Well, explained. BTW, ShizuIza and IzaShizu are the pairing names in the JP fandom. And Izuo/IzaShizu was popular when the novels first were coming out in the 2000s according to my friend. Back then, Izaya was seen as more assertive (more top like in yaoi terms). Later on as readers got to see more of his insecurities, that’s when it got switched. Nothing to do with what anon is talking about. But I thought it was interesting to bring up.
That is actually interesting to think about. That could explain why Izuo would have been more popular in the beginning for sure.
Even if it hardly has anything to do with what Dear Anon was talking about, I think it is interesting trivia to know. I got in the fandom in 2015, and even then I have seen people use Izuo still. In the end though, I don’t think it exactly matters which one is used. I can understand in a topping and bottom sense why someone would use shizaya and why another would use Izuo but, after the....sexual part they are essentially the same thing. I understand preference for ship names as well, but just because it’s someone’s preference shouldn’t mean that they dictate what people should tag it!

saying izuo was more popular when the novels came out is just speculation. durarara barely had any exposure before 2010. also it's cool that you're a lesbian but you can't speak for gay men. we're all different and what I'm telling you is that thinking that a guy only bottoms isn't 'yaoi logic'
ShizuIza/IzaShizu was the popular tags in the JP fandom. It’s not much different from how it is now in the english one if you ask me.
You don’t have to keep bringing up that I’m lesbian and can’t speak for gay men I never said I was trying to.
