How the FUCK is that not front page news.

I'm so disappointed that the news doesn't seem to care at all. If this was happening to a majority white Christian country everyone would know about this.

They're also censoring people who use these tags on X. Sudanese creators and activists who are talking about their experiences -and often not able to share extensive details about their sufferings because if they do, they could be killed for sharing information. Saying 'genocide' is getting their posts flagged and accounts banned too. We need to be talking about this too.

Why on earth is anyone taking this shoddy cass review seriously?

I'm sorry but it's baffling how an actual government is uncritically taking this review at face value. It literally only comes to the conclusion it does because it ignore literally all other evidence. They excluded a shit ton of studies because they didn't have enough controls, which sounds reasonable but in order to have those controls they'd have to unknowingly give patients placebos instead of the hormonal therapy and puberty blockers they asked for.

That would be an extremely unethical thing to do, and would achieve nothing because the effects of hormonal therapy and puberty blockers are extremely obvious.

Just let that sit with you for a moment. All that clinical evidence completely thrown out the window because they didn't do a horrific and unethical test on their patients. All that clinical evidence ignored because the study was ethical. This is an extreme oversight at BEST and deliberate misinformation at worst. Either way, it makes the review extremely unreliable.

That's just one issue. But the fact that the vast, VAST majority of research was completely ignored due to a ridiculous and unethical requirement should be enough for you to oppose anyone using this as evidence for anything other than why queer people need to be included in scientific discussions about our communities. Because this review is being used to roll back LGBT rights.

About the mentally disabled Palestinians murdered

I strongly support spreading awareness and honouring the memory of disabled Palestinians killed in the genocide. I am not at all against mentioning their identity as disabled people, because a lot of the time it is related to their deaths.

But please, I am begging you, be respectful.

Eyad Al-Hallaq was a 32 year old Palestinian Deaf Autistic man. He was murdered on his way to his school, the Elwyn El Quds center, which provides services for both disabled children and disabled adults. An Israeli officer shot him dead on the 30th of May in 2020, and then claimed he thought he was trying to murder a woman who was screaming. I have also seen it be claimed the officer thought he was a terrorist because he was wearing gloves.

Some people, while trying to honestly spread awareness, have used extremely disrespectful and infantilising language to describe him, repeating claims he had "the mental capacity of an 8 year old" and saying that his doctor said that, when it was not.

This is never an acceptable way to describe a 32 year old Autistic. He did not have "the brain of a child", he had the brain of a Deaf Autistic adult. This is extremely disrespectful to Eyad Al-Hallaq, and does him no favours, especially when such rhetoric has been used to justify the murder of Autistics. Eyad Al-Hallaq being an adult man should not make him less of a victim- not only is insisting on treating him like a child disrespectful and ableist, it perpetuates the idea that Palestinian men are not victims.

We should remember Eyad Al-Hallaq. We should remember his identity as a Deaf Palestinian Autistic. And we should remember him in a respectful way.

Rest in power, Eyad Al-Hallaq.

If Netanyahu's aim is to destroy Hamas, he's doing a pathetic job, which is extraordinary considering the IDF's firepower and the chokehold it has on Gaza. But that's not his aim is it.

We've seen how the IDF can take out one room of a building while leaving the rest standing.

Yet they don't do that for kindergartens or hospitals, schools or refugee camps.

The government has said it themselves: they want damage, not precision.

No one is on Netanyahu's side anymore. The world is demanding ceasefire. Don't give up. Keep talking. keep marching.
