It's just so beautifuly written AND I NEED SOMEONE TO TALK ABOUT THE SYMBOLISM IN THIS FOR HOURS. Vampire theme & catchy lyrics (if you understand russian!) & very interesting and like... idk? It's so hard to get tired of the instrumental, it's sooo energic I think? And I just love that. My brain loves it way too much I think skkks

Shouldn't Have Shared (Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Fem!Reader)
A/N: Following up my previous post LOL. This is also not proof read, I was listing to a documentary and listening to music in the background of writing. I didn't intend for this to be so long, but I kinda got lost in writing this.
GENRE: Smut
Summary: 'CAUTION! Do not share or this man will appear in your room!' is what the post said. Of course, it was just a hoax.. wasn't it? Sharing it to feed into your obsession for this fictional man from a video game, you're woken up to a pleasant surprise.
Warnings: Unprotected sex, creampie, overly possessive Ghost, primal, mentions of claiming and ruining.
Word Count: 1009
NSFW UNDER CUT
Masterlist here!

Rustle... rustle, rustle...
Stirring in your sleep, you could feel something was.. off. You felt the air tensing around you, becoming hyperaware of your breathing and heartbeat as you began to wake up from your slumber. Opening your eyes and rubbing the sleep from them, you turned away from the wall only to see the shadow of a large man staring right down at you. Your life almost flashed before your eyes.
Feeling your heart stop, you let a loud shriek of terror at the unexpected silhouette. Sitting up quickly, you push yourself to the corner of your bed, your body working on autopilot as you pegged one of your stuffed animals at him.
You could see the little stuffy you threw bouncing off from his chest, hearing him chuckling under his breath.
"Gonna take a lot more than a stuffed lamb to take me out."
You'd recognise that voice from anywhere.
Holy shit.
Turning on the lamp of your bedside table, you finally got a look at the mystery man standing at the edge of your bed. Eyes adjusting to the light, your eyes widened at the realisation.
"Easy, love, no need to be frightened. It's just me. You know who I am, don't you?" Taking another step, he bent over and leaned his palms into the plush edge of your bed, allowing you to get a closer look at him.
Hmm, blond eyelashes. Cute. Full gear... hot. You nodded, swallowing. He was so much bigger in person. Over a screen you couldn't properly picture yourself next to him, but now that he was up close, it was jarring.
"Good, of course you do."
Slowly, he crouched down and picked up the soft toy, throwing it back next to you. Hearing his voice in person, you couldn't help but shudder as you stared in awe. He was so close, so close to you. If this was going to end in any of the ways you've fantasised about, it was going to end with-
"Tell me, sweetheart, did my character on a screen do me justice, or am I even more striking in person?" he smirked, his voice lingering with an arrogance which would make you gag if it were any other man.
He was real... and damned cocky too.
You hadn't said any words yet, and he noticed your silence, his head tilting as he was almost kneeling on your bed at this point.
"Answer me, lovie."
"Yes."
"You're good at listening, aren't you?" He continued, his voice low in just the right way to send a shiver down your spine. "Now tell me something else, you've always wanted more than just pixels on a screen. You've played the game, you've fantasised, you've shared."
Fuck.
"Fuckin' cheeky for sharing that knowing I'd come find ya, and now I'm here to give you what your imagination can't. Would you want that, lovie?"
Fuck.
You swallowed, hard. The air charged with a palpable energy. It felt as if the room was closing in on you two, the erotic tension flooding the air around you as you felt yourself becoming warmer. While you felt your fluster, your fantasies in turn were becoming more and more real by the second.
God, you wanted this. You needed this.
"Yes."
___
"Quit squirming, damn it."
Your eyes were rolled back. His hand was over your mouth, muffling your pathetic whines. You couldn't risk waking up the house, could you?
Your body pinned down against your bed, his clothed chest against your back. Slamming into you at an ungodly speed with sloppy noised, it was everything you'd dreamed about.
"I said," he started, pulling your hips up with his free hand with a grasp tight enough to bruise, angling every thrust which made you lose your mind, "quit squirming."
It was hard to not drool over his palm, the unholy echo of skin slapping together made you pray that no one else would wake up to hear it.
"Ghost-" you managed to moan out his callsign, muffled against his palm.
"Fuck, baby. Keep quiet f' me." he almost whimpered, his face getting lost and buried in your neck as he nipped and kissed at the soft skin. "Can't have- mmh - ye' waking the others up, can you?"
You were barely able to shake your head, this goddamn hunk of a man keeping you under his weight as he rearranged your insides.
"Sweet girl, how long have you thought about this? Touchin' yourself to the thought of me, now coming into y' room like this and using you like you've wanted." His voice came out as a growl, right against your hear and giving you goosebumps.
One night stands were never your thing, but you could for sure keep this going with him. With your walls clenching around him, your went blurry with tears as your eyes threatened to flutter closed.
His filthy words wavered, his voice breaking as he became increasingly desperate himself.
"Finally been given a taste and this wet cunt is just sucking me in."
With his cock hitting that spongey spot inside you, you tensed under him as you felt your orgasm approaching rapidly. Only a few more thrusts and with a muffled cry, you were coming undone, gushing around him. The feeling only made him whine more as you clamped down on him so deliciously, his hips slamming against your ass were now on borderline primal.
"I'll give you what you want, y're all mine, fuck."
With a final grunt against your neck, you felt the warmth of his cum filling you to the brim. Though, he was so deep inside you that there was no where for his release to go but seep out of you. His his heavy breaths mixed with growls, he removed his hand from your mouth and helped to flip you over.
Pulling you almost down to the edge of your bed, you were put into a mating press, barely comprehending it in your post-orgasm haze.
"We're not done yet. Sweet girl, I'm going to ruin you."

Ok I said I would make a pin full of music so here it is
First off, I mentioned KNOWER. It's a long project that started a really long time ago, but their best stuff is probably coming out like right now. As in, they are just about to release a new album, KNOWER FOREVER. The singles on it are incredible, like I'm The President just comes right out the gate with the fattest walkdown I've ever heard from a horn section. The B section makes it feel like I'm enjoying a song like I would a multiple-course meal. Then Crash The Car just transfixes you. Yes, yes, you should listen to those, but don't neglect the fire they put out in 2017 because you owe it to yourself to watch the live sesh of Overtime:
youtube
Oh god this post is gonna make viewing my blog super annoying isn't it
Anyway the next thing I gotta mention is Vulfpeck. These guys are famous for scamming Spotify, basically. They released an album full of 30-second tracks of pure silence, just absolutely nothing, titled Sleepify. They got online and said "Yo guys, help us raise money for a free concert by listening to this on loop while you sleep." What they were actually doing was exposing a loophole in the way Spotify calculated royalties, and before they could pull the album (citing "content policy violations," of course), Vulfpeck had already bagged around $20,000, so they put on the completely admission-free Sleepify Tour, which was incredibly fucking based of them.
Vulf went on to become several spin-off projects, all entirely independently released and full of some of the stankiest funk fusion that I cannot stop listening to.
My favorite of these projects, The Fearless Flyers, is headed by Cory Wong, with a guitar idol of mine for 5+ years Mark Lettieri and of course the government subsidized active bass of Joe Dart, but the keystone of the group is no doubt Nate Smith on drums. Dude makes a three-piece set onstage sound like a full kit.
Like just look at what they can do with the added power of sax:
youtube
And yeah, I could just talk about those guys, but let's get weirder.
I'm talking modal. The kind of stuff that makes my choir-trained mother cringe inward at the dissonance. Let's talk about the crunchiest, most feral fucking harmonies and keyboard solos that make you question what you thought you knew about chord progressions and key centers.
Obviously anyone super into this stuff will have already heard of Jacob Collier, so I won't show him. But THIS:
I listened to this the first time and it was just.. too much. I put it in its own specific playlist titled "very complex shit" immediately. When I went back to it, enough time had passed and I had learned enough that after way too many listens I can actually follow along with this insanity. This track blew my fucking mind, dude. I have never heard a chorus use so many of the 12 chromatic notes and still sound heavenly. The groove changes add so much texture. The flute solo goes off way too hard. The slower final section is just disgusting syncopation when the drums come back in. Everything about it is incredible, and this album came out in 2007. I am staring back at years of my life I spent not listening to this and ruminating my lack of music theory knowledge. And when I wanted to see if some kind transcribing jazz grad student like June Lee had uploaded anything of System, I found a 2020 reboot with 24 musicians playing System for over twice its original runtime, and guess who did the showstopping final solo??
Tumblr media
JACOB FUCKING COLLIER.
Look him up if you don't know. The other musicians I obsess over inspire me. This guy makes me want to quit.

SCENARIO
First post of the new year. What better way to start than with some angst to comfort? The comfort will be in part two.
Key to Your Heart - Oikawa Tooru
"Y/N what happened to the lock? And why's my stuff out here?"
You rolled your eyes as you held your phone outside of the tub. It was late, very late. This was the THIRD time Oikawa came home late from his practice that ended HOURS ago. You had told him about your concerns the first time, worried he was overworking himself, but he dismissed you with some poor excuses. The second time, you were more stern, but he still gave the same attitude. So you ended the conversation with a warning: if this happened again, you would change the locks, and he could be someone else's problem.
Clearly, it went in one ear and out the other.
You were tired of waiting in worry for him to return. He never told you if he was staying late for extra practice, so you'd stay up in case something else was going on. Well, no longer. Tonight, you remained true to your words and changed the locks once Oikawa's practice ended 3 hours ago with no arrival and no update from him. Then you packed his stuff and left it outside the door. Now, you were calming yourself with a nice bath and music.
It was around 5 hours after practice had ended when your boyfriend called from outside the door. "I told you the last time you kept me up waiting for you," you explained. "If you didn't fix your act, I'd change the locks, and you would no longer be my issue. Be your own if you have any respect for people's sleep schedule." You heard Oikawa sigh in frustration over the phone. 'Good. Now he knows how I felt when he wouldn't listen.' "Are you serious right now?" He groans. "You know how important volleyball is to me. You knew what you were getting into when we started dating."
I kissed my teeth. 'This boy isn't listening.' "What are you doing right now? Is that water? Are you in the bath right now?" I splashed the water a little to answer his question. "I'm de-stressing. Afterward, I'm going to bed without the burden of a boyfriend who doesn't listen and sabotages himself and his relationship. I'm done talking to a human wall who acts like I don't know what I'm talking about. I dated you knowing you were passionate about volleyball. What I didn’t know is that you're actually obsessed with it enough to push everyone's concern aside. Your girlfriend included."
There was silence on his end, so you used this chance to get out of the tub. By the time you dried yourself, you finally heard his voice. "Are you actually serious? You're kicking me out?" Oikawa's voice sounded much weaker, like something finally sunk into that head of his. You nodded in response even though he couldn't see you. It wasn't fun for you to be doing this, but you've seen this pattern in others' relationships. The dismissing and constant worrying... It all ended badly. You weren't the kind of person to believe false hopes that you two were magically different. On the contrary, you were the kind of person who learned from mistakes and took proper action. "Yes. I'm kicking you out. And if you want to break up I guess we'll do that too."
"No, what? I don't want that! I don't want this, either. I- I just- I need to be the best. You don't understand-"
"You're right. I don't understand. Even if you love something, it shouldn't be hurting you like this. Yet, you ignored the signs that something was wrong and continued digging a deeper hole. And I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let you drag me down in that hole. Goodbye, Oikawa. Best of luck."
Oikawa's phone beeped to signal that the other person had hung up. He stared at the phone with your contact picture on it. The photo was of you when you first came to one of his games. You were smiling, high on the same energy he was after his win. You had sung his praises all the way back from the game that day. It was in that moment he vowed to himself that he would win even more in the future, so you'd always be proud of him. But now look at him, standing alone outside of the home he shared with you. You had locked the doors on him, along with your heart.
"I'm going to bed without the burden of a boyfriend who doesn't listen and sabotages himself and his relationship." Your words kept replaying in his mind.
He did this. You warned him, but he ignored you. With you out of the picture, he could play volleyball until the sun came up, but that's not what he wanted. He wanted you, more than anything.
But there's nothing he can do now. Right now, he needs to find a place to rest and come up with a plan to unlock those doors.

So, I have a few thingssss so say 🙂‍↔️ I have way more but I can’t think straight
Down Bad is so catchy 💆🏼‍♀️
I understand everybody’s obsession with so long, London -hello, the lyrics??- but I would’ve loved it with a different music..? If that makes sense? 🥲 doesn’t slap like it could imho
Also thanK you aIMee - hahah 😂 “I don’t think you’ve changed much” ~ spot on! I think Cassandra also references KimK..?
And why is nobody talking about the alchemy? CUTE & CATCHY 😍
Black dog is about MH? The bridge is chefs kiss tho!
Fortnight has a kinda 80s vibe in terms of the music? 😌 Reminds me of a great 80s version of Adore You by Harry I found years ago on YT, btw!
I hate it here - “I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists. And getting married off for the highest bid. Nostalgia is a mind's trick. If I'd been there, I'd hate it.”
Love how shes romanticising “the good old days” whilst also heavily criticising doing so by pointing out the racism, sexism - ugh. Yes.
OK OK first of all i really love how you came to me with all this, i'm obsessed with it actually soooooo i'll use this as an excuse to give you all my thoughts on the whole album! (bare in mind i've not listened to the second part of the album yet because i've been busy today so i only had the chance to listen to the first part twice to understand the lyrics more!) 😌
fortnight: i completely agree with you on that one! it's such an 80s vibe and i love it, also the lyrics are soooo ugh! "i love you it's ruining my life" give her the grammy NOW!.. i do wish post malone featured more on it though bc i really like him and his music so!
the tortured poets department: LOVE! the chorus is soooo good! when the track titles got released i was actually most excited about this one bc i just couldn't think of how she would include a line like that into a song but obviously she made it work bc she's a mastermind :')
my boy only breaks his favourite toys: so catchy! so matty coded tbh so she ATE with that one!
down bad: SOOOOOOOOO CATCHY! it's such a banger tbh and so relatable like "fuck it if i can't have him i might just die it would make no difference" (makes me think of mase hehehe!)
SO LONG, LONDON: the perfect song to be the special track 5: heartbreaking and earth shattering like the lyrics make me cry ESPECIALLY the 3rd verse!!!! "you swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? i died at the altar waiting for the proof, you sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days and i'm just getting color back to my face. i'm just mad as hell cause i loved this place for so long, london. had a good run, a moment of warm sun but i'm not the one" UGHHHH! and knowing how much this means to her is soooo insane and i can see how you might've liked it with a different music but i actually think it's super fitting because it's the sped up beat like there is going to be a climax in the song somewhere but there isn't and the slow singing of the words kind of counteract it which was what taylor and joe's relationship felt like... like there would be a climax in the relationship with a wedding and babies but it never came and she spent all this time waiting just for it to be over in the end you know? :(
but daddy i love him: I LOVE how she adressed the fact that every single time she dates someone people on the outside who don't know shit about her personal life want to include themselves in it and give their opinion and i love how she wrote the song in a sarcastic fuck you way BUT since it's about matty i feel like most of the opinions on their relationship are justified bc of who he is and the things he said so i feel like most of us were just looking out for her in the way we were against it you know? like there were reasons why people hated them together so much. ALSO SHE NAME DROPPED ME??? EXCUSE ME TAYLOR???
fresh out the slammer: BANGER! the classic "came out of a heartbreak from a long term relationship and need a rebound for some time" LOVE!
florida: not too sold on it yet but i feel like i need to listen to it a few more times before i can really have an opinion on it 😌
guilty as sin?: i love this song so much. the vibe? the lyrics? i'm in love, it's so relatable aswell LIKE
who's afraid of little old me?: FAVOURITE SONG ON THE ALBUM! BY FAR! the way she wrote about the fame ruining her and her mental health and turning her into someone she never wanted to be is so fucking beautiful honestly like it's devastating but so beautifully written. and the first "who's afraid of little old me?" the way she's screaming it. YES YES YES. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
i can fix him (no really i can) : it's so sexy??? like the way she sings it and the lyrics? like she's so sexy like yes queen if anyone could change a man IT'S YOU!
loml: sooooooo heartbreaking and such a masterpiece... how it goes from love of my life to loss of my life... i'm going to CRY. i'm conflicted whether it's about joe or matty though... maybe both? i'm not sure but it's beautiful either way. 💔
i can do it with a broken heart: it feels like bejweled... but in a suicidal "i wanna die" but on crack way! it's so fun though??? like so sad how she had to put on a smile ever single night on tour even if she felt like shit but i'm so proud of her always for making it through and being happy now and i hope we as fans had a good impact on that too!
the smallest man who ever lived: again... conflicted who it's about but it's such a great song and whoever it's about will have to fucking deal with me soon bc HOW DARE YOU HURT HER LIKE THIS.
the alchemy: as you said SO CUTE SO CATCHY! so happy she found happiness with travis and it's all good now and she's healing from all the heartbreak and the hard times she faced the past year :( no one deserves happiness more than her! ❤️‍🩹
clara bow: LOVE LOVE LOVE! it feels like it's the second part of "the lucky one" if you know what i mean... and her singing about herself but not in the way she sang about clara bow and stevie nicks with them being heart capturing icons everyone loves but in a self depricating way... heartbreaking bc she sadly still think of herself as an imposter in all this but so beautifully written again. also taylor swift name dropping taylor swift on a taylor swift album???? INSANE. 🥺
SOOOO basically, i feel like this album was made from the deepest depths of taylor's mind written specifically for the people who get her and have been loving and supporting her for a long time... like there is no proper poppy single or song for the general public on there which is why i think so many people on social media have slammed the album and said she really missed the mark with this one but if you get it and if you understand the situations she sings about bc you've been thorugh them with her it's such a meaningful abum about her heartbreaks, mental struggles, struggles with fame and not feeling like real person but also about her healing journey and seeing the funny side of people having an opinion on your every move you know? i love her. i truly do. mastermind. ❤️‍🩹
WILL CHECK BACK IN AGAIN WHEN I LISTENED TO THE SECOND PART OF THE ALBUM! HEHE!

music emoji. turns to you. midori
ouhhh... midori.... oh my horrid midori....
(more under readmore i think i'm going to go crazy insane over lyricisms for this guy. you're essentially just gonna get a playlist in tumblr formatting)
FIRST OF ALL: for your consideration; Rivers Is a Vampire by Bear Ghost. Listen. I can't put lyrics to character for this one but you gotta trust me.
SECOND: Ferryman by Shayfer James. i don't know something about affection and hatred and murder and the death game. the usual
Tumblr media
THIRD: A Lesson In Dramatics by Save Face and Jhariah. overall i think the song is ever so slightly more outwardly hateful than he is but the point still stands. The screenshot got a bit cut off. Sorry.
Tumblr media
FOURTH: Sundial by Lemon Demon. It's a very wacky goofy song (best description)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FIFTH: this is the part of the post where I start going off on tangents about a character I hardly remember. Mx. Sinister by (oh dear lord we have to turn on caps lock for this one; ), I DON'T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME. I don't like how Midori is portrayed almost exclusively as a creepy stalker dude. Does he, in many ways, act as a shadow across all of the participant's memories? Yes. By no doubts, yes. He spends time lingering in the minds of others. Is that all his character is? no. He has a personality aside from being creepy and obsessive, although those are core tenets of what makes him unsettling, it's the idea that he has been here and that you can't be rid of him. And that, in itself, is a massive metaphor for ASU-NARO. But there's depth to that green-haired freak. Anyways, these lyrics kinda remind me of him despite me saying all that. Nuance or whatever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SIXTH?: Visitation of the Ghost by The Brobecks. It's something reminiscent of how Midori pulls so many strings without being truly, ultimately, powerful at all, it's a matter of appearance and facades with him. All the time.
Tumblr media
SEVENTH, MAYBE? I'M NOT SCROLLING BACK UP TO CHECK: Artificial Heart by Jonathan Coulter. Fairly self-explanatory. Not so much the second line in this as much as every other lyric here. It's a song about your heart getting ripped out and replaced. It's easy to apply to Midori as a character. The fragmentation of the self runs deep with this one.
Tumblr media
EIGHTH, I'M PRETTYS URE: this isn't a true song application but i feel like a lot of will wood and the tapeworms songs from self-ish are applicable to this guy . i don't actually feel like pulling all those up because my computer is about to crash so i'll leave it at one more.
NINTH:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you for coming

tagged by @babygirlboberrey to shuffle my "on repeat" playlist and list the first ten. i've had spotify for so long and i've never really used the auto-generated playlists and it took me a second to find the on repeat one lol
"stick season" by noah kahan. got obsessed w this song in february and came back to it in late july. fucking excellent breakup song (i'll dream each night of some version of you / that i might not have but i did not lose HELLO??)
"motion sickness" by phoebe bridgers. i have never listened to anything else by her. this song has just been a good expression of my mood several days lately
"flatline" by 5 seconds of summer. i didn't think i've been listening to it much recently? but since it's come out it's been one of my favorite songs from 5sos5 so i guess that makes sense if we're thinking longer term
"OWN MY MIND" by måneskin. it was on a mattdrai playlist that i found in may and got obsessed with. it's a fucking banger. haven't really listened to it since mid july though
"blender" by 5sos. again not really a recent listen but since it's been out i've played it probably hundreds of times genuinely so i see why it's on there
"headfirst slide into cooperstown on a bad bet" by fall out boy. they played this at the concert i went to this summer and i didn't know it then but i found a set list and made a playlist and got SO obsessed with this song (and the entire folie á deux album) the second half of this summer
"love like this" by zayn. i listened to this nonstop for like three days when it first came out and i have not listened to it since. girl what algorithm chose what's on here
"this is growing up" by almost monday. i was making a new playlist for this semester (as i do every term [my college does trimesters normally but i'm studying abroad this fall] fun facts about hannah i guess!) and this was one of the recommended ones and i listened to the little preview and did a double take because i've worked at kohl's on my summer and winter breaks in college and this song is on their soundtrack. but it's a pretty good song and it fit the vibes of the playlist, which is not very long, so most of the songs on there should be on my on repeat lol
"lavender haze" by taylor swift. again yes it's a song i was obsessed with but it is not a current obsession. how far back does spotify pull from when it does this lil generated playlist
"sucks to see you doing better" by valley. another fun story incoming. so much hannah lore in this one post. one of my professors last spring would play music from his spotify before every class (his music taste was FASCINATING) and this was playing once and my friend was like "wtf" bc she knows this song and wasn't expecting it. and again when i was making my playlist for this semester it came into my head and fit the vibes
genuinely cannot think of anyone to tag, my brain is swiss cheese this week. if you see this post and you wanna do this go for it :) and if you read this all the way through then well uhhh you know several more things about me now!

May as well do version two of the musical challenge that @lets-dance-to-joy-division kindly tagged me on. Last night I did five (six really) fairly new to me songs that could evolve into obsessions (pretty sure I'm well on the way with at least three of them). Tonight it's going to be five acts that I've been playing a lot as of late, so I'm kindof obsessed with the band if not necessarily a single song. Again, I don't like to tag people on these things, but if you want to play, you really don't need my permission or anyone else's; just do it.
Five musical acts that Kitty's listening to a lot lately:
Aesthetic Perfection
This will come as no surprise to anyone who has payed attention to my musical posts. I have been absolutely obsessed with Aesthetic Perfection for a good year anyway, and this song has probably been my most obsessively played. I damn near died when I got to be within I can smell your sweat distance of Daniel Graves twice on their recent North American tour. His music has evolved over the years from harsher, angrier stuff with a more electro-industrial edge to what he now calls industrial pop. He does lots of interesting things musically and in his videos. He has the freedom to do so as he told his label to piss off some years ago and he's forging his way independently. He's very fan friendly, and having met him in Baltimore last October, he seems like a nice guy who'd be fun to talk to at length.
Papa Roach
Wait, what? This is nowhere near that synthy dark dancey stuff I posted before. Yep. I didn't like Papa Roach when I heard their first big single, Last Resort, back in the day and I still didn't like it about a year and a half ago when a good friend said that he liked PRoach. But for the last year or so I have LOVED much of their music, including Last Resort. I do actually like rock, but the thing with these guys as opposed to the cock rock and glam rock I grew up with is that Jacoby Shaddix writes and sings about emotions and feelings, not just sex, drugs, and rock and roll. And his lyrics are very catchy and singable in the privacy of my own car. The songs are musically interesting with good use of bass and drumplay that is often more complex than a simple beat. They've also added some synth and electronic elements in their more recent work. It was hard to pick just one song for them, I love so much of their work now. Papa Roach was my big band obsession before Aesthetic Perfection.
Linkin Park
Yes, another rock group, but to me they've always been so much more interesting than that. Mixing rap and singing, two vocalists, Joe Hahn's turntable work, and again with the personal, deeply emotional songs. Their first album Hybrid Theory might be my all-time favorite album, and if not, it's definitely in the top fucking three. Back in the day, at work we called Linkin Park our "angry music." I left them behind for awhile after their second effort Meteora but started to get back into them when I discovered Burn It Down in the mid-2010s (definitely my biggest LP obsession song). It wrecked me when Chester Bennington took his own life. If anyone bothers to throw a funeral for me when I die, I humbly request that two Linkin Park songs be played--One More Light (still cannot make it through that song without choking up) and Leave Out All the Rest.
Ashbury Heights
The first three obsession acts were obvious to me, the last two not so much, but going by my Last.fm stats, Ashbury Heights is my fourth most listened to act in the last year and a half or so. I had never heard of this Swedish duo until they came up for me on Last.fm. Their sound is varied and they've had at least three female singers during their run (I believe they are currently back with their original). I don't like everything, I tend to prefer their older stuff, but what I do like is fun, basically synthpop like this song Spiders. My most obsessive song though has been Spectres from the Black Moss, a catchy tune about a person with mental health issues and an unsupportive partner. The repeated use of the line "no sympathy" is the musical equivalent of fuck you and it is glorious.
God Module
God Module is a bit of a surprise for fifth place as I've only really started listening to more than a couple songs of theirs relatively recently. Their song Plastic was one of the ones I was considering for the final slot on last night's obsession list (and it definitely will become an obsession as I listen to it more). Again with them I don't love everything, but what I do love has a very different and interesting sound with a good beat and something funky going on with the synths. Something stompy I could dance to at the club. Lunacy was definitely an obsession song for me and inspired one of my mixes. Looking forward to digging in to more of their work.
Josie Pace
Bonus artist! I have to add Josie Pace as while my online stats don't reflect an obsession, I listen to her CD a lot in my car. She was one of the openers on Aesthetic Perfection's fall tour. I had never heard of her before and was impressed enough to buy the CD at the show (not typical for me). I swear she is better live than on the recordings. She brings such energy to her performances. Her best stuff isn't even on the CD. The song I wanted to put here hasn't been released yet. Also check out her cover of Pure Morning. She is also extremely sweet and is very happy to talk to you, give autographs, and do selfies. I hope she gets some new music out soon! (Oh and @lets-dance-to-joy-division, she's from the Detroit area.)

1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?
Okay, so I started reading fanfiction when I was... probably sixteen almost seventeen? So about five years ago. As for writing it... Well my first fanfic was written in, like, 2015, so I was roughly around fourteen. I only started publishing fanfiction in 2019, and let me tell you, there is a vast difference in quality from 2015 to 2019 to now. It's ridiculous.
9. Tag 3 fic writers you think are underrated/unknown in the fandom/fanfiction community.
Hmm. See, the problem is, unless I know you on tumblr, I'm not going to avidly follow your works. So I'm just going to say: @itsybitsybatsyspider @pacificseaotter and @felicityphoenix5 (yes, you. No matter how many hits or kudos or comments or likes or reblogs you get, it'll never be enough to compensate for how awesome you are. That goes for you, Itsy, and you, too, Paci).
11. How do you come up with your fic titles?
Usually just by listening to music that fits the vibe of the fic, then picking a good lyric that encapsulates... something in my fic. It could be the character's feelings, their story arc, or the general story line. The few exceptions are when I asked for help with a name, and when I was just starting out.
17. How obsessively do you sit and stare at your fic after you’ve just posted and wait for feedback?
See, I don't just sit at tumblr/AO3 obsessively; oh make no mistake, I check on it, but really what I'm watching obsessively is my email. Because that's the one place I get to see when someone leaves kudos/comments, and when someone mentions me on tumblr. So I'll usually be checking that obsessively, and occasionally checking on tumblr.
To answer the actual question... um, 8/10. Pretty bad. I need validation.
20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Easily the part where I get to see this scene I've had in my head for days/months/years (in some instances) coming to life on the page. It's so cool. My second favorite part, is of course, interacting with my audience.
21. What’s your least favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?
Grinding out the "connective tissue" that joins together two important scenes. Like, there needs to be character growth in there, they need to get from point A to point B, but the journey is long and arduous, and I am a weary traveler with few words left in me by the time I get to where I'm going.
25. Do you listen to music as you write? If possible, link your writing playlist.
I listen to music all the time, not just when I'm writing. I have different playlists for different moods, and even different fics. Sadly, all my playlists are private, and I don't feel like trying to figure out how to un-list them as private.
30. Post a snippet from your current WIP without context - no more than 300 words.
I don't know if I'll ever post this, but it's been a passion project for years now. anyway, here's the snippet:
"The graveyard is quiet. No one’s there, no one’s watching, and he has to take several pauses to just breathe around the pain. He doesn’t want to do this. He doesn’t want to see their names on the gravestones, doesn’t want to have to talk to cold granite in order to say what he wants.
Doesn’t want to say goodbye in the first place."
41. What’s your most popular fic (with the most notes on tumblr, most hits/kudos on ao3)?
Without looking, I'm going to guess it's Let the Brokeness Be Felt, but lemme check real quick...
Yup. It's Let the Brokeness Be Felt. I'm so shocked. Truly. Deeply.
To be fair, it was the epic conclusion of a trilogy that I poured my heart, soul, and mental health into, and I took like, three long breaks in the midst of writing it, so there were lots of people begging me not to abandon it and adding theories and such. It was great, posting it, though looking back on it now... it's not my favourite. I don't hate it or anything, I just think I could have done better.
Thank you so much for the ask, I'll be sending you one... probably in the morning, I am so tired rn I wouldn't be able to properly think through the questions, or appreciate the response.

Your meta posts on Sirius and Remus and Wolfstar were just 👨‍🍳😘! I’d love to know any in-depth meta or headcanons you have on Jily (or James and Lily separately). In particular I’d love to know your take on their patronuses, their relationship, and whether you feel Lily should actually have been with Snape / whether Snape’s patronus means that Snily were actually soulmates. (I’m a Jily fan so I’m hoping the latter isn’t true, but I’m willing to be open minded).
Thank you so much again for those excellent posts!
Thank you so much. I've had one of those weeks at work where you think "why on Earth do they let me do this job, I am hopeless at it". So it is really cheering to know that, at least in the world of HP Metas, I'm doing something right. Thank you :)
Don't worry about what it or isn't true- first because these are just my thoughts and you can disregard them completely. Second- none of this is true! It's a story, it's fiction!
I don't have many of my own Jily headcanons. A few vague ideas, maybe I will write more about them when Pluto is wrapped up. The wonderful @blvnk-art went though a lovely Jily phase and I have headcanoned a lot of their work.
Thought on Lily, James, Snape and Patronuses:
Lily shouldn't have actually been with Snape, because Lily didn't want to actually be with Snape. End of.
2. The Patronus thing is not proof that a couple should be together romantically:
We only hear of one case of A Couple With Matching Patronuses: Jily. Good for them, how lovely. But there are plenty of other couples in HP, who don't have Matching Patronuses. So it isn't a prerequisite of compatibility or romantic fate.
We only hear of 2 cases of Changing Patronus: Snape and Tonks. Snape was never an item with Lily. We don't know when Tonks' Patronus Change occurred, but when we find out about it she is not an item with Lupin. So neither couple are together romantically when we see their Patronus changed. Therefore it's possible to interpret a changing Patronus as a negative thing- a display of obsessive love or a reaction to heartbreak. Even if you don't view it that way, there are plenty of other people falling in love in HP whose Patronuses don't change. So we can conclude that it's something that occasionally happens, but not always. Therefore it's proof of emotion, but not fate.
3. I don't even think soulmates or romantic fate are A Thing at all in the HP universe. Fate- yes. Souls- famously. Love (including romance) being a force- certainly. But I don't remember soulmates ever being mentioned. When magic permits connection between people who are romantically involved/attracted (Amortentia, Ron finding his way back to Hermione via the Deliminator) these are feelings/connections which already exist. Because Harry is a dumbass, Amorentia feels to him like a sign whacking him over the head telling him he fancies Ginny, but it isn't treated as conclusive proof that they are absolutely definitely soulmates 4eva and eva. It's perhaps more of an indication of something he hasn't consciously realised/accepted.
All of the above is to do with the power of love (cue the music!) and choices. Which are of course also big themes in the books. If any type of "soulmate" exists in the HP verse, it's couples who have chosen to be together, who have developed a connection/attraction/love over time, rather than some idea of pre-determined compatibility. And in my view that is much, much more romantic.
Or, to put it another way, listen to this song by Tim Minchin:

The White Stripes - Simplicity
I don't think I've ever been fascinated with an artist like I am with Jack White. Really, there's nothing I could say about him that hasn't already been said. Polyphonic has two great videos about Jack's work (Jack White's Obsession with the Number Three and In Defense of Meg White), so I would definitely go watch those before or after you read this. He has a certain type of charisma, this I-don't-give-a-damn-I'm-gonna-make-my-art-how-I-want-to attitude. He's been around in the industry long enough, he has his own label and record pressing factory, he certainly can do whatever he'd like, and he's good at what he does. He's willing to experiment with his sound and take great risks to achieve something new. I could talk about all of his work for quite some time, but this post is all about his greatest achievement: The White Stripes
Before I got a "real" job, I had to find a cheap and easy way to sustain my music habit without having to listen to an ad every other song. I would go to the library, check out a CD, rip it onto my computer, and put it on my phone. Janis Joplin, Green Day, MCR, Panic!, Florence + The Machine, and so many more. I went through my entire emo phase without it being documented in my Spotify stats. In February of 2019 (I remembered the month it was that important) I read a comment on a Green Day video suggesting the similarities between Dead Leaves and The Dirty Ground by the White Stripes and Brain Stew. I had to hear it and upon doing so, it sparked my interest. I started listening to the band on Spotify until my weekly library trip. I walked straight to the CDs, flipped through W, and grabbed every White Stripes album I could find (there's only seven, minus the live album, and still I got most of them). I ripped them onto my phone and never looked back.
As he has stated a million times, Jack's basis is in the blues. Jack took that rough, simple sound and brought it into the modern age. With his rowdy electric guitar and Meg White's simple, deep drumming, they blended blues and punk rock to create that iconic White Stripes sound. It is gritty and it is powerful. They understood the concept of simplicity and just how impactful it can be. Their first album only uses four instruments; they don't even use a bass guitar until their fifth studio album Get Behind Me Satan. Limitation is what makes the White Stripes what they are.
One of the most fascinating things about the band to me is the fact that they never used a setlist. They relied solely on silent communication, an almost psychic link to both the audience and each other. They could flow seamlessly from one song to another, not missing a single beat. Any flubbed chord could be revived. Any path could be followed. They felt the energy of the crowd and let it move through them, guiding their every heartbeat. As much as they relied on the crowd, they relied on each other. They could gesture or even lock eyes and know exactly which song they were playing next. They could move on without a second thought and still be on the same page. My favorite example can be found here.
Yes, Jack is incredibly talented. He's the epitome of rock and roll. However, we cannot overlook Meg. Meg is the heartbeat of the band, and what a heart she is. I don't care what any prog-rock-music-purist says, Meg is a brilliant drummer. It doesn't matter what you can do technically on your own, if you can't make something good with someone else, you, your work is useless. Meg's simple drumming style is just as essential to the White Stripes' edge as Jack's guitar. Her frequent use of the bass drum rings out like a beating heart. It's dirty, guttural, and most of all, it blends perfectly with Jack's guitar. Meg wasn't afraid to drum her way, and that is why she is so wonderful. She could follow Jack's lead with silent communication and make each song perfect.
The White Stripes officially dissolved in 2011. Meg's anxiety became too much for her to continue touring and Jack was already starting on other projects. They only produced seven studio albums over their nearly fifteen year run, but dear god, they're good. I'm a huge proponent of quality over quantity. I would rather savor a few good albums than have to suffer through the slow decline and wasting away of a band.
I remember those first few months where all I listened to was Jack White and The White Stripes with great fondness. Listening gave me confidence. I felt like me, it was one component of my lifeblood. Later that year I saw him live with his band The Raconteurs, another band I will make an individual post on one day. He still refused to use a setlist. Seeing him live, watching him communicate with his bandmates, and just rocking out, I've never felt like I did that night. I've seen several of my favorite artists live, ones that I love more than Jack, and still, none of them compare to that night in that old theater, watching him perform. As much as I adore him, I don't think I could ever meet him. Maybe I hold him to too high a standard, maybe I don't want him to know just how much of an impact he made on my life. He taught me that simplicity and limitations can give you more freedom than no rules at all. They get your mind working, leading you to produce art that is detailed and precise.
Maybe one day Meg will return to the stage, but if not, I won't be sad. They had a good run, they were true to themselves, and they left a lasting impact on this world in a way that many artists never will. That is all that matters in the end

one song every day - vol I
Hello again, it's me, the hat man.
If you follow me on instagram (and if you don't, you should) you've probably seen that I started doing a mini curation every day with the aid of those '30 days of music' images.
Precisely, I want to make a post explaining each of them briefly, along with a playlist. This is because I don't want the instagram stories to get overcrowded, so every time that I start a new one, I will delete the previous one and leave a link to its corresponding post. OCD? Well yes, of course.
So, let's start, let's get to it.
vol I spans from August 12th to September 10th, 2022
1. A song you love to sing along to: Bonsai by Polär
- I really like it, what can I say? It's really catchy.
2. A song you listen to while walking outdoors: Lost & Found by Corbu (ft. Jimi Goodwin)
- I was kinda biased on this one because I looked for the song for a while without remembering its name, then I found it and listened to it while walking to my workplace. I mean, it works, right?
3. A song by a boy band: Youngblood by 5 Seconds of Summer
- I like the metal cover by Maddison a lot better, but well, the original is good too.
4. A song by a girl group: Peek-A-Boo by Red Velvet
- I'm not way too deep into k-pop, but I like a couple songs here and there, and this one really got me because of the instrumental.
5. A song that reminds you of home: The Sign by Ace of Base
- It reminds me of my mum.
6. A song with a long title: two queens in a king sized bed by girl in red
- girl in red is sooooo good. There's really no explanation for this one 🤷‍♀️
7. A song you like from a movie: Life is a Highway by Rascal Flatts
- It's from Cars, by Disney Pixar.
8. A song that makes you productive: Language I: Intuition by The Contorsionist
- Thanks Dave for showing me this song. I also discovered a great band because of it. Again, there's really not much to explain.
9. A song where you know all the lyrics: Si Pudiera by Manuel Medrano
- I obsessed over this song. Manuel voice is sooo soothing.
10. A song from the 80s: Bad News by Moon Martin
- Everything about this song is perfect. The riff, the voice, the lyrics, the changes of mood. UGH. SO GOOD.
11. A song that describes your college years: What's My Age Again by blink-182
- I mean yes, I am a college dropout, but I am still on my college years and still act like a dumb kid in some situations (and to be honest I don't want that to change, I like to have fun)
12. A song from the 2000s: Wherever You Will Go by The Calling
- If you know me you know I'm nostalgic for the years between like 1998 and 2006. Music on that period had a very cool feeling, and most romcoms I love were created back then.
13. A song you're afraid to admit you like: Transylvania by Iron Maiden
- I'm afraid to admit I like it because of all the dumb toxic culture and gatekeeping around music like this.
14. A song from the 90s: Kiss from a Rose by Seal
- Thanks again for an amazing song, mum.
15. A song with the best instrumental: Insomniac by Lucy Lu
- This one was tough, ngl, but Insomniac was the winner on this ocassion.
16. A song you loved but hate now: Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
- When I was 10 I loved it but it has been overused and now I can't bear it.
17. A song that puts you to sleep: chance with you by mehro
- I actually just play random mehro to sleep. He's so comforting.
18. A song that you discovered this month: Down by Hemlock Ernst
- I discovered it on August. I think I was just messing around, surfing artists on Spotify and this absolute masterpiece came across. Yes. Oh yes.
19. A song in a different language: Leven by Maan
- I really like music in Dutch, and specifically Maan is one of my favourite artists.
20. A song from the 10's: Ophelia by The Lumineers
- Some people hate this kinda music, you know, the stomp, clap, tambourine. I really like it (actually thinking of making a playlist of it)
21. A song you sing to in the shower: Monophobia by Deadmau5 (ft. Rob Swire)
- I spent all that day thinking of a song that I liked to sing to in the shower and nothing came to mind, so I used one that I like to listen to, though I don't know the lyrics. Its original mix is also like 10 min long so it helps me keep track of my shower time.
22. A song that was released this year: The Valley by Yotto
- Spotify recommends you music sometimes, and they definitely hit the nail with this one. Very good.
23. A song that makes you want to travel: Feels Like Summer by Childish Gambino
- My boss told me that I always pay attention to wording on instructions, so that I can know exactly what I’m being asked for, and provide more than 1 solution if needed. I did this here. I tried to think of a song that I would like to hear while on my way, but I couldn’t think of anything. Then I used my second interpretation of the phrase, so I thought of a song that I’d like to listen to while on my destination, in this specific case at a beach on the afternoon.
24. A song you used to hate but love now: Lovumba by Daddy Yankee
- I used to critique certain types of music, gatekeep and be arrogant. Thank God I’m not anymore, and I can actually listen to whatever the flip I want without caring about dumb people’s opinion. #reggaetonviejito
25. A song that reminds you of Christmas: You Make Winter Warm by Andrew Huang (ft. Dusty Lima)
- I mean, pretty literal. Go listen to the making of, it’s cool.
26. A song title that is all in uppercase: SHIMMER by Ocean Groove
- Me? An Emo kid in 2022? Yes, and I also just bought some Vans Era.
27. An underrated song: Lullabies of Love by Rose Ringed
- Rose Ringed in general, his approach to music is formidable.
28. A song that you've had stuck in your head: Everything Machine by half•alive
- one of my top 1, 3 favorite bands. My favorite song by half•alive, probably?
29. A song that makes you feel sexy: meow by lvusm
- No song could make me feel sexy, sorry, but I really like lvusm’s music.
30. A remix of a song that you like more than the original: My Head Is A Jungle (MK Remix), originally by Wankelmut (ft. Emma Louise) [which at the same time is a rework of Jungle by Emma Louise]
- One of my top 3 favorite DJs/producers, along with Oliver Heldens and... idk, there may be more than 3. About the song itself, wow, MK’s pianos never disappoint.
you can find the playlist here

Calling yourself a fan was an understatement. You were obsessed with anything and everything marvel. And oddly enough, you could after today say you were in the club. It wasn’t a public fact yet, until later that day actually, at the Marvel panel at comic con that you were being announced as the actress for the character, Felica Hardy and no one else knew except for the people who cast you and your best friend who signed an NDA. You were technically still a known actress for your roles on television mainly as Thalia on the PJO Disney + series and a couple of still decently sized films.
You were currently wrapping up signing autographs for fans of yours for today. Your team had planned it out so it wasn’t suspicious that you were at the con with a few of your castmates scattered doing other junkets and press so people wouldn’t guess who they were acting as the cast for new marvel projects.
You had been planning to go meet your best friend, who wasn’t in the industry before getting a text that she bought you both a photo-op with someone and she wouldn’t tell you who. You couldn’t only assume it was a marvel actor that you would indeed, freak out.
Y/b/n: btw I brought you a mask. I get the wig lol.
You: please tell me it doesn’t cover my full face. Also, how are we posing?
Y/b/n: I bought as many photo ops as I could so a lot of different ones, And if I tell you the poses it’ll spoil it.
You: is this with the money I pay you to be my assistant with? Lol fine I’m omw with security
Y/b/n: maybe…
Y/b/n: and they’ll need more backup security for who we’re getting a photo op with than you do for your hellfire.
You roll your eyes before taking your stuff and exiting the booth, before heading out the backways with staff security and your detailed security for the day. You only had security because you wanted to explore the con when you weren’t needed.
Your best friend had also been your assistant for the con weekend, but you didn’t want her to be confined to you the whole three days so when she could, you would let her explore it, at least she could experience it as a fan, right?
When you made it to that part of the building, you wanted to wait in line with her, which your security didn’t agree to so she texted you when there were about five people ahead of her. She was one of the last in line, with you asking her to be kind, so others would get their chance to be first with whomever it was.
When she texted you and your detailed exit, getting a few stares and others taking their phones out to either take photos or tweet, you wave at them before joining your best friend in line.
“Here,” she says before handing you none other than a black cat mask before she puts on a red wig.
You glare at her slightly trying to not make a scene, before putting it on.
“I’m assuming you're Mary Jane?” you laugh figuring out that it had to be someone from Spider-Man.
“How’d you- never mind.” She laughs with you.
She then explains how she’s going to pose for your five photo ops, joking in between how she should “get a raise for this”.
You catch sight of him before sucking in your breath. This was either going to go down amazingly or terribly, there was no in-between with you.
“Excuse Me, are you Y/n Y/l/n?”
You turn around and are met by some fans who were standing in line behind you.
“I am! How’s your con going?” you ask politely to the two of them.
“It's going amazing! We love you as Thalia! Could we maybe get a picture? Only if it’s okay?”
“Of course! Thank you for supporting me!” your best friend grabs their phone to take the photo, before you take off the mask, and stand between the two fans, and your best friend snaps a few photos.
“Thank you so much! And Are you fans of Tom?”
You start slowly walking back to catch up to the line.
“Yeah, I love him as Spiderman, but I also enjoy his other roles. He's very talented, I'd love to work with him one day!”
“Have you seen him in Uncharted?  We love Him as Nathan drake!”
“I have, he was amazing per usual! How are you two posing with him?”
They show you their innovative pose. You laugh and tell them it's great before you have to wish them goodbye before heading up for your turn for the photo op.
“How do we want to pose- hang on, I recognize you!”
You freeze slightly before your friend mouths for you to flirt. You look down at the mask in your hand before getting into character and saying “Of course you do Spidey, I'm always causing you trouble.” you put on the mask and wink.
He seems slightly stunned, laughing, feeling like he’s seen you somewhere, not only because he found you extremely gorgeous, while in his peripheral vision he sees his brother/ assistant, Harry waving like a madman on the side.
Your friend directs you both through the poses, first, one both him putting “webs” onto you as she looks over his shoulder, the second one, both of you kissing his cheeks, the third, all jumping in the air in your best superhero poses, the fourth one she gets a photo op alone and the last one she gives to you,
“Seriously, who are you?”
“Your Wildest dreams, baby,” you say, taking off the mask.
Your best friend yells “freestyle” from the sidelines before Tom dips you, gently, with you shocked, holding the mask out with your free arm and the photo captures that moment.
He gently helps you stand back up fully, not before you drop the mask.
“Nice moves Spider-Man.”
“Not so bad yourself, Black Cat.”
You laugh before, taking off with your best friend, well more her dragging you to the printing station leaving the mask behind. Tom picks it up before shoving it in his back pocket to hopefully give back if he could find you.
-
`You were sitting in the green room, trending on Twitter before you were actually supposed to be trending on Twitter, and god knows where else.
Someone had snuck a video of you and Tom, up till him dipping you, and a video of you interacting with the fans in the line.
Your Y/b/n was currently reading off some tweets out loud
“‘A kind queen we stan.’  I agree, I also agree with ‘Date her if you can't date me tom!!!’.
‘THALIA AND PETER PARKER??? My two fandoms have collided.’ same, same. Oo this one says, ‘if she ain’t playing black cat I will sue marvel.’ I'm dying at the reply ‘She needs to post the photos or I'll sue her!’. This one’s funny, ‘she could squash him like a bug in heels but he liked his queen like that.’.”
She pauses watching you texting.
“Y/n? Y/n?”
“What? Sorry I was only half listening. I was texting my publicist. She said to stay on the DL until tonight.
“Well we should get food, you haven't eaten since this morning.”
“By the way, your show has shot to number one on Disney +. Also, you have like three times the followers you had before, probably cause you're trending on every platform, even Tumblr!”
“Wow you should just become my social media manager now.” you joke trying to ease the joy yet weirded out feeling in your stomach.
“Does that come with a raise? Because after today I've spent way too much of what I'm paid.” she jokes back.
-
After finishing his photo ops Tom asked Harry who she was and to find out. By the time he finished autographs for the day, Tom and Harry walked to the panel room in the back for announcements, one that included him for the new Avengers movie, while Harry gave him the rundown.
“So she’s an actress, she plays Thalia on Disney plus’ Percy Jackson series, and that's her most known project. The other girl with her is her assistant best friend, and now she's trending everywhere. People dug up some old photos of her being a marvel/Spider-Man fan, so there's that. And she's here at the con for the rest of the weekend. She's doing photo ops tomorrow at one, and yes she's single from what I gather since you were looking at her like this.” he makes a weird face before tom smacks him.
“And plus you have time in your schedule to get a photo op with her, that is if you eat lunch quickly.”
That gave Tom an idea.
“Harry I’m going to need you to book me one, oh and help me find a Spider-Man costume!” He says, before leaving harry to do ‘assistant’ work. entering the green room for the announcements, watching them announce a new movie.
“We are so excited to announce to the Marvel Universe, and spider-verse-” that perked tom’s ears, “-directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, and today we are announcing our amazing Miss Felicia Hardy, please give a warm welcome to the stage, Your Black Cat!”
You suddenly emerged in an aisle way, dressed in all black with a leather jacket, black ankle boots, and of course black sunglasses indoors.
The music is marvel music until it suddenly changes after a recorded laugh from you into “I can’t be tamed by Miley Cyrus”.
You start owning the music while saying hi and touching fans’ hands. You decide to take off your sunglasses and throwing them to a fan, for them to keep, before getting on stage.
“What a Performance from the one the only Y/n Y/l/n!”
You laugh, being met with the loudest applause you had heard all con before being handed a Mic.
“Thank you but I'm a terrible dancer.” You Joke.
Tom was staring at the screen stunned. You had been the black cat all along. You were in the marvel universe and spidey one,  so he'd definitely be seeing more of you. The hard part is that you seemed so genuine when you talked, interacted with fans and was no doubt, stunning.
“Better close your mouth or the flies will get in.” Tom turns around to find the voice of none other than his friend slash bully, Sebastian Stan, along with Anthony Mackie.
“Looks like the kid has a crush!” Anthony laughs, pointing to the screen you were on.
“I-I don’t! I don’t even know her!” Tom tries to come to his own defense, hopelessly.
“She’s got you whipped already don’t even deny it.” Harry comes in, joining the teasing of one, Tom Holland.
“Maybe we can invite her out for drinks tonight, then fanboy over here can meet her, and then probably scare her off!” Anthony mentions.
“You haven’t looked on the internet? They’ve already met.” Seb says, before showing Anthony twitter.
Anthony stands there slightly shocked before bursting into laughter.
“Well, she’s damn well a keeper for Tom since she obviously likes him.”
A staff member peaks their head in the green room to tell Tom he’s up next.
“Well, that’s my cue to leave you two!”
On the other hand, you were on an adrenaline high from being on stage, and seeing all the fans. You knew tomorrow was going to be crazy, as you expected people to book your photo op left and right since the announcement.
You had decided to decline an offer from your fellow marvel universe castmates, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, which they so graciously told you that whenever you’re free, the offer still stood.
You had gotten to your hotel room seeing your phone blowing up on the social media apps for the second time that day.
You responded to the important stuff, before heading to bed, knowing it was going to be hectic.
-
You had been right, it was absolutely insane, the number of people who showed up. You had fully booked all your time slots for photo ops. You had seen so many people dressed up in marvel cosplay, ranging from Loki to Ironman, even some people dressed up as your character, which was wildly insane to see.
You had been nearing the end of the line and had enjoyed every moment with the fans, and you couldn’t wait for your autographing session later that day, to truly get a chance to talk to the fans and connect with them and how they felt about you being their beloved Black Cat.
After a few more photos, posing how they wanted, you see a fully dressed, head to toe, mask and all, Spider-Man. You had seen some spider-mans but most took off their masks to snap a picture. The person was the last in line.
“Hey Black Cat.” The southern American accented voice tells you, seeming very familiar.
“Hey, Spider, what poses do you have up your sleeve?” you ask kindly.
“I bought a few, Cat.” they laugh.
“Okay, You can do whatever a spider can right?” you pull out a line out of the comics jokingly.
“I can do flips if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Is that some kind of nerd pick-up line? Because it’s only kind of working.” you laugh.
“I really can, but this is one.”
He gets down on one knee, holding a black cat mask instead of a ring. The photographer captures the shocked expression on your face.
“I- Don’t- What- Spider I-”
“Ow My feelings…” Suddenly their voice changes into a British accent before they pull off the mask to reveal-
“Tom?”
“I guess you don’t have a spidey sense darling?” The photographer captures the moment without warning eating the moment up.
You laugh at that.
“I guess you found out my true identity Spider. And it’s nice to officially meet you, Tom.”
He laughs, just as nervous as you, he notices he has gotten closer to you and a strand of hair loosely is blowing in your face, so naturally, he pushes it behind your ear. Another snap of the camera can be heard.
“NOW KISS!” a voice belonging to your best friend yells from the side, mid-eating a churro.
You both laugh really hard at that.
The both of you calm down, slowly leaning lost in the moment. The camera snaps again. You both look at the photographer weirded out, and they just shrug.
“Wait can you actually do a flip?” you ask, pulling away, not wanting prying eyes aka the photographer, to pry in your business.
“I can, though I’d show you later, maybe in the greenroom?”
“That sounds naughty, but, sure.” you joke around.
He laughs before, you both take off from the area going to grab the photos.
-
After spending most of the day together when you could, you get Tom’s number, before heading back to your hotel room. He texts you as soon as you get back.
Spider: I had fun today, minus finding our assistants making out.
You: we should ‘snog’ too, it’ll gross them out ;)
You: I had fun too btw. Are you leaving tomorrow?
Spider: lol we should. And yeah an early flight, 6 am to be exact. Hbu?
You: Yeah me too... another day another dollar lol
Spider: ill miss you, Cat.
You: stop talking like we’ll never see each other again lol. As a matter of fact, come to my room, we’re watching a movie!
Spider: alright, I’ll order snacks.
You sigh smiling at your phone. You haven’t felt this giddy in a long time.
Your phone pings with a few Instagram notifications.
Tomholland2013 has started following you.
Tomholland2013 has tagged you in a photo.
You open Instagram to find the photo of him “proposing” to you posted.
“Ow, my leg, my- feelings...Welcome to the Universe, Cat.” the photo is captioned. You decide to post, the photo of him dipping you.
“So what do you say, Spider? Wanna help me pull off the Heist of the Heist of the Century?” you caption it, Before getting comfortable to watch a movie.
What an opportunity ;)

Thank you @otherworldsivelivedin and @you-remind-me-of-the-babe Thanks for the tag!! It's nice to be included in this and get to know more people in the fandom!! :)
Here's mine!!
My three ships: I only really engage in SnowBaz fandom, so my other two picks were just kinda like things I think are cute/ would be into if I wasn't already obsessed.
Snowbaz - I mean, I'm hooked. There's just so much to take from the books and so many options to explore with these two. I've read so many AU's about these two that I believe they could live in any story you want. Or any song. OR movie. Or comic. They love each other so much too, but also there's such a range to their relationship that you can spend eons exploring the depths of their connection. So I think I like that. And the fact that they are so intertwined. I'm obsessed.
Monty and Percy- I love these two. Almost as much as SnowBaz. If I hadn't gotten into the SnowBaz fandom, Monty and Percy are where I would be putting all my time. They're the perfect combo of sweet and hilarious and they have so much adventure!! Can't get enough of these boys.
Geralt/Jaskier- so i keep seeing stuff pop up in my feed about these too, and honestly, I'm here for it. I think they would make a wonderful angry, loud and musical family someday. One can dream at least.
My first ship: i think consciously Marceline and Bubblegum from Adventure Time. I probably had others, but like I don't remember any of that nonsense. But Marcy and Bubblegum are the Simon and Baz of the Candy Kingdom in my opinion. And they deserve to be together. They so perfect together.
My last movie: Encanto ( for the second time) it's so good!! I will say though we were trying to get the toddler to watch Coco or How to train your dragon, but both were "terrifying" (her words not mine)
I'm currently reading:
We Contain Multitudes by Sara Hestra - I can't recommend this one enough. It's so sweet and so heartbreaking. I love the concept and if you listen to the audiobook like I am doing, it adds extra depth I think. But ya. I'm almost done, but not sure what to listen to next. I have a bunch of comics/graphic novels to read. looking forward to them, but audiobooks are just easier for me right now.
I'm currently watching: the Witcher
I'm currently consuming: Seaside Cider- Cherry Lane
I'm currently craving: Filhos ( Portuguese doughnuts) - made by mum. I had one the other night, and I just started thinking about it because of this question.
My favorite color: Blue! the deepest blue in the sky when it's sunny. And hot florescent pink ( like in riso prints... also that dark royal blue colour for riso)
The last song I listened to:
Girls- Girl in Red
Sweet, savory, or spicy: sweet- I am a notorious sweet fiend and it's a problem.
I'm working on: trying to finish my EGF fic Magically Required. I just posted Chapter 5 last night, Chapter 6 is written and waiting to be beta'd. I will say, for the next thing I write definitely going to try and have patience to get it beta'd first- i did i think the first chapters, but everything else has been ... raw? other that me rereading it a million times. Editing is part of me writing. I write until i get stuck then go back and edit until I can think of something new. but yes. Hopefully you all are enjoying it. I know I've been drawing it out ( bit nervous about the smut to come so ... avoidance )
If you've already been tagged sorry! But folks! tell me about yourselves

Review: Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land
Tumblr media
If you were a teenager in the 2010s who listened to alt pop music, you most likely have crossed paths with Marina's music, back when she was FKA Marina and the Diamonds. I first discovered Marina through her sophomore album Electra Heart, which I always thought was a masterpiece of a pop album sonically and conceptually. To this day, that is an album that means a lot to me and helped me through some dark times back in those days.
Since then, I've been obsessed with Marina's discography and there isn't a single album of hers I dislike. The Family Jewels was an excellent debut and really highlighted her creativity. FROOT I maintain was very much underrated and it's probably my second favorite album of hers overall. Love + Fear is... Well, I understand why it's polarizing, considering it is her most commercial-sounding, radio-friendly pop album and probably her weakest in the discography, but there was still something about it that kept me hooked. It was one of my most listened to albums of 2019 because something about the songs, despite them being so basic by Marina's standards, was highly addictive for me.
So when this album was announced, I didn't really know what to expect in terms of her next musical direction. The singles she releases, namely Purge the Poison and Venus Fly Trap, gave me an indication that she was bringing back her signature Family Jewels-era style that is so distinctly her, and for the most part this album did give that quintessential, quirky Marina-ness that I really missed from her.
I reviewed Chromatica sometime last year and in that post I talked about how Gaga sacrificed a lot of her weirdness to adopt a more commercial, generic sound with Chromatica, and I feel like Love + Fear was that for Marina. Like Gaga, Marina is weird, and even though the songs on L+F I thought were enjoyable, they were definitely missing Marina's personality and snark for the most part. I'm pleased that we got to see that side of her come back for this album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land.
Tumblr media
I think Ancient Dreams maintains that energy, because even from the opening title track, you're already taken for a ride. It's such a strong opener and it sets the stage for what the rest of the album is going to be like sonically and thematically. Then she continues with songs like Venus Fly Trap, Man's World and Purge the Poison, and all of these songs consecutively paint quite a clear picture of what she's going for in terms of what the album's about. At least that's what it seems like at first, but then it didn't take me long to notice that this album kind of has a cohesion problem.
(Side note, while I think Purge the Poison is a banger, I always thought the lyrics are kind of like she just Googled "feminism 101" lmao. It's full of a lot of feminist cliches and "daughters of the witches you couldn't burn" energy, but with that said, I can't make the song not bop.)
youtube
Marina is normally the queen of cohesion, but it feels like there's two sides of this album, which is kind of hilarious to think about because she wanted to play with the concept of a two-sided album with Love + Fear that ended up sounding very same-y. In this one, it's supposed to be one continuous body of work with only 10 songs, but there's a clear divide between the themes and the sounds. Somehow the concept of L+F worked better for this album despite it not being her intent. It's like this one should've been called Politics + Heartbreak.
Basically in like the first six songs of this album, she's talking about universal topics like politics, feminism, existentialism, independence, etc. But then in the last four songs, she switches gears abruptly and now we're talking about breakups? So it felt kind of jarring to me that the album had a massive tonal shift not only in the overall theme but also in the sound as well, cause most of these last songs are breakup ballads.
Now around the time that this album came out, I was going through a pretty shitty breakup that broke my heart, so some of these songs did tug at my heart strings and made me feel things. Out of all the random breakup songs tacked on, I think my favorite is I Love You But I Love Me More. This one doesn't really count as a ballad since it's a little more uptempo, but it's probably the one that resonated with me the most and the only one I go back to.
Even though I was able to relate somewhat to these breakup songs and had an emotional reaction to a few of them, the critical side of me still felt a little perplexed by this album's direction. Maybe if the tracklist had been distributed differently and the breakup songs were more spread out, I might've overlooked it, but because those four songs were all clumped together at the end, the abrupt change in tone was extremely noticeable.
The highs of this album are the high energy tracks like Purge the Poison and Venus Fly Trap, where Marina's snarky, quirky personality we fell in love with in The Family Jewels and Electra Heart really show through. The first half of this album shines so well and really grabs you, but unfortunately it's another one of those albums that fizzles by the last few tracks. Hell, I'd even say this album would've worked better as an EP with the last four songs removed. They just didn't fit with the rest of it.
Overall, is this album enjoyable? Yes, there's a lot of songs on here (mostly the ones in the first half) that I go back to all the time, cause this woman is still just really damn good at making music. I don't even think I can say that any of the songs on this album are bad, really, my biggest issue is just that it should've been more thematically clear or cohesive. Usually Marina's really good at that.
If you are a Marina fan then you will love a lot of these songs, the ones that are bursting with her personality. If you've never listened to Marina, then you should probably go through the majority of her discography first before you give this one a shot. Like I said, she's not for everyone.

This is psychology related rather than anime related. My friend recently introduced me to the music of Clarence Clarity and I wondered if you knew it. Because one of his songs is called 'Obsessed With my Shadow Self' and there's a pair of songs he collaborated on with Entrepreneurs called 'Death Tactics' and 'Fuck Tactics'. The connection to Jung with the first seems pretty clear, but the second one also seems like a life/death drive thing, right? (I don't remember much about Jung or Freud - it's been 10 years - and if the life/death drive is a purely Freudian concept not a Jungian one, please forgive me)
HOLA! The truth is we’re all fucked 💀✨
I've never heard of them but they sure have interesting lyrics just from the 3 songs you shared with me. It's refreshing to read lyrics that aren't about bitches and ho's and heartbreak, so thanks for sharing!
As with art, interpretations are always subjective, and even though the lyrics were super cryptic, I found some of the lyrics relatable since I've come face to face with my own death drive before.
Short answer: So yeeees... I totally agree about these death drive themes happening in these songs.
I actually get nerdy 🤓 excited just thinking about it.
Long answer below the cut because God knows I can vomit words:
When you're about to lose it all You've got introspection
I mean... this whole idea of being obsessed with one's shadow self? Like... yes. How cool is that? Mostly because the shadow is mostly available to the conscious mind as a projection of that which we reject.
+ introspection is the way that the shadow self is assimilated.
Death/fuck tactics are interesting because, as a Marketing nerd, I'm always looking at how to implement strategy vs. tactics. So this song almost feels like it's about someone who is haphazardly destroying whatever he doesn't like, sometimes in the cruelest way possible (let it bleed for 50 days).
And all because why? His inner-demons are asking for an offering.
ok so I am having a hard time communicating this in English, Spanish word makes more sense but in English it lacks oomph--think of how the Aztecs offered/sacrificed virgins to their Gods for continued luck with rain, war, etc. Same sentiment.
To me, acting out on one's inner demons means that they asked for an offering in order to be appeased, and the action is the offering itself. But that's just the kind of relationship I have with my inner-demons. Little fuckers I swear...
Ah inner-demons... I personally bounce back and forth between darkest dark and brightest bright with most of my time spent somewhere in the middle. But... idk about you but listening to my inner-demons gets exhausting after a while. I wouldn't want to live forever if I spent most of my time committing acts that feed said demons.
I think you've read my post on my death wish? These songs kind of remind me of that. But instead of self-harm, this person is harming others. We're both acting out the death drive.
I'd add that the difference is that even when I go into my self-destructive hole, I always know I'll come back up, because psychologically, life is a process of ego death and rebirth. This person sounds like they don't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
So these are my thoughts. Curious about yours! It seems like you’ve really liked the songs.
