Thinking about how Diavolo’s feelings transcend time and how in the Nightbringer UR+ card Demon Lord’s Castle Tour this conversation happens.

When asked, “Do you wish to see your father?”

Diavolo responds:

“I suppose I do . . .” isn’t the typical reaction to how a child would feel about wanting to see their parent. Especially when said parent has essentially been in a coma for a year.

Along with how Diavolo describe his father.

It makes more sense why when you learn in Lesson 56 how Diavolo was treated by him growing up.

Diavolo can tell when others are lying but is unable to understand his father’s intentions.

Diavolo mentions that he lived a very sheltered life growing up. That from a young age his father never allowed him a chance to talk to anyone outside the castle.

His childhood friend was Mephistopheles. A demon literally RAISED to be his friend. Putting a barrier between the two because Mephistopheles would put Diavolo on a pedestal.

The isolating childhood he experienced riddled with his strict father constantly scolding him.

Despite everything MC is so important to him he wants to see his father again so we can meet.

#Demons and Humans can’t get married even in the present so it adds an extra layer him wanting to introduce us.#There’s a lot more you could add onto this (please do I’d love to hear other’s thoughts).#Like how Diavolo’s childhood affected him just look at the way he describes himself:#“The truth is I am a child in a way. A child who spends his time alone and never gets to do anything interesting.”#A lot of Diavolo’s poor behavior while not excused comes from his childhood.#How Diavolo admits to using his position to force others to do what he wants. after fitz cools off a little bit about sophie and keefe being a thing, he should drop tidbits about keefe (mostly during trust exercises) that he thinks she might find helpful since they're dating.

the thing is, instead of just stuff like, 'keefe loves frogs, so he might appreciate a gift or trip related to them, idk' he also drops things like 'btw if you just hold his hand in your hands - specifically towards the back of his head, just behind his ears - while you're talking to him, he'll probably melt haha. also his scalp is sensitive, do with that what you will, but make sure you're gentle'.

bonus points if sophie asks keefe about why every single tidbit fitz gives is correct and he goes tomato red for the first time ever and sputters out something like 'i gave fitz the lord of the snuggles title based on personal experience - he's clingy when he's tired, ok?'

Not sure why leftists want predestination to be real so badly. You want bad people to have always been bad, you want anyone you find mildly annoying to turn out to be a predator or abuser of some kind you hope so badly for people to be unchanging and set in stone and incapable of growth or healing.

EDIT: I see this has gotten a lot of notes and a couple of people seemed to flinch at my specifically calling out “leftists” so I’m going to double down.

There is a flip side to this, the mentality that if someone wound up with bigoted beliefs in the present day then they must have always been bad. The reverse side of course is that if you, an enlightened progressive, have never been bigoted then surely you will never become bigoted, and friend, this is putting you in danger of becoming extremely bigoted.

#it's cause that means you don't have to work at being good #if you think you're a ''good person'' you don't ever want to believe you could somehow become bad #so you'd rather just believe every bad person can never move on #rather than risk having to do anything about yourself #or even admit there's enough wrong iwth you to be done about it in the first place

Not sure if this has been brought up before but, Billdip with a pet?

Neither of them really seem like Pet guys to me, more like Stuff In Jars kinda guys. But maybe petsitting for Mabel or someone else? I think the minute Dipper showed any affection for something other than Bill he would get really jealous and Dipper would think it's very funny and very annoying. I specifically like the idea of Bill vs a cat bc I think they would HATE him on instinct and they'd definitely hiss at eachother. Bill's very much of the opinion that pets are useless brainless hunks of flesh that eat your food, but he's also got very little competition in terms of Affection coming from Dipper and if HE doesn't get pets and treats, neither does this stupid creature that skulks around the house eating spiders and ripping up the carpet. That's BILL'S job

They really are both kinda Stuff In Jars guys, aren't they?

That being said, Dipper's absolutely the type to get suckered in by something cute if it showed him attention and affection. Likely he found it on the street, or rescued it from a monster; then of course claim he'd only keep it for like a day before bringing it to a shelter. Maybe two.

And he would, too! He is Responsible™ and wouldn't want to introduce a poor innocent animal to the vicinity of Bill.

UNLESS said creature was very Clever and Conniving and wormed its way into his heart, using all kinds of dastardly tricks and loving affection. Then two days turns into three, and to a week, until Bill knows with Dread Certainty that this slimy little hairball is here to stay.

It's probably a cat, let's be honest.

If for no other reason that Bill doesn't seem at all like a Dog Person. If he had to take that thing for WALKS and PICK UP after it, it'd be about two hours before he 'accidentally' left the door open during hours of heavy traffic - whereas a cat is standoffish and independent enough that they can safely spend their days ignoring each other in the same room.

But you just KNOW that he seethes with jealousy anytime Dipper gives that miserable feline a gentle kiss on the forehead.

in the context of your post about realism in writing insert characters wanted to thank you for not doing weird self-aggrandizing bullshit through a description of your characters as objectively petite\with a tiny waist\any other heteronormative attractive thing for women that is mentioned in this type of fiction solely to drive in the point about them being hot. it's pretty shitty to be reading this type of fiction just to be hit with an image of a woman it turns out the author thinks you need to be to get into this sort of scenario. randomly. in the middle of the text you've been enjoying. so i'm really grateful i never had this experience with your writings. they are detailed enough where you can picture size\strength difference and different bodily dynamics, but not overly specific where you are isolated for not being attractive? typical? enough in the author's eyes.

(it's good to write different inserts too and i am not policing that; i'm talking about like... thoughtless descriptions of a typical straight white dream girl that pop up in the text with no warning or context for a self insert character, not an oc.)

i can get reader-inserts written specifically to appreciate body-types that aren't appreciated in a lot of traditional media, but as i grew up in the trenches of quotev at a time where 'would [character] think you're attractive?' quizzes were pretty popular and it was sort of a given that the reader-insert was going to be short + petite, i simply,,, cannot stand for my readers to be any more specific than faceless blobs with no specific characteristics. it also makes it a little frustrating when people go out of their way to,,, like,,, self-police in my comments/tags and leave stuff along the lines of 'oh i found this unrealistic bc i'm [body type]' or 'oh this would never be possible for me', especially when i'm writing for a series where super strength is kind of a given. like girl we saw him bare-arm throw a car in the last episode. i do not think you are going to be his breaking point.

#i am coming at this from something of a tall person myself #and while i will admit i do love an height gap #there is also a bit of giggling that comes with those 'they kneeled to your height' lines #the reader could be a biblically accurate angel and you would never hear it from me babes #personal #anon ask
