The path we are on as a country is not sustainable. Either there will be reforms enacted to help people live, or this country will collapse under the weight of its own contradictions.

Promoting a permanent ceasefire is an act of love!

As we celebrate love this Valentine's Day, we must dedicate ourselves to teaching boys and men that their emotions are valid and to give them the tools to embrace, listen to, name, and process their emotions and to do the same for others. If we want men to be safer, responsive, and authentic lovers and partners, we must, as a society, promote healthy emotional relationships with others and with ourselves.

The thing about this type of argument that always gets me is the accusation of jealousy. It's projection.
I don't want $200 million. I don't think anyone should have that much money. If I somehow came into that amount of money, I would want to give most of it to causes that I care about like domestic violence shelters or feeding the hungry and make sure my nieces and nephews have secure futures.
Some people seemingly cannot fathom that other people do not see wealth accrual as a worthwhile--or even moral--life goal.

As someone with mental health issues, I really resent this type of sentiment. It's unnecessary, it stigmatizes mental health, and it does nothing to persuade people to not vote for Trump.
We need to do better than this.

Please call your Representative and Senators and tell them to call for a ceasefire and do everything they can to get the hostages freed and end this awful nightmare. What happened on October 7th was awful and criminal. That does not excuse the mass killing of tens of thousands of Gazans along with their mass displacement.
Most Gazans do not have adequate shelter, feminine hygiene products, food, medicine, and clean water. Nearly all are displaced. Only a small percentage of the needed humanitarian aid is reaching them. People are dying from preventable conditions because the few remaining hospitals are only partially functioning and lack supplies. This cannot happen without America's diplomatic and military backing.
Your voice and actions matter. Please help.

With every passing day, it is harder and harder to argue that--at the very least--the end goal is not the total ethnic cleansing of Gaza.

We tend to focus on the number of people who have died and been displaced, and we absolutely should do that. It's important to remember, though, that the ripple effects of the violence, death, and destruction are incalculable, not to mention the collective and individual trauma.

for anyone who isn’t aware, friendsofthecongo.org/campaigns contains a list of actions you can take to help the democratic republic of congo, including pdfs of postcards you can print and send to a list of tech companies to tell them to stop using child miners AND a letter you can sign and send to your reps (+ potentially incorporate the main points of that letter into any scripts you might already be using for emails or calls to your reps!). friends of the congo also has a volunteer application form and a youtube channel

Sometimes, I wonder if self-help would even be a thing if we lived in a more collectivist society. The existence of whole sections of bookstores and corners of YouTube dedicated to self-help, are these not just products of the society we live in?
I feel like if we had more of a sense of community, self-help would be an exotic concept. Instead, it would be customary to rely on each other and both ask for help and give it freely to others. There would be no shame in receiving a helping hand because, ultimately, we are nothing without each other, and when one of us suffers, we all do.

People will tell you that wanting everyone to have food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, clean water, and education is a radical political stance, but to me, it is a desire borne out of being a caring, compassionate person who wants to end human suffering.
Wanting to make sure everyone's needs are taken care of is radical only in an individualistic society that worships at the alter of personal responsibility and judges whether people are worthy of having their needs met in the courtroom of meritocracy.
