not necessarily my AU but i ended up drawing smth based on a scene from @novethegreat's fic, "In Love With A Ghost". ooohhhh you wanna read it so bad ooooohh
Tumblr media
+more google doc delusions ive had in my head for a long time and havent been possessed to draw under the cut please work god please
i like to think once yosuke gets over the whole undead roommate thing he starts to feel bad for leaving yu at home all day. (like a pet dog.....) so at some point he invites chie and yukiko over. maybe it’s a study session. but at first yukiko can’t make it so it’s just chie. yosuke tells yu to stay put in the room since chie is scared of ghosts (just like yosuke she’ll never admit it though lol). chie says that she and yukiko have been working on a new recipe and offers to cook which yosuke shoots down Very quickly, offering to cook himself, since a "friend" of his has been teaching him-- he very conveniently leaves out the whole undead roommate thing. but when he’s preparing the food he accidentally cuts his finger. yu forgets what he’s told and rushes through the walls into the kitchen scaring chie on accident.
yosuke: OW shit
yu: (phasing through the wall) yosuke! are you ok?
chie: yosuke! are youuuuuuUUUUAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH
yukiko, the occult lover, is unable to see/hear ghosts… but when she hears abt "OHHH HANAMURAS APT IS HAUNTED ITS SO SCARY ITS AWFUL!!! i mean the ghost didnt kill me or anything he was actually pretty polite but its AWFUL!!!!!!" from chie, she gets sooo excited and begs yosuke to invite her over (for the ghost obviously not for yosuke. which is a bit of a blow to his ego LOL). and she comes in with a ouija board so she can talk to yu
yukiko: so. where is it?
yosuke: his name is yu. damn, not even a hello.
yukiko: well, where is he?
yosuke: …right over there.
yu tries to play along bc he thinks its fun, to yosukes exasperation. however he has trouble staying solid for very long so it takes foreverrrrr. but basically i think yu and yukiko writing each other notes to communicate like point blank pen pals would be cute… also when the others are around who can hear yu, playing telephone with what he says to yukiko and fucking it up (on accident OR on purpose) would be rly funny

this is probably the singular post where i hope most to be wrong.
I hope I'm called alarmist, paranoid, and proven wrong - but privately, i am deeply concerned about pixiv's latest ToS change regarding kink work banned in the US/UK.
It's not *specifically* about pixiv or this *specific* TOS change. This is not about how easy it is to change region-lock or use a VPN. (There's always going to be higher-friction ways around.)
It's a strong bellwether for how jittery international companies feel about legal (if theoretically tasteless*) visual art in the US. Particularly kink work.
Personally?
I fully expect itch.io to have to ditch NSFW or fold within two years. I fully expect depiction of certian taboo kink art to be semi-illegal (whether in select states or de-facto illegal within five years; lolisho being the first one on the line as always).
I fully expect most major internet hosting services to start running similar kink detection software to tumblr, to deter the workaround of an indvidual site as hosting it. Much like the wild west internet where you used to find extremely graphic content, I am seeing kink art slowly being neutered from the "mainstream" sites to formerly "safe" sites to the infrastructure of the internet itself.
There's some changes to my site and shop I'm making some increased haste with in hopes of hardening and beating this like I did with the social media implosion a few years ago. If you haven't already mass-saved kink work from your favorite creatives, or ordered that r18 doujin, I would suggest you do it soonest.
This is the kind of post I'd post on my private journal, not here, because I'm flatly uninterested in getting into semantics debates. The sole reason I'm posting this here is as another gentle but insistent nudge to set up your own backup infrastructure, if you are a kink creative too.
I hope I'm proven wrong.
But personally I am treating this as a very critical canary in the coal mine.
* I use the word tasteless deliberately to remove the "moral" (and legal) aspect of the intent and to hammer home the subjective quality of judging and creating visual art. What could be tasteful to one person is tasteless to another is tasteful again (and perhaps both at the same time) and that's one of the many beauties of humanity.

YRMR cover progress for the curious!
before drawing, there were a few things i knew that the cover had to have/show:
critically, had to have vibes of an enemies-to-lovers dynamic in the sense of ... the power tilt? even though that's not "technically" the true nature of their dynamic. gunter's not a nice guy in this fic, even aside from the possession, and i also didn't want anybody to run into this unsuspecting the darker parts to the fic. him more looming/threatening than you'd expect in base game, etc.
wanted to emulate kozaki's style through the whole cover in line qualitty, coloring, and composition. thankfully he gives a few tips over on his twitter. it's both a neat little nod at the source material, and also as a style experiment.
a big theme in this fic is gunter being made of so many masks/shells (there's a perfect blue cover, see below, that specifically made me think this composition could work.)
learning that kozaki hews pretty close to grids + the golden ratio was another big lightbulb moment, here's a drawing yoinked from his twitter where he shows it himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
after scraping/studying from kozaki's twitter, i made one or two thumbnail doodles below. you can see the solid one had a golden ratio + general line dynamic check squiggled to the side. there's room for the title, the focus is on corrin, it'll work both in a horizontal and vertical crop, looking good so far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
you can see how pretty tightly to the thumbnail i kept, other than moving the vertical text to the top since i didn't have as much room there. i'm a little worried about the different line quality between how big the face is vs corrin but we'll see.
something i also realized i like about the composition is corrin "could" look like she's attacking the viewer, but she also looks like she could be guarding him with her back to him, which.... heh. comes up in some interesting ways in the last third of the fic (possession wise).
bunch of cleaning up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
as I suspected since this is 11x17in (much bigger than what i normally draw) i had to grab a different brush for gunter since thin lines were not going to work as they did for corrin. i think kozaki's real genius is how he treats texture with his linework; where he does thin lines, where he puts the thick ones, etc.
corrin's coming along great but there's a spirit to the first face on the left i think i'm missing now, so i'll probably re-insert that. (also decided to at least draw in his face there even though the masks/slices will distort that). i think what also helps is gunter's face is very low contrast and needs to remain low contrast, to help corrin pop out in front.
then i started thinking about typography. a lot of the fonts i had were either way too masculine/bland/modern, or way too feminine/curvy. this title needs a hint of masculinity to nod at FE's general action-adventure RPG roots, but it's also very distinctly the kind of erotica that doesn't easily lend itself to a genre. it's tender horror, it's daddy kink, it's vicious romance, it's ... a lot of things.
here's another thing: when thinking about title typography, another consideration is genre. briefly i considered something like lovecraftian covers; my doujin circle and i had been sharing pictures of old pulp covers. i also noticed a lot of my favorite JP erotic horror doujin have very spiky titles. this title also needs to be scrunched up in a tight space so it's not like we got a sprawl of acreage here either.
what doesn't help is enemies to lovers doesn't really have a visual language in mainstream media.
it's a staple of Ao3 (written) genres, but the closest you'd get otherwise would be romantic horror (kind of says a lot about who makes what huh?). for example, the shape of water (movie) isn't a 1:1, but it's pretty damn close -- unfortunately that poster dodged the question by using an art deco-inspired font typeface that was more about the setting than the genre.
and then i had an epiphany. maybe i was approaching this from the wrong direction: it's the knight/liege romance that's the heartbeat to YRMR.
think more old dragonlance novels. old medieval/fantasy pulp novels; plenty of kinky sex and ass in there, and still close enough to FE. remember everyone and their mamma having a bi ass crush for bad boy raistlin? that's the vibe i want.
Tumblr media
this kind of glorious deranged shit. you're not gonna be surprised at possessed grandpa whip kink if you read these on the regular.
after ~*arcane designer magic*~ (I do this for a living) bolton and magiona display were the two fonts that were gonna work just fine together.
god that looks so much better. this looks believable now.
Tumblr media
the thin/thick line weight contrast in magiona display is going to accentuate the lineart in a way that might be tricky with other fonts that work better on painted covers. bolton's "squished" vertically enough it doesn't compete with the other one, and makes for a good secondary/tertiary font.
few other things happened.
i shrunk gunter's face because not being able to see his jawline (sex appeal u see) was bothering me from a composition standpoint. it's the same reason frank frazetta didn't censor his glorious asses.
(said seriously, by the way. so many people don't give their lust in art enough credit.)
i also needed more room for the title to show, and the line quality/scale difference between his face was also bugging me. does this mess up the golden ratio composition? sure, temporarily, but his armor's weirdly flexible that we can adapt it pretty easily.
it's about this time i'm also looking through my hydrus network stash of favorite covers for what color palette and contrast to use. kozaki tends to skew purple/cooler hues for nohr characters, and that'd go well with these two.
purple/green hues that play well with light purple and the yellow from those old covers i love so much, low contrast midground, and something that'd contrast well with text above. dark/black background for the gothic vibes, and the text will probably need to be white or some sort of light-warm hue for that "pop".
doing color tests is more of a leap of faith and intuition than an exact science, but damn it is it satisfying when you nail it in one go and go 'holy shit i want to read this. :D
Tumblr media
(green/gold for the hint of anankos' mask, also matching the yato and her warmer skin tone. purple flames for him, but the high contrast armor to separate her from his larger shapes. we've got the dragonstone and the yato as flexibility for lighting and emphasizing contrast with her. )
i kind of like how i accidentally made the mask shards reflect(?) a bit of his own face. hell yeah throw it in. this is something that's more likely to work than not. this is something that has that mix of id and horror i've been going after.
here's another version with references to the side and the golden ratio laid on again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
honestly a lot of it at this step is going 'dude you know what would be SO DOPE.... PURPLE FIRE...' 'dude..... fuck yes....' 'what about some sick ass sword effects?' 'YEAH....' and saving a bunch of backups in case of the idea didn't work out.
(am i going so much harder on a literal gilf porn fanfic cover than i need to? hell yeah. gunterfuckers deserve better. :D )
anyway here is when i start questioning everything, so i'll take a break from the colors to tighten up the lineart. now that the composition's settling in much tighter, i'm also thinking about how the two shapes interact with each other and if there's any potential issues with tangent points (where two lines intersect each other in a way that makes an optical illusion.)
Tumblr media
that said i love how his jawline "points" at her face, that kind of line you want.
grinding away on corrin's lineart. also double checking that the shapes/colors/forms for her "make sense" both standalone and with the composition too. what's nice is she's at the point where i can just turn off my brain and polish up.
Tumblr media
naturally couldn't resist poking at it more and this is when the rest of it clicked after figuring out which bit was anankos' mask, which bit was possessed!gunter vs himself (polished up the armor a bit too. at this point i'm pretty confident that it'll stay "set"; the biggest thing i'm likely to change is the blue silohuette to the dragonstone side for corrin.
Tumblr media
here's the last true screenshot before cleaning up the last 2% of the lines. added the pulp cover texture around the border, switched the colors of the text so the cream would stand out more, cleaned up gunter's face and also increased the darkness of corrin's body so it'd contrast more with him behind.
thanks for reading. :D

“Will this story get a happy ending?” its a merguda doujin by amazekekanro.
one day gudako asks merlin to watch a horror movie with her to overcome her fears to be a good master by the suggestion of shincha. and a good master, in her opinion, is one who makes calm and rational decisions on the fly.
and when that doesnt work, they go to tamamo where they do the “one hundred ghost stories”, a game that people play at night to tell... well, horror stories. anyways, its a test of courage! so from okita, nobu, ryouma, oryou-san, tamamo, and merlin, they blow on the candles after each story told as per tradition
it goes on until its tamamo’s turn again. (im not sure if they reached 99th or so but its her turn when things start going down)
“There are many strange things in this world,” She says, face grave before the candlelight, “Each has a different trigger for it to begin.”
“That also includes us Servants, mysterious phenomena like ghosts, apparitions,” Tamamo pauses, holds her breath, turns to look at Ritsuka and points at her, who now frozen in shock.
“And living spirits.”
Confusion paints the girl’s face before Tamamo clarified, “In order for spirits to materialize, it must have a vessel they can occupy (yorishiro).”
She continues as Gudako’s dread deepens, “And it goes without saying that people (living spirits) are good vessels for souls and apparitions.”
Then Tamamo jokes a little and reassures her, before saying: “I truly wonder where your fear comes from?”
“Wait,” Gudako staggers, something behind her moving, “What do you mea-”
Then we get this:
Tumblr media
“The manifestation of Fujimaru Ritsuka’s fear.”
So apparently by scaring her with the stories, her fear/terror becomes stronger until its become a living spirit... and it turns into that. but the goal is for ritsuka to accept her fear
The servants are alarmed, panicked, but when they turn to Ritsuka...
She smiles.
She just, smiles.
“Ah, it’s just another big enemy.”
She smiles and stands as the rest are stunned, “Okita-san,” Her face couldn’t be seen, but she stands as if there was no looming threat over her, “Cut it down.”
The others hesitate and Merlin protests, “Accepting and cutting are two different things! If you do that--!!”
Ritsuka cuts him off with a smile, “It’s okay. I don’t need fear or emotions.”
Her reassuring smile gives Merlin a kind of dread in his stomach he can’t begin to fathom. “After all, even Merlin agrees.”
(forgot to say but earlier in the story they talk about getting used to all the horrors and unknown that you can’t help but go “ah, okay. it’s that kind of thing.” nonchalantly. because ritsuka wants to know how merlin isn’t scared even after watching a horror movie with her)
next (translated bc ughh its chilling) pages are these:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
‘command’ for command spell was cut im so sorry i scanned this in an awkward angle...
Afterwards, we see Merlin feeling guilty about what happened, bc he thinks he influenced ritsuka... immediately thinking of artoria’s fate, the similar person who also cut her emotions down and led her to her end. the doujin ends in merlin being afraid and wondering if her path will lead her to a happy ending... or a blessed one

Fumi Yoshinaga is known for her big hits including Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, which depicts the rise and fall of the Tokugawa family in the world where the Ōoku becomes a harem of men serving the female shogun, Antique Bakery, a story about a bakery where only men work and What Did You Eat Yesterday?, a slice of life series focusing on a gay couple.
Excerpts (emboldened - for my own benefit)
Ever since I was a little girl, Patarillo! has been my favorite, so I enjoyed reading stories about male and male relationships. I didn’t think of it as a homosexual story at the time.
However, when I was in junior high and high school, bullying was a social problem, and I thought that if I stood out, I would be bullied. So I tried my best to hide the fact that I was an otaku so that it would not be obvious. Although I read major popular manga to keep up with everyone, I tried to avoid talking about the manga I really liked outwardly.
I had friends who were otaku, but when I graduated from high school, not only me but also all of my otaku friends “mimicked” normal people by reading the atmosphere. I dressed as normal as possible so that I didn’t look like an otaku, and I didn’t join manga club. I would go to coterie events, though (laughs).
Since then, I have not been able to do anything other than creating fan-fictions, and I even went to graduate school to continue my doujin activities for as long as possible. During that time, various BL magazines sprang up. A friend I met through doujin activities became the editor of one of the BL magazines called Hanaoto. And the opportunities I have been given to be involved in it have helped me build the career I have today.
Also, at the time of my debut, the term “BL” was coined and there was an atmosphere in which the entire market was gradually gaining momentum.
At the time, it was seen as pornography for adult women. Although I was embarrassed in the sense that I was creating erotic manga, I had no special feeling about the fact that I was depicting male/male love stories.
[...]can easily broaden my imagination as to stories starting from “comradeships,” “master-slave” relationships or the kind of friendship that becomes too passionate and then turns into romance.
Nevertheless, although I debuted as a BL manga artist, it was not at all easy for me to draw many variations of romance.
Even though I was drawing BL, love is love. At that time BL was basically short stories, characters in manga met and fell in love each time. I was troubled by the fact that they were another kind of love stories after all. Also, due to the policy of the magazine, I had to include sex scenes, which was very difficult for me. So I tried to move to a general magazine soon.
About All My Darling Daughters
In this work, I straightforwardly express the feelings I have had since childhood, such as the oppression I received from my parents and the speculation that I could be happy without falling in love. I didn’t want to use manga as a means to convey my ideas, but I was conflicted because I had to touch on these feelings in the creation of the story.
Sayako, who has no romantic feelings for anyone
She is what we now call “asexual,” but I didn’t even know that category at the time. I think it is very important to be named and recognized. It has certainly made life easier for many people.
It all started when a friend said to me, “I pay my taxes, I take out the garbage on garbage day, and I live a decent life, so why should I feel as if the world is blaming me just because I am not in love?”
I nodded deeply at her statement because I too had been uncomfortable since I was a student because I was not passionate about love. I guess I had to go with the flow of society, where people who have never loved others are considered to be living a pitiful life. I have been skeptical that loving someone is the highest good. If I say, “I don’t want a boyfriend,” people say, “Don’t try to act tough!” so I had to pretend to want a boyfriend, which is too much of a bother (laughs). I felt like I was mimicking them all the time in my life.
Gay people
I drew my BL and other works thinking that gay people might read them. So when gay people read my works, they may think “this is different,” but I was careful not to make them feel that they were being denied. I thought it was still okay to be unrealistic, but I never wanted to portray them in a way that might give an unusual impression to the readers.
But Ono [in Antique Bakery] was in a way the only exception. I had no intention of making him a laughingstock, but I felt bad if I had given readers a mistaken impression about gay people by portraying him in a funny way.
I have a gay friend who reads my works. When I apologized to him for how I portrayed Ono, he said, “If you get angry at every little thing like that, you can’t live as a gay person,” which baffled me. At that time, I felt very sorry. Since then, I have been careful not to change the attitude mentioned above. As for the depiction of gay men, I am not really conscious of whether it is realistic or not.
I think there are not many male-female love stories that depict realistic dramas. Rather, I enjoy reading them while thinking, “How could this happen? ” or “I hope this kind thing really happens in my life.”
What did you eat yesterday? & serialization of it in the youth magazine Morning
At first, I presented the idea to the editor of a BL magazine, but that person didn’t respond well to it. In the context of BL, the relationship of the two who have already gotten together was not interesting. There is no description of sex, no indication that the two are growing closer. For the readers of ordinary BL manga, there is no part of the story they want to read.
The editor-in-chief of the gay magazine also contacted me politely and said, “It is epoch-making for a story like this to be published in a youth magazine like Morning, so please feel free to ask me anything if you have any questions.”
I was just drawing what I wanted to draw, which was not much different from what had been published in BL magazine, so the objective opinions made me raise my consciousness and feel horrified at the same time.
One thing I changed was that I made sure to draw the recipe and ingredient quantities properly because I received a postcard from a reader saying that she had made the strawberry jam that appears in the piece. Although I was able to make some adjustments to it in the aspect of cooking manga, I thought I couldn’t change much about the setting of the gay couple, so I continued the manga as it was. However, the editor-in-chief of Morning changed around the time I published the second volume, and when I greeted him, I was surprised to hear from him that Morning is a conservative magazine for middle-aged men.
expressing yourself in a place where many people would see your work & fear of hurting someone
Doujinshi is simple; people who want to read it read it, but that is not the case with commercial magazines, so I was worried in the beginning.
When I was young, I once told an editor that I wanted to draw a manga that didn’t stand out in any way, and he admonished me, “That won’t make for an interesting work” (laughs). As long as it is a concrete expression, it will definitely hurt someone. So, in a way, I gave up on that point.
I think I am probably in a kind of trance when I am drawing. I am outputting what I wanted to read and reading it myself, so there’s definitely an adrenaline rush. That kind of pleasure is what keeps me going with this job.
Changing world, changing manga
I think that the range of content that we can depict has become much wider. Even in terms of BL, there are now not only love stories with sexually explicit descriptions, but also love stories in which couples gradually deepen their relationship. Manga featuring argumentative but attractive girls are also popular. The number of stories that do not depict romance has also increased dramatically. But as a reader, I also love romantic stories.
The range of manga I enjoy reading has expanded and now I like manga even more than before. As a reader, I look forward to the future.

Man 2023 was such a crazy year for AmaTsuka... I'm going to make a vague attempt at tabbing through Cataclysmic events in chronological order
Tumblr media
February really kicked off the beginning of the year. First ominously seeing this header Tsukasa and feeling like, no... no... What's this? [brain shriveling up] call girl... phone sex... [REACQUIRES LIQUID] wait, Eros and Anteros?? [camera lens focusing] heart... necklace?
Matching? heart? necklace? hearts weighed on a scale? [crying]
Tumblr media
[the event itself starts happening] [we see Amane's design in full and have to process he's some sort of corseted whore] Excuse me-!! Excuse me, sensei-!!!!! What does it mean! Help me!!
We get further information about how these demon brothers are extracting love from people and turning it into jewelry. (Ominously we receive no explanation on what their particular pieces of heart jewelry mean... LIKELY different in nature from the other hearts around them, but in what way? Not like we'll ever find out I guess.)
Like some sick doujin set-up, they're doing a competition where the loser must do what the other says at the end of this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deplorable... Reprehensible images. The vibes of this game they are playing with one another... The voting feels rigged anyways, because Amane's more capable of presenting himself appealingly, working everyone over.
This sucks I don't want to see what happens next I want to go home. [it persists.] I'm watching Nene-chan be TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, WHY IS THAT HAPPENING. [it persists] fgwait why is Tsukasa eating chocolates where did he get those. [it persists] FEEEEEEED ? CHOCOLATE? OMINOUS ALLUDING TO WHAT WILL HAPPEN LATER? WHY!!!! but why am I in some sort of doujin. It's happening that way and I can't stop it...
Tumblr media
As always, the twins get along better than you could ever predict. "For now" feed him chocolates. Ok
⬆ while trying to learn to cope from this, we are randomly blasted with this ⬇
Tumblr media
End of February, this is revealed to us to be the inner sleeve of V19... DEVASTATION REIGNS, THIS IS THE SCARIEST IMAGE EVER... A Hanako with severe cock presence. Tsukasa's fair maiden quality ever emphasized by being surrounded by luxurious sakura petals, a special variety even... Fancy and cultivated. Tsukasa-chan...
Of course this is really stimulating when thinking about canon, this is our biggest look into the atmosphere of the deepest sanctum of Hanako's boundary. Perhaps Tsukasa was here suspended, sleeping beauty style... [horny]
Tumblr media
Early March, getting this shikishi. It's more of a personal journey here, but getting an AU where the twins are simply... normal boys, alive, together, visibly, is a lot. Bandage boy Amane even...? Aesthetically, that one-?? Uough... Such a radiant Nene-chan here too... Thank you sensei. I'm grateful this time, not mad at you.
Tumblr media
Advertising for V19, naturally we get to see scenes within it. I appreciate getting to see scenes again in color, at different angles etc. This image amuses me, it's like there are pheromones in the air. hot haze of red and purple... paralytic agents. Amane is dissociating and half-hard, as we like him to be.
Tumblr media
Extra shikishi because of a G-Fantasy anniversary!
Of all AUs to return, never would've guessed this particular one would, from a set of icons/headers from 2022... That idol Tsukasa was already intriguing, but it's cool to see him in full. There's, a mysterious quality to his outfit, seeing it all, it's almost like the 'hakama' part is connected to his top, so. Are you just in a dress, Tsukasa..? I can't help but think you are...
This Amane meanwhile makes me laugh, WOOO he's here to stan, adorning purple in honor of Tsukasa's color. Tsukasa here has the big mic, he's our main singer. It's like a world where the twins figured out a hobby to pursue together, they can be obsessed with each other in this way, and blow off steam dancing whoreishly. Well congrats. Also I loev you yashiro. you look like. a cake topper. come to our dressing room after the show ok.
it's whimsical for asecond. but then sensei is out for blood. because
Tumblr media
this happens. like dropping a big anvil on hundreds of mice. (the innocent fujoshi.)
this image convinces me sensei is evil and wants to hurt the girlies reading this manga. they're not holding back. i saw a deluge of tweets saying things like, Why does this look like a BL / the main characters? these are the main characters? / I can't read the chapter, the illustration won't let me / Why is it AmaTsuka
Everyone felt like they had a group hallucination. Why is it AmaTsuka... (It's always been AmaTsuka) (but still) Why is it this degree of it. Don't understand the deflowering vibes from this. Princess and knight. the torn butterfly wings and the flowers. the like evocative feminine orchids and the obscene wet feeling fruits. Tsukasa's sleeves being flower petals as well, he is the delicate feminine flower here. Hands pulling you close. "Searching for a reason to stand by your side." Why did you say that? Why did you do that? I feel like crying as I type this.
This is basically the most devastating event for the entire year and it happened so early, we spend the rest of the year still looking back and feeling faint. It's hard to be this valid, you all really cannot fathom, what it really means to be 'canon'... It's a pain I carry. Searching for a reasonnnnnnnnnn.....
Tumblr media
Late March / beginning of April, and we are about to embark on our 6-month kitty cat crucible. AmaTsuka is going to become a genuine INTERSPECIES narrative, something I would've guessed blasphemous actually. But I suppose not... in this world, Tsukasa can be a child laborer/animal handler at a circus, and Amane can be his precious black kitten. With a little bell.
Amane runs off with Tsukasa, saving his life... They escape together, and are together still, 50 years later. How romantic. We're at the start, and it's already painful and glorious. Senseiiii!!
Tumblr media
You know who is holding that cat tail. We have fun here, we take turns being the kitty. Tsukasa has a matching collar now, after all. :3
INTERLUDE for the April update, where we get Ch 101. ALIVE BOYS. CLOCK BOYS!! FIRST YEAR MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS. OMEN!!!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Serenading, beautiful Tsukasa... singing Over the Rainbow... This loving glance.

It's amazing to get a glimpse into their past, before the rope-burn and injury times. The prelude... Set in such a grim space as this area accessing the clock's inner workings. Captivatingly isolated, enclosed, kinda scary and dank... And we're brushing up against Amane's problem, how he won't say what he wants, won't make a decision. You need to make a decision, Amane...
Back. To the ryokan. Something something, there's a difficult to convey joke in Tsukasa's space, referencing sabi-neko (tortie cats (female cats?)) and also making a pun on 'service'. I get it I get it, Tsukasa is Amane's slave, you don't have to keep telling me...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone gets along surprisingly well.
Tumblr media
(This was an amazing year for TsuNene too, of course....)
I say all that but we do get revealed, during this cafe event, that. I guess Hanako is predatory and out here definitely seeming like he wants the guests to eat food to make them tastier and then get eaten. And Nene is also has insatiable lust to consume a human, which is like, upsetting, when you consider Tsukasa is a secret harbored human here. I guess Hanako has no issues with conspiring with his hot co-workers about how delectable humans are, while his 'twin brother' (not really?) (fetish RP?) is locked up in the closet or something. And I guess he does that all day and humps Tsukasa later like mmm my precious little dartyy secret boy.
Bonus thing, there was this insidious meta happening as I watched fujoshi repeatedly visiting the cafes and trying to eat as much scattered sushi and Tsukasa's Milk as possible. while the narrative is about entrapping people and fattening them up for slaughter. IG it felt kind of ghoulish that they couldn't resist the bait of the location and presentation of the meals.
Tumblr media
August. Who are they lol? Some more fetish outfits... Amane and his collars, and Tsukasa looking like some little hentai mask girlie. The vibe is like, Amane is a cool super villain, and Tsukasa is there to go kyaaaa ❤
There's some stupid mokke promotional image that informs us these boys have ? horsie tails? so they are like, unicorns? We're having fun with animalish boys lately, I suppose... Thank you sensei (???) I can think about these unicorn boys and a fair maiden now.
Tumblr media
Later in August, V20's inner sleeve images. Simply satisfying to see, thank you... back against back...
Tumblr media
AND DELIGHTFULLY we get Amane-kun and Tsukasa-kun sillytimes too. AMANE BEING JEALOUS!! SHITTY!!! If you spend too much time working on a school festival, your older brother is going to feel abandoned and lonelyyy...
Tumblr media
Starting September a little diabolically. Kitty in lap... This serene expression on Tsukasa... The fujoshi were troubled once more, that it could Be Like This.
Petting you, scritching your chin, going to pick the cattail fluffs out of your fur... Intimate moments like these must happen all the time. Sighhh...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Advertising V20 later in September. These images are so-- the genders. Amane looks like he is going to beat Tsukasa with that wrench. Scary guy. Tsukasa, a natural vixen, as usual. The framing of him before the big clock... Artful.
Tumblr media
Bonus lil sad guy in late September... A look into the Amane that misses Tsukasa when he went missing. XU !!! I like to think he was truly helpless without Tsukasa there, pining for him.
Fsr between everything, TsuNene is getting buck wild and ramping up, until you get Tsukasa kissing Nene... She gets smallified in the manga and I'm suddenly like wtf canon moments of oniiloli for TsunNene. And Monster Nursery comes back so it really hammers in. IT'S JUST A VERY INTERESTING YEAR PSYCHOLOGICALLY. And VERY fun if you're me, shipping all 3 of them. Woooooo (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Anyways November has our last couple major beats...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tsukasa asserting that Amane won't come if he called, never has, alludes to so much. Why were you calling? For what, how long, what convinced you Amane would never? The idea of a Tsukasa that would plead to be saved or helped in any manner is dizzying. Beyond that — does Tsukasa not believe he has implicit value, not something Amane covets...?
(Meanwhile, I have to love that he confides this to Nene, and encourages her to get them out of this situation. Tsukasa had to make his way out of his own entrapment[?] in the past, and he believes Nene can too. They're similar, aren't they? Hehe.)
The pacing of the fall, Tsukasa catching Nene, then the ambiguous line, as if he mouthed Amane's name to himself...
Tumblr media
And he shows up, like your hero, I guess.
'何?' ⬅ ??? ??? ?? Atrocious. Could that truly be your response? With that expression? Moody, hands in pockets, acting cool... You do all that and then you throw Tsukasa's handcuffed arms over your neck. Saving your two captive princesses... It's absurd out here. The fujoshi are dying for a reason.... You get sick of inhaling the toxic fumes of twincest miasma.
I suppose to make me less angry at them, AidaIro present a final birthday offering.
Tumblr media
Naughtyyy shrimpt stealing boy... I can't believe it. Amane! You would steal the shrimps your mom is slaving away at, and hand them to your brother. He's going for more! Tsukasa is innocent and he of course must appreciatively eat your pilfered shrimp... But goodness.
Iet's simple, it's cute, it's a lovely illustration with lovely colors, it depicts another moment from canon we haven't seen (right before photos?) Silly and cute and says a lot about their relationship still! I feel like Tsukasa is often passive like a sweet kitten while Amane is a naughty boy. Wah!
A truly devastating glorious year, I feel so valid, I feel like I'm stuck on my throne, which is also a torture device, I'm strapped to it, there's a horrendous machine stuffing grapes in my mouth, I'm being laughed at, I'm crying. That's what it is like to ship AmaTsuka right now I suppose. HanaNeneTsuka thrums in the background all the while, ominous and foreboding. We get closer and closer to the end goal of all 3....
I'm looking forward to 2024. よろしくお願いします.

everyone is like "ohh you should tag fetishes so the vanilla crew can blacklist them" NO. As a vanilla ice cream people need to start tagging their vanilla art. My only choice right now is the general nsfw tag and brother this shit is not vanilla by default. Vanilla gang rise up we need to acknowledge that being boring is a fetish so we can actually find one another.
honestly yeah i do think that vanilla nsfw content should have its own tag! i've reblogged a joking sort of post about it before, but in reality my feelings are more like... while it's not what gets me off, sometimes i just want to read something vanilla and cute about characters that i like, who also like each other, because it's delightful. but on things like h-doujin sites, there's never really a specific tag for works that are vanilla.
but thinking about it, one of the issues might be the semantics involved in deciding what can and can't go in the tag? because someone's idea of vanilla might be restricted to things depicting cisgender m/f missionary piv fucking, vs. someone else who considers vanilla to be consensual sex between any variety of people, as long as it doesn't involve anything that's like. purposefully fetishistic? if that makes sense.
BUT ANYWAY, i'm half asleep and rambling. i hope this is coherent. wishing you luck in finding good vanilla art, anon... ૮₍ ˶• ༝ •˶ ₎ა

Hisoka is Dead
Prompt: Illumi kills Hisoka, and deals with the resulting emotional fallout very poorly.
Rating: Mature (Violence & Death)
Words: 3,800
Note: Hisoka is dead, but this author believes in happy endings. 😚
[[ A Hisoillu doujin script that I may or may not draw out. ]]
(A forest setting, littered with cards, needles, and blood.)
Illumi checks over Hisoka’s still body, and stands up casually.  He has many injuries as well, but doesn’t appear bothered by them.
“Mm. He died.” Illumi says calmly.
“...Well, I guess it’s been settled then.”
Illumi leaves the body where it is and walks back to the road.
He calls his chauffeur to return for a pick-up, and sits in the back alone on the way to the airport. He takes a private airship home.
(A few weeks pass)
Illumi is bothered by his habitual reflex to text or meet with Hisoka.
“It’s very… bizarre.”  “It feels like muscle memory, but that’s not accurate.” “Habit, then?” “Is it habitual to think ‘Oh, Hisoka would want to see…’ or ‘Ah, I should tell Hisoka at our next meeting…’?” “Was it that often that we were in contact?”
Illumi’s hand twitches toward his pocket to where his phone is, but he doesn’t pull it out.
“These side-thoughts have no relevance anymore. I don’t know why I am having them so often.”
“Hisoka is dead.” “It is impossible to contact him.”
“What did I used to do with my time, before Hisoka and I met frequently?”
“I would start a job, complete it, and return home to wait for another. That is a fine schedule for an assassin.”
“There is nothing I want, so there is nothing else to do.”
“...That’s right.” “I would recuperate and train whenever I had free time, because I want nothing, and there is nothing else to do in the meantime. That’s what I would do before…”
“Before…”
Illumi remembers meeting Hisoka.  He remembers when they started to go to dinner or for drinks when discussing work.
“But, those meetings were about work.”
He remembers Hisoka smiling, and laughing about something he said.
“So, that’s what is missing.”
“I don’t meet any other clients that way, nor do I have any allies outside of Hisoka to meet with.” “...”
“I prefer to have minimal-to-no in-person contact with clients, and I’m not interested in finding a new ally…”
“So, I guess I won’t be having meetings like that anymore.”
(Two months since Hisoka’s death)
Illumi cleans off his hands with a handkerchief after an assassination.  He takes out his phone to inform his father that the job is completed, and stares at his contacts.
They are listed in order of most recently messaged, and all are numbers without designated names, except for Silva and Milluki, who are at the top of the list.  (Preview says: Silva: [[Good.]], Milluki: [[Illu-nii pick up more chips on your…]] )
“It looks strange to me.” “...”
Illumi thumbs down one contact, and Hisoka’s contact is there. (⭐Hisoka💧) Their last text is previewed:
[[ See you there. ♡ ]]
“...”
Illumi scrolls back up and texts his father that the job is completed.
Illumi returns home that night. He feels very strange, almost unwell. He sits on his bed and stares at his contact list again.
“It is pointless to keep the contact information of a dead person.”
“There will be no more work from them. They cannot text back. They will not call again.”
“Hisoka will never text me again.” “Hisoka will never call me again.”
Illumi stares at Hisoka’s contact. He feels very unwell.
“Never…”
He taps the box to open the text chat.
“...again.”
Their previous messages are there, timestamped for two months ago:
[[ You’re still up for this tonight? ♦ ]] [[ Yes. ]] [[ Great~ ]] [[ We can meet at (xxxxxx) at 7PM, then go out after. ♣ ]] [[ What do you think? ]] [[ That’s fine. ]] [[ Fufufu, you’re so agreeable, Illu. ]] [[ See you there. ♡ ]]
Illumi stares at the messages for a very, very long time. (over an hour)
“It’s a strange feeling.”
“When I read these messages…”
“It’s as if Hisoka isn’t dead.” “It’s as if we just haven’t messaged since that night.”
“...I know he is dead, though, so I should delete his contact.”  “...”
Illumi opens Hisoka’s contact information fully, and scrolls to the bottom of the profile. He stares at the [Delete Contact] button.
After some time, he turns his phone screen off, and sets it on his bedside table.
Illumi lies down, unsure how to deal with the sickening feeling he’s been having. It has only gotten worse since he noticed it.
He muses over possibilities;
Perhaps Hisoka used a Nen ability on him upon his death? Maybe he was more injured than he thought from their battle, and has an unknown wound internally? Or maybe Hisoka’s cards or nails were laced with an unknown substance — though it was improbable that that could be the reason. Illumi doubts that there is any poison known to man that can harm him.
But still, he feels ill.
Illumi hasn’t felt sick at all since he was a young boy undergoing poison resistance training, afterwhich, he had never had so much as a stomach ache again.
Medicine has no effect on Zoldyck’s, as drugs were also covered under poison resistance, so there is no point in taking anything for his nausea.
Illumi grips at his chest and stomach to ease the aching. All he is able to do is breathe and wait for the feeling to pass. It is very uncomfortable, usually he has no reaction to pain, even if he is aware that it ‘hurts’.
The pressure of fingers on his skin reminds Illumi of Hisoka, and how he would touch him.
He remembers how it felt to be held by him. He remembers how it felt to lie in bed with another person; to have Hisoka hold him because he wanted to. It used to annoy him to feel someone’s sleeping breath on his ear, but he had gotten used to it after many nights like that.
Illumi rolls onto his side, and can easily imagine how Hisoka would position his arms under his neck and over his side. He can easily recall how Hisoka’s chest and stomach would feel against his back, if he was lying with him in this position now.
Illumi becomes agitated, and digs his fingers into his scalp while he thinks. The feeling isn’t an ache anymore, it’s making him very upset.
“Hisoka is dead, these thoughts are pointless.”
“Hisoka will never hold me again.” “Hisoka will never lie beside me again.”
Illumi gets up, shaking in annoyance. His malice is seeping out, and he needs to take out his aggression somehow. He leaves to seek out an outlet for his energy.
“Surely, father has more work for me.”
(Three months since Hisoka’s death)
Illumi is walking up Kukuru Mountain after finishing work. His arms are dirtied to the elbows with blood, and his hair isn’t neatly in place. The grime is something out-of-character for him, but he remains coldly focused on returning home to prepare for his next job.
He has been absorbing himself in his work out of spite for his lingering thoughts of Hisoka. His mind is too cluttered when he has free time, he decided, and it’s better for him to focus on jobs, and remind himself of the life he used to lead quite easily in his teens and early 20’s.
Illumi thinks back to his latest target.
He wriggled around too much, and had a lot of guards that were quite a nuisance.
It was the sort of job that Illumi would have asked Hisoka to assist with, if he was still alive.  Hisoka would have had fun tearing those haughty guards apart.
But it didn’t matter, because Hisoka was dead, and Illumi was capable of handling things alone.
Illumi arrives at the manor, disturbing a few of the butlers with his demeanor.
“Where is Father?” “Apologies, Master Illumi, Master Silva has yet to return home.”
Illumi leaves to wash up instead, and goes to bed without eating.
He has a dream about his and Hisoka’s time together in the Hunter Exam. It’s very vivid, like walking through a memory.
Illumi can see Hisoka's back as he approaches him after killing Goz, and Hisoka looks at him cheekily and says what he remembers him saying, but Illumi can’t reply.
It seems like Illumi must have said exactly what he actually said at the time, because Hisoka retorts the same as he remembers, too.
Hisoka catches the badge that Illumi tosses to him, and watches him change out of his Gittarackur disguise.  Instead of remaining seated after, Hisoka stands up and approaches him.
(His face remains out of frame, or covered by dialogue.)
“This isn’t…”
Illumi is frightened by the sudden change in script, but can’t recoil in time to avoid Hisoka’s hands cradling his jaw on either side.
“This isn’t how…”
Hisoka pulls him into an embrace, hiding his face in Illumi’s hair.
“It didn’t happen like this…”
Hisoka smiles against his ear.
“Illu~♡”  “My Illu~♡♡♡” “You’re so good, Illumi.” “You were so good, Illumi.” “So good to me~”
Illumi is disturbed to be held like this after so long. Hisoka’s voice sounds airy, like an echo.
“It went perfectly, didn’t it? ♡” (“H…”)
Hisoka raises his face to be nose-to-nose with Illumi, and his eyes are unusually dull. He’s bloody, and their outfits have changed to the ones they wore on the night that Hisoka died.
“Just like you predicted, no?” (“H… Hi…so”)
It’s hard to see his face, Illumi can only visualize aspects of it.
"You told me how it would end.” “That you’d kill me. ♣ ” (“Hiso–”)
“Hisoka.”
Illumi wakes up in a cold sweat. He sits up in a dead silence, shaking and staring into the dark.
Did he actually say his name? Or was that part of the dream?
It feels like his name is right there on his lips.
Illumi has said it so many times, there’s no way he would mistake it for a different word forming.  It wasn’t in his mind, Illumi is sure. His mouth thoughtlessly said Hisoka’s name just then, to no one.
All alone in his room, with nothing but Hisoka’s name in the dark.
Hisoka.
Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka.
Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka. Hisoka.
Illumi is very agitated. His nails pull apart the fabric of his bedsheets while he tries to clear his mind.
Hisoka’s voice is already gone from his memory again. His face is a blur of features he remembers so well, but can’t piece together anymore.
He needs to delete Hisoka’s contact from his phone.
Illumi stands up and snatches his phone off the nightstand.
He opens his phone, and in his frenzy to get to the [Delete Contact] option, opens up their shared attachments instead. The gallery is of a lot of mundane things, but the last photo that Hisoka sent was a selfie.
“.................................”
Illumi stares at it, and his angry shaking slows into nervous trembling.
He taps the photo to open it, and Hisoka’s face greets him.
His eyes are bright and shiny. His smile is as cheeky and smug as always. His makeup is perfectly done. His outfit is showy. His pose is over-exaggerated and stupid, as if he needs to show off to someone who knows his body so well.
Illumi’s hands begin to tremble much harder, even harder than when he was angry.
His throat feels like it is closing, and his jaw shakes. Aura begins to seep upwards around him, and his hair starts to lift with it.
Illumi grips his phone hard enough to crack the screen, but the photo remains visible.
“Is it Nen?”
Illumi tries to rationalize his reaction while he stares at the photo. He is shaking harder and harder, and makes a miserable expression.
“Did you use a Nen ability that would make me…”
Illumi slips onto his knees, still staring at his phone screen. “...react like this…” A burning sensation fills his eyes, making them go wild. His dark aura fills the room to every corner. “Hisoka…”
(A pan-out to Kukuru Mountain, where a vortex of aura is visible from the Zoldyck estate.)
Silva and Zeno burst into Illumi’s room, with Kikyo close behind.
“Illumi–!” “Illumi, what is–” “!!”
Illumi raises his head to look at them, but his face is out of view. All are shocked by his appearance.
(Some time later)
Illumi wakes up in the Zoldyck’s medical room. His eyes are dark, he looks very tired.
“Ah, Master Illumi, you’re awake…”
Illumi looks to see one of the butlers nearby. He is aware now that he is in the medical ward.
Illumi sits up with a tired expression. His upset is gone now, and his chest feels hollow instead.
“Master Illumi, are you alright to move?” “I’m fine.”
Illumi makes his way through the manor toward his room.
“I was thinking erratically, before.”
“A Nen ability…”
“It has nothing to do with Nen.”
Illumi comes across his father in a hallway, and pauses to address him. Silva speaks to him cautiously.
“You’ve recuperated.”
Illumi answers slowly. “Yes.”
“...”
Silva hesitates to bring up Illumi’s outburst. He chooses his words carefully.
“You worried your mother.”
“I apologize. It won’t happen again.” “I will speak to Mother as well.”
Illumi replies, and continues slowly to his room. Silva watches after him over his shoulder.
“To see a Zoldyck in such a state…”
Silva recalls the night of Illumi’s outburst.
Illumi was on his knees. His hair was whirling around in his thick aura cloud. He was clutching his phone in his claws hard enough that pieces were falling off. Illumi stared up at them with a pained and confused expression. Tears drenched his face from his bottom lids down to his chin, and even down his neck.
“...is disconcerting.”
Illumi enters his room, and sees that it has been repaired of all damages. A new phone is on his desk, with a note from the butlers.
(“We have provided a new phone for you, as your previous had irreparable damage to it. Your SIM card was inserted, and all contacts and data have been successfully restored.”)
“Oh… I must have crushed it.”
“The contacts are still there.”
“...good…”
Illumi picks it up, and goes to his contact list right away. His face saddens when he sees Hisoka’s name this time.
He opens their chat again and goes to sit on his bed.
Illumi slowly scrolls through more of their messages.
(Previews:)
[[ Sent: 4:13 pm // I’ll attach further details. ]] [[ Sent: 4:15 pm // View 1 Attachment ]] [[ Sent: 10:45 pm // Fufufu~ That was fun! ♦ ]] [[ Sent: 10:46 pm // I love playing with you~ ]] – [[ Sent: 5:25 am // Call me anytime.♡ ]] [[ Sent: 5:30 am // I will. ]] [[ Sent: 5:31 am // Ohh~ You excite me! ♡♡♡ ]] [[ Read 5:45 PM ✔️ ]] – [[ Sent: 11:00 pm // You won’t come with me? ♠ ]] [[ Sent: 11:10 pm // Why would I? ]] [[ Sent: 11:15 pm // Because I miss you, Illu~ ]] [[ Sent: 11:30 pm // Don’t you ever miss me too? ♡ ]]
(Emphasis on the last text: [[ Don’t you ever miss me too? ♡ ]] )
Illumi frown deepens the more he reads.
“Hisoka is dead.” “He is only alive… in these messages.”
Illumi slides to their attachments. He stares at the same picture of Hisoka as before, but his expression remains the same. Illumi opens a different photo, one Hisoka took with him while he was sleeping.
“I guess… the answer is...”
Illumi scrolls through more photos of Hisoka, and of Hisoka and himself.
“...yes…”
Illumi returns to their messages, and scrolls to the bottom. He taps into the new message field, and types out;
[[ I miss you. ]]
Hisoka is high atop a building, squatting from his vantage point while he tracks his prey. His thumb and index are circled into a make-shift scope while he looks around.
“Where are you~?”
Hisoka smiles.
“Ah, there you are. ♣”
Hisoka’s phone buzzes in his pocket, and he looks toward it curiously.
He lifts his phone up into view, and sees it’s a notification from Illumi.
“Oh! Illumi.”
Hisoka smiles to himself.
“I guess it has been a few months now.” “I wonder if he figured out that I resuscitated myself? Fufufu…♦”
He presses the “view text” drop down on the notification, so as to not trigger the “Read” response.
[[ I miss you. ]]
“...”
Hisoka stares wordlessly.
“???”
[[ I miss you… very much. ]]
“... E… Eh??”
Hisoka is baffled by what he’s reading. Another text comes in.
[[ I dream about you. ]]
“???”
[[ It’s awful. ]]
“EH??? ILLUMI??”
Hisoka covers his face, partially out of embarrassment. He cannot believe that Illumi Zoldyck is sending him remorseful post-mortem love notes.
“HE… STILL BELIEVES I'VE DIED...”
(A few days pass)
Illumi has taken comfort in texting Hisoka’s number when his loneliness becomes distracting.
It is a satisfactory outlet, and he’s almost forgotten that Hisoka is not on the other end of the chat. It’s easy to imagine him out in the world somewhere, and that he just hasn’t texted him back yet.
Illumi has just finished a job at a casino's hotel penthouse. The targets were all playing poker there, and there are playing cards scattered among the blood and gore.
Illumi stares at an ace with blood smeared on it. He leans down to pick it up, and turns it over while he inspects it.
Illumi smiles a very faint, fond smile.
He takes a pack off the table with him when he leaves.
As he returns to his hotel room, he texts Hisoka.
[[ You would have liked this job. It was at a casino. ]]
Illumi enters his hotel room to shower and eat. Afterward, he spends some time playing with the deck of cards he took, then turns in for bed.
When he goes to set an alarm, he sees a notification on his screen.
[[ Oh, that does sound like fun~♦ ]] [[ You should have invited me.♡ ]]
“.................”
“...........................................”
Illumi IMMEDIATELY calls Hisoka’s number.
After a few rings, someone answers.
“Moshi moshiiii?”
Illumi recognizes the voice as Hisoka’s but he knows that Hisoka is dead, so it’s not him.
“ Who is this? ”
“Uwa~ah, so scary! Your aura is seeping through the phone, Illu-chan~ ♣ ”
“ WHO. IS. THIS? ”
“It’s only been three months, Illumi! Have you already forgotten the sound of my voice?” “It’s me, of course.♡ ”
“ Hisoka is dead. ”
“Yes, I know~” “But it’s still me.”
Hisoka is in a private cabin on an airship. He lounges across the bench more comfortably as he talks.
“Are you near York New city? We could meet up if you don’t believe me.”
“I’ll kill you.”
Illumi is positive this is an imposter.
“Fufufu~ So soon? I just came back to life!”
“ Dayroad Park. ”
“Hmm. I think I can make it there in two hours.” “Can you wait that long?”
“Turn on your location.” “I will kill you once I find you.”
“Hnnn…♡ ” “I can’t say no when you talk like that.♡ ”
(Two hours later, in Dayroad Park)
Illumi is standing alone in the dim light. His aura has scared off any wildlife in the area, making it exceedingly quiet. Illumi’s phone says that the location of Hisoka’s phone is nearby.
He begins walking that way.
“I don’t sense any aura in this direction.” “He’s hiding his presence.”
Very irritating.
The sound of grass rustling under footsteps immediately has his attention. Illumi stares into the dark treeline, and slowly, Hisoka’s figure appears from the shadows.
Illumi’s hair begins to waft with rage. Hisoka smiles.
“Good evening, Illumi.”
This person sounds just like Hisoka. This person looks just like Hisoka. But that is impossible, because Hisoka is dead.
“ To toy with a Zoldyck is to incite death. ”
“Hu? But you’re my favorite out of all my toys~”
Illumi sneers and crouches to lunge.
“Ah! Don’t be upset, Illumi.”
Illumi hates how his name sounds in Hisoka’s voice.
“I got your texts. That you miss me, that you dream of me…” “They were very embarrassing to read. ♠”
“ Shut up! ”
Illumi lunges at Hisoka, but Hisoka swiftly dodges, as if dancing.
“I didn’t think my death would kindle such intense feelings from you.” “If I did, I would have told you about my revival sooner.”
“Revival?”
Illumi glowers at Hisoka, who smiles wide.
“Yes. My Bungee Gum is very handy like that. ♣” “I was lucky your finishing blow stopped my heart, but didn’t destroy it.”
Hisoka posterizes with his hands like a showman.
Illumi’s demeanor relaxes, if only slightly. It is possible, but he has many doubts.
“...”
“...”
“You don’t believe me? ♠”
Illumi stares at Hisoka, and Hisoka shrugs with a grin.
Hisoka flicks a finger at Illumi, and sticks a string of Bungee Gum to his chest. With a quick curl of his knuckle, he tugs on Illumi enough to make him stagger forward.
Illumi’s eyes widen in shock as Hisoka’s signature pink aura bubbles up around himself.
“That aura is…”
“Is that convincing enough? ♡ ”
“...it’s…” “...unmistakable.”
Illumi’s aura drops its malice, but it quickly boils back up in desperation.
“Aura cannot be recreated or mimicked that way...”
“So…”
“...”
“...He…”
Illumi lunges toward Hisoka again in a mad dash, eyes wide.
Hisoka is shocked by the speed, and cannot dodge or parry such a swift attack. He can do nothing but brace his feet with Bungee Gum to withstand the impact.
Illumi slams into him in a tight embrace, and his claws cut slits into the back of Hisoka’s shirt as he holds him as tight as possible.
Hisoka recovers from the initial shock, and moves his attention to Illumi’s head.
Upon seeing he is not under attack, aside from the nails piercing the skin of his back, Hisoka slowly smiles. He watches Illumi with interest as he clings to him.
“Ohh~ My Illu~♡♡♡”
Hisoka circles his arms around Illumi and sways him into a proper hug to tease him.
“Don’t be upset~ Everything’s alright.♡”
Illumi won’t lift his face from Hisoka’s shoulder, but has a neutral expression outside of Hisoka’s view. He is silent and unmoving, aside from holding onto Hisoka tightly.
“...”
“Ah… Illumi?”
Illumi’s lack of response is not completely surprising, but Hisoka expected at least a little more excitement after Illumi was apparently so upset over his death.
The strength in Illumi’s hold doubles, making Hisoka choke.
Illumi still says nothing, and increases his grip until Hisoka is squirming. Hisoka thinks that he must be punishing him for stringing his feelings along.
Illumi rests his temple blissfully against Hisoka’s collar, unbothered by his squirming.
He sighs.

The heavenly yard blog infomine, part 7: More Albums and Events, Collaborations, Cloture of Yellow, then, a Break! (to do more work)
Mothy is pretty busy in this set, primarily working on making his songs and videos as well as attending events, so we don't get as much concept and idea discussion, but we do finally get him releasing Cloture of Yellow!
4 March 2010 ~ 26 August 2010
---March 2010---
4th
-mothy announces that he'll be uploading "Last Revolver" to NicoNico.
8th
-mothy releases Last Revolver to NicoNico. He talks about it a little bit--he actually made the song in September of last year, but it was much longer than even Moonlit Bear at the time so he's spent a lot of time cutting the song down to size.
-Naturally, Ichika did all the work on the PV this time around.
18th
-mothy announces his participation in VOCALOID PARADISE 3. He's going to be selling Prelude to Forest there.
-he's also working on a new album that'll have his recent song releases on it.
---April 2010---
6th
-mothy thanks everyone who came to the VOCALOID PARADISE event (apparently it was his first Kansai event)
-mothy will be releasing his new album, Evils Forest, at the next event.
-He also announces that he'll be releasing a new song, "Wendy" for the "Haiten Girl 2" CD.
10th
-The Daughter of Evil musical performs tomorrow. The Classical version of Servant of Evil has also released.
20th
-mothy makes the official announcement that he's going to VOCALOID MASTER 12 alongside twinkledisc (SignalP's doujin thingy). He'll be selling Evils Forest there. He makes clear that some of the new album songs will also get videos in the future, as well as the fact that the album booklet itself will have more content than his previous album releases.
25th
-mothy's going to have Regret Message on the VOCALOGENESIS album.
-He answers one or two questions about the distribution of his new album.
26th
-mothy uploads the video for Heartbeat Clocktower onto NicoNico (and specifies it's a re-arrangement of the one he uploaded onto Piapro before).
---May 2010---
8th
-Tomorrow is VOCALOID MASTER 12. Mothy will be in the same space as Twinkledisc, and he'll be selling content alongside SignalP, Ichika, and Tamura. He lists off a few behavioral requests for anyone going to attend (ex, don't take photos of the booth) and a few other minor things people can expect.
-He thanks people for watching Heartbeat Clocktower.
-Someone asks him if he really intends to retire after the Seven Deadly Sins series is finished. Mothy is just "what lol I didn't say that" (this is HILARIOUS).
10th
-VOCALOID MASTER 12 is over. Mothy's been getting so much attention he's had trouble responding to everyone, so he's sorry about that. He's also selling Evils Forest on consignment at D-Stage now.
-He can't give a lot of details yet but he's gonna be hard at work on the series still.
25th
-he talks a bit about the VOCALOGENESIS album. Someone's made an MMD for all the songs on it, including Regret Message, and the album has also topped the charts at Oricon.
-That doesn't mean he's a millionaire or anything. He doesn't even have a girlfriend!
-He's got some work he'd trying to finish by the end of May, and hopes to start making videos in June.
---June 2010---
8th
-mothy announces he'll be at VOCALOID MASTER 13 (this time by himself it looks like). He doesn't have anything new to release there, but he does intend to have something for Comiket later on down the line.
-Unfortunately, despite lots of requests he isn't going to be reprinting Evils Theater. It's all available for digital purchase still, but as an independent producer it's a bit complicated for him to get another physical run of an album that's a year old by now.
---July 2010---
7th
-mothy's going to be participating in the Supernova 3 album with his new song Desert Bluebird (which he intends to upload a video of very soon)
9th
-mothy uploads Desert Bluebird's PV.
17th
-mothy thanks everyone for watching Desert Bluebird. He's switching to a new video editing software, so he's hoping to make more dynamic videos with it. However, it apparently makes the video quality unnecessarily high, so he's concerned some people might not be able to play them. He'll work on fixing that.
-He says the song is inspired by the "Blue Bird" fairytale (I'm not familiar with it but it looks like it might be a French story?), and has some influence from a Wii game he was playing before making it (some kind of…tank RPG??? I think?). He likes the change of pace, making more of a Sci Fi after so many Medieval style songs.
18th
-Tomorrow is VOCALOID MASTER 13. He gives a brief rundown of what he's selling there (again, nothing new). He doesn't expect it to be as crowded, but he'll also be there by himself so he might be busy anyway.
20th
-Mothy thanks everyone for coming to the event, shares his impressions of it a little.
-He makes oblique hints at a book (and I think we all know which one) which has gotten pre-orders on Amazon, but he can't give details just yet.
-Unfortunately he doesn't know what's going on with the Gemini CD for the stage play.
-He doesn't have time to make a new album for summer Comiket, but he will be selling some CD-Rs that he'll be burning himself.
-He'll be uploading videos for Lunacy of Duke Venomania and Twiright Prank very soon.
25th
-mothy gives official upload dates for Lunacy and Prank.
26th
-Lunacy has been uploaded to NicoNico!
29th
-Mothy finally announces his new novel, Cloture of Yellow!!!! Oh, also Venomania's hit 100000 views. He'll talk about it some other time.
-He includes the publisher summary of the book, as well as purchase details (again, it was already getting pre-ordered on Amazon). There is a fanbooklet that's included with purchase at select locations.
31st
-mothy finally talks about his new novel in more detail. He answers questions first, such as where it'll be sold, the format it's written in, if it's a standalone (he says he wants to make a sequel but it depends on how well this one sells), what's in the booklet (mostly creator commentary stuff--I don't think there's anything that isn't included with the VG re-release), etc.
-He talks about the contents a little, clarifying that while it is based on the simple plot he provided for the writers of the stage play, it's different in a lot of ways (such as character names). He's added a lot of things and characters that never showed up in the songs. However, despite all the changes, it does still adhere to the plot of the songs--nothing outright contradicts the earlier work, that is.
---August 2010---
1st
-mothy is going to be participating in the DEBUTANTE5 album with his new song "Flames of Yellow Phosphorous". The song is a collaboration with JounetsuP--apparently they've been wanting to collaborate for a long time now.
-He answers questions. He won't be selling the novel at Comiket since it's an officially published work, so that'll still be Evils Forest and the hand-made CD.
-Also apparently there are some issues with the Daughter of Evil pinups included in Cloture of Yellow? But it won't delay the novel's release or anything.
3rd Page 1
-Twiright Prank has been released on NicoNico!
Page 2
-mothy confirms that the pinup issue has been sorted out and there will be no complications with Cloture's release. I guess there was some kind of copyright dispute? In any case it's been taken care of.
Page 3
-Evil Food Eater Conchita will be released on the VOCALOANTHEMS CD by Exit Tunes. Apparently Exit Tunes will have done a lot of remastering for the VOCALOID parts of the song, so mothy's not sure how it will sound by comparison. Additionally, another, separate remastering of Conchita's song will be on the hand-made CD that mothy is releasing at Comiket (I think this is the Evil Food Eater Conchita CD).
5th
-mothy talks about the novel some more. More sales info, and then contents (primarily the characters this time around). He gives a basic rundown of who everyone is, with name and place in the story. No spoilers. He does note that Elluka might seem a bit of a forced entry, but that's because they weren't selling Elluka at the time the original song came out. He goes on to list Gumillia, Gast, and Keel as additions to the story that hadn't debuted elsewhere, and he applied VOCALOIDS onto them retroactively (so--they might not have originally been the VOCALOID that he turned them into, but their characters already existed previously).
6th Page 1
-Evils Forest will be available online on KarenT
Page 2
-Cloture of Yellow now has its own website (the site has since folded, unfortunately)
7th
-mothy gives some more information on promotional events and goodies for the book, though he reminds people that this is just his personal blog and so it might be better to ask questions to his publisher or the retailer they're planning to buy from, as he doesn't know everything.
9th
-More info on Summer Comiket. He is indeed going to be selling the Evil Food Eater revision CD (which has Evil Food Eater with Meiko's vocals revised as well as any other songs that are not on his other albums), as well as Evils Forest.
-These include the old Clockwork Lullaby demo he made with Len instead of Rin.
-Debutante5 is also being sold there, but not by him.
10th
-Cloture of Yellow releases today!
-mothy answers some questions on Venomania and Twiright Prank. Apparently some people recognized a sound effect at the beginning of Venomania from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni--this is news to him, as he hasn't played Umineko and just took the sound from a collection of free sound effects.
-He confirms that Twiright is deliberately mispelled for reasons of having a double meaning. 1. "Twi"=twist "right"=correct, normal, etc. 2. R=Rin, L=Len, and it was Len that shared his snack, not Rin.
12th
-Flames of Yellow Phosphorous has been uploaded to NicoNico.
16th
-Summer Comiket wrapup. Mothy thanks everyone for attending. He ran out of the Conchita CDs really quickly, so apologizes for that. Apparently due to the logistical issues in making them, he doesn't intend to do any more hand-burned CDs. He doesn't intend to make more of those CDs, but he'll come up with a way for people to get the music on it some other way.
-mothy also intends to take a break from attending events as a producer for the time being. He was so busy with the events and writing the novel that he ran out of songs to upload. He wants to shut himself up and take a good look at how he's going to work on his projects going forward. Though, he'll probably still go to events as a member of the general public.
-…That being said, he is participating in the ECHO charity CD. Despite the uplifting theme of the charity, his song is going to be depressing, apparently.
17th
-Servant of Evil has hit 2 million views!
20th
-Daughter of White has hit 50000 views!
26th
-Little announcements. Riliane and Allen are getting their own avatars with the online game TinierMe, Dwango is releasing Evils Forest ringtones, and the Vocaloanthems crossfade has been released (the revised Evil Food Eater Conchita is on it).

LGBTQ Manga Review - X-Gender Volume 1
A challenging, complex, and intimate account of exploration outside the gender binary
Tumblr media
Autobiographical manga is astounding. Putting pen to paper and bearing the intimate details of one’s life is petrifying. And it is hard enough in prose, but the visual medium of manga adds another layer of complexity and exposure. I am so attracted to autobiographical essays for that reason, the experience of sharing in another’s struggles or understandings, whether I can empathize with them or not. As these works often catalog the lives of those living in marginalized or underrepresented communities, it is natural that LGBTQ+ life and identity would find a home within the genre.
These works are surprisingly varied. Many feature jubilant queer people celebrating their journey, like The Bride was a Boy, or a blissful account of sapphic cohabitation, such as Kyou mo Hitotsu Yane no Shita (which is desperately hope gets licensed). However, I gravitate towards those that depict more tragic circumstances, like My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness which offers an unadulterated and cutting view of the author’s struggles with queer identity and mental illness. X-Gender by Asuka Miyazaki falls into the latter category.
Tumblr media
Warning X-Gender and this review contain adult themes, situations, and imagery that may be inappropriate or upsetting for some readers.
X-Gender follows the author, a 33-year-old person who, as the manga’s title implies, identifies as X-gender (a genderqueer identity that is essentially the Japanese equivalent of non-binary). At the start of the series, Miyazaki’s dearest friend, K, who they were clearly in love with, gets married and has a baby. Miyazaki has a complex attachment to K, and the sudden feelings of abandonment and befuddlement resulting from their shattered perception of K lead to a breakdown. In the midst of it, Miyazaki swears to find a woman and prove they can be happy too.
Tumblr media
The introductory chapter introduces this catalysis that launches Miyazaki on their journey. The rest of the volume is a snapshot of different dating events and formative encounters with other queer people. These stories are often disjointed, save occasional references to the first two chapters. Thus, it is difficult to place events in context, which, to be fair, is not required of the autobiography, which exceptional recounts the author’s journey regardless. However, the structure irritatingly contrasts the framing devices used at the onset and conclusion of the volume. The experience is akin to reading the first and last page of a diary and a smattering of consequential entries in between.
These structural inconsistencies are a relatively minor flaw, thanks to the strength of the majority of chapters. Unfortunately, there are a few glaring defects. In the middle of the manga, there is effectively a one-page advertisement for the author’s other autobiography about their experience with OCD. And the tenth chapter is an incredibly irrelevant summary of Class-S literature (the genre from which modern Yuri evolved) and a doujin that reimagines the Little Mermaid as an S story. I personally would have loved this section (save the ghastly, neck-craning paragraphs of commentary crammed sideways into the margins) if it existed in isolation. Yet, such niche cultural references have no place in this manga. Thankfully, the manga's moving storytelling and vulnerable narrator more than eclipse this blunder.
Tumblr media
X-Gender’s depictions of group dates and encounters with other LGBTQ+ people are lovely. Miyazaki masterfully integrates their own thoughts and narration into their accounts, with clever, quick cutaways and side stories to punctuate their point and contextualize their reasoning. These personal details synergize incredibly with the revelations Miyazaki comes to during each event.
Throughout X-Gender, Miyazaki and we learn about their own preferences and biases, for example, that they dislike flashy nails and smokers but enjoy fellow otaku and those that share their morose side. One of the comedic highpoints of the manga comes when Miyazaki realizes that their biggest deal-breaker is “a person with a positive outlook on life.” Like many of the jokes, it is tarnished by more tragic elements, in this case, Miyazaki continues to harbor feelings exclusively for K. These scenes create a well-rounded view of whom Miyazaki is as a person.
Tumblr media
After reading, I genuinely feel that I understand the superficial details that make them unique: their sense of humor, tastes, and a keen eye for fashion. Given the short length of a single manga volume and the series focus on Miyazaki’s more intimate experiences, the fact that I feel as knowledgeable as an old friend is a testament to the strength of their voice on every single page.
A massive factor in Miyazaki’s incredible presence is their honesty. And while that trait serves them well in the more personal accounts, more on that in a moment, it also reveals some rougher edges. Miyazaki gives several comments which could be construed as ignorant at best and prejudicial at worst. For example, they make an overly generalized statement that women do not like dirty jokes. Furthermore, during one of the meetups, they discount the idea of dating a woman in her early twenties, saying that many women are interested in other women when they are younger but then get a boyfriend and start thinking about marriage.
In Miyazaki’s defense, their past with K informed these ideas. Furthermore, there are lingering ideas of transitory lesbianism in many cultures, and while many, especially those in the queer community, have evolved from these misconceptions, their damaging legacy lingers. Ultimately, I feel like I can give Miyazaki the benefit of the doubt as they are open about the fact that they are still learning and express enthusiasm for both learning from those of different minorities and challenging their own position. Still, these facts do not diminish the harmful impact of previously described dismissive and false statements.
Tumblr media
Few works can so effectively ignite and educate diverse audiences of outsiders, newcomers, and longtime veterans of queerness alike
Moving on, both during and between the dating events, Miyazaki recounts frequent conversations with other LGBTQ+ people. Many of these conversations and Miyazaki’s narration of their identity prelude more educational panels and pages that describe various aspects of LGBTQ+ life and identity. These range from lessons aimed at beginners, like defining different gender identities and sexualities, to the advanced content covering the terminology in lesbian relationships and the physical changes one may experience during hormone therapy.
No matter how niche these lessons get, Miyazaki breaks each down wonderfully, with clear explanations that are approachable yet still convey an astounding amount of nuance and detail required by intersectional conversations. The illustrations in these sections are the best in the volume, supplementing each point in an engaging and informative manner. It is worth noting that X-Gender was serialized in a Kodansha’s seinen Young Magazine the 3rd and may well have been one of many readers’ first formal educational exposures to queerness. For that, I commend both the manga and its creator.
Tumblr media
However, Miyazaki’s most impactful moments are in the brilliant ways they describe their complex experiences with gender and sexuality. As an autobiography, X-Gender focuses on their relationship to the events within, which deftly convey their emotions, assisted by excellent visuals. It is a strange blend of forlorn sympathetic content, oddly humorous expressions, and quirky yet revealing expulsions- “Won’t somebody lend me a dick?” But, the impact is tremendous whichever way they communicate these exceptionally intimate feelings.
Tumblr media
And Miyazaki’s willingness to discuss these often taboo topics, such as menstruation and pornography, in such a personal way establishes a profound connection to the author. X-Gender presents these topics and exposes their struggles with such earnestness that we share in their experiences. One feels Miyazaki's anxiety for their first meet-up event, sympathizes with their dysphoria, and shares the incongruous feelings they grapple with as the X-gender person attempts to find a place in lesbian spaces. Few works can so effectively ignite and educate diverse audiences of outsiders, newcomers, and longtime veterans of queerness alike.
In X-Gender, Miyazaki exposes themselves, creating a calculated discomfort that allows their unique blend of resonating storytelling and offbeat humor to land with precision. The manga is a balance of informative lessons on LGBTQ+ identity and admission of ignorance as it explores the topic alongside readers, falling at times but never wavering in its honesty. While the information and feelings the manga presents are incredibly accessible, it does not hold readers' hands but challenges them, relying on their strength to carry them through as Miyazaki courageously bares their soul and constructs a fragile scaffolding for a mightly fortress of empathy. If you are up to this daunting task, I assure you X-Gender is a manga worth reading.

Hi! Ok honestly I was going to find a more proper way to phrase this but can we just talk about Nagareboshi Kirari for a minute, and how it is 100% a love song from the perspective of Killua to Gon. I don’t see many people talking about it and it gets glossed over compared to some of the other endings but honestly it’s always been my favourite. The fact that nearly every single line is a direct reference to something Killua has been through with Gon is crazy, and with the “shooting star” references and implications, I don’t think it’s crazy to say that YUZU interpreted the manga the same way most of us shippers do, especially CAA. Idk, maybe I’m just crazy but this is something I’m almost 100% convinced of (like a lot of Killugon stuff in HxH I guess ha ha) but what are your thoughts?
Sorry for taking a bit to reply, I wanted to reply thoughtfully!
I definitely agree with you! I've read before that Yuzu re-read the entire manga before writing the songs they did for HxH, and also that they're big fans of the series to begin with, so I think it's fair to say that they wrote the songs they did with intention. Also, multiple people have pointed out that Nagareboshi Kirari uses wedding bells in it, which I mean, enough said. As big fans of the series, it would make sense that they see the (pretty clear) implications with Killua's feelings and they would include that in a song made for the series.
@hunterxhell also shared another song that Yuzu wrote around the same time period that may have been used for HxH if things had gone differently (I agree with this conclusion, it's too coincidental otherwise with the lyrics), and some other songs that they may have written with HxH in mind.
Honestly, the 2011 production is riddled with staff who have made romantic implications between Gon and Killua--from the director saying they're like a mature married couple, to Mariya Ise saying outright and extremely clearly that she thinks Killua is in love with Gon, Niuya, one of the animators for HxH 2011 would post KilluGon fanart on Twitter while it was airing (and published a doujin with shippy drawings included), and so on. Not to mention things like the Huncyclopedia kiss, ai-ai gasa, the episode previews during Chimera Ant arc, and more. These are all additions that didn't need to happen, they just as easily could have not included them. But they did!
The people who worked on the anime certainly studied the manga carefully--it's simply a big part of the process of adapting a manga to an anime, and especially with how faithful 2011 is to the manga (*overall, with some exceptions :p). I don't think it's a coincidence at all that many people looking at this manga carefully came to this conclusion. It's the same conclusion I've come to as well after years of carefully studying it and reading about Togashi and his inspirations/interviews/etc. The subtext is strong and clear and all over the place once you start looking for it, and a good portion of it isn't even subtext but just...text.
Anyway, I got on a bit of a tangent, but YES, I definitely think it's intentional and I absolutely think Yuzu wrote it with Killua's feelings in mind!

Big Celestia/Chihiro/Celeshiro headcanon post:
Wanted to compile a bunch of my headcanons here:
Celeste:
Starts off cold towards the class as in canon, but warms up to them. Becomes fiercly protective of them since they'rw her only friends
If she catches people bullying Toko, Chihiro, Taka, Hifumi, Makoto, etc she will retaliate
Is trying to come off super cool but is actually incredibly awkward. Most of the class still think she is cool after bedriending her
Extremely eager to show off her knowledge about her interests. Will just infodump on whoever is willing to listen.
Cries a lot in secret
Very insecure about her body and appearance
Also insecure about her interests that aren't gambling and European culture. Only Chihiro, Hifumi, Makoto, and Kyoko know she's into things like manga and video games. The rest suspect she's secretly a nerd.
Speaking of also prone to gamer rage and she's very thankful the dorms are sound proof
Secretly a My Little Pony fan. Only Chihiro knows because they made a joke while they were hanging out once about her name and noticed her panic. She took her first name from Princess Celestia. Also why she calls the others darling after befriending them.
If Byakuya's not around she'll be one of the first to offer to pay. She is bad at showing how much she values the others so she compensates with paying for meals or tickets to places
Basically kind of a bitchy Rarity once she has gotten over herself and connected with everyone.
Sews her own clothes, and eventually starts making clothes for the others with a discount on comissions
Gets roped into the obligatory D&D episode by Hifumi
Comes from a family that lived in poverty, got bullied as a kid as a result
Part of the bullying was being called a loser over and over again
Why she ends up being one of the first to stick up for the others
Has learned some self-defense to protect herself since she spends a lot of time illegally gambling
While she does drop more and more of her persona as time goes on, and is more authentic with everyone she still prefers the Celestia name and fancy clothing. They help her feel comfortable in her own skin.
She's only really comfortable using Taeko with the rest of Class 78, and even then not when they're out in public
Absolutely unable to cook well
Will start arguments with Byakuya, Leon, and/or Mondo for the fun of it.
Her and Makoto kinda confide in each other about how they feel like fakes next to everyone else.
She has read every single one of Toko"s books multiple times.
Ocassionally she will correct Hifumi when he gets something wrong about an anime and whistle innocently when people are stunned she knew that.
Makes the time to go to events the others are doing like Sayaka's concerts or Hina's swim meets.
Once she went with Hifumi to help sell his doujins. Ended up with Hifumi punching a guy in the face for creeping on her.
Sakura and Mondo also worry about her going to seedy parts of town to gamble and have discreetly followed her to make sure she's safe
She enjoys challenging Kyoko to various cars games
She also ends up enjoying discussing history with Taka
While at first she really hated Yasuhiro she did end up finding he could have surprisingly good advice from time to time.
Chihiro:
Trans girl. I accept any hcs on their gender. For me personally I just see them as a trans girl who compensated by trying to fit into a mold of manliness before realizing and accepting her identity.
She still likes to work out and try to get stronger.
Into making mods for video games
Has been into just about every embarassing fandom at one point or another. Superwholock, Homestuck, Undeetale, MLP, Steven Universe. She was overjoyed when she found out Celeste was too.
She will also haplily offer to pay for the others when Byakuya's not around. Her programming skills have made her a good amount of money, placing her just behind Celeste's wealth and 3rd highest overall
Also can not cook at all
Has a terrible sleep schedule, will need coffee as soon as she wakes up
While she identifies she/her she still doesn't have many feminine typical interests beyond the clothing.
Bottles up frustrations and anger, lets it out online in arguments.
Genuinely admires all of her classmates
Besides Makoto she is the most popular person in her class
Cries a lot too, but openly
She has written a program for each classmate that helps with their talent in some way
Celeshiro:
They kept it a secret for a long time
While keeping it a secret everyone thought they were just crushing on each other and kept trying to get them together
They kept playing it off pretending not to get it
Kyoko knew from the start
When they finally let the others know it was after they had an argument that was their first big argument.
They like spending a lot of time together in their dorms watching movies/tv, playing games together, being affectionate, and talking a lot
Because they both have a lot of hang ups they end up comforting one another a lot.
Said this before but Celeste ended up trauma dumping on the first date.
Celeste also had a panic attack prior to the date
In general even though it seems like Celeste is the cool mature one, Chihiro is the one that's more mature
Chihiro is drawn to Celeste because she thinks she is cool, that she is protective, and admires her willpower
Celeste is drawn to Chihiro because she loves her optimisim and friendliness. That she is not judgmental, and is always willing to listen to her ramblings
After they reveal their relationship they get a lot more affectionate in public
Chihiro also basically moves into Celeste's room.
Because Celeste forgets to lock her door a lot, they have been walked in on by every single one of their classmates at least once
They get married pretty quickly after graduating
While they don't really want to have kids the old fashioned way, they do get very adoption happy and they tend to spoil the kids. They might even run a foster home
Among them is Kokichi who Celeste likes to playfully have compete against Kyoko's protege Shuichi
Kyoko nor Chihiro even realize there's supposed to be a rivalry going on
Chihiro and Celeste are very cuddly. They find it difficult to get to sleep without touching the other in some way
Celeste makes Chihiro clothes for free
Because neither of them can cook they order take out a lot.

So I've been reading opinions here and there about why there's differences in 2 shipping name for satosugu and why it seems pretty clearcut and important for this fandom and then saw your post saying the eastern fandom seems to lean more goge while western is more gego. I've read that the purpose is usually to define/tag who top/bottom if it's nsfw works and if it's not nsfw then it's to depict the dynamic (which perspectives about said dynamic vary from one fan to another). I'd even seen opinions that pointed out Mappa is prolly pushing more gego than goge just because they made Gojo lankier and prettier like ?? I'm not trying to start anything here because it all comes down to personal preferences and everyone is entitled to their opinions but to me that sounds quite traditional? Typical? Man...as someone who came from the west side then I'd say the eastern side got nicer taste! I like the top to be lankier, have pretty eyelashes, cheerful, and more childish lol. Not to mention buff, meatier bottom who is tall, dark, handsome, speaks less and has more mature personality of the two is all in the rage nowadays (more and more famous BL works recently are featuring those dynamics more). It's a bit of a bummer for me since satosugu is something we can experience fully through fanworks and as someone who only knows English, there are indeed more works for gego in English (at least from what I've seen by filtering tags for fanfics). So I really appreciate goge artists like you who made it available in English 🙏. I shud hurry up and make pixiv acc even though I would solely depend on AI translator to understand the fanfics and doujinshis there 😂
Yes I mean, I feel mappa satisfy both sides like in last episode (was the drool really needed?!?? That was made for us 😭). Even if they indeed made gojo a lanky teen I mean he kinda is in the manga too hahaa even if I like to give them both a nice built it doesn't bother me much. I do appreciate they dud make now adult Gojo look a big bigger on the shoulders specially so I just hope they deliver good post sealing Gojo when he gets out 🥹 cause that gojo is my fav version of him now.
I do still think stsg could be very versatile and it works for everyone's taste I'm just very leaning into goge now to ever go back haha but I can understand why people enjoy they other way too.

the recent discourse re:yuri is so curious to me. my two cents is that some of it can be attributed to the very well researched book on yuri history by erica friedman that came out a couple years back which made the seemingly legit claim that the genre started with women authors. of course the whole picture is more fraught than the viral posts i see on this paint it. and the book itself has a long section on The Bad Parts of yuri. but the quotes i see people use and word of mouth fail to mention that part. i can kind of get the defensiveness bc yuri is so often dismissed as a genre JUST for the tillitation of men in a way that really erases the quite large subculture of lesbian/bi otaku and the women writers themselves. which tbf is often the case with a lot of these subcultures (sooo much "moe" was/is written by women but was imediately dismissed as a dude thing. this kind of radicalized me as a teen.). all of that being said there WAS an interesting shift these last few years on the stories being told and how they are told (maybe because of the critical/comercial success of kabi nagata's memoirs and of series like kase-san and yagakimi? the overall evolving discourse about lgbt people on the public sphere? the uptick in openly queer women writing independent webcomics? none of these? all of these and more? shrugs). i've been reading unhinged gay manga in dynastyscans for like, a decade by now. and it's become increasingly more common for them to feature adult women, people actually saying the word "lesbian", lesbian bars even. it still surprises me constantly. comic yuri hime actually split itself in two (the idea is that the core mag is for women and the other is for men. fostering this idea of yuri by women to women). even the kirara magazine started including a lot of yuribait in its publications. which is a different beast entirely but is amusing enough that it makes me go "okay who is this FOR? yuribros? just to snatch the stray lesbian reader?". sorry for the long message i am just fascinated by all of this.

no worries at all this is actually extremely interesting thank you so much for all these extra details yeah i have been curious about like general demographic surveys or such of major yuri magazines yeah that makes sense from a lot of my research as well erica friedman seems to be the main source of a lot of information about yuri i have also wondered in general if some of the confusion around the genre also seems to come from a lot of western bookstores manga hosting sites and so on seemingly grouping memoir and short like joke comics about lesbians and so on under the yuri label i mean im sure part of that online is cuz dynasty scans has a really wide interest in what they seek out and translate which like i love that this stuff has a wider audience but its odd to call it yuri yeah ive noticed that as well in terms of shifts in whats actually focused on i read one yuri manga that was also about broader yuri fandom i guess like about a lonely lesbian who wrote yuri doujins and so on helping another manga artist find her love for drawing again and talking about like actual stuff about being gay and so on idk very interesting the places things are going like i think thats the other funny thing about the new narrative around yuri is like as you said its often kinda surprising still when characters actually say they are lesbians cuz a lot of works kinda held onto like oh ur my exception oh this will fade etc idk fascinating stuff thank u also for the details about the states of different magazines very interesting also if u wanna discuss this more in dms :3
