also thank you!!!! i’m out here for an engineering internship i actually gave my final presentation to senior leadership yesterday! plant manager + every department head were there to hear the interns present abt their projects and oh my fucking god i thought questions and comments were just a formality THEY WERE NOT. my thing was a software data organizational structure to optimize pulling up relevant equipment data (eg boiler pressure) bc previously you needed a very specific code to find Anything now you can look up vague phrases and find what you want. this system is my baby. i have categorized over 1600 pieces of data and associated them to the correct equipment and system.

ANYWAYS at one point a guy was like okay so a) how is this not already implemented everywhere and b) how do we turn this into a [company] global engineering standard. i am in Shock. also i think they hired me part time over the school year to do the same kind of work i’m doing right now! did not think i would end up basically a software consultant. also i am 20 why the fuck am i getting responsibility.

my summer has been good!! my uni has two rounds of summer classes, so for my first round I finished the classes and got an A in one and a B in the other so we win these :) now i'm on my second round and I had to read a super dense research paper today about synthesizing malaria drugs and one of the questions was like "use what you learned in biochemistry and molecular biology to explain the nomenclature of these mutation names" and I took both of those classes a full year ago so I just fucking blue screened

the non school parts of my summer have been alright! mostly I just hung out with my best friend whenever I was down in SD for classes, and she also drove up to LA a few times. we were trying to spend as much time as possible together because she got a job with the NIH in DC so she's moving there for 2 years. she left about a week ago and i miss her sm already, but I'm really glad we got to spend a lot of time together before she moved. she's shown me so many great bars in SD (including the one I recommended to you!), definitely gonna use that knowledge for the future

Idk why, but i needed a break from like...watching tv i hadn’t seen before. Anyone else have that habit of watching things you’ve already seen when you’re going through an anxious period? hilarious that you’re a fan of someone so basic as charlie puth when you’re a music reviewer and tend to be real pompous about music and talent lmao

yoooo i usually don’t reply to messages of this caliber at all anymore about mostly anything lmao regardless not sure where you’re getting me being pompous about my music taste at whenever i’ve never been shy about part of my heart belonging to garbage pop music

but, i’m choosing to respond to this predominantly because this isn’t the first time i’ve seen people lump charlie puth into the ‘basic popstar’ category when i don’t think they’re actually aware of his talent and musical intellect? and it’ll bug me if i don’t expand on it lol

I’m no charlie puth blog by any means, and tbh i wasn’t even aware he existed up until 7 months ago beyond that horrid song “we don’t talk anymore” that was played everywhere, but he’s a virtuoso, and i don’t believe that is publicly discussed enough? 

The dude has perfect pitch. Only 1 out of 10,000 are even born with it. Relative pitch is as close as one can get to it, but Absolute pitch is only obtained by genetics. Those who have perfect pitch can translate any sound into a musical note. They don’t need a reference tone or anything to process a sound and what it would crossover as in music. It’s fucking nuts. If you’ve never been around someone who has perfect pitch then you don’t understand how completely wild it is. It’s just this really rare auditory phenomenon that allows someone to recreate sounds like how an artist would paint a portrait. There have been several instances that showcase Charlie’s experience having it:

(Just casually composing songs in a notebook through musical notes like he’s writing the ABCs. Eleven (11) years old, and he is able to transfer the sounds in his head to paper with no training or guidance. Ridiculous)

Furthermore, he’s a classically trained musician. Like, he’s trained in jazz. He started studying it at age 10. From 13-18 he was accepted into and attended Manhattan’s music conservatory pre-college where he was able to focus his craft in jazz piano and minor in classical studies and composition. When he went on to college, he still eyed jazz’s foundation. I know I poke fun at his live shows for being Panera Bread Live on Tour because he has several jazz elements he implements into the performances, but that’s literally what he’s been trained in his whole life lol 

Not to mention he graduated from Berklee which is a feat all in itself. He got a degree in music engineering and production that requires heavy knowledge in the art to even obtain. But, he’s been doing similar shit since he was basically 10 when he was gifted his first studio set-up so lol

Career-wise, he’s co-written, composed, and produced several songs for big entertainers like Thomas Rhett, Trey Songz, Zara Larsson, Maroon 5, Jason Derulo, and Liam Payne which is incredibly impressive for his age and experience in the industry 

Regarding the production and creation process, the way he speaks about it is like hearing someone speak latin. It’s completely mad. You can tell how versed he is about the process with how casually he talks about it even though it sounds like absolute rocket science. He often describes it as “geeking-out” but it’s truly just preposterous. In connection, watching him put the process together is as if you’re watching sorcery. it is utterly fascinating. I’ve included some clips of him demonstrating/discussing the process because it is definitely a trip:

(This video is now unlisted, so it isn’t searchable on youtube anymore but i remember the first time i watched this and how remarkable it was to me. I dunno just how quickly and easily Charlie makes a halfway decent bop with just his keyboard and Sudeikis’ vocals is ridiculous. 

So, I dunno I believe the reason I’m more vocal about my enjoyment of his music (BOY should win a grammy) is because of how endlessly intrigued i am by his talent and musical prowess. I think a big reason why people are so quick to dismiss his talent and presence is that they cast judgment on his past work and similarity in foundation his songs have (which is understandable because his debut LP is complete garbage in comparison to Voicenotes but it’s worth noting that he was not a pilot for most any production or sound that went into his debut which is obvious by the juxtaposition of sound on his sophomore effort which was produced almost solely by himself from his home studio) instead of analyzing why it’s such a clever move for him to choose to cater his music to the mainstream audience. 

Like forementioned, he’s classically trained. He is completely capable of composing music and creating intricate elements in songs that would be appreciated and heard by musical experts and professionals. But, he is purposely choosing to water-down his craft and creating music that relates to the masses because he knows it’ll get him the most exposure and commercial gain as an artist which is literally just him playing the game welcome to the entertainment industry lol. So, it is extremely crafty for him to choose the direction that mainstream music is heading to reach that recognition and type of sucess he’s aiming for instead of only producing work for a niche group ya know? 

Charlie Puth is a musical prodigy, and i don’t shy away from using that label. The way his mind works with and processes music is complete insanity. I’ve never seen anyone do what he does. So, yes, I understand where the stereotyping comes from with lumping him into the ‘basic popstar’ category of musician, but that received idea is absurd to me knowing not only the talent and skillset he posesses but the work ethic he has. He is a distinct artist in the industry right now, and i wish that was more publicized instead of the conventional image they brand him with. 

Regardless, garbage pop music in general  has its place and i’ll never be ashamed for liking it for what it is  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i’m the (??) lmao that’s me always but ahdhghdfkshg thank you so much!!!!! i’m so glad you love them, it means the world to me ;-; and listen, that was me, i had no idea how i was going to do it because i’d only seen ts3 stories up to that point and i thought there was like a set Way to tell stories but i had no idea what i was doing so i was like y’know what...i’m just gonna do it how i feel comfortable doing it and i’m gonna figure it out as i go along. so honestly try to roughly plan out what your stor(ies) will entail and if you get stuck on planning and can’t figure it out, just jump right into it, try to make a few scenes or get the ball rolling somehow, even if it’s just random posts (i mean that’s all my blog was until i decided to commit to santi’s story.) it’s always gonna feel weird and awkward at first, but you’ll get comfortable the more you do it and it’ll figure itself out, trust me!

I read through most of your story posts the other day and now I’m rereading it again just to torture myself some more (and maybe catch up on some posts I may have missed). I honestly don’t think I’ve come across a sims story that’s so beautifully written & includes such evocative pictures as yours. YEAH I DID! omg. i have a LOT of issues with this season (mostly in how badly they tried to retcon nancy and everyone else not caring about barb’s death, how bad the writing was in the realm of nancy and steve breaking up and then her and jonathan getting together...holy fuck it was so uncomfortable with that 40 yr old conspiracy theorist guy i couldn’t even enjoy my ship getting together lmao) also ur right, max and billy honestly did not offer anything to the story...like i loved max too but what was the point...billy acted like their presence and the reason they had to move was so dramatic when it was really nothing...unless they’re saving that for season 3 but like. the whole situation with billy was so anticlimactic. he was like a walmart version of henry from IT. like boohoo ur dad’s an asshole and then he beat up steve. good character arc. i liked max standing up for herself but really...that whole thing was so lackluster, i didn’t care about it at all. As a single mother myself I'd really enjoy seeing you take on the issue. Personally, my biggest problem was overcoming the generalizations people put on you when you're a single mom. People always assumed that I that I was stupid and uneducated because I had my son when I was 17.

yes! that will definitely come up. i will focus a lot on her struggles as a single mom. so far i’ve mostly just peppered in some stuff about money troubles, and that will come up again, and the issues you mention will be pretty central to her character as well. i’m sorry you have to endure that, it’s not fair. people don’t even realize how strong and dedicated single mothers are.

you gotta turn bb.moveobjects on and then press alt + 9 when an object is selected to move it upward. so what i did with those poses i made was, i selected a teleporter and pressed alt + 9 until it was at a spot i liked on the roof. that’s why releasing those poses would be tricky, ‘cause every build is different so there’s no set way to place them, you just kinda have to play around with them

do you have any tips for taking good screenshots in game? like how to get the good angles and good quality? i play on ultra but i think when i zoom in and then use the arrows on my keyboard to move around, the pictures gets less clear and looks kinda blurry. how should i do this?

well if you’re already using ultra, there’s not much you can do lmao. sims 4 is just bad with textures in general. it also depends on the objects as well, some are better quality than others. if i zoom in far on a sim’s face, i generally know there will be some pixelation and i can clean that up in photoshop with topaz clean and the smudge tool. i am very reliant on photoshop sometimes lmao. it sounds like you already have the basics of taking good screenshots, it’s just sometimes you have to fight and work with sims 4′s less-than-hd quality.

i searched things like “bonfire” and pasted parts of it that i wanted on the pic to make it look more realistic, then put a layer mask on the pasted pic and erased the edges and stuff to make it blend in better. the sparks and stuff i added by pasting it onto a new layer and changing the blending mode to screen! 

idk if you have every watched grey anatomy but Lou's backstory is starting to remind me of Jo (Jo is a character from the show) like Jo was in a abusive relationship and she is married to the guy but she cant get divorced or he will come and find her. hmmmmm well i know the control panel opens when you press shift + f2, and then you check the boxes of the effects you want on them. i haven’t heard of this problem so i dunno what other advice to give i’m sorry :{ if it’s your first time installing it, you might have to wait a little to get it to load up.

for any skin detail or makeup, you have to go into s4s and open the package up, go to one of the tabs (honestly i don’t remember which one because i don’t have it open rn lmao) and you’ll see the different age groups and you check the box for toddler. and then save it of course. (there’s probably a better guide on how to do this somewhere lmao)

i just set mine to ts4′s screenshots folder because it’s what i was used to and it works for me haha. hmmmmmm did you copy the exact address or whatever it’s called of your folder’s location and then paste it into the reshade box? try doing that with another location and see if it works. if anything you can do what i did ‘cause it worked for me

RECAP OF GOT7 FANMEET/CONCERT Sorry I'm still a bit hyped and excuse my language OMG HOW DO I EVEN START ON THIS SMH. GOT7 WAS SO FREAKING PERFECT UP ON STAGE ;-; WE CHEERED AND SCREAMED FOR EVERY THING THEY SAID CUS WHY NOT ... RETURN MY SOUL, LIFE, AND VOICE NOW .-. i recorded the entire 2hour thing with one arm smh give me my arm back too got7 First of all, we went to go get our merch (poster, jacket, shirt, and light stick) and got to our seats and all... and then we were just waiting for GOT7. Mark's family came exactly 16 minutes before the fanmeet started and we all went wild for a good 3 minutes. So I just went crazy on my Snapchat story and uh spammed it :O THEN it was 7pm and HARD CARRY started playing and we all were just screaming got7 got7 got7 got7 got7 GOT7 CAME OUT LIKE WTFWTFWT I WAS NOT READY i screamed so much with this girl next to me haha she's a jackson bias <3 IT GOT LIT AF.
