I don’t know if any of you guys have checked out the new Marvel game Midnight Suns but holy shit it’s so fun!
Also, I love love LOVE how much they hint towards Wanda and your character (Hunter) being a thing. I’m assuming Marvel said no explicit romance between the OC and the established characters, but they hint at it A LOT
But besides that, it’s a really fun RPG. And the card playing aspect isn’t something I’m used to in games, but it’s actually pretty cool. Makes you use your brain more lol

Y/n: Why are you guys talking like that? And how come I never get the cool jobs to do!?
Vision: Well, you sometimes have difficulty comprehending the complexities of certain tasks.
Y/n:...Huh?
Wanda: You do not understand how to carry out some assignments.
Y/n:...What?
Sam: You don't know how to do a lot of stuff, Y/n/n.
Y/n:...Excuse me?
Natasha: You're not smart.
Y/n: WHAT!? Yes I am! I get smarter-er everyday!

Y/n: I'm texting Wanda, I'm gonna ask her to dinner. How should I text it? 'Let's get dinner?' or 'Do you want to get dinner?'
Scott: Go with 'Let's get dinner', so you're like assertive and confident.
Y/n: For sure.
...
Kate: Actually, no, now you sound a little aggressive. You don't want to be like 'LET'S GET DINNER' like some sort of caveman.
Steve: You're supposed to ask her to dinner, not tell her to dinner.
Clint: Just say 'do you wanna get dinner?'
Y/n: Perfect.
...
Yelena: Actually, wait, now you sound kinda like a pussy.
Y/n: This is tough.
Peter: Last thing you wanna be is overly masculine, like 'LET'S GET DINNER! I'M THE BREADWINNER BITCH!'
Bucky: But women also love assertiveness.
Kamala: Say 'Dinner would be something that I would enjoy taking you on, if you were also interested in attending the meal.'
Carol: The more words the better.
Kamala: No wait, say 'I would like nothing more than to take you to the finest restaurant in town for a lovely meal that we call dinner, M'lady'
Y/n: Should I send that in a voice memo?
Sam: Fuck that! Say 'Dinner tonight, 7pm. Take it or leave it, you bitch!' Cause she's playing games now. Sign it, seal it, deliver it.
Tony: I don't know why girls gotta be so difficult all the time.
...
Y/n: I'm not saying that.
Everyone else: Yeah, definitely don't say that.

Where She Belongs
Tumblr media
Summary: Wanda’s constant fighting with her boyfriend has started to wear Y/n down, especially since she’s watching from the sidelines desperately in love with her best friend. It sucked, but she learned to deal with it. That is until one fight changes everything.
Word Count: 3,500
Genre: Angst w/ happy ending, Modern AU
Warnings: Unhealthy relationship, cheating
A/N: I got another one-shot ready for you kids after 1,000 years lol. Happy reading!
--------------------------------------
“No, Vis, come on. This is the third time this month you’ve done this.”
You wanted to roll your eyes. This was hardly the first time you’ve witnessed your best friend in a phone war like this.
Vision’s mumbled voice reached your ears through the redhead’s phone, likely giving some lame excuse for his behavior. You turned back to your laptop and continued your work, only hoping this would end soon.
“I know that’s a bunch of bullshit!...No, I know you don’t always have to work that late.....I know him too, and I know if you even tried to explain, he’d let you off....No, you never do! You haven’t in forever, and I deserve better than this!”
God, not a truer sentence has ever been said.
But you’ve been through this cycle enough times to know that Wanda wouldn’t truly believe her own words.
Giving up the hope you had of this coming to an end, you decided to just remove yourself to the situation. You had a deadline after all, you needed to focus.
You picked up your laptop with one hand, gesturing at it to Wanda with the other, indicating that you were just gonna finish in the other room. She acknowledged you with a halfhearted nod before returning her attention to the douche on the phone. Taking your cue to leave, you reached your bedroom, shutting the door behind you.
Why were you even isolating yourself? This is your apartment.
Standing your ground wasn’t worth it though, you knew better than to get in the middle of a WandaVision screaming match.
Sucks that your own living room had to become the ring for this fight, but whatever.
You weren’t sure how much time had past, but if you had to guess about an hour, when you heard a knock at your door. Your gaze didn’t leave your laptop as you let out a noise of acknowledgement, telling Wanda to come in.
She entered your room and sat on your bed, wordlessly. When you felt the bed dip beside you, you finally shifted your gaze. “Sorry about that.”
You shrugged it off, silently telling her it was fine. “You alright?” You asked, cutting to the chase.
“Yeah, just...he’s missing date night...again.” You hummed at the answer, not at all surprised by it. “What’s that?”
“What’s what?”
“The ‘Mmm’.“ Wanda imitated your hum, mocking your tone, and you couldn’t help but chuckle at it.
“I don’t know, just... ‘Mmm’“ You hummed again with a shrug.
“You don’t sound happy.”
“Why would I be happy?” You asked, almost incredulous at her statement. “I hate seeing you go through this Wands, like you said, you deserve better than this.”
It was Wanda’s turn to hum in acknowledgement. She knew it was true, but there wasn’t much she could say to you about the situation at the moment. She let out a sigh as she fell back on your bed, your gaze on her not wavering. “I don’t know, it’s just one of those days with him.”
You hummed again as your gaze leaves her to return to your laptop. ‘One of those days’ is a phrase you’re pretty familiar with. Still, you knew not to voice your true thoughts about it or her boyfriend. It’s brought you nothing of value in the past.
“How’s your paper coming?” Deflection. You knew it too well. It’s not that Wanda didn’t care about your studies, you knew she did, but you’ve also known her long enough to tell the difference between the deflection and genuine interest.
Still, you decided to answer. “Rough, but I’m almost done. Professor Xavier doesn’t fuck around.”
“Well, you are in law school, so it probably should be a little hard.” You chuckled at Wanda’s remark.
“Good point, Maximoff.” You conceded while closing your laptop. “But I think two and a half pages is more than enough for one day. Pacing myself and all that.”
“Sure thing, your honor.”
“That’s a judge.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Wanda waved off and you chuckled again. Before you can speak again though, your phone went off, signaling a text. You picked up your phone, taking a moment to read it. After you did, you let out a sigh, catching Wanda’s attention.
“What is it?”
“It’s Matt, he’s asking for help with his speech for Richard’s class.” You checked your phone, seeing that it was only eight o’clock. “I’m gonna head over.”
“Boooo.” Wanda jeered.
“You’ll be fine.” You laughed. “I wouldn’t wait up for me though.”
“I’ll lock the door on the way out.”
“Atta girl.” You playfully winked before grabbing your keys and heading out.
Wanda watched you go, and when the door clicked shut, she fell back onto your bed with another sigh.
---------------------------------------------
A few days later, you saw yourself in the same position you’ve been in. Hunched over your laptop, trying to grind out the last few pages of your final paper.
The only difference now is you were extremely tired. You didn’t take your own ‘pace yourself’ advice, opting to grind out your last five pages in one day. You were stressed, exhausted, irritated, but you were determined. You were gonna get this done tonight and nothing was gonna stop you.
“No! I’m not gonna calm the fuck down!” You heard the familiar voice yell outside your door and you audibly groaned.
“You gotta be fucking joking.”
The heard the sound of the key mechanism going, knowing Wanda was using the key you gave her to get in. Before you knew it, she was in your apartment, still on the other end of yet another phone war.
“I don’t care, okay? I just don’t-” In the silence of her waiting for his response, you slammed your laptop shut. No way you could get any more work done now, and you were pretty annoyed about it. “No it’s not-....Well then just-... Alright forget it! I don’t need this!” And with that, she hung up the phone, throwing it across the room to the couch.
You rubbed your hands down your face in annoyance. You were really not in the mood to deal with this right now.
You heard her footsteps get closer, eventually plopping herself down on the chair next to you.
“Sorry about that.” You wanted to roll your eyes, but just barely contained yourself this time.
“Used to it.” Unfortunately, you couldn’t hold back your annoyance, and Wanda caught on.
“What do you mean?”
You scoffed. “What do you mean ‘what do I mean?’. This happens all the time Wanda.”
“You think I don’t know that?” Wanda’s confusion at your tone started to shift towards annoyance. “I wish this wasn’t happening, but Vis-”
“Look, to be honest with you, I don’t really care.” You cut her off. “Whatever he’s doing, or whatever you’re going through I just don’t want to hear it. Not now.”
It was Wanda’s turn to scoff. “Wow, some friend you are.”
Your gaze snapped up at her at that, disbelief and anger painting your features. “Some friend I am!? Some friend you are! I’m trying to finish the paper that my entire degree depends on, and here you are bulldozing in with this! Actually, seems like the only time you come over now is to complain about your prick of a boyfriend!”
“Whoa! That is so not true!”
“It’s not? When’s the last time we hung out, just the two of us, without this?”
As she thought on it, Wanda knew she couldn’t give a decent answer. But her stubbornness wouldn’t let her admit it to you, so she just continued in the fight. “This is what a relationship looks like, Y/n. Fights happen. And you never liked Vision anyway, honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you wanted us to fail.”
“I want you to be happy, and I’m sorry Wanda, but Jarvis ain’t the guy that’s making you happy.”
“Oh, and who would that be then!?” You didn’t answer. You knew what you wanted to scream out, but you held your tongue as you diverted your gaze. “What would you even know about being happy with someone anyway, huh? You haven’t even been on a date in a year.”
“I’ve been a little busy Wanda.”
“Oh, suuuree. That’s the excuse now, but what about when this ends?” Wanda knew she was digging herself a hole that would be hard to get out of. She knew it in her mind, but she couldn’t get her mouth to stop moving. And she was about to really wish she was able to. “Ever since Nat cheated on your sorry ass, you’ve been avoiding dating, but y’know what? I think you’re just finally accepting the fact that you’re gonna die alone!”
Silence filled the room at that. You looked at her in shock, and Wanda diverted her gaze to the wall, also in shock at her own hurtful words.
Tears began to fill in your eyes, but you took a deep breath to keep it together. After a few moments of silence, you spoke up. “Good to know what you really think.”
“Y/n, I-”
“Get out.” You said firmly.
“Y/n/n-”
“Now.” You said again. When you looked into her eyes, Wanda knew it was best to heed your words and left your place without another word.
After the door closed, you let out the breath you’d been holding, and letting the tears fall.
But you weren’t gonna wallow for long, no. It hurt, but you’re not gonna let Wanda’s words tear you down. In fact, if anything, you were determined to prove her wrong.
Who the hell does she think she is?
You wiped your tears away, regaining your composure, and grabbed your phone. You hit the number you were looking for, waiting for the person to pick up.
“Hey Matt, so that Jennifer girl you were telling me about, you have her number?”
----------------------------------------------
Two Weeks Later
Why? Why did she have to be an idiot and say that?
It was cruel, untrue, and just one of the biggest mistakes Wanda’s made in recent memory.
She still felt guilty for what she said to you and how she acted. Wanda knew there was truth to what you were saying deep down, and the more she thought on it, she knew she hasn’t been the best friend to you lately because of her mess of a relationship.
But because of her hardheadedness, she might’ve lost one of the best things going in her life.
She hasn’t seen or heard from you since that day. Not for lack of trying, though. She gave you that first day to yourself, considering how mad and hurt you were since you kicked her out, she figured trying to talk to you wouldn’t be a good idea.
Not to mention that she was trying to come to terms with what happened herself.
But after that, every attempt she made at contacting you was futile. Eventually, her calls went straight to voicemail, telling her that you blocked her.
She wanted to just go over to your place so bad, but she knew how bad of an idea that would be. She didn’t want to make your, ever diminishing, trust in her fade completely.
She just had to give you time. No matter how hard that would be.
In the meantime, she had to deal with things with her and Vision.
The fighting had stopped, but not for any good reason. Wanda just didn’t have the energy to keep fighting for him, and of course Vision didn’t care enough to notice. He was just happy to no longer be ‘nagged at’ about things his words.
She needed fresh air. She’s been stuck in her apartment the last few days with her thoughts running wild, a change of scenery would be good.
Plus Vision was supposed to come over, but since he’s about an hour late at this point, she can just forget that.
Not bothering to freshen up, she got off the bed with a grunt and headed to her door. Grabbing her bag and keys, she opened the door and was about to head out, but was met with a sight that stopped her in her tracks.
Right in the middle of the hallway, outside her own door, was her darling boyfriend making out with some girl against the wall.
Un-fucking-believable.
She cleared her throat loudly, causing the pair to break apart in shock. Upon seeing her face, Wanda recognized the girl as a co-worker of Vis- Jarvis’.
No wonder he was always ‘working late’.
“Baby!” Jarvis exclaimed, trying to hide the very obvious fact that he was caught. Wanda couldn’t contain her eyeroll.
She would be more upset and heartbroken if he at all had been a decent boyfriend to her, but the only thing she could feel was annoyance and disappointment.
Annoyance at the cheater in front of her, disappointment in herself for putting up with him for so long.
She didn’t even entertain a response to him. She decided the best reaction was no reaction at all.
At least she could give him a bruised ego.
She calmly turned to lock her door behind her and walked away. “Lose my number, Jarvis.” Was all she said to him as she left.
She ignored the shouts of her name.
-------------------------------------------------
She’s been wandering outside for a few hours now when her feelings finally kicked in.
But it still wasn’t about her cheating boyfriend, at least not in the way she knew it probably should be.
It was about you.
She knew the sick sense of karma the universe gave her. She threw your ex cheating in your face, and only a short time later, she got cheated on herself.
Maybe she deserved it, she didn’t know.
All she knew was that she missed you terribly. And not in the way she normally did.
She hasn’t seen or talked to you in weeks. That’s the longest you two have been apart in the years you’ve known each other. But as much as she hated this space, it helped her put some things in perspective.
1) Jarvis was a dick and you were right the whole time
2) She’s been a shitty friend to you recently and you deserved better from her
And the most important revelation:
3) She was in love with you
Wanda’s always been attracted to you, she knew that the minute she met you. She even developed a bit of a crush on you in the beginning, but shortly after you met, you started seeing Natasha, and the romantic feelings quickly faded into platonic ones.
Or so she thought.
But you were dating Natasha for a while, and then she met Jarvis, and then...yeah. Here we are.
She didn’t know where she wanted to go, but her body must’ve been on autopilot and read her mind, because she ended up outside your apartment building.
Looking up at the building, she stood for a few moments before saying ‘fuck it’ and entering.
---------------------------------------------
“I had a really great time tonight.”
“Yeah, me too.”
You had decided to call up Matt’s friend Jennifer Walters after your fight with Wanda, and you were surprised to find that you two hit it off really well. After about two weeks, you decided to take her out and the date went well.
Maybe a little too well if Jen’s messed up hair was anything to go by.
But as fun as you had with her, your mind was still preoccupied. You knew you couldn’t commit to something serious with her, and you knew she deserved the truth.
“Hey, listen...I like you a lot, and I had a lot of fun with you, I did, but to be honest...I don’t think I’m ready for anything right now.
“Oh, I know.” Jen’s response shocked you, and she laughed at your reaction. “Matt told me about your situation.”
“My situation?”
“Yeah, that you’re in love with your best friend and all.”
You didn’t think it was possible for you to look more confused, but you managed to do it.
Were you really that obvious?
“Uh, what? I- um, I’m....I’m not-”
“Relax, your secrets safe.” Jen laughed as she finished buttoning up her shirt. “But in all seriousness, you should tell her.”
“She’s spoken for.” You rolled your eyes at the thought, but contained yourself from venting about it. “Besides, I highly doubt she’d want me anyway. She’s said some...things.”
Jen wanted to ask about it, but she could tell you were still hurt by whatever it was, so she decided against it. “Well, maybe it’s just something that’ll be worth the wait.”
“Eh, I don’t know.” You shrugged “Thanks though.”
Jen nodded “And thanks for being honest with me about how you felt. You’re sweet.”
“I try.” You shrugged, earning a chuckle from Jen as she stood up and headed to the door.
“Call me?” Your confusion returned at that.
“I, uh-”
“Just cause we aren’t doing this” Jen said with a gesture towards your messed up bed. “Anymore, doesn’t mean you can get rid of me. I happen to like you, L/n.”
“I happen to like you too, Walters.” You said as you opened the door for her. “I’ll see you around.” With that, Jen left, and you closed the door before collapsing on your couch.
Your mind started drifting off to Wanda, as it usually did. But you couldn’t think for too long before there was a knock at your door.
You chuckled while getting up. “What, did you forget something?” You said while opening the door, expecting to see Jen on the other side.
To say you were shocked to see Wanda would be an understatement.
“W-Wanda?”
She didn’t respond as she took in your appearance. Messed up hair and clothes, flushed skin, not to mention the mark on your neck.
Wanda felt her heart sink.
This was the second part of her karma. She said you would die alone, and you went out and proved you wouldn’t.
“I uh...I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-”
“No.” You cut her off, causing her to snap her gaze to you. “No, it’s okay, I...come in.”
After a moment of contemplation, Wanda nodded and entered your place.
“Do you want anything? Water, or...?” You trailed off, finding it odd to treat someone who practically lived here like a brand new guest.
“No, I’m okay, I just wanted to talk to you.
You nodded and gestured to the couch, signaling for you two to sit. “Sure.”
Sitting on the couch, you sat in awkward silence for a moment. You weren’t sure if you should talk first. Not that you knew what to say anyway.
Thankfully, Wanda decided to speak up. “First things first, I wanna say I’m sorry.”
“Wanda, it’s-”
“Wait, let me finish. Please.” The soft, vulnerable tone made you relent with a nod. “I’m sorry, so fucking sorry for what I said. I was completely out of line, and I want you to know I didn’t mean a word of it. You’re an amazing...friend, you didn’t at all deserve to be cheated on, and you definitely won’t die alone. I mean...” She trailed off with a gesture towards your neck, causing you to cover it and laugh shyly.
“Oh, uh, yeah, I don’t know...but thank you for saying that Wanda, I appreciate it.” You lowered your hand and positioned yourself to be able to look at her more clearly. “And look, about Vision-”
“You were right.” Wanda cut you off, causing you to look confused.
“Huh?”
“You were right about him, he’s not the one for me. He...I caught him cheating on me.”
“Oh...Wanda I’m so sorry.” You looked at her with compassion, and Wanda swore she almost fell for you harder. You hated the guy and their relationship, but all you wanted was for her to be happy.
God, why hadn’t she realized this sooner?
You were where she belonged, who she needed.
She could only hope you felt the same.
Letting her emotions take over, she leaned in and kissed you. It was hard and quick, and you barely had time to react to it. Apparently, you took too long to react, because Wanda pulled away in a panic.
“I’m so sorry! Oh my god, what was I thinking? I...I should go.” Wanda stood quickly and went to leave, causing your brain to finally wake up.
“Wait! Wait, wait-” You said quickly, getting up to follow her. And during your little ‘wait’ chant, you reached her and kissed her back with the same ferocity she did.
Wanda was shocked, but didn’t hesitate like you did. She kissed you back, arms coming up to wrap around your neck, while yours went around her waist. After a few moments, the need to breathe pulled you apart.
“I love you.” You both said simultaneously, causing you both to smile so wide that the next kiss you tried was all teeth, but you didn’t care.
You were both right where you belonged.

Chapter 4: Voices In My Head
Alright, I guess the tags hate my story as this is the SECOND time the chapter doesn’t end up there 😒
So here is Chapter 4 of To Find A Home. Enjoy!
Chapter Summary: Y/n is determined to spend some quality time with Wanda, but something…or someone is proving to make that difficult.
--------------------------
Wanda sat in her cell, waiting for your return patiently.
She couldn’t help the growing excitement that she felt with each passing moment. Maybe she was getting ahead of herself, but she hasn’t had any real moments with anyone in years. Excuse her for being a little over eager at the prospect of spending quality time with someone she’s quickly grown to care about.
Okay, maybe she was waiting a little impatiently.
After what felt like days, but was probably only the hours that you insisted on, you returned. She sat up straight on her bed, perking up at the sight of your figure getting closer to her cell.

Chapter Summary: Y/n is determined to spend some quality time with Wanda, but something...or someone is proving to make that difficult.
Word Count: 2,180
A/N: Welcome to Chapter 4 everyone! Just wanted to point out here, (and I guess **Spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder**) The Necronomicron and what’s infecting Y/n has absolutely nothing to do with the Necro-sword in the movie and what happened with Gorr. I watched it again and realized how similar the two were and how it could possibly confuse people, so I just wanted to make it clear here that there’s no association. Also, the Necronomicron is an actual magical book from the comics, but what I’m doing with it here isn’t what it is in the comics. The only similarities are the name, and that it can be used to bring back the dead (kinda, I think), but everything else is my own...creative liberties. Alright, enough talking. Back to it!
To Find A Home: Series Masterlist
Wanda sat in her cell, waiting for your return patiently.
She couldn’t help the growing excitement that she felt with each passing moment. Maybe she was getting ahead of herself, but she hasn’t had any real moments with anyone in years. Excuse her for being a little over eager at the prospect of spending quality time with someone she’s quickly grown to care about.
Okay, maybe she was waiting a little impatiently.
After what felt like days, but was probably only the hours that you insisted on, you returned. She sat up straight on her bed, perking up at the sight of your figure getting closer to her cell.
You held two DvD cases in your hands, waving them as you approached. “Okay, I found two. Dick Van Dyke or Malcolm in the Middle. Take your pick.”
She thought on it for a brief moment before answering. “Dick Van Dyke. It’s a classic, and I think you’ll like it.”
“Well, it’s a bit of an off-putting name not gonna lie, but I’ll trust your judgement.” You chuckled, but Wanda tilted her head in confusion. After thinking on it a bit, it dawned on her how the actor’s name sounded to someone who had never heard of him before.
“Oh.” She breathed out a small laugh when it finally clicked. “Yes, I suppose it is.” You smiled when she caught on, laughing with her.
You looked around the cell wall for a moment, but it was long enough for Wanda to grow curious. “What are you doing?”
“Well, I gotta get in there, don’t I?”
In her excitement, Wanda didn’t stop to think of the technicalities of the two of you being separated by the magical cell wall. She knew you were smart, and maybe you were able to break into normal jail cells, but this was magic.
Given how many times you’ve made fun of magic in your short time here, she knew you were naïve to it.
Sighing in disappointment, Wanda slumped on her bed slightly. “Oh, that’s right.”
“What’s wrong?” You asked, confused by her sudden shift in mood.
“The magic containing me. You can’t get in.” Wanda knew it was a bit silly to be upset about this. This cell was simply the consequences of her actions, consequences that she knew were light considering all the things she’s done.
She shouldn’t be upset that she couldn’t watch tv with someone who was practically a stranger, but she couldn’t help the disappointment.
Still, you could continue the conversations that you have been-
Hey, what were you doing?
She watched with furrowed brows as you approached the wall and put your hand to it, closing your eyes to focus. She was about to vocalize her question to you, but the words stopped in her throat when she saw those orange sparks flow from your fingers.
The magic of the cell wall began to spark and glitch out, and only a few seconds later, the cell wall shut down completely, with orange streams of energy flowing from your hand up your arm and into your chest.
Wanda sat there, eyes shot up slightly at the display. She wasn’t at all new to people with extraordinary powers, but she wasn’t expecting someone that she thought was mostly just another version of Spider-Man, to be able to tear down magic like it was nothing.
“There we go!” You cheerful voice brought her out of her stupor. “Magic or not, everything runs on some sort of energy.” You smiled as you finally stepped over the threshold where the wall used to be.
This was the first time Wanda was really seeing you, she realized. You don’t realize how much a yellow tinted magic wall distorts someone’s features, but it clearly does, because this feels like the first time she’s meeting you.
And it’s clear you’re feeling the same way if the way you completely stopped to stare at her was any indication.
Before the moment of silence could become to awkward or obvious, you turned your attention back where the cell wall was. “Um, yeah...anyway.” You mumbled out, confidence from only a moment ago completely gone.
Wanda couldn’t help but smile slightly at that.
You held your arm out, the magic you just absorbed traveling back out of your arm, shooting out of your hand. The cell wall reappeared, looking as though it hadn’t been tampered with in the first place.
“What’s that?” Wanda asked, looking at your still glowing hand.
“Bio-electricity. Basically, I can absorb energy, but I also gotta expel it somehow. Works great in the battlefield, takes out people pretty fast. My friend...” You started to explain, but trailed off suddenly. “My...my friend...”
“Ganke, right?”
There it was again. That creepy voice in your head. You didn’t understand, you thought you got rid of that when you dropped the book.
“Ganke Lee, hmm he seemed like a good guy. He named your little sparkle power, yes?”
You froze, your vision became unfocused as you listened. Though for Wanda, your sudden dissociation confused and worried her. “Y/n?” She tentatively asked, but you paid her no mind.
“Venom Strike...catchy. Though, I’m not exactly fond of the word ‘Venom’. Call it...triggering, as you humans say nowadays.”
“Y/n!?” Wanda tried again, louder this time. She reached a hand out to gently grab your shoulder, trying to shake you out of this trance you were in. Thankfully, it worked, as your eyes snapped up to hers. “What happened?”
“I...uh...” You hesitated, not exactly sure if you could describe it even if you wanted to. “I’m...I’m not sure.” You answered with a shake of your head, as if you can shake that voice from your head and snap out of it.
Wanda gave you a once over in concern. “Are you okay?”
Finally snapping out of it fully, you turned your attention to the witch. “Yeah, yeah I’m good.” You put a smile on your face in an effort to reassure her you were okay, but Wanda was quick to notice it didn’t reach your ears like your smiles usually do.
Wanda wasn’t dumb, she knew something was seriously off. However, she wouldn’t push.
“Let’s get to watching now, shall we?” You popped in the DVD and took a seat on Wanda’s bed, ready to start. The witch joined you after a moments hesitation.
Pretty soon after, you hit play, starting the episode. As it progressed, Wanda noticed your rapt attention on it and let herself relax, figuring whatever episode you just had was over. If nothing else, she should just let herself enjoy this time with you.
Little did she know, you couldn’t pay attention to a single word.
----------------------------------------------
After a few hours of sitcom indulgence, you left Wanda feeling...odd.
You enjoyed her company, and seeing her brighten up while watching one of her favorite shows Was definitely worth the deep dive you had to do to find those DVDs.
Too bad you couldn’t bring yourself to enjoy it with her.
All you had on your mind was that voice.
Why was it there? What did it want? Most importantly, how do you get rid of it?
“You want to get rid of me? Why would you want to do that?”
You did your best to ignore it, opting to busy yourself with a walk through the halls of Kamar Taj. Maybe America wanted another training session or something-
“Why would you get rid of me when I can help you get back everything you lost?”
You stopped in your tracks.
Well, that got your attention.
You paused for a minute, letting the words sink in. You took a quick peek around, making sure you were alone before you did something you hadn’t dared to do yet.
You engaged.
“What are you talking about?” You said out loud, softly.
“What do you think I’m talking about, Y/n? The book you got me from, why did you pick it up in the first place?”
“I...I shouldn’t have, it was a weak moment.”
“That’s just what magical hacks like this ‘Dr. Strange’ want you to believe. Picking up that book was the smartest thing you’ve done since you landed here.”
“It’s a fantasy...Everything I know is gone. I just have to accept that.”
“Accepting defeat sounds more like it. I can help you, Y/n. Everything you’ve lost can be yours again.”
You were a pretty rational person, a scientific mind. You often led with logic, both in your normal and superhero lives. However, your life had turned upside down in the most drastic way in a matter of seconds, and ever since then every rational thought you’ve ever had was second guessed.
You learned of the existence of other worlds, magic, sorcerers and witches. Things you wouldn’t have ever thought to have been real, despite your own unnatural existence.
You were lost and alone in an unfamiliar world. Everyone you knew was gone, and everything you thought you knew no longer made sense.
You were trying. You had Stephen, America...and Wanda. But as nice as their company had been, it wasn’t your home.
So what if you could get that back?
“What do I have to do?”
“You need to pick up the book again. Study it. You only held it for a few moments. Your abilities helped absorb my consciousness into your, but that was all. I’m nowhere near my full power.”
Without noticing, a red tendril made it’s way up a vein in your neck. You felt an urge to turn your head to the right, in the direction you knew the forbidden artifacts room was.
“Go.”
And as if you had something else controlling your movements, you walked back to the room you swore you wouldn’t revisit.
It wasn’t as if you had the willpower to stop anyway.
-----------------------------------------
It’s been three weeks since Wanda last saw you.
Not that she had much of a way to tell time in here, but if she had to guess.
She selfishly missed your presence, but more than that, she was worried. She knew you seemed a little off when you last spent time with her, so she had to wonder if something more was going on.
Her previously stoic days had been quickly replaced with nervous pacing. She wished now more than ever to have a way to scour the halls of Kamar Taj. Were you even still here? Did you move out? No, you would’ve told her...right?
Someone doesn’t just go from visiting nearly every day to being a complete ghost overnight.
Wanda could say confidently that she knew you well enough to not be the type.
No, something else had to be going on.
While in thought, she glanced down at the cufflinks that adored her wrists and ankles. She brought a hand to her right one, caressing it softly. She furrowed her eyebrows in consideration, but before she could get too deep in that thought, a voice interrupted.
“Hey.”
The timid voice got her attention. She looked up to see America standing in the entranceway. Her brows raised in momentary shock, not expecting to see the young girl facing her alone. “Hi, America.” She managed to say as kindly as she could, afraid one wrong movement would scare her off.
America took that as her cue to approach the witch’s cell. “Um, has Y/n been down here lately?” She asked, pushing her own nervousness down.
“No, I haven’t seen her.”
“Oh.” America’s face fell in disappointment, which confused Wanda greatly.
“Why?”
“I haven’t seen her in a few weeks, and every time I go to her room, there really isn’t much of an answer besides ‘Go Away’. At first I thought she was just depressed because...y’know...but I don’t know. This feels weird.”
Hearing the young girl say all that worried Wanda more than she already was. “America, I don’t have a good feeling about this.”
“What do you mean?” Wanda sat on her bed, thinking of the last interaction she had with you. You seemed distracted, not all there. More than you were during your moments of depression, this time it felt like something more. You were almost fighting to stay present...as if someone else had been in your head with you.
She stood up in realization, but before she could say anything, familiar orange sparks filled the space between her cell and America.
The Sorcerer Supreme himself, along with Stephen, stepped out of the portal. “America, there you are.” Wong said to the teenager, before turning his attention to Wanda. To the witch’s surprise, Wong greeted her with a courtesy nod. “And you’re just with who else we needed to see.”
“What’s going on?” Wanda asked.
Strange looked to America before looking back at Wanda. In the short time she’s dealt with him, she learned to read him well. He liked to keep his guard up, his face unreadable, but she could see through the cracks. And the only emotion she could use to describe his face right now was ‘worry’.
“We need to talk about Y/n.”
That couldn’t be good.
