30 Days of Yoga With Adriene
30 Days of Yoga With Adriene
Recently, I completed 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene.
Was it easy? Sometimes.
Did I enjoy it? Yes.
Would I carry on? Yes.
Am I carrying on? Yes.
In my younger days, I always used to enjoy exercising (enjoy? Really? Is that the right word. Ok, no. Compelled is probably the right word. I wanted to be fit, and look healthy. I’m also very motivated to remain slim, but I like my…

Healthy Vegan Carrot/Celebration Cake
I developed this cake recipe for my daughter who has many issues reacting to foods, and my clients love it too. It's great because you can eat it without guilt - it's dairy free, egg free, gluten free and vegan. If you make it, let me know your thoughts.
Tumblr media
This cake isn’t the crisp white that people may be used to with a celebration cake, but then it isn’t full of processed sugar either. I like the rustic look of the icing, and it looks especially pretty when decorated with fresh fruit.  If you just want to eat it as a wholesome but plain carrot cake, make it without the icing, and if you want something extra special for an occasion, double up the…

Compared to some therapies, clients coming to see me for an initial appointment may feel like they are paying more than they would for physiotherapy or massage.
“Why’s it so expensive just to get some direction with healthy eating? I could go to Slimming World and it would only cost me a few pounds.“
The thing is, nutritional therapy is not just about…

POTATO PASTRY
This pastry is adapted from a Hairy Dieters recipe in their GO VEGGIE cookbook. It is delicious and counts towards your daily vegetables (if using sweet potato or parsnips) and is more nutrient dense (the buckwheat is a complete protein).  Also, although I don’t advocate using great quantities of oil, the coconut oil used also has nutritional benefits.  At Christmas time, I used this recipe…

Are Modern Communications a Burden to Family Life?
Does having the technology to work flexibly from home make it easier or harder on families?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Photo by Patrick Slade on Unsplash
The 2020 Modern Families Index found that 44% of parents check their emails or do other work at night. Of those, three quarters said they did not have a choice, an increase since the study was carried out last year. And that is causing tension at home with more than half of respondents saying it led to arguments with their children or partner. The report said…

Is Nutritional Therapy a Quick Fix?
People often want a quick fix to improve their health. Is nutritional therapy one of them?
There isn’t a simple explanation for this, as the answer is both yes and no.
Yes because many of my clients do see improvements in their health within a few weeks of their first consultations with me, especially those who come with what are classed as more ‘minor’ complaints. Even those with more serious issues find that they quickly feel the benefits of eating more healthily.

Microbial Diversity and The Sun
Microbial Diversity and The Sun
We all know the benefits of being out in the sun. It gives us a high dose of (crucial-to-our-health) vitamin D, which is important for our mood, energy, sleep, bone health, immunity, etc, etc. It’s such a vital vitamin that if we don’t get enough of it, we really feel the consequences. Sadly, these days, it’s known that just about everyone in the UK is vitamin D deficient (or has suboptimal…

It was fantastic to see that Tandle Hill was one of the shortlisted hotspots for the best autumn walks in Greater Manchester. Although we’ve made it many of the places on the list, Tandle hill is one of our family’s favourite places to head out on a crisp Sunday afternoon. If you haven’t been, make sure you do. More Microbiome Amazingness!
The human gut, or digestive tract, is home to trillions of microorganisms, including more than 1,000 species of bacteria. These microbes play crucial roles in health and disease.

Good Nutrition is Your Superpower
We all start off in life as superheroes, but the Standard Western Diet is our human Kryptonite. Over time, poor dietary habits make us sick, tired and weak. Sadly, many of us feel old before our time. This talk is about getting your superpowers back.
I’ll be at Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre on Sunday 15th September for the Mind Body Spirit festival doing a free talk on Good Nutrition is Your Superpower. Details of the talk are in the video below. If you can make it, it would be lovely to meet you and answer any questions. The talk starts at 10am, but I’ll be there all day at my stall, and there will be some special offers.
“We all…
