just saw someone say Rick Riordan making a TV show is just as bad as anything JKR has done. BFFR you're comparing Rick Riordan trying to make his world more inclusive, changing some parts because of money/time constraints, or just making changes cus he thinks they're needed, to JKR being a terrible person!

Not to sound incredibly pretentious but I am genuinely concerned with how "strong visual aesthetic" is becoming conflated automatically with "good movie". Like the nightmare scenario is that movies just look pretty while saying absolutely nothing

Okay listen I am ideologically opposed to the contemporary near-puritanical black-and-white approach to media so I’m kind of uncomfortable here because on one side, I believe in being able to appreciate and discuss “problematic” media, especially ones that are not exactly recent, on the other side, the movie Goncharov definitely has some pretty skeevy undertones that I don’t see anyone discuss so... I’m kind on a fence about the Goncharov renaissance.

Watched the Barbie movie today… Allan is me, Ryan Gosling is hot in those bro ken outfits, and all of them are queer. also made for a great reminder of my sexuality (aro/ace spectrum, emotionally attracted to women but aesthetically more to men) also realized my ideal relationship may be more toxic than I initially realized (a friend who is in love with me but I am not in love with them. we go on dates and stuff maybe but they know not to expect me to return romantic affection they give me. tho in return I will be very grateful and love them platonically with all my heart 4ever bc mine <3)

I just think it’d be hilarious if Oli in the Star Wars au is just the same Oli from Empires. Everything is an AU except him, he’s once again isekai’d into a world and has no idea what’s going on.

He ends up a smuggler and spice runner, just trying to make a living, and maybe figure out just what’s going on. He has a strong connection to the force, not that he knows that - whatever luck and opportune powers he manages to make use of, he thanks the orb for.

He’s half searching the galaxy for anyone he knows, half doing whatever the hell he wants - he’s got a whole galaxy to explore now, after all, why not make the most of it?

It’s a running joke than one of my uncles has no one named after him (my mom’s side is very large and very Catholic with multiple instances of the same name across and within generations), while everyone else has at least one relative named after them. Anyway, I’m going to experiment with my gender a LOT when I move out (will update). If, by some chance, I do end up leaning more masc and wanting a name change to match, I’ll have the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.

(This is not a declaration of my identity; only a somewhat realistic hypothetical scenario)

#I think part of the reason why I watch so many old movies with more eh… effeminate(?) (ish) male actors is because I want what they have #I’m pretty sure I’m not attracted to them (I mean yes in a way I am aesthetically but I can’t see myself in a relationship with a dude)#(I project myself onto them if that makes sense…)#I don’t think I’ll want a name change only because the children call me by my given name (Ms. [my name]) and simplify it to less syllables #and it’s the cutest stinkin’ thing #Although I wouldn’t mind being called like… idk… Jeremiah or Seamus (shay-muss)#If I’m not careful sometimes I’ll introduce myself (in pseudonym) as “Terrence” in Japanese (テレンス) instead of my given name #(“Tarrie” sounds weird in katakana)
