Saltpond City Band "Boko a Ko"2022 Ghana Afro Funk,Afro Jazz,Afro Beat

Originally formed by the the legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Ebo Taylor about seven years ago, the Saltpond City Band is now led by his son Henry Taylor, a keyboardist and lead vocalist that commands the buoyant 8-piece outfit to glory in their latest album Boko A Ko. Released by Meet Me There Records, Boko A Ko delves into relationship problems told in a funky and energetic highlife way by the talent of an unique band. Over the years, the Saltpond City Band has played hundreds of shows with Ebo Taylor and became a household name in the international touring circuit. Their new record has more of a touch from Henry Taylor, although the legend of Ebo appears in “Mennbo Wobi”. Boko A Ko fuses a special brand of highlife, funk and afrobeat, slickly woven into a refreshing twist on classic Ghanaian highlife. With the core of the band set deep in the highlife experience, Taylor and company deliver a driving combination of robust horns, fluid percussion and earthy vocals. Available on vinyl, this album provides an unmissable experience of modern highlife and african jazz. Courtesy of Meet Me There Records, the profits from the album/label will be invested into the construction of a music studio in the community of Abledomi and continuing their work in the community such as DJ and instrument lessons. Invaluable initiatives.....~ Credits

Kongo Dia Ntotila is a fusion of Afrikan roots inspired beats and bass grooves with jazz detours on a journey through the musical motherland; with sunshine sounds of Kongolese seben guitars and horns reminiscent of the golden age of rumba odemba that keep you dancing along the way. The group formed in Leeds and recorded their first album as Congo Dia Ntotila. Released in July 2012, 'Seben Steps to Heaven' was based on Central Afrikan dance floor riffs combined with lively Kongolese style vocals and 'animation'. After a break and a relocation to the capital, original founders Mulele Matondo (bass), John Kelly (guitar), and David Lessie (drums/vocals) reformed the band, inviting a tiny but mighty horn section to join them. William Scott (saxophone) and Mike Soper (trumpet) bring the brass to the forefront of the musical conversation, and a new synergy to the Kongo Dia Ntotila core sound. With old album favourites remixed and a refreshingly unforced fusion through their new material drawing on jazz, reggae, afro-beat and more, the renamed Kongo Dia Ntotila is expanding their appeal and bringing more fire to the dance floors.....~

This is a great record and it’s cool. It’s just a beautifully played, beautifully arranged and composed record.” NPR - New Music Friday Top 6 Albums - John Morrison...~ ★★★★ “An absorbing ride. Collectivity, groove and a powerful live show are prized and shine through; perfect for the festival season we are sadly missing.” The Observer – Neil Spencer...~ ★★★★ “Beautifully layered and organic, trippy and hypnotic. This is the good stuff, don’t waste a drop of it! ‘To Know Without Knowing’ reminds us that Ethio-jazz isn’t music that’s rooted in the 60’s but an ever growing, expanding art form that has such relevance today.” Blues And Soul Magazine...~ “Lyrically inspired and musically assured, To Know Without Knowing, continues to expand the parameters of what Ethio-jazz can be in the 21st century.” Bandcamp - Album Of The Day – Andy Beta...~ ★★★★ “A startlingly successful marriage of old and new.” Q Magazine – Steve Yates...~ ★★★★ “An irresistible collective effort. Volcanic.. fusillades of brass and percussion.. spiraling rhythms.. starkly hypnotic.“ The Times - Clive Davis....~ “Ancient to modern sensibility. Rammed with more rhythm-stretching melody than its groove ought to have room for.” The Guardian - Jazz Album of the Month- John Fordham...~

Founded in 2011 in Bamako (Mali) under the impetus of Bamba Dembélé, percussionist and co-founder of the Super Djata Band, mythical group of virtuoso guitarist Zani Diabaté who died on January 4, 2011 in Paris (France), Bamba Wassoulou Groove is composed of 7 artists (3 guitars, 1 bass, 1 drums, percussion and a singer). Bringing together experienced musicians and young talents, the group updates and modernizes a music that has lost none of its strength and originality. Alternating between new pieces and great classics of the Bambara repertoire (Mandinka music, Wassoulou music), Bamba Wassoulou Groove exudes an energy and a telluric power during his concerts. Psychedelic and bluesy electric guitars, hallucinatory and hypnotic solos, inhabited voices, torrid rhythms, Bamba Wassoulou Groove gives punch to the current music of Mali....~
Bamba Wassoulou Groove "Farima"2015
Zani Diabaté, who died in 2011, was one of the great Malian guitar heroes who never quite made it in the west, despite his adventurous fusion of traditional styles and rock energy; he was compared to Hendrix when the exuberant album Zani Diabaté & The Super Djata Band was released here in 1988. But now his music and style are being resurrected, thanks to percussionist Bamba Dembélé, who played with him in Super Djata before joining the legendary Super Rail Band De Bamako, alongside drummer Maguett Diop and guitarist Moussa Diabaté – who now reappear alongside Dembélé in Bamba Wassoulou Groove. This is a band dominated by three guitarists, with Moussa taking the lead on new songs and old Super Djata favourites. On Farima he switches from a cool, drifting introduction to a driving solo, while Bina is a mellow workout featuring inter-twining guitars. Impressive ....Guardian review......~ Credits

Bamba Wassoulou Groove "Dankélé"2020
Philippe Conrath (creator of Festival Africolor) explains : "To create the Bamba Wassoulou Groove a connoisseur was needed, a man of confidence who would also ensure human and musical unity. Who better than Bamba Demb?l? (who passed in 2018) to build such a band? Bamba, the indispensable, the fixer, the invincible. Former member of Zani Diabatat?s legendary Super Djata Band, he had all the contacts in Bamako to set up the Wassoulou Groove. Helaunched a formidable machine with an unrelenting rhythm, that allowed the three fierce guitars of the group to soar, carrying Ousmane Diakit?'s voice into a trance. funk, rock, the Bamba Wassoulou Groove is a new virus that will contaminate the world's dance floors."....~ Tracklist

Extra Golden "Ok-Oyot System"2006
Like 'Planet Waves' Dylan or Fataar/Chaplin era Beach Boys, 'Ok-Oyot System' bathes, sometimes paddles in, a certain best case scenario melancholy. 'It's Not Easy' confirms these suspicions, if one is cold enough to view Extra Golden with cynicism. Lucid bubbling pedal steel, what Robbie Robertson might view as somewhere between a primal scream and a man just grasping he has a hangover three days after his bender began, rich guitar and 'Fool To Cry' out of breath pacing, at over seven minutes it turns off on its dry country dirt track just as we start to look towards the highway. Popular Stateside for all the right reasons, 'Osama Rach' can be thematically difficult to resist, sounding like early 80s Joe Jackson landing some thousand or so miles short of Kenya in West Africa instead. Their cult status hasn't shackled their id too much, it's music to sip a mid afternoon coffee to, it represents music always best served sometime in April.....~ Credits

Extra Golden "Hera Ma Nono"2007 double LP
The second album from the U.S./Kenya Afropop hybrid thankfully keeps the emphasis on Africa, with ideal results. Trekking to Africa for a bit of extra musical flavor has long been one of the more dubious traditions in Western pop, with the results too often no better than hauling back some exotic souvenir or ornament. Extra Golden, however, is no opportunistic in-and-out cultural exchange. The group is in a lot of ways an extension of Golden member Ian Eagleson's Ph.D. research in Kenya, where he studied that country's benga music. There he hooked up with Kenyans Otieno Jagwasi and Onyango Wuod Omari and invited fellow D.C. Golden member Alex Minoff along for the ride. The results, captured on Extra Golden's debut Ok-Oyot System, sounded like a bona fide collaboration. Alas, Otieno Jagwasi passed away before the album's release, but that only redoubled Extra Golden's efforts to keep the music alive. And it did take some effort, too. U.S. tour plans were almost scuttled before Barack Obama's office intervened and helped get the group members visas (Obama and his people have since helped other African acts get to the States as well.) That hurdle crossed, Eagleson, Minoff, Omari, and Jagwasi's replacement Opiyo Bilongo (plus a few more friends) convened in Pennsylvania to make a new album. Ok-Oyot System, released in 2005, was recorded quickly in a rundown Nairobi nightclub. For Extra Golden's second album Hera Ma Nono (the name translates to "Love in Vain"), the group had the same porta-studio but just short of a full week, plus all the usual studio tools. Predictably, things are a touch slicker, but only a touch. Thankfully, the disc retains the down-to-earth vibe of its predecessor despite the dual luxuries of time and better equipment. Even better, the communal environment clearly heightened the collaboration. Unlike Ok-Oyot System, Hera Ma Nono credits all songs to the band, as opposed to individual band members, and no doubt the results sound more cohesive as well. The album starts with "Jakolando", sung by Onyango Jagwasi in tribute to his late brother, the gently funky pulse switching gears around the four-minute mark to something a little more elegiac. But Jagwasi's "Jakolando" vocals, recorded back in Kenya, are pretty much just a cameo. The band handles the rest of the singing, taking turns on lead but all chipping in at one point or another. "Obama" is a jovial dance number (thanking the U.S. senator for his help) that gives way to a dramatic fuzz-guitar solo denouement. "I Miss You" is like a Nairobi country ballad, while "Night Runners" (sung partly in English) initially recalls the polyrhythmic swing of the Meters before shifting to a more buoyant groove driven by interlocking guitars. "Street Parade" is the first track on the album to feature lead vocals from Eagleson, and, along with "Brothers Gone Away" (and as with his most direct contributions on Ok-Oyot System, like "It's Not Easy"), it recalls 1970s singer-songwriter rock in the mold of rootsy globetrotter Ry Cooder. That's hardly a bad thing but perhaps not the best reference in this context. Fortunately the 11-minute "Love Hijackers", sung by Bilongo, and the title track, sung by Omari, end the album on a more African note. Not that the album, and Extra Golden as a whole, don't go a long way toward making distinctions between "African" and "American" irrelevant, but it's Nairobi that courses through Hera Ma Nono far more prominently than, say, Washington, D.C. In fact, the closer the disc threatens to come to home, the more you hope it gravitates back to Kenya, clearly its spiritual and musical home. In an ideal world, other similarly inclined acts with their eyes and ears toward Africa will follow Eagleson's and Extra Golden's lead back to the source....By Joshua Klein....~

The 1960s and 70s were a tough time to be in the Angolan capital, Luanda. The country was continually at war, firstly as the Portuguese colonialists battled against three liberation armies, and then, after independence in 1975, as former freedom fighters turned on each other, with Cuba and the west backing different sides. It was a time of fear and paranoia, and yet, amazingly, this was a golden era for Angolan music. The recordings featured on this rousing and intriguing compilation are mostly unknown outside the African state, and are only available now thanks to the enthusiasm of Samy Ben Redjeb, who specialises in rereleasing classic African vinyl. The tracks are all by guitar bands, with a dash of organ on the final recording. They mix local and Latin rhythms with influences from Angola's northern neighbour, Congo, and echoes of western psychedelia or surf guitar is sometimes added. It's an upbeat, often hypnotic fusion that includes the intertwining guitars of Jovens Do Prenda, the dance music of Os Bongos, the Cuban influences of N'Goma Jazz and the half-declaimed balladry of David Zé, who was killed in 1977, perhaps because the politicians feared his popularity. An obscure release, maybe, but well worth checking out....Robin Denselow...Guardian review....~ Tracklist

Mbongwana Star "From Kinshasa"2015 Congo,Tradi - Modern,Soukous,Post Punk,Electronic,Hip Hop,World Music
full spotify
https://open.spotify.com/album/2mYTgzQ3GJ0GseYefPIwRl
Mbongwana Star, a newly formed 7-piece band from the Democratic Republic of Congo, are preparing for the May release their debut album, ‘From Kinshasa’, and associated European tour. ??Coco Ngambali and Theo Nzonza first formed a band fifteen years ago, inspired by their love of Congolese rumba and its pantheon – Franco, Tabu Ley Rochereau and Pépé Kallé. That band, Staff Benda Bilili, hit the big time: two major albums, a world tour and starring roles in the acclaimed film ‘Benda Bilili’. Inevitably, the big time hit right back. The band collapsed under the weight of its own success. ??But in the shanty-villages of Kinshasa – Africa’s third largest city – bands are recycled along with everything else. Music and musical instruments, just like fashion, art, jewellery, pedal-power contraptions and motor vehicles, all rise from the inexhaustible scrap heap. Coco and Theo gathered up the necessary parts of a band from the younger generation, crammed them together and started belting out a shambles under the name Mbongwana Star – ‘mbongwana’ meaning ‘change’. They were indeed looking for change, for something new. ??That’s when they met Liam Farrell, aka Doctor L, a maverick musician and producer on the Parisian hip-hop and electro scenes who produced Tony Allen’s ‘Black Voices’ and who was looking to find the punk ethic alive in Kinshasa’s raucous swelter-skelter. The music that Coco and Theo played to Doctor L was vigorous – a heedless mass assault of percussion, guitars and voices on the edge of tearing itself apart with its own momentum. Some form of collaboration seemed inevitable. ??Though he’d eventually play on and mix the album, Doctor L initially set out simply to record as much as he could, chipping away, paring down, honing. “It’s all recorded in the red,” he says over a dodgy Skype connection. “Sometimes I over-boost mikes that are recording nothing, just to pick up the kind of environment that’s around me now. Can you hear it? There are three TVs going full blast. Distortion multiplies the energy. I love it!” ??And the result? A fusion (‘too smooth and seamless a word for this angular hodgepodge’ according to The Guardian) of traditional Congolese rhythms with a big fistful of European post-punk bass and busted electronics. ‘Afrobeat with a solid steel casing’, says Fact Magazine. ??So this isn’t what you would expect from a Congolese band or even an African sound. Like the weird Congo Astronaut that haunts their first video, ‘Malukayi (feat. Konono No.1)’, Mbongwana Star is a naturally occurring, smashed-together combination of things that’s both unexpected and somehow inevitable, too. It’s made from bits of the past and points toward a strange but exciting kind of future, but more importantly you can tell that it’s just loving the present....~

Trio Da Kali And Kronos Quartet "Ladilikan"2017 Southern Mali / US  Mande Music,Classical,World Music
full spotify
https://open.spotify.com/album/6QTcerckteZ2pWqVAAdrw5
“A bold fusion of the musical traditions from the West and those of Africa: Western tempered scale instruments blend seamlessly with traditional African instruments, creating a wonderful musical hybrid that is engaging, fascinating and irresistible… If it is true that music crosses all boundaries and connects all of us with our common humanity, regardless of the usual divisions, then Ladilikan shines brightly as a wonderful example of putting that idea into practice. Perhaps collaborations like this can, in their own small way, show the road ahead for all of us.” PHIL VANDERYKEN.....~ Ladilikan is a collaborative album by Trio Da Kali and Kronos Quartet. Comprised of gifted musicians from celebrated hereditary musical families in Mali, Trio Da Kali features balafon player Fodé Lassana Diabaté, a long-time member of Toumani Diabate’s Symmetric Orchestra; bass ngoni player Mamadou Kouyaté, the eldest son of the instrument’s greatest exponent Bassekou Kouyaté; and singer Hawa ‘Kassé Mady’ Diabate, daughter of Mali’s greatest traditional singer Kassé Mady Diabate. Trio Da Kali was initially formed in 2014 by musicologist Dr. Lucy Durán for the Aga Khan Music Initiative. Since 2008, AKMI has brought Kronos together with leading musicians from around the world to compose, arrange, and perform new music rooted in regional traditions. Trio Da Kali’s trio format and repertoire are now endangered in contemporary Malian music. Da Kali means ‘to give a pledge’ – in this case to a musical heritage that dates back to the early 13th century.....~

Rokia Traoré "Tchamantché" 2008 double LP Mali Mande Music,World Music
full spotify
https://open.spotify.com/album/2n67J2WrEvlYz0w8S0Nhtv
Malian singer Rokia Traore was one of the big highlights from Womadelaide last month. Whilst just solo and acoustic, playing to a media contingent on the first day, her music was pure and innocent, gentle acoustic folk, deeply heartfelt, intensely personal. A few days later we saw her with her band, a huge bombast with everything from slap bass to afrobeat and her strutting around stage absolutely magnetic in front of the powerhouse. And now we get to see another side to her. The question has to be asked though, how many sides does this intensely talented lady have? Tchamantche exists somewhere in between the two aforementioned worlds, where not just acoustic and electric meet, but also some great production and mixing. This is very much a contemporary album, multi-tracked vocals whispering out of each speaker, yet also strange low key experimental sounds adding atmosphere to her at times sparse tunes. The album is dedicated to the great Mali bluesman Ali Farka Toure, and you can hear his influence in her acoustic guitar playing, but she’s moved well beyond her influences, incorporating beat-boxing, harp and perhaps strangest of all she covers Gershwin’s The Man I Love. She also rarely takes the easy option, on the opening cut the majestic Dounia the beat comes in midway, sparse and jazzy with bass but really it’s her voice, changing the pitch and enveloping the stereo field that takes it to the next level. In fact the way these tunes develop, the way she kicks it up a notch occasionally really defies conventional wisdom, resisting the urge to use the kit, instead altering the pitch of her voice, or dropping things away. It’s fascinating music, with lush highly articulated textures, fascinating arrangements, yet also a rare emotional honesty......~ Tracklist

Anak Bayan "Anak Bayan"1977 Phillipino Psych Rock,Pinoy Rock (D'Swooners, Juan De La Cruz Band..members)
full spotify
https://open.spotify.com/album/2DbPKsh5lrGagX7dT6PuY9
Psych legends and underground gypsy artist ANAK BAYAN. This is a white rabbit style effort with very Psychedelic leads, movements and fuzz. A classic and must be heard to be described, Pinoy rock and Jeepney Rock were the local names for this Psych rock movement.Members of ANAK BAYAN were actually the original core musicians of the legendary Juan de la Cruz band. Drummer Edmond Fortuno's previous band D'swooners were so big in Japan and his wild drumming style really stood out from the rest that he eventually caught the attention of the Plastic Ono band who offered him a drumming stint... Unfortunately, he had to go home. These songs are a collection of recordings that were done in 1973 and were lost for almost 4 years until the tapes resurfaced in '77. It was then mixed and released under A&W records. This is the only album this supergroup ever came out with, and all the original members, except for the sax player, have passed away.....~
To make it straight, it wasn’t Pepe, or Mike, or Wally who coined Juan Dela Cruz. Edmund “Bosyo” Fortuno was responsible for it. Bosyo, as foundly called by his friends, said that he wanted to bring rock and roll closer to the common man, thus Juan Dela Cruz. Also, not common to everybody, Bosyo and Mike Hanopol, together with Bo Razon, Bing Labrador, and Alex Cruz were the original Juan Dela Cruz, Wally Gonzales and Pepe Smith came in after a year or so. Like father like son, Bosyo is born to Ramon Fortuno, a drummer by profession and ironically a big band leader member and leader. At a tender age of 15, Bosyo is already a superstar with his then band The Swooners, who had a major hit in 1964, titled Sonata of Love. Like Pepe Smith, Fortuno jump from band to band and countries to countries, before forming Juan Dela Cruz. After Juan D, he formed his own band, Anakbayan, a progressive rock band who is behind the hits Pagbabalik ng Kwago and Sirang Plaka. Although Bosyo is mild mannered by nature, he is a beast when he is in his element. He is the beat behind Mike Hanopols Laki sa Layaw (and yes it is not Juan Dela Cruz) and tons of legendary Pinoy rock hits such as Bonggahan and Nosi Balasi of Sampi (Sampaguita). Unfortunately, Bosyo succumed to meningitis in 2002 and was survived by his wife, his mom and two kids....~ Line Up:
Bass – Sunny Drums – Edmon Guitar – Marlon (tracks: B4), Vic Keyboards – Bing  (tracks: A1, A2, A4), Bing Labrador (tracks: B3), Ed Jose (tracks: B2, B4), Mario Elepano (tracks: A3, B1) Saxophone – Alex Vocals – Edmon  (tracks: A1, A3 to B1, B3, B4), Vic* (tracks: A1, A2, B2) Tracklist

Heber Gonzalez Bartolome (November 4, 1948 – November 15, 2021) was a Filipino folk and rock singer, songwriter, composer, poet, guitarist, bandurria player, bluesman, and painter. His music was influenced by the "stylistic tradition" of Philippine folk and religious melodies. He was the founder of Banyuhay, a "protest band" that carried the trademark sound of the kubing, a native musical instrument in the Philippines. His compositions were described as a "unique synthesis of rock and blues, and Philippine ethnic rhythms". Bartolome's song "Nena" became a hit in 1977. His song "Tayo'y Mga Pinoy" ("We're Filipinos") was a finalist during the 1978 first Metro Manila Popular Music Festival. Biography Bartolome was born in Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija, Philippines, to Deogracias Bartolome and Angelina Gonzalez. Deogracias Bartolome was a pastor and violin and guitar maker, and a rondalla band leader while Angelina Gonzalez was a singer in the zarzuela. During his school days, Heber Bartolome was a member of the ROTC Band and the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus. Bartolome started his professional career in music in folk houses during the late 1960s.[2] In 1973, Bartolome obtained the degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines. He was a professor of Filipino Literature at the De La Salle University from 1981 to 1984. As a musician, he held performances throughout the Philippines. Abroad, he staged concerts in Australia and Europe. In 1993, he launched Mga Awit ni Heber ("Heber's Songs"), a collection of Bartolome's greatest songs. Apart from being a musician, Bartolome also exhibited artworks and was an active lobbyist for the rights of Filipino composers. He was the founder of the UP Astrological Society. Career in music Bartolome's famous songs include "Pasahero" ("Passenger") (1977), "Almusal" ("Breakfast"), "Inutil na Gising" ("An Awake Fool") (1985), and "Karaniwang Tao" ("Ordinary Person") (1985). He was the songwriter of the tune for Bulwagang Gantimpala's Ibong Adarna, a 1989 musical drama with a libretto written by Rene O. Villanueva. Bartolome was a former member and trustee of the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP), an organization in the Philippines responsible for collecting royalties for its members after holding public performances and for songs used on television and radio broadcast, movies and the like. FILSCAP's responsibility of royalty collecting extends to members of foreign affiliates such as the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (Ascap), Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH), and more than fifty other organizations. Death Bartolome died on November 15, 2021, 11 days after his 73rd birthday. In a June 2021 interview, he had said that he was sick, but did not elaborate....~

Perunggu “Memorandum”2022 Indonesia Indie Pop Rock,Alternative Rock

https://open.spotify.com/album/2ZI3XeIrCM1PsOtK3rlMth
Even though it’s Perunggu’s full-length debut album, there’s something comfortingly familiar about “Memorandum”. Perhaps it’s the late Nineties and early Noughties alternative rock and emo influences, perhaps it’s the adherence to good old-fashioned song craft, tight musical performances and meaningful lyrics. Either way, the Bandung-bred, Jakarta-based trio of Maul Ibrahim (vocals, guitar), Adam Adenan (bass, vocals) and Ildo Hasman (drums, vocals) serve up 11 songs that run the gamut from the mosh-inducing “Tarung Bebas” to the tender “Ini Abadi”, with lyrics that touch on fatherhood (“Pastikan Riuh Akhiri Malammu”), grief (“Kalibata, 2012”), spirituality (“33x”) and much more. It’s no wonder that Perunggu has become your favorite band’s favorite band, and their gigs have taken on a euphoric, religious-like quality in which teardrops flow both within the crowd and on the stage. And while Maul, Adam and Ildo may have started the band as a means of blowing off steam from their corporate careers, you wouldn’t blame them for thinking about giving up their day jobs. (Hasief Ardiasyah)..~

Kasai Allstars are a 25-piece musical collective based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The musicians originally come from the Kasai region, but originating from five different ethnic groups: the Songye, Lulua, Tetela, Luba, and Luntu. Some of these groups have endured conflicting relationships over the centuries, and they each have their own culture, their own language, and their own musical traditions. These were always thought to be incompatible until the musicians decided to pool their resources and form a collective at the instigation of Belgian producer Vincent Kenis. Career In 2008, Kasai Allstars released an album on Crammed Discs entitled In the 7th Moon, the Chief Turned Into a Swimming Fish and Ate the Head of His Enemy by Magic. It was the third release in the label's Congotronics series. The album was well received by Western music critics. In 2010, Crammed Discs released Tradi-Mods vs. Rockers: Alternative Takes on Congotronics, a multi-artist album containing interpretations, covers and tributes to the music of Kasai Allstars, Konono Nº1 and other Congotronics bands, recorded by 26 indie rock and electronic musicians, including Deerhoof, Animal Collective, Andrew Bird, Juana Molina, Shackleton, Megafaun, and Aksak Maboul.[6][7][8] The following year, Kasai Allstars took part in the Congotronics vs. Rockers project, a "superband" of ten Congolese and ten indie rock musicians (including members of Deerhoof, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Konono No.1, Skeletons, and Juana Molina), who collaborated to create a common repertoire and performed at 15 major festivals and venues in ten countries. Kasai Allstars' second full-length album, Beware the Fetish, was released in 2014. The album was well welcomed by the press. In 2017, Kasai Allstars appeared in Alain Gomis' film Félicité, for which they wrote and recorded most of the soundtrack music. The soundtrack album was entitled Around Félicité. The album Black Ants Always Fly Together, One Bangle Makes No Sound was released in May 2021.....~
