not necessarily my AU but i ended up drawing smth based on a scene from @novethegreat's fic, "In Love With A Ghost". ooohhhh you wanna read it so bad ooooohh

i like to think once yosuke gets over the whole undead roommate thing he starts to feel bad for leaving yu at home all day. (like a pet dog.....) so at some point he invites chie and yukiko over. maybe it’s a study session. but at first yukiko can’t make it so it’s just chie. yosuke tells yu to stay put in the room since chie is scared of ghosts (just like yosuke she’ll never admit it though lol). chie says that she and yukiko have been working on a new recipe and offers to cook which yosuke shoots down Very quickly, offering to cook himself, since a "friend" of his has been teaching him-- he very conveniently leaves out the whole undead roommate thing. but when he’s preparing the food he accidentally cuts his finger. yu forgets what he’s told and rushes through the walls into the kitchen scaring chie on accident.

yosuke: OW shit

yu: (phasing through the wall) yosuke! are you ok?

chie: yosuke! are youuuuuuUUUUAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHH

yukiko, the occult lover, is unable to see/hear ghosts… but when she hears abt "OHHH HANAMURAS APT IS HAUNTED ITS SO SCARY ITS AWFUL!!! i mean the ghost didnt kill me or anything he was actually pretty polite but its AWFUL!!!!!!" from chie, she gets sooo excited and begs yosuke to invite her over (for the ghost obviously not for yosuke. which is a bit of a blow to his ego LOL). and she comes in with a ouija board so she can talk to yu

yukiko: so. where is it?

yosuke: his name is yu. damn, not even a hello.

yukiko: well, where is he?

yosuke: …right over there.

yu tries to play along bc he thinks its fun, to yosukes exasperation. however he has trouble staying solid for very long so it takes foreverrrrr. but basically i think yu and yukiko writing each other notes to communicate like point blank pen pals would be cute… also when the others are around who can hear yu, playing telephone with what he says to yukiko and fucking it up (on accident OR on purpose) would be rly funny

Hi Frankie here. Back on anon, but I swear it is me. I just saw the new comic and it is Very Good. I am now very emotional about Wake's relationship with Linebeck. Insanely emotional. I am having a lot of feelings about this right now. I am about to not be normal about this.

Because Wake must have died before Linebeck. No one could have seen that coming, with Linebeck being so much older and Wake being so young and sturdy. He had survived for so long, and yet...

Wake must have followed his friends and family around as a ghost, keeping an eye on them without being able to help. And he sees Linebeck start a family and live a fulfilling life before he too died.

And did they have a moment where they were both deadmen stuck on earth? Did Linebeck stay behind to pat Wake on the back one last time, to joke that he couldn't believe the old sea dog was still lurking these waters? What did they talk about in death that they never got around to saying when living?

And what did Linebeck say when he told Wake he had to go. How did Wake say that he had to stay behind? What drives a ghost to visit an empty grave? What makes him stay there for a hundred years?

Then Wake sees Spirit again (younger now than he was before), but this time he's with Linebeck III. Spirit is not the hero he met all those years ago and Linebeck III is not his grandfather, but still. This grave is empty and is not Wake's to haunt, but he is here and he can see their friendship reflected in their successors. They both died, but somehow, their friendship lived on.

And now in Spirit's future, he will see Wake for the first time alive and realize he's not much different when he he died, and this will be another secret he has to keep. Maybe this younger Wake takes them to visit the Great Sea, where they meet Linebeck. Wake and Linebeck tease and torment each other, and they tell the same bawdy jokes.

And Linebeck is not his grandson. And Spirit is not Wake. But Spirit sees his friendship with Linebeck III is but the echo of two friends so closely connected, that one would haunt the other's grave long after they both die.

I am so interested in how ripe zelda lore is for cycles, so u are very spot on with the sort of dynamic I’ve been trying to set up. I’ll be honest I thought abt adding linebeck’s ghost there with him, and it maybe would have been a slightly happier comic if I had. But I like the idea of the ghosts of Link having a tendency to linger way longer than they should. For those like Wake who die young, it’s like…you give so much of your life to saving a land that u ended up not getting to spend that much time in. Of course ur attached. Of course u consider ur business unfinished. Can a hero’s soul even rest? Linebeck got to finish his business, so he can move on. Wake knows what’s coming in the next 100 years or so, and what’s a century of waiting around when ur a ghost? He wouldn’t be the first. I’m not sure he’s like entirely all there watching every moment for all that time, but he still sees a lot.

as soon as i saw that a hunter x hunter musical from the year 2002 starring the OG 99 VAs existed, i knew i has to see this...so i set out and watched the nightmare of zoldyck (i would later find out that theres ANOTHER musical, which i plan to watch too)

luckily its all on youtube subbed! in 360 quality...oh hell yes lmao

ok i logically knew this was gonna be a musical but seeing the characters singing is like. a lot. THIS IS SO STRANGE

musical illumi is played by a woman which is interesting. shes got a good voice

i think they just panned to killua but it was so pixelated that i legitimately could not tell hvbadjkfbjkdsf

actor showcase! everyone loves kurapika which, same

ah so the director of this musical also directed the sailor moon musicals, which i didnt know existed but of course that exists...thats funny considering the hxh mangaka is married to the sailor moon mangaka

anyways that was fun honestly!!!! i fuckgin love musicals, and musical adaptations of non-musical source materials can be like, SO different tonally, but this honestly felt like a fun filler

it was really interesting seeing something based on the canon from this early on - as i said above, some of the characterizations (like the zoldycks) seems a bit different than we’re used to, but others were spot on - like hisoka only showing up intermittently to sow chaos and do nothing else vhjkadhbfhkjdsfnj im assuming the yorknew arc hadnt happened at this point, but hisokas actions in this musical were hilariously similar to how he acted in the yorknew arc, so, props.

plus it was cool to see the ‘what if’ factor w/hisoka and illumi also being there, espec illumi interacting w/killua bc its so wildly different from how killua reacts to any of his other family members - hes clearly scared of illumi, in a way he isnt w/anyone else, and that was done well here w/the scene where illumi threatens killua’s friends to get killua to listen to him

also the angst was honestly great, and there was some REALLY sweet wholesome parts that i loved. and the music wasnt half bad either!!

i think the VAs did a great job playing the characters - hisokas VA was especially great (and i really loved kurapika too). gons hair was not very similar to how it looks in the show so it was a little more obvious that he was being played by a grown woman, but still a great performance.

anyways fun times, i love musicals and this was a fun ole 2000s filler shounen musical adaptation
