Tsukishima is working up the courage to confess for a few weeks (after a lot of prompting from Yamaguchi) when suddenly Kageyama comes to school smelling like cherry blossoms.
Tsukishima comes to the conclusion that Kageyama has a secret girlfriend and refuses to confess, now being mopey and trying to get over his feelings.
Yamaguchi, sick of all the sadness, asks Kageyama about it before Tsukishima gets to practice.
Kageyama doesn't know what Yamaguchi means when he says girlfriend, until Yamaguchi asks "Aren't the cherry blossoms her perfume?"
Realization dawns on Kageyama's face. "You mean my deodorant?"
"Yours?" Hinata asks.
"My sister's. Mine ran out."
Yamaguchi hides his face in his hands to keep from screaming. 'Tsukki just assumed he has a girlfriend?? He didn't even ask??'
THE NEXT DAY, BEFORE LUNCH
Of course there's no way to convince Tsukishima to confess while he's thinking this way.
Yamaguchi says it's Kageyama's sister's deodorant, but Tsukishima doesn't believe it.
"I didn't even know he had a sister."
Yamaguchi shrugs. "Me neither."
"What if he's lying?"
"Why would he lie?"
Tsukishima shrugs. "Maybe he just doesn't want the attention. Remember how Nishinoya and Tanaka teased Hinata about Yachi?"
Yamaguchi nods. "That was a lot," he admits.
"But it's not like 'Kageyama's girlfriend'," he says, making air quotes, "Would be someone the team knows."
"That's even worse for him! They only stopped when Yachi was around."
Yamaguchi sighs. "Fine. He's hiding a girlfriend from us." He stands up, and his voice has an edge to it when he says "And he's suddenly gained the ability to lie convincingly."
He leaves their class without Tsukishima, and Hinata (who was waiting in the hall for Yachi) asks what's wrong.
Yamaguchi pinches the bridge of his nose. "Tsukki still thinks Kageyama is hiding some girlfriend from all of us," he says as Yachi approaches them.
"Kageyama-kun doesn't have a girlfriend," she says as Hinata wraps an arm around her.
"We know," Hinata says at the same time Yamaguchi says "Tell that to tsukki."
Yachi laughs, hiding her face in Hinata's shoulder as she calms down. "Tsukishima thinks he- oh my god."
Yamaguchi frowns. "Why's that funny?"
Yachi shakes her head. "It's not mine to say."
Yamaguchi glances at Hinata to see if he knows what she's talking about. Judging by the creases on his forehead, Hinata is just as clueless as Yamaguchi is.
"Just ask Kageyama-kun."
"I've been trying to get Tsukishima to ask," Yamaguchi grumbles.
Yachi shakes her head again. "You ask him. He'll tell you."
Hinata's brow furrows. "What d'you mean he'll tell Yamaguchi?" he asks as Tsukishima comes out of his classroom.
Yachi gestures zipping her mouth shut and smiles at Tsukishima. "Let's get lunch! Kageyama-kun is probably done eating by now!" She grabs Hinata's hand and turns around, walking a good bit faster than she usually would, effectively ending the conversation.
Yamaguchi's mouth falls open for a second but he shakes it off when Tsukishima knocks their shoulders together.
"Lunch?"
"Yea."
AFTER SCHOOL THAT DAY, STRATEGY MEETING
"You and Hinata can do that?" Yamaguchi asks, looking over Kageyama's notes.
Kageyama shrugs. "We can try," he says with a grin.
Yamaguchi can't help smiling back. "Start with it at the end of the week then. Just go over it with Hinata tomorrow."
Kageyama nods, smile dimming as it gets replaced with a more determined, focused expression.
They pack up their stuff and they're about to leave when Yamaguchi abruptly stops walking.
Kageyama nearly crashes into him. "Wha-"
Yamaguchi turns on his heel, facing Kageyama. "Yachi said you had something to tell me."
Kageyama just looks at him, clueless.
"Something you won't tell Tsukishima? About your non-existent girlfriend?"
Kageyama groans, dropping his bag to sit on the bleachers, and puts his head in his hands. "She promised she wouldn't say anything."
Yamaguchi gasps. "So you do have a girlfriend," he says, overly scandalized.
Kageyama lifts his head to scowl at his captain. "I don't! I'm talking about Yachi!"
Yamaguchi crouches down to be just below Kageyama's height and gives him the puppy eyes. "So you told Yachi about your secret girlfriend and you won't tell me? I thought we were friends, Kageyama."
Kageyama shoves him so he falls flat on his ass. "That's not the secret," he grumbles as Yamaguchi dramatically sprawls across the floor.
He would act out a death but Kageyama's words caught his interest. "So there is a secret."
Kageyama's hands are back on his face. "Yes,,," he says miserably.
Yamaguchi sits up and raises an eyebrow. "Are you gonna tell me or should I tell everyone about your girlfriend?"
Kageyama glares at him. "I don't have a girlfriend!" He looks like he might punch Yamaguchi but thankfully he's too far to reach. "How many times do I have to say that?"
Yamaguchi looks contemplative. "Maybe a thousand more times," he says thoughtfully, hand on his chin and eyes to the ceiling. "Or a million." He drops his hand and looks at Kageyama, who's now staring at him with wide eyes. "or, you can just tell me whatever you're hiding."
Kageyama pouts. "Promise you won't tell Tsukishima."
Yamaguchi puts one hand on his heart and the other up with the palm facing forward. "I swear."
"I like Tsukishima."
Yamaguchi goes bug eyed, staring blankly at a rapidly reddening Kageyama while he tries to process this. The moment it all clicks together, he's clutching his stomach from laughter. "OH MY GOD! HE THINKS YOU- AND YOU-" Yamaguchi takes a deep breath, trying to compose himself before letting out a bout of giggles.
"What's so funny??!" Kageyama shouts.
It only makes Yamaguchi laugh more. "He-" Yamaguchi practically gasps, steadying himself as he looks at Kageyama. "He thinks you have a girlfriend but you like him!โ
Kageyama looks like he might kill Yamaguchi. "Yes," he says through gritted teeth. "We've established that."
"Ooooo, good job using a vocab word." Yamaguchi snaps a few times.
"Yamaguchi, what the hell is wrong with you."
Yamaguchi shrugs, grinning as he stands up. "I'm just fine, you're the one in love with Tsukishima."
Kageyama picks up his bag with a huff, getting ready to leave. "I'm never telling you anything ever again." he hands Yamaguchi his bag. "Friendship cancelled."
Yamaguchi's grin only widens as he swings an arm around Kageyama's shoulder. "Does that mean Tsukki's your english tutor now?"
Kageyama looks at him. "Yamaguchi," he says low, as a warning.
Yamaguchi pulls out his phone. "I can either tell him to tutor you or I can tell him your deep, dark secret. Your choice."
Kageyama lunges for the phone but Yamaguchi is too quick for him.
They go screaming down the hallway as Yamaguchi hits his speed dial. "OI! TSUKKI!" he shouts.
"Why are you-"
"CAN YOU TUTOR KAGEYAMA TOMORROW?? IโM BUSY!!" he yells into the phone as it swings around with the movement of his arms.
Tsukishima, hearing his friend as if he was going through a tunnel while simultaneously experiencing the doppler effect, is a bit concerned with what he's hearing. 'He can't be serious.' He pauses. Is he even free tomorrow?
"TSUKKI!! I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME- AAAAAA!!!" There's a slamming sound and heavy breathing before Kageyama's voice comes through the phone.
"He's kidding," Kageyama huffs. "Funny joke, right?" He hangs up before Tsukishima can respond.
'What the-? Joke?'
He gets a text from Yamaguchi a few hours later. I wasn't kidding.
Tsukishima's about to reply with im busy tmrw when there's another message from Yamaguchi.
His phone pings again. ask him about his gf or I'll come to your house and break your brontosaurus

Tsukishima sits next to Kageyama, whose books are spread out across the kitchen table, and he's overwhelmed by the scent of cherry blossoms. He groans softly, too soft for Kageyama to hear. 'This is a disaster.'
Kageyama's phone buzzes. have you admitted your deep dark secret?

Kageyama debates throwing his phone across the room. Yamaguchi tadashi you are a menace to society

Tsukishima's eyes narrow. He has a mind to text Yamaguchi โwtf is going on?โ but Kageyama speaks before he can pick up his phone.
"Tsukishima," he says despite the fact that he's staring at his own knees right now. "I like you."
Tsukishima's mouth moves before he can think. "What about your girlfriend?"
That gets Kageyama to look at him. "I DON'T-" Kageyama cuts himself off, closing his eyes for a moment before speaking again. "I don't have a girlfriend. It's my sister's deodorant." And with that, Kageyama leaves the room.
Tsukishima is wondering if he should follow him but Kageyama pops back in less than a minute later with a photo album.
He flips it to a random page, one of his parents at their wedding, and flips a few more pages. Tsukishima sees glimpses of a very round baby holding a volleyball and an elderly guy in a tracksuit before Kageyama finally stops on a page of himself as a toddler, holding an older girl's hand. "Me and my sister." He flips the page again. "More proof, cuz for some reason none of you believe me." This photo is of the two kids on the beach, Kageyama grumpily staring the camera down while his sister puts sunscreen on him. The next is of the two of them happily building a sandcastle. He flips to another random page, this one a formal photo of him, his sister and his parents.
"You've had the same smile your whole life, huh?"
"Shut up," Kageyama snaps, closing the album. "I hate you."
"You don't," Tsukishima replies right away, grinning in a way that reminds Kageyama he's best friends with Yamaguchi. "You like me." His voice is much gentler and his facial expression softens when he adds, "I like you too."
Kageyama's jaw drops.
Tsukishima can't look at him.
"You're a moron," Kageyama deadpans.
"What?? What are you-" Tsukishima splutters. "You talking about?"
"You're a moron."
"I'm tutoring you right now!"
Kageyama looks pointedly at his unopened english book. "We're not getting much done."
"You're the worst."
Kageyama smiles, a small one, nothing compared to Tsukishima's grin from a few minutes ago. "And you like me."

โHold that thought.โ I stopped him. Silence reigned over the room until Yamaguchi came in.ย โGo on.โ

โN-no.โ Mr Yachi stood up as well.ย โHitoka, stay safe, okay?โ He held her hand and smiled. Ms Yachi nodded to him and smiled too.
Kiyoko came in.ย โDaichi wants everyone in the conference room.โ
โAh. Kiyoko can you ask someone to escort Mr Yachi home?โ
โYes. Mr Yachi.โ Kiyoko called and Mr Yachi followed her out.
โMs Yachi, youโll be shadowing me for today.โ We walked to the conference room. I sat down and Yachi stood beside me.
โWhere were you last night?โ Nii-san immediately asked.
โLooking for a job.โ
โEnnoshita?โ He looked towards Ennoshita.
Ennoshita smiled.ย โShe did mention that when she talked to the culprit.โ
โWhy were you out the whole night then?โ
โWe solved the case for all the theft and vandalism. The culprit confessed. I helped him out now he wants to sell his company to me.โ
โWhat did you all do?โ He asked and looked at the men that I went out with last night. Fear was painted in their expression.
โWe retrieved the money from a gang and reunited a family.โ Ennoshita answered for them.
โOn that note.โ I pointed to Yachi.ย โSheโs the daughter of that man. Sheโs here on a trial run for a job.โ I looked at her and gestured for her to introduce herself.
โI-Iโm Yachi Hitoka. Tha-thank you for your hos-hospitality.โ
โSheโs sticking with me or Kiyoko until we finish making the contracts.โ
โContracts?โ
โMr Yachi personally requested that only she buy the company from him.โ
โI left out 18 per cent of the stocks so he has a chance to buy back his own company if he wishes.โ Nii-san narrowed his eyes at me.ย โNii-san, think about it. The economy is shit right now, itโs the perfectโ - I gestured to emphasize the word - โtime to buy something this big and this is not just some company. Itโs Date Technical Incorporated.โ
His face softened and the rest that didnโt know were shocked.
โSugar, I think we should take it.โ Suga put his hand over Nii-sanโs as he looked at him.
โWhat do you plan to do with their company?โ
โWe can have the employees protect the neighbourhood they live in. I know, weโre all understaffed regarding the protection of our territory. Also, self-explanatory, theyโre a construction and manufacturing company.โ
Nii-san propped his head.ย โI thought you donโt want to be a part of this.โ
โNii-san, you know how I despise being useless more than anything.โ I dropped any emotion on my face and looked at him.
He sighed. โYamaguchi, make sure you consult Ennoshita and Kiyoko before finalizing the contracts.โ
โYe-yes, sir.โ
โI also want a report on what you guys did last night.โ
Nii-san dismissed us all. As I walk, I felt my phone vibrate. I took it out and saw a heartfelt message from a familiar person. Sadness and anger welled up in my chest.
โMs Yachi.โ
โYou-you can call me Hitoka. We- weโre at the same-same age anyway, right?โ
โOkay.โ I smiled.ย โIs it okay if I leave you with Kiyoko for a while? I need to train.โ
โYe-yes.โ
We got in my room and I got into a change of clothes. As we were going out, Kiyoko was passing by.ย โOh. Kiyoko, can Hitoka stay with you for a while? I need to train.โ
Kiyoko smiled.ย โSure. Come with me, Hitoka.โ
I made my way towards the gym. I saw Kageyama and Hinata training as well. They both greeted me. I raised my hand as reciprocation. I walked up to them.ย
โI havenโt said my praise to you guys. You guys are good.โ
They said thank you.
โHow did you guys meet?โ
โSomeone put out an open contract. I was about to get the kill, but this man stole my kill with a snipe.โ Hinata said through gritted teeth as he glared at Kageyama.
โWhy did you want to join the Black Crows?โ
โI joined because I wanted to meet one of their best hitmen.โ Hinata admitted.
โI joined because I wanted to work under the previous head.โ
โYou guys have no plans on leaving?โ They both shook their heads. I chuckled. Why would you put your life on the line for some family?ย โIโll leave you guys be.โ I walked to one of the machines and started my sets.
I lost my focus and just droned on doing my sets until I donโt want to anymore. Tanaka barged in.
โHey! Itโs dinner time! Get your asses--โ He noticed me.ย โMs Sawamura!โ
I waved my hand to dismiss his weariness. I checked to see if I was sweating. I got a towel and dried myself. I saw the two waiting for me.
โUgh. Nii-san might hate it if I walk in dressed like this. You guys can go on Iโll just get in a change of clothes.โ
โWeโll guard you.โ Hinata stated and Kageyama agreed.
I went to my room and changed. The three of us came into the dining hall. Daichi had a frown in his face.
โRelax, Nii-san. I was training.โ
We ate our dinner. I noticed Hitoka timider than last night then I realized it was because Asahi was next to her. I looked back to my food and felt sick to my stomach then I noticed my back aching. I stood up. โI feel sick.โ
Everyone stopped.
โDo-do you need help?โ Asahi offered.
โIi-itโs okay. Iโll just-- Iโll just go to my room.โ I smiled. I hung my head down to avoid their gaze. I breathe in when I finally got into my room. I removed my top and tried to look at my back through the mirror. All the stains of the past are revealed but nothing can compare to the ones that arenโt there. I wonder how he is now. I donโt think I could show my face without shame now. I put on one of the many mini yukatas Suga bought me and planted myself face first on the silk sheets. Tiredness overcame me.
I woke up to the feeling of someone watching me. I tried not to move much and looked for something I could grab and throw. I felt a nuzzle at the back of my head and a gunshot.

Every one of them heard an ear-piercing scream. Daichi shot up and ran to his sisterโs room. Everyone followed suit. Suga and Kageyama had their guns ready. They opened her door just to see her alone as a crying mess. Suga dropped his gun and ran to her.
โSweet pea! Are you okay?!โ
โI thought- I thought--โ She laid her head on Sugaโs lap.ย โIโm scared...โ
Suga was about to rub her back but they all noticed his fear on his face.ย โSweet pea...?โ She didnโt reply as she fainted from her panic.
โSuga? What is it?โ Daichi went to his side.
โWho... Who hurt my baby?โ He covered his mouth and his eyes started to glaze.
Daichi choked when he saw what he meant. Scars. Ennoshita took a look for himself.ย โLaceration. They donโt look like deep cuts.โ
โIs this what she--โ
Kiyoko had her hands folded over her lips. Tears were streaming down her face. Tanaka comforted her.
Suga carefully laid her head on her pillow and tucked her in. They left her alone and gathered in the other room. The seniors were all quiet as well as Ennoshita. The rest were at an unease.
Asahi started.ย โShould we-should we a-ask her about it?โ
Suga looked at Daichi.
Ennoshita looked back on how she asked about the lethality of the ammo last night. She was already thinking of a different way just so she could avoid someoneโs death. โWe canโt.โ
โHuh?!โ Tanaka and Nishinoya shot up from his place.
โWe got a member that was harmed!โ Nishinoya handed.ย โWe have to do something!โ
โNishinoya. Tanaka.โ He glared at the two until they withdrew. He put his head down. He hid his face from everyone. His shoulders trembled as he tried to stop himself from crying.

I finished my sets. I looked over and saw Hinata alone. I didnโt even notice him come in.ย โWhereโs your training partner?โ
โIn the range.โ I stood up and walked towards the door.ย โCould you come with me? I want to check out the company.โ
โOkay.โ
I walked towards the lounge. As expected Tsukishima and Yamaguchi were there. Tsukishima glanced then darted his eyes away when I caught him. I walked over to Yamaguchi.ย โHowโs the contract?โ I leaned over to see the screen.
โMs Sawamura!โ Yamaguchi blushed.
โOh. Sorry.โ I distanced myself a bit. I read the contract.ย โPut in that they could take independent contracts too.โ
โO-okay.โ
I stood back up.ย โIโm going to the company to check it out or visit one of their sites,โ I said as I walk out. I looked around to look for the others. I asked Ennoshita and Narita to accompany me to the company. I saw Hitoka with Kiyoko and asked her if she wants to come with me to see her father. She accepted.
I got back to my room to change my clothes. I saw Nishinoya with the others. Looks like he and Hinata will be on bikes for this trip. Hitoka and I sat beside each other. It was a silent ride except for Nishinoya doing a few tricks.
โNishinoya didnโt really change.โ Narita commented.
โTanaka too.โ Ennoshita added.ย โItโs probably for the best.โ
We got to a company warehouse. Mr Yachi was there to greet us.ย โMr Yachi shouldnโt you be in the safe house?โ
โDonโt worry; someone on patrol is here. What brings you here?โ
โI was thinking about what we could do to help your company. It was lucky that youโre here.โ I noticed Hinata and Nishinoya sightseeing already before us.ย โHinata, Nishinoya, not too far.โ
Mr Yachi gave us a tour. I asked about the company properties. I let my eyes wander and noticed an albino man glaring our way. I stuck close to Ennoshita for a sense of comfort.
I saw Hinata looking his way. He then ran without a thought and pushed the man out of the way. A loud crash echoed through the place. I had to cover my ears for a second. We all ran towards them.
I looked up and just noticed a few of the frames rusting.ย โI guess thatโs one thing we could help you with.โ
โAone?! Are you okay?โ A guy helped him up.
โYou said that you have empty warehouses, right?โ
โYes.โ
I looked out the empty concrete field outside.ย โHave you ever thought of customizing and restoring vehicles?โ
โI think someone here suggested that but I never had enough funds for it.โ
โWeโll take care of it.โ
We finished our meeting and were saying our goodbyes then the guy called Aone and the other guy approached us.ย โThank you for saving helping us even after what we did.โ
โOh. Right. This is Futakuchi Kenji. Heโs the person you can contact if not me.โ
I bowed and introduced myself.ย โHope to be able to work with you. Iโd like to see you for when we sign the contracts.โ
The guy called Aone stared at Hinata, making Hinata flinch a bit. He put out his hand. Hinata took a bit of time to process it then accepted his gesture formally.
We all went home. I took a quick shower then got into a bath. I looked down and saw a bit of color. I inhaled and caught on the scent of herbs. It wasnโt much but itโs there. "Should I ask Kiyoko and Hitoka to make time to be in here together?" I leaned on the edge. Wonโt they be disgusted about my back though?
"I canโt even remember what really happened that night. I just remember the pain then the gunshots. The sound of wet footsteps."ย A tear fell from my eye. Remembering him brings back the sensations on my back. "Saying that I donโt miss him is a blatant lie. But... I donโt think I could show my face to him after everything."
I dressed up and started walking around the mansion. Nothing much did change. Before I even knew it, I was outside and I could hear faint gunshots in the distance. I walked towards the range and saw Kageyama by himself. He immediately notices me and greeted me briefly.
I walked over to the table and looked at the firearms laid out. I took notice of the bullets and examined them. "How much damage can this do?"
Kageyama paused for a while then pulled the target to us. The hole was bigger than the usual ammo.
"We aimed mostly at their forearms, thighs and calves. They got swollen marks."
"Can I?" I put on the ear mufflers. Kageyama made way for me. I picked up the pistol. The warmth of his hand was still present but there were bits where the cold metal was almost stinging my skin.
I took aim and held my breath. My vision started to go darker on the edges. I inhaled sharply and put the gun down. I can't do it. I huffed.
I noticed Kageyama looking at me. I chuckled nervously. "I'm not- I donโt...โ I took a breath. โI'm not used to guns..." I said. "I might need help with this."
Kageyama put his hands over mine then gave me pointers for my form and how to hold the gun properly. We both fired the gun. The recoil made me flinch but Kageyamaโs body stood still.
โWhoa.โ I looked at the target and saw that the shots were close to the centre. He was still able to aim well despite the sight being off for him.ย โHow long have you been doing this?โ
โI started practising my aim when I was eight. I was only allowed to handle guns when I was 16.โ He stated without an ounce of any emotion surfacing as he tended to the gun.
โOi.โ We both turned and it was Tsukishima with an annoyed frown.ย โTime to eat.โ
