There are so many naruto time travel fics out there but what I need SPECIFICALLY is an ANBU era team of Kakashi, Tenzo, Itachi, and Shisui getting flung into the founders era.
Like. Ok just looking from the political side of it that's;
A) 2 very young and VERY powerful Uchiha's (one of which is the future clan head!! Politics!!)
B) A very fucked up baby mokuton user who's still in the middle of being deprogrammed and can totally pass for Senju
C) The free wild card that is Hatake clan lore on top of having a stolen sharingan. On top of *that* him being the team leader of a team of kids who, in the time period context, should both be at eachothers throats and probably not be expected to obey the commands of someone not only from another clan but a way smaller one
Theres SO much potential there!! So many political implications in virtually ALL of the directions!!!!
Yk what as I'm typing this out I'm having ✨️ideas✨️ so let's make some story points to sort those out:
• I think itd be neat to have this happen like. A year? Ish? Before the massacre? So age wise, and full disclaimer I'm referencing Google and Wikipedia rn so I could totally be wrong, I think that's :
Kakashi (18)
Tenzo (17)
Itachi (12)
Shisui (15)
Could be wrong about the ages but honestly it's my world you're just living in it, so.
Then me going totally purely off of my own headcannons, were going to say they came in a about a year before Izuna died and place the founders ages as:
Madara (23)
Hashirama (23)
Izuna (19)
Tobirama (18)
Big fan of Tobirama being the youngest between the 4 but projecting the aura of someone as old as like. Idk, however old Madara is. Very funny to me, 10/10
• I'm personally a big fan of dogteeth kakashi so we're running with that all the way home. Also a huge fan of the "Hatake's are a distant, more feral cousin of Inuzuka clan" hc along with some sprinklings of "back in the day they had a bit of a Reputation(tm) for being a 'lill wild, and everyone generally tries to avoid them. Which isn't too much of a problem because theyre a very small out of the way clan from Iron, they just have a big reputation in contrast to their size.
In more modern times tho, along with (obviously) having dwindled down to a single depressed teenager, they've become a lot tamer over the years due to village life. Kakashi is a Hatake, 100%, but he is NOT up to the standards of this time. Which becomes a bit funny when people see him, go "oh FUCK it's a Hatake" and then start edging slowly towards the door like he's about to rip their throat out with his teeth. Meanwhile he's standing there like 🧍‍♂️"am I that ugly."
Give me a scene where, finally used to this reaction to him from the general shinobi population, the team starts to use it to their advantage.
"Give us the scroll or we'll let the Hatake off the leash to have his fun with you. He's been awfully hungry latley you know, hasn't had fresh meat in days"
Kakashi, feeling kind of stupid, gave his best growl.
It caused an almost immediate, embaressed flush to rise to his face, but he didn't let up. It sounded more like an almost pathetic puppy growl than anything to his ears, but apparently it was enough to convince the trembling enemy nin because he slowly lifted the scroll up in offering.
Wow. Now he couldn't tell if he was embaressed for himself or for this guy.
Probably both to be honest.
• So like. Itachi is the clan heir. That's big. That's important. Let's do something with that.
First off, I had a great time reading this one fic (tho I don't even remember what the fic itself was about now, oops) where a plot point of it was how Sasuke is just a walking stereotype of main house Uchiha. Like people look at him and they don't just go "oh that's an Uchiha." They go "oh fuck that's an UCHIHA Uchiha." He's so fucking painfully, obviously related to the very tippy top of the clan that anyone not blind can tell. It's in the way he looks, it's in the way he talks and treats those around him, it's in the way he fucking holds himself. You look at him and every other stereotype about the Uchiha clan is there in big, bold letters. (On top of that he's also a dead wringer for Izuna, which I'm such a sucker for and desperatley wish people would do more with)
So like let's give that to Itachi here because it's so fun for several reasons.
First off; Sasuke in this is like. Straight up a doppelganger of Izuna, just a few generations apart. They could be twins. Itachi, as I'm sure you are aware, is Sasuke's big brother. So let's take some liberties and say that Itachi could absoloutley pass as a blood sibling to Izuna and Madara.
He is however 12, so we're also going to say that the only people who get to make this connection is anyone who's seen the siblings when they were also at a similar age.
On top of that however he has the 'walking amalgamation of all the stereotypes of the main Uchiha house' so anyone who isn't blind will look at him and assume he's somewhere in the sphere of 'important main house person' tho who really knows how distant the relation may be exactly. No one !! That's who !!!
Second; He's the fucking clan heir!! What the fuck!! This bit would have the most impact after all the messy time travel reveals when things have settled down a bit, so it'll sit in the back pocket for a bit. Save it for some fun shaking up later down the line so we don't run out of all the fun reveals too fast and bore the readers, yk?
When it is brought up tho it'd be fun to maybe have some fucky Itachi and Madara mutual understandings of the way things work.
• So. Madara is like a bit of a scary bed time story to Uchiha children, right? Like. "Ooo make sure you don't get too obsessive or fall too deep into your grief and always stay loyal to the village or you'll end up just like Madara!!"
Something something Uchiha-Village relationships are tense as hell, something something Madara fucking over a lot of the clan with his whole. Everything., Something something scapegoat and old stories, something something 'people have probably been talking a lot more about how "god dammit this all started with Madara" in recent years.'
Now with that in mind let's take a look of what our time travelers think of Madara:
Itachi is a good Konoha soldier. Itachi (as has been very much fucking proven) would rather beat a possible problem before it even exists with a hammer till it dies an ugly bloody death than even RISK it blossoming into a proper problem. Itachi does not like Madara. Itachi personally, quietly thinks they should maybe wait till the village is formed then carefully arrange a little accident for him before he goes off the rails. He, even more quietly, maybe even thinks it would be a kindness. Allow him to be remembered well by the village instead of scorned.
Shisui I think is cautiously optimistic about him. He's the kind of guy who gives the benefit of the doubt, who weighs the options, risk and reward, but includes things like hope and compassion in his calculations. Yes, Madara was a uhh. Thing. That happened. But in every story his big blow up always come from one specific event; Izuna's death. So if they stop that from happening, wouldn't it secure both a better future for them and Madara? The history books never went into detail about Izuna, he doesn't know what he's like, but maybe his involvement in the future, on Konoha's side, could lead to even more profits for them long term. At the end of the day he's not against killing Madara (though to be clear, they are at first operating on trying to avoid all interactions with historical events and return home without touching things) but it'd be nice, to manage to get a happy ending for everyone. Unrealistic maybe, but nice.
Mmmm hear me out actually, maybe Shisui, after interacting with him a bit, finds that Madara reminds him of Itachi too. They definatley both have that "I would do unspeakable things to even dream of my loved just one more time" energy, if you know what I mean
Anyways; Kakashi and Tenzo are both neutral on Madara. Yes, they learned about how he betrayed the village when young just like everyone else, but they weren't getting the bed time stories and "do this and you'll end up just like him" warnings like the Uchiha's. They're possibly leaning into negative but are detached from the situation enough to just go "well he hasn't done it yet and his brother is still alive so he won't any time soon" and be done with it
• Now, on the the total opposite side of the spectrum you have Hashirama and Tobirama. People are brought up in Konoha to fucking IDOLIZE these guys. You can not tell me our team of time travelers wouldn't be at least a little awed to speak with them.
I think Tenzo would be the most wide eyed about Hashirama, both for the baseline "holy shit that's the Shodai Hokage" and also that fun juicy mokuton user imposter syndrome he has going on for him. That guys DNA is inside his body!!! Holy shit wait does that mean if someone did a blood relation test with them he might read as being related to him?? Fuck were gonna pocket that for now but like. Mmmmm potential.
I'd say Itachi is the most hesitant about Tobirama but again, village loyalist, so.
You know what tho maybe Shisui is the most hesitant about him (though still largely positive) he both def grew up looking up to him but can also see the anti-Uchiha policies people inact now with the implications that Tobirama would have approved of it. He doesn't know if he would, but like, he has to wonder.
Kakashi is probably the most normal about them (and also has experience in being close to a hokage (Minato) to know that at the end of the day they are painfully human) Don't get me wrong, he's still in some sort of awe! He might get a little lightheaded at the thought of seeing the God of Shinobi in proper battle, or the possibility to see the famed genius of Tobirama with all the different jutsu's he's invented. You can't tell me Kakashi didn't spend a little extra time reading about him when he was trying to make Chidori. Honestly I'm gonna roll with that and say he had a bit of a phase as a kid where he was a total fan boy. Maybe sprinkle in the good old HalfHatake!Tobirama hc to add some faint daydreams a lonley babykashi had after his father's death, about getting to meet him as family. Like cmon, little genius idolizing and projecting on some big history figure only to find out they're actually related? Can you say potential?
Anyways he did eventually grow out of the phase, probably got unattached to it all and lost interest after the whole "losing everything he loved" bit of his life. And at the end of the day, he doesn't have any real complex personal hang ups on the founders like the others do. Thus, most normal.
• And then my favorite most special boy, Izuna !! He's for sure the one they're all most neutral about. He's not actually taught about in the academy? There's probably some throw away line about him in some history books somewhere, but he died young and was quickly buried by the looming shadow of Konoha. The only real knowledge had about him in modern times is just a vague "Yeah he got killed by Tobirama which lead to peace being made but also lead to Madara losing his shit"
Poor Izuna he's the linchpin for it all but was left an unremarkable footnote of history. My boy deserves so much better
Tenzo doesn't actually even know who he is, that boy got bare minimum education under Danzo and Izuna was NOT included.
Itachi and Shisui mmmaybe have some small little fun fact here or there buried in stories from the older members of the clans but like. It's gonna amount to just "yeah he had a great katon" and thats about it.
I WILL SAY HOWEVER. Itachi sees him and instantly is that one PTSD dog meme. Sasuke is a BABY but holy shit Izuna looks exactly like he'd expect him to grow up as and it's making him FEEL THINGS. Also he's so bratty little brother coded !! He's an entire 7 years older than Itachi but Ifachi keeps fucking up and trying to big brother him it's embaressing.
And ofc Itachi didn't go into the first meeting thinking he'd see some weird older mirror version of his beloved baby brother who he misses and worries about very very much. So like. There's for sure going to be some conflict there. If their first meeting is a scuffle (which it probably will be) I think Itachi would keep hesitating to attack. On full run away mode. Which is probably for the best bc he shouldn't try to fight Izuna anyways honey he's like double your bodyweight and you're strong but you aren't THAT strong.
• Pointing back at both the 'Itachi does not like Madara and has quiet thoughts about how it'd possibly be in everyone's interest to just kill him' and the 'Itachi and Madara quietly bond over being clain head/heir during stressful times (w pressure from the elders especially)
I can see 2 outcomes of a potential bonding conversation with them:
1) They come to understand eachother better.
Madara wants to be on good terms, he looks at this kid and sees one of his brothers eyes and the others quiet determination. He can tell Itachi doesn't like him for some reason, and it's frustrating because he doesn't know why. He wants him to like him. He wants to be able to offer his hand and have it taken. It hurts, to be looked at with such suspicion from a face that has traces of Izuna's.
Meanwhile Itachi . . . Itachi looks at Madara and he sees someone who gets it. Gets it like no one ever has. It scares him. He looks up at this man, this horror story he's been told to fear becoming, and he sees himself. And this realization shakes him. It makes him think, makes him wonder. He's so, so sure of his loyalty to Konoha. More sure than he is of anything else in the world. But . . . But if something happened to Sasuke, if he had to choose—
And maybe it softens something in him too, along with the (honestly healthy) dose of fear. It forms a little crack in his shell, just enough to maybe, maybe let Madara through. Just a hair.
Or 2) we pull one of those "The conversation ends with them agreeing verbally but mentally they're on 2 VERY different notes."
Madara, nodding and looking at Itachi meaningfully: "Yeah it can be hard, but all we can really do is try to make the world a safer place for the ones we love. (To create Konoha, to keep my clan safe. Izuna safe. And now to keep you safe too.)
Itachi, nodding slowly: "Yeah. No matter how hard it is (even though I think I understand you more than anyone else Ive ever met) we have to try to make the world a safer place (by killing you in your sleep once Konoha is formed) for the ones we love (My clan. My village. Sasuke.)"
• Also pointing back at the 'Hatake warring clan era reputation,' the 'Tobirama is half Hatake' and also now pointing at Tobirama's title as the White Demon. Small thing but it'd be neat if there was some small throw away line that the nickname lowkey started in part because of the absoloutley terrifying reputation of the Hatake combined with Tobirama's own Everything(tm) like it just had some influence on how some view him. Give me Uchiha's making dog jokes ab him it'll be funny
• Ok but now the actual plot thoughts. Yeah I know I kept you waiting sorry about that.
So time travel! Probably due to a mission gone wrong. Some ruins or some ancient crumbling scroll that wasn't even supposed to do fucking time travel but was so old and corroded that it somehow managed to transform into a whole other seal by pure bad luck. Or good luck I guess, considering it could have just turned into a nuke.
Our favorite team of disasters are very very alarmed !!! What the fuck !!! Obviously they don't default to thinking time travel, but they immediatley know something is wrong. The landscape has changed, though the big landmarks are still there. The mission was complete anyways with no injuries so they just retreat to Konoha. Only oops !! It's not fucking there!!!
Queue alarm.
Shisui is the first one to suggest time travel because he's quirky like that. And there's a very easy way to confirm this theory.
(Also we're going to say that Konoha's location is a valley a few miles out from the Naka River that borders the Senju / Uchiha territories.)
This is convenient because that verification method involves checking in on where Itachi and Shisui know the old Uchiha compound should rest.
They do it in full stealth mode, the second they saw Konoha was missing Kakashi as team leader decided they'd treat the land as enemy territory. They all agreed ofc, for all they knew this WAS enemy territory now.
And, ofc, yeah!! There's the old Uchiha compound!! Being active!!! There are people there!!!
"What are the odds Fugaku-sama decided to have the clan return to their homeland for ahh, cultural enrichment?" Kakashi asked weakly.
"Time travel." Was the only reply he got from Shisui, whispered reverently as the boy vibrated with excitement on the branch.
Itachi just gave him a look, radiating a level of dissaproving disbelief that no normal 12 year old should be able to make. Kakashi would know, he was that not-normal 12 year old once.
From there they decide a no interference policy. Hands off guys!! They probably debate it tho, like, a good amount. They all have ✨️opinions✨️ except maybe Tenzo who's lowkey still in the middle of trying to learn how to be a person and is following Kakashi's lead 99% of the time. Especially since they're still in mission mode and this is like a super serious discussion and he really does know the least ab the founders overall.
They probably debate the merits of going to Uzushiogakure bc seal help but it's really far and they don't actually have like, just any leverage with them. They already decided not to fuck with the future so it isn't like they can trade secrets and warnings. At least if shit happens here they have some plausible deniability, being, yk, 2 uchiha's and a senju-passing guy with Mokuton. Kakashi's kinda fucked tho in that regard but he isn't going to be doing the party ANY favors with his clan heritage.
Which means it's time to potentially get desperate enough to interact with Tobirama !!! Which will inevitably lead to them bumping into a Uchiha patrol or something!!! I don't know honestly
• Anyways want Hashirama and Tenzo to interact. He has so many issues like holy shit. Let Hashirama give him the hug he deserves. I want him to violently adopt him. New brother acquired!!!
I said before but Tenzo is still reprogramming from ROOT. Let Hashirama impact that! Let him help! They can make flower crowns and photosynthesize together idk
Hashirama would be so happy to have another mokuton user, I think they should be able to sense eachother extra strong and like 'ping' off of eachothers chakra, it'll be fun
▪︎ I'm not thinking toooo hard about power scaling and this is fanfiction so a) don't quote me on this and b) for the love of all that is holy don't take my words as gospel
But for this fic specifically I'm ranking the founders and Team Ro, weakest to strongest (in a clean, fair fight head on w no time to prepare) :
Itachi (he's fucking 12 guys. But also he is like. FRACTIONS under Tenzo and Shisui. If he were 13 I'd let him be above or at the same level but like. He's 12. Cmon.)
Tenzo - Shisui (they're like JUST under the next 2 tho like seconds behind)
Izuna - Tobirama
Kakashi ( by the skin of his fucking teeth and the advantage that is his stupid amount of jutsu's and lack of self preservation)
Madara - Hashirama
And again that's not counting like. The specific situations, time given to prepare, potential dirty tricks they could play (I think the Konoha tricks would play a fraction dirtier than the others, who are slightly more used to big open battles vs the ANBU squad who does all sorts of shit in all sorts of places) plus like. Mental state and team ups.
Tenzo or Shisui couldn't take down Izuna or Tobirama but if they teamed up I'd allow it. Kakashi would get his ass kicked by Hashirama or Madara but he could survive a minutes longer than the others would
Itachi is doing his best
But like
He's 12 guys
I love him and he is terrifyingly competent but he won't win 1 on 1 with anyone unless he has some sort of advantage. Minus Shisui and Tenzo who he does have the advantage of regularly fighting, so.
• I think they do get to go back home in the end. It takes a ton of work tho and they probably do need to get Mito's help with it, Kakashi can show them the seal they got brought here with but it's an ACTUAL one in a trillion miracle it didn't fucking atomize them. So it needs a lot of touch ups
Anyways !!!
I have a little more rattling around in my brain but I'm really tired and also starting to think about other things now so I'm gonna stop here. Might come back and add to it later so stay tuned if you're into that
Full disclaimer I'm not gonna write this. I don't have the proper energy and it'd probably end up being too ambitious of a project if I tried. I'd love to see it happen tho, so like !! Big open invitation to absoloutley anyone who might want to take even a fraction of the ideas I've listed.
@ me if you do tho I wanna see the final product

Genre : Fluff (SFW)
Team 7 x Bunny Male!Reader
Tumblr media
It was a sunny day in Konoha. You were peacefully minding your own business drawing in your room since there's no missions which means its a day off for you and the team.
As you were drawing you heard a knock at your door, you put on a hat to hide your bunny ears and rushed downstairs. The atmosphere went from a house to a mochi and sweets shop because your house is connected to the shop that your family owns. You were a little confused why is there a customer today, the shop is always closed on Sundays.
You opened the door thinking it was a customer but it was actually the rest of team 7. You forgot that you were supposed to have a picnic with them. Your ears perked up which cause your hat to lift up a little. Naruto and Sakura gave you a huge hug while Sasuke just stand with his arms crossed looking at you. You looked at him with a confused face and he chuckled under his breath.
''(M/n) chan ! Are you ready to go on a picnic we planned last week ?'' Sakura asked with a huge smile on her face. You nodded in return, ''Yep !'' You responded with a smile as you patted both Sakura and Naruto's head.
''Please wait for a moment!'' You rushed back in, leaving the trio confused but that confusion turned into joy and excitement when they saw what you came back with.
''Here !'' You made a drawing and a candy for each of them but you didn't make a candy for Sasuke because he's not really a fan of sweets so you made him his favourite snack, onigiri with a side of fish and tomato.
You saw his face lit up a little and it soon went back to his usual expressionless face.
Naruto and Sakura was crying tears of happiness. ''(M/n) chan.... WE LOVE YOU !!!'' they said in unison as they pulled you in a tight hug.
''Its nothing... lets get going now !'' You gripped your picnic basket tightly before heading to the picnic's destination.
~Timeskip~
The four of you walked together, you in between Sakura and Naruto, Sasuke is beside Naruto.
As you three were walking Naruto decided to ask you something.
''Hey, (m/n) chan, why do you always wear a hat ?'' He asked while walking. ''Does it look bad ?'' You asked him with a pout. ''N-no it doesn't! I'm just curious why.'' He responded as quickly as he can when he saw you pout.
''Well... I dont have any reason to do so..'' You lied. ''If you dont have any reason then... can you take it off ? I'm curious'' Sakura said as Naruto nodded. ''I'm curious aswell.'' Sasuke stated which surprised You, Sakura and Naruto.
''W..well I promise its nothing, I just think hats are nice !'' You said, nervously. ''Guys, lets just leave (m/n) and his hat alone. Plus we're already here.'' Sakura said with a sigh as she was pointing to our final destination.
The four of you sprint to the spot and properly set ul the picnic.
You guys are sitting under a Cherry Blossom Tree because its pretty.
The four of you enjoyed the picnic, Sakura and you were happily conversing over food while Naruto and Sasuke were just bickering about who can eat the fastest.
Naruto stopped bickering with Sasuke for a moment which left Sasuke a little confused. He thought of something mischievous to take off (M/n)'s hat.
He sneakly climbed up the tree and prayed to Kami he doesnt die doing it. After he properly positioned himself, he’s said under his breath that he’s going to launch at (M/n) Sasuke looked at him confused.
When he finally launched himself, you noticed Naruto's shadow and since you didnt have much time to react his body fell on you, your hat fell off causing your bunny ears to spring out.
Sakura and Sasuke was shocked about what Naruto did. Sakura, as fast as possible made sure you’re alright and gave Naruto a whack on the head for potentially hurting you.
You watched the two, completely ignoring Sasuke who was right beside you.
“Bunny ears huh?” He said in his monotone voice as he tried touching it. You squirmed and your face went red when he tried touching your ears. That’s when you realized that your bunny ears are completely exposed. Sakura and Naruto heard your squirm then looked at you and Sasuke.
Their faces lit up when they saw you.
“B-BUNNY EARS ?!?!” Sakura and Naruto said in unison. They ran to you gave you a big hug which flustered you. “You’re so adorable (M/n) !!” Naruto said energetically. “Un ! Un! Why did you hide them (M/n)? You’re literally so cute !” Sakura agreed with Naruto for once (joking joking ww)
“W-well I thought that it’ll creep you guys out-“ You expressed. “WHAT ?!?!” They shouted which made you curl up your ears. “Why would we be creeped out ? We literally have Naruto here, you’re the last thing that’ll creep us out.” Sasuke stated as an irk mark appeared on Naruto. “YOU !!!” Naruto shouted. “What is it loser.” Sasuke replied which cause Naruto to get even more mad.
“Those two will never stop bickering will they ?” Sakura sighed as she puts her arms on your shoulder. “Mhm, at least our group is quite lively” You chuckled.
“(M/n)” Sakura sternly said your name which caused you to look at her. “if anyone bullies you for your bunny ears remember that me, Sasuke and Naruto will always be by your side to defend you!” Sakura stated as she puts her hands on your shoulders , you nodded at her statement. “Thank you Sakura” You responded as you gave her your signature closed eye smile.
-FIN.

a/n: this is based on this prompt made by @whygodohgodwhy. hope you guys enjoy.
pairing: kakashi x reader warning: swearing and fluff.
It's been a few hours since you gave birth after going through a great struggle. You were sweating out. You were breastfeeding your daughter while the nurse entered the room. Kakashi was sitting beside your bed quietly.
“Sir, can you wait outside for a few minutes? I have to clean up the mother and the baby.” the nurse said.
“Few minutes? That's too long.”
“Kakashi calm down and just wait a few minutes outside.” you said.
“I can’t leave her. What if I give her abandonment issues?”
“She is not even old enough to support her own head, you won’t give her any issues by leaving the room for five minutes. At this age, she may not even notice.”
“She will. I did.”
“I say this as someone who loves you with my whole heart - your multiple issues were not caused, in any way, by your parents leaving you alone for short periods in the first few weeks of your life. They were caused by what they did in the lengthy periods of the rest of your life.”
“But still I ain't leaving this room.”
“Kakashi, I'm gonna kick your ass right now. If you don't leave right now.” you said, glaring at him.
“Darling, please let me just stay here by her side and yours.”
“Can you hold the baby for a sec.” you said and handed her to the nurse. You struggled and got off the bed.
“Mam, you need to stay in bed…” the nurse started but shutted up when she saw you glaring.
You turned to Kakashi, who stood there like an innocent boy. You grabbed him by his ears and dragged him.
“Darling darling please.” he pleaded
“Shut the fuck up.”
You kicked him out of the room.
“Stay there for a while.” you said and closed the door.
You turned to the nurse and said, “we may proceed now.”

What if Sakumo were alive and how much would Kakashi's life be different?
[Part 2]
"Kakashi!" - a loud voice sounded right above the boy’s ear, but he didn’t even flinch. - "Papa said that today you are coming to spend the night with us! Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Kakashi turned his gaze to the boy. He pouted his lips offendedly and frowned. Kakashi shrugged his shoulders. The boy's bad mood instantly gave way to bright enthusiasm.
"I've already figured out what we're going to do!"
Guy's dark eyes literally sparkled with joyful excitement. Kakashi looked away.
"And what is that?" - Hatake said barely audibly.
"First of all, we will do our homework", - Guy raised his finger up. - "To become excellent shinobi, we must first graduate from the Academy with the best grades."
"I’ll graduate from the Academy with the best grades", - Kakashi shrugged condescendingly.
"I know, you are my Eternal Rival! I wouldn't have chosen you if you weren't like that..!" - Guy exclaimed solemnly.
Kakashi rolled his eyes. They walked towards the Might family's house. The small house was located slightly away from the village, closer to the forest. Not too far away was the residence of the Hatake family. Kakashi wasn't a frequent visitor to Might's house, but he did stay over for dinner a few times.
"Did Sakumo-san go on a mission today?" - asked Guy.
"Yes", - Kakashi answered quietly.
This was father's first mission in weeks. Kakashi knew the reason why his father had been suspended from missions all this time. He couldn't help but know. He was literally followed by the whispers of people as he walked through the village. People hissed behind him, twisted their faces and turned away from him. Kakashi knew that their emotions were not directed at him personally, but at his father. But they were too afraid to say anything to the Hatake family's face. After Jiraiya's visit a few days ago, his father had changed. Kakashi felt it in his gaze, in his gestures and in the tone of his voice. It was as if his father had lifted off a huge, heavy weight that was weighing on his shoulders. Jiraiya appeared so suddenly and left very quickly, but somehow miraculously helped Sakumo. Kakashi promised himself that the next time they met, he would allow his uncle to hug him a few seconds longer.
"And after dinner we’ll play shogi", - Guy’s excited voice reached Kakashi.
"Mm", - he hummed in response, having listened to most of the boy’s story.
They quickly reached the house. Kakashi took off his shoes and put his shoes back in place, and then followed Guy into his room. It was a little strange how familiar he felt being in Might's house. The feeling of safety and comfort that he experienced behind these walls sometimes shocked him. But he tried not to think about it. Sakumo went on a mission and asked Duy to look after his son. Kakashi often had to stay home alone when Sakumo left the village. But after the incident, his father could not leave him alone. Kakashi understood this. Given the current situation, people's aggressiveness towards Sakumo could result in an attempt on Kakashi's life. Kakashi himself didn't mind staying at Might's house for a few days. Deep down, he was even glad. He didn't want to be alone. Even though he was a genius and a talented shinobi, he was still a child who, like other children, was sometimes scared by ordinary things.
"Are you done, Kakashi?"
The boy emerged from his thoughts and nodded affirmatively. It turned out that Guy had finished his homework some time ago and was sitting quietly next to him, trying not to disturb Kakashi. Hatake chortled barely audibly. Guy was not as stupid as everyone around him thought. In fact, he was smarter than most of their classmates. Including Obito, especially Obito.
"Now let's go outside!" - Guy jumped up and ran out of the house.
Kakashi tiredly followed him.
"So what do we do now?" - the excessive boredom in Kakashi’s voice did not shake Guy’s enthusiasm for a second.
"Do you remember today that sensei told us about the Summoning?" - waiting for the boy to nod, Guy continued. - "I thought it would be cool if we could summon someone in the future!"
Guy jumped up and down impatiently. Kakashi sighed heavily.
"In fact, I already signed the contract", - Hatake muttered, looking away.
This happened a few days before Jiraiya's arrival. As soon as his uncle found out that he had already signed the contract, he was noticeably upset. He really wanted Kakashi to undergo training at Mount Myōboku in the future, just like himself. Kakashi expected a strong reaction from Guy. He expected a surge of emotions, particularly envy. That's why he still hasn't told anyone that he signed the contract. He knew that if he confessed today, he wouldn't be able to avoid Obito's irritated looks. However…
"Is it true?" - Guy's small hands tightly squeezed Kakashi's thin shoulders. - "It's so cool! Just what you would expect from my Rival!"
Kakashi blinked in surprise and looked at Guy's face, which was literally glowing with joy.
"What animal can you summon?"
"Dogs", - Kakashi answered, and then for some reason continued. - "Do you want me to summon them right now?"
"Yes! I want!" - Guy shouted loudly.
Kakashi moved his shoulders, dropping the boy’s hands, and then pulled a kunai out of his bag. Slightly pricked his index finger, Kakashi folded the correct seals.
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
A whole pack appeared in a cloud of smoke. The Ninken looked at Kakashi in surprise. This was only the third time he had summon them. And the only time he did it without his father. Pakkun's gaze glanced at him and then at the boy standing next to him. The Ninken had already heard the smell of Guy on Kakashi's clothes, so they understood that he did not pose any threat to him.
"Hey, kid", - Pakkun approached Kakashi. - "Something happened? Why did you summon us?"
"No, nothing happened", - Kakashi sat down on one knee. - "I just wanted to introduce you."
The Ninken simultaneously turned their gaze to Guy. The boy was confused for a second, and then bowed deeply.
"It is a great honor for me to meet the Ninken of my Eternal Rival!" - Guy said loudly and solemnly.
Pakkun gave Kakashi a questioning look. The boy waved his hand. Without thinking twice, the Ninken rushed at Guy and knocked him to the ground. Might laughed heartily. Kakashi sat down on the cool ground and watched with a ghostly smile as Bisuke and Guruko ran after Guy, trying to catch him. Pakkun chuckled.
"Is Sakumo-san on a mission?"
"Yes."
"You didn’t summon us for protection", - there were notes of surprise in Pakkun’s voice. - "You don't need protection here."
Kakashi remained silent. His Ninken could feel that he was completely safe.
"I’m glad", - Pakkun put his paw on Kakashi’s knee.
They continued to watch as the dogs and Guy ran around the edge of the forest. Guy's hair was disheveled, a wide smile never left his lips, and his eyes sparkled with sincere joy, which was transmitted to the Ninken. Kakashi pulled out a small package from his bag and tossed it to Guy. Might poured the treat into his palm and handed it to each Ninken.
"Thank you for allowing me to spend this wonderful evening with you!" - Guy gently stroked Ūhei's soft fur. - "I will be immensely happy if I get to meet all of you again!"
Ninken surrounded Guy, leaving fur and their scent on his green suit. Kakashi rolled his eyes at their overly touching goodbye.
"That’s it, it’s time for you to leave", - he raised his hand and lazily waved at them. - "Bye."
The corners of Guy's lips turned downward after the pack disappeared. Kakashi frowned. He didn't want Might's mood to worsen. However, sadness quickly gave way to enthusiasm.
"Help me sign the contract, Kakashi! I want my own personal summon too!"
"Okay", - Hatake shrugged his shoulders. - "And what animal do you want to summon?"

❦ MISTY
cw: mature, some violence, reader is a stripper
@kakashisboothangg @factae here’s part 1 ;)
PART 2 | MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
kakashi didn’t mind going to the strip club. he was pretty shameless reading his icha icha books in public anyway, so it wasn’t a stretch that he and guy occasionally had a couple drinks around some dancers.
he said hi to the waitress when he entered, who gave him a smile and got his usual ipa for him as he sat down. the days he went to the strip club with guy, he arrived a bit earlier to see his favourite dancer.
and when he says favourite, it’s because every time she comes out for her solo dance, and sees him in the front row, her face flashes with a nasty scowl and a roll of her eyes that he can only see because he’s so close.
upon their first meeting, kakashi was a little too drunk and apparently spilled something that he can’t remember on her. since then, he has yet to apologize because he honestly thought your scowl and scrunched up nose was the cutest thing he’d every seen.
so when the stage lights changed colour, the music started up, and you came out, he hid his smile behind a sip of his beer as you narrowed your eyes at him.
despite the multiple eyes on you when you danced, your focus always found your way back to his.
he knew you liked him. if you really, truly, hated him, you’d have him kicked out of the club. yet here he was, front row to your dance, heterochromatic eyes following your body wherever you went.
the smoke crept along the bottom of the stage to shroud you in mystery, it added a little element of surprise when you appeared through the mist, eyes locked with kakashi’s and an expression of disinterest as you took the cash he was holding out. he was so entranced by you that he didn’t even notice the dark bags under your eyes.
then you were gone. the mist subsided and the music faded out into the regular ambiance. this was the time guy usually showed up, and thoughts of you were put in the back of his mind, not forgotten, but hoping.
he didn’t drink a lot that night, he got guy a cab cause of his stumbling and decided to walk home. kakashi was never too concerned with the area being dark, he could easily take care of himself, but his shinobu instincts always kept an ear out for anyone else in trouble.
so when he heard a small commotion around the corner, it was second nature to butt his head in.
but seeing you, shaking slightly with a knife clutched in your hand held out towards two guys; one shuffling through your bag haphazardly thrown away from you and the other towering over you, it only took a second for him to appear behind them.
the first guy he grabbed was the one intimidating you, with a hold of his collar and the advantage of a surprise, he easily took him down, his head eliciting a sickening crack against the pavement.
it was a bit gruesome, and it caught the attention of the one with his hand in your bag, who then attempted to grab your things and run. with kakashi’s fist still clutching the other’s collar, he couldn’t go after him, so with the throw of a couple of kunai’s that threateningly pierced the perpetrators ear and struck the wall, the guy was dropping your things and running off, the one on the ground quickly following as he cradled his bleeding head.
with them out of sight, kakashi grabbed your bag and moved back to your shaking body. upon closer inspection, he noticed sniffles and tears coming from your shaking figure.
“hey,” he said in an attempt to be soft, but it sounded a bit awkward. “they’re gone now, you don’t need to be scared.”
you flashed him a murderous look.
“i’m not scared,” you bit and grabbed your bag from his hands. “i’m exhausted. shit—i know not to come this way, i just wanted to get home.”
you slumped over your bag, and kakashi could hear your sniffles. he squatted down to be level with you.
“go away, i’m fine now.” you mumbled.
“i’d rather not leave you crying and alone in an alley.”
“i would like nothing more.” you sniffled.
kakashi sighed, placing a soft hand on your arm and, surprisingly, you didn’t flinch away.
“at least let me walk you home, i know you hate me, but you’re in no shape to be alone right now.”
to his surprise, you nodded. not only that, but you held out your hand for him to help you up, which he abided by. as he pulled you to your feet, he was about to crack a joke when you fell limp.
“woah!” his arms caught you and held you tight against him, “easy, girl.”
he laughed a bit to himself, but it quickly died out when you didn’t say anything back. upon closer inspection, kakashi saw your eyes closed, soft snores escaped your lips and he realized you passed out.
the only thing he could think to do was pick you up and take you home.
you immediately snuggled into his arms, completely oblivious that you fell asleep in the middle of an alley. and it was only after a couple blocks that kakashi remembered that he doesn’t know where you live.

Itachi and neji with a partner who likes to make flower crowns and place it on his head or weave flowers into his hair when he's asleep or during their free time
This is so cute omg.
Itachi
He finds it so hard to sleep and when he finally does get some sleep, he is a deep sleeper and not much can wake him up. So when you have made the sweetest little daisy crown for him, intertwined with long blades of grass and the greenest leaves you could find, you take this opportunity to go over to his bed and lightly place the crown upon his raven coloured head. Making these crowns helps you find peace and you want to share a bit of that peace with Itachi who these days doesn't find such a thing mostly.
When Itachi finally awakens, you're not there but the daisy crown still is. Through his lashes he sees the little white flowers hanging halfway over his eyes. Slowly he blinks. Yet he doesn't react right away; partly because he's still waking up. He instantly knows who did this to him. Itachi doesn't rip off the crown. He keeps it on. Calmly he stands up and takes his Akatsuki cloak from the peg and slips the large coat on. He leaves his room and walks into the lounge area of the Akatsuki base where he saw you knelt before the coffee table with various materials laid out messily on the wooden surface. There was the evidence. More grass, more green leaves and even more daisies. You lift your head, seeing Itachi in the doorway. You couldn't help but smile brightly at the sight of him especially with the flower crown on.
"Good morning, Itachi!" He closed his eyes and silently sighed in his head. He knew why you were so cheerful. Yet he walks over to you and kneels beside you.
"I see you are the culprit." You nod happily to his words.
"Do you like it?" The Uchiha looks into your shiny eyes, so full of hope, so full of life. How could he not like what you had done for him? In a world full of darkness, you always found the light within it. Even in the darkest corners at times. Itachi's onyx eyes softened and the smallest of smiles took shape.
"Yes." His voice was so gentle, just above a whisper. With his lips being right next to your ear, it gave you butterflies in your stomach. It was the little interactions like these which made you fall in love with the Uchiha all over again. He looks down at the objects of your creation, his fingertips brushing over the white petals of the daisies. "Do you need help?" He knew you were more than capable of making them on your own, but he wished to be apart of finding the light. His eyes were falling into the shadows, yet when he looked at you and the things that made you happy... a small glimmer was found in those shadows.
"Thank you, Itachi."
Tumblr media
Neji
The Hyuga was not impressed to begin with. In fact he found it quite irritating; your constant ambushes to try and place crowns of flowers on his head. You were never successful in the beginning. With him having the byakugan it was quite the impossible challenge. The situation was very reminiscent to the times Might Guy tried to challenge Kakashi all the time as a kid. You were doing similar things to Neji except you were trying to place flowers on his head. You would try and catch him off guard when he slept, pee breaks, when he was eating, taking baths- but each time he was two steps ahead of you and you were never successful. Until today.
It was not how you wanted it to happen. You were broken with some bad news this morning and the best way you found to deal with it was to sit in the meadow, tugging at the grass and buttercups and tying them together to make a crown. You feel a shadow cast over you and you look up with teary eyes to see Neji. He always had a frown on his face and this time was no different. "What's happened?" He asked sternly. You explained reluctantly what you were told earlier and his expression changed. No longer did he scowl. He looked at you kinder now. With understanding. "I see." Neji looks down at your hands, seeing gold and green between your fingers as you tied the two colours together. Now he was beginning to understand why you did this. A coping mechanism. A way of comforting your heart in times of loneliness or sadness. Without saying anything, he sat down in front of you but with his back facing you. He had his eyes closed and breathed gently through his nose. No words needed to be said.
Your eyes lit up. Is he going to actually let me- "Hurry up before I change my mind." His tiny outburst made you jump and straighten your spine.
"Sorry!" You finished up the buttercup crown as quickly as you could and carefully you place it on his head. He didn't react. Not from what you could see anyway because his back was facing you. By him not moving, it was sending signals to you that you could go on and do more. After all, he understood this was to help calm and comfort you. So he would stay like this for as long as you needed. You smile warmly. Picking at the daisies around you, you placed them in your lap and look at Neji's beautifully long hair. Careful not to hurt him, you lift a few locks of his hair at a time and start to weave the daisies throughout. You must have been there over an hour doing this and all the while Neji sat so good, his arms crossed and eyes closed.
He may not have said much during this interaction, but his actions spoke a thousand words. He would sit as long as was needed to ensure your happiness. And that every bit of sadness that you felt that morning had disappeared into nothing.

The Big Bad Wolf
Part VI
Word Count: 3.808
Warnings: mentions of drinking and depression
Notes: I meant to post this a couple days ago, but I kept writing and rewriting a scene, so I completely took it out and went with something else.
Genma lived in the same bottom floor apartment he had when you two had been friends. When you walked up to the door, there was a bit of anticipation. Did he really want you there? Would you only be interrupting a gathering between close friends? Taking a deep breath, you rapped your knuckles in a specific sequence, one you had used almost every day, to let him know it was you. It put a little smile on your face to let your muscle memory take over.
The blue door was nearly ripped open only seconds later by Genma, who was grinning ear to ear. He pulled you into your second tight hug of the day. You appreciated his warmth as the air had started to cool since the sun had set.
“You remembered the knock,” he said happily in your ear before pulling away.
“Of course I did,” you smiled softly at your old friend.
You looked around at the lamp-lit living room. A few people were already there, you spotted Shizune, Izumo and Kotetsu, Gai, and a woman you didn’t know who was glaring at you from her spot on the loveseat. You smiled politely when you made eye contact with her and she rolled her eyes.
You and Kakashi filed in and Genma shut the door behind you. Looking around again, you decided to go talk to Shizune, since you knew her best. You weren’t particularly close, but you had worked under her a short while when you were learning medical ninjutsu. You also had seen her recently, since you had visited the hospital since coming home for a general check up.
She waved at you with her free hand when she noticed you. Her other hand was busy balancing a cup on her knee.
“Hey, how have you been?” You asked.
“Not too bad, all things considered. How are you and your baby?” She tucked a loose strand of black hair behind her ear.
"We're both doing pretty well. He started preschool and he's really liking it,"
She smiled. "That's great, he seemed like a busy kid,"
You huffed a laugh. "Insanely so, I can hardly keep up,"
Gai startled you when his voice boomed directly behind you. "Kakashi! My friend and greatest rival, you have made it!"
You and Shizune rolled your eyes at each other, smiling at his antics. You took a seat diagonally from her on the oversized cream colored ottoman that might as well have been its own couch.
You peeked over your shoulder as Guy started in on a rant about youth and his favorite student growing up (though he didn't have favorites, he said). Kakashi found a seat so he could listen to him, and you smiled.
You turned your head back to Shizune, who was drinking more than sipping out of her cup. You were about to comment about spending too much time with Tsunade when Genma appeared beside you. He held a drink out to you which you took.
“What’s the drink of choice for tonight?”
“Tequila, your favorite,” he grinned cheekily.
You blanched. “Tequila is the worst, you know how I get,”
“Exactly,” he had the audacity to wink at you.
The girl who had been glaring daggers came up to his side and took his arm in her hands. He barely looked at her, opening his mouth to say something, when she interrupted with a whiny voice.
“Baaabe, why’d you leave me all alone?”
She batted her long lashes at him. He sighed. “Sorry, babe. I was just being a good host,”
She pouted. “You already gave her the drink, aren’t you done?”
He looked to you, but all you did was wave a little goodbye. The last thing you wanted was to get involved in whatever mess that was or would be.
Shizune sniggered at their turned backs as they walked away. “He found himself a real keeper this time, don’t you think?”
“Hm, might be the best one yet,” you replied sarcastically.
After that, the two of you fell into some light conversation. You sipped on your heavily poured drink that burned your esophagus in between the chatter. No longer a drinker, you could feel its effects halfway through your glass.
Your mind wandered back to the conversation shared with Kakashi on your way to the party. You wondered if Obito would have liked to come hang out with everyone. You felt a pang of sadness in your chest. He had been kidnapped when he was so young, had he even gotten the chance to be with his friends like this?
You internally frowned. You knew to some extent what it felt like to be isolated, after your ex had taken you out west, where you were from originally, for a job opportunity soon after you became pregnant. He wouldn’t allow you to take a job or go out because he refused to watch your son, then would go out and do whatever he wanted after work every day. That had been miserable enough, you couldn't imagine decades of mostly isolation. It must have been unbearable.
Shizune waved a hand in front of your face. “You good? Where’d you go?”
“Sorry, just got lost in thought,”
You took another sip of your drink and willed yourself to pay attention to her words. She was complaining about the increased workload at the hospital, and how exhausted it made her.
She ranted for a good twenty minutes while you finished your drink and nodded along. Between your thoughts and her complaining, you were starting to feel really down. At the first opportunity, you slipped away to the kitchen. The tequila hit you while you were walking, making your brain fuzzy.
You set your cup down in the sink and sighed. You weren’t having as much fun as you thought you were going to have.
A frown made its way onto your face. Ever since coming home, you had tried to go out on your weekends without your son, but they had all ended disappointingly. You were wondering at this point if it would be better just to stay home. You didn’t have the extra energy to party anymore anyway.
“Hey,” a voice said from behind you.
You didn’t have to turn to know it was Kakashi. You managed a half smile when you faced him. He wasn’t fooled, and a look of concern came over his visible features.
“What’s wrong?”
You wanted to lie and tell him nothing was wrong, but the alcohol made you loose-lipped. “I’m wondering if coming here was the wrong move,”
Kakashi frowned. “Did something happen? You seemed excited earlier,”
You shrugged. "I’m just not really vibin’, I guess. And I’m tired.”
You caught a flicker of disappointment in his eyes. “Okay, do you want me to walk you home?”
You shook your head. “Thanks though. Will you say goodbye to Genma for me? I don’t want to cause trouble by going up to him with his girlfriend right there,”
“Yeah, of course. Not a problem,”
“Thanks,”
You left without another word, and jumped between the rooftops home. It was a much more effective mode of travel, and you were happy to reach your door within minutes.
A sort of melancholy washed over you when you stepped through your front door into your empty home. Without turning any lights on, you shuffled to the kitchen and took some painkillers in preparation for the next day's headache. You completely downed that glass of water and filled the cup again. You took it with you to your bedroom and set it on the bedside table. It was your last action of the night before crawling into bed and falling asleep.
Waking with the first light of day, you felt the headache you had anticipated the night before. Tequila never sat well with you, no matter the amount. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been, so you got up for more painkillers and brought them back to your room where you took them and went back to sleep.
The next time you woke it was late morning. You rolled onto your back and stared at the white ceiling; energy and motivation near nil. Youo knew you would have to check your phone soon, based on the brightness of the light, to respond to Hikaru’s father. You were sure to have at least one missed call by now.
Slowly, you felt around for the phone in the bedsheets. You found it and tapped on the screen, seeing you had a few texts and one missed call. You stared blankly until the lock screen went dark, then turned it back on and unlocked it.
There was a text from Toma stating that he would take Hikaru to school Monday since you were, “so busy with the Hokage,”
You replied with a simple, ‘Okay’ and rolled over to plug the phone in. You figured you should probably shower. Whatever other messages you had could wait until later, when you hopefully felt refreshed. However, you shut your eyes briefly, and accidentally fell back asleep.
It was midday the next time you woke. Usually, that would have you flying out of bed and rushing to start your day, but that mild panic never struck you. Instead, you just let out a heavy sigh.
You jerkily climbed out of bed and went to the bathroom. You turned the shower on and stripped down. The water was quick to turn hot and you stepped under the spray. You stayed under, lost in thought until the water started turning cold.
You wrapped yourself into your fluffy towel and went to sit on the side of your bed. You picked up your phone and looked to see what other messages you had missed.
One was from your grandma, who was asking for pictures of her great grandbaby. Another was from your dad, who periodically checked in on you over text since he lived in a small civilian village a couple days walk away. The last was from Kakashi.
K: Sorry about the voicemail
With your interest piqued, you went to your voicemail and clicked on the latest one. There was some background chatter interrupted by a loud, drunken voice.
“Kakashi, gimme the phone!”
There was a muffled noise and then the voice got louder; you assumed they were now speaking against the receiver.
“Heeeeyyyy. Why’d ya leave w’thout sayin’ goodbye?! I missed ya so much when you were gone, y’know? An’ Kakashi won’ gimme your new number ‘cause he jus’ wants ya aaaallll to himself an’-”
In unison, Kakashi and a female’s voice said, “Genma!”
There was some commotion, and some angry shouting from a woman that you couldn’t quite make out before the message cut out.
You wondered how he had convinced Kakashi to leave you a message in the first place when he was obviously so drunk. Some guilt seeped into you the more you thought about his words. The only reason he didn’t have your number was because your ex had made you delete and block any male contact you had besides your family a few months into your pregnancy. That had been one of your more explosive fights, but you ultimately gave in to preserve the relationship.
You sighed and opened up Kakashi’s messages.
Y: You can give him my number if his gf didn’t kill him after that
Kakashi didn’t respond until hours later, when you were curled up in bed with a book you had decided almost immediately to lend to Obito once you were finished. It was only a thumbs up, so you continued devouring the book without having to respond. It was sort of a psychology of the self type thing, and you found it incredibly interesting. You figured it might be a nice change over the lengthy novel you had lent him for the weekend.
By late afternoon, your eyes stung and the words started blurring together. You finally gave up and took a break with the rumbling of your stomach. You made yourself a snack before once again retreating to your bedroom.
You didn’t have the mental capacity to do much else. Another disappointment from an attempt at going out drained you more than you were willing to admit. So, you ended your day by finishing your book and going to bed early.
You dressed more casually for work than the previous week and gathered Obito’s new things. You sealed them away for your travel and made one stop before heading to his home.
You hadn’t gotten your first paycheck yet, but for your own sake, you needed to pick these up. You browsed only shortly, picking out a tall lamp for the living room and one for his bedroom. You couldn’t stand having the overhead lights on; they were overly bright and cast harsh light on everything, making it feel unwelcoming. With the cloudy day and your mood to match, you needed some soft, warm light. Besides, you were sure Obito would appreciate it more for his reading.
On your way towards checkout with the lamps and bulbs, you spotted the cutest set of mushroom storage containers you had ever seen. You stopped to look at them, but told yourself you already had containers and to just walk away.
Then you realized that even if you had them, Obito didn’t, and wouldn’t it be so nice to own some that were so cute? Being unusually impulsive, you snatched up the set and bought your items.
You arrived at the clearing right on time, and felt the pleasant woosh as you stepped through the barrier. It was starting to look like it was going to rain, the clouds were darkening quickly. When you were almost to the door, you stopped. You inhaled the scent, letting the calm before the storm wash over you while closing your eyes.
The front door burst open, and your eyelids shot up. Obito stood in the doorway, looking at once stressed, and then deflating with relief. You waited for him to speak while you studied his expression. He looked more tired than how you had left him, with red rings around his eyes like he had been recently crying.
“Good morning,” the words came out in a rush of air as he let out a deeply relieved sigh.
The way he looked at you reminded you of your conversation with Kakashi. Softly, you replied, “Good morning,”
He stepped back a bit and held the door open for you. You quickly made your way through and thanked him for holding it. He only nodded and followed closely behind you to the kitchen. Instead of feeling discomfort, you welcomed his presence. Something about that conversation had awoken your intense care-instinct.
When you took out your scroll and placed it on the counter, you noticed how his eyes followed your every movement. You unrolled the scroll on the floor next to the counter (which was still as clean as you had left it) and made the signs to open it.
You observed Obito’s reaction as everything poofed into existence. His brows wrinkled in confusion. He opened his mouth and closed it twice before finally asking, “What’s all this?”
“I put in a formal complaint so I could get you new stuff,” You waved a hand over the pile.
For a long moment, he said nothing. You watched his intense dark eyes get teary and a light blush caressed his cheeks soon after. Averting his gaze, he fidgeted with his fingers and shakily said, “This is - this is really nice, thanks,”
Your heart hurt from his reaction. You wanted to pull him into a hug; tell him you would give him all the kindness he deserved. And your newfound reaction didn't surprise you. You had always been this way; the second you decided someone truly needed your care, that instinct went into overdrive. You smiled at him and reached out to lightly grasp the back of his upper arm.
“Of course, there’s plenty more to come,”
You let go and went to the pile where you started to separate everything so he could blink back his tears in peace. You heard him sniffle as you gathered up the blankets and towels and headed for the washer. You threw in a load of sheets and started it up before heading back into the kitchen.
Obito was standing next to the counter, holding the new red and white mushroom containers. There was a small smile on his face as he inspected them. He looked up as you approached.
“What are these?”
“Containers for flour, sugar, and brown sugar. I thought they were too cute not to buy… Besides, this place could use a little more character, don’t you think?”
He gave a little nod of agreement and placed them in a row on the counter against the wall. You put the new pans and tupperware in and around the sink to wash after breakfast and got started. Obito leaned against the counter while you worked. You noticed that his body moved minutely in whichever direction you were going when you stepped away from your spot.
“How was your weekend?” He asked.
Without breaking from your task you responded, “Uh, it was good, I guess. Besides the shopping, I got to see an old friend, so that was good,”
“Oh,” you looked at him. “And I read this book I think you’ll like. I brought it with me. It’s in my bag if you want to check it out,”
He slowly pushed himself off the counter and went to retrieve it. He was more interested in watching you than reading, but he'd bite. While he was pulling it out he paused. Your phone, which was on silent, was ringing and he curiously picked it up.
“Hey, you’re getting a call,”
Surprised, you looked behind you where he was holding it. “Who is it?”
“I don’t know, it’s just a number,”
You wiped your hands off on your pants, concerned it might be Hikaru’s school calling or something. You put your hand out, but the call ended right as he handed it to you.
Almost immediately, you got a message notification on the lock screen. You unlocked it and saw it was from the unknown number. Frowning, you clicked on it.
Unknown: Hey sorry for the drunk voicemail
Unknown: Kakashi just gave me ur number
Unknown: This is Genma btw
Your frown became a grin and you flicked your eyes up to Obito, who was watching you curiously. In response to his silent question, you said, “It’s the old friend I was talking about,”
He nodded, curiosity not quite sated. You hovered your thumbs over the keyboard, thinking of a response, when a sudden realization hit you. You looked back up at Obito and said, “It’s Genma, actually. I forgot you went to the academy with him for a second there,”
You completely missed the beginnings of a scowl as you typed out:
Np. I could tell you were drunk af lol
You saved his number and turned the screen off. You bypassed Obito and put your phone back in your bag. He was trying very hard to keep a neutral expression when he asked, "So, how do you know Genma?"
"Oh, you know. We were assigned a mission together and just clicked. That was years and years ago, when he was still a chunin."
You chuckled to yourself. "We used to train a lot together... You know, he used to spit those poisoned senbons at me to make sure I actually took it seriously?"
You wore a highly amused expression, eyes slightly unfocused as you recalled your memories. Obito didn't know what to say, so he just pulled a face that said you were insane and left it at that.
The longer you were there, the more exhausted Obito became. He had been unable to sleep over the weekend; the noise in his head was louder than a hurricane. A large part of him had decided that you wouldn’t be back Monday morning, that you hated him, and that he would be left alone once again. That sentiment played over and over in his anxiety-addled brain.
Despite his mind assuming the worst, he desperately wanted you to come back. Every fiber in his being wanted you there; wanted your company. Even if it was solely on a professional level, he needed someone's presence for his own sanity.
He watched you bustle about from his spot on  the sagging couch. He had attempted picking up the new book, but his eyes wouldn’t focus, so he gave up after only a few minutes. Your increasingly blurry figure rocked back and forth as you took dishes from the drying rack and put them away.
Suddenly, you turned and asked, “Are you listening?”
His heavy eyelids blinked slowly and he shook his head. You tilted your own head, studying him while he tried to refocus on you. You approached and stood in front of him, leaning slightly over his slumped form.
In a soft, hushed tone you asked, “Did you sleep at all this weekend?”
“Not really,” he managed with a heavy tongue.
“Your blankets are done, why don’t you go lie down?”
He shook his head. He wanted to stay awake with you. At the very least stay in the same space.
“Obito,”
The sound of his name on your tongue was lovely. When did you start saying it like that? You held out a hand to him and he just looked at it, his tired brain unable to comprehend the gesture
Unrelenting, you brushed your fingers across his forearm until you got to his hand. You gripped it firmly and tugged just enough for him to get the hint. Flames licked everywhere your fingers had trailed. It woke him just enough to follow your command. Slowly, he peeled himself off the couch. You helped him stand before dropping his hand.
He dragged his feet all the way to his room, and couldn’t even appreciate the freshly made bed and blankets with how blurred his sight was becoming. He absently noted that you pulled back the comforter for him, and then he was face down in the bed, asleep.
You gently pulled the covers over him. You started walking to the door, but stopped halfway. You turned around and stood over him, letting your fingers gather the green glow of chakra. You pressed your fore and middle finger against his temple.
As a shinobi, you knew intimately how terrifying dreams could be, and you had no desire to hear the effects of his while you were present. You pulled your hand back and watched him sigh deeply from his nose. With your medical ninjutsu, you provided him with a dreamless sleep, and left him be.

After a few more well-wishes to Naruto for a quick recovery, you made a half-hearted excuse to take your leave. You just didn’t feel like you belonged there. Sakura had left after telling Naruto her intentions to come along in the future, and Lady Tsunade started looking over Naruto’s chart and giving him updates on the others from the mission, while he and Shikamaru told each other highlights of the fights they both endured after being separated. But they were all…smiling. Naruto was describing one of Orochimaru’s henchman—some guy who used his own bones as weapons—and he was smiling. Laughing. Joking.
He had been on the brink of death a few times from the sound of it. But he only smiled and became more resolute. Same with Sakura, and even Shikamaru. It just didn’t seem right. You’d always known that shinobi were essential for the safety of the village, but for these kids to be reacting like this? And then Kakashi’s complete dismissal of you was the cherry on top.
You ended up wandering the village. You didn’t think your father or Ayame would be of any comfort. Neither of them would be able to actually be able to offer any insight, or probably even understand where you were coming from. You tried to see Iruka, but he was out on a mission since the village was still overworked. Most likely, Shikamaru would be given another assignment soon, considering his injuries were minor. Kakashi might have already been sent back out if Shizune had been able to find him.
You were nearing the big tree in the village center when you heard someone shout.
“Y/N!” Gai ran over to you.
“Oh, hello Gai.”
“I just returned from a mission, and I was just about to get some delicious dumplings! Please, come join me! It will be my treat!”
“Oh…I’m not sure I’m such good company right now.”
“Nonsense! You're better company than anyone! Please, I insist.”
And insist, he did. While you knew that Gai would be the absolute last person to ever force you into a situation you weren’t comfortable with, he linked his arm with yours and led you toward the dumpling stand with so much speed, you were tripping over your own feet. But this might be the best option you hadn’t considered. With Iruka’s absence and Kakashi’s evasion, Gai would probably be a uniquely perfect sympathetic ear.
The restaurant wasn’t too crowded when you arrived, and Gai continued herding you until you sat down at a booth in the back corner. The man looked completely in his element, greeting both the waitress and chef by name and placing an intimidatingly large order without even glancing at the menu. You were about to skim through to find something befitting your ruined appetite, but the taijutsu master plucked your menu from your hands and gave it to the waitress without a thought.
“Don’t worry,” he smiled. “Those combination platters I ordered cover every single type they serve here! Today, we feast!”
His enthusiasm was pretty infectious. As heavily as everything was still weighing on your mind, you couldn’t help but smile along with Gai while the waitress came by and gave you each a glass of water and a tea.
“Ah, there’s that springtime smile!” Gai took a full sip of his beverage before slamming it down on the table with his standard level of gusto. “Now, Y/N, tell me. Why would you ever say you aren’t good company?”
“Well,” you started tentatively, using one finger to draw a meaningless pattern in the condensation on your glass and avoiding eye contact. “Kakashi and I kind of had a fight.”
“Ah, Kakashi,” Gai sighed. “Sometimes my rival’s blood runs too hot for his own good.”
“It’s a little more complicated than that. You took a sip of tea to collect your thoughts. It wasn’t easy to summarize everything that had happened, since Gai didn’t even really know the entirety of the mission to recover Sasuke. But you did the best you could, starting with Sasuke leaving in the middle of the night and all the events that happened as a result: the five-man recovery squad, Kakashi running after them, the state of everyone when they finally made it back to the village.
Gai’s order started coming out of the kitchen, but the man didn’t take his attention off you as you got to the immediate issue: Kakashi suddenly turning ice-cold, telling you all those heart-breaking things. You couldn’t maintain eye contact, but the array of dumplings was a great distraction. Turned out, you were hungrier than you realized, the smells of the food making your mouth water as you spoke.
“Eat something,” Gai encouraged you, “please.”
You smiled gratefully and gathered a few different types on your plate. “Thank you, Gai.”
“Anything for my rival’s beautiful and passionate girlfriend,” he beamed and popped a dumpling in his mouth. His face went through a range of emotion; bliss at the flavor of the food, then empathetic as he remembered what you’d been saying. He swallowed the full bite heavily. “I know how Kakashi can be,” he started. “Please, allow me to apologize for his actions!”
You shook your head. “I’m not upset with him; I’m worried about him,” you explained. “He’s blaming himself for what happened with Naruto and Sasuke. He acted like he had just abandoned them, when nothing could be further from the truth.”
“He has always put the full pressure on himself,” Gai agreed, “even when we were children.”
“I just hate how hard it is on everyone.” You ate another dumpling to try and squash the despair rising in your chest, but it wasn’t quite enough. “I saw Naruto before I left the hospital. And he’s just so determined to go back out there after Sasuke as soon as he’s healed. He’s so upset with himself, that he couldn’t get Sasuke to come home. And those other boys who went with him. Shikamaru is upset that his mission failed, and Sakura is a wreck even though she’s trying to hide it. And Kakashi…”
“He lashed out,” Gai nodded solemnly, a knowing look in his eye like he had been in your shoes many times.
“He said I have no idea what it means to be a shinobi, and after seeing those kids, I’m starting to wonder if he’s right.”
Gai sat thoughtfully for a minute, taking a sip of his tea before he stared at you meaningfully. “It’s true that Kakashi is right more often than he’s wrong,” Gai grinned. “But in this case, he’s undeniably mistaken. With your compassion, you have everything it takes to understand what it means to be a shinobi.” His look was just as compassionate as he claimed you to be. “Kakashi will realize that soon. Otherwise, people will start to say that I’m the smart one.”
You laughed despite yourself, finally feeling the weight lift from your heart. “I love him so much. And I don’t know how to help him. He says he wants to be alone and I can understand that but…I don’t want him to think that he really is alone, you know?”
Tears gathered in Gai’s eyes as he beamed a giant smile in your direction. “So beautiful,” he wailed, the tears beginning to fall and soak into the dumplings on his plate. “Kakashi is so lucky to have you, someone who cares so deeply for him and understands him. I truly believe that you are the perfect match for him.” He snatched you into a tight hug and you could feel the river of grateful tears flooding your shoulder.
His outburst distracted the majority of the restaurant, and even though they weren’t particularly busy, you felt heat in your cheeks as you noticed all the attention on you. “Th-thanks Gai,” you stuttered.
Gai leaned off of you, looking slightly chagrined. “I apologize. It just fills my heart with so much happiness to see how passionately you feel for my best friend and eternal rival!”
You couldn’t help but smile at the exuberant shinobi. Even Kakashi’s detached tone as he spoke of his friend couldn’t disguise the effect that Gai had on him or the fondness they had for one another. You had to admit that it moved you.
“Well, I’m just glad he’s had you all this time.”
Fresh tears welled in Gai’s eyes, but he forced them back. “Like I said, I know how Kakashi can be. But that just means I also know why he can be like that. And I have seen so many people give up on him.” He put his hand on your shoulder, absolutely beaming at you. “It makes me very happy that you are different.”
He ate another dumpling and you smiled. “Thanks for bringing me here, Gai. You and I should spend more time together.”
“ABSOLUTELY!” he pulled you into another hug, nearly knocking the wind from your chest as you laughed.
The rest of the meal just continued to lift your spirits, you and Gai sharing easy conversation and funny stories with one another as more and more of the feast of dumplings disappeared. You shouldn’t have been surprised, but Gai attacked the platters with the same level of enthusiasm as he did everything. Before long, you were both reaching your limits (although you suspected he would happily eat twice as much if this were one of his rival contests).
Gai excused himself to take care of the bill, waving away your offer of ryō so quickly you were worried his wrist might snap. As you waited for him to return to the table, you overheard the conversation of two men sitting a few tables down.
“Did you hear?” one asked his friend. “Sasuke Uchiha abandoned the village to join up with Orochimaru. And that kid Naruto nearly died trying to bring him back!”
Your posture stiffened at their topic. The man spoke so casually, it churned the partially-digested dumplings in your stomach.
“Man, I get that they don’t have any parents, but someone oughta take responsibility for them. Don’t they have a sensei or something?” the friend responded.
The guy scoffed. “Hatake?”
“Hmph, that explains it. Cold-Blooded Kakashi strikes again.”
“Ha, he ran out of friends, so now instead of Friend-Killer, I guess he’s Kid-Killer Kakashi!”
“HEY.” The exclamation was out of your throat before you even had a chance to think about it. But you wouldn’t have taken it back even if you had the chance.
The men both looked unimpressed by your interruption. “What?”
“Don’t talk about him like that.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Kakashi Hatake. You don’t know him at all. So get his name out of your mouths.”
The men shared an amused look, like they were speaking to a child. “Excuse me?” the first man asked, turning back to you and resting his chin on his palm.
“Kakashi isn’t cold-blooded. He was out of the village on a mission when Orochimaru lured Sasuke out of the village, and Naruto was gone before Kakashi got back. But he didn’t waste a second before going after them, even though he had just been through hell. So how dare you talk about him like that? Just who the hell do you think you are?!”
“Us?” the guy laughed. “Who’re you, Hatake’s cheerleader?”
“I said…get his name out of your disgusting mouth.”
“Hey now, what gives you the right to make assumptions about my mouth?” the man sneered, leaning closer and meeting your challenge. “You haven’t been properly acquainted with it.”
“That’s enough!” Gai bellowed, appearing out of nowhere and diving between you and the man to create a human barrier. “Y/N, you don’t have to listen to this.”
“Now hold on, she and I were having a conversation. I’m just dying to know why someone like her would bother defending that worthless—"
You launched yourself at the man before you even considered the consequences. Thankfully, Gai’s superhuman reflexes caught you before you were able to make any contact and likely hurt only yourself. And even better, you surprised both of the jerks enough that they finally shut up.
Gai set you back on your feet and gave you a quick look to either warn or ask you not to try something like that again. It really shocked you how quickly Gai could switch from carefree to serious without losing a hint of credibility. Quickly coming back to your senses, you folded your hands behind your back and looked at the floor.
“Now,” Gai began, looking back at the men at the table. “Simply apologize to my friend, and we’ll be on our way.”
“Why should I apologize?” the man scoffed. “She’s the one who jumped into our conversation, then got all hysterical. The way I see it, she oughta apologize.”
Like hell I’ll apologize. Gai must have felt the way you bristled behind him, reaching back and placing his hand on your arm to ground you. “Don’t worry about these guys, Y/N. They aren’t worth it. Let’s go.”
He waited to allow you to leave first, keeping himself between you and those assholes in case either side started up again. The men must have realized who they were dealing with and decided to leave well enough alone, keeping quiet. You did offer the workers of the restaurant a genuine apology as you passed them, but they waved it away as though you hadn’t caused a scene. Still, as you made your way back to the center of the village, you felt that one more apology was necessary.
“I’m sorry Gai. I should have controlled myself better back there. I’m not even really sure what came over me.”
“I know exactly what came over you,” he beamed with pride. “All of the hot-blooded feelings you have for Kakashi sent you rushing to his defense, and it was a joy to see. But to ensure your safety, I had to put a stop to it.”
“You were right to.” You smiled and hugged him. “I think I’m going to head home. Get my adrenaline back to normal. I’m not sure how shinobi keep this up all the time,” you laughed.
Gai responded with a loud guffaw and a clap on your back. “Thank you again for your company today!”
This time, you pulled him into the hug. “Thanks for everything.”
 ⁂
Obito…
Kakashi’s hair hung limp in his face as he stared at the Memorial Stone. His feet were planted in a spot so familiar, he could feel the indents of his sandals in the earth. Proof of how often he had to admit his shortcomings.
“I’m sorry, Obito.” Kakashi spoke evenly and quietly. “I’m no better of a jōnin than I was when I let you down. And now, I’ve let down the last member of your clan.” His breath hitched. “Obito, I let down everyone. I still haven’t learned how to protect my comrades. I’m still…I’m still losing them. I’ve lost my entire team. Again.”
Kakashi’s hands trembled at his sides. “I thought things would be different. I thought I could live up to what you said. I tried…I tried to teach them the same lessons you taught me. The way that Minato-sensei taught us. My students remind me so much of our team. I should have known exactly what they needed. But I failed as a sensei. I wasn’t cut out to teach them. I couldn’t even recognize that Naruto and Sasuke were on the brink of killing each other. I was…”
Naïve. Distracted. In love.
“I was happy, Obito.” The honesty opened a chasm in his chest. “I should have known it couldn’t last. But I didn’t, and it cost those kids everything.”
That. That was the crux of it.
Kakashi had made peace with the fact that you were too good for him, and his time with you would certainly not be endless. He had been prepared to be with you for as long as you wanted him. But it had gotten to the point where he needed to make that call for you. If he had accepted the truth sooner, stopped delaying the inevitable, maybe he could have prevented what happened to his team.
If he had just let you go, been less selfish, put all his focus on his students…this visit to the Memorial Stone could have been completely different.
“RIVAL!”
Not now…
Kakashi turned to see Gai walking up to him with that big, stupid smile he always had. Kakashi aimed his most withering stare at his rival, but Gai chose to take no notice, walking up as though Kakashi had invited him.
“What is it, Gai?”
“I had a feeling I would find you here, Kakashi.”
“…Is there a problem?”
“No, not at all. But I heard what happened. And I just wanted to check on you, see if there was anything I could do to help.”
Unless you know where Orochimaru is—where Sasuke is—what help could you possibly be?
“Also, I ran into Y/N in town.”
Every one of his nerves lit up at your name. “Y/N?”
“She was upset, Kakashi.” Gai softly chastised him. “I know that what you’re going through is horrible. But please, don’t take it out on her.”
I never wanted to, he mentally defended himself. But I had to.
“What’s done is done, Gai,” Kakashi answered. “It’s over between us.”
Gai seemed confused. “You…broke up with her?”
“Well, no,” he admitted. I couldn’t force myself to do it. “But I did pick a fight. And after the way I spoke to her, she would be justified in cursing my name.”
Gai started laughing. Kakashi looked at him with fury in his eye, but Gai held up a hand to beg his friend and rival to show mercy. “I’m sorry Kakashi. I don’t mean to laugh. But actually, it’s quite the opposite.”
“What?”
“When I found Y/N, I could tell she was upset, and I invited her to lunch. While we were preparing to leave, she overheard an off-color comment about you. And Kakashi, she went up to the men and responded with a white-hot youthful outrage that I didn’t think someone of her stature would be able to produce! Defending you with the passion and conviction of a woman who’s witnessed her lover hang the stars themselves!”
What the hell is she doing? Kakashi was torn. The idea that you felt strongly enough to defend him tugged his heart in all different directions. Whoever this was that you overheard, Kakashi was sure this would just be the start of it. He had understood the importance of being entrusted as the mentor to the last surviving Uchiha and the nine-tailed fox jinchūriki, and although he could think of a hundred reasons why he wasn’t fit for the job, he had agreed to the Third Hokage’s request, only to fail even more spectacularly than he could have imagined.
Soon, the entire village would be saying all the same things. He would never ask or expect you to take on that animosity. It terrified him. But more than that, it angered him. Infuriated him; that you would be subjected to such hostility—that people would direct even a small portion of that disdain toward you—because you still cared for him, despite the terrible things he had done.
Well then. The answer was simple.
If the problem was that you cared about him…he would make you stop.
“Kakashi?” Gai addressed him, pulling him from his thoughts. “What’s wrong?”
“She shouldn’t have done that,” Kakashi responded, his voice low and simmering.
“Rival, she—”
“I don’t want her to do that.”
Gai blinked a few times before softening his expression. “She loves you, Kakashi.”
“She shouldn’t do that either,” he snapped. “I don’t wa—”
“RIVAL.” Gai cut him off. “Don’t you dare say you don’t want her to love you. I won’t allow you to lie to me.”
Kakashi looked again at the memorial stone. His eye locked onto Obito’s name automatically. His old teammate, now only an etching on this monument, because of mistakes Kakashi had made and could never take back.
“I told her I love her…right before I left for that mission.”
Gai’s voice softened. “Kakashi, that’s wonderf—”
“No. It isn’t,” he argued. “Everything fell apart after that. Things I should have been able to prevent. I don’t want her to be dragged down by my mistakes.”
“Well, she—”
He faced his friend with venom in his uncovered eye. “I won’t let her.”
Kakashi ran, leaving Gai and Obito behind. He could hear Gai’s objections, but he wasn’t about to turn back and give his irresponsibly goofy friend the opportunity to try and change his mind.
He heaved a sigh of frustration. Why were you making this even more difficult than it already was? He had been an absolute jerk to you back in the hospital. He had taken your offers of help and reassurance and thrown them back in your face. When you’d heard whatever grievances the man at the dumpling shop had, you should have joined right in.
Not that the thought of you striking up a conversation with a new man didn’t turn Kakashi’s stomach inside out. His feet skidded on the ground. It had been hard enough accepting that you wouldn’t be his anymore, but he hadn’t considered that there would be nothing stopping you from giving yourself to someone else. Could he honestly stand it if he saw you hand in hand with someone new? Smiling that perfect smile at some other man?
A selfish instinct kept him perfectly still. Maybe he should change his mind. Maybe this was his chance to take it all back. He could just apologize, and you would stay by his side, offering him all your love without question. Sure, the rest of the village would still hate him. But he could keep you.
And then everyone would turn on you, as well.
No. This was the only way he could protect you, and that was what he wanted more than anything. He just hated that that meant he had to be even more cruel. It was sadistic, that protecting you meant hurting you. But it had to be done.
He couldn’t be selfish. He’d already had far more of you than he deserved to have. He would do it quickly; hurt you one last time, so he couldn’t hurt you any more in the future.
With his mind set in stone, Kakashi was able to track you down easily. You were just walking through the park, seeming a bit listless in the way you moved.
“Y/N.”
You whipped around at the sound of his voice. “Kakashi! H-hi.”
The look on your face could have broken his heart all over again. You were surprised to see him, but more than that, you looked happy. Hopeful, like you thought he had sought you out to take everything back.
And here he was, getting ready to hurt you all over again.
“I need to talk to you.”
A tremor ran through his body when he saw the soft, secure look in your eyes. You nodded and willingly stepped closer to him, blind to the fact that he was a danger to you. Like he wasn’t a threatening, cold-blooded monster.
Wordlessly, he quickly guided you to his apartment. It was close and private. Not to mention he wouldn’t invite himself into your home, especially under these pretenses.
As soon as he whisked you inside, he shut the door to block out the unnecessary hatred and negativity that nipped at his heels. He was about to create enough of that himself; he surely didn’t need help from the rest of the village. Kakashi refused to turn and look at you, frustrated by what he had to do.
“So…” You blinked a little nervously as he failed to speak. “What did you want to talk to me about?”
He sighed, letting his head fall against the door. “Gai told me what happened. In the dumpling shop.”
“Oh,” you blushed at the memory. “I—”
Abruptly, he turned to face you, cutting you off before you had a chance to continue. “Don’t do anything like that again.”
“I…I’m sorry…” you stammered, taken back by his tone. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you.”
“That’s not—” His fingers curled into tight fists before he pushed his hitai-ate up and pulled his mask to his neck. “Just…stay out of it, Y/N.”
“But…” The look on your face went firm and defensive. “Kakashi, he said that you—”
“I don’t care what he said.”
“I do care!”
“Well don’t!” he thundered. Your mouth dropped open, stunned that the two of you were falling into an argument again. “You shouldn’t have done anything, Y/N. I don’t need your help, and I don’t need your pity. So just leave it alone.”
“It isn’t pity, you—”
“Stop.” He could feel the way his stare was wearing you down. “Stop defending me, stop taking my side.” It hurt like a blade, inwardly acknowledging everything else that you would stop. Stop loving me. “Just stop.”
You held eye contact for longer than he would have expected of anyone else, but he knew just how persistent you could be. “Why?” The question escaped your mouth on a shaky exhale. “Why wouldn’t I take your side when you’ve done nothing wrong?”
Kakashi turned back to the door, hiding the pain that was threatening to show through the cracks. “That was all I had to say,” he finished, opening the door to let you walk out of his life forever.
“Kakashi…” You walked up to him, putting a hand on his shoulder. He refused to turn, wishing to just block out your words. “What are you doing? Please, talk to me.”
“There’s nothing else to talk about. You should leave.”
“I know that you feel guilty for what happened to Sasuke and Naruto. And I know I can’t understand it but…can’t we just talk about it? I don’t expect to resolve everything tonight, but I don’t want to leave you like this again.”
He had to say it. It was for your own good, and you weren’t going to give him a choice. He had used all his usual tricks on you; acted as immature as the arrogant child he used to be; the reason people saw him as cold-blooded. But you were refusing to see him that way. So he looked away, and said the only thing you couldn’t misinterpret, no matter how badly he wanted you to.
“I’m telling you to leave me, Y/N. For good.”

Indulgence- Sweet as Honey 🍯
Tumblr media
This story was written quite a while ago, and it is definitely a self insert lol. I originally wanted to call is Sweet as Honey, then added Indulgence to it. This is kinda where I got my name from. The story is from Kakashi’s perspective, and quite long. There’s room for it to even be longer if I’m being honest. Anyways, let me know what you guys think! Thank you for reading 💕
———————————💕———————————
Warnings- Implied suggestive thoughts, afab reader, fluff
Word Count- 6k
Summary- Kakashi is a man that doesn’t like sweets. Yet he finds himself eating a lot of them lately. The sweets are not the only things he wants to Indulge in, he just hopes that she’ll let him.
———————————💕———————————
I have found myself indulging a lot lately. Taking longer walks, more frequent breaks, naps in the middle of the day. Finding the time to treat myself to things I don’t normally have. Sweets being one of them. Even though they weren’t something I enjoyed frequently, I found myself eating them anyway. All because I needed some excuse to make my way to the bakery every day. No matter how badly it hurt my stomach at days end.
It started when I got back from a lengthy mission, wanting to make myself a nice breakfast on my day off. The indulgence was small, just a simple loaf of bread, but it needed to be fresh. I knew the bakery by the flower shop had just opened up with new management- the old owner of the store finally retiring after over 50 years of running the place. Their bread was good, and so were their cakes (not that I ate cake often, but nonetheless.) I just hoped the new owners were as nice as she was, and had treats just as good.
On my walk there it was overcast, so I brought an umbrella. There was a slight chill to the air, cold enough to make my ears red. My nose would have been too if it wasn’t wearing a face covering. I warmed my hands with my breath through my mask as best as I could approaching the shop. The smell of bread and sweets already flooding my sinuses. Breathing it in I smiled and walked into the shop. It was early morning, but the bakery had been open for a few hours now. Hopefully they still have warm bread.
The bakery was small and very cozy. There was one spot for seating, shelves with recipe books, and the decor made it look lived in. It wasn’t too different from how it looked before, but a lot of things were updated and the walls definitely had a fresh coat of paint.
When I walked in no one was at the counter, so I browsed the cook books. I didn’t really need one, but it gave me something to do while I waited. Not long after I hear the voice of a woman behind the counter.
“Oh! Sorry ‘bout that, had to step away to show someone how to prep some pastries. What can I help you with today?”
Turning, my eyes locked with hers, the recipe book that I unsuccessfully tried to put back fell to the ground. This made her giggle, and I felt my cheeks getting warm. Thank god for this mask! Trying my best to brush it off, I laugh lightly and pick up the book, putting it in its proper spot. “Sorry about that, let’s see…” Stepping carefully towards the counter, I pray I don’t trip over my own feet next. “I uh, I’m not really sure what I want yet.” My eyes moved down to the glass display next to the counter and looked over all my options. There was a lot more than I had anticipated. Several breads, rolls and pastries. They all looked well made, like she put her whole heart and soul into them, yet I knew I was only here for a simple loaf of bread. My eyebrows knit together as I tried to think over which one would be best, slowly getting embarrassed by how long I was taking.
“Well… do you know what kind of baked good you’d like?” She asked in a very sweet voice. I looked up at her and her cheeks were as pink as I’m sure mine were. Her eyes almost had a sparkle to them as well. I wanted to keep looking, but I blinked and shifted my view back on the bread. Not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
“I need a loaf of bread, but I’m not sure which would be good.” When my vision shifted back to her, her eyes fluttered and a sweet smile appeared on her lips.
“My favorite is the Sourdough, but our Brioche is good too! It’s a pretty sweet and light bread. But if you want something without too much flavor, I’d go with the wheat.” As she spoke she took a step over to the display case and gently placed her hands on top of it. The new closeness made my heart beat out of my chest.
“Maybe I’ll go with the Sourdough then, since it’s your favorite.” I smiled at her with my eye in an attempt at flirting. Perhaps it was inappropriate, but I couldn’t help but admire her. The way her hair was done so perfectly, her makeup simple but well done. How soft her skin and entire being looked. Made me want to indulge in more than just bread.
Gracefully, the women behind the counter collected a loaf of bread for me and packaged it up. Setting it on the counter, she put what looked like a berry muffin right next to it. “Alrighty, since this is your first time coming in today I’m gonna give you this muffin for free. It’s a new recipe anyways, so I’m trying to get the word out about it.” Her smile was contagious. There was no doubt her actions were just very good customer service skills, but the idea of her doing something like this for only me made my stomach flip.
“Well that’s very sweet of you, I’ll make sure to let you know what I thought of it!” My eye focused on her as I spoke, proceeding to pull out my wallet. “I think I’ll have to try some other things you have here as well. What time do you guys open?” Her giggle did nothing but fuel the fire inside me as she took the money from me. I just needed more reason to keep the conversation going.
“Oh it’s nothing really! You’ve been very nice, so take it as my way of saying thanks- but we open at 6am. Gotta be open for the early risers.” I took my treats from the counter smiling, already planning on coming back tomorrow.
“Alright, then I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning!” Giving her an awkward peace sign, I casually slipped out of the shop. Popping open my umbrella as it was now raining. My thoughts filled with nothing but her the whole way home.
———————————💕———————————
The next day I got up just before the shop opened. I hadn’t finished the loaf of bread I had bought, but the muffin was long gone. Mindlessly I ate on it while I read, which was a big mistake. It was rather sweet, plus eating the whole thing made my stomach hurt the rest of the night. Yet I was ready to go in again and buy another sweet thing, just to talk to a girl I had only just met. It was almost infuriating how she ruled over my thoughts. Wanting to know every little thing about her. Today however, I made it my mission to find out her name.
The bell to the bakery rang as I opened the front door. The women from yesterday was stocking the display case this time. Looking up and smiling at me immediately. “Wow! You weren’t kidding when you said bright and early.” She came to the counter whipping her hands on her pink apron. She looked just as beautiful as she did yesterday, maybe even more so- if that was possible. “What can I get for you today?”
Walking right up to the counter myself, I placed my right palm on it and looked at her as I spoke. “Well I was hoping to get another recommendation from you! The bread and muffin were quite delicious. The berrys in the muffin were perfectly sweet, along with the cakey part.” I laughed as I gave her my review and looked over at the display case, then back to her. “So what do you think I should get today?” I cocked my head, smiling at her, hoping my body language wasn’t making her too uncomfortable. With how pink her cheeks were again, I could tell it definitely had some sort of effect on her- unless it was just coincidence.
Clearing her throat she hummed, and moved over to the display case. “Hmm… alright, how about. Yes!” Returning to the counter, she placed a bun in a bag, along with a couple bars that were individually wrapped. “Sweet buns are a guilty pleasure of mine, I eat them most mornings.” The same giggle as yesterday, made me laugh with her. “And these are homemade granola bars. One is almond and lavender, the other is honey and hazelnut!” The ingredients intrigued me, though I knew my stomach was not going to be happy with me. Despite that I bought them anyway, not wanting to say no to her.
“So… could I get your name? I know this place is under new management now, and I haven’t seen you around before.” Finishing my sentence, a couple came in behind me. I almost outwardly groaned, knowing our conversation was going to be cut short.
“Good morning! I’ll be right with you guys!” She greeted her new customers with a smile then turned back to me. “I’m Y/n, I’m actually the new owner of this place! My grandmother was the one who passed it down to me. I just moved back here from the Hidden Mist, that’s where my dads from.”
“Ah, I see! That explains why I haven’t seen you before. It’s lovely to meet you then, Y/n. I’ll be sure to stop by again sometime and tell you how these are.” With thanks I hung my head, and tried my best to leave quickly, not wanting to interfere with her work. There was still so much about her that I wanted to know. Why did she blush every time I spoke to her? Did she think of me as much as I thought of her?
Arriving at my apartment I shook my head at my thoughts. There was no way she thought of me that much. I was just plain, boring Kakashi. That’s when it dawned on me that I never told her my name.
———————————💕———————————
Today I was called away on a mission. It was not like me to be upset with having to work, but with my new found infatuation it was hard for me to want to do anything. Especially anything that didn’t involve me seeing or thinking of Y/n. That’s why I made up the excuse of needing snacks for the road. I doubted baked goods would hold up well, but one little thing wouldn’t hurt. Even though I knew I still had half eaten treats at home.
Arriving at the bakery I walked in through the propped open door. My sweet Y/N was stocking the recipe books today. She hadn’t noticed me yet, and with her not standing behind the counter I couldn’t help but let my eyes wander. My thoughts getting darker than they should. Stop that! Inappropriate! No! No! No! Shaking them off, I took a deep breath and took a step towards her. Trying my best to greet her without startling her.
“… good morning Y/n!” I said softly in her ear. Immediately making her jump, a book she had in hand going flying in the air. Quickly I grab it with ease, handing it to her with a chuckle. “Sorry, I was trying not to scare you!“
Y/n looked at me with her cheeks bright pink, clutching her chest. Awkwardly laughing she set the book on the shelf. “It’s alright, I needed a wake up call anyways. What can I get you today, Kakashi?” The mention of my name made my heart sink. She already knew my name?
“Eh- you knew my name?” I looked at her in slight disbelief, following her with my eyes as she moved to behind the counter.
“I mean, yeah… you are Kakashi the Copy Ninja right? You’re kinda famous.” She giggled, pointing it out as if it was something that should be obvious. I mean I was well known, but I didn’t think it spread that far. I blushed, feeling embarrassed in front of her yet again. “It’s okay!” Y/n laughed this time. “What can I get for you today hun?”
Hun? HUN!? She was throwing me so off guard today, I knew she’d be the death of me. My hands press to the counter trying to find something to ground myself. I knew the pet name meant nothing, I knew she was being nice, but I would have been more prepared if she attempted to throw a kunai at my chest. Taking far too long to answer, I eventually stammered out a response. “Dah- um… Oh, well, I was called on a mission.” As soon as those words left my lips my brain blanked. Y/n looked at me expectantly with kind eyes. She could tell I was flustered and gave me a smile.
“So… you need snacks for the road?” She guessed, pulling out a couple bags, never breaking eye contact with me. I nodded, knowing I was sweating at this point. What happened to my resolve? Yesterday I spoke so smoothly, now look at me! A sweaty nervous wreck who can’t even speak up. I found myself chewing on the inside of my lip as Y/n started filling the bags. “Don’t worry, I got you covered. I’ll even throw in some extra stuff for your team!”
Y/n proceeded to fill up a bag full of bagels, as well as a bag full of muffins. My stomach hurt just looking at all of it. Thankfully, I knew Naruto would be able to help me eat all of this. “Thank you… I'm sure my team will be happy.” My voice came out small as I paid her what I owed, giving her a tip as well to show my gratitude.
“Of course! You have a safe trip then! Oh!” She blinked rapidly remembering something. So cute! “I know you probably need to get going, but how did you like the things you got yesterday? If you don’t mind me asking, that is.” I definitely didn’t mind her asking. In fact I wanted her to ask me a million questions just so I could keep talking to her, even if that meant me being late to the rendezvous.
“They were very good! I see why your guilty pleasure is the sweet bun. I’ll have to get another next time!” I looked over at the glass display case to see if any were baked today, then locked my eye back on hers. “The honey granola bar was my favorite out of those I think. The lavender one I wasn’t too big on if I’m being honest.” She smiled at me, then looked back as another worker came out from the back with the buns I was looking for. My eyes widened and Y/n giggled.
“Here!” Quickly she grabbed one with a parchment paper and handed it to me. “Go ahead and take it, it’s on me. I appreciate your honesty! I’m glad you liked at least most of the things I gave you.” I took the warm bun in my free hand and felt my heart swell. This was the second treat she’s given me for free, and this time it wasn’t for the benefit of the shop. I tried my best to give her a sweet smile and bowed my head.
“Thank you, Y/n! I’ll be sure to repay the favor. I’ll come see you as soon as I’m back!”
“Oh please do! Have a safe trip! Hopefully the mission isn’t too strenuous! See you later Kakashi!” She waved goodbye as I stepped out of her shop. My breathing was heavy, and I could feel myself getting emotional from just her words alone. Clearly it had been a long time since someone had treated me this kindly. Did she care for me that much, or was she just a caring person. Either way I knew how felt about her. I adored her, and I wanted nothing more than to spend every waking second with her. Unfortunately I had work to do, so that thought will have to be saved for later.
———————————💕———————————
With the sweet bun consumed, I arrived at the Rendezvous spot fashionably late. A slight pain in my stomach that I tried to ignore. Lazily greeting my comrade’s of my team and Guy’s who would all be working together on a mission this week. A simple search and rescue mission.
“If my calculations are right, this mission should take less than a week to complete. We have plenty of leads, and with the help of my Ninken we should be able to pull this off without a hitch.”
“Kaka-Sensei! This mission is boring! We should ask for a different one, let Bushy Brow and Bushier Brow-Sensei take care of it!”
“It would be our honor to take full control of this mission Kakashi-Sensei! Let’s do it!” Lee from Guy's team posed with his palms up in a taijutsu stance, fully ready to take up Naruto’s request.
“That’s it Lee! Way to show your fighting spirit!” Guy encouraged, giving me a thumbs up.
With a groan from the rest of the group, I shoved the bag of bagels and muffins towards Naruto. “Absolutely not! It will go by a lot faster if we work together. Now take these and keep your mouth shut.” It didn’t take long for Naruto to get excited and immediately start pulling out bagels- Lee and Tenten joining him shortly after.
“Kaka-Sensei, I think we should all split up and have our own Ninken with us. That would be our best plan of action.”
“Thank you Sakura, I was going to do exactly that.” Forming the hand signs, I place my palm on the ground creating the summoning circle. “Summoning Jutsu!” With a puff of smoke four dogs appear, Pakkun, Urushi, Shiba and Bisuke.
“What is it now, Kakashi?” Pakkun asked in a gruff voice.
“Well good morning to you too!” I smiled down at the small pug. Wondering if Y/n liked dogs or not. “Today we’re on a search and rescue mission, so we’re gonna be splitting up. I’ll have you go with Sakura and Sai. Urushi you’ll be with Naruto and I. Shiba’s with Guy and Tenten, and finally, Bisuke. You’ll be Neji and Lee.” Crouching down I put an article of clothing in front of their snouts and lets them gather the sent. I cleared my throat trying my best to keep my head clear. My aching stomach is only making things worse. Really should have saved that sweet bun for later. “Alright, now that that’s settled, let’s all fan out from here. We’ll meet at the next spot about mid day. Use the coms if you find anything or need some assistance. Okay, let’s go!”
———————————💕———————————
By the end of the day we had made some progress, but still no signs of the missing individuals. We camped out for the night in a small wooded area agreeing to pick back up in the morning. We caught some fish and cooked them up, not wanting to head into potential enemy territory. At this point we were pretty close to the village hidden in the grass, hoping we wouldn’t run into any issues.
Around 9pm, most of the group was asleep besides Guy and I. He quietly worked out, while I sat against a tree reading Icha Icha. We kept to ourselves, until ultimately Guy decided to disturb my peace. The one time in the past two days I wasn’t tormented with thoughts of Y/n. “So, who’s the girl?” Guy asked, without stopping his set of push-ups.
I scoffed, playing dumb. “Tch- what girl? Who said there was a girl?”
“Really? Mr. “I don’t like sweets” Kakashi, just shows up with a bag of sweets out of random? Come on! There’s definitely a girl! Is it the cute one from the bakery?” He gets up looking down at me, hands on hips. “I heard she just moved here. You like her don’t you?” Guy pressed me further on the topic as he started to stretch. I rolled my eyes at him and looked back at my book. Though I couldn’t ignore the fact that my heart was beating so loud I’d be surprised if one of the kids didn’t wake up from it.
“I just met her, and they have decent baked goods. There’s nothing wrong with indulging a little here and there.” I tried to keep my voice calm and collected, hoping he wouldn’t call my bluff. There was nothing I hated more than talking about my own personal feelings. Especially when it involved my feelings towards other people.
“Oh come on Kakashi! You went to that bakery every morning for the past three days! You don’t eat sweets, so it has to be for a girl. Maybe you want to indulge in all that that sweet little lady has to offer you!” Guy raised an eyebrow suggestively, plopping down on the ground beside me. The suggestiveness of his comments made my cheeks heat up, I quickly moved my hand to pull my mask further up my face. Clearing my throat before I spoke.
“No… not at all. Drop it Guy, she’s practically a stranger.” At this point I was done listening. I put my book away and started to get myself ready for bed.
“Don’t lie to yourself Kakashi! This is the springtime of our youth! Learn to take advantage of it a little. Don’t let her slip through your fingers before she’s even in them!” I groaned knowing that he was right. This was all so new to me though. Having crushes, having relationships that lasted longer than a night, thinking about a singular person day in and day out. It just wasn’t like me, frankly it scared the hell out of me.
Laying on the cool ground I clutched my chest looking away from Guy. My throat got tight as I felt myself getting emotional yet again. “I- I just don’t know what to do. I can’t s- stop thinking about her…”
Guy chuckles and I hear him lay down. “Tell her what’s in your heart, Kakashi. I’m sure she’s thinking about you just as much!”
———————————💕———————————
The remainder of the week Guy’s advice never left my thoughts, along with the thought of what I was going to do next. Our mission was a success, with minor injuries. Me being the only one injured the whole time, which was a little demoralizing, but it was my own fault. My arm nearly got blasted off by one of Naruto’s rasengans because I was lost in my own thoughts. That’s why I decided that I needed to tell her. It was time I indulged in more than just the baked goods she sold to me. I just hoped she’d let me.
Arriving in Konoha, I turned in the report for the mission and went straight home to shower. If I was going to see Y/n I needed to at least smell nice. Maybe I’ll use the cologne I bought a while back and never ended up using. Hopefully she likes bergamot and firewood. God, why did I even buy this?
It was a little after mid-day when I finally made my way to the bakery. The walk there was spent rehearsing what I was going to say, and trying to shake the nerves. Just be straight forward. Offer to buy her dinner, make sure it doesn’t sound too forceful either. There’s a good possibility she’ll say no. The idea of being rejected made my chest feel heavy. I knew she was allowed to not like me back, to turn me down, or ask to just be friends. Though every fiber of my being just wanted her to say yes. Give me one of her sweet smiles and let me just whisk her away into eternity.
My feet stopped in their tracks as I almost walked right past the shop. Looking in the window I expect to see Y/n cleaning up, stocking shelves, or anything else. Right in front of me I saw Genma leaning against the counter, toothpick in mouth with a cheeky smile as he looked up at her. Her cheeks were bright pink, and she was looking at him intently. It almost looked like she was trembling. Was I too late? Did he beat me to it? Did something happen while I was gone?
My hand hovered over the handle on the door. I needed to see for myself what was going on. Maybe I could change her mind? Make her want me and not him. My self doubt and insecurity got the best of me yet again. I pulled away and walked off. Maybe this was for the best. She’d probably be very happy with him, and I wouldn’t want her to be unhappy. I’d most likely end up hurting her anyway… or even worse. Getting her killed.
———————————💕———————————
I had been gone for a week and within that time my infatuation was stolen from me. My guilty pleasure, my indulgence, my sweet Y/n. I watched the clouds roll by as I laid on my back in the grass. Arms fanned out, feeling utterly hopeless. This was just no good.
Perhaps my time of self indulgence had run its course. Maybe it was time to focus on missions again whole heartedly. Go back to training and teaching my students. It was silly of me to think that I could get something just because I wanted it. Silly of me to think I could indulge in something as rich and decadent as that. God she’s so pretty! The most riveting and alluring woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of looking at. What was I to her? What was Genma to her? Did he get free sweet buns too?
As my body began to relax, I felt myself starting to drift off as I lied there. Still only seeing her behind my eyelids. The cool breeze calmed my nerves and I took a deep breath. “Now then, sleeping won’t solve anything.” My hands run over my face and my fingers pinch the bridge of my nose firmly. Pushing myself to sit up, I had made up my mind. I will tell her regardless. She deserved to know, and I deserved to at least have a chance with her. Even if she ended up with Genma, at least I’ll know I tried.
———————————💕———————————
The bells to the bakery door rang as I opened them. It was almost closing time now and Y/n was finishing packing up some bread for an old woman. As soon as she saw me her eyes lit up, and she smiled real big. Holding up a finger so I know to give her a second.
“Alrighty ma’am, is there anything else I can help you with?” She asked sweetly, handing the bread off to her.
“Nope, that’ll be all.”
“Okay, then you have a great day! Thanks for coming in!” Y/n waved goodbye to the old lady, and immediately locked eyes with me as soon as she had left the store. As I approached the counter, I could see her pivot and then stop herself. A blush slowly reappeared on her cheeks again. “Hi!” She finally said, sounding nervous. “Ah- how was your mission?”
Seeing her nervous like this made me swoon. Though it paled in comparison to how she looked while talking with Genma. What did he say that made her so flustered? I racked my brain on what to say next, not wanting to ask her out right off the bat. She was at work after all.
“The mission went well! Found the missing people in little to no time at all, and with little injuries as well. Probably would have be none if I… well. If I hadn’t been thinking of you the whole time.” That did it. With those words her face was bright red. She must not be used to being flirted with, hopefully I didn’t make her uncomfortable. “I want to know how you’ve been. I have a lot of questions in fact. Would you mind chatting with me for a while once you finish up here?” Steadying my breathing I watched as the wheels turned in her cute little head. God the things I could do to her…
“Oh, uh, sure! I’d like that!” Y/n finally smiled, fluttering her eyelashes just right. It took every ounce of me to not grab her by the back of the head and kiss her right now. I just focused on my breathing yet again, making sure my words sound calm and collected.
“Okay, then I’ll be waiting at the Dango shop. Meet me there when you’re done!” Giving her a warm smile, I walked off. Heart thumping, my stomach doing somersaults, and I swear I was about to pass out. Maybe she won’t even show up.
———————————💕———————————
After an hour of waiting, sneaking sips of my tea, and twiddling my thumbs she appeared. Spotting me immediately she smiled and made her way to my table and sat down. She was wearing a new outfit and her hair was down, framing her face perfectly. Her beauty almost made me forget how to breathe. Not to mention the dress she was wearing sooted her so well. Loosed fitted, a light shade of green and a matching ribbon tied around the waist. My eye must have been heart shaped at this point with how precisely I was looking at her, not caring if she noticed either. Which she definitely did, because her cheeks were pink again.
Chuckling lightly, I poured her some tea. “Thank you for agreeing to meet with me. It really took everything I had to ask you here in the first place.”
Taking the cup from me she sipped it, and waved her hand lightly. “Awe well that’s sweet! It’s no trouble at all really, I actually wanted to talk to you anyways.” Her voice timid as I watched her tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. Please stop being so cute so I can think straight!
I cleared my throat, readjusting myself in my seat. “Alright, then let’s get straight to it then.” My hands fiddled with my cup as I thought of where I should start first. Genma. Start with Genma. I knew I had no right to be jealous, or feel as though she owes me anything. I just needed to know. “Earlier, when I got back in town, I stopped by the bakery. I uh- well obviously I didn’t go in, but I saw you talking with Genma. Um… it’s just. You looked very flustered. Your face was red, and.” Get to the point, Kakashi! “I was just wondering if you two were seeing each other. I don’t mean to corner you or anything, I was just curious.” I swallowed hard, hoping she wouldn't take my questioning the wrong way.
Her eyes widened, looking shocked. She didn’t look mad, though she was definitely not prepared for that question. My foot tapped restlessly as I waited for her response. Y/n shrugged and gave me a smirk. “No, we’re not. He did ask me out today though…” So he did beat me to it.
“And… how did that make you feel?” I looked at her, watching as her eyes looked at the tea inside her cup. She smirked then looked back up to me.
“Well, it caught me off guard. I had only talked to him once before. He seemed nice, but today he was…” She trailed off holding back.
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. I just thought maybe you liked him or something.” To that her eyes got big again and she looked like she was about to panic.
“What? No! I mean… there’s nothing wrong with him. I just… I don’t know. There’s uh, somebody else.” Her words were fast and ran together, the last part practically a mumble. Yet I could still understand her.
“I see. So if not Genma, then who? What did Genma do that made you say no?” I knew I was being bold by asking her questions back to back, but my chest was aching. Genma was an attractive man, very popular with the ladies. Why would a beautiful woman such as her say no to a guy like him? Who could be better than him?
Taking another sip of her tea her eyes shifted around the room. “He didn’t want to actually date me. He just wanted to take me home with him. I told him no, especially because he asked me while I was working. He… he just made me uncomfortable. Though, I don’t think I would have said yes even if I wasn’t working.”
“Because of the other guy?” She nodded and messing with her cup the same way I had. I guess Genma wasn’t as great as I thought he was. Guess that makes sense why he isn’t ever with anyone for very long. “May I ask who has your heart then, Y/n?” Trying to word my question just right, so she doesn’t feel too pressured. I watched as she averted eye contact with me and swallowed hard. Taking a deep breath she tried to speak.
“Well… I don’t know if he has my heart just yet. He does, however, take up space in my head 24/7.” She bit the skin on her lip slightly, her hands moving done to her lap as she looked away from me. Alright, no more playing around. It’s now or never. Tell her, but don’t get your hopes up.
“Can I tell you something? It’s something that’s been on my mind for the past week now, and I just can’t hold it in anymore.” As I spoke, I kept my eyes locked with hers. Her cheeks still pink as she nodded. Here goes nothing.
“Lately, I’ve decided to be more self indulgent. Be kinder to myself, treat myself more. Relish in the things I don’t get to enjoy as often. One of those things being baked goods. Ever since that day, the day I walked into your bakery. The moment I saw you. I knew you were what I desired most. I want to know you, I want you to know me. Maybe I’m wrong for saying that, especially if you have eyes for someone else. I just, I just can’t stop thinking about you Y/n. I like you, way too much for my own good, and it’s okay if you don’t like me back.” A weight was lifted off my chest once the words left my mouth. Y/n stared at me, mouth a gap, but she wasn’t red in the face. In fact all color had gone from it entirely. My eyes widened in fear that I had scared her, or she was sick.
“Oh god! A- are you okay? I didn’t mean to make you un- uncomfortable if I did.” My hands instinctively reached out across the table. With her eyes fluttering, the pink returned to her cheeks and she giggled. Carefully moving her hands up and lacing her fingers with mine. I looked at our hands, then back to her, my eye fluttering now in confusion.
“You, Kakashi. You’re the guy I have eyes for. To be honest, I’ve liked you since the moment I saw you walk past my shop on the day it was handed off to me. You’ve been on my mind since then, and it only got worse the moment you stepped foot in the bakery. I would love nothing more than to help you indulge with what your heart desires. Because I desire it too.”
With my face red, and hands sweaty I laughed. In total disbelief she reciprocated those same feelings back to me. I felt complete and utter joy. More content than I ever have, just holding her hands. My thumbs rubbing over them, loving how soft they are compared to mine. This was only a small indulgence from her, but I couldn’t wait to indulge even further. Grateful that I could now indulge in Y/n whenever I wanted.

Doubt was a very dangerous thing. It was debilitating, wholly and completely.
It was what kept you paralyzed in your bed, unable to move as you tried to convince yourself that you were no longer in the Red Room.
You closed your eyes, squeezing them tight enough that it was painful. When you opened them, you weren't in a bedroom anymore. Concrete walls surrounded you on all sides, illuminated by a flickering lamp hanging from the ceiling. You felt invisible restraints keeping your wrists tied down, but you couldn't move your arms to test their strength. You were being interrogated by Widows with more experience. Their loyalty had already been tested, and now it was your turn.
They were being ruthless. You couldn't breath. You could barely see past the tears clouding your vision, so you couldn't tell who was hovering over you.
They had to do it. You knew that. This was a test for them too, and their instructions were to treat you like you were the enemy.
A chill rushed through you. It reminded you of the cold, and of snow pushing into your spine in the frozen Siberian mountains. You blinked once, and suddenly you were back. You were on a mission, and your partner was hovering over you with a tensed jaw as she looked at the gash that started at your jaw and ran down your neck and shoulder until it stopped just above your chest. A gag was choking you, keeping you from screaming as your wounds were cauterized and sown sloppily shut with unpracticed hands.
You blinked again, and the pressure was gone. You were left twitching as the phantom pain faded from your neck. Your scar ached as if the wound was still fresh.
Slowly, the darkness of your bedroom faded back into view. You tried to force yourself back to the present, reminding yourself of why you were here.
Just the thought of completing your mission with Kakashi made your chest seize. The longer you waited for some sort of reprieve from the weight pressing against you, the harder it became to breath.
The Red Room was all you had ever known. If not for Sakura, escape likely wouldn't have crossed your mind. Fear was too powerful of a weapon, and Orochimaru was an expert weilder.
But now you were free. You were free, and you had no orders.
You're nothing without orders, a voice in your head hissed.
That voice wasn't your own. Instead, Orochimaru was whispering the venomous words in your ear, forcing you to believe that his guidance made you whole. It was the same as when you were gathered together with the other Widows, listening to him as he tried to convince you that he was the reason you were alive. That without him, you were nothing but an empty shell.
He gave your life meaning, he told you. Again and again and again until it was all you could believe.
He had always been very persuasive. You wanted to submit to his will even when he was a mere ghost floating above you. He was a shadow of himself, and he still had the power to completely incapacitate you. His power over you was still absolute.
"My Widow's will change the world," you remembered him saying once, and you'd believed him. You would've believed anything he said so long as it gave you purpose.
Your room was pitch black, and though you wanted to, your terror wouldn't allow you to move enough to turn on the lights.
It was hard not to see Orochimaru's face above you, forming through the deceptive shadows floating like clouds across your vision. He smiled at you. It was a smile that haunted you every time you saw it, first on his own face, then on Sakura's, and now here, conjured by a mere memory and your own pathetic fear.
Go away, you thought, lips cracking open in a soundless imitation of the words. Leave me alone.
"I know you don't want that."
His voice was like a shock through your body, familiar and terrifying. The words were foreign, so not from a memory, but the cadence, the tone, the addicting way he spoke that made you believe that your life really did have meaning—you recognized it all.
It was clearer than before, so much so that it almost brought you back. Back to your younger body, bowed at his feet and ready to do anything he said.
You just had to follow his orders, and you'd matter. You'd have a reason to live. A purpose.
Was he inside your head? Was he toying with you, waiting until you had let your guard down before taking control like he did with Sakura?
If that was the case, it meant that you were compromised. You would be a liability on the mission, and more importantly, you would be a danger to Sakura.
"Shit. Shit."
You gripped the sheets in white-knuckled fists, trying to calm your racing heart. In the dark, you began wondering if you had been fooling yourself all along. It was possible that you'd never left the Red Room in the first place. Maybe none of this had been real.
Maybe Sakura had never been real at all. Maybe she was just the ghost of a companion that you conjured up to help cope with the sad reality of your existence.
You were out of bed and through your door before your mind had a chance to catch up with your movements. You were working through your emotions so slowly that you barely realized you'd moved at all until you were stepping down the hallway, feet falling heavily in a rare moment of carelessness. You knew that Kakashi was a light sleeper, or he wouldn't have heard you struggling against Sakura nights earlier.
Though it wouldn't really matter if Kakashi had never existed in the first place.
When you reached the hospital door, you wasted little time pushing it open and stepping inside. Sakura was there, sleeping soundly and deeply on her side, chest rising and falling evenly.
Relief rushed through you in a wave, but it was gone as quickly as it had come. You realized with a start that, if Orochimaru really had gotten inside your head, then you should've been as far from Sakura as possible. You should've been out of the compound entirely, where you wouldn't be a threat. Your desperation had made you careless. Again.
When you turned to leave, you had to fight not to lash out when you saw Kakashi blocking your exit. He stood in the doorway, arms spread to either side of the frame as he looked at you with bleary eyes.
"What are you doing here?"
He didn't look nearly as suspicious of you as he would have a few days ago, but caution still lingered. You saw it as he looked past you, checking to make sure that Sakura was safe.
"I hear him," you said, breathless as you tried to speak through your growing panic. There was no easy way to explain your muddled thoughts, and Kakashi's furrowed brow was evidence enough that you weren't articulating your panic well, "he's in my head. I heard him earlier, and I had to...to make sure..."
You knew you weren't making sense, but Kakashi understood enough to pull you out of the room and shut the door firmly behind you.
Prioritizing Sakura's safety. It was what you should've done from the beginning.
"Tell me again. And slow down."
You shook your head. How were you supposed to explain this? If you did, Kakashi would remove you from the mission. Probably kick you out of the compound.
He might killed you.
"Orochimaru," you whispered, "I heard him earlier. He's in my head."
Kakashi's eyes widened only a fraction, but he showed no other sign of alarm. He just looked at you, watching you carefully before giving you a calculated once-over. When he deemed you in-control of yourself and largely unaffected by what was happening other than your panic, he turned and began walking towards his bedroom.
"Come on," he said, sounding tired again.
He led you inside with little hesitance, closing the door behind him and sitting back on the bed in the middle of the room with an exhausted sigh. You stood awkwardly a few feet from him, not exactly sure what he expected you to do from here.
"He's not in your head."
Panic was still eating away at you, but you looked up at his words. Anger pierced through your anxious shell, flaring into something like hatred.
No. Not hatred. This wasn't the same as that.
"Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what's real?" you snarled, hands itching to wrap around his throat again. "I know what happened. I was there. Are you really so arrogant that you think you know what it's like inside my head–"
"You have PTSD," Kakashi interrupted. You paused, anger freezing over. It was still there, still looking for some outlet, but it faded into a cold shock as Kakashi's words sank in.
"I know what it looks like. I've seen it firsthand. This isn't like what happened to Sakura. You're hearing his voice because he tortured you."
Tortured. It sounded so foreign. It sounded wrong. It wasn't torture, it was training.
"I would've known. I would've felt something like this before now," you muttered, refusing to meet his eyes. You knew he was staring at you, and looking back felt like it would've been an admittance that he was right.
An admittance that you weren't being controlled. That you were just broken.
"Did you ever get a break from it?" Kakashi asked, "I don't know what happens there, but I know one thing: Sakura isn't the same as when she left. There's a reason for that, and it's the same reason that you're hearing his voice.
"But now you're out, and he can't get to you. Your brain just hasn't had time to catch up until now."
You laughed. It was short and harsh and completely involuntary. You couldn't afford breaks in the Red Room. If you'd let your guard down, you probably would've lost your mind.
You laughed again.
"Christ," you whispered, "so now I get to be haunted by his voice for the rest of my life just because I've let myself relax? What a sick joke."
Orochimaru's voice hadn't come back since you'd been alone in your room, stuck with your racing thoughts. You didn't want to admit to yourself or to Kakashi that his assessment had some logic to it, partly because being haunted by Orochimaru's voice wasn't exactly your idea of freedom, and partly because you didn't want to admit that Kakashi was right.
"I'm still going on the mission," you finally told him firmly, prepared to turn and leave at the slightest hint of hesitation. You weren't going to let this get in the way of what was important, and right now, saving Sakura took priority over trying to figure out what was happening in your head.
"I know," Kakashi said lightly. You looked up to see that he had settled into his bed, hands pillowing his head and eyes closed. You wondered just how badly things would've ended if you kicked him in the stomach. Maybe that would've released some of the tension building in your chest.
"Good," you said instead, turning on your heel and swinging his door open. You gave him one last glance, trying to see if this had done anything to make him trust you less. You were half expecting him to stop you from leaving and take you back to your cell, deeming you too unstable to be wandering around the compound. But he looked perfectly content where he was.
He didn't seem eager to continue the conversation. His eyes were still shut, and you knew an invitation to leave when you saw one.
The thought of going back to your bedroom made you shiver. Echoes of Orochimaru's voice were still lingering in your mind, and now that you were alone, you could hear them getting louder.
Instead, you walked in the opposite direction, guided by the dim glow of fluorescence that eventually brought you to a small kitchen. A quick glance told you that it was rarely used, which was evidenced by the constant presence of take-out boxes around the compound. The fridge was similarly understocked, but you moved cartons and containers to the side until you found an unopened water bottle.
"Oh."
The voice froze you in place, leaving you gripping the drink hard to keep yourself from reacting on instinct. Once you calmed enough to evaluate who had spoken, your grip on the bottle slackened, and your eyes fell shut. His was the first voice you'd heard when you woke up here, and he had made sure to keep his distance from you since then.
When you met his gaze, Naruto was watching you with wide eyes, frozen in place as if any movement would make you pounce. You stood just as still, trying to look as nonthreatening as possible.
The image of his face pressed against the bars of your cell came to mind, and you winced. You'd been out for blood the moment you woke up, willing to barrel through anything and anyone to get to Sakura. He had just happened to be the first person in your path.
"Um," he took a hesitant step forward, then thought better of it and backed away, looking around as if the answer of how to handle the situation would be written on the walls somewhere, "I...just came for some ramen."
You nodded, giving your best attempt at a friendly smile and backing away from the fridge to let him pass. He took his opportunity, slipping through the door and hugging the counters until he was against the opposite side of the room, still watching you as you replaced him in the doorframe.
"Good night," you spoke quietly, head bowed. It felt foreign, especially in the face of a weaker opponent, but it was all you could think to do to ease the tension in the room and make him feel a bit safer in your presence.
It only took a moment after you left for you to hear the clatter of pots and pans as Naruto began preparing his late-night snack, and you smiled. At least you weren't threatening enough to completely paralyze him. It was just your proximity that made him wary.
Approaching your bedroom again was just as daunting as leaving it had been. You tried not to let your mind wander past what was right in front of you. The hallway that led to your bedroom was cascaded in a low, ambient light. The door to your bedroom had been left open, and the sheets were a tangled mess on the floor. Your reflection was haggard, more-so than it had been when you'd left the Red Room.
Your mental strength was waning. You couldn't even stand to focus on the present for more than a few seconds before the past came creeping back to the forefront of your mind, latching on and refusing to let go until it had leeched you to complete exhaustion.
It was with the image of Orochimaru's grin in your head that you fell asleep, where he followed you into your dreams.

"Kakashi!"
The familiar voice was grating to Kakashi after very little sleep, but it wasn't unwelcome.
Kakashi knew that Sasuke would object to having Guy stay in the compound during the mission, but considering the circumstances, he didn't really have another option. Sakura's combat skills had clearly improved during her time in the Red Room, and if she could overpower Sasuke and Naruto while in some sort of trance, then all of this would've been for nothing.
Sasuke whipped around toward Guy's booming voice, something like betrayal clouding the glare that he shot at Kakashi.
"Thanks for coming," Kakashi extended a hand towards his friend. Guy bypassed it, pulling Kakashi into a crushing hug that he'd been hoping to avoid.
"Alright, Guy," he grunted, "good to see you too."
"This must be Y/N!" Guy beamed at where you stood in the far corner of the room. He released Kakashi and held his hand out, approaching you with heavy steps. Kakashi scowled at the all-too-normal greeting that Guy never reserved for him. You took his hand hesitantly, offering a tight-lipped smile in response to Guy's enthusiasm.
"Thank you for doing this," Kakashi interrupted. The silence was becoming tense, and he didn't like the look in your eyes as you studied Guy. Like you were analyzing an enemy.
Kakashi had tried not to make you seem like a threat when he'd explained the situation to Guy, but his efforts had been pointless.
"She could be playing you."
While he knew that you were likely used to this much animosity, the tension that constantly lifted your shoulders was doing nothing to make you seem less suspicious.
"It's not a problem," Guy grinned again, though it wasn't as bright as before. "Kakashi, a word?"
The request was casual, but the tense smile on Guy's face sent the opposite message. You were looking between the two carefully, meeting Kakashi's eyes for a moment as he led Guy out of the room.
"Are you sure about this, Kakashi?" he asked when they were just barely out of earshot.
"Sure about what?"
Guy huffed, and his frustration didn't escape Kakashi. He knew that the man was just worried. Kakashi would've been too, and in any other situation, he wouldn't have been so irritated by the constant questioning of his judgement. But this was different. He couldn't complete this mission without you, and he couldn't save Sakura without this mission. If she stood any chance of breaking from Orochimaru's hold, then there was no avoiding this partnership.
"You know I trust you, Kakashi. If you say that she's reliable, then I believe you. I just don't want to see you getting attached to another lost cause."
Kakashi bristled.
"There's nothing to worry about," he said shortly. Guy bit down on the inside of his cheek; maybe that comment hadn't been the best mode of diplomacy.
"You know what I mean. If she's a double agent, then I doubt you'll have any chance of saving Sakura."
"I'm trusting my gut here," Kakashi said firmly, hoping that this would bring an end to what felt like a never-ending argument, "you didn't see how desperate she was to make sure that Sakura was safe. When Sakura attacked her, it was like she was in shock. Faking things like that isn't easy."
"You can't build a false sense of security based on something 'not being easy.' You need to be sure."
Kakashi paused at the look on Guy's face. It wasn't one that he saw often, and he couldn't help the sliver of doubt that entered his mind. Was he wrong about you? Was this mission a mistake?
Should he have taken your advice and locked you up?
No, he thought, shutting his eyes to block out Guy's calculated gaze. This isn't about doubt. There are only the facts: this could be the only way to help Sakura. If something goes wrong, I'll deal with it. But I'll cross that bridge if it comes.
Guy seemed to sense Kakashi's resolve and deflated, tension melting from his shoulders.
"If you're sure," he said, grin falling back into place. He placed a weighted hand on Kakashi's shoulder, giving it a squeeze as he walked past. Kakashi leaned back against the wall, shutting his eyes and attempting to stop himself from coming up with dozens of worst-case scenarios. Instead, he thought about how much you seemed to care about Sakura. About how you had shielded her with your own body when Kakashi came to rescue her. You were prepared to die for her, and right now, that was enough for Kakashi. It had to be.
When Kakashi finally followed Guy back into the lounge, he almost laughed at what he was seeing. It seemed that Guy had gotten over his apprehension towards you rather quickly, as he was in the middle of a very enthused and very one-sided conversation with you about one of his students. You nodded along, but Kakashi could see how hard you were gripping your seat. You weren't really listening to Guy, instead fighting some instinct leftover from the Red Room. The padding on the chair was flattening under your palms, and Kakashi wondered if you'd end up breaking it before Guy was finished talking.
The television on the opposite side of the room was playing quietly, but Kakashi wasn't surprised to see Sasuke watching your and Guy's interaction carefully.
"Guy? What are you doing here?"
The sudden scrape of your chair against the floor startled Naruto more than Sakura's voice had. He spun towards the commotion at the same time that Sasuke jumped over the back of the couch, standing in tense anticipation of your movements. Kakashi closed his eyes in silent prayer that any god out there would lend him some strength.
"Sakura," you began walking towards her, but paused when Sasuke mirrored your movement, eyes narrowed dangerously. You contemplated continuing on anyways, but stayed where you'd frozen in the middle of the room, gaze shifting back to Sakura, "you shouldn't be moving around. Doesn't your head still hurt?"
"I mean...yeah, a little. That doesn't mean I have to stay on bedrest though, right?"
"You shouldn't move too much until we can figure out what happened," Kakashi told her. "We still don't know how Orochimaru's tech was triggered."
"It was probably manual–"
"We don't know that," you spoke softly, meeting Sakura's glare head-on, "that's what Kakashi and I are going to try and figure out. But if it's automatically triggered by some kind of movement, we need to know so that we can stop it from happening again."
"So you want me to just stay in bed for months?"
"No," you and Kakashi said at once. Sakura grumbled something about strict parents before marching to where Sasuke was sitting stiffly on the couch. She fell back on the cushion between him and Naruto with a deep sigh, ignoring Naruto's attempts to talk to her. When she turned, she gave you and Kakashi a look that asked, is this good enough for you?
Despite her frustration with him, Kakashi couldn't help but scan his students with barely concealed fondness. It was the first time in nearly four years that he'd seen them like this, all together and safe in the compound. Naruto was laughing at Sasuke, who had decided to join you and Kakashi in scolding Sakura for being careless.
Kakashi wanted to stay. He wanted things to be the same as they'd been before Sakura was taken.
"We should go," you spoke at his side. He'd barely heard your approach, and he tried not to let any surprise show in his eyes. That doubt from before was still lingering, and if you really were a double-agent, he didn't need you knowing that you could sneak up on him.
"Right."
Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke were back to watching you carefully. Kakashi gave the room one more glance before he left to get the jet ready. Sasuke scowled at you as your gaze followed his teacher, wary of being alone with the others without him. Kakashi was the only person aside from Sakura who even remotely trusted you, and with Sasuke's doubt about Sakura's state-of-mind, Kakashi was the only person keeping him from you. Guy likely wouldn't stop him if Sasuke decided to confront you, and Naruto would keep Sakura from intervening; he just had to avoid anything physical.
He stood when he heard Kakashi's footsteps fade into silence, storming towards you and meeting your eyes with a practiced glare.
"I will only say this one time," Sasuke spoke quietly, ignoring Sakura's plea for him to stop. He heard Naruto hushing her, telling her that this was for the both of them. That you had attacked him, and they still didn't trust you. She quieted, but Sasuke felt her eyes at his back, "if you come back without Kakashi-sensei, I'll make sure you never see Sakura again. And if I find out that you betrayed him, I swear that I will hunt you down for the rest of my life."
The room fell into a heavy silence. You felt it pressing against your shoulders, trying to make you buckle under the gaze of everyone in the room. A room filled with people who didn't trust you.
You met Sakura's worried eyes for a moment before looking back at Sasuke.
"I understand."
"That's enough, Sasuke," Sakura pushed the boy to the side, blocking him from you and scowling, "you made your point."
A glower was the only response Sakura got before Sasuke was storming back to the couch and sitting silently next to Naruto. Sakura turned back to you with a deep scowl. You only chuckled, reaching a hand up and mussing her hair. In the days since you'd seen her, she had brushed through it and braided it behind her back, keeping all but a few strands away from her eyes. You tucked the rest behind her ear and smiled, shaking your head when tears filled her eyes.
"You have to promise that you'll come back," she whispered, "so that we can finally be free together."
"I'll be alright," you said, trying to smile despite the growing pressure in your chest, pressing against your lungs and making it harder and harder to breathe.
"And...and take care of Kakashi-sensei," she sniffed, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. Your eyes widened at the request, but you tried not to let your surprise show when she looked back at you, "you guys are going to be a good team. I know you'll protect each other."
You blinked at her, opening your mouth to explain that you didn't think Kakashi wanted the two of you to be considered a team, but thought better of it when you saw the hope in her eyes. She needed you to be a team. She needed you to keep each other safe so that you would both come back to her.
This was it. This was the purpose that you'd been searching for since you ripped yourself from Orochimaru's clutches.
Sakura needed a mentor. She needed someone who would protect her and look after her as she healed from her experiences in the Red Room.
Kakashi had always been that person for her. You became a placeholder when he couldn't be there, but it was him that she needed. You weren't stable enough to help her heal. You had the same fucked up mind that she did.
Kakashi would live. You would get him back to her, and you would make sure that he was there for her as healed from Orochimaru's torture, even if it cost you your life.

Day 9: Chosen at first sight
@flufftober
Pakkun took his sweet time to notify Kakashi. He had already started to think that Pakkun wouldn’t show up at all when he finally heard the familiar scratching at his door. With a sigh, Kakashi got up and walked towards the door, opening it in a swift movement. He looked down and as expected, Pakkun sat on his hindlegs and gave him his typical displeased look. He ostentatiously and very slowly lifted his paw and licked it, all the while holding Kakashi’s gaze. Kakashi waited until it became clear that Pakkun wouldn’t speak up, then he asked, “Did you gather all available candidates?”
Pakkun gave his paw another pointed lick before he replied in a disapproving tone, “So you’re not going to even ask me inside?”
Kakashi stifled another sigh and crouched down so that he was at least a bit closer to his ninken. “I’m sorry, Pakkun. Would you like to come inside?”
Kakashi could’ve sworn that he saw a frown on Pakkun’s face when the dog replied, “So that you can waste even more time? No, thank you. Get moving, we’ve got a job to do.”
Something in his ninken’s small face told Kakashi to better not protest and so he did what Pakkun asked from him and followed the dog outside. He couldn’t help but notice that Pakkun was even grumpier and terser than usually. He had known that Pakkun was not happy with his decision and even less pleased with the fact that he had been outvoted by the other ninken but he didn’t expect him to hold this much of a grudge. And somehow, he had a soft spot for Pakkun and couldn’t just ignore his ninken’s feelings.
“How long are you going to be angry with me, Pakkun?” he asked while he followed the dog along the streets of Konoha.
Pakkun paused for a moment but didn’t look at Kakashi. “I am not angry with you, boy,” Pakkun growled.
Kakashi raised an eyebrow even though Pakkun couldn’t see it. “It sure seems like it,” he said.
This time, Pakkun came to a halt. He sat down on a fence post, almost the same height as Kakashi’s chest which was an improvement at least. The dog gave him a long look before he sighed himself – which was rather adorable, considering Pakkun’s pug-like appearance – and finally revealed what was bothering him. “What if the new guy won’t be a good fit? You won’t be the one doing most of the training, I’ll be the one stuck with it.”
Kakashi couldn’t help but smile in relief. “How about we choose the new teammate together?”
Pakkun’s ears perked up and suddenly, his eyes took on a hopeful look. “Are you for real?” he asked, his tail slowly starting to wag.
Kakashi nodded and felt his tension fade away when Pakkun’s face went from grumpy to almost cheerful. “Now that’s way better, boy!” Pakkun barked excitedly.
When he set himself into motion again, his movements were way more vigorous and Kakashi almost had to run to keep up with him.
After another ten minutes of brisk walking, they finally reached the remote training ground that Pakkun had chosen for the presentation of the candidates. Even though Kakashi didn’t consider himself to be overly delightful, he couldn’t help but mutter a small “Aww!” to himself when he saw the half dozen of puppies playing in the grass around an old, dignified ninken. He started smiling almost without noticing when they walked towards the older ninken. Pakkun didn’t seem to take notice of the puppies but Kakashi couldn’t help but notice their big dark eyes and the tiny pink tongues that stuck out while they were tussling in the grass.
When they reached the other ninken, Kakashi bowed respectfully. The dog replied with a graceful nod before he spoke up. “These are the candidates we would like to present,” he said in a raspy voice. “Please take a careful look at them before you make your decision.”
Kakashi nodded and after Pakkun and the other ninken had exchanged a couple barks, they both walked towards the pack of puppies. All of them were of different shapes and colors, big, small, light and dark fur, one had big spots and another had pointy ears that perked up when Kakashi and Pakkun came closer. While the puppies did seem somewhat interested in the newcomers, they didn’t stop playing with each other until Pakkun exhorted them with a bark. One after another came toddling towards Kakashi and Pakkun, each giving them a good sniff before they sat down in a rather chaotic line in front of them. The older ninken came closer and started presenting the puppies to them, mentioning their names and the personalities they started to show as they grew older.
Kakashi wasn’t entirely sure at what point in their life a ninken puppy started to take on the traits and abilities that made them a suitable companion for a shinobi. Pakkun had already warned him that those puppies would be too young to speak yet, at least in a way that Kakashi would understand. This was also one of the things that Kakashi’s other ninken would have to teach the new puppy. However, Kakashi could already see the wit glisten in their dark eyes when the puppies examined him. Choosing a ninken was usually a delicate process in which not only the shinobi had to make a decision, but also his other companions and especially the new puppy itself. After all, they would form a bond for a whole life span.
Kakashi let his eye wander over the puppies. All of them were more than adorable and they even showed their potential by sitting mostly still, obeying the older ninken’s orders. But while examining the puppies, something caught Kakashi’s eye. A bit behind them, the grass rustled even though it was a windless day. He exchanged a look with Pakkun who also curiously gazed at the moving patches of grass. Suddenly, the tip of a black tail appeared between the blades of grass, slowly moving closer as if something – or rather a little someone – was steadily creeping closer towards them. The other puppies did not seem to notice the threat closing in on them but Kakashi couldn’t keep his eye of the small tail which now started wagging excitedly. And just as he was about to say something, something jumped out of grass and into the line of puppies, sending them tumbling to both sides. Wild barking ensued when the startled puppies faced their attacker. It stood five against one but the small black puppy fiercely stood its ground, digging its little white paws into the ground. It bared its tiny teeth and growled, all the while still wagging his tail. And before the older ninken had a chance to get things in line, all of the puppies started chasing each other around again. The ninken let out a massive sigh and barked at them. The black puppy ducked its head and ruefully put its tail between its stubby legs. But in its dark eyes, Kakashi could see a hint of mischief.
Kakashi glanced at Pakkun and once he saw his amused look, he gave him a nod. Pakkun returned the nod, letting his tongue hang out in a rather gleeful manner. Kakashi sat down and ignored the stern look the older ninken gave him. The black puppy gave him a keen look and before the older ninken even allowed him to, it slowly toddled towards Kakashi, its nose wiggling curiously. Kakashi held out his hand and the puppy cautiously sniffed at it – and before Kakashi had the chance to react, the puppy gave his fingers a big lick and started wagging its tail cheerfully.
Kakashi started smiling and when the puppy askingly nudged his hand with its small head, he instantly started petting it. “Who is this?” he asked the ninken who eyed them with a whimsical look in his eyes.
“Her name is Kiyo. She’s the youngest of the bunch but she does show early signs of fierceness and perseverance,” the ninken said reluctantly. And while the puppy stared at Kakashi with its big, dark eyes, he added more softly. “She’s a kind spirit.”
Kakashi gave Pakkun one last glance to assure himself that his ninken had also made his decision and when Pakkun gave him an approving smile, he gave the puppy a solemn look. It did seem to notice that something grand was happening and it sat down in front of him, eyeing him patiently. Its little white paws shuffled slightly as if excited for what Kakashi was about to say.
Kakashi nodded to himself and gave the puppy a soft smile. “Would you like to be a part of our team, Kiyo?”
The puppy seemed to consider his question. It tilted its head thoughtfully and blinked two times. And then, Kiyo started wagging her tail excitedly. With a big hop, she jumped into Kakashi’s lap and started licking his fingers enthusiastically.
Pakkun grinned at Kakashi and came closer, sniffing Kiyo curiously. “Welcome to the team, little one,” he growled proudly.

“Hey, what did you get for that last exam?”
“I got a sixty four out of one hundred. That exam was really hard.”
“No way! That exam was super easy! I got a ninety seven out of one hundred.”
“Well not everyone is a ‘know it all’ like you ……!”
“Well maybe you’re just a moron. Anyways [....], what did you get for the exam?”
“Oi! [....]! ”
A hand was wavering around your face, causing you to jolt back from your seat. “Huh? I-I’m up!” You stammered. Your two classmates looked at you as if you were a clown. The friend who woke you up–Sakura Haruno repeated the question to you.
“[....]. Me and dumbass Naruto here,”
“Hey!” Naruto Uzumaki interrupted. “I’m not a dumbass! It ain’t my fault that the test was hard!” He puffed his cheeks and Sakura rolled her eyes. “Anyways, after I was rudely interrupted! What did you get for the exam [....]?” Sakura asked again. You looked down at your desk. You then took a sheet with your exam grade and read it to your classmates. You can feel their shock reaction despite not seeing it for yourself.
“Damn [....],” Naruto said, “That’s even a more awful score than I got..” You shrugged at Naruto’s comment while Sakura punched him in the head, she then quickly got back to her composure. “[....], aren’t you concerned that your grade is so low?” She asked you. “Meh, I can just retake it. And besides,” You leaned on your chair. “If I fail college, then I’ll just get a sugar daddy, easy as that!”
“Excuse me [....]?”
A voice called out, hushing the classroom. You turned around to see your professor, Mr. Kakashi Hatake glaring at you maliciously. “You can be a sugar baby all you want when you leave my class, but I expect you to actually try on my exams. I know you had quite a bad score with your (...)%”
You felt your face heat up with embarrassment as you heard other students whisper and snicker behind you. “Since you want to act like a fool in class, why not meet me after school today?” “Y-yes sir..” You muttered, lowering your head in shame. A small smirk crept up in the inside of his mask.
“That’s my good student.”
The class then erupts with students' gossip as Naruto and Sakura gaze at you with concern. “Oh you’re in for it now [....].” Naruto warned. “I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Naruto. Do you have any idea what you’re getting yourself into?” You innocently shook your head. Sakura sighed and whispered in your ear. “Well, I heard he sometimes gets students suspended. And some were expelled. She then placed her hands on your shoulders.
“You gotta be careful [....]. Who knows what he might do to you?” “Yeah,” Naruto agreed, “we’ll be praying for you.” You then let out a reassuring chuckle. “Don’t worry guys, I’ll be fine. What’s the worst that could happen?”
You shouldn’t have said that.
You should NOT have said that.
Or maybe you should’ve…
Now Professor Kakashi is one of the most easy going teachers you could ever have. However, he can have his serious moments. But there was another side of him that you would have never expected. Well now mentioning it, it’s quite obvious that he was rather ‘strange’.
You stood there in front of your teacher’s door, clutching your school bag, you knocked on the door three times until you heard a “come in”. You opened the door to see Kakashi already at his front desk.
“I’m glad you came here [....].” He spoke. “Yeah…” You sighed, averting your eyes from your teacher. “I’m sorry about what I said earlier. I didn’t necessarily mean what I said.” Through his mask, Kakashi gave out a comforting smile. “That’s alright, but I didn’t call you in for that at all.” “Oh really?” “Remember, I’m here to help with your exams,” Kakashi got up from his seat and walked towards you. He leaned his back to reach your gaze, the silence was enough for you to hear your own heartbeat.
“So please be thankful that I’m being generous enough to guide you. Most of your college professors wouldn’t do that…”
“...Y-yes!” You gulped. Kakashi smiled again and went back to his desk and sat down.
“Now, I have some of your papers that we need to review, so would you come here.” He asked in an odd tone, gesturing you to come next to him. You obeyed his order and walked over to his desk, standing right next to him. You leaned forward in hope to see your corrections. “You know [....]...” Kakashi whispered, pulling you in by your waist. “If you have issues looking down, how about you just sit on my lap?” You darted your eyes to Kakashi, who was still using that devilish smirk to antagonize you.
“W-what?! Professor! I-” ‘‘Now, now [....]. We’re the only people inside the campus, and it’s not like you were denying me.” Well, he wasn’t wrong about that. You abided by his order and sat down on his lap and his arms instantly went around your waist.
“Now let’s begin with our lessons shall we?”
….
“Now, this won’t be so easy-peasy.” Kakashi warned. “If you get a question right, then I’ll give you a reward. But,” He rested his chin on your shoulder, causing you to shiver with pleasure. “If you get any answer wrong, I’ll have to give you a punishment. Understand [....]?” “Yes sir…” You whimpered. Kakashi smiled and then guided you to the first question.
“Alright question one…” He read you the first question, and you wrote down your answer. He looked at your answer digitally and looked at another paper he was holding.
“Congrats [....]. Your answer is… Incorrect.” He whispered, pulling down his mask to nibble on your ear. Your body jolted from the sudden action as a moan escaped from your lips. “H-hah! Mmnngh.. Ahnnn… K-Kakashiii…” You moaned, arching your back. Your professor chuckled warmly at you. “Look at you baby..” He cooed. “Already a moaning mess when I barely did anything to you.” He hugged you tightly before asking you the next question. Still vulnerable, you wrote down the answer. Kakashi then repeated what he did for your first answer choice, the sinister smile on his face grew.
“And ding dong… You’re absolutely wrong…” He purred. He dived to your neck, kissing and sucking on your skin and creating hickey patches. Kakashi used his free hand to slide up your uniform shirt, feeling and pinching at your nipples. “Kakashi?!” You yelped. “W-what? What are you doing?” “Huh?” Kakashi mocked. “Don’t act like you’ve been craving for this [....]. You’ve wanted me to do this from the start, haven't you?”
You shook your head in denial. “Why else would you gaze at me with those flirtatious eyes of yours? Why else would you have arch your back so far up to my desk just to sharpen a pencil, just so I can see your plump ass? And of course..” He got up close to your ear again.
“Why else would you fail almost all of your assignments and exams for me to help you?” Ooh he got you there. “But..” You protested. “Oh? Are you trying to defend yourself, trying to saying that you’re sooo dumb that you need me to take baby steps with you?” He held up your chin and kissed your cheek.
“My cute dumb little student…”
His hand then traveled from your chest down to your pants. You let his hand play with your sex, shoving his fingers inside of you. Causing you to moan loudly. “Ohhh Fuck! Kakashhii~! Kakashi please…” “That’s professor Kakashi to you.” He said sternly. “Ahhnn, I’m so sorry.. Please, please forgive me..” You begged. “Hmm, perhaps… Unless you do a pop quiz..” Kakashi placed down a five question quiz sheet. He then ordered you to stand up only for you to be bent down towards the sheet, revealing your naked ass.
You knew exactly what he was gonna do next.
“Now, depending on how many times you get a question right or wrong, I’ll either fuck you faster or slower. Alright baby?” You let out a sigh and nodded your head. Kakashi then removed his own pants, revealing his swollen cock. You almost screamed as he leaned towards your back and slid inside of you, penetrating your prostate. You quickly relaxed and got into the rhythm of Kakashi humping you slowly. “Ahaha.. Go on baby..” He groaned. You answered the first question. You did as he said and circled your answer. Kakashi stopped for a moment, grabbed a pen and wrote a check mark on the first question.
“That is correct..” He cooed, making you giggle. He then resumed again, only now, he was humping you more slower than usual. Almost as if he were teasing you. “Ahhnn.. A-ahh! Professor… Please… Please go faster…” You whined, clenching on the edge of the desk. “Hmm.. How about instead of whining, how about you use your mouth and hands to answer the next question!”
He smacked your ass in response to your complaints, causing you to shriek and arch your back. You hurriedly answer the next question. Kakashi stopped to look at the sheet again. Kakashi then grabbed his pen and wrote an “X” on the sheet. Kakashi smiled and then guided you to the first question.
“Sorry [....], that’s wrong..” He then resumed again, humping at the earlier pace he was in. Your fingers trembled as you tried to write the answer to the third question. When you did, Kakashi wrote another “X” mark silently.
“Wrong again? You must be doing this on purpose now aren’t you?” “Haah.. Maybe I am..” You sassed, earning you another slap in the ass. “Don’t you know better not to talk back to your teacher?” He groaned, fucking you deeper inside of you. The feeling was enough for you to whimper and moan excessively, tears were blurring your eye vision. You struggled answering the next question. But Kakashi purposely wrote your answer wrong, knowing damn well it was correct to spite you.
“Ohoho.. Wrong.. Wrong.. WRONG!” He yelled, slapping your ass for the third time. “You’re just a dumb little slut are you huh? But you’re my dumb slut got it?” “Ahhnn~! Fuck.. Fuck..! P-professor~! I’ll be your dumb slut.. Make me yours~!” “Yeah? Is that so? Then take my cock.. Take my cock as I cum inside of you. That is an order from your professor…” You moaned loudly as Kakashi then slammed hard on your back as he cummed violently inside of you. He then slumped down on top of you.
Kakashi then locked your hands with his own and kissed your ear. “That’s a good student.. Relax for me now okay..?” He asked, his voice now softening. You did what he said and relaxed your body slowly. “Yeah that’s it… You’ll always be my dumb little student now won’t you?” You smiled and let out a sweet sigh. “Yes professor,” you replied.
“I’ll always be your dumb little student..”

“Keeping it a secret” (1/2)
Fic for the 2nd day of SS Shoujo week 2023! At first I wanted to keep it short, but eventually turned out that it's out of my league. This is the first part of the story, I will hopefully post the second (and the last) one tomorrow, as of my fic for the 3rd day of the event. And it will surely contain much more SasuSaku! Building it up now. :] Prompt: Class trip Summary: Hiding your relationship in with Mr Popular may be difficult. Especially on a school trip! Word count: 1851
One dreaming of living in the bosom of nature could never find a better place to stay than Suna. Spending whole evenings on romantic walks along those white-sand beaches. Bidding a farewell to the down-going Sun as it’s on its way to rest, leaving the world in the Moon’s care. Suna truly seemed to be the perfect area to anyone seeking peaceful oasis throughout the summer.
Although, that wasn’t the case here. Kakashi truly hated the climate of the place he had to spend his next few days at, but what was even more frustrating than high temperatures making him feel as if he was boiling within the four walls of an average hostel, was the ear-splitting noise accompanying him for most of the time. Upon hearing another cry of the most unpredictable pupil Konoha Highschool was to ever have, Kakashi rose his eyes from the book he was reading visibly annoyed. Glancing over at his students gathered around him, he exhaled deeply with a tired look on his face.
“You kids… Make me remember something”, he admitted, in a serious tone of his voice, whilst the group of boys was looking at him with their hearts beating wildly fast, waiting for the permission they were hoping to receive. “I really hate this job.”
Defeated groans of the bunch of teens carried in the hostel’s living room. Disenchanted. That’s how one could describe what was going in their heads right now. This aura was certainly sensed by Might Guy, PE teacher, who was just entering the longue and gave them a surprised look. Putting his hand on his hip, he asked:
“It’s 9 am and you guys are already in such a bad mood? No way.”
That was their chance. The last chance, to get what they desired and have been planning for weeks now, ever since the school trip was announced. They had to take all the measures, to win this. They needed someone with perseverance, who will fight for their case until the last drop of their blood. And upon having noticed their last resort, Naruto as a self-proclaimed leader of the group forced his way through the classmates. As he stood in front of the teacher, he put a serious face on, contradictory to the pleading look in his eyes.
“Please, convince Mr Kakashi so that we could organise a party tonight.”
Guy shook his head, moving his gaze to Kakashi who was now back to reading his favourite Icha-Icha Paradise.
“Boys. You must learn that youthfulness isn’t just about having fun. It’s also the time when you need to learn the sense responsibility, that you will pass like a torch to your families in the future”, as he was speaking, the last hope was flowing out of Naruto’s body. How come they lost? It wasn’t just, and he could never agree to it. But then, Guy proceeded with his short speech. “Therefore. Just make sure you bring no alcohol to the party. If I smell it from anyone of you… you will be running around the hostel all day tomorrow.”
Seeing his legendary pose, with his thumbs up and smile shinning brighter than the Sun on the sky in the middle of summer, boys caught their breaths for a minute, when processing what just happened. And then, it was high time to explode with joy.
“Come on boys! We have a party to prepare!”, Naruto yelled, feeling the pride flowing in his veins.
Sasuke sighed. He had already made plans on how he was going to spend this day. And now he was sure, sneaking out with his girlfriend of five weeks, won’t be as easy as he hoped it would be.
We have a problem.               Guy gave them his permission.
Sakura could feel a vein pulsing on her forehead when she read the text from her boyfriend. Of course, Naruto managed to get that freaking permission. Usually she admired his persistence, but today, it could get no worse! They were supposed to sneak out in the evening together with Sasuke to spend some time on their own. She even found online some pretty beach bar nearby, where they could stay for some cold drinks. And now, it seemed that it all was gone to a burton.
Having noticed the annoyance boiling up in her friend, Ino stole a glance at her phone. A smile creeped onto her face as she read the name of the sender.
“Oh, you two lovebirds!” she sighed, wrapping an arm around girl’s shoulder. “Seems Naruto accidentally put a spoke in your wheel, no?”
Upon hearing her voice and the words flowing out of her mouth, Sakura immediately hugged her phone in fluster, covering its screen.
“Pig!” Her voice was surprisingly high-pitched. “How many times do I have to tell you this! Don’t look at my phone, when I’m texting with someone!”
Ino laughed and fell onto the sofa. Sitting with her legs crossed she seemed to be wondering about something, while Sakura was fighting with the blush conquering her cheeks. Lovebirds, she wasn’t quite used to it yet. It still felt so fresh and awkward to think they were dating, even though she has been dreaming about it for a really long time now.
“You should be more quiet when speaking about it”, she said once she composed herself enough to use her regular voice. “I don’t want others to find out.”
“Yes, yes… But Sakura, I still don’t get it!”, she protested. “Why are you guys hiding? Girl, you’ve pulled the hottest guy we have at school! There’s nothing to be ashamed of!”
Sakura immediately hushed her, taking a place next to her on the sofa, thinking about the answer. Honestly, she wasn’t sure herself. At first, she only wanted to enjoy the bloom of their relationship in silence, away from questions and curious looks. Sasuke wasn’t a fan of this idea once she brought it up on their first day. Actually, Sakura was almost certain her boyfriend wouldn’t agree to it. But he eventually chose to respect her wish and give them some time before announcing that they are dating.
However, that definitely wasn’t her only reason. The more days was passing, the more worried she was about the reaction of others. She didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, but on the other hand, she started to fear their friends will be disappointed with them for keeping it a secret for so long.
“Anyway…”, Ino broke the silence between them, knowing she probably won’t receive any answer as her friend was already immersed in thoughts. “Nothing is lost yet. You and Sasuke can still sneak out during the party.”
“Huh? But Ino, Naruto wanted to have an all-male party… He’s going through his alpha phase after he argued with Hinata.” Sakura had a disappointed look in her eyes, and Ino couldn’t stand that.
“What about it? All-male party… that’s cute. If they don’t invite us, we will invite ourselves.”
Haruno still had no idea how to do it. But the wink the blonde gave her was clear. She had a plan.
Preparations for the party were in full flow. A small square of the beach with a furnace fell within the area of the hostel they were accommodated in. Naruto had hard times convincing the owner to let him have a party there, but again, for whatever reason he managed to get his way. And now, the boys were bringing all the stuff they could find useful. They even convinced Neji from a parallel class to lend them his Bluetooth speaker to have some music playing.
Sasuke was grumpier than ever. That is, to say the very least. Standing under a rooftop covering the terrace, he kept observing every step of his classmates. He was trying to figure out how to leave unnoticed, and every new idea seemed even more stupid than the previous one. Naruto had already declared that he will make sure Uchiha has the time of his life tonight, and he will be by his side the whole time. Like the best buddy should.
This must be a fucking joke, Sasuke thought to himself. He knew that Uzumaki was through a rough breakup, but there’s a limit to everything. Naruto totally perceived him as a partner in his solitude, and Sasuke totally didn’t intend to be one.
“You’re a prime example that a real man needs no gal! Shoulda taken your cue long time ago!”, he once said when being completely wiped out. It was shortly after they got together with Sakura. Naruto called him for him, telling him it’s an emergency. And things couldn’t get more awkward. He still could feel the shiver going down his spine, thinking about all the rubbish Naruto spitted that night.
Before he even realised, most of the work was already done. Some of the guys went to buy some drinks and snacks, while others took some seats and kept discussing something keenly. As he was about to join them to see what the exact plans for the night are, he heard his phone vibrating. He took it out of his pocket and unlocked the screen.
We will get into the party. In advance, don’t be mad at me! x
He read the text from his girlfriend once. Then once again. What on earth was she planning? No idea. Was he getting worried? Heck, yeah. Sasuke didn’t have enough time to get lost in thought any more. A group of girls was already visible from afar.
She still couldn’t believe Ino’s idea won.
“Told you, boys are boys. Simple as ABC. What do they like? Drinking, girls, and fun. Can you merge those three things into anything better than spin the bottle?”, she asked unfazed as she was fixing her makeup in their room.
“Boys aren’t that simple at all… There is absolutely no way they are going to outvote Naruto just because of some silly game”, Sakura said ending her sentence with a humph.
And there she was. Standing among the people as the party was about to start. She adjusted the strap of her dress, looking around to find Sasuke. They were classmates after all, no? This won’t be suspicious if she approaches him during the party.
Having finally spotted the boy that made her heart skip a beat every single time he looked at her, she started walking towards him with a smile on her face. Sasuke was leaning against the wall of the terrace, staring at the sea.
“Hi!”, she smiled at him, as there was now less than a meter between them. She was so happy to talk to him. Ever since they came here, they kept missing each other. Boys and girls were lately terribly divided in their class, even though the alignment of their team was amazing before.
“Hey”, he responded, sizing her up. She wasn’t sure if it was a sudden cool breeze of the wind, or was it the atmosphere that suddenly grew cold, but she could feel the goosebumps forming on her skin. Something was off.

You feel a pang of guilt entering work the next week. Akio was anxiously waiting for you in your office on Monday. How were you going to explain to him what was going on? And what if Kakashi’s spies see you? What if his spies get the wrong idea?
“Y/N how about we go grab a late lunch together?”
“Akio that sounds lovely, really, but I can’t”
“What about tomorrow?”
“Akio, umm, remember when you asked me if I had a boyfriend or something?”
His face fell. “You have a boyfriend?”
“Or something…” you finish
“I can’t say I’m surprised. I didn’t really expect a girl like you to stay single. I guess I waited too long to make my move.” he said disappointed
“Akio, I’m so sorry for leading you on.”
“Is there anything I can say to change your mind?”
“No” you say looking down. “You’re a wonderful guy and I had a really lovely time. I just…”
“Have a something”
“Yeah”
Akio stands there quietly for a while, letting the silence fill the room before finally saying “well, if anything changes, let me know” He kisses your forehead and walks out of your office. You stand there alone praying Kakashi’s spies didn’t see that last part.
Weeks went by without a word from Kakashi. You started to wonder if you made the right choice about Akio. Was Kakashi mad at you? Was he ever coming back? The last time you were together it was different, what if it became too real? Maybe he regrets it, or maybe he’s just on a really long mission. Why wouldn’t he just tell you how long he was supposed to be away? You didn’t know whether he was tired of you or injured. Worry etched on your face as the pug that was slowly spending more and more time in your apartment hopped on the couch and sat with you. He pawed at your leg whimpering.
“Sorry little guy, I just worry about him. I wish I knew if he was okay, or if he was thinking about me. Knowing anything is better than feeling like this.” you say before scratching behind his ears.
Starting to feel fed up with the silence, you spent more and more time imagining how different your life would be if you chose Akio. Why is this bothering me so much? I was never bothered by Kakashi’s absences like this before. Is it cause I thought things would be different after the last time? Is it cause I finally got a taste of the kind of relationship I could’ve had? You are always lost in thought these days but the thoughts never helped. It had been nearly a month and you were about to give up.
Tonight you came home and while walking up the stairs you saw them. Much to your surprise, you found flowers left at your door with a note, ‘You know what I like.’
“Crop top, lace panites and a pony tail.” you mutter to yourself as you walk inside and place the flowers in water. “Welp, at least this time there’s a warning, that’s new.” The pug you let inside as you entered hid his face in his armpit. You laughed, it was almost as if he knew what you were saying.
As frustrated as you were, you couldn’t help but smile. He was finally coming back. Maybe you’d get some of your questions answered. “Sorry, little guy, you’ll have to sleep outside tonight.” He looked sad but you reassured him, “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna kick you out without having supper first.” The little dog started wagging his tail, pleased with your answer.
After supper, you go to your room and change. Wearing a thin white crop top made of soft fabric and bright pink lace panties that ride high on your hips but are cut in a low V that plunges down accenting your figure in the most erotic way. You tie your hair up in a matching pink satin scrunchie and head back out to the living room to let the dog back outside.
As you open the door Kakashi enters. Standing centimeters from your face.
“Hi” you breathe
He doesn’t respond. He turns off the lights and immediately lowers his mask to kiss you. Walking backwards you sloppily make out all the way to your bed.
You missed him. You didn’t even know how much you missed him till this moment. All the doubts you had washed away as you tasted his soft lips.
His calloused hands ran up and down your back and through your hair before one wandered down and started rubbing your clit through the lacy fabric. You mewled as he did so, taking off his uniform. Continuing to walk backwards till you fell on your bed, his body on top of yours, his weight pressing you down. It was heaven.
You continued kissing him, running your fingers through his silver hair, happy to see he wasn’t swatting you away. Instead he grabbed under your back and pulled you in tighter, lifting you off the mattress. He kept his face close to yours as you released your kiss.
“Did you miss me?”
“Yes, Captain.”
He kissed you again pulling you into him. “Did you miss me?”
“Yes, along with every. Inch. of your. Body.” He kissed your body between each word making your breath falter. Allowing you to lay back down on the bed, he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear and he rubbed his length on your belly, his breath shuddering. “I need you”
“Yes, Captain?”
“My body aches for you when I’m gone.”
“Yes?” Your heart starts to flutter
“I can’t control my thoughts when they’re about you.”
“Captain…”
The sweet kisses turn to fits of passion while he grabs you tight, the lust he feels is different this time. It’s like a fire burning through his chore. What was this feeling? He couldn’t hold you tight enough, he couldn’t be close enough to you. He needed every ounce of himself infused into you.
He reached down, moving your panties to the side to tickle your bud but felt your slick already puddling and grinned. “I guess we can move forward with the main event.” His tip touched your entrance causing a chill to run down your spine. With a breath he slipped in. He went slow, savoring each little movement. He was studying every ridge of your walls, every pore of your skin, every strand of your hair. It was as if this was the first time he had ever been with you.
Your body was aching for him to pick up the pace. You squirmed and whimpered, causing him to laugh. “Are you needy tonight, good girl?”
“Mhm” you say with a pout.
“I’ll make you regret that.”
With those words he plunged in deep, bottoming out in one go. You moan loudly. He enjoys that you no longer hold back your noises, grunting in response to your moan. “You like that, huh?”
“Yes, Captain”
“Good.” he says with another plunge. You moan even louder.
“That’s right, how much do you love your captain’s dick?”
“So much”
“Do you want any other dick in this hole?”
“No, Captain, only yours. You make me feel so good.”
He begins to thrust harder and harder, picking you up so you are sitting on his dick. You tuck your feet under you so that you are on your knees but he is still in control, thrusting up causing you to move up and down on his length. He feels your tits bounce  against his chest with each stroke. The fire in his stomach swelling at the sensation. One of his hands wanders up to your hair fisting it. You let out a small whimper of discomfort but it only eggs him on. He holds you tighter, thrusting you up and down. Your fingernails dig into his shoulders.
“That’s a good girl, bounce on my cock”
“Yes, Captain”
You take more control over the pace gliding up and down on him. Just as you established a rhythm he pulls your hair back forcing you to sit all the way down on his cock, balls-deep. “Ah!”
“Yeeees, take it”
“Yes, Captain”
“Were you a good girl waiting for me?”
“Yes, Captain”
“I know you were. Only good girls get flowers.”
“Thank you Captain”
“How thankful are you?” Tugging your ponytail back he slid out of you, flicking your clit as he did. “Show me.”
He rose up and touched your lips to his tip. You kissed it before wrapping your lips around his girth and hollowing your cheeks. Tasting yourself on him as you bobbed up and down. He grunted with pleasure but you wanted to show him how happy you were to see him again, so while your nose was pressed against his lovely abs, you stuck out your tongue to get a lick at his balls.
He pulls back on your ponytail again, greedily growling as he looks down on you.
“You want to play, huh?”
You firmly grab his length in your hand and stroke as you lower your face to his jewels. You lightly sucked on one and then the other. You felt him twitch as you did. You licked up the bottom of his shaft, plunging him down your throat, holding yourself there, before licking back down him only to fit both his balls in your mouth, running your tongue between them as you sucked. The groan coming from him reverberated off your bedroom walls. You released with a wet “pop” smiling at a job well done.
Feeling ravenous, he spun you around pinning your arms behind you as he took you from behind. Grabbing a pillow, he put it under your pelvis to deepen his angle. You yelled as you felt him hitting your cervix. Your poor walls hadn’t been stretched out by him in weeks, now here he was stuffing his entire length into you over and over again. Your face was shoved down into the mattress with each stroke muffling your screams. Both of your legs pinned together with Kakashi’s knees on either side of them, You were so tight around his length as he rammed into you. You felt your brain scramble with each snap, so fast and violent. Your guttural groans encouraged him as he went.
“That’s my good girl, that’s it.”
Your eyes rolling back, creaming around his girth, he rode you through your orgasm
“Yeees” feeling your walls clamping down on him.
He flips you onto your back again, keeping the pillow under your hips, stroking even faster, before pulling out and spraying your face. “Lick it” he says, offering you his tip. You lick it lightly causing his breath to hitch at the sensitivity.
He leans over you as you lay down, kissing your messy face. You missed him abusing you like this and sighed. You got up to get a washcloth for your face then noticed he began changing back into his clothes.
“You’re not going to stay?”
“No, I have to report back.”
Feeling confused about being brushed off after he had bought you flowers, you finally found the courage to ask, “Kakashi, what are we?”
“What do you mean?”
You begin to put on your crop top and pink underwear as you explain, “You come here just for sex, then you ambush me on my date, stay the night with me, buy me flowers and here you are using me just for sex again. Do you want to date me or not?”
“I don’t want to date you.” Hurt was stamped all over your face as you turn on the light.. “I don’t want to date anyone.”
“Then why do you pursue me?”
“I shouldn’t, but…for some reason with you, I can’t help myself. Despite that, we can’t be together. That is the truth.”
“Kakashi… if you’re not going to be with me, then please… just leave me alone.” You say softly, no more than a whisper. Feeling your heart break as you say it.
“What? So you can go date the first and only guy to ask you out in the past 3 months?!”
As he said it, he regretted it. As angry as he was at the idea of you and Akio together, he realized he said too much and saw the light go off in your head.
He was right. Akio was the only guy to ask you out in months. Not to toot your own horn or anything but you got asked out or at least flirted with a couple times a week. Your mind had been too preoccupied with thoughts of Kakashi to even notice. The one and only time you were asked out, was it because Kakashi was too busy with you to stop it?
“Kakashi, what did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“What. did. you. do?”
“Nothing”
“What have you been saying about me that made men stop asking me out?”
“Oh, cause you think everyone wants to ask you out.”
“No, but enough of them do that it’s strange that since I’ve known you, only one of them has.”
“You wanna know? Fine! When I see men staring at you, I threaten their lives. That’s what I do.”
“Are you KIDDING me! Do you know how psychotic that is?”
“Does it even matter? You’re with me.”
“Except according to you I’m not!”
“None of them were good enough for you.”
“I should get to decide that for myself!”
“You don’t need to.”
“Let me get this straight, you won’t be with me but nobody else is good enough to be with me?!
“They just wanted to use you for sex.”
“How is that any different than what you’re doing!”
“That’s not what I’m doing!”
“That’s exactly what you’re doing!”
“It’s different!”
“No, it’s not. What, somehow you’re the good guy and they’re all the bad guy cause it’s not your dick?”
“Y/N, it’s NOT the same!”
“How is it different?!”
“CAUSE THEY DON’T LOVE YOU!”
Stunned, you stay silent. Tears welling in your eyes.
“And you do?”
“Y/N, I…”
“Kakashi don’t. You don’t get to say something like that. Not under these circumstances.” Tears are streaming down your face.
“Y/N, I can’t let you be with anyone else.” he touches your cheek, whipping your tears.
“You don’t get to make that decision for me!” You storm out of your own home, half naked and crying. Leaving Kakashi standing in the middle of your living room. His head drops as Pakkun strides inside and comes up next to him
“Kakashi, it doesn’t feel right to keep following her like this. I think you should leave the girl alone.”
“It’s not up to you”
“Kakashi…”
“Don’t start.”
“Fine, if you need me, you know what to do.” Pakkun disappears with a poof.
Remembering you were practically naked, Kakashi realized he needed to find you and bring you home. He panicked. Bolting out the door, he jumped rooftop to rooftop till he found you, crying and wandering down an alleyway.
A man rounded the corner and approached you. “Mmmm, what do we have here?”
You sniffled and looked up suddenly realizing your state of undress. “What? Oh, I, uh…” Shit! Panic began to set in.
Just at that moment Kakashi leapt down and punched the man with so much force he was knocked out in one blow but that didn’t stop him. He kept swinging at the lifeless body on the ground. You ran over afraid he was going to kill the man.
“Kakashi, stop! He’s unconscious. Stop! He’s had enough!” You try pulling one of his arms back.
He looks up at you seething with anger. His sharingan shining brightly, you fall backwards in fear.
He snaps out of it, realizing what he did. “Y/N, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. Please, come home.”
“No, I don’t want to go anywhere with you.”
“Come home. Now.” He barks
“I’ll walk there myself, thank you.”
“I’m afraid I can’t let you do that.”
Kakashi throws you over his shoulder and launches into the air, bouncing rooftop to rooftop carrying you home.
Once through the door he lets you down and begins yelling at you. “Do you have any idea how stupid that was?! Running off in your underwear! What were you thinking?!”
“Kakashi stop…” You cry. Why does he care so much if he doesn’t want to be with me?
He pulls you into his chest, holding you tighter than he’s ever held you. “Don’t scare me like that.”
You continue to sob into his chest. “Then stay.”
“Fine...I’ll stay.” he whispers. “For you, I’ll stay.”

The October-November con chronicles
That last post had me thinking about all the convention moments running around in the little brain of mine, so im posting them all there. MY BLOG MY POSTS!!!
FanX
I met a mumbo jumbo and I remember my big ear wings was in their face in the photo and i felt so bad. At least they had a little pesky bird plush they let me hold!!!
I was exhausted and nervous and saw a quackity cosplayer and so I ran up to them and said "oh my god i love your cosplay it looks so good!!" and they had friends around them and i said "all your lcosplays look so good oh my god its just so good all of you" and i just kept rambling because i was just so tired and didnt know how to human and they looked so awkward and they gave me a little casino coin as a gift and i felt so bad so im sorry if you ever see this quackity cosplayer in the pit :sob:
I met a tango and we stood in the middle of the stands area and he came up and shook my hand and we just kept shaking hands while we talked it was so fun !
THERE WERE SO MANY DREAM SMP COSPLAYERS MY GOD!!! all of them were so good though
I met a skeppy and I was like "oh my god have you found a badboyhalo yet?" THEIR FRIEND WAS BAD SOBBING CRYING THROWING UP I DIDNT EVEN REALIZE THEY WERE THERE!!! we laughed about it and moved on so it was okay :3
i met a double life impulse and Bdubs and i asked them "so ive noticed most people this year that are matching cosplay are partners, are you guys partners or just friends??" because i was trying to get a grasp on the FanX cosplayers economy and norms if that makes sense??? they were going as just friends they both had separate partners i was so embarassed sobbnig crying they understood though it wasnt a big deal
Anime Banzai
As soon as I got there I saw a wilbur soot cosplayer and went up to say hi and THERE WAS A CODFATHER JIMMY THERE!!! They recognized my Etho cosplay as *etho* and not kakashi and we just hung out the entire day it was amazing
When I first got there my spirit halloween kakashi mask was too tight because duh spirit halloween and you could see my entire mouth outline it was HORRIBLE i took back ups just in case but my only picture with codfather jimmy is with my too-tight kakashi mask and it kinda sucks ;w; it's alright though, we had so much fun it doesnt really matter
There was this little girl outside where there was a DJ type thing and she danced and the DJ danced with her and it was so cute. One of the singers from the Idol competition earlier came up and taught her how to do some dances and it was absolutely adorable, I loved it
This little kid also came up to me, codfather, and their friend cosplaying as toadette (? im not sure, i didnt ask what exactly they were all i knew was that it was amazing cosplay) with their little pochita stuffie they got and made gave us a bonk on the head with him and it was incredible and adorable
The idol competition was so cool but the announcer was ABWHEYGUTF it was... strange... between every performance they said "can i get an uwu?" it was horrible SOBBING CRYING it was still so fun though, he was very charming besides for that whole fiasco
during that same cosplay ocmpetition i didnt really know how to cheer???? i dont know, same thing as Fanx where I was exhausted and nervous and i just completely forgot how to person
this older guy came up to me and said "okay whats with the canada??" because for my etho cosplay I had a canada patch on my arm and I had to explain to him "im so sorry im not kakashi its a completely different character" and he walked away so confused and i felt so bad because he was an older lad and i felt like id just blown his mind and it was so awkward
thats it, fanx and anime banzai were so fun and im so glad I went :DD i met so many fun people and everyone was so nice !!
