And because I've already seen a post floating around about how The-Russian-Tumblr-Bots-Were-Real-And-Pretending-To-Be-Black I'm asking y'all to use your brains and critical thinking skills this election.
There's a REASON why they specifically wanted to undermine your trust in BIPOC. So let's think about this for a second.
Why would anyone want to undermine your trust in BIPOC? What kind of things do BIPOC say about the government and it's history? What are the political leanings of BIPOC? What would happen if everyone started to agree with those politics? Which party would those views harm most?
It's crazy to me y'all think those bots were there to help Trump when it's obvious as fuck to me that the Real concern is that BIPOC would make y'all more left which would only be trouble for Biden/Clinton. The only people that would lose votes if y'all voted more left like BIPOC bots told you to would be Democrats. We want Republicans to vote more left, remember? That would be a good thing.
They were on the site to keep liberals from going left and voting for someone like Sanders or Claudia de La Cruz instead of Clinton/Biden. They weren't helping Trump. They were helping Democrats. Republicans aren't the people listening to BIPOC Tumblr bloggers, are they?
And that psyop is STILL working cuz now liberal goons put in overtime to accuse anyone who criticizes the 2 party system of being a Russian bot 🥴🥴
Yeah. I'm sure the two parties who rely on that system definitely didn't expect or want that outcome at all. And I bet they really didn't want you to refuse to vote for anyone outside those 2 parties either. I'm sure they hate how this psyop ended with you having more trust in a corrupted 2 party system and less trust in 3rd parties that challenge the corruption of the system. How awful it must be for them, that the Russian Bots Ordeal ended with MORE trust in the current government and people being less willing to change it :(

Yeah, it's another political one
I like to think I’ve made it very clear where I stand politically but if I need to rehash it, I don’t support any political party. I can’t stress that enough. Continue reading Republicans

Some thoughts on our voting system, 3rd party voters, and my internal struggle between my understanding of 3rd party voters frustration, and my red-hot anger at them for splitting the Democratic vote when we have literal *FASCISTS* running within the other party:
Going to start this by saying I literally do despise people that ignore the dangers of the spoiler effect. But I also understand being frustrsted with both parties. I don't like Biden *that much*. I don't hate him, but I'm constantly frustrated by his refusal to be harder on the other side, and play hardball. I'm tired of him doing things that don't work when the other party is literal fascists, and right now we do not need a compromiser, we need a *fighter*. But that being said, we don't have any choice other than him atm, because either Trump or DeSantis will be the Republican nominee in 2024. And a similar situation of milktoast Democrats versus literal Fascist Republicans will be the case in future elections as well. That's just the reality of things. But that doesn't mean I don't have an idea for a solution to the problem. It just means my solution isn't something that we can accomplish by voting 3rd party in the short term.
To start with, while I hate that we have to vote for the lesser of 2 evils, the solution to that is (just to stress that earlier point even more) a bit more complicated than just voting for a 3rd party. Unfortunately it's very hard to overcome the 2 parties in a First Past the Post voting system. There's a lot we need to change, our voting system included (and not just the Electoral College, but *fuck* does that need to go). We need to adopt a Ranked Choice voting system to make it more competitive for 3rd parties, without such a massive risk of creating a spoiler effect.
Problem is, neither of the 2 major parties wants to do so, and voting for a 3rd party has that spoiler effect risk. So what's the solution that's most likely to work? You build support for Ranked Choice inside not just 3rd parties, but even more so inside both major parties, til even the politicians running in said parties can't ignore it. It's a solution that takes longer, but it's a much safer option that's more likely to work, without people risking an Election of 1912 scenario in which someone wins the Presidency that nearly 60 percent of the population doesn't want them to win. People don't want a plan that takes patience, and they want something right now, but that's the only real way to get rid of the 2-party system.
Sure, it's possible for a 3rd party to win elections on a massive scale and end up winning the Presidency, but that always comes after one of the 2 major parties becomes so badly divided that it offshoots into a 3rd party that most of that said major party joins, and also enough of the other major party, and it results in the dissolution and replacement of the first major party. And then the cycle of the 2-party system repeats.
In conclusion: You can't get rid of First Past The Post *permanently* just by voting 3rd party, and more often than not that tactic just backfires in your face. Build support for Ranked Choice within the entire populace on both sides of the aisle and within both major parties til politicians on both sides have no choice but to support it to win their primaries and the parties themselves have to add the adoption of ranked choice to their overall platforms, and it's much more likely to change our voting system to one which favors 3rd parties in the long run. The "lesser of 2 evils" voting will never cease to be a thing unless we get rid of our First Past The Post voting system itself, and what I described above is what I believe to be an actually viable solution.
P.S. I am really not looking to be ganged up on by 3rd party voters and people that *really support* one of the 2 major parties, and will probably turn off notifications on this post (if Tumblr has that feature). This is just a solution that I believe is the only viable one available to us. I realize my wording on despising people that ignore the spoiler effect will make some of you angry, but try to look past that part and think about the logic of my solution itself. Call me an asshole if you want, that's fine, just consider the idea itself too.

Plural culture is having "persecutor parties" where after a rough day all the persecutors end up fronting at once and just dissociating so hard because 3 of them won't stop yelling at each other while the other two are trying to do chores
(spoiler warning; nothing gets done and we stare at a wall for like 3 hours)

Beautiful lesbian wife, I am but an ignorant American wading through the online Dead Sea of Disinformation and Confusing Acronyms. I understand roughly the situation re: Hamas and Gaza, but I don't understand why Israel (or maybe just Likud?) was, prior to Oct. 7, focused more on violence in the West Bank than Gaza. Why would the West Bank be more dangerous? Was it the PNA or the PLO that was the problem? Between the extremist nationalists and extremist religious fundamentalists, aren't the fundamentalists worse hands down, or am I just an American who grew up after 9/11?
.... where *is* the PLO in all of this anyway?
Israel enacts a military occupation on the West Bank (looking from the east), or Judea and Samaria (looking from the past), which is why military presence is always pretty high over there. But, over the past 2yrs iirc military presence in J&S has been especially high, as part of the current govts (or rly any coalition in our hyper election-ridden past, but especially the current coalition) philosophy on settlements - because we live in Clown World where our coalition is made up of corrupt autocrats engaging in incest with batshit insane, genocidal race supremacists (Smut-rich, Bengvir, all the fun ppl), their efforts in expanding the settlement projects of J&S are to be admired, and these efforts require the constant presence of armed forces in the area to protect said settlement projects and settlers.
Aside from the increase in settlement plans and outright land theft sponsored by Big Ultra Security Specialist Government(TM), J&S has terror hotspots like Jenin and Nablus, housing groups such as The Lions Den (rest in piss), Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and, ofc, Hamas. Contrary to what the blue haired girlies like to post on here, Hamas is (and always was) alive and well in J&S. Theyd even win an election there if Abbas (Fatah, think PLO) ever decided he wants to commit both political and literal involuntary suicide.
In general, Hamas' greatest accomplishment was fooling the state that it seeks normalization: from reprimanding the PIJ for firing rockets, to signing more work agreements with Israel (i.e., allowing more Gazans to come work in Israel) Hamas has successfully convinced the state that it doesnt pose any immediate threat and diverted attention from itself in Gaza towards its sister-wives in J&S. J&S also offers an extra layer of danger because Israelis and Palestinians live very, very close to each other, and while some of them get along fine, a lot dont, and routinely harass each other whether by burning each others fields, grenade-bombing each others towns or just doing good ol lynchings, all of which again, requires military presence to protect both parties (but mostly the settlers because the soldiers who are doing the 'protecting' frequently come from said settler communities).
All in all, J&S is practically the wild west peppered with unhealthy amounts of religious extremism and spicy nationalism. It also doesnt help that J&S is basically on top of a giant hill overlooking the entirety of central Israel. If rockets were to be fired from over there.....nowhere would be safe, and theyd definitely be able to aim a whole lot better at our cities.

The absurdity of having to fight for the right to exist as a trans person while the climate increases the significance with how the weather's changing everywhere, the cost of everything except wages just keeps going up, people still suffering to death from poverty, how does anybody not see this as a desperate attempt to distract us
