Incase if is the too small or difficult to read.
Panel 1
'Kevin entry number XX During the day, When James transforms into Sunside. He usually goes to the place where he can recharge his energy. He recharges when the sun shines into his rays like a solar panel. The energy from the sunlight is absorbed by the PV cells in his ray. This energy creates electrical charges that move in response to an internal electrical field in the cell, causing electricity to flow. That's what makes his head shine. This means Sun is more active during the day than night. '
Panel 2
'But when there is cloudy weather and rain. He became dull, less active and didn't want the do anything. Hoping that the rain would stop soon. But what if he was at home while it was raining. He will find something to occupy himself with. James told me he wished he could spend time with Sun if he and Sun were separate into two beings and not in their mindscapes. Their experience will be more real than fantasy. I understand what he mean. Unfortunately this is impossible without causing irreparable consequences by separating these two. '
Panel 3
I asking James, what was his recharged place he was talking about? James respond to me by saying: '' Sun goes on the field near the mountains. A place he can be free from works in the weekend and doing what he wanted without anyone telling him what he can and cannot do. It was his sanctuary. If anyone finds his place, he will be upset and angry that someone comes into his sanctuary. I ask him to find another place. He responded angrily saying “absolutely not!” I think he would fight to make sure no one steals his sanctuary. ''

Hey! I work as a freelance content writer/copywriter as well. I had to stop working because of academic pressure, but the pay in my country is peanuts, and I have always wanted to expand globally. I would really appreciate it if you could share some tips on how you started getting clients and how did you build your agency? Thanks!!
Hi love! Some high-level tips are below:
Intern/Apply to remote internships to get clips/experience
Create an Upwork account to get entry-level work/testimonials to get some client portfolio work and to help build your professional reputation
Always be on the lookout for leads, do your research, and craft a thoughtful/useful pitch for the client/publisher. Send work samples/share how you can help them. Follow up – remember rejection is part of the job, it's a numbers game
Start your own blog to show off your skills/build credibility in the writing world/your field
Save all of your quality-work to use in your portfolio. Always have a portfolio ready in PDF format and as a direct link that's mobile-friendly available when pitching clients
Utilize LinkedIn, your university connections, build your network, request informational interviews, and don't be shy to ask for letters of recommendation or referrals
When you do get a client whose honest and integral, show up and do your best work and submit it on time. If you can't for whatever reason, request an extension/notify them of the delay ahead of time
Perfect your craft, continuously read about your industry, and sharpen your skills. Show up with a business owner, not employee, mindset. This might be different when you're doing contract work for an agency where they might have their own contracts, set a budget, etc. But, when working with smaller, independent clients, ensure you have your rates, terms, general business practices, contracts (see a lawyer about this one), onboarding process, client questionnaire, payment method, etc., all set up for your client to acclimate to when you're ready to sign them. Remember, your clients are your customers, not your employers. It is a partnership, not an unequal power dynamic – you are the talent, not the direct report.
Hope this helps xx

My 2024 Eurovision Top 37!!!
It's that time of year again! That time where I give my opinions on Eurovision that nobody asked for!
Is this an especially strong year for Eurovision? Eh. Yes and no. There's a lot of songs I don't like, more than there probably has been in any recent years, but there's also lots of songs I really like and would be happy if they won.
I think this is shaping up to be a very interesting year. I would argue that there is no clear and obvious frontrunner. Any winner is really probably going to feel like a "surprise", and most likely a pleasant one at that. There's a lot of songs here that feel like they'd be deserving winners, with no one really so clearly ahead of the pack to where it would feel like they were "robbed" if they lost.
But anyway, we're counting down, in reverse order, below the cut!
XX. ISRAEL - EDEN GOLAN - Hurricane
Ok, full disclosure, this is why I was kind of late to post my top. I haven't listened to this song. Frankly, I don't feel comfortable listening to this song. I don't know if I ever will. So, accordingly, I will not be giving it a rating, review, or ranking. I wish to make no further comment and please respect my decision.
Sorry for the downer start, but that's just how I feel.
36. SWITZERLAND - NEMO - The Code
I'm starting off controversial. I have no idea why this song is so popular in the community. I do not know what other people hear in this. To me, this just sounds like an annoying, disjointed mess.
35. LATVIA - DONS - Hollow
This song is a slow, dirgey wall of sludge. Sorry to this man, but I don't come to Eurovision to feel like I'm at a funeral.
34. BELGIUM - MUSTII - Before The Party's Over
This song is a slightly less slow, dirgey wall of sludge. I don't know, it feels like it's trying really hard to be artsy and ~important~
33. ICELAND - HERA BJÖRK - Scared of Heights
"I'm not one to take risks."
Yeah, Hera. We can tell. Jesus Christ. This song is so safe it feels like getting a lecture on abstinence at a Christian private school.
32. MOLDOVA - NATALIA BARBU - In The Middle
I like the chorus. Shame about literally everything else in this song.
31. ALBANIA - BESA - Titan
What's with the random banjos? Albania in its Folklore era.
30. AZERBAIJAN - FAHREE & ILKIN DOVLATOV - Özünlə Apar
As much as I want to give Azerbaijan bonus points for finally sending something partially in Azeri, I literally cannot remember a single note from this song and I relistened to it about an hour ago.
29. FRANCE - SLIMANE - Mon Amour
Every year at Eurovision be like
Eurovision: "Hey, France, how French do you want to make your entry this year?"
France: "Oui."
He's got a great voice but to me this is just a run of the mill, paint by numbers Eurovision ballad that is also French and mentions Paris.
28. GERMANY - ISAAK - Always on the Run
Okay I actually don't really care for this song at all, it sounds like the kind of generic, inoffensive, slight hint of country so they don't alienate the flyover states kind of song they make American Idol winners sing. He's only this high because I really like his voice.
27. MALTA - SARAH BONNICI - Loop
This is an average Eurovision song.
26. LUXEMBOURG - TALI - Fighter
This is an average Eurovision song.
25. GEORGIA - NUTSA BUZALADZE - Firefighter
By the time this song gets going, it really comes together. It finishes really strong. The problem is the first...half or so? It's a disjointed mess. But the fact that I like at least PART of this song so much is what puts it above all these other songs that are insta-skips.
24. LITHUANIA - SILVESTER BELT - Luktelk
Probably my next most controversial pick. I don't get the hype for this song? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's fine. I like it. But it's just, like...an average song in this genre? It's nothing special.
23. PORTUGAL - IOLANDA - Grito
This is probably a case where it's not the song so much as it's me not getting it. To my ears it sounds pleasant but dated. And slower songs are often fighting an uphill battle with me at Eurovision anyway so.
22. ARMENIA - LADANIVA - Jako
I really like this, it's the fun folk throwback of this year. The only problem with it is, it's basically just straight up folk instrumentation. It sounds very small as a result. It could have used just a bit more modern production to give it that real OOMPH factor.
21. NETHERLANDS - JOOST KLEIN - Europapa
I probably would have liked this song a lot more if I hadn't heard Finland first. Spoilers for later. Also maybe I'm just too Australian and not European enough to really be able to relate to this song.
20. UNITED KINGDOM - OLLY ALEXANDER - Dizzy
This song feels like a throwback to a lot of the kind of British pop music that would cross over onto the Australian charts here when I was a kid. Like, remember when Billie Piper was a pop singer? Remember Craig David? This song doesn't sound like either of those per se but it does sound like the kind of song that would be on like one of these albums that I have in a box in my garage somewhere
Tumblr media
19. AUSTRALIA - ELECTRIC FIELDS - One Milkali (One Blood)
Listen, I love Electric Fields. I've seen them live, and they were great. And I love this song. It's very meditative, it gives some good kind of spiritual advice that I vibe with. I think the song is only this low because, well, the video is meh, and this kind of feels like a "safe" Electric Fields energy? It feels like they could have done more.
18. SERBIA - TEYA DORA - Ramonda
See even though this song is a slow ballad, it avoids being a dirgey wall of sludge because it actually has like dynamic range to it. It's mostly quiet and gentle, and it builds to a big high point. It doesn't just feel like a wall of melancholy sound slowly drowning me.
17. GREECE - MARINA SATTI - Zari
I think I'm not hip enough for this. I feel like I'm going to come back to this later and like it a lot more than I already do. And I do like this. It feels kind of like a Greek Russian Woman in terms of vibe, and I mean that as a compliment. This is really good. It just may be a bit too weird, too out there, and too current to really land at Eurovision. Like this song definitely feels like it belongs on the internet. This song has iPhone face.
16. SPAIN - NEBULOSSA - Zorra
I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing!
Seriously though, this song is for the girls and the gays. And as I am a girl and a gay, I can appreciate it. This song is about, no matter what you do, people are going to call you a bitch and try and drag you down. So she's like, OK, fuck you, I'm going to go take on the world, be an empowered woman, and be successful, and if that makes me a bitch then fine, I'm the best bitch here. And I think that's a good message, and I support it. Women shouldn't have to make themselves smaller so as to not threaten your insecurities.
15. CYPRUS - SILIA KAPSIS - Liar
There is just something absolutely FILTHY about this beat that makes me want to throw it back. Fortunately for everybody, I am incapable of throwing it back, so you don't have to be subjected to that. But, like, I feel it in this song. This beat does dirty things to me.
14. ESTONIA - 5MIINUST & PUULUUP - (Nendest) Narkootikumidest Ei Tea Me (Küll) Midagi
Every time this song comes on, I can't resist the urge to get up and start dancing to it, so it must be doing something right. But also fuck you for making me write a title that long.
13. SWEDEN - MARCUS & MARTINUS - Unforgettable
Swedes are too OP at pop. Like this song is basically perfect. Fortunately, I am too much of a lesbian to be nostalgic for boy band music. If I had been into the Backstreet Boys or N*Sync back in the day, this song would make me super nostalgic, and it would probably be my number one. But as it is I'm nostalgic for different things, and it's all those songs that are in my top ten this year. As you'll see.
12. UKRAINE - ALYONA ALYONA & JERRY HEIL - Teresa & Maria
Ukraine doesn't miss at Eurovision. If the Vidbir staging had like...any budget at all, this would probably be higher. That's really all that's holding it back. I love this song. It's great.
11. CROATIA - BABY LASAGNA - Rim Tim Tagi Dim
This was hard. I went back and forth with this and other songs in my top 10 so many times. If you ask me to make this list again five minutes from now, this is probably there. If this song wins Eurovision, I'll be happy. I love it. If there's anything holding this back in comparison to the songs in my top, it's: I'm more nostalgic for other genres apparently; there's no real vocal moment in this song; the production kind of sounds like this was made in Garageband? Don't take any of this to mean I don't like the song. I do. But I like this a roughly equal amount to like half of my top ten and I had to split hairs.
10. SLOVENIA - RAIVEN - Veronika
youtube
This is art, mama. This was the first Eurovision song I heard this year and it really started everything off on a good note. The insane vocal moment at the end is what kept this in my top 10 above Croatia. I cannot wait to see the staging because this has a vision.
9. NORWAY - GÅTE - Ulveham
youtube
This feels weird having it this low. It was my number four for the longest time. Like, until I made this list today. I think it's the verses holding it back for me. The verses are a little bit nothing. It's just a lot of "this happened, and then this happened". And that's the one thing that docks an execution point from this otherwise excellent song. But it's lovely hearing Norwegian at Eurovision for the first time in forever
8. AUSTRIA - KALEEN - We Will Rave
youtube
Things Badger is nostalgic for, entry #1 - Cascada, apparently. This is taking me back to playing fucking DDR at the Time Zone outside of Hoyts at Hornsby Westfield when I was like 15. This was one of the songs I was juggling with whether to keep in my top ten, asking myself "Do I really like this song as much as I thought I did the last time I played it?" So then I'd play it again, and every time I played it...I'd get this feeling. And every time we kiss, I swear I could fly.
Wait.
7. ITALY - ANGELINA MANGO - La Noia
youtube
OK, full disclosure, if I were ranking the songs "objectively" in terms of which one is the best, like if I were taking personal taste out of this and just telling you what song I think will or should win Eurovision, this would be my pick. This is by far the hippest thing Italy has ever sent to Eurovision. It's great. It's fun. It's fresh. It's vocally challenging but executed with unbelievable ease. Angelina Mango is style, she is fashion, she is an icon, she is the moment. She's everything. Also, BUSINESS PRINCESS. What more can you want?
6. CZECHIA - AIKO - Pedestal
youtube
Things Badger is nostalgic for entry #2 - late 80s/early 90s girl grunge rockers. This song is stuck in my head all the time, and it's awesome. You just want to scream out the chorus. Because, you know what, I relate to this. I am currently going through a phase of loving me more, loving me more than your bullshit. And it feels great. It's empowering. It's a good message. Sometimes we do need to learn to put ourselves first, and learn what self-love actually means.
5. DENMARK - SABA - Sand
youtube
This is Scandinavian pop perfection. And I am not immune to Scandi-pop. Far from it. It's a well-known weakness of mine. I apologise if it makes me boring, but I fucking love this. I love every single second of this song. I'm probably going to vote for it in the Grand Final. If this wins the Jury I will be the one person who was like yeah I told you.
4. POLAND - LUNA - The Tower
youtube
OK, I initially had this lower. This was always in my Top 10. I always loved this song. But I always kind of had it in my mind of like, oh yeah, this is a really great song, but I like other songs more.
But, do I, though? Because, other than my #1 song, this is the song I've listened to more than any other song this year. And, as I was putting together this list, I kept thinking, oh yeah, The Tower is going to be the song that I listen to the most (other than my number 1) after this contest, it's going to be on all my playlists.
And then I stopped and thought, wait, hang on. If I keep wanting to listen to this song more than all the others, and I'm already looking forward to listening to this song for years to come...doesn't that mean I like it a hell of a lot more than I keep thinking I do? And, yeah. The answer is yes. I really love this song. I think the reason I kept underrating it is because it's just a great song all the way through with no real big epic Eurovision moment, right? But this list isn't what song I think will win Eurovision, it's what songs I like best. And I like this song almost the best. This is the kind of music I listen to.
3. FINLAND - WINDOWS95MAN - No Rules!
youtube
Things Badger is nostalgic for entry #3 - Y2K era Eurodance. This is basically just Planet of the Bass with only slightly less irony. And I love literally everything about it. Eurodance is a fundamental, defining characteristic of who I am. The first album I ever owned was Aqua's Aquarium. This shit just speaks to my soul, OK?
2. IRELAND - BAMBIE THUG - Doomsday Blue
youtube
*stands and applauds* You did it. You fucking did it, Ireland. You sent something interesting. Thank God. And, like, OK, interesting in and of itself does not equal good. This song is a stylistically experimental mishmash of different genres that could very easily be an unlistenable messy clusterfuck, but it's not. It's unironically actually very good and...oddly coherent? It's honestly bizarre how well these stylistic shifts that should be jarring just flow seamlessly. Or at least to me they do.
Is there maybe a part of this song that is trying a little too hard to be different and edgy? Yeah, sure, maybe. But I was once a teenager trying too hard to be different and edgy, and maybe this song speaks to that part of me that I haven't accessed in a while.
1. SAN MARINO - MEGARA - 11:11
youtube
Man, it sucks that this is going to go out in the semi-finals because I REALLY love this song, and I don't get why other people don't.
But apparently it's because...Thing Badger is nostalgic for, entry #4, mid-2000s electronic rock, which was absolutely fucking huge in Australia at the time. This song reminds me so much of that time in my life when I was listening to, like, The Rogue Traders, The Veronicas, TV Rock, The Presets, The Potbelleez, Sneaky Sound System. I could keep going. Apparently I was hugely nostalgic for this exact sound and I had no idea until I heard this song. But apparently this is also an experience entirely unique to me because it seems like nobody else likes this song, or cares about it at all.
Whatever, it will always have a fan in me.
OK HAPPY END

Now, I would like to introduce part 2 of my top 12 list of obscure RWBY villians! Spoilers Ahoy! Naturally, this list also contains several spoilers for the various RWBY comics, manga, games, and splinter video series. Continue at your own peril! Starting with number 6 and working our way down to number 1.
6. Dr. Merlot - Honestly, I am a little surprised that I am placing Dr. Merlot this high on the list. If Hei Xiong is your standard mob boss-type villian, than Dr. Merlot is your poster child mad scientist. Basically like Arthur Watts, if Arthur was a flat Saturday morning cartoon villain. Stereotypical or not, he is still an entertaining villain in the game 'Grimm Eclipse' (as well as in the 'Combat Ready' board game). He even received the honor of having his own theme song, courtesy of Jeff and Casey Williams.
5. Master - This is perhaps the strangest entry on this list. The honorific of 'villain' is also a bit of a stretch. This one comes from Ruby's Anthology manga. In this manga, a mysterious red-cloaked figure begins causing mischief around Beacon. Stealing people's weapons, beating up upper classmen, and most grievously, ruining Juane's precious comic books. Ruby decides to take preemptive action to stop this doppelganger before an angry mob can form to beat the cookies and rainbows out of her. This Ruby lookalike is actually a berserk robot that Penny had borrowed as a surprise for Ruby. Together, they vanquish this creepy monstrosity right before a an oddly smiling Weiss murders Ruby for getting her sword broken. Honestly, this whole ordeal made no sense, but was surprisingly amusing.
4. Emperor of Mistral - Faunist slavery? Check. Cultural subjugation and attacks on the arts (except for himself). Check. Warmongering to expand his power. Check. Hypocritical booger-eater? Check. In other words, a real bog-sucking meanie-head. Dare I go on? He is only mentioned during the 'World of Remnant' series and so little is known about him other than for these charming traits. Still, I will place him at number 4 due to how well he fits the bill as an obscure villain.
3. The Warrior - An enigmatic servant of Salem, this villain is cut straight out of the 'Fairy Tales of Remnant'. In the story, 'The Infinite Man,' a group of people rally around a hero who is said to reincarnate. This group becomes 'The Circle,' an organization determined to protect humanity from the Grimm and bring peace to the land. And just like the Huntsman Academies that would serve the same role in the future, this society inevitably falls into ruin. The Warrior invades The Circle and challenges the Infinite Man to a battle. Through the ferocity of their fight, great damage is done to the town and The Infinite Man worries that nothing will be left if he continues the fight. This was his last and gravest mistake in that life. After forfeiting his life, The Warrior breaks her promise and kills nearly everyone. There are morals to this tale. But for those, you should read the book.
2. System No. XX - What do you get when you cross GLaDOS from Portal with Ellen DeGeneres (idk, she was the first witty person who came to mind)? This entertainingly psycho computer from the game 'Blaze Blue: Cross Tag Battle'. In it, warriors from four different universes (BlazBlue, Persona 4: Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and of course, RWBY) are trapped in a separate reality and forced to compete for survival in this comedic fighter game. I honestly have no interest in figher games. But the constant humor and surprisingly on-character dialogue from Team RWBY make the game surprisingly entertaining. I also just like how they were still students at the time they were abducted but are still able to kick butt against people like Ragna. ANYWAYS, System No. XX might be manipulative and cutthroat, but they sure know how to bring some levity to survival situations. Combine that with the RWBY-specific ending and they have landed on the number 2 spot for me (banner photo for this post is of Ruby fighting No. XX from this game). Definitely cut from a different circuit board than Penny, at least on the whole enslaving human souls' front.
The Crown - Those of you who have read the RWBY books will know what I am talking about. And those of you who haven't should be reading those books right now instead of this boring blog post. Or even better, listening to it. Following the happenings of Team CFVY after the Fall of Beacon, these books (excluding Roman Holiday) are wrapped up in a conspiracy brewing in Vacou over a mysterious group of people known as The Crown. I will not delve into it hear less I spoil the story, so I encourage any RWBY fan reading this to check it out for themselves. While the events in this book take place in Vacou between volumes 4 and 8, I doubt that Volume 10 will make many references to these events to avoid confusing the 99% of people who have not read these stories. But, I hope they add some easter eggs in at least! But first, we need to Greenlight Volume 10!
For the three of you who were bored enough to read this blog post, thank you! I am done rambling now, goodbye.

In bed early for some extra z’s but before I sleep I just wanted to update everyone that in terms of standard and special ships I won’t be completing those until I finish a Halloween fic that I will post on the 21st. And until then my standard ships will remain closed until I complete every single ship including the Halloween special ones.
So when I have more time I will try and post 1-2 standard ships and 1-2 Halloween ships a day.
You can still request the Halloween ships but please just keep in mind that I will be delayed on starting those especially since the hogwarts ships automatically enter you into the tri Wizard tournament one shot, drabble or headcanon prize draw. So each person will receive one of these if they find the hidden symbol in their hogwarts life ship. You will receive these after I have completed all of the Halloween ships I have in my inbox after the 31st of October.
Because of this I’m setting up a lot more that goes into each hogwarts life ship.
Also for numbers sake even if you’ve requested 2 hogwarts life ships you only get 1 entry into the Tri Wizard Tournament writing event

Hey Az I was wondering if you had any advice on jealousy. Or more “envy” I guess. I know we should write for ourselves and try not to rely on external validation, but I find it so hard. I’m constantly comparing myself to other writers, seeing how many kudos and comments they got, wondering why I don’t measure up. Wondering why certain readers left a super long comment on a certain work and then a short one on mine. I don’t want to be resentful, and I know this feeling is toxic and bred from insecurity. I keep trying to improve and to find new ways to get over this mindset, but nothing seems to be working. I just obsess over why I’m not good enough, why I’m not on rec lists, or why readers stopped commenting when they had previously reacted to every other chapter. It’s embarrassing and pathetic to even type this all out, but I figured you’re the best person to go to with shit like this because you’re so honest. I keep coming to the conclusion that “if I was a better writer then I’d have better statistics, and people would stick with my stories, so I must suck.” I wonder if there is something I’m actually doing wrong technically or if my negative attitude is somehow seeping through the words I write. I don’t know. Maybe I just need therapy. But yes, any tips on how to not see others’ success as my failure?
Thank you so much for even reading this stream of consciousness diary entry. And thank you even more if you respond. xx
Hello lovely. I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply, I've been working my way through these and I wanted to devote a little more time to yours because this is a really common feeling that's rarely discussed.
So, envy and jealously about other writers is, I think, natural given the system used to publish fics (hit counters, kudos, etc...) and also the fact that this fandom is a very loud, wide open space. I've been in very small spaces before, sometimes with five or six people total in the entire ship and that was a very different vibe. I really wish more people get to experience that.
But this fandom and many others are large spaces now and they'll only get bigger so we have this constant comparison, even though not widely acknowledged, of who gets more readers, who gets recced, hits, kudos and comments. It's difficult not to compare, even when you know you shouldn't so what you're feeling is completely valid. External validation for writing can be really important and it's one of the reasons fanfic can be so gratifying, with comments to boost you up along the way.
The thing is, focusing on those elements will only ever harm your self esteem because once you tie your worth to a number, a percentage, literally anything quantifiable and reliant upon people other than yourself, you're doing damage to your mental health and your understanding of what is or isn't "good writing". There are so many beautiful, stunning, fucking life altering stories on AO3 that have a mere handful of kudos and under 100 hits and I don't know why. I don't know what if it's word of mouth, if it's reclists, length, tags, word counts, I have no idea what makes something a "hit", but here's what I do know.
I know that when you don't look at those numbers, when you instead look ahead to your future and where your writing will take you, those numbers really don't mean much. I've had plenty of "flops" and I love them so much, I go back and reread them even after orphaning them and I see that maybe two or three people commented, hardly anyone even read it, but that doesn't matter because I'm already on the next project.
You are good enough. You are so good, you're brilliant. You're unique and you know this too, deep down, otherwise you would never have started writing. What people do or don't respond to is more to do with them and their personal lives than you and your work.
My advice is to never look at other people's specific success numbers and compare. There are only two outcomes of this. Yours will be more and you'll feel good that more people read your work than others - you ego will inflate artificially, it'll be tied to this numerical system. Or, yours will be less and you'll be feel bad that your work wasn't read as much as others was - your sense of worth will shrink, and to remedy this, you'll feel the need to create content that drives up these numbers. This is a toxic spiral, and believe me, I know it very well. I would tell myself, years ago, if I didn't get 25 comments on a new chapter, the chapter was awful. I had the most awful time waiting for comments to hit 25 and I barely even read them.
Give yourself space. Reconnect with your creativity. Fill a journal. Make a playlist. Print out all your good comments and read them and then burn them. Read more, find your inspiration. Be so fucking proud of yourself, love what you make and stay away from those numbers because they make no sense and they never will. Trying to establish self worth from anything less than your own self will always backfire. I know this is super vague, but it's my honest opinion.
More specifically, for you, I want you to know that this feeling is transitional and it'll pass and you're going to look back and think, "Wow, I can't believe I ever cared about that." So hold on, keep going, fuck what anyone else thinks, and make your art, my darling. Good things are coming, I promise.
Az.

A cute boy came into Leblanc today. His hair was totally white, and he seemed really nice, kind of shy. He ordered a coffee, no food though, which was weird since I swear I could hear his stomach rumbling.
I don't know, I guess it's not super interesting. But he just stood out to me. Maybe he's just my type. Maybe he's some kind of anime protagonist. Whatever it is, I hope he comes back again. Maybe I'll get his number next time.

We had such a great evening yesterday, celebrating being shortlisted for the Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize! I didn't win. I didn't expect to. Ian Fisher's magnificent "Wales Dragon Map" very deservedly won. But I felt so honoured to be included in the exhibition at Oriel Môn (Rhosmeirch, Llangefni, Ynys Môn /Anglesey LL77 7TQ) - which is on till 7th July. If you can't make it there in person, all the drawings are here:
Mine's number 61 of the 77 pieces on exhibition (and sale) and shown on this website. Before the prize-giving, we popped into Popty Pizza (just next to Oriel Môn) for a quick change into gladrags and a quick but very delicious pizza. After, we headed over to Bragdy Cybi brewery in Caergybi/Holyhead, where we were made very welcome at an evening of song and comedy (in aid of Swtan, the wonderful c1900 Welsh longhouse at Traeth Swtan/Church Bay). The very best of Welsh hospitality! Diolch yn fawr iawn! Thank you very much! Sam aka LymphomaLass xx

Tarot Project
I think it might be an interesting idea to slowly put together my own tarot deck as a background art project, potentially spanning years. Something in which I can sink creative energy that otherwise gets spent in sputters on many unfinished projects.
I think of the major arcana as orthogonal components in our cultural zeitgeist. (as in Principle Component Analysis). And maybe that's something I explore in the art and symbolism of the deck itself.
Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a statistical technique used in data analysis. It transforms a set of possibly correlated variables into a set of linearly uncorrelated variables called principal components. This is achieved by orthogonal transformation. The first principal component accounts for the most variability in the data, with each subsequent component having a lesser effect. PCA is widely used for dimensionality reduction in data sets, retaining the most important variance features while reducing the overall number of variables.
- GPT4
So first, let's go over the basic structure of a tarot deck.
A standard Tarot deck includes 78 cards. The first 22 are called the Major Arcana. The remaining 56 Minor Arcana cards are divided into four suits (most often called the Wands, the Cups, the Swords, and the Pentacles).
- tarot (dot) com
So it looks like the minor arcana are basically a normal deck of playing cards, except they have four quart cards as opposed to three royal cards. page knight, queen, and king.

I hadn't realized that the major Arcana had a specific order until doing a bit of research for this. as a side note, I think the world depicted in this sequential journey could actually be ideal for the method of loci (also known as a memory palace)
Structure of the deck.
Firstly, we have an ordered list of 23 elements, the Major Arcana.
0 (fool) → 1 (magician) → ... → 22 (world)
This could also be made periodic if we assume
22 (world) → 0 (fool)
Hmm... I could do a thing and get us from 23 to 24 (which is highly composite) by lumping the court cards into an extra Major Arcana as
23. The Court (XXII)
...well, it's an idea but maybe there are some systems that rely on the traditional structure, so let's not make that canon yet.
Secondly, the Minor Arcana has a more nuanced structure as there are three categories, and one of them (suits) is overlapping with the other two.
to be continued...

Xx What I ate/drank today:
Nothing!! Besides a quarter of a Big Gulp full of ice water. And cigarettes... meal of champions.
Diary entry #3:
Took 3 Phen today (112.5mg)... I don't even know why I'm taking them excessively. Fear of hunger? Addictive qualities? My relapse has been going on for a few months now, but it's been really bad this whole week; hence the blog creation. It's just getting worse and worse... Cycles of binging, purging, fasting, exercising, taking laxatives, and recently started overtaking diet pills I was previously prescribed that I had to stop taking due to heart complications and other side effects. What am I thinking? It's starting to scare me and my loved ones. I've only kept 2 meals down in the past 2 weeks (and it was only to ease their concern), fasting for days to weeks at a time, throwing up anything I do eat or drink, scared to even consume water now so I hardly do, I'm constantly lightheaded (to the point of nearly passing out), barely going to the bathroom anymore, nauseous, cold, having headaches and stomachaches, chest pain, excess energy/insomnia, I feel my heartbeat pounding in my chest/throat with a concerningly high heartrate consistently (110-150, average around 130). I'm constantly thinking about food or lack thereof, purging, pills, exercise, my body, and how terrible I feel physically. I'm always counting numbers like calories/other nutritional label facts and steps taken. I'm painfully self-aware that I'm being foolish and endangering myself, but I can't seem to stop engaging in these behaviors. I'm making myself sick and I need help. But I also don't want to stop. Not yet. Not until I get back down to my lowest weight and regain my self-control and discipline. As sick as it is, I missed feeling empty, small, frail, and ill. The pain is almost satisfying. I feel fully consumed by my ed and not much of a person right now, just a disorder. Nobody in my life besides R. and my therapist takes my ed seriously because I'm overweight, so why should I? I've had one since I was a child, would gain and lose the same 30lbs as a teenager, was hospitalized and tubed briefly after fasting for a long period whilst refusing to drink water, did residential, IOP, and PHP for it, lost 90 pounds in less than a year as an adult under the guise of stomach issues, etcetera. My aunt actually encouraged me to take my NG tube out because "I didn't need to gain any more weight". Talking to my therapist about how bad it's getting on Monday, but I'm scared to be hospitalized or even worse—tubed again. xX

Rabbit Fire (1951)
Tumblr media
Moving on to the middle of the XX century, the short film Rabbit Fire directed by Chuck Jones was released for the Warner Bros. In 1951. The first release of the Hunting Trilogy of shorts belonging to the Merrie Melodies series of cartoons.
Technique
There is not much information that I could find about this short in regard to its production techniques, although upon watching the short there is perceptible use of the by now traditional hand-drawn cel animation. A feel of visual stage stiffens is derived from the use of still or panned backgrounds, as there are no perspective changes through the entire run. In the audio department, it is notable to mention the voice acting by Mel Blanc, who was able to do in character impressions of his own characters, a remarkably difficult ability to master inside his profession.
Representation
The short opens with the hunter Elmer Fudd out for the sport in the wilderness. In an attempt to save his own skin, Daffy Duck mischievously tries to take the upper hand in the game by setting up Bugs Bunny into Elmer’s path. Bugs easily discourages Elmer from his hunt when they meet and convinces him it is duck season. It is at this moment that the interaction between the three starts to take place, as Daffy, wanting to be in control of the situation by trying to outwit Bugs, struggles to convince Elmer into hunting for rabbits instead of ducks. Mainly, the two animal characters are just trying to get off the hook from Elmer’s rifle by placing the target on the other. The main gag comes in the various ways Daffy falls victim to Elmer’s gun every time he gets played by his own attempts to fool Bugs into being the hunted target. Through word play and impersonations between the two, all of Daffy’s attempts to be in control backfire, literally, although without any lethal consequences thanks to cartoon immunity to injuries. On the other hand Bugs sharper thinking and overall cleverness keeps him at all times one step ahead and in control of the situation. Elmer falls into being the ignorant character who is easily manipulated and influenced by whatever outcome becomes from Bugs’ and Daffy’s quarrels and disputes. It is not until Elmer takes the initiative to go for both hunt candidates that the duo start working together by using disguises. Daffy takes the role of a hunting dog and Bugs cross-dresses into a woman, trying to enamor and distract Elmer through his travesti but failing as he shortly is able to look through their façade. Being compromised, they go back into arguing about the corresponding hunting season, only to surprisingly and comically find out that it is “Elmer” season. The tables suddenly turn and the hunted become the hunters, where in their final act they impersonate their aggressor closing a full circle with the beginning of the short.

Reception
Once again, there was not much information I could found related to the actual theatrical release and reception, other than it was presented on theaters. The short was re-released with the “Blue-Ribbon” edited format for television later on. It received an honorable mention to the 50 greatest cartoons of all time, although it’s sequel in the trilogy, which is basically the exact same act with different gags, owns a place on the list at number 30. The clever timing of gags combined with ingenious and playful dialogues set the stage for the now classic rivalry between the main characters its characters for the first time in this short and tighten the formula for generations to come.
