#better drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #yiling laozu #Happy Friday the 13th!#This is scientific fact btw!#Ventilation operates through a series of active and passive forces #The active forces being muscular contraction with inhalation and exhalation having their own set of muscles.#but the interesting part is the passive forces at work:#The lungs have a certain level of elasticity to them - meaning the more they expand the more the those elastic forces are functioning-#-to try and return the system to rest (exhalation passive forces). Your diaphragm is the main force - pushing against the lungs at rest.#Your ribcage on the other hand is under a state of being pulled outwards. It *wants* to be as open as possible.#These to contradicting forces create a constant push and pull which assists in the ebb and flow of air. Most significantly with exhalation.#Now that being said - the primary action of inhalation ventilation is through control centers in your brainstem.#If you lose connection to that due to trauma you're going to need ventilation assistance.#Small note: Respiration is the cellular event of chemical exchange in the alveoli. Ventilation is airflow and pressure.#They are both important but also very different things. Sadly used interchangeably.#My anatomy nerd brain is screaming over the inaccurate ribcage...but its...recognizable. Agrippa, Antony, Actium

I cleaned up an old sketch I did of Antony and Agrippa when I was doing some reading about Actium: it was one of those ideas that I thought would make a cool painting until I realized I’d have to render the ocean and blood diffusing through the water 🫠

something something rival dogs of war. Antony and Agrippa actually ended up being the least interesting thing about Actium imo, when you realize the ocean became a tomb of the unburied. imperialist violence and and dynastic rivalries infecting the water. etc and so forth.

I've mentioned before about likely needing to split Part 3 up. It turns out, I realized after recently counting the pages I've sketched out thus far, it will indeed have to be separated...

...into 3 more parts

So yeah, ya'll wondering why it's taking so long, here's my dumbass not realizing I've basically done 3 comics in one!! XD

So now, the Arc's order will be changed from having 4 parts to 6

can you imagine herbert and dan on the way to peru,, sharing a 10 hour flight losing their minds

dan freaking out because they're gonna be late- he's definitely the dad who arrives at the airport 4 hours early out of pure paranoia

herbert having plane sickness and a fear of heights (fuckin basement dweller)

dan having to bring gum because herbert's ears keep popping

them arguing about what to watch on the little airplane screens (they didnt have those bad boys in the 80s but just thinking about it)

OH MY LORD THEY TOLD US EXACTLY WHAT'S GOING ON WITH MIKE

Bare with me for a minute.

S2 Ep 5: (context: Nancy and Jonathan are with Murray talking about how to get the truth about Barb's death out there.)

Behind the curtain is the truth. Some people aren't wired in the way that they want to know the truth, or search for the truth, or be skeptical of the information they're given. In other words, they accept the lies they're given easily because of this. They want to believe the surface level things, and not look deeper. Kinda reminds me of someone...

Mike accepted Will's lie about the painting being from El so easily because he didn't want to dig deeper. According to the cast, he's pretty clueless. However, ignorance is a choice. He's choosing to look the other way because he hasn't come to terms with his own feelings for Will and is still not willing to admit him being queer is the truth behind the curtain, and something he can't change. That's why he just accepts this lie from Will. He thinks El needs him and he needs to tell her he loves her. He doesn't question anything.

"They like the curtain."

If we wanna go even deeper with this, (which we do because you wouldn't still be reading if you didn't) we could say the curtain = beard.

The beard = El

"Mike likes El. She provides stability, comfort, definition."

Hiding the truth behind his beard keeps up his heteronormative appearance and comforts him- makes him feel normal. El gives him stability.

"This would open the curtain, and open the curtain behind that curtain."

If Mike admitted his feelings for Will, it'd open up the curtain, revealing the part of himself he's been shamefully hiding for so long.

Come on guys! The Byler coded curtains? The window that most likely represents coming out? Literally malfunctioning at how planned this was. Mike has always been written as queer. This conversation with Murray is so queercoded it hurts. It's about Mike. Beyond the curtain is the truth that Mike has not been willing to admit. In season 5, we're going to see a resolution to this. He'll come to terms with his feelings and open the curtain, coming out. He's already beginning to let go of El, his beard- his curtain- and once he does, he'll reveal the truth behind it.
