and a plague of locusts too. lol D came back from her mother’s yesterday saying her mom was in a state of fear because the End Times, as foretold in Revelation, is upon us.
What a shame; in her eighties, she’s lived her life in fear of the end just like countless generations before her. Now when she should feel confident her faith will see her through at the end, instead she spends her days in dread. Instead of comfort, mostly her religion has brought her fear.

Homosexuality was both silenced and taboo. Most historians agree that the concept of homosexuality is modern because the idea of sexual identity was not fully established until the nineteenth century. Jo Stanley has suggested that many women who fell in love with women could not identify or understand their feelings. Historians of transvestism Ruldolf Dekker and Lotte van de Pol have argued that 'it is logical that these women would think: if I covet a woman, I must be a man'. Lesbians may have thought that cross-dressing and acting like men allowed them to love women during a time in which Europeans could not conceive of the idea of lesbianism.
Rebecca Alexandra Simon, Pirate Queens: The Lives of Anne Bonny & Mary Read, p81-82
This is the sort of absolute bullshit I’m talking about when I talk about the myth that sexual orientation and sexual identity didn’t exist until the nineteenth century. To be clear when I talk about this I’m not trying to downplay the pathologization of homosexuality that happened throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the effects that had on queer people. I’m simply talking about this myth that pre-nineteenth century people had no understanding of their own sexual desires and no sexual identity.
First of all it is just blatantly untrue to suggest that 18th century Europeans “could not conceive of the idea of lesbianism”.
I often see the fact that sex between women was legal in England used as evidence that 18th century Europeans didn’t know that sex between women was possible. But people seem to be forgetting that England is not the entirety of Europe.
There are cases of women being executed for having sex with women across Europe, they would be drowned or even burned alive. (see Louis Crompton, The Myth of Lesbian Impunity Capital Laws from 1270 to 1791)
Often the wording of sodomy laws were vague but could be interpreted as covering sex between women. Often supplementary documents would clarify for example a 1780’s French legal book defines sodomy as:
the crime of any man with a man, of any woman with a woman; even of a man with a woman, when, by unimaginable debauchery, they do not use the ordinary path of procreation.
(Michael David Sibalis, The Regulation of Male Homosexuality in Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, 1789-1815, p81)
However some laws explicitly criminalised sex between women. For example the Constitutions of the Holy Roman Emporer Charles V, 1532, states:
if anyone commits impurity with a beast, or a man with a man, or a woman with a woman, they have forfeited their lives and shall, after the common custom, be sentenced to death by burning.
And the 1574 statutes of the Italian town Treviso were very clear:
If any person (leaving the natural use) has sexual relations with another, that is, a man with a man if they are fourteen years old or more, or a woman with a woman if they are twelve or more, by committing the vice of sodomy-popularly known as “buzerones” or “fregatores”-and this has been revealed to the city magistrates, the detected person, if a male, must be stripped of all his clothes and fastened to a stake in the Street of the Locusts with a nail or rivet driven through his male member, and shall remain there all day and all night under a reliable guard, and the following day be burned outside the city. If, however, a woman commits this vice or sin against nature, she shall [also] be fastened naked to a stake in the Street of the Locusts and shall remain there all day and night under a reliable guard, and the following day shall be burned outside the city.
(Crompton, p18)
But even if we are just talking about England there are references to lesbianism in 18th century England. In fact the earliest known usage of the word lesbian (in the sense of a woman who is sexually or romantically attracted to other women) is from The Toast by William King published in 1732:
this little Woman gave Myra more Pleasure than all the rest of her Lovers and Mistresses. She was therefore dignified with the Title of Chief of the Tribades or Lesbians.
Hester Thrale Piozzi described the Ladies of Llangollen as “damned Sapphists” (Emma Donoghue, Passions Between Women, p168) and suspected Anne Damer of “liking her own Sex in a criminal Way”. (Diary of Hester Thrale Piozzi, 17 June 1790) Damer was also satirised as a lesbian in the 1778 poem A Sapphick Epistle and the 1794 pamphlet The Whig Club.
There were many references to the ancient Greek poet Sappho who was often credited with inventing the concept of sex between women. A Sapphick Epistle describes Sappho as “the first Tommy the world has upon record; but to do her justice, though there hath been many Tommies since, yet we never had but one Sappho.”
“Tommy” being another word for a women who were sexually interested in women. We see this word used in the 1773 poem The Adulteress:
Women and Men, in these unnat’ral Times,
Are guilty equal of unnat’ral crimes:
Woman with Woman act the Manly Part,
And kiss and press each other to the heart.
Unnat’ral Crimes like these my Satire vex;
I know a thousand Tommies ‘mongst the Sex:
Sappho was also invoked in the 1749 pamphlet Satan’s Harvest Home:
Sappho, as she was one of the wittiest Women that ever the World bred, so she though with Reason, it would be expected she should make some Additions to a Science in which Womankind had been so successful: What dose she do then? Not content with our Sex, begins Amours with her own, and teaches the Female World a new Sort of Sin, call’d the Flats, that was follow’d not only in Lucian’s Time, but is practis’d frequently in Turkey, as well as at Twickenham at this day.
“Flats” refers to the “game of flats” or “game at flats” which was an 18th century euphemism for tribadism and is referenced again in Satan’s Harvest Home:
I am credibly informed, in order to render the Scheme of Iniquity still more extensive amongst us, a new and most abominable Vice has got footing among the W—n of Q—–y, by some call’d the Game at Flats;
So while its true that sex between women wasn’t illegal in England this wasn’t because the entire country was ignorant to the possibility.
The myth that there was no sense of identity associated with sexual attraction is easily disproven by the molly subculture. In 18th century London there was a community of men who had sex with men, who identified as mollies. Mollies would meet in molly houses, they had their own traditions, slang, songs and even had sobriquets known as maiden names that identified them as part of the group. (see Mother Clap's Molly House by Rictor Norton)
There is also evidence of 18th century men understanding their attraction to other men as something innate and natural to them. For example Gerrit van Amerongen stated at his 1776 sodomy trial that men who had sex with men were “born with it and they can be as amorous to each other as man and wife can be.” (Anna Clark, The Chevalier d’Eon, Rousseau, and New Ideas of Gender, Sex and the Self in the Late Eighteenth Century)
Lillian Faderman suggests that women were less likely to recognise their sexual attraction to each other because they would have “internalized the view of females as having little sexual passion” and as they bore “no burden of visible proof as men do, they might deny it even to themselves”. (Surpassing the Love of Men, p16) However Chris White rather succinctly dismisses Faderman’s argument: “it seems hardly credible that simply because women did not have penile erections they would not have recognized how sexual arousal felt and what it meant”. (Emma Donoghue, Passions Between Women, p122)
Taking all of this into consideration it seems somewhat absurd to claim that “women who fell in love with women could not identify or understand their feelings”.
And this is not even getting into the “if I covet a woman, I must be a man” statement which is a whole other can of worms to unpack.

A History of Vegetarianism and Veganism in the World Religions - Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcast
Tumblr media
A rarely discussed amazing history of vegetarianism and even veganism in the great world religions and philosophies:
Akhenaten the "Heretic" Egyptian Pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty, who ruled for 17 years;
Hebrew Bible, First Book of Moses: Genesis;
Yoga Shastra, a sutra or scripture of Jainism;
Bhagavad Gita of Krishna;
Srimad Bhagavatam;
The Laws of Manu, a kind of "Hindu Torah" or Book of Laws;
Pythagoras and the Pythagoreans;
Porphyry, a 3rd century AD Neo-Platonist philosopher;
The Vegetarian Prayer of Thanksgiving in the Epilogue of Asclepius of the Corpus Hermeticum, and the same prayer again, as it also turns up in the Nag Hammadi Library of Egypt, the Gnostic Gospels;
Early Church “Heresy Hunters” that used to require meat-eating on Sundays as a way to discover who the veg Gnostics were in their midst;
Philo of Alexandria's description of veg meals at a Jewish Therapeutae monastic community in Alexandria perhaps related to the Essenes;
The Bahai Faith: Baha’u’llah, ‘Abdu’l-Baha, and Shoghi Effendi -- prophecies of a vegan future of humanity;
Vegetarianism in Islam: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), Rabia of Basra, Bawa Muhaiyaddeen and the Sufis;
John the Baptist, who ate locust bean (carob) flour, not locusts -- BEANS NOT BUGS;
And… blessed are the textual variants: the Mystery of the Missing Veg Saying of Jesus found in Luke 21: 34 of the Evangelion Da-Mepharreshe -- the Old Syriac-Aramaic manuscript of the New Testament Gospels but is no longer present in Greek manuscripts.

Ok but I love you Cicada!Tang Au!! It’s such a cool concept and I thought I should just give you some cool facts about about Cicadas you might not know. If you do know these I’m sorry. -Cicadas are not a type of Locust, in fact they are a type of Short-horned grasshopper. They are considered “true bugs” for this reason. -Cicadas have the longest lifespan of any bug, living from 13-17 years. -Cicadas have Mercury in them!! It’s a very small amount though. -There are over 3000 species of Cicada. -they can buzz louder then a lawnmower at 80 to 100 decibels, for context 70dB is a church bell -They’re wings are Hydrophobic, meaning they repel water and bacteria. -Cicadas have a predator called the “Cicada Killer”, it is a two inch long wasp that will lay its eggs into cicada’s so their babies can eat them from the inside out. However these wasps are harmless to us humans. -Cicada’s use their long tongue to suck the juices of tree roots, fruit, and vegetables. They like sugar water!! -Cicada’s can make Honeydew!!(it’s technically their pee, b u t still a fun fact) -a Fungus that infects only male Cicada’s can make them gay, the infected male will imitate a females call to attract males to breed with them. 5% of male cicada’s.
and finally, I leave with a question- “Does Tang buzz?? Like does he buzz with his wings, it makes sense. But does he know how to control how loud the buzzing is???” -Eely
Thank you for the love!! It was a concept I’ve been sitting on for a while but had trouble visualizing.
A lot of these facts I, in fact, did not know! Thank you for sharing these! I studied parasitoid wasps in school, but I didn’t realize that the cicada killer was among them! Very cool. The Gay Fungus made me chortle, I’ll be telling people that one lol.
As for your question, I think that Tang can buzz with his wings, like cicadas do, with tymbals. I think whether or not he knows how to control how loud the sound depends on the universe you’re looking at.
In a universe where Tang was always a cicada, I picture him as having complete control over it, even being able to use it in battle to disorient enemies (I think he’d be much, much louder than a typical bug because… big)
In a universe where he was turned into a cicada via weird mystic misadventures, I think he wouldn’t have a lot of control over it at first, and the buzzing would be highly affected by his emotional state.
In either case, Cicada Tang does “purr”, which is just a quieter, deeper buzz that he makes when he’s really happy. He doesn’t notice he’s doing it a lot of the time.

RECLAMATION OF DESTINY
 "The vats will overflow with the new wine and oil. Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten." - Joel 2:24,25
Many are trapped in a great pit — the pit of despair, of sin, of compromise, of failure and hopelessness. The Great Shepherd extends His hand to pull OUT desperate souls, giving them a second chance and making all things NEW!
God desires to restore all that the locust has eaten in your life! He will give you double for your trouble and turn your scars into stars reversing the curse.
Do not lose hope and accept your desperate situation, but rather:
speak to your pit, to your circumstances, and say, 'I AM COMING OUT!'
Satan has tried to manipulate and deceive, convincing many that there is no way out of the pit, and when they believe his words, they become apathetic and lose hope. But his words are lies, because you are coming up and out!  Let’s focus on the anointing God has given us to stand against the schemes of the wicked one!  Let’s reintegrate divine authority into our prayers and spiritual warfare, taking up the “full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11).
TAKE THE HAND OF JESUS
You MUST invest and be a good steward of this time, in order to be prepared for what is coming in the near future.  Do not say, "I have another year to get it together," or  "I will worry about that later."  NOW is the time!  You have a choice—will you remain in your pit, or will you take the hand of the Great Shepherd who desires to pull you out and once again set your feet on solid rock?
So take the Lord's hand, and let Him pull you out and give you a second chance! --  He is calling you! --  Come out and be separate!  “Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.” – Ephesians 5:17.  Do not dabble in the world.  Do not flirt with compromise and sin, for satan knows his time is short, and that what he does he must do quickly. Be not ignorant of his evil plans toward you – we discern the enemy, move in Christ’s authority and learn perseverance in the fight of faith.
He has a table prepared just for you—a place already set, and He is inviting you to come and fellowship with Him again at His table.
He is calling you home right now. Do not feel shame, guilt, or fear, but COME as you are and He will lovingly restore you . DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER!  He has already prepared a feast for you, as well as a new set of royal robes, and right now He gives you a rod of authority. He will restore you, and you will reclaim all!
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." Luke 15:20
DEDICATED TO THE DEEPER THINGS OF GOD
We stand at a crossroads. There will be a great and terrible divide between those who are hungry for God and those who are spiritually content in their apathy.
"But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut." Matthew 25:10
There will be a great divide between the "wise virgins" of Matthew 25 and the "foolish ones."  And while the apathetic spirit of Laodicea (see Revelation 3:14-22) will increase there is a growing remnant who seeks God's heart, and refuses to compromise or accept anything less than a revelation of His PURPOSE for their life and His manifest presence which produces a hunger to aid in establishing the King in His Kingdom (Hebrews 1:14).
Desperate ones will come out of the pit of Laodicea (Revelation 3:16-17) --  fully abandoning themselves to walk in their Christ calling.  They are not left empty-handed, for God will fill their treasures with Himself and they will feast on His presence, becoming mighty warriors equipped with everything they need for advancing His Kingdom and bearing fruit that remains.  Let Your Kingdom come, Oh Lord!
The Lord is saying, "Mighty Warrior, come out of that pit!"
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Psalm 40:2

i think that generally i'm a big fan of cicada wings for purple. i draw what's sensible for the piece, like using other bug symbolism like gnats or locusts, but if i had to pick a type of wing for purple it'd certainly be cicadas. something about their usage as a symbol of rebirth. and the 17 year cycle in which they pupate.
then about king, i like drawing them with wings. occasionally. most often i draw them with crow wings. i think it fits, but i haven't pulled any specific meaning of it yet. i think one of the more meaningful ideas i have is pheonix imagery. i'm a rather big fan of animal metaphors and the like.

The Crossroads
Tumblr media
Several years after the tragic death of his younger sister, the Catholic priest, Masa Judice, realized that no matter how hard he preached, no matter how many sins he absolved, no matter how hard he worked to teach his flock the right way, things still didn't improve. After weeks of meditation and praying, Masa realized that the only way for these fools to understand what awaited them if they continued down their wicked path, was to show them firsthand. And if words couldn't convince them, he'd have to resort to more... extreme measures.
Gathering many able men and women of all shapes and ages, he put together a secret group of individuals who obeyed him, and only him. And he had only one mission for them: to find and bring forth those lost sheep who were stumbling around in the darkness into the light.
"And if you have to set their homes on fire, or bathe the streets with their blood to get them to obey, then you have the permission of The Father to do so." - Masa Judice
1. "The Father"
Tumblr media
Full Name: Masa Judice
Age: 41
Position: Leader/Judge
Bio: After usurping power from the former priest of his church, this cunning Catholic priest created a secret gang hellbent on bringing the Word of God down on those foolish infidels who refused to listen. And if they still refused to adhere to God's law, then he'd personally see them absolved of their sins, one way or another.
"My children, these locusts are infesting our garden. They seek to pollute it with their rotten way of thinking. Go, and teach them all the error of their ways. ...And remember, The Father loves you." - Masa Judice
2. "10"
Tumblr media
Full Name: Juu Judice
Age: 17
Position: Second-in-Command
Bio: The adopted daughter of Masa. He found her out on the street whilst walking around Ginza. After a failed attempt at robbing him, he brought her back to the church and fed her, telling her she'd never go hungry again if she joined his flock. She agreed, and the Catholic priest began molding her into a sadistic, merciless killer who obeys Masa's word to the law. She has an intense hatred and loathing for Sumire Shinomiya of Shinagawa. She hates her for not only stealing away the attention of Max Soukoku (whom she has sworn her undying love for) but also because she blames her and Scorpion Den for the death of her biological parents after they accidentally bombed a government building, with her parents inside.
"We're going to play us a little game. I'm going to count to 10, and you're going to run and hide from me! If I can't find you after I'm done counting, you win! But if I do find you, you lose. ...And trust me, you don't want to lose." - Juu Judice
3. "Nyan"
Tumblr media
Full Name: Kahori Maeda
Age: 24
Position: Caretaker
Bio: For as long as she can remember, Kahori has always been fascinated by cats. It eventually got to the point where she ended up believing that she was one! Unfortunately, this sort of behavior got her locked up in a mental institution. Fortunately for her, Masa heard of her situation and got the prison to release her under his custody. After giving her a place in the church with a nice comfy armchair, next to a lovely warm fireplace, as well as some animatronic cat ears and paws created by the Scientist, Kahori has sworn her undivided loyalty to The Father and will tear into anyone who dares go against him, not forgetting to self-mutilate for any ousted intruder...
"Father Masa gave me a home. He gave me a cozy spot by a fire where I can sleep all day if I want. He gives me all the fish I can eat. And when I do a good job, he even gives me pats on the head! This church is Father Masa's home, and it's my home too! I won't let you or anyone else take it from me! Nyan!!!" - Kahori Maeda
4. "Cassiopeia"
Tumblr media
Full Name: Tora Yamaji
Age: 18
Position: Member
Bio: The illegitimate child of a rich nobleman and a poor woman, Tora was forced to wear a mask for most of her life under her father's orders so no one would find out about his infidelity. Her mother ceded her parental rights, allowing Tora to live with her father. However, she was frequently insulted and told that she was "ugly beyond repair" daily by her father and her peers, causing her to develop low self-esteem.
Masa, having heard of her, had Juu bring her to him and had her mask removed. With his gift for words, he convinced her that it was not she that was ugly, but this rotten world, that couldn't see the true beauty she possessed. After a week of this, Tora pledged her loyalty to The Father and made the decision to join the Church, along with her mother. A year later, she and her mother inherited her father's estate. According to the rumors, he mysteriously died in his bed...
"Tell me something... do you know what love is? ...No? For a long time, I didn't know what it was either. I didn't even know it existed. ...That is, until I met someone. He made me realize something... all the money and power in the world, it's meaningless. My father had both, but he was quite possibly the ugliest person I ever had the displeasure of knowing. Good looks and such, that's not what's important. All that matters in this life is what's in here, in my chest, the only incorruptible place. Ugly I may be on the outside, but on the inside, I am the most beautiful person to ever walk the Earth! I am Cassiopeia!"
"...And that is why you are going to die now. It's not money or power that guides my hand. It's not the promise of a better life. It's not even because you deserve it for the horrible things you may or may not have done. No, the reason I kill... is for love. But not just any love. No, it's love for a man. A man you know very well: Father Masa." - Tora Yamaji
5. "Dr. Saw"
Tumblr media
Name: Chimaki Nakagawa
Age: 34
Position: Doctor/Torturer
Bio: Blood... blood is what drives Chimaki. Ever since she was young, this curious woman has always wanted to know how things move and work. A former assistant of Ritsuko Okada's, she was expelled from Chuohku and locked up after she tried to cut open her former mentor, fascinated with her cool and cold nature. Fortunately, she was released from the asylum due to a lack of space and because she wasn’t considered a flight risk. Oh, if only those poor fools realized that a certain Catholic priest had made her a deal to join his gang, where she'd be able to benefit from the services of Juu and the Bros...
"Let's see... a trim of the shears here, a blow with the hammer there, and... there! Perfect! ...Oh, stop screaming, you baby! I'm only taking out some of your blood! Be glad it's joining my collection! ...And it's such an excellent color too. At the hospital, I had trouble getting these sorts of things off victims. People would start questioning if one of the patients was suddenly missing one of their toes. But thanks to Father Masa, I get to study and experiment all I want with no repercussions!"
"And hey, be glad I'm the one you're dealing with now. You don't want to know what would happen if Juu got her hands on you. Ha, I swear that child could teach me a thing or two about torture... Now stop screaming already! It's annoying me! Hmm... maybe I'd better sew up your vocal cords. It's not like you'll be needing them anymore, anyway." - Chimaki Nakagawa
6. "The Bros (I and Am)"
Tumblr media
Name: Manobu Kita and Kuri Kita
Age: 21 and 16
Position: Member/Church Boy
Bio: These two brothers have been through the best and worst of times together. Growing up in a broken home with their drunk and abusive mother, the two only had themselves to rely on. Having enough, the two ran away from home and developed scams to make ends meet. Kuri would often pose as an innocent child to get victims to lower their defenses, while Manobu would then rob them afterward. Eventually, the law caught up to them both, and they were both charged.
However, before they could be sent away, Masa persuaded the police to release them under his custody. Offering them a home and food in exchange for their services, the brothers agreed. Kuri now serves as a young church boy, while Manobu works with the gang. Though they don't fully believe in much of what The Father preaches, they figure this is better than going back home to their mother.
"You know the drill, chump. Empty out your pockets, and we'll let you go!"
"If I was you, I'd listen to my brother, pal. I know I look scary, but trust me, you don't want to see him when he gets mad. You may think of us as nothing more than petty thugs, but we're good folk, we are! Our hands to God!"
"Yeah! It's just... well, hard times have a way of turning even the most decent folk bad, ya' know? It's not our fault we were born into a house with a good-for-nothing drunk as a mom."
"True that. If not for Father Masa, who knows where we'd be right now..."
"...Hey bro, this is all this guy has on him!"
"...Seriously?! That's all you've got?! *sighs* Well then, about that promise my brother and I made about not hurting you..." - Manobu and Kuri Kita
7. "The Scientist"
Tumblr media
Name: Ippei Fujimoto
Age: 35
Position: Inventor/Torturer
Bio: Believe it or not, this young man actually did not plan to join Masa's church or gang. Unlike most members of the Crossroads, he was born into a good family, had a good education, and was blessed with a good job as an electrician. Unfortunately, messing around with dodgy equipment was bound to end badly. One evening, while working in his workshop on a blown-out, old speaker, Ippei got the kind of electric shock that could plunge half a city into darkness. And though it blinded him in his right eye, it gave him an epiphany. And he now has such an in-depth understanding of electricity that he sees himself as the god of thunder and lightning!
Wanting at all costs to be able to send out electric shocks to his critics, he applied to The Crossroads, offering his technical know-how to find a way to make his dreams come true via the shortest possible circuit.
"No, no, no! The charge still isn't high enough! Damn it, maybe I should have listened to Chimaki and waited for a thunderstorm to try this out. These defibrillators need a bit more work it seems. ...Oh well, trial and error, that's all it is. Thanks for your help, pal! A shame you got burnt to a toast, but your contributions will be remembered! ...At least until Father Masa finds me another poor soul I can use these on." - Ippei Fujimoto

TW: Arachnophobia
(I know these aren't insects but it's spooky season.)
The Phoneutria, or the Brazilian wandering spider, sometimes called the banana spider! (I used orange because I couldn't see the yellow.)
They just want banana🍌🕷 😫🥺
Also their species name is abnormally short because it's just the Greek word for murderess.
Tumblr media
The anatomy of the minacious insects arachnids!!
Their legs can grow between 13 - 18 cm (5.1 - 7.1 in), and their body length can be from 17 - 48 mm (0.67 - 7.89 in)
They're araneomorphs, and have the longest body and body length in said group. They usually have red hairs on their chelicerae (The appendages on their mouth), but some species may lack these hairs.
Both males and females have thick hair on their pediap tibia and their tarsi. The fully developed males have bulges on the end of their chelicerae.
They either have black dots on their abdomen or have a significantly redder abdomen compared to the rest of their body. They also have black bands on the underside of their abdomen.
They're one of the only species of spider that can actually harm humans.
Only 2.3% of their bites are ever serious enough to need anti-venom, and this is mostly in reference to children.
Their self-restraint with their venom is very lucky, as their venom is stronger than even a black widow spider.
The males usually have less portent venom than females, except the species P. boliviensis.
The symptoms occur around 10 minutes after the bite and death might occur only 2 hours after the bite, in one case, death occurred only 40 minutes after the bite (Although this was in a child). The symptoms of a dangerous bite includes; There is a severe pain spreading across the entire limb, tachycardia, increased blood pressure, vertigo, fever, sweating, visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, hypothermia, abdominal cramping, and paralysis. The cause of death tends to be respiratory arrest caused by these symptoms. Part of why their venom is painful due to the high concentration of serotonin. If you're feeling down, don't seek these guys out for your serotonin.
They produce less venom during colder months, and more venom in hotter months. in cold months they have around 0.44 mg, and in hotter months 1.84 is the average. Some individual spider have had up to 8 mg of venom, this was in October, which would be considered a colder month. 7 mg of dried venom can kill 500 mice subcutaneously and 1,000 intravenously (Comparison courtesy of Wikipedia.).
They have been listed as the most venomous animals in the world by Guinness world records, although they do not currently hold that title.
There are only 6 species of Phoneutria.
The females can store any sperm produced after mating in a separate web chamber until they want to fertilize their eggs, and will lay up to 1,000 eggs.
They can live up to one or two years. They can run very fast due to their strong legs. Unfortunately. They can weave webs, although they only use this to hunt, climb, or wrap their eggs in.
Diet.
They eat flies, beetles, butterflies, moths, grasshoppers, locusts, crickets, other spiders, small amphibians, mice, and some females have been observed to eat lizards and snakes. The younger spiders eat flightless fruit flies and pinhead crickets.
Prior to common belief, they do not eat bananas, they just live on banana plants.
Behavior.
When threatened, they cock up and raise their front two legs, revealing the dark bands on the underside of their abdomen. Some species use this to reveal the red hairs on their fangs.
They don't weave webs to live in, rather they wander around jungles at night (Hence the name.). During the day they hide in things like termite mounds, fallen logs, banana plants, and bromeliads. The specific species Phoneutria nigriventer hides in dark and moist places and around human dwellings.
Due to the fact that the P. nigriventer hide in dark places, they may hide in peoples houses and clothing, where if disturbed they might bite their perpetrator.
They can deliver dry bites where they purposely don't use venom. They've been reported to only use venom in one-third of their bites.
They have been known to accidentally bite.
The males tend to be very cautious when trying to mate with a female, and will try to dance to get their attention. Often times this leads to rejection, but if the female does choose to mate with them, they will try to leave quickly afterwards to avoid being attacked, as female spiders tend to attack or kill their mating partners.
Habitat.
They're found in forests in Costa Rica, Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, northern Argentina, Panama, Chile, and Uruguay. There is one species of Phoneutria that can only be found in the Amazon. They live in forests, jungles, and Cerrado savannahs.
Some people have reported these spider being in their item shipments, usually of bananas. Although these reports are almost never actually a Phoneutria species. There have only been seven confirmed reports that were actually a Phoneutria.

The Judgment on Egypt
1 The word of יהוה which came to Yirmeyahu the prophet concerning the gentiles:
2 For Mitsrayim, concerning the army of Pharaoh Neḵo, sovereign of Mitsrayim, which was by the River Euphrates in Karkemish, and which Neḇuḵaḏretstsar the sovereign of Baḇel had smitten in the fourth year of Yehoyaqim, son of Yoshiyahu, sovereign of Yehuḏah:
3 “Prepare the large and the small shield, and draw near to battle!
4 “Harness the horses, and mount up, you horsemen! Stand with helmets, polish the spears, put on the armour!
5 “Why do I see them afraid, turned back? And their fighters are beaten down. And they have fled in haste, and did not look back, for fear was all around,” declares יהוה.
6 Do not let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape. They shall stumble and fall toward the north, by the River Euphrates.
7 Who is this rising like a flood, whose waters surge about like the rivers?
8 Mitsrayim rises like a flood, and its waters surge about like the rivers. And he says, ‘Let me rise and cover the earth; let me destroy the city and its inhabitants.’
9 Go up, O horses, and rage, O chariots! And let the mighty men go forth – Kush and Put who handle the shield, and Luḏ who handle and bend the bow.
10 For this is the day of the Master יהוה of hosts, a day of vengeance, to revenge Himself on His adversaries. And the sword shall devour, and be satisfied and made drunk with their blood. For the Master יהוה of hosts has a slaughtering in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
11 Go up to Gil‛aḏ and take balm, O maiden, the daughter of Mitsrayim. In vain you have used many remedies, there is no healing for you.
12 Nations have heard of your shame, and your cry has filled the land. For the mighty has stumbled against the mighty, they have both fallen together.
13 The word which יהוה spoke to Yirmeyahu the prophet, about the coming of Neḇuḵaḏretstsar sovereign of Baḇel, to smite the land of Mitsrayim:
14 “Declare in Mitsrayim, and let it be heard in Mig̅dol. And let it be heard in Noph and in Taḥpanḥes. Say, ‘Stand fast and be prepared, for a sword shall devour all around you.’
15 “Why were your strong ones swept away? They did not stand because יהוה drove them away.
16 “He made many stumble; indeed, they fell over each other, and said, ‘Arise! Let us go back to our own people, and to the land of our birth, away from the oppressing sword.’
17 “There they cried, ‘Pharaoh, sovereign of Mitsrayim, is but a noise. He has let the appointed time pass by!’
18 “As I live,” declares the Sovereign, whose Name is יהוה of hosts, “For as Taḇor is among the mountains, and as Karmel by the sea, he shall come.
19 “O you daughter dwelling in Mitsrayim, prepare yourself to go into exile! For Noph shall become a waste and a ruin, and be burned, without inhabitant.
20 “Mitsrayim is like a very pretty heifer, but destruction comes, it comes from the north.
21 “Her hired ones too, in her midst, are like fattened calves, for they too shall turn, they shall flee away together. They shall not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.
22 “Its sound moves along like a serpent, for they move on like an army and come against her with axes, like woodcutters.
23 “They shall cut down her forest,” declares יהוה, “for it is not searched, because they are more numerous than locusts, and without number.
24 “The daughter of Mitsrayim shall be put to shame. She shall be given into the hand of the people of the north.”
25 יהוה of hosts, the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, has said, “See, I am bringing punishment on Amon of No, and on Pharaoh, and on Mitsrayim, and on their mighty ones, and on their sovereigns, and on Pharaoh and on those trusting in him.
26 “And I shall give them into the hand of those who seek their lives, into the hand of Neḇuḵaḏretstsar sovereign of Baḇel and into the hand of his servants. And afterward it shall be inhabited as in the days of old,” declares יהוה.
27 “But as for you, do not fear, O My servant Ya‛aqoḇ, and do not be discouraged, O Yisra’ĕl! For look, I am saving you from afar, and your descendants from the land of their captivity. And Ya‛aqoḇ shall return, and shall have rest and be at ease, with no one disturbing.
28 “Do not fear, O Ya‛aqoḇ My servant,” declares יהוה, “for I am with you. Though I make a complete end of all the gentiles to which I have driven you, yet I do not make a complete end of youa. But I shall reprove you in right-ruling, and by no means leave you unpunished.” — Jeremiah 46 | The Scriptures (ISR 1998) The Scriptures 1998 Copyright © 1998 Institute for Scripture Research. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth Genesis 1:1
Then God said Let there be lights in the vault of heaven! Let them separate the day from the night, let them mark the times, the days and the years, shine in the vault of the sky and give light to the earth! It happened that way. So God created the two great luminaries, the greater luminary to rule the day, and the lesser luminary to rule the night and the stars. He placed them in the firmament of heaven to give light to the earth, and to rule over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And evening and morning were the fourth day Genesis 1:14-19
For when I look at the heavens, at the work of your hands, at the moon and the stars that you have made, what is man that you praise him, and what is the son of man that you visit him. Psalm 8:4-5
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament declares the work of his hands. Psalm 19:1
The word of the Lord made the heavens, the breath of his mouth all their hosts. Psalm 33:6
The heavens are yours and the earth is yours, you made the roundness of the earth and everything that is on it. Psalm 89:12
In the beginning you created the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands. They pass away, but you remain; Like clothes, they all get old, you change them like clothes and they change. Psalm 102:26-27
Whatever He wills, the Lord can do everything in heaven, on earth, in sea and in all depths. Psalm 135:6
He who is enthroned above the globe, whose inhabitants are like locusts; who spreads out the heavens like a veil, and stretches them out like a tent for a dwelling place. Isa 40:22
Thus says the Lord God, who created and stretched out the heavens, who established the earth, and what springs from it; who gives breath to the people on it and soul to those who walk on it. Isaiah 42:5
I made the earth, and I created man on it; my hand stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their armies. Isaiah 45
This is what the Lord says: I clothe the sky with mourning and cover it with sackcloth. Isaiah 50,1.3
Oh Lord God! Behold, you made the heavens and the earth with your great power and your outstretched arm; nothing is impossible for you. Jeremiah 32:17
He who made the earth by his power, established the earth by his wisdom, and stretched out the heavens by his understanding, Jeremiah 1:15

Weekly Vocajournal #17: New Year's Edition (01/01 - 08/01)
youtube
315 - AkeOme ver. (ft. Aoki Lapis, Yuzuki Yukari)
Happy New Years, and the continuation of this series! Have a short little song with two bunnies for the first week of 2023.
Dopamine - Kamisama-chan (ft. Kaai Yuki)
Love hearing Yuki in heavier EDM! She compliments the heavy thumping trap drums perfectly. Short, catchy and impactful.
Kashuu Ryousuke/Natsu no Owari - Air Vent (ft. Yuzuki Yukari)
Their songs always bring the feeling of standing outside in a summer midday, and this time there's an air vent going off nearby. Yukari is distant and dry, like you're hearing her singing echo through a pipe. A laid-back vapor rock song with an undercurrent of waiting for something to happen.
A4。- The Flea Waltz。(ft. KAFU)
This came out just as I was writing this! Much more toned-down energy (for most of the song anyway, volume warning for the last ~40 seconds of the song) from their last vocalsynth song, but not mellow by any means. Having vflower support KAFU for the choruses was a wise choice, since I thought KAFU was underpowered in the choruses of the previous song.
もろし_白神 - 霧燭灯命 (ft. ROSE)
First ROSE song I've heard, and she sounds pretty good! Then again I've always had a thing for lower-range feminine voices. Chill pianos and synths.
OZON Music - Fall with U (ft. Hatsune Miku)
It's been out on the album for a while, but I've been hoping for an official upload since the trailer dropped months ago and I'm not disappointed! I began listening to them for their brighter, more cheerful songs, but this is more than enough proof that they can pull off dark and coy.
Yakatora - ラッドペント (ft. Meika Mikoto, Meika Hime)
My first song by this producer, and it's a good impression! Fast-paced jazzy rock, something you might get if you blend SLAVE.V-V-R and Kariki Bear together. Some solid growls by the Meika twins too.
Other Cool Stuff:
Kaede Haruto - bobby (ft. Kaai Yuki)
r-906 - Soide, (ft. Hatsune Miku)
hikaru - Angry Hungry (ft. Fukase)
Usagi 3 - Bokura wa Nani mo Erabenai (ft. Kagamine Len)
nuyuri/Lanndo - Cray (ft. vflower)
Locust - Zero to Ichi (ft. Kagamine Rin)
natsuki aoya - Dokka~n! (ft. Hatsune Miku)

Pharaoh Cicada (Magicicada septendecim)
The pharaoh cicada is also known as the 17-year locust, is a periodical cicada and the northernmost species with a 17-year lifecycle. They are found in the Midwestern and Eastern US, as well as Southern Canada.
These cicadas have a life cycle of 13 to 21 years, with a median of 17 years from egg to natural adult death. Eggs are laid in twigs, and once they hatch, the nymphs burrow into the earth. They are usually found at a depth of one to three metres, but have been found at a depth of up to nine metres! Nymphs remain underground for almost the entirety of their life cycle, emerging only in the spring of the 17th year. A brood will often all emerge from the ground within a same night. Within a week, males will begin their chorus, heard only once every 17 years! Adults die in early July, and the cycle begins anew.
Pharaoh cicada live in broods of many individuals of differing magicicada species, allowing them to overburden predators. By having such a high population density, the loss of a few individuals during the mating season has little consequence on the overall population numbers. Because of the sheer number of them, males' mating calls can become very loud, to the point of becoming a nuisance. Males make their noises using a pair of rigid membranes near their abdomen called tymbals. The majority of magicicada spp. have five types of calls: an alarm call, a calling song which encourages other males to join in their chorus, and three types of courtship calls.

The Tree Sparrow is a lovely little bird that ought to be respected.
Its population numbers can be seen to increase quite rapidly and will take over the nesting spaces of even us House Sparrows.
But back in the late 1950s a shocking attack on Tree Sparrows was mounted. It was suggested that hundreds of millions of birds were slaughtered. One 16 year old reportedly claimed to have killed 20 thousand individuals, hunting them by day and stalking nests to strangle them by night. Local girls schools rifles teams were trained to shoot them too.
In 1958 that China decided to eradicate 4 pests within its country, Rats, Mosquitos, Flies and Sparrows. Sparrows were added to the list due to the belief that they were eating all the grains which were causing people to starve. The theory was that they eat around 4kg of grain a year and that was a lot to lose.
The problem was, however they didnt bank on the Sparrows being great pest control. Autopsies were carried out and young locust were part of the Sparrows diet. Without the Sparrows eating the locust they preyed upon the crops and along with other factors crops failed and China suffered through the Great Famine.
Sparrows were taken off the 4 Pests Campaign and replaced with bed bugs. China even imported a mass amount of birds from Russia to fix the problem they had caused!
