{Okay, now that I'm properly awake I'm going to elaborate on this. That thing I woke up at like 1-2 am to type out.}

{I do not know why, but I sort of halfway woke up in the middle of the night and was simply possessed by the thoughts of Hanekoma having to deal with losing Joshua, whom he considers to be, quite literally, his soulmate. And it drove me crazy until I finally broke down and threw something up on the dash.}

{This gets pretty long, so I'm cutting for length.}

{So, basically, he might not have realized it upon their initial meeting, but over time Hanekoma has grown to consider his connection to Joshua to be fate. He's met enough of his counterparts who have had this attachment to Joshua, and just as many that actually ended up being in a romantic relationship or familial relationship with him, that he feels like it is a universal given that they should be together. And for all of Joshua's suffering, he has blamed himself. For what happened to Shibuya, he has blamed himself. Should Shibuya and himself lose the person that he considers to be destined for that place, he will also blame himself entirely. He will heft guilt upon guilt onto his shoulders for that.}

{Additionally, it sounds a little like Joshua won't be able to continue a relationship with Hanekoma. Not only will he be losing the Composer he believes to be destined for that place, he will also completely be losing the only person he has in his life that he can be 100% open with. Joshua knows he's an angel, knows about the Higher Plane, so when it comes to these things Joshua is the only person he can lean on with concern, even if he still has to be careful not to upset him. There are very few secrets between them at this point. Hanekoma still holds all of his other friends at arm's length, even ones like Emi. So he would feel completely isolated after Joshua's departure.}

{The loss would be absolutely devastating. But Hanekoma wouldn't be able to openly express this. Because God forbid the Higher Plane catch wind of it and decide he's too emotional to continue leading Shibuya as it's Producer. He would force those emotions under the surface and do everything in his power to distract himself from feeling them or trying to process them, since doing so could be dangerous. It would become the most creative, productive time of his life. He would cease eating and sleeping and resting entirely to work. He would absolutely get sick from it, and he would push through that illness to keep it up. He would come closer to being an angel than he had ever been in his entire existence as one, relying entirely on his angelic body to hold him up while he crammed every waking second with some kind of work. Be it fashion, tagging, music, the café, reports, anything he can possibly find to do he will do. Because any moment of reprieve will force him to think about how empty his life has become without Joshua in it anymore. And he cannot allow that to happen.}

{This also means that travel to other universes would also cease entirely. He would go MIA from the Twins' life, drop contact with their Composer and with the other visiting Composer of that universe. He would stop his work with them for the foreseeable future. Partially because he won't feel safe leaving a brand new Composer alone to handle things by himself, partially because he won't want any of them to see him teetering on the edge of a breakdown, and partially because he won't want to face those counterparts which didn't break the universe by losing their destined Composer. He would likely isolate himself from everyone, even making contact with his kids and Emi scarce. He wouldn't avoid them entirely, but he would drift out of their lives and stop trying to be so involved. Part because he likely wouldn't be allowed to run into Joshua, and part because he would be far too busy with his other work and keeping himself distracted.}

{He would become severely unhealthy. He would live his life the way no human ever should and rely on his angelic form to keep it barely sustained. He would absolutely need to be given that moment to just break and fall apart, but he definitely wouldn't choose to do it on his own for fear of the Higher Plane finding out.}

{It would be devasting.}

the one word where morty figured out this wasn’t really rick.

and no wonder morty believes rick could just up and replace him any day. because there’s infinite versions of him, after all. because there’s infinite other things that are better than him. because, for the longest time, every other day, rick kept on telling him how replaceable he is.

no wonder he was scared that hug wouldn't have been real.

but, truth is, rick would’ve jumped after him (if he had thought morty was in real danger).

truth is, rick would have performed in front of a crowd for him.

"Ouch."

"Hold still and it won't hurt as much."

Eddie Munson was sitting on the counter in his bathroom, and in front of him was one Steve Harrington. Normally a situation like this would intrigue anyone, but considering the black eye and the blood dripping down his face, Eddie wasn't as excited as he may normally be.

"Actually it wouldn't hurt at all if you hadn't decided to get in a fight with that asshole."

Steve was doing his best to clean up Eddies face, but a very squirmy Eddie was not helping the situation.

"I didn't even start it, he said shit so I insulted him back. He just happened to think with his fists rather than his words."

"You instigated that fight and you know it."

"I won didn't I? OW!"

"I don't think this is the face of a winner."

Steve stepped away from Eddie, giving up on helping any more than he had. In all honesty he was right, that was not the face of a winner.

"What no kiss to make it better?" Eddie pointed to the small gash on his forehead, and although he didn't expect anything he was pleasantly surprised when Steve took a step toward him before reluctantly leaning downward to plant a kiss near the injury.

"Better?"

"...hurts here too." Eddie pointed to his cheek, it didn't actually hurt there but surprise and intrigue pushed him to see how far he could go with this bit.

And just like before Steve leaned down to plant a kiss on his cheek, though this one lingered maybe half a second longer than the other.

"Now?"

He should have stopped there, lucky enough to get not one but two kisses from Steve Harrington, but Eddie was feeling extra brave today so after a second of staring up at Steves face he slowly brought his hand up and pointed toward his lips.

He really should have stopped there but goddamnit, he had Steve Harrington in front of him there and oh my god he was leaning in again.

Eddies brain practically short circuited as Steve gently brought a hand to the side of his face and gave him the most gentle, butterflies-in-the-stomach kiss he had ever gotten.

"Now does it hurt?"

"N-no."

And with that he was walking away. Steve Harrington, who had just kissed Eddie because he asked, was walking away like nothing happened.
