she didn't know who the new person was or where they came from.

all she knew was that they were getting all of the attention from everyone else, even the mortals. she made no move to introduce herself to them, made no move to acknowledge their presence, wanting them to believe that she was simply not interested in them.

she did, however, learn their name later on.

y/n.

she didn't go up to them, no, she only learned it when two of her superiors, chan and minho, were talking about the person as they walked along the silent halls of takanai castle, trying to fit them into their new position. a shooting star, they said. explained why they always wore either the golden hued dress of felix, the sun god, or the silver shimmer of eunhye, the moon goddess, the one that was currently hiding from the two eldest gods.

she didn't want to call it jealousy, but it was laid bare before her nonetheless.

felix, the man she's wanted since they had created, had taken a liking to y/n, being drawn to their likeness. like felix, y/n was all sunshine and rainbows, considered to be close relative to the sun god, yet was more wild and untamed, as they themself never seemed to stay within one spot in the sky, always moving from place to place, leaving streaks of orange, yellow, and white as they raced through the sky.

how could felix fall in love with someone that couldn't even find their place in the sky? eunhye wondered. she followed the earth, felix stayed in the exact same spot each day, and only went inside when nighttime fell, and what was y/n doing? chasing the other shooting stars, playing games of tag and hide n' seek before their colors streaked the night sky once again.

was it because he could actually talk to y/n? eunhye and felix were polar opposites, only passing each other as they switched duties, when felix came inside as the sun set on earth while the moon rose in the background, ready to shine lightly on the humans below. once in a while, they were allowed to be in the same spot at the same time, but it was few and far between, and when it did happen, they barely talked.

what was there to talk about?

felix was already asleep by the time eunhye finally reached her arms toward earth, and eunhye, too, was already asleep when he himself reached the early morning sky. but y/n, they seemed to be next to felix at all times during the day, hiding behind his shine as they spoke, something the moon goddess wish she had with him.

she couldn't deny that all of the gods and goddess within her sector were handsome, but felix had taken her attention eons ago, and sadly, neither made a move.

what did she do before that caused her to be punished so cruelly?

they were mocking her.

the gods, the mortals, even the wind mocked her. it seemed to pick up as y/n raced past, making her remember that the mortals on earth would always prefer to look at the shooting star than to look at her, no matter how many nights she's spent up in the sky, shining down on them. every night she spent shedding layers of her shine until one night, the earth was plunged into darkness before her light came back once again, trying to keep the mortal suspended in angst before she once again lit up the night sky, little by little.

but no, it was once again y/n that kept them on their toes.

why?

it wasn't until one millennia after y/n joined them that eunhye realized why: the mortals could only see y/n's light once every hundred years. they were rare, something that most would live and die without seeing. they were everything eunhye was not.

and eunhye hated them for it.

every day, when eunhye would go to bed before her shift later that night, she would cry to herself, wishing she were y/n, wishing to be the one who would be cuddled into felix's arms, taking in his warmth, keeping him warm, making the sun god laugh and smile.

and every night, when y/n would freely roam the sky as they chased their siblings, eunhye would feel the jealously eat away at her heart, the anger boiling in her stomach as her eyes followed the path y/n would burn before them.

her eyes could no longer cry.

her heart no longer wept for something she wanted, her anger was finally long gone.

but the haunting cries of felix filled the halls, and she began regretting her actions. chan's voice faded into the background, and all eunhye could focus was on the whimpers and sniffles felix would release as he joined the other gods that looked disapprovingly down at eunhye.

"for your crimes. . ."

the moon goddess takes a deep breath, focusing on felix's tear-stained face.

"you will be exiled, and another moon goddess shall take your place."

eunhye drops her head, shifting her gaze on her feet. her jealousy and anger made her pick up that knife and shove it into y/n's chest, the gasp they released as the sharp object impaled them repeating itself in eunhye's mind. the golden blood of the gods still stained the marble floors in felix's room, the one he once shared with y/n for the many years they've been together.

she just wanted to turn off y/n's light.

𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀.

"there will come a soldier, who carries a mighty sword; he will tear your city down, oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lord."

known simply as the soldiers, they carried large swords on their hips at all times, not once letting go of them, ready to cause chaos and high treason against the king, the lowly kim daejung, successor to the great king, kim sanghun. unsatisfied with his corrupted ways, the soldiers went against his word, bringing food to those who needed it and stealing from the rich. saviors to the poor, monsters to the highborns. they would later become part of kim namjoon's personal guard, several tears after his succession to the throne.

park jimin: the leader of the trio of fighters. his word is law, anything he commands is to be done, everything he does must be completed to the most minuscule detail.

kim taehyung: second-in-command. his looks are most prized amongst the soldiers, being able to charm those stubborn, and his deep voice, like honey, attracted the wives of the men, all too easily like flies in a venus flytrap.

jeon jungkook: the fighter. the strongest amongst the soldiers, he is able to take down anyone who stands in their way, using his baby-like to his very advantage. no one would suspect that such an innocent-looking thing like him, with his doe eyes and bunny smile, would be able to slaughter men twice his size.

𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗲𝘁𝘀.

"there will come a poet, whose weapon is his word; he will slay you with his tongue, oh lei, oh lai, oh lei, oh lord."

known to be part of the kingsguard, they were part of king kim namjoon's personal guard when he succeeded his corrupted father, king daejung. with fatal weapons and even lethal words, they were the ones who took over when king namjoon was traveling through his country, finding troubles that needed his attention.

min yoongi: the commander of the guard. a quick thinker who isn't afraid of talking sense into the king's head, his well-thought-out plans and schemes have helped the throne stay in control of the country, and continue to stay stronger for decades to come.

jung hoseok: the king's childhood best friend. if it weren't for him, king namjoon's days will be plagued with worry and sadness. however, despite his kindly appearance and ways, he is still a strong verbal fighter and an even better swordsman.

kim seokjin: the second in command. he isn't afraid of arguing with the king, and his words could be heard all around the castle as he dissed the king's poor behavior, which, thankfully, happened once in a blue moon.

𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗿.

kim namjoon: when coming into power after his predecessor's mistakes, namjoon had much to fix. chaos ruled the realm, the soldiers stalked the rich and took control of the poor, and the economy had collapsed long ago with very few plans to fix it. but, after a few years and many actions and laws later, the realm was once again a stronghold and the people of his kingdom were prospering.
