I've never read the Twilight books (nor will I likely ever), so this is all based on the movies.
Emmet shouldn't have existed and, instead, the last three movies should've had a slow burn, enemies to loves subplot between Jacob and Rosalie. Then! Jacob could still imprint on that baby without it getting weird, because (as stated in the movie) it doesn't have to be romantic. But Jake can still move on from Bella, whilst being close to her, and have a complete arc. Not to mention, he and Rosalie were the only two who actually seemed like they cared about the baby.
Also, Emmet was useless.
#i know literally no one will agree#but i always prefered jake over edward (because Taylor Lautner is hot)#so when i rewatched for the first time in half a decade last year i was upset to find he sucked—#when his biggest flaws (you know: assault. glorified grooming.) couldve easily been changed with little affect on the plot#(i mean did anyone ever really think jake had a chance against eddie??)#so i accept this canon only. and i know deep down that if it had happened people would prefer jake/rosalie over bella/edward#everyones just too scared to consider the power theyd have

actually i dont think ive posted my thoughts on ofmd s2 overall here yet have i?
ok here goes: i think it had incredibly high highs, and at some parts i genuinely enjoyed it more than i did the first season, episode 6 being peak imo. however, it had equally abysmal lows with some glaring writing-, tone- and pacing issues that all came to a head in the finale.
i once read someone say that, if you ever feel like a finale ruined the whole story, maybe you should take another look at the story. there were most likely cracks and problems all along, and the finale did nothing besides dashing the hope that these would perhaps be addressed later. very rarely do genuinely well written stories go completely off the rails in the finale and ruin the whole thing.
i think this is applicable here in some ways, SPECIFICALLY in regards to edward. good god edward was a MESS this season, and it's so sad because i loved the starting point! the kraken era was absolutely terrifying and iconic as FUCK but... they shouldn't have leaned so hard into the drama and trauma of it all. don't get me wrong, i loved that it did. it's one of my favorite parts of the season and i'm so glad we got it. but if they wanted this arc to work with the overarching plot as they wrote it, they would've had to lighten up the tone here CONSIDERABLY. had they played the kraken era for comedy then sure! edward's bad youtuber apology would've been funny. his fast redemption would've been less jarring. the lack of consequences less disturbing. but as it stands in the show, this arc is too dark to function with the later episodes.
i feel like they wanted to have their cake and eat it too here. they wanted the gritty drama of ed coming off the hinges entirely but also didn't want to deal with the aftermath of such a heavy arc in their silly pirate romcom. be that due to time constraints and budget cuts or because they were simply unwilling to, doesn't really matter in the end. the result is the same either way: a very tonally messy season with some accidentally troubling implications regarding abuse.
and mentioning troubling implications regarding abuse; izzy. my poor, poor izzy... his arc was absolutely glorious. i liked izzy the second he showed up in s1 and i was absolutely EATING this season up in that regard. and i think in this case, they genuinely did fuck it all up in the finale with that one stupid choice:
choosing to kill izzy was the DUMBEST thing they couldve done here.
ive talked about this over and over and over again. ive reblogged so many meta posts. and still i am left absolutely flabbergasted by how stupid of a decision this was. the fridging, playing at the fallen woman trope, killing the beating heart of the season and the character who delivers what is essentially a thesis statement, killing off the character whose arc is about coming to terms with his disability, having him die in edward's arms, comforting him and apologizing after an entire season of finding community and love outside of edward, the absolutely godawful pacing of it all, the extremely easy and obvious solution of just having IZZY become the new captain of the revenge to mirror s1 and hammer home how much he has developed since then in one go... i could go on. and i have. it was a stupid writing decision, completely fucked the tone and pacing of the finale and took away attention and time from things that really would've deserved a better wrap up (lucius and black pete deserved better)
now. the whole prince ricky & zheng plot line... yeah that shit sucked ass, sorry. they bit off more than they could chew here. i honestly think those are the arc words of this season:

right off the bat: i think he was good as a concept. bringing in a foil for stede who just doesn't Get It as stede does could've made for very good comedy and drama (and to be fair there is some of that). but that shit got away from them extremely quickly. nothing about how he's implemented past his first episode works, and i think this is very specifically because he's mostly played as the comic relief in his debut episode. making this completely bumbling fool, who gets his nose hacked off on his first job, the main villain of your entire season is... definitely a choice. idk. he didn't work for me at all.
ok wow mentioning shit getting away from the writers. this definitely got away from me. this was supposed to be a short lil post. well. i guess tl;dr i loved this season but jesus christ there was a lot wrong with it. if you want to hear more thoughts. ask box is open. be my guest. i have more to say so even if you dont ask i might add more to this at some point but im tired and have work tmrw.

gladly! i tried to keep this short but i realized that i actually have a lot of intricate headcanons so erm
(my original draft for this got deleted because the app crashed on me so im suffering LMAO sorry i took so long to answer)
zalia
lesbian mtf (mostly because zalia was never referred to with she/her until like, royalloween, and i didnt wanna assume so i just figured she was a dude like everyone else)
the oldest guard next to hans
zalia struggles with regulating her volume and tone of voice, so she had a hard time making friends because everyone thought that she was rude
zalia actually knew alexander since they were very little, since she's close to hans
has a weird relationship with the captain of the royal guards. her opinions of her was only ever professional but another part of her feels insanely attracted to her

alexander’s older brother. their parents are very important people, so theyre rarely ever at home much. hans was 27 when alex was born, he basically raised them even though he was working full time as a guard and he ended up bringing them to a lot of his shifts until they were old enough to be left unsupervised (he couldve used a babysitter or left them at a family friends house, but he doesnt want to risk it affecting alexs growth and wants only the best for them)
also specifically alex is hans' half sibling, with a different dad. it would make sense if they were an accident now that i think about it. LOL
launcelot is taller than him
very protective of alex. does not like their relationship with poppy

husband of the headmistress, barbie. boyfriend of hans. probably has a daughter
launcelot and barbie both went to royale high in the same class together, but they didnt really become friends for a while, even though they talked from time to time. thats because barbie is from quite a prominent family of powerful fairies, and also the student council leader. she was the love interest of most at school with how beautiful and intelligent she was. launcelot meanwhile was just some (human) dude with average-at-most grades and enjoyed playing dnd sometimes with his friends. he was still content with himself though, and was generally well-liked because of how extraverted he is, but him and barbie were just far too different for their worlds to ever collide. from the few group projects they did together though, they really enjoyed talking to each other. when sophomermaid year dawned, launcelot decided to try signing up for the student council, because he wanted to broaden his horizons more and also help out at the school, which is how he and barbie became friends. launcelot gave barbie a world away from the stress of expectations and allowed her to be herself. she often snuck out with launcelot after school to hang out at the fair in town. things started really taking off when they were in their junicorn years, which is when they started dating.
launcelot and hans have decades worth of a weird hate-love relationship that only recently turned romantic. by the time launcelot graduated from his squire title and became a real knight, hans was raising a 5 year old alex, so while launcelot still found him incredibly annoying and aggravating to work with he still didnt completely hate him. their relationship became a weird pudgy mix as years went by because they've known each other so long and since they sometimes hang out and have normal conversations at the bar and launcelot even babysits alex sometimes when hans is really busy or tired.

From Captain Midnight: TFS and the Captain Midnight Broadcast Intrusion
So, as we know, Captain Midnight is a big part of TFS- Henry’s a HUGE Captain Midnight nerd, and Virginia even calls him “Captain Midnight.”
But what some of you may not know is that Captain Midnight hijacked a HBO broadcast. The other Captain Midnight, though- not Henry, no, the OTHER one- no, not the comic book character or the TV/radio show character- the real-life Captain Midnight: John R. MacDougall.
So, in 1986, John R. MacDougall was fed up with high cable prices- and as a result, jammed the HBO satellite signal on Galaxy 1, and displayed the following message:
But how did our mysterious price-protesting Captain Midnight accomplish this feat?
Well, he worked at a satellite ground station, which meant that he had access to a high power transmitter- and by using the right frequency, he was able to send an uplink to the satellite.
Captain Midnight’s signal was stronger than HBO’s signal- hence why he was able to overtake the broadcast.
Which has me staring DIRECTLY at the Duffers (iirc, or it was some other ST thing) talking about Henry and El’s powers & the strength of the powers against eachother/stronger powers overriding weaker ones. It also has me staring DIRECTLY at the way that Henry and El’s powers mess with TVs, just like the Captain Midnight broadcast intrusion.
Hell, speaking of El and Henry’s NINA fight against eachother, Captain Midnight and HBO literally got into a duel, both of them upping their signal strength against the other back and forth, much like Henry and El.
Also, believe it or not, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (which is in the ST video store) plays a role here, as John/our Captain Midnight played Pee Wee’s Big Adventure on the network before his intrusion. So, I need to go back and rewatch those ST scenes with the Pee Wee stuff in them when I have time, but I’m SURE those connect to all of this somehow.
But where this gets EXTRA WEIRD is that John wasn’t named after the Captain Midnight that we all know from TFS- no, instead, he named himself after the OTHER Captain Midnight, from the 1979 movie On the Air Live with Captain Midnight, a movie about a teen who overtakes radio signals- much like Henry in TFS accidentally interfering with Bob’s radio signals whenever Henry attacks.
And so, it’s VERY interesting to me that we have all of the “Henry vs Edward vs Richard vs Martin vs 001 vs Vecna,” name weirdness and all of the repeated/shared names in ST and mistaken identity stuff, versus the different Captain Midnights & John also using it as a pseudonym.
What if TFS “Henry,” is the wrong Captain Midnight- what if, instead of being the 7 year old Henry that we saw who was obsessed with Captain Midnight/who Is Captain Midnight in Virginia’s words, he’s actually Edward- the other Captain Midnight from the movie, the one that’s able to scramble and overtake radios signals.
And while TFS “Henry,” definitely has a ton of Captain Midnight knowledge, that could be explained by lab brainwashing stuff/both Henry and Edward couldve been actual Captain Midnight fans & the two diff Captain Midnight thing is just subtext to subtly poke at the identity weirdness/two different guys.
Anyway! Much to think about.

sooo instead of fantastic beasts 2 and 3 (which sucked) i wish we just got a 10-ep series abt newt going across pre-ww2 europe & cataloguing magical creatures 🤷♂️
maybe he noticed the creatures he had were oddly distrssed and went off to find the cause? maybe they sensed dark forces, aka. grindelwald's rise to power, the way birds can sense a storm
perhaps the creatures further east were more distrssed than those on the west? he couldve noticed that on his usual travels, or read some vague reports in the daily prophet
but ofc, the wizarding world doesnt rly care much abt magical creatures yet at this point. so the reports are pretty nonchalant and borderline joking
yet, they contain details that are pretty alarming to newt. maybe creatures harming themselves? or others? attacking muggle towns? herbivores suddenly hunting other animals? weird hybrids popping up that shouldn't even exist?
maybe its grindelwald experimenting with the idea of using creatures to gain power but psssst we dont know the reason yet ok
so newt sets off eastwards to figure our tf is going on. starting from britain and ending in ep 10 in romania (as we've learned in hp, romania has DRAGONS 🔥🔥🔥)
every ep has a different magical creature as the focus. some we know from hp (hippogriffs?), some are new. dark creatures (stuff from defense the dark arts classes in hp) also show up so there's action lol
and maybe grindelwald's minions are also on newt's tail? trying to stop him from sniffing around?
ofc jacob tags along because due to wizards not giving a fyck abt magical creatures yet, newt's only guides are local muggle rumors and fairy tales. and newt's a very awkward wizard, while jacob is an incredibly likable and normal man to whom villages readily open up
tina tags along too, because she's an american auror and is trying to figure out whatever dark forces could be gathering (but might be doing that in secret from local authorities cause politics).
theseus is there for the same reason except from the british ministry
we could have a slow burn romance with tina where newt's rly awkward and tina's rly reserved but they clearly care abt each other & over time & experiences, they bond
like newt has no idea how to be in a relationship or show feelings and might even doubt if there's space in his life for another person, considering how long he's been alone and how obsessed he is with his work. he's also kinda always been alone so it's all a strange new situation for him
tina, on the other hand, is incredibly guarded and careful to the point of seeming cold. over time she learns that yes, some people can be trusted.
oh and both learn to actually communicate lol
theseus has actually persuaded the ministry to send him (with some difficulty) because he was worried abt newt and wanted to be around to help. but he doesn't admit this, at first claiming the ministry made him come and that it's even a hassle for him.
he cares abt newt but theseus is a very regular dude who thinks newt's very weird. he loves his brother but struggles to relate to him at all. maybe even infantalizes him a bit? is overbearing?
over time he kinda Gets what newt wants to do and gets a newfound respect for him and learns to accept his weirdness and learns boundaries. and, again, communication lessons for both
i dunno how to shoehorn queenie into this but yeah she could be here too... if i think of a good pretext lol maybe she's just following jacob along
and queenie & jacob are very lovey-dovey but maybe they struggle with the realization that being together might mean being ostractized by their communities
maybe they get rly dramatic and queenie does an Edward Cullen like going "I never loved you" and breaks his heart because she believes he's better off without her
but ofc it horribly backfires and she admits what she did and the whole thing is a mess and they do get back together. but like everyone else, they learn to Communicate
and our merry band of misfits visits both other wizarding schools mentioned in hp (i dont remember their names sorry 😔🤡)
the french school has fairies and half-fairies in it and they have a connection to nature. so they give newt's concerns more attention than anyone else so far. newt's pretty stoked abt that, but there isn't much they can do. maybe the headmaster is too sceptical, despite other staff willing to help newt. maybe grindelwald's dark influence has spread, and the headmaster mistrusts foreigners, muggles, and wizards friendly with muggles as a result
the german school is far less welcoming. maybe they think he's a weirdo too. here grindelwald's influence is even stronger. but perhaps a student or young teacher comes out to help regardless of directive. maybe out of respect for newt's pure guts, wandering dangerous forests and risking everything for his beliefs. after all, their school values being stoic, and this student considers newt to fit this ideal. maybe they help the group find a giant (but i dont think giants are technically magical creatures...?) or an ice monster or something
i've always been fascinated by those other magical school, but we never got a glimpse. so i'd love it if they were very creative and had detailed interiors and exteriors. maybe the french one is an enormous living tree? maybe the german one is entirely underground?
along the way we might also meet other characters, both muggles and wizards, who help or hinder our heroes' journey. maybe we also meets other authors of future hogwarts books, or parents of known characters in hp. neville's parents are an idea, but i dunno if it's possible timeline-wise 🥴
along the way jacob helps a lot using the skills he has (strong social skills, loyalty, a good heart, maybe also knowledge of muggle affairs) and as such is a counterpoint to grindelwald's philosophy of wizard superiority
oh and in ep 1 newt has a near-death experience with a magical creature. rather than blaming the creature, he's understanding and just says the creature was distressed. (other people think he's insane, though.) this does scare him, though - what would happen to his beloved creatures if he was done? what about his body of work? his painstakingly acquired knowledge of magical creatures?
so he starts compiling his notes and writing a book, with doubles as an instruction manual on how to care for magical creatures. but he has no one to pass on his notes to, and it bothers him
maybe he tried to give the notes to dumbledore, but dumbledore smiles and says to give him the book when it's fully done
(dumbledore's lobbying in hogwarts to introduce care of magical creatures as a subject, but wont tell newt yet since its still uncertain)
oh and the eps can start with newt narrating the corresponding parts of his book. the ep's very first shot is always that shaggy, agressive meanace of a book we see in hp. then we see newt's hand carefully patting it, opening it, then reading
over time, he learns to trust his companions, and they begin to understand his work. maybe in like ep 9 he opens up abt his fear of dying and not being able to take care of his menagerie. so they all promise to care abt the creatures using newt's book, should anything happen to him
obv it does, he dies in ep 10 😭 maybe by sacrificing himself while trying to stop grindelwald from enchanting a dragon to do his evil bidding or something
his companions are sad ofc and they do keep caring abt his creatures. we see a montage of all of them doing so, jacob clumsily trying to feed some huge creature, theseus getting bitten, tina sadly stroking the back of some bird-like or horse-like thing
we can have a post-credits scene where, many years later, hagrid's teaching care of magical creatures. maybe fondly talking abt newt and wishing he could've met the man who Understood so deeply why all creatures matter
so yeah thats the kind of fantastic beasts content i crave and think about

the thing that really gets me about the way izzy acts in episode 10 is that he could have used the situation to his advantage. he could have been the same shitty person he always has been while still under the guise that he's doing whats best for ed. before this, he has idolized blackbeard but acknowledged that ed is not completely that idol, he just wants him to act like he is. (to protect him of course!) when ed is upset about killing stede, izzy acknowledges these feelings and doesnt even belittle them but tries to convince him that theyre better off ignoring
if izzys goal was to get ed away from stede so he could go back to "normal" he has won! it wouldve been so easy for izzy to see ed miserable and heartbroken and say "see? i told you so. he was a phase. i am still here. i know what is best for you. listen to me and you will be safe." ed wouldve been VERY susceptible to that
but izzy just completely abandons all pretense of caring about ed. he sees ed being his true self and being honest and realizes that he couldnt care less about this person. he cant stand to look at him being even slightly effeminate without becoming violent and abusive. "edward" is not a special secret name only he can use anymore, it's a fucking stupid name for a useless man because ed actually wants to be referred to that way. "blackbeard" is no longer an idealized image for an intelligent but deeply erratic man to hide behind to stay safe, it's a violent irrational creature that is the only thing that is worthwhile about the man who embodies it. izzy completely abandons his misguided but at least sensible views of ed and what is best for him, because he realizes that he is NOT what is best for ed and that he doesnt actually give a shit
now ed is being violent like izzy wants but now what? hes a miserable shell of himself. stede is going to come back and ed is going to collapse in on himself because he cant do this anymore. imagine if izzy had leaned into ed's emotional intelligence that he was strengthening while coping with stede's betrayal. ed couldve fully accepted what lucius told him and LET GO OF STEDE. stede could come back and ed would be like "man i dont need you. you hurt my feelings but thats ok bc i am enough without you." sure they wouldve probably made up eventually, but izzy wouldve gotten a much more stable version of what he wants from ed. but this version of ed is sensitive and tired and feels worthless and will probably be MORE receptive to stedes apologies because he just wants to lay down and feel loved for a minute, heartbreak be damned. and izzy is going to realize that pushing ed to the brink has once again completely backfired on him because he was too angry and impulsive to actually sit down and think about the consequences of his treatment of ed for two fucking seconds

in GX chazz princeton had this chant in the OG dub that was a fun play of words with his name "majoume jun" where jaden always refferred to him pretty informally so hed be like "san-da!" which sounds like the japanese word for thunder and when he went to another academy he did it with one of the students there but they thought he was saying majoume thunder so it became his fun little chant and the guys at 4kids decided to make it chazz it up in the dub which is endlessly funny to me. i know theres no good way to literally translate majoume thunder but certaintly there some other play on words they couldve done but i love chazz it up so
bakura ryou lovessss the occult and the deck yami bakura used in battle city is actually one ryou made! the deck freaks out joey
in the og manga duke devlins whole intro arc involved his clown dad who dresses as a clown 24/7 and his dad tries to burn down the building theyre all in its wild. in the anime they just play digeon dice monsters and are normal

“Supri..se?” You both whipped your heads to see Eddie, Steve, Dustin, and Mike with their eyes popped out, their mouths dragging on the floor, Lucas passed out, Johnathan and nancy looking at a bug on the ceiling like it just painted the mona lisa, will trying to set up a dnd campaign, using forks and spoons as characters, Robin biting her fist and beet red, and max and el blinking at you both “aww thanks guys bye!! Shoo!” You quickly pushed them out of your house
“well.. atleast we have cake now?” Chrissy giggled “atleast i get to put on on your body and lick it off you” you purred in her ear.

As a date..?” You silently banged your head on the wall, thinking of 20 different ways that couldve been way smoother.
after a long hard 30 seconds she responded “y-yeah! Sure.. um ill pick you up at around 8:00?” “Sure” you agreed with a smile and hung up, squealing.

"Ed was doing so well. He was healing. Stupid Izzy ruined everything. I hate him!"
After much consideration, i have to say i now agree with this. Stupid fucking izzy couldn't keep his mouth shut. I couldve had Ed, coming to terms with the breakup, healed. Realizing his crush on stede had burned bright and hot but burned out. He would tell Izzy that its fine now, he'll survive but he surely is bored and Blackbeard is just not him anymore. Izzy in doing some self reflection would realise that he didnt actually despise Edward nor his softness, he despised who he was soft for. He'd do anything to remain by Edward's side including changing how he thought, leaning into Edward's whimsical nature; stargazing, cloud watching whatever he wanted. Realizing that Ed changing, meant that he also had to. To see him smile, and laugh. Izzy would just have to kill whomever found that to be a problem. He'd just watch from the shadows as loyal as ever. They'd go back to their own ship to plan how things would go now, a fuckery that would leave Blackbeard dead and his ship and crew sunk. Izzy makes Ed laugh more now, he's less uptight, his personality comes out. Edward's laughing now, his shoulders shaking, something sarcastic that Izzy said. And Izzy uses it as an excuse to stare at him for a long moment. And when izzy quietly moves rogue strands of Edwards hair and tucks thn begind his ear, seemingly in a trance Ed stops laughing abruptly because for as long as they'd known each other Izzy doesnt voluntarily offer touch. There's something so intimate about it. They share a long look in which Edward comes to many realizations. Izzy has always been there, always loyal to him, fiercely unafraid to tell him to fuck off when hes being a dick but remains regardless because thats where his place is. At his side. And maybe something that izzy himself hadnt realised, how hopelessly in love with Edward he is. Edward tells Izzy to promise he wouldnt ever leave him, catching his hand as he's about to pull away and Izzy asks him how he ever thought he could.
Stede finds the revenge and the crew well, but Ed's nowhere to be found. He doesnt know where to even begin to look but he'll try. He wants to apologize. The crew tells him that Edward's alright. He doesn't know how to feel about this but he doesnt question his feelings. And he knows that no matter how brief he held Edward's heart. He's free though. And feeling more alive than he has in years. Knowing himself and at peace. The revenge sails off to find adventure. So yeah.... Izzy you stupid twat!

Another odd detail in that post is that it's based on the idea that Ed is insecure because Izzy is more educated than him but is that even true? I might have missed something but nothing I remember in the show made Izzy stand out as someone with a formal education so it feels strange to just assume that he's more educated than Ed to a point that it would become a cause for insecurity.
like? its implied that izzy can most likely read since he does a voice over which the show uses for journal entries, but we dont actually have canon confirmation that ed doesnt know how to read or to what degree if so. i mean illiteracy is a spectrum after all. but theres nothing to suggest izzy is highly educated, very much the opposite really since hes p obviously working class. like i would not put him in the same category as lucius and stede who clearly had more access to education. and just bc izzy can read doesnt mean hes highly educated either? i mean, there were some education opportunities for poor kids through charity/dame schools in the 1600/1700s but often only going up to a certain grade until kids need to like... come work lol. like for all we know izzy couldve been the youngest sibling and got to go to some limited schooling when younger before dropping out at 12. for all we know edward couldve gotten to do some schooling when young when his mom took him to work and the family she cleaned for happened to be nice and let him hang out. we just dont know??
but omfg...... theres NOTHING to suggest that ed feels insecure about izzy where it just feels like we keep looping back to "actually this feels more racist if you read it this way?????"

My biggest pet peeve about the internet: no one is allowed to have their own opinion. You must conform to modern society or die.
Examples of my hot takes people disagree with on the internet.
I think good relationships and good friendships start with self-awareness and communication. If you cannot accept your own wrong-doings or realize that a friendship/relationship is not one-sided then it will probably end poorly because it takes to people to interact and not communicating your needs/wants/hopes effectively makes it less likely the relationship will work in a positive way.
Taylor swift's music became less interesting to me after the Fearless album.
I never liked Ariana Grande's music.
I think books should be enjoyed and cherished no matter the genre. And they dont need frivelous things like "chapter titles, synopsises, numbers on spines, indexes, maps, or table of contents. Sometimes a good book is good without these things. It takes a writer. Anyone can become an author. It takes a writer to really make the pages come to life.
I think the Olympic Class Ocean Liners of the White Star Line is cursed. Because The Britannic sunk, the Titanic sunk, and the Olympic had several collisions and was retired and scraped for metal at the end.
I think anyone can be an educator in a school but it takes effort to be a teacher. To be a teacher is to inspire students to learn and to care for students intentionally by communicating subjects in multiple ways and helping them to understand. To be an educator is to expect students to grasp what you cannot communicate with minimal help to no help.
I also think Degrassi Next Class messed up by recasting Alex Steele as Tori and not keeping her as Craig Manning's younger sister Angie. Because the whole Degrassi TV franchise brings back original characters and their kids or siblings. Joey, Snake, and Spike were all on Degrassi Junior High. Then Degrassi the Next Generation was about Spike's daughter Emma, and her friends and Joeys kids/adoptive kids Angie and Craig. Then Degrassi developed into the younger siblings of the Next Generation like Ali Bendari, and Claire Edwards. Then Degrassi Next Class has some of those people still but they didnt introduce anyone with ties to older characters or anything. Alex Steele's character couldve been perfect for that.
I could go on but I'll stop myself with those examples. Because those are just some of the arguments I've gotten on the subject of lately.

this has been said before but i forgot who (sorry) but i wish we got to see jacob and bella talk about their moms and how even though bella has her mom it doesn't feel like she's emotionally/physically there for her idk they could've really bonded over this and we couldve gotten more insight about jacobs personality cause not having a parent really changes people!! also whats the point of having her dead if they hardly bring it up or make it useful to the plot?
you are SO right. i wish jacob and bella talked about their moms at least once. like imagine how great that would’ve been for their relationship? for adding depth to both of their characters??? i feel like smeyer didnt bring up jacobs mom (besides the horrid imagery of “she was so mangled that they had to nail her coffin shut” which is ????!!!! but i digress......) bc she didnt plan on developing him much beyond the phasing thing. but now that you mention it, keeping her alive could’ve possibly made the team jacob angle even better (if we’re going at this from the love triangle / “bella was ALWAYS meant to end up w edward” perspective), and we all know she wasn’t gonna give us that on purpose. but now you got me thinkin........
if sarah was still alive, then rachel and rebecca would’ve stuck around just a little bit longer. i still like to think rachel wouldve gone to an in-state college, just maybe not one as far away as wsu, and rebecca also would’ve found a hot surfer boyfriend.......just not so fast. so the twins wouldve been more present in jacob and bella’s lives, and all 4 of the kiddos would’ve benefited from more mutual support among each other, as well as support from another trusted adult, despite already having a plethora of trusted adults in billy, sue, harry, charlie, etc. (im a big fan of communities/groups of friends all looking out for each other, and im also a firm believer that charlie, billy, sarah, sue, and harry were the OG CliqueTM but whatever.)
so if sarah was alive and if the twins stuck around for a lil while longer, jacob wouldn’t feel so abandoned and bella would’ve had friends, assuming she and the twins were actually close before she stopped visiting forks/la push as a kid. billy wouldn’t be seen as the “superstitious old guy” bc sarah most definitely would’ve backed him up in his suspicions about the cullens. if i remember correctly, there was a small and sad bit in breaking dawn where billy was trying to talk jacob into leaving bella alone bc he’d just gotten rachel back and didnt wanna lose jacob. of course, his dumbass son still would’ve done that, but sarah would’ve also helped talk some sense into their dumbass son, but she ALSO would’ve been there for billy so he wouldn’t feel so abandoned.
i also imagine sarah would continue to be good friends with charlie and harry, and absolute besties with sue. maybe she’d talk sue out of dating a cop too lmfao. it’s too bad smeyer sees the wolf pack characters and is like “two present parents??? i think the fuck not!”
