New action sequence leak outside the radio station
Pretty sure it's Dustin or will yelling Steve to run, but it could also be Jonathan.
One of the paparazzis said this:

So there's actually a high chance this is a new monster, probably very tied to vecna. And since this spieces is one previously human that has bargained for power, than aligns to vecna.
Jamie wasn't filming in that scene so idk if this is actually a new form of vecna or if vecna is now a shape shifter (due to the thessalhydra teasing).

The Rink-o-mania scene was foreshadowing stuff in s5 and it has to do with an attack El will deal with
At the rink o mania scene, Angela drags her down to the roller rink, and the bullies surround her and start mocking her. Then, that dude throws milkshake at her and she falls. That could be foreshadowing a fight in s5, lemme demonstrate.
Now, don't demobats also fly in circles when they want to attack? Yes, they do. We saw that right before eddies death, as he was fighting them.
Let's say the bullies are demobats.
Something drags El into the battlefield, she's clueless atm (just like with Angela) but then a bunch of demobats distract her. Why? Because everything is connected to vecna in the ud, and Vecna knows El would be there
Now, the milkshake could also forshadow demogorgon venom (?) Idk. But it seems like after that, els gonna get spayed with it.
As they surround her, she first falls, looses control but then remembers what happened in s4, and probs how she hit Angela with the skate and she tries to defeat the bats.
Probably.
Plus, before that, El and will argued about her lying to Mike. Lately I've been thinking and I found many clues that he could be a villain (including this one). In the roller rink he is seen alone, after the mileven happy scene, that could easily be used in a villain arc idk.
And what if willel also argue in s5? What if a possessed will drags El down to the battlefield to get her attacked? What if the whole bully scene was just to help El fight the bats or any other creature?
Adding to this, we know part of the hive mind got trapped in a demogorgon in the Russian plot What if that also happens in s5?

no bc hear me out. Eddie in vecnas cult campaing said they were all hooded familiar faces and ONE they do not recognize which was vecna who was allegedly killed by kas.
And oomf bubble said that members of this cult would not only be characters from the show like clarke or calahhan but also irl familiar ppl soooooo....
Plus during one of the chiefs game shawn levy was found talking to taylor swift and since both the show and ts had a crazy year in 2022 i dont think it would be that crazy to have her cameo in the finale as vecnas cult w other famous cameos...
also her tour end 23rd of nov in toronto and st5 filming in 22nd of dec in atlanta, so theyres a high chance she might be in it...

The scene where Will is introduced in season 4 when he's making the painting and thinking about Mike, because the framing of when we start to see him is from the door like this, what if they recreate that but this time is Mike thinking about Will while watching the painting... Like obviously this picture in particular is a BTS so it's not the actual shot also because Finn has his phone out but maybe it's like a teaser?

Joyce was the odd one out in s1 bc she was the first person and only one who felt a connection to will in the upside down. Yes, el was connected to him too but in the way joyce was. You ight say this was just maternal instinct of some sort but lets be real, its not just this.
I think joyce byers has powers, more like a sixth sense, and thats why she could sense will more than anyone else.
Her connection to will is stronger than we think thanks to this scene:
This is not just worry, Joyce sensed something was gonna happen, and thats what kept her on edge. This acknoledging sense was all over s2 as well, because of how she reacted to her sons syptoms after he got posessed by the mindflayer after that halloween night.
And heres where she differs from virginia aka henrys mother:
Joyce was always there for her son no matter what while virginia called henry a monster just because of his powers.

No bc what was the point of this?
ik the lab reached out to him cus they figured he knows the kids and therefore lead them (and probably their target: el) back to them.
But that doesnt quite add up to the timeline, does it...
I think there was another reason they reached out to him. They were probably planning this for a while now, even before s1 started, and tought clarke was the perfect link to the kids and eleven, but why?
Clarke might be connected to vecna and there is proof.
Either hes one of his followers or simply another puppet or a coverup pawn. I havent really thought this through but i do believe hes heavily involved also thanks to @liebstie (bubble) on twitter who gave me food for thought.
The suspicion began when he first saw el, and his reactions were extremely similar to billys in s3 after seeing her for the first time
hell even their expressions are similar
something something they both looked like they recognized el.
Another scene that kinda bugs me about his arc is this:
Look at his expressions, hes definetely hiding something, He knows theres a gate, and he knows how to get there thats why he didnt tell them the entire truth.
These were also foreshadowing the uds effect in the mest seasons, the "swallow us whole" part covering season 5.
BONUS:
HE KNOWS. He knows abt the lab definetly and he also knows about vecna. hes iffy, i can tell but like i cant yet tell if hes under vecnas control or working with him. Now we havent seen him interacting with brenner at all, which leads me to think this:
What if something happened to force him into a connection with vecna, one different than wills or billys, that actually led the lab lady reach out to him and keep an eye on him?? We know she was sent by brenner, and the whole newsletter thing was bs to coverup why exacly they needed him, Clarke is suspicious at all times, as if hes tiptoeing onto what information hes allowed to share about the gates and the upside down.
My theory is that clarke is somehow paraleling both snape and slughorn from harry potter, as vecna paralels tom riddle/ voldermort. He could have helped him in the past since he was presumably always hyperfixating on science, and maybe they had to exchange services of some sort, i havent seen the play so idk if he was involved at all.
Plus this scene where he told them about finneas' injury is also most likely heavily involved in his arc
And then the camera pans from focusing to will, and then max.. which foreshadowed her injury in st4.

We know Brenner basically copy pasted the other numbers with ones blood that's why they all have his powers, we know he needed more than him, how it's presented in the first shadow.
Not going deeper into this, but to sum up I believe Will has powers, and that he was most likely the cause of this explosion.

Max knows about Billy & Karen and that's what's in her letter to Mike: Season 5 Theory.
I've always wondered what the purpose of Mike being in this scene was, because it feels like such a specific choice. This scene is about Max experiencing the nosebleed symptoms. Mike is all the way in California having gay thoughts about his best friend. What's he doing here in Max's flashbacks? Why was it important that Mike saw Max getting this nosebleed?
From his perspective, Max's hair would be blocking his view from the blood, so mabye he didn't notice the nosebleed specifically. But he noticed something was wrong.
Check out these BTS pics. Look at how much went in to this scene.
All of those extras, the classroom location, outfits for everyone, makeup, props, just for a few shots of B-roll.
Note how Mike is blocked at the start of the shot, and the camera pans right to reveal, as well as racking focus on to him.
It could be just to show growth between the two characters. They both take math class together, and they sit next to each other. Mike and Max have been at odds with each other a lot, so its nice to see them a little closer.
It does keep Mike's from feeling too disconnected from the main Hawkins plot. But due to the nature of his story this season, his character was going to be little disconnected regardless. That's why I like to think there's more to it.
Remember that thing Karen/Billy had?
As lots of time has passed between seasons, a lot of fans have criticized that for it's characterization of Karen because, while it provided excellent subtext for what happened to Billy as he was flayed, it doesn't condemn Karen's involvement. Therefore it comes off as painfully tone-deaf toward the predatory nature surrounding that dynamic. If they weren't going to condemn Karen's involvement, then why characterize her this way in the first place?
At the same time, people have also noticed that season 4 seemed to slowly build something up with the Wheeler family. Namely, with Nancy's vision in S4E8 showing her Karen, Mike, and Holly presumably dead.
And I think the final piece could be hidden in Max's letter to Mike.
Season 2 Episode 8: Billy and Karen meet for the first time and are instantly infatuated with each other.
Outside of the meet-cute, Billy is looking for Max, and Karen knows where she is. Karen gives him the address and says "And when you see Mike, tell him to come home already, yeah?"
Both Mike and Max get tied to this from the start. Billy and Karen talk about Max and Mike as their responsibility, even though Billy is only 17.
As of up to season 4, neither Max nor Mike have any clue this even happened.
But I think Max could know.
Season 3 takes place 6 months after season 2. Billy and Karen met before the 1 month time jump at the end of S2E9, Add that up and from their first scene together up to their last scene together, Karen and Billy have known each other in-universe for 7 months.
Maybe sometime prior to S3, Max could've seen Billy and Karen together. Maybe she could've overheard how they were talking to each other, and and maybe just didn't know what to do. (I wouldn't blame her. She's 14. She shouldn't have to have a conversation like that.)
Mike's presence in this scene could therefore be to represent that secret. To hint at what she was hiding that got her the symptom.
As of Season 4's ending, Max is in a coma, and she instructed that her letters only be read if she died. Right now it's 50-50 on whether they'll actually be read in S5.
Mike finding out this truth would be really interesting. Finding out your mom cheated on your dad with Billy Hargrove makes a great catalyst for a TON of conflict. I think there's so much that it could lead to.
Argyle being cut in half in that shot with Mike and Karen; "your dominoes are gonna fall."

A FOOTNOTE WILL DO - Shiftingfics on ao3
Mike wheeler has to face the facts. Despite Vecna's curse killing victims in Hawkins one by one, he finds himself in California, Lenora, only to find a complex situation with Will. This day is one that will change everything....
A canon compliant fic that starts in season 4 of stranger things and follows both Mike and Will's prospectives from Lenora all the way to a destroyed, apocalyptic Hawkins after the four gates of those victims collided.
The story is split in two parts:
Part one: The best spring break ever
After the terrible shooting, and Will thinking everything was his fault, Mike tries to approach him, even try to get a word from him. But will doesn't talk- he won't talk. He's mad at himself for everything.
All changes when Mike spits out that one lie he never meant. A lie that stigmatized Will for ages.
Part two: This is the end(?)
A year later. There was an attack on Halloween - called the crawl- that forces both mike and will to come closer to each other after drifting away for a long while. The Hawkins crew now has to protect their hometown from demo creatures by completing night shifts out in the wild, specifically by checking areas that are abandoned and in a non-quarantined zone. Little did they know that in one of them affected Will in a way that can't be deceived. Little did they know that this shift would change everything not even four days later.
The finished story contains 29 chapters and about 120k words. Hope you enjoy <3

All speculation because it's early to tell, but...
if Mike takes over the role of the heart of the Party he could be the one that's trying to help them all with their grief while trying to deal with his own alone - taking care of Dustin, Lucas and El... and being screamed at because they are upset, maybe El even breaks up with him again while fighting instead of a calm break up and this is when he finds out about the painting...
meanwhile Will could be a little bit more distant not wanting to be considered weak + the whole I'm in love with him but he doesn't love me thing
This could also leave space for a Mike-Nancy emotional support scene if Will is still acting secretive and closed off...
OR in alternative Will could be the only one Mike can feel like he can talk to without feeling completely useless because he thinks he can't help his other friends and they grow even closer and we see Mike being in love with him even if we don't have the confirmation yet
Mike is helping in reality but he doesn't see it and then when the painting is a lie in his perspective and he thinks Will was just trying to make him feel better... this gives the opportunity to Vecna to attack Mike telling him he only makes things worse for everybody and should just die etc in the finale but then the party talks to him together and he listens to them and gets saved!! Will gets to confess he's in love with him with his own words 💖

'forced conformity is killing the kids'
Mike Wheeler ST5 Theory/analysis
So we've all seen the new BTS of Finn Wolfhard on the set of Stranger Things dropped and OH MY GOD. THE DUALITY FROM LAST SEASON.
I have to TRY write about it ATLEAST...because wow I have a lot of potential thoughts, sorry it's once again unstructured, messy, and repetitive but stay with me please!!!!!!!!!!
I've seen ALOT of people happy we're getting s1-2 Mike hair back but guys .....it's not a good thing!!!!!!!!!! Mike is going THROUGH IT.

In Season 4 it's acknowledged that Mike is finally coming into his own a bit, Eddie says he was wearing 'whatever his mom bought him' when he first came to highschool, but in episode 1 when we see him for the first time in S4, he's clearly been influenced by Eddie and has figured out what style he likes and what he's interested in, he's in a DND club, he's comfortable being known as an uncool nerd, he's growing his hair out (yes I DO believe it's because he idolised Eddie, I have more to say about that in a second)
basically: his hair and his outfits, aswell as pretty much the way he acts in Hawkins (NOT California- he goes back to pretending to be something else) in S4 represents the ideology non-conformity and his sense freedom in this new persona
he doesn't feel lost in highschool anymore, he's doing what he likes with his friends (DnD) and he's proudly wearing his hellfire shirt around school/Hawkins, basically, he's accepting that it's okay to enjoy 'different' things that aren't considered the norm, and it makes him happy, he feels comfortable!

But now in Season 5, from the pictures we've seen, it looks like he's fully reverted back into his shell, I guess I understand why tbh I don't blame him:
he comes back to Hawkins after everything and everyone believes he's in a satanic cult- townspeople probably treat him badly and Jason's team mates probably blame Eddie and the rest of hellfire for Jason's 'disappearance' (death). They directly connect him with all the horrible things that have happened to Hawkins as of late
...which is probably what the BTS of them walking towards Mike are about, they probably keep harassing him no matter how he acts and Mike just wants them to leave him alone, let's face it:
High school has probably gone full circle back to middle school for Mike and he's getting bullied/mistreated again. So he feels his only option is to remove himself from Hellfire and become 'normal'.
Hellfire might maybe even be blamed for the gates being opened. Last we heard, the townspeople were hunting down Eddie and the rest of hellfire, and the graffiti on Eddie's grave in the S5 pics shows that he's still very much hated.
Mike probably got harassed by multiple people who don't believe Eddie's dead, or believe Mike was in on it and are out looking for him, or think Hellfire contributed to some satanic ritual causing the 'earthquake' and thus Mike is also a target and it's dangerous for him.
So I think part of the style change and haircut is due to THAT, he doesn't wear his hellfire shirt anymore because he doesn't want any affiliation with the club.
As Finn Wolfhard has said in previous interviews 'mikes just trying to act as normal as possible' so by seperating himself from Eddie/Hellfire and becoming more conventionally 'normal' he won't be treated like an outcast.
He won't be assaulted, bullied, blamed, or worse if he conforms. He has a greater chance of everything becoming better/easier while living in Hawkins if he does this, he might have even given up DnD aswell- so yeah he's gonna be pretty MISERABLE in season 5

Alot of people wanted to see his reaction to Eddie's death, I think we'll definitely be seeing the lingering after effects of it, and alot of Mike's arc will kick off because of the aftermath of the vilification of Hellfire.
Only few people know that Eddie died to try protect Hawkins, Eddie was a role model for Dustin and Mike, but they're grieving him in COMPLETELY different ways
Dustin decides to honour him by taking up a similar style and proudly wearing his hellfire shirt, and is also probably trying to sway the town's opinion on Eddie and prove him innocent.
....But Mike seemingly decides that he DOESNT want to end up like Eddie anymore: dead and hated, known as a satanic freak.
Someone he idolised is now deceased, he doesn't know how to properly handle that fact, it's intimidating that someone he looked up to do much could be so hated, and in turn has caused the reaction from Mike that is basically 'if my idol is treated as such a horrible outcast, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps, where would that leave me?' he's feeling lost and hopeless, especially with the state Hawkins is in, so he probably decides the best thing to do is just blend in. Be normal.
It probably scares him that even merely his interest in DnD and all these other factors immediately make him a target, as far as townspeople believe- Mike is one of the kids who was close with a brutal serial killer, they probably think he's just as 'messed up as Eddie the freak was' for staying friends with someone who'd do such horrible things
I think Mike just wants to hide as much as he can right now, he has ALOT on his plate and doesn't need the rest of the town out to get him.
so if anyone asks: he'll probably say things like 'I didn't really know Eddie! I would never join a cult like that, I didn't know!' or something to try seperate his name from the hellfire club.
Mike will end up picking protecting himself and hiding his true identity and values/traits rather then living exposed and vulnerable; yet true to what he actually believes is right....And that is the opposite of what Dustin is doing,
Dustin is a proud hellfire member and friend of Eddie, he's picking what he thinks is right over self-preservation from the town, he's still wearing his battered shirt, now HE'S the one growing his hair out, he still adores Eddie and misses him (so does Mike probably, but he feels he CANT outwardly publicly show support or stand up for him)
I do wonder if this will cause some sort of tension between Dustin and Mike, because Dustin is doing the opposite and becoming more like Eddie instead of distancing himself from the hellfire name, he might feel betrayed that Mike 'gave up' on Hellfire, and maybe accuse him of not even caring about Eddie or his death?? Idk!!!!!!!!!! I feel like Dustin will also be going through it this season 😭😭😭

I do also think Mike will try to be clinging alot to El this season (I mean, before they inevitably break up which I believe will probably happen kinda early on if it actually happens at all)
this is also because just the idea of having a girlfriend corresponds to his idea of conformity and being 'normal'. He just wants to be a normal guy, his life is nothing out for the ordinary, he's not interested in satanic things like dnd and hellfire, he's just a normal person. A normal person who is PROBABLY a target of Vecna in season 5 😓
I believe his arc for this season will be trying to breakout of these notions of conformity in exchange for things he actually likes and is interested in, we saw him sort of branching out in season 4, but I think THIS time it's happening for real, and he'll end up fully embracing his own views and interests after some sort of emotional arc-which will also probably be part of the M*lev*n break up (not censored because I'm against them/hate them I just don't wanna clog the tag for others 😭😭) OR set off by the breakup
Throughout season 1 he was told he liked El, or others assumed it, so I think he assumed it aswell, they just never broke up because El ALSO thinks having a boyfriend is normal and expected, and because Mike was the boy she was closest to she assumed it was romantic feelings (and he kissed her in S1 which probably contributed to her assuming they were romantic feelings)
Alot of the people around her are also in relationships, and she watched alot of TV with happy romantic couples so she thinks it's more normal to HAVE a boyfriend then to NOT have one, I think Mike and El kinda stayed together because they think they're SUPPOSED to by these social standards,
They obviously care about each other alot, and mistook it as reasons to just stay together, she wants to be a normal girl because only being a superhero isnt good for her, she needs to be 'Jane Hopper' and not '011'. I do think she definitely needs to be single for awhile and find herself, even if her and Mike are to be endgame, she NEEDS at least some time to gain some experiences outside of living her life as a superhero, (Mike also needs character development outside of being 'Els Boyfriend's)
Which is why it was vital that her time with max in S3 existed, so El could realise her value and that there is a life outside having a boyfriend- I think Mike needs a similar moment aswell, a wake-up call of sorts where he can take a step back and consider maybe rather than letting society dictate his actions, he makes decisions for what he wants for himself ('we make our own rules')

If m*lev*n is endgame then sure that's great for them, but I genuinely don't know what big character arc could be in store for Mike that doesn't involve a breakup and themes of non-conforming, it doesn't even have to involve Byler endgame at all (although I AM a byler truther)
I think Mike learning that it's okay to let go of that romantic relationship if he doesn't feel that way anymore is a big step for his character, or atleast taking a break so he can work on himself, anything along those lines of actual development on himself rather then on his relationship- El and Mike have been romantically paired from the start, he needs to learn that it's OKAY to breakup with someone if thats what he feels is right, (side note: I DO believe El would/will be the one to breakup with him 😭)
I don't think he realises that he'll be able to stay friends with El, it's not 'shes my girlfriend or else she'll hate me for breaking up with her. No other options'
he doesn't want to lose her because he cares about her but he can't find a way to balance that romantic relationship alongside his other friendships. So I think for his character to develop they have to breakup, even temporarily, but obviously that's only my opinion if M*lev*n is endgame then oh well, it's endgame, but I think they would be a really awesome platonic duo and I'd like their relationship alot more if it was that way

I think later in the season he'll realise that living this way not actually what he wants, and he doesn't want to give up who he is, or pretend to be something he's not- because he IS a nerd who likes DnD, and he does support Eddie, he cared alot about him because he idolised him, and i think season 5 is about him learning that that's okay and he doesn't have to feel so much pressure to conform by societal standards, bro needs a better grief process, forced conformity GOT HIS ASS 😭😭😭
What I'm trying to say is: all of this, and his new look is a safety net of sorts, he's still pretending to be something he's not because he feels he HAS to, otherwise it's dangerous for him in Hawkins because of hellfires reputation, but he's also acting this way because of other factors that I haven't really thought through yet LMAO
I believe season 5 will probably be him accepting those things about himself and embracing it, maybe also undoing his emotional repression along the way, I guess I would describe it as coming of age and I think if it's handled well it could be really beautiful in a way

Jason's scenes are not a waste/ Will & Eddie parallels
Update: wrote this a long while ago, and it's not worded correctly cus I literally came up with it at two am so sorry if its messy 😭.
S4 I think ep5 or 6, Jason gets interrogated about Patrick's death, mentioning how hellfire is a "satanist cult" and how "Eddie's killing off victims for fun".
BUT
He mentioned quite the quote here: Eddie making a deal with the devil, therefore he now has powers to kill for Satan...
Which, to me at least, sounds quite familiar.
Who else Hawkins put aside in season two after having an upside down encounter? That's right, Will.
In s2, Will became "zombie boy" and got mocked by bullies more than he did before.
Which, in fact, got hawkins questioning if it was real or not
There are many parallels between Eddie and Will; one of them being their DND obsession. And, considering this scene, I could figure out how it works as a metaphor for Will.
If Eddie is the vessel who got powers from Satan, then this metaphor could also mean that
Will is also a vessel, and Satan is vecna, so this entire scene could foreshadow the ending of st5.
Basically, and with the proof below, Hawkins will be after Will as well and think that he's still involved with "Satan" aka vecna.
Also eddies vandalized gravestone connects everything back to Jason's squad.

New BTS pics and Mike's arc next season
Ladies and gentlebitches, I saw them legit an hour ago and I'm gonna go insane.
We see him wearing what he could easily wear in s1.
But in s1 he was just a kid, and didn't quite dress himself. I mean, he didn't pick outfits himself and said "oh I like this, imma go wear it". Karen dressed him.
So, we know this type of outfit is Karen's signature.
In result, he didn't choose this outfit. Karen did.
Also the haircut; mike was growing them out to look more like Eddie and right after his death he cut them cus he didn't want to he reminded of him? Nah I don't bite it, mike was repressed this entire time, he wouldn't back off by changing his appearance more to what others would like him to look like.
I think he's grieving Eddie, and I think this single shoot says a lot about his mental health.
Karen in st4 was pushed behind, not knowing who was actually behind those murders and still blaming Eddie for what happened. So, to my mind, she's still blaming hellfire for turning her son like that. She wants to change that, get him back.
He's depressed. Not bc of Eddie, but also bc he's forced to hide himself, especially after what he had witnessed in the previous season.
And here Andy and his other friend from Jason would only do one thing: bully him.
In st4 Jason wasn't just after Eddie, he also wanted to get to Dustin in order to chase and kill Eddie. Bonus; they noticed mike was in hellfire and *swore they'd vanish this "cult" bit by bit.
Aka mike and Dustin won't just go by their day without facing them next season.
Now, considering the possibilities of this scene, we could get a paralel to s1, where troy and Charlie or whatever the fuck his name was bumped into mike and Dustin. Or maybe this is a shot moments before disaster, idk.
Some people also said this could also paralel the lover's lake scene and the cliff...
