We all talk a lot about Misty, and how she so desperately desire’s attention and friendship, and I think something that’s really important to this, is her position on the team.

Misty wasn’t a player she was the water girl. Her job was essentially to come to practices, place cones and warm the bench. Beyond wearing the jacket could not get close to any of the girls if she tried. She doesn’t get to be in the locker room, doesn’t get to go out with them after, nothing. No matter how hard she tries shes an outside. She is not part of the team.

But the crash, made her part of the team. The headlines didn’t care if she was the water girl when she is considered one of the last surviving members of the Yellowjackets. The girls don’t care that she’s not a player when she’s the only one who’s keeping them alive. The crash solidified her place as part of the team. It’s why she destroys the black box, why she lies about it to her teammates, and why despite all the attention it would get her she never talks to the press.

Because that would be betraying her team.

I feel like Yellowjackets was originally supposed to be your regular, traditional tv show with predictable characters and cringy heterosexual drama but for some reason it turned into one of the most intense, complex and off-puttingly beautiful tv series about girlhood which has both a super colourful, engaging and 3-dimensional cast of characters AND a wlw couple so well-developed that you could watch a show centred solely around them and it would still be enjoyable! I don't know what the writers offered to the Wilderness but it rewarded them greatly
