#women doing powerful things: exhibit b
Note
Serious question. With the direction of RWBY going doing you think their is some favoritism over the female villains than male villains?
Exhibit A: Adam and Ironwood treated badly even though they have justified motives.
Adam being an extremist with how mistreatment of Fanus, being a product of child slavery by a white privilege company, and joined WF that is equivalent to any modern radical group fighting for rights (Black Panthers). Got reduce to "crazy stalker bf, disregarded his fellow fanus comrades, became power hungry for no reason, and what he was suppose to be got dumped on Ilia".
Ironwood a dignified and selfless military leader. Willing to help team RWBY with anything, risked his life to evacuated the citizens when Becaon got under attack, and gave team RWBY extra training with a senior group that put his trust in him and vice versa. Got reduce to a "liar, manipulator, disingenuous, child shooter" even though he gave RWBY man signs to put his trust on him and the situation in Mantel could've ended differently.
Exhibit B: (Bit bias cause I really hate Cinder and wish the worse for her and I hope you get betrayed by Salem). When compare to Salem, Neo, and Cinder.
Salem the first women with magic and was locked in a tower Rapunzel style. Barging with the brothers to resurrected Ozpin and discovered the see humans as playthings and wanted to change the cycle. Started to get a little power hungry and when she found out Ozpin betrayed she tried to kill him AND ALSO KILLED HER DAUGHTERS WITH NO REMORSE. Responsible for the destruction of Mantel and Beacon and the deaths of civilians. Torture and manipulate Cinder to do her bidding knowing Cinder is disposable. Uses people with Silver Eyes as weapons.
Cinder a product of child slavery and trafficking. Abuse by her elder sisters and mother. Eventually killed out of revenge and killed her mentor and the only person that cared for her. Threatened Adam to join Salem or else she killed the Fanus. Was responsible for the death of Penny TWICE. Throws a tantrum when things don't do her way and gets owned by Watts. Betrays Neo to get the lamp to get her praise by Salem when next volume Salwm will torture her again for her handling of Mantle.
Neo is the partner in crime with Roman. Manipulate by Cinder to kill Ruby when in reality Cinder is really at fault since she hired them. Emotionally Manipulates Ruby in her weakest state to commit sucide and use her deceased friends to her advantage. Realize that her whole goal of revenge is pointless and she never think this through. Get used as a puppet by the cat forcing her to talk. Gets her happy ending and stay in wonderland.
Tell me out of the two groups who gets love by the fandom and which gets hate?
I just think that RT is bad at writing for this show-
Long Post Ahead
For the writer's side on this, it's clear that they simply do not know how to process the nuances of morally gray characters like Ironwood, that's why he was straight up villainized by them. As for Adam, it's just because they're racist. That's it.
The nuances of both of these characters were beyond the scope of understanding that CRWBY were willing to explore, or else they will be confronted with the fact that they're racist as fuck, and their stupid fucking pride about being rightfully criticized prevents this show from actually improving. People wanted Blake and Ruby to talk? Ham-fist it in. People want the criticism about how the world of Remnant was written to be heard? Let's have this cat character mock them via sarcastic inquiries about said critiques on said world.
As for the FNDM? Yeah, there is a blatant disconnect when it comes to atrocities committed by female villains versus male villains in the fans to the point that it treks into full-on bigotry at times.
This isn't to say that the writers didn't fuck up on both, oh no. Salem is a boring ass main villain, James got fucked over, Cinder is a nuisance, and Adam got butchered. All of their villains aside from Tyrian and Watts suck ass, and Watts also got killed off! By Cinder!
But the FNDM has a habit of disregarding abuse when it's a male character being abused by his female confidante (Ozma, Sun, Ren, and Whitley), but are willing to completely demonize a morally gray male character like James in V7 when he would not agree with Ruby's plan. WHICH IS COMPLETELY FINE IN A WRITING STAND POINT.
The RWBY FNDM, to me, has been dragged along by a shitty lie made by RT that "this show is a feminist show because it has female main characters" and are now desperately trying to keep up that lie themselves, even though RWBY has stopped being about the girls for a while now. There is no passion behind their characters, it's all for Jaune. But admitting that will mean admitting RWBY is bad and not feminist, so they lash out at people who rightfully criticize the show and demonize the characters they don't like despite their reasons being stupid as hell.
I've seen people making ableist fucking comments to James, denying that Adam was a slave, and calling Ozpin a groomer. These same people would woobify Cinder, Salem or Neo all the while, even though all of these characters has all done terrible things to our protagonists. Keep up the same energy for both or stfu.
Sorry for the rant. This is just a topic that I really despise because people would act like rabid hyenas, which will turn into harassment which is something I do not want on my blog. But yeah, there is a favortism towards the female villains by the FNDM, but CRWBY hates all of their characters aside from Jaune equally.

This interview has essentially revealed the bias persisting since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza and perhaps for years – the strong Western media bias towards the Israeli narrative. This interview exploded because we succeeded in presenting the strength of Palestinian narrative and the painful truth that cannot be ignored or erased. This stems from the power of the Palestinian cause’s justice, which alarmed her remarkably.
However, she revealed three things:
An inability to hear the truth as witnessed in a previous BBC interview where they cut the broadcast completely to avoid hearing the facts about the massacres committed b Israel.
Secondly, she displayed a racist element resorting to discussions about women and exhibiting deep ignorance in this area. Because anyone knows Mr.Mustafa Al Barghouti well knows that he is one of the biggest advocates for women’s rights in general. This is a serious racist comment, assuming that all Arabs, Muslims, and Palestinians do not respect women.
Thirdly, she demonstrated absolute unprofessionalism. No one in the world can conduct an interview in this manner.
she’s now in a problem of her own. She isolated herself and now there is an international campaign as understood, demanding for her dismissal with complaint with the British Journalist’s union about her unprofessional and utterly unacceptable behavior.
I interpret her explosion as a result of provocation due to her failure to cover the Palestinian narrative and the justice of the Palestinian cause, a fantastic reaction expanding globally. In my opinion, this interview has won us more international public opinion than hundreds of other interviews because it clearly exposed the bias of this type of Western media towards Israel. Extreme racism against Palestinians became evident making.

Hot Takes From Troll Accounts - re: Breaking Bad and the MSM's General Influence on Populous Beliefs/Behaviors
Exhibit A) absurdly-“useful”
Tumblr media
Except mainstream anything has an immediate influence on the masses hence why electing a pro Nazi rapist to office was fucking BAD for the population and the safety for women, POC, queer folk, and people with disabilities… ya goofy misdirecting troll account see you next tuesday. 😂
Tumblr media
Exhibit B) wackweeder, grimeclown, and cactusseeds
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, to answer your question - grimeclown. But that’s kinda not really the focus.
*eyes rolling at cactusseeds* - tell me you work for media without telling me you work for media.
For wackweeder - you say “media illiterate” like that’s a bad thing. Lmfao. I prefer to put my limited time in reading published studies, reading historical books, interacting with people who value educational content (not you), taking STEM classes, and beating my ass up in fitness arenas than working on my “media literacy.” I have all my social media feeds to tell me shit I don’t care about in relation to mainstream television now, anyway. It’s not like I get to bury my head away from any of it as much as I would love to. But why the hell would I want to watch brain rot with what limited time I have on this planet. I rhetorically ask. Here’s the key response to your overall population influence illiteracy - media influences everything including drug usage. This is why most developed governments are so sensitive about tobacco and alcohol ads in the presence of children. It doesn’t generally matter how the shit is portrayed. If it did then Nancy Reagan’s “War on Drugs” TV specials would’ve had some positive effect on the masses. Hint… it didn’t.
https://academic.oup.com/alcalc/article/44/3/229/178279
Now - you can go ahead and make the argument that BB the show, itself, could’ve turned people away from using because there are zero studies to counter that argument but that’s disingenuous claim to make at best. Personally, I feel more comfortable looking at all the other numerous studies looking at drug and alcohol usage influenced through media, in general, and applying that data to the picture at hand because that is a rational thing to do.
For a lay example - why don’t news outlets publish suicide rates? Because it increases suicide. Just because it looks bad in the broad scheme doesn’t mean it has none or an anti-influence. That’s not how this works. I can think of other media influencing mob behavior: Flash mobs. The increase of street takeovers in a post Fast and Furious world. How little girls think they need to look like some twig on the runway. How little boys think they have to hide their emotions because the machismo men on their favorite shows do so. How Bhutan’s GNH (presumably - the documentation has all but vanished from online sources I had read from in the aughts - shoulda saved it back in the day…) fell after the introduction of Western Media. And so on…
People are easily influenced, man. They teach in journalism school (yes, I went) the average American reading and comprehension level is at the equivalent of the third grade. When you see mofos out there believing Q-Anon conspiracies without second guessing you know that fact isn’t far off. We’re not anywhere near as evolved a you want to believe.
Exhibit C) roadkillbuffet
Tumblr media
I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not but Breaking Bad was not the first gay kiss on television…
But also… if the comment isn’t sarcasm or a troll then - “but Breaking Bad was the first gay kiss on tv therefore if you’re calling a meth based television show out you are homophobic” - is a piss poor argument to make for the queer community. Of which I am in, btw.
If that were actually true and BB was the first show to validate queer relationships then how homophobic is Hollywood to take that first dive into validating queer lives in a show about meth? I’m going to guess this is a sarcasm response though. No one can be that off base… can they?
Exhibit D) "I can't read this" Cool. Go back to your basic memes.

Why there's actually NO love triangle in Inuyasha (looking at the story from an eastern perspective)
So, this is going to be one of my long posts - bear with me!
I see a lot of debate about Kikyo vs Kagome, and I wanted to share some thoughts on the love triangle aspect of Inuaysha. Although I am white British (originally American), I was raised with an Indian religion – and despite leaving it about 20 years ago, it never fully leaves your system. And I really think you really need to look at Inuyasha from an eastern perspective to understand the Kikyo / Kagome thing.
So, let’s first look at why I personally had such a problem with Kikyo in the beginning – and then we’ll look at why we have to see her in a different way.
Tumblr media
I have two problems with Kikyo. The first is that she was a high priestess of the village, known to be so powerful that she was entrusted to purify the shikon jewel, and so forth. She dealt with demons on a daily basis. She knew better than most that they often took on dual forms and they were deceitful. And yet the instant ‘Inuyasha’ attacked her, she didn’t so much as blink at it. She accepted his betrayal without hesitation – which tells me she never truly trusted or loved him.
Exhibit B – her proposal to use the crystal on him, to make him fully human. Essentially, this would have eradicated the world of one more demon – she was slaying him under the guise of love. It was a means to de-claw him, which to me is symbolic of stripping away all his passion and strength - everything that makes him him. He would have been tamed and weakened and in her hands. It’s pretty realistic, because a lot of women fall for the ‘bad boy’ and then work hard to domesticate him until he is unrecognisable. I just don’t like it.
So, to my mind, Kikyo didn’t really love him. She didn’t accept him for what / who he was. He was fatherless, his mother died when he was young, and he had to look after himself in a cruel world of bullies and bigots. He naively fell for the first suggestion of kindness because it was the first he ever had of it – but it wasn’t sincere.
She sealed him to the Tree of Ages and the world moved on, while he remained frozen in an older time. I see this as metaphor for Inuyasha being emotionally and mentally stuck, unable to move forward from his trauma. This is why (apart from just being a demon) he doesn’t age. Kaede is an old woman and he’s still the young naïve reckless kid in desperate need of love and acceptance, unable to grow.
Tumblr media
But Kikyo never grew either. She died and sealed away the crystal in her grave, freezing the whole moment in time. She still had lessons to learn – they both did. And this is what leads us to Kagome. She is drawn back to Inuyasha because they have unfinished business from a previous lifetime.
When Kikyo is first resurrected, her soul is removed from Kagome’s body and returned to its former body, Kikyo. But this is not how it should be – that soul is ready to move forward. It’s had time to learn lessons. In fact, an interesting question would be: what was that soul doing for nearly 500 years? Because it had to have gone through other incarnations between the feudal period and modern Tokyo. In that time, Inuyasha remained stuck in one moment, unable to grow, while his lover’s soul reincarnated again and again and learned the lessons it needed to learn in order to go back and resolve this matter.
So Kagome drags her soul back into her modern body – but leaves one crucial piece behind in Kikyo’s resurrected body: her hatred / anger. Kikyo is then a walking body of rage. Symbolically, we are seeing the soul (now in Kagome) leaving the past in the past and wishing to move forward, without the anger it held onto for so long. The anger then gradually becomes purified, we could say, through the infusion of other dead souls mixed in to keep Kikyo’s body alive a while longer. She gains the experience of other souls, to heal that anger so that it no longer lingers in the world.
However, as long as Kikyo is present, Inuyasha cannot move forward. It isn't so much about her as an individual - because we have to remember she's already there as Kagome. Kikyo's presence is a symbol of the guilt and anger Inuyasha needs to let go of. He is still emotionally stuck to the tree.
Kagome has had other incarnations to teach her the wisdom of letting go of those emotions. Her special innate skill seems to be healing – as Kikyo, she was a healer, but now she is even more so. The very birds flock to her. She is also a seer. She sees not just the shikon shards but into people’s hearts. She can read the emotions in their faces. She sees their vulnerability, and their worth, underneath all their bravado and anger. Her kindness touches people. She might struggle with algebra, but she has innate wisdom from lifetimes of experience. She is an old soul. In many ways, although Inuyasha is 200 years old, she is at least 500 and therefore older, despite appearing younger. This works in a way that ‘Twilight’ never did, because of the reincarnation angle.
Tumblr media
Kagome is patient – she’s been patient for 500 years, after all – and continues to be there, waiting for Inuyasha to let go of the past, symbolised by the phantom of Kikyo.
This is not really a love triangle – Kikyo and Kagome are the same person. Kagome learns to realise this. At one point, she finds herself in Kikyo's memories of the day she was killed, and Kagome even yells at Kikyo something to the effect of, 'That's not him! He would never do that! Why can't you see it!?' This is her remembering her own past life and reflecting on how blind she once was. But not anymore - she has learned, and she is a seer.
Kikyo is not a threat. She is a figment of the past, and both Inuyasha and Kagome need to let that past go. This is symbolised when Kagome is tested and held over the cliff by a fake Kikyo, and Kagome has to let go of her hand and declares that she doesn’t need to worry about her – she is enough in herself.
Inuyasha finally comes to see that it’s time to move forward. This is him overcoming trauma, pain and anger. He doesn't simply move on with Kagome once Kikyo dies for good - this is him releasing himself from the past and moving forward with the same lover, but in her older, wiser form. This is the moment that the anger dies. All that matters about Kikyo lives on as Kagome. He isn't choosing one over the other, because there is only one woman.
By the end, when Inuyasha has faced his demons (Naraku and more), he is a whole person and finally able to embrace true love. Kagome, as well, in all these incarnations has learned to accept and love for real. She doesn’t want to de-claw him anymore. She never wants him to go full human, but also doesn’t want him to go full demon – because it is vital that we find balance between our animal and civilized sides. It’s a Buddhist notion, this treading the middle path. Inuyasha is the ‘perfect man’ (I mean that as the western magical term), in the sense that he is equal parts beast and human / instinct and intellect. Neither aspect overwhelms the other – and Kagome is the one who teaches him how to walk this path and be whole.
Kagome gives Inuyasha the acceptance he needs to love himself and therefore love her and see love in others. At the end, when he declares to the demons in the crystal that he was born to meet her and she was born to meet him, he doesn’t just mean as Kagome – he means first as Kikyo and now as Kagome. Their karma is entangled. They have been on this path for 50 years (for him) / 500 years (for her). They share a thread of fate. However, it wasn’t their time, 50 years ago. Neither of them was in the right mental place for it to work, yet. And so it was all put on pause, allowing her time to grow, learn, and come back and teach him what she learned along the way, through all those lifetimes of experience, so that they could both grow together and finally be together. I even like to think that now he might begin to age, because he is no longer emotionally stuck to that tree.
When Kagome’s mother so quickly accepts that it’s time for Kagome to leave forever, this is such an eastern viewpoint, as well. Growing up on the location of a shrine, she clearly understands that this is not really her daughter – this is an old soul who incarnated as her daughter in this particular lifetime, and it is now her time to go back and do what she was born to do. She doesn’t belong to her mother. She was on loan, so to speak.
The ending reminded me so much of a novel I’ve read a few times called 'Mipam' by a Tibetan lama named Lama Yongden. It’s quite an interesting story, again about a romantic couple and their fate throughout incarnations.
So Kikyo is bothersome – but it’s because she is the immature form of Kagome before the benefit of 500 years’ worth of lives / experience. As a soul, she learned love along the way, to the point of becoming someone who can love nearly anyone and anything. Kagome forgives so much – including Sesshomaru and Kouga, who are rather abominable, if you think about their beginnings in the story. I see Kagome as a bodhisattva (another Buddhist concept), choosing to incarnate even when she no longer has to, in order to pass on her wisdom to others and teach everyone the path of love. And in true bodhisattva fashion, she isn’t really aware of it during this lifetime – she is humility.
So there you have it – a love triangle…but between two people! Inuyasha never chose one woman over the other, because they are the same - you can’t have Kagome without Kikyo. Kikyo struggles with it because she knows that part of herself will be gone forever (the anger). Kagome struggles with it because anger is hard to release, and yet she just wants it gone already! But they are not distinct characters, if seen from an eastern philosophical perspective - which we have to do, because the foundation of the story is that Kagome is Kikyo’s reincarnation.
That perspective is essential to understanding what’s happening, who they both are, and the ending / the path everyone takes. Inuyasha has that revelation by the end and accepts that she will return to him because they have been on this path for so long, and been separated before – by death, no less – and she still came back to him.
And when Kagome dies, I can only imagine he will wait for her to return to him in some other form, or he will die too and join her somewhere - because they were not simply born for each other as Inuyasha and Kagome but as their two souls underneath those physical forms.

Mephisto body-jumping theory.
Mephisto's character plans the entire plot of the blue exorcist manga. He is the ringmaster of the timeline, orchestrating events to try and stop Satan and Lucifer from ending the world...
What lengths would Mephisto go to to see that happen?
Well, Mephisto is a demon...
He has no issue manipulating other people to keep his plans moving forward. He generally lacks empathy towards individuals and is willing to sacrifice the one to save the many.
Preserving Assiah is his main objective; he wants to continue living within the realm of humans and toy with them, enjoying his own human body and all the pleasures that go along with it. To do that, he must maintain a delicate balance between good and evil.
Mephisto is all about balance, and he's constantly challenging people, running timeline experiments and tipping the scales back and forth to see how evil he can or can't be in his plans to keep the world right on spinning.
In some cases, Mephisto has gone to some fucking dark places to make his plans succeed.
He's sacrificed his own children (Abel) and possessed people (Shiro), forcing them to do things. Some humans will trust him outright (Rin), and he doesn't need to manipulate them, but other humans are hateful or fearful of demons (Yukio), and Mephisto needs to devise other plans. Sometimes Mephisto possesses people to move other humans around on his Assiah-sized chessboard.
But is Mephisto evil?
Fucking right he is...but at least he's on our side.
He's possessed people without consent. He body-jumps!
When a demon possesses a human, the human doesn't know what's happening and can suffer from either partial or full memory loss. Mephisto is just like any other demon and can probably inhabit two bodies simultaneously. It's especially effective if the bodies have been acclimated to him and his powers, such as humans he's forged a demon contract with (establishing a power couple situation) or when he passes his power and DNA to his children.
So...the question is.
When was Mephisto Pheles body jumping in the blue exorcist Manga? Why did he do it, and to whom?
We have many clues, and I'm going to run them down.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Exhibit A
Mephisto possesses Shiro to Tease Rin.
It happens right in chapter #1, folks.
In flashback, we've seen that Mephisto and Shiro formed a demon contract. The terms of the contract allowed Shiro to become a powerful exorcist with power, prestige and beautiful women. In return, Shiro works as Mephisto's personal bodyguard. In actuality, Shiro is also a spare body Mephisto can use to preserve his own. Mephisto powers up Shiro with his magic and makes him stronger.
Here, in the images below, Mephisto mocks Rin by repeating a saying he teased him with while inhabiting Shiro's body. Does Rin figure it out? I think he does and it freaks him out!
Tumblr media
In the second example, Mephisto teaches Rin how to knot his tie...as Shiro.
Tumblr media
Exhibit B
Mephisto possessed Shura to manipulate Yukio
Yukio doesn't trust demons. He especially doesn't trust Mephisto.
Rin will listen to Mephisto, but Yukio never will.
Tumblr media
Mephisto needs to find another way to manipulate Yukio, and he uses Shura's body to do it. He gifts Shura a scabbard imbued with his power. Mephisto's scabbards, like his swords, are things that can be possessed with his power. Shura always keeps her sword next to her and now keeps Mephisto next to her as well. (even though Shura would never agree to a contract with Mephisto) Mephisto possesses Shura through the scabbard sneakily, and she becomes his new Shiro without even knowing.
Yukio has complex feelings for Shura. He's always been competitive with her and secretly attracted to her. But Yukio also hates the fact that she is innately stronger than he is due to her demonic heritage. Yukio has a big chip on the shoulder about being a mere human, and it shows.
Yukio will do anything to impress Shura and be strong in front of her. He hates it when she calls him a four-eyed crybaby, and Mephisto uses that to his advantage.
Mephisto uses Shura's likeness to get Yukio to do things.
He possesses Shura to convince Yukio to lead the sniper team with the Armumahel gun. Is it just me, or has Kato drawn her with little "devil horns" in her hair? Is that the hidden clue that Mephisto is in control?
Tumblr media
Shura is also the closest thing to family Yukio has other than Rin. He knows that Shura always has had his back and protected him since he was a child, and therefore Yukio trusts her. If Shura tells him something he believes her. And despite the fact that they don't get along at all, they still confide in each other. Mephisto uses this to his advantage too. As Shura, he tells Yukio a story about their mother (not an entirely accurate story, but one from Mephisto's many timelines.) When Rin goes back in time, you can see it ain't quite the same story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He manipulates Shura's body and makes her say these things. Including the pervy Santa stuff. "Shall Santa give you a present?" That's about as Mephisto as you're going to get. Mephisto uses this story to push Yukio over the edge and sends him to the Illuminati to better understand the enemy and his own strengths. This is also the catalyst that convinces Rin to learn about Satan and his birth.
Exhibit C
Mephisto lends his power to Shiro wielding the Koma sword.
We see this in Chapter 116, part 2. Shiro, once again doing the dirty work for his demon master.
Tumblr media
But that's not entirely accurate. Mephisto might not be using his human body, but he's with Shiro the entire time..or is in Shiro. He's partially possessing two bodies at the same time.
Yet, Mephisto has used up so much of his power to bind DemonRin's heart that he had to abandon Abel Franken (his son) to do it. Mephisto was also giving his strength and power to the paladin. But when Abel wasn't strong enough to defeat Rin, Mephisto was forced to sacrifice Abel. He in turn threw all of his power into Shiro, who was the stronger exorcist.
He sacrifices the one to save the many....even his own son.
(That's pretty evil in my books...but he goes even lower than that..and I'm going to get to it shortly.)
(Does Mephisto feel remorse? If he does...he doesn't show it.)
CLUES...
Mephisto has this blank face twice in this chapter, a face with no features. A soulless body.....I've never seen this before in any of the chapters. That's because Kato is trying to tell us something in a sneaky way. Mephisto lent his power to Shiro and body jumped. When Shiro uses the Koma sword, Mephisto is reinforcing him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exhibit D
During the Final Battle as Neuhaus
Mephisto is jumping from Shura into Neuhaus. Mephisto is strangely absent this entire time. (He's sleeping...only he isn't...just his body is.)
Yukio is trying to get the gun away from Neuhaus and punches him. He says revenge isn't a good enough reason to fire the gun. Only he isn't punching Neuhaus. He's punching Mephisto. But how can Neuhaus be an acceptable vessel for Meph to possess?
He's obviously another one of Mephisto's kids.
He has a German last name, green eyes like a Mephisto, and a penchant for reanimating the dead. Mephisto is kin to death. It makes perfect sense.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's the "How-ever.." that's the clue here....and that sneaky Mephisto eye.
Tumblr media
Exhibit E
Mephisto steals Satan's girlfriend....and Shiro's girlfriend...
This is the big bad evil, the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. Mephisto uses Shiro's body to seduce Yuri.
Tumblr media
Did Shiro remember having sex with Yuri...sort of...but not really? He can't quite remember because Mephisto was in control at the time. Shiro automatically thinks Rin and Yukio are Satan's kids, not his own Shiro is overtaken by revenge and sets out to get the Koma sword to kill Satan's kids.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why did Mephisto do this?
Revenge on Satan....
And to teach Shiro a lesson....
And both reasons were garbage....
Tumblr media
Because he acted out of revenge like Shiro...Mephisto went too far.
His balance between good and evil shifted to evil.
And poor innocent Yuri was collateral damage.
Satan humiliated Mephisto and called him a fool. Mephisto wasn't going to let that shit go unpunished. For revenge, Mephisto decided to take away the only thing that Satan had ever loved. That was Yuri Egin.
Mephisto: "I will fuck your girlfriend, and our kids will kill you."
That's some vengeful shit.
So Mephisto seduces Yuri while controlling Shiro and sets the entire sordid tale in motion. It's a dirty Faustian act.
But Mephisto did get results. He tells Shiro that results are all that matters. The results were two children that could be the future superweapons to save Assiah from Satan.
But did Mephisto feel guilty for sacrificing Yuri?
YES, HE DID.
BIG TIME
Tumblr media
Right up until the end, he decided to try and save her. But Shemihaza killed Yuri, regardless, because it was her responsibility to right a past wrong. (Yuri was her child with Amaimon...and Shemihaza was probably told to destroy her at birth but didn't.) If Shemihaza hadn't killed Yuri, Mephisto wouldn't have had the guts to do it. Even in the end, he tries to condemn Yuri as a witch. But I wonder about all of it. Did Shiro, Mephisto and Satan all fall in love with Yuri? But they lost her because of revenge?
Mephisto did it...but he can't really justify it.
Yuri didn't deserve to die.
And he realizes he crossed a line.
Now..the next question is...will Mephisto face some sort of punishment for allowing his balance to falter?

why do you ship chell and glados if glados is basically her mom
Okay this is actually a pretty common misconception in the fandom that unfortunately a lot of people have taken as canon, but I’m feeling nice so I’ll answer your question.
Basically, anon is referencing a theory from around 2012 that Caroline is Chell’s mom. The evidence for the theory is as follows:
- The turret opera calls Chell “bambina”, which means “little girl” in Italian
- Chell’s name can be found on a Bring Your Daughter To Work Day science project
- GLaDOS references the possibility of Chell being adopted multiple times
- GLaDOS is significantly nicer to Chell after discovering she’s Caroline
And, anon, you’re right, it does sound like a pretty good argument at first glance. The problem is that a lot of these points don’t actually hold up to scrutiny.
For example, although “bambina” literally translates to “little girl,” it’s often used in the same way “baby girl” is used in English - it can mean child, but contextually it’s usually a flirtatious term. (Source: Cambridge Dictionary)
Tumblr media
For Chell’s science project, it doesn’t work as evidence for the theory because GLaDOS killed the scientists around 1998-ish, when Caroline had presumably been uploaded several years earlier and Cave was already dead. Also, Chell’s in her 20′s, and since we know from Lab Rat/Portal 2 that people don’t age in stasis, and that Doug put Chell at the top of the test subject list only weeks after the takeover, Chell was 28 at the time of the takeover. The science project is really only an Easter egg and doesn’t actually fit into the canon timeline let alone prove anything about Caroline and Cave.
GLaDOS talking about Chell being adopted is a pretty strong point, I’ll admit, but also it’s important to remember that maybe half of what GLaDOS says is true. And even if we take what she says at face value, she also says there’s a man and a woman in stasis with Chell’s last name, which could not have been Cave and Caroline because they were already dead at that point. And the official book Final Hours Of Portal 2 confirms Cave and Caroline were not married and could not have shared the same name anyway. It was also the 50′s, an an unmarried couple of two likely famous people having a child would’ve been scandalous, and yet we see no hint of something like this affecting their company.
Also, although GLaDOS is nicer to Chell after the Caroline reveal, that’s not necessarily indicative of a mother-daughter relationship, and neither is any of their interactions. It’s just. GLaDOS being friendlier.
Finally, when this theory was made (and let’s be honest - it still is happening) Chell was constantly whitewashed to hell and back.
Chell is Japanese-Brazilian, and Cave and Caroline are white, so it would be a near impossibility for her to be their biological child (and insisting otherwise is kinda. just. whitewashing). And although people will cry “adoption!”, based on what I’ve previously proven, that’s pretty much impossible. This theory that somehow she’s Cave and Caroline’s daughter erases an important part of her identity. [Disclaimer, I am white, but this is what I’ve heard from around the fandom]
With all that said, the idea that she’s the daughter of Cave and Caroline really doesn’t hold weight when you really analyze the canon. It’s surface level analysis that doesn’t hold up. And honestly? The idea kinda cheapens the story. It’s much more powerful that GLaDOS learns to care about Chell and becomes kinder than just. Oh, she remembered she’s related to Chell.
But to actually answer your ask.
Why do I ship them?
Well, they aren’t mother and daughter, I think that’s pretty obvious now. But if you actually look at a lot of subtext in Portal 2, without the lens of the mother theory, it’s actually pretty romantic!
I know that sounds ridiculous, but bear with me!
Now - it’s totally okay if you don’t ship them. I get it. Their interactions in Portal 1 and the first half of Portal 2 are toxic if not outright well. Y’know. Murderous. I completely understand why that turns people off from shipping them, and ultimately, shipping is a personal thing. To each his own.
But before you judge me, let me present my case.
Exhibit A: Portal
Portal is kinda gay. No, really. Chell and GLaDOS are enemies in this game, but the entire focus is on their relationship (good or not) and the power struggle between them. They are opposites, two sides of the same coin, different representations of opposite ideologies. People have analyzed Portal as a relationship metaphor, or as a metaphor about women’s role in society - either way, the heart of Portal is the complicated dynamic between Chell and GLaDOS.
That’s not necessarily enough to code a romance, but a lot of popular (and especially popular queer ones) ships begin with opposite ideologies, symbolic powers colliding. Portal cements their relationship as a toxic one, something on the verge of falling apart and hurting both parties in the end. The ending image, of Chell and GLaDOS side by side after the battle, reinforces the symbolic parallels between the two.
Tumblr media
The companion cube is also pretty symbolically important to this interpretation. It’s literally a representation of someone’s heart, and you are told to protect it and preserve it under GLaDOS’ orders, and then you have to destroy it regardless of how you actually feel about doing that. You are destroying GLaDOS’ heart, so to speak.
Tumblr media
There’s also the ending song, Still Alive. The lyrics speak for themselves.
Tumblr media
They hint that GLaDOS’ feelings about Chell are more complicated than they may appear (if she’s not being sarcastic...) and she literally talks about Chell breaking her heart (also, think back to the companion cube. Yeah.). The entire song is structurally similar to many a breakup number, with the laments of “I’m glad it happened, but also leave.”
At the end, we also see that the long promised cake GLaDOS was supposedly lying about was real the whole time. Before Portal 2 came out, it was mostly interpreted as a stinger ending (along with the nicer lyrics of Still Alive) to make you question GLaDOS’ true motives and intentions.
Tumblr media
She actually did have a real cake waiting for you. (Side note - not really evidence, but in Argentina, “torta” means cake in Spanish. It’s also a slang term for lesbians. So. Do with that what you will). The cake is what GLaDOS offers you to lull you into the sense that she cares about you, so discovering that “the cake is a lie” wakes you up to the realization that she doesn’t. Except then the idea is subverted one last time, at the very end, showing that the cake is real and at least some of what she said she meant.
You also see the companion cube. You know, GLaDOS’ symbolic heart?
Now, okay, you might be thinking I’m extrapolating a bit too much. And you might be right. But Portal is not the only game in the series, and if you’re asking me about Cave and Caroline you obviously know about Portal 2.
Exhibit B: Portal 2
If you thought Portal was gay, Portal 2 turns that up to 11.
Even before GLaDOS wakes up, you’re treated to some visual subtext. A few of Rattmann’s drawings representing the events of Portal 2 focus a lot on the relationship between GLaDOS and Chell, with more of the cake symbolism.
Tumblr media
In this, you can see a face layered on top of GLaDOS. This could be foreshadowing about Caroline, and likely is, but also resembles his other drawing of Chell. It insists that Chell is a part of GLaDOS, or reinforces parallels between Chell and Caroline, hinting at something either way.
Tumblr media
In this picture, we also see Chell standing on top of GLaDOS, in the same position where the overlay of the feminine face was, again referencing the parallel. It also presents them as opposites, fundamental parts of the same thing and both connected to the same basis, but on opposing sides.
When GLaDOS wakes up, she returns to her antagonistic role, but there are more hints to something deeper just like in Portal.
Tumblr media
Here, in her awakening lines, she references Chell not unlike an estranged ex. Also worth noting that GLaDOS is pretty much the personification of testing (in a sense, she is testing since she can control all of Aperture like an extension of her body), and insinuates that Chell loves to test. And that she reciprocates that feeling.
In test chamber 10, she says this:
Tumblr media
It’s supposed to be threatening, but it does read as almost... sentimental.
There’s also another chamber with companion cubes in Portal 2. I already talked about their symbolism in Portal, and the same pretty much applies to them here. However, GLaDOS says something interesting about them during this level:
Tumblr media
Once again, meant to be intimidating, ends up coming off as “well, GLaDOS, why were you going to give Chell a heart shaped representation of yourself that says ‘I love you?’” And you might think I’m stretching the GLaDOS’ heart metaphor thing a little far here, and I might agree, if the companion cubes didn’t literally sing Cara Mia for you.
Cara Mia is the turret opera from the end of the game, which is all about how much GLaDOS cares about Chell. More on that later. But the companion cubes play a song called Love as A Construct, and when you get close to them, they sing a specific part of the song that has the tune of Cara Mia. These things literally exist to sing about GLaDOS’ feelings.
Which makes this line a lot more. For lack of a better term. Tsundere-ish.
Tumblr media
Then, right before the escape, she starts talking about the confetti from her fake surprise.
Tumblr media
I really don’t have to explain this one. What else does GLaDOS consider an inconvenience but might miss anyway? Or, more aptly, who else?
Then, during the escape, she teases a (fake) final test chamber in front of you, and forms the panels in the shape of a heart. No, really.
Tumblr media
Up to this point, a lot of the points I’ve presented are interspersed with a fair amount of antagonization on GLaDOS’ behalf, more Foe Yay than anything actually hinting at something deeper than GLaDOS being conflicted about whether she loves or hates Chell. But things really ramp up after Wheatley’s betrayal, when the two of them are forced to team up. (I should also note here that “enemies to lovers” is a pretty classic queer romance trope.)
Here, GLaDOS is put on an equal level with Chell and they have to rely on each other if they want to survive. For the rest of the singleplayer campaign, GLaDOS becomes a lot nicer and even friendly to Chell. There comes a point where she starts referring to Chell as a teammate, calling them “we.” She begins to consider them one unit, two opposites unified. Here’s what she says after the lemon rant:
Tumblr media
You can not only see her using we, but actively talking about how her and Chell are going to fight Wheatley together. There’s also that last line - “let’s explode with some dignity.” GLaDOS has fully accepted the very likely possibility that she and Chell might die together. That she might die on the same level, and the same team as Chell. And she seems... surprisingly okay with that, as long as she and Chell go together.
It’s during the Old Aperture levels that Chell and GLaDOS also discover that they have a lot in common. This is the part of the game where GLaDOS figures out she’s Caroline, that she’s human. Or, that she’s like Chell. And Chell discovers (from what we can tell anyway) that Caroline is kind, that she’s funny and smart and so many of these things she never noticed about GLaDOS before. Now also with the knowledge she is fighting alongside another human being.
You can also draw parallels between Chell and Caroline, both intelligent women ultimately betrayed by their seemingly innocuous male friends before being trapped in Aperture and forced to team up with one another in a way that will free both of them. We see that really, GLaDOS isn’t that different from Chell - she too has been imprisoned in this place against her will, but in a completely different way. Once again, the idea of two sides of the same coin applies here.
I’ve written another meta about this before, but I also think the whole idea of repressing a part of your identity and hating it, before bonding with another woman and then realizing that it’s okay to be like her and to be on her side. It’s okay to be yourself and meeting her is what helps you discover this new part of yourself. Is kinda inherently gay. GLaDOS’ discovery of her own humanity just fits so well into a queer realization narrative, to me at least.
Then, Chell and GLaDOS escape Old Aperture and have to get through Wheatley’s tests.
Here, GLaDOS isn’t just begrudgingly on Chell’s team. She’s actively helpful. She wants to help Chell solve tests, defends her from Wheatley’s insults, and makes jokes to lighten the mood. Things that can really only be explained by her caring about Chell, especially the part about the insults. See below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the two escape Wheatley’s testing track, right before the boss fight GLaDOS has a few other things to say.
Tumblr media
GLaDOS is not going to betray Chell, because of some kind of conscience. But she could easily ignore that back in her body, and yet? Here she’s deciding not to, and for no good reason. She didn’t have to say that to Chell, but she did, because she cares and she wants Chell to live.
And then, moments before the fight:
Tumblr media
The final lines imply that GLaDOS does not think of Chell as an enemy anymore, and that it doesn’t matter what Chell thinks because they are in this together and they are getting revenge together. It’s pretty heartwarming to be honest, to know that even in a fight that will almost certainly kill you, she is there rooting for you and caring about you, even if you don’t feel the same way about her. It no longer matters to GLaDOS whether you even reciprocate - you staying alive, you making it through is enough for her.
So Chell fights Wheatley and sends him into space, all well and good, and at this point, GLaDOS has the option to kill Chell. But not only does she not, she actively saves Chell, and holds her hand in the process. If you don’t believe me:
Tumblr media
And not only that, but when Chell goes unconscious from her injuries, GLaDOS sits and waits for her to wake up. It’s also implied that GLaDOS carries her to the elevator, since it’s where she wakes up but not where she passed out. In the scene where Chell blacks out, you can also hear the part of Love As A Construct that sounds like Cara Mia. Yeah. Yeah.
If you think that this cannot possibly get any gayer, you are wrong again, because then GLaDOS makes her final speech. Which is really just a love confession, let’s be honest.
Tumblr media
The “surge of emotion?” Do you mean love, GLaDOS? And the idea of GLaDOS considering Chell her best friend, despite everything these two have done to each other? The idea that GLaDOS, out of all people, forgives someone?
Except this isn’t even Chell’s final send-off. GLaDOS writes her an entire opera of turrets, that sing a literal love song. (Note what I said earlier about the use of the word “bambina”).
Tumblr media
It really can’t get any more obvious than that. “My (affectionate romantic term here), my dear, I adore you.” How. Is. That. Heterosexual. In. Any. Way.
So Chell goes to the surface, set free by GLaDOS (think of the saying “if you love something, set it free), and you think that’s the end. Until GLaDOS gives you a companion cube so you aren’t alone on the journey, and from the burn marks, you know it’s your first companion cube. Her original heart, her first gift to you, a piece of her that she wants you to carry with you to remind you that she does care about you after everything. It also gives the lyrics to Still Alive a much more genuine meaning.
Tumblr media
Portal 2 ends, and then the ending song, another GLaDOS number plays. Just like Still Alive, Want You Gone is structurally a break up song and very obviously about GLaDOS missing Chell and “counting on” (read: caring about/loving) Chell’s tendencies and quirks.
Tumblr media
She’s accepted Chell completely, and yet also given Chell the one thing she wants most. Only wanting Chell gone can mean GLaDOS not wanting Chell in her life anymore, but can also mean she wants to give Chell the freedom she’s wanted for so, so long. It’s the best thing she can give.
In the co-op campaign, GLaDOS also references still caring about Chell.
Tumblr media
And that’s the end of the Portal series. Except. Brace yourself. Despite the games being over, there is STILL more subtext somehow. It gets. Even gayer.
Exhibit C: Supplemental Evidence
Valve has made a lot of extra/cut content for the Portal series, and I’ll be looking at some of it below.
Tumblr media
This official valentine from Valve shows GLaDOS offering a romantic partner cake, which as we’ve established before, is very symbolic of GLaDOS’ feelings about and/or relationship with Chell.
There’s a lot of other concept art and official art that emphasizes their relationship too. See below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s also some cut GLaDOS lines that are even gayer than the source material and again, sound like confessions or references to a breakup:
Tumblr media
The idea of “discovering things about someone”... how much more obvious can it get?
The developers have even confirmed a lot of my commentary on Chell and GLaDOS’ relationship in The Final Hours Of Portal 2. See these quotes from the book/this post:
Tumblr media
The devs literally describe it as a romance. They use terms like “cheating,” they wanted to write a romantic duet, JoCo purposefully wrote the endings like love songs. It is literally, blatantly said by the creators of the game that their relationship is interpreted romantically. By the creators of the game.
And if Word of God confirmation isn’t enough for you, have a song written for a cut alternate ending by GLaDOS’ voice actress, Ellen McClain. The song is literally nothing but GLaDOS talking about caring about Chell, about not wanting her to die/leave GLaDOS alone, about wanting to bake a cake with Chell, about waiting for Chell to wake her up. It’s so genuinely sweet and sad, and really, really romantic in the most heartwrenching way possible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
JoCo also came back for the Portal levels in Lego Dimensions, writing one final breakup song for GLaDOS to sing about Chell. It comes off as GLaDOS not wanting to admit she misses Chell even though she obviously does, trying to replace their relationship but failing, and even explicitly forgiving Chell/wanting her to come back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, the “finally I understand,” as if only now GLaDOS understands just how deep her feelings for Chell are... What else can I say?
In Lego Dimensions, GLaDOS also outright rejects anyone who isn’t Chell.
Tumblr media
In Conclusion:
Why do I ship Chell and GLaDOS?
Well, ultimately, it doesn’t matter whether I ship them.
Because I think it’s glaringly obvious Portal does.

Actually not done thinking about it: the odd thing with JQ’s relationships (at least in books 1-4) is that it both overtly acknowledges the power dynamics and simultaneously refuses to have the characters in the story acknowledge it or even apologize for it in a sincere manner. And while I obviously enjoy these books and choose to ignore her weird characterizations and moments like these. I feel I have to say something cause it BOTHERS ME.
Like when I say that the men use physical force on the women, it shows that they KNOW that they can intimidate their love interests into falling into line, JQ has them exhibit it once in an uncomfortable manner and after, the threat lingers rather than is used again. This dampers any feelings of romance in my opinion, because I cannot forget that C bruised P or that B held S down to keep her from running.
C and B do not physically restrain P and S again but the first time is enough to show that they can easily overpower them. A, C and B are from one of the most powerful families in the Ton, yet their social decisions to play with the reputations of their ~beloved~ is seen as morally fine because “they’re too good to actually abandon their lady” but the ladies don’t actually know that lol. These men have all the power, yet we are told to trust them because they are “good.” All take liberties with their ladies outside of marriage.
Even with Daph and Simon, she could have the social upper hand in any relationship because of her family and dowry, BUT he is made to be a rich Duke and thus one of the few men in their circle that can destroy her socially. JQ insists (in the first 4 books, haven’t read the last 4) on making her male love interests both socially and physically intimidating. There was no need to have any of these men physically aggressive with their love interests. It adds nothing to the books and honestly makes the romances feel, at times, toxic.
B even threatens to have S jailed for her own ~best interests~ because she rejects him and wants to disappear since people are looking for her. While this all works out and love ensues, it was uncomfortable as a reader that he had all the power in their relationship. The one thing she has is the ability to refuse to love him.
All 4 men are given moments in the books where they are so scarily mad at their love interests they cannot think straight and have to physically restrain themselves from harming them. JQ treats this restraint as a testament to their character rather than a flaw. The women are sometimes painted as being the reason for this anger and that they need to be contrite and apologetic. Idk about most people but I’ve never been so mad at my SO of over 4 years that I had to refrain from the desire to harm him.
The reason I believe I prefer A and K is because she hits him back. He steps on her hand, she bites his leg. He “accidentally” pushes her, she pulls him down with her. She stomps his foot, he makes her stumble. While their first kiss has some definite weirdness with power dynamics, she is allowed to give him the same treatment he gives her. Their relationship, while socially imbalanced, is treated as equally tumultuous and they both rage at one another similarly. They have the same temper issues, they fight each other physically during their courtship.
But seriously JQ, what the fuck?

1) If there is another shield like Bella, and that shield shields Bella while Bella is shielding someone else, would it not effect her, or would it stop hers?
2) Let’s just say in a distant world Carlisle decides/wants to have a half breed child. How do you think Esme would react to that? Would she still think of Edward as her best son? How would she act toward the child if he were to go through with it?
Sorry if these seem stupid. Thanks :)
Well, alright then, anon, let's do this.
Question 1
First, this isn't how I imagine Bella's gift actually works or what it actually does. The shield is a manifestation of Bella's gift, but it's not what it actually is. That's the technical babble of Eleazar, a known idiot.
Regardless, to keep things less complicated. Bella comes across an alternate dimension Bella (or else Beauford goes to the dark side). The pair face off: shield against shield, and the battle will come down to which of them can nullify the other Bella.
Flip a coin.
If the mysterious other vampire is not as powerful as Bella (very likely, Bella's power level is OVER 9000!) then Bella will win. I do not think her shield would be taken down. If this other vampire is Bella, then they're probably at a stalemate and it comes down to which of them is more motivated. Who wants it more.
Probably though it just becomes a battle of physical strength and numbers as the respective Bellas nullify all combative gifts on the battlefield.
Whoever wins is whoever brought more people.
Question 2
I mean, the premise of this question, is that Esme has been kidnapped to a human/vampire zoo on Traflamador and never noticed. How did she not notice? She's Esme.
Regardless, Esme lives with a fake, cardboard cut out, family that resembles the Cullens she left behind. They suddenly stop moving around, Esme's given absolutely no explanation of why they suddenly don't have to move. Everyone's relationship is suddenly harmonious and perfect, no one argues, or even has any semblance of a conversation, ever. Esme barely notices and is just pleased everyone's getting along so well. Every day the children leave for school at the same time and come back at the same time, there is no longer a summer. Every day Carlisle leaves for work at the same time and returns at the same time. Every two weeks, like clockwork, they go hunting. Esme, somehow, never notices.
She lives in a Norman Rockwell vampire painting: she never notices.
Then one day, Simulation Carlisle says to her, "Esme, my love, I think it's time you and I have a child. Select for me the breeder." He brings out a book containing photos of all the human women in exhibits on Traflamador (Esme's told it's various high school yearbooks).
This... rings a little bell left in the back of Esme's head somewhere. This... doesn't sound like something Carlisle would usually do. Carlisle insists it is something he'd do, for her, and Esme figures he must be right. And since little Renesmee is all grown up it might be nice to have another child in the house.
(The memory of what Bella went through to have her own child, of what this means for the woman they're selecting, is a distant concept to Esme. Though, because of this, she and Simulation Carlisle have a much healthier marriage than she and Real Carlisle ever did).
They spend days looking over pictures, choosing the woman who will produce the most adorable and wonderful child. They have a great time doing this. Simulation Edward even pitches in to see which woman will produce the best playmate for Renesmee. With Edward's input, they probably land on a very willowy, fragile, beautiful looking woman who is exactly Edward's idea of feminine beauty.
Regardless, one day instead of going to work, Simulation Carlisle says, "Goodbye, honey, I'm off to get us a child!" Esme waves with a handkerchief, "Goodbye, my husband! I believe in you!" Then goes back to cleaning the house.
Esme doesn't see Simulation Carlisle for a month and when he returns it's with a half-bred, beautiful, baby. The mother? Eh, she didn't fare so well. Esme does not blink at this and gladly accepts the new family member. She proclaims the baby looks just like her and Carlisle (it looks nothing like her).
In Esme's Traflamador exhibit, she's able to dote on both Edward and on new baby. Neither is the best child, or at least, Edward is certainly not replaced by this new child. They're all wonderful. Esme is happily able to Esme along.
And then... the child grows up.
At first, everything's wonderful, but the child is a) not a simulation b) is not Esme. This is the kid's world, all they've known, but even so they slowly realize that reality is not what Esme seems to think it is. Something is wrong here.
The child is anything but harmonious and wants out. Why do the rest of the Cullens leave the house every day while Esme and the child just stay here? What is school? What is work? WHAT EVEN IS THIS PLACE?!
The child figures out they're on an alien zoo and conspires to get themselves and Esme, the only real connection they've ever known, out. Unfortunately, Esme has no idea what the child is talking about and refuses to leave.
The child, in despair, has to leave Esme behind as they steal a space ship and try to direct it to "Earth" a place they've never truly been and have so many expectations for.
After that, well, the child is no longer the best child and Edward's clearly number one.
At least, until Simulation Carlisle says, "So that didn't go so well, want to try again?" Esme says yes.

What shatter-me Warner would do.
The fastest character assassination I’ve ever seen.
Here’s the thing: Warner from original trilogy had character arch. More important: he was a character.
He was mean, villainous, cold, cruel murderer, with daddy who basically bought him regency (like come on, if it wasn’t for Anderson no one would even think about giving him that position; n for nepotism), but he also was deeply traumatized and abused his whole life and had little to none normal human interactions. I loved that fact that the only good thing he did (killing Fletcher because he was abusing his family) resolved into a complete catastrophe (Anderson killing children and wife) because Warner didn’t think it through. He tried to do the right thing and failed miserably, because he was more concerned with making a spectacle for Juliette. And after that he still had the audacity to paint himself as a hero who saved poor family from terrible tyrant in Ignite me.
I didn’t expect him to act and think like a human being. He didn’t need to act like a normal human. Warner gas lighting Juliette in the first third of ignite me is Warner’s thing to do. Him yelling and throwing tantrums and making scenes in Unravel me is Warner’s thing to do. Him forcing Juliette to do things she doesn’t want and traumatizing her in the process in Shatter me is Warner’s thing to do. Him wanting to torture Adam to death is Warner’s thing to want.
There’s a few reasons for this:
a) he doesn’t know how to communicate with people other than giving them orders or making threats;
b) he truly believes that he’s in the right here (he doesn’t see himself as a bad guy in Juliette story, more like a knight on a white horse);
c) he’s physically unable to be honest with himself and always has someone to blame for his own mistakes and failures;
d) he’s ‘results justify the means’ kind of guy.
Changes for good, with trauma that deep, when you basically don’t have a moral compass, don’t happen over night.
Was his ignite-me arch made sloppy? Yes. Everything was too info-dumpy and too convenient (Juliette forgetting that Warner was going to torture Adam to death; Juliette feeling that she’s the one who needs to apologize; Leila’s entire character used only for a sob story; Adam turned into a douchebag so Warner would look a more suitable love interest, etc). But it still was an arch. And the finale of ignite me was so open I really could imagine that, little by little, in the future, he will start to trust people more and really gonna help Juliette and co to make the world a better place. And his redemption arch wasn’t finished in the slightest, and I would even say that it was only the beginning of it, but it was implied that things will get better from there (the most important part of that being him genuinely wanting to make things right with Adam and James; he’s the one who makes the first step and initiate the bond).
So what went wrong in new three books? Ehm… everything, to be honest. Instead of developing a character that was already there, she decided to give him a new personality. Actually it can be said about every single one of characters, but Warner just happened to be the biggest victim of them all.
Tumblr media
Let’s look at Restore me.
Okay, we have his pov, and I never thought I would say it but… Warner is kinda dumb. He’s supposed to be this military strategy genius, someone who knows how RE works from within and… it turns out that he just as clueless as Juliette. More than this, we never actually see him do ANYTHING except fucking Juliette. And for some reasons he never helps Juliette with her work??? There’s so much paperwork and instead of helping her to sort though it he’s… just not there???
Those stupid long monologues about how she’s capable to do anything mean nothing if he doesn’t actually help (as we can see at the end of restore me, when Juliette gets captured).
That fact that he doesn’t immediately check if Castle’s words are true? And instead of helping Juliette with Haider (telling everything he knows about him and his family, preparing her for the dinner) he fucks her??? This is a dumb bitch shit. And maybe you didn’t noticed but Shatter-me Warner wasn’t a dumb bitch.
After all, there’s a simple reason I never wanted the job of supreme commander myself—
I never wanted the responsibility.
It’s a tremendous amount of work with far less freedom than one might expect; worse, it’s a position that requires a great deal of people skills. The kind of people skills that include both killing and charming a person at a moment’s notice. Two things I detest.
Remember shatter-me Warner who wanted power because power meant that he could have control over his life? Remember shatter-me Warner who wanted to work with Juliette as a team to change the world? Yeah that’s him now.
No personal ambitions allowed when you’re a walking dildo, I guess.
Off the topic, but Mafi really enjoys making Juliette stupid as fuck:
“Oh, yes, of course,” she says, remembering. “I’ve gotten a bunch of letters about that. I didn’t realize it was such a big deal.”
Let's continue.
Hurting Haider would be enough to start a world war.
Warner says and then Juliette threatens Haider, a foreign official on a diplomatic mission, and instead of being even a little bit worried and think about possible consequences, Warner thinks this:
But I can only smile at her. I want to scoop her up and carry her away. Take her somewhere quiet and lose myself in her.
Okay, I guess it’s official, there’s sperm inside of his head instead of brain cells. I can’t find any other explanation for this clownery.
Shatter-me Warner would… Shatter-me Warner won’t be in this situation in the first place.
Someone tries to kill Juliette and Warner does… nothing about it. He never goes to check the body of the assassin himself. He thinks that Nazeera hides something and he still allows her to go around and doesn’t even interrogate her when Juliette says that Nazeera was there at the moment of the attack. He doesn’t find it even a little bit suspicious? That guy who had tremendous trust issues in the original trilogy? Remember him? Yeah, that guy. Shatter-me Warner would lock Nazeera and Haider up and demanded answers. Shatter-me Warner would be angry as fuck, and would try to kill Kenji with his bare hands, because Kenji was stupid enough to leave Juliette alone. Shatter-me Warner wouldn’t stop until he had answers (and the head of a person who wanted to kill Juliette on a plate).
New Warner is too busy feeling sorry for himself to actually do anything about it. And after one chapter it’s completely forgotten, like that fact that someone tried to kill her is not important at all.
And then Castle enters the picture with his stupid and sloppy info-dumping (I guess Mafi never heard of ‘show don’t tell’ rule). And says this:
“She can’t lead this resistance,” he says, squinting at something in the distance. “She’s too young. Too inexperienced. Too angry. You know that, don’t you?”
and if that wasn’t enough he also says this:
“It should’ve been you,” Castle says. “I always secretly hoped—from the day you showed up at Omega Point—that it would’ve been you. That you would join us. And lead us.” He shakes his head. “You were born for this. You would’ve managed it all beautifully.”
AND HE’S STILL ALIVE AFTER?
This is a fucking treason right there. And Warner A-OKAY with this.
Shatter-me Warner would strangle him right there. Or better yet, he would go along with this until he has 100% evidences of Castle’s betrayal and then he would kill him. Or he would kill him simply because Castle was withholding important information and earlier in books he put Juliette in a great danger by sending her to Anderson without telling her the truth (unravel me).
But not this Warner. New Warner is far more concerned with fucking Juliette then helping her or looking for a way out of this situation (because now he has dick instead of a brain).
After my father’s revelation, my thirst for information became suddenly insatiable. I needed to know more—who these people were, where they’d come from, how much we’d known—
WHERE AND WHEN DID WARNER IN PREVIOUS BOOKS DISPLAY THIS?
When I say that Mafi simply forgot her own characters this is what I mean. Warner from original trilogy didn’t give a flying fuck about them. He thought that they were weak and stupid.
I will lose her.
And it will kill me.
He said this shit and after he nearly had a panic attack because he imagined her dating someone else? Oh, come on, how more pathetic can he get?
There are words for this kind of behavior: toxic codependency.
Oh wait wait! I know! This is not Warner! This is Edward Cullen disguised as Warner! The mystery is solved!
Oh, he fucks her again. Apparently it’s the only thing he’s good at. What a character! The layers! The complexity!
And then Lena came into the picture.
Until that moment I was more or less okay with Warner. Yes, I was very confused, but I was ready to give Mafi benefit of the doubt. He lost his father and was dealing with grieve. We all can act out of character in the face of a tragedy or drastic changes.
“Why do you keep pressing this? Who cares if I’ve been with other women? They meant nothing to me—”
And there I felt in my guts, I’m not gonna like what next to come.
Haider was exhibiting suicidal tendencies. Self-harming. And I got really scared. I called Warner because I knew Haider would listen to him.” She shakes her head. “Warner didn’t say a word. He just got on a plane. And he stayed with us for a couple of weeks. I don’t know what he said to Haider,” she says. “I don’t know what he did or how he got him through it, but”—she looks off into the distance, shrugs—“it’s hard to forget something like that.
Oh, so Warner's words about how he never had any real interactions with anyone before Juliette were bullshit. About how he doesn’t understand people were also bullshit. About how Juliette was the first person who was not afraid to speak with him freely were also bullshit. Because all of the sudden he can help someone heavily depressed. Someone with suicide tendencies? Someone who harms himself? And now he has an ex-girlfriend who’s ready to beat the fuck out of him and calls him mean words (she clearly doesn’t fear him)?
Now his entire character in the first trilogy doesn’t make any sense. And his excuses don’t make any sense.
Bravo, Mafi! Bravo! This was the fastest character assassination I’ve ever seen.
She says that Lena was in love with him—really in love with him—but that Warner broke her heart, that he never treated her with any real affection and she’s hated him for it.
Oh, so he’s not only stupid and absolutely useless, he’s a fuckboy. And if there’s one thing I HATE, it’s fuckboys.
There’s a big-big-big difference between someone who has one-night-stands and THIS SHIT:
“You’re upset, I understand. But it’s not my fault you feel this way. I don’t love you. I never have. And I never led you to believe I did.”
“She and I,” he says, “it was—we were nothing. It was a relationship of convenience and basic companionship. It meant nothing to me. Truly,” he says, “you have to know—if I never said anything about her it was only because I never thought about her long enough to even consider mentioning it.”
“It wasn’t like that. It wasn’t two years of anything serious. It wasn’t even two years of continuous communication.” He sighs. “She lives in Europe, love. We saw each other briefly and infrequently. It was purely physical. It wasn’t a real relationship—”
So he despised her but used her for sex? WOW. Cool. He can go and trip over a fucking knife or fall out of the window for all I care.
“Everything in my life was different before I met you,” he says. “I was lost and all alone. I never cared for anyone. I never wanted to get close to anyone. I’ve never—you were the first person to ever—”
And how exactly he was able to help Haider with his self-harm then??? If he didn’t CaRe for anyone before Juliette?
This was the moment when Warner from original trilogy died in agony.
Okay, let’s see real quick what we have in Defy Me:
He thinks about escape but never really does anything to escape;
(anderson is the one who opens his cell;
he stands in front of a guy who murdered his mother and doesn’t even think about her, yeah I can see how important she was for him;
/again, shatter-me Warner would probably demanded answers, but not walking dildo, walking dildo cares only about Juliette. his excuse in ignite me 'i did it all for my mom' doesn't make any sense now, because he actually doesn't give a flying fuck about her/
he gets captures one minute after he “kills” Anderson;
nazeera is the one who gets him out of there;
super soldier taught his whole life how to survive, everyone. useless as fuck)
He doesn’t know anything about jewelry.
(super ooc, i know what Mafi was trying to do here: she tried ‘sherlock holmes doesn’t know that earth revolves around the sun’ thing Arthur Conan Doyle did, but the problem is WARNER IS A FASHIONISTA, or he was).
He wants to get married because…???
He sees a woman who tried to kill Juliette and he’s a-okay with staying at her place, because she said that it was actually a message (???).
Castle is still alive.
Nazeera who knew all this time about Anderson and was working for him is also alive and well.
Oh and he doesn’t care about Anderson being alive and being a real threat to Juliette (fucking her is more important for him, as usual).
His complete disregard for Juliette’s safety only makes me hate him more with every new book.
Imagine me.
First and foremost: don’t call imagine-me Warner shatter-me Warner. Don’t insult shatter-me Warner like that. With shatter-me Warner Anderson would have to try very hard to get to Juliette. It would be ‘Warner made 100 back-up plans, but Anderson knew him too well and created 101 plan and that’s how he managed to win’ kind of situations.
But walking dildo is too busy feeling sorry for himself (as usual), he just sits by her bed FOR TWO FUCKING DAYS, doing absolutely NOTHING to make sure she’ll be safe.
Nooira says that Juliette should be killed and she’s still alive for some reason.
He’s entire persona is that he’s rude to people (but not bbc’s sherlock holmes kind of rude, when he’s unbearable dick but he’s actually smart and really gets shit done, so we can tolerate him). He’s just rude.
He doesn't care about Adam or James's wellbeing (remember Ignite me Warner who really wanted a family? Yeah that's him now).
But he has gruppies now, because he’s hot and everyone in the sanctuary wants to fuck him.
Oh and he proposed to Juliette. HE PROPOSED. THEY ENGAGED! DO YOU HEAR ME??? THEY GONNA BE MARRIED! HE PROPOSED TO HER! AND SHE SAID YES! THEY GONNA MERRY!
Because god fucking forbid we forget about it.
(mafi really thinks that her readers have the mental capacity of a golden fish, huh?)
I lost count how many times walking dildo implies that he's gonna kill himself if Juliette is not with him (disgusting).
Then our walking dildo cures Juliette by the power of petting (it’s not power of love, lads and gents; you want to see love go watch defenders on netflix; mafi already copypasted elektra’s arch from that show into imagine-me Juliette, you can do yourself a favor and see how this trope can be executed without borderline on sexual assault petting scene).
18-old girl marries a fucking sociopath believing he’s actually a good person.
(we all know how shit like this ends, people like that don't change; and this 'he's different with me cuz i'm very special and i'm gonna teach him the right way' it's really harmful message considering that the audience of those books are mostly teenage girls).
Trust me, there's nothing revolutionary in this trope, it's tale as old as time.
Here's the thing, good written character always defined by connection to other people: friend, lovers, enemies, family, foes, acquaintances, even some random strangers. It's the easiest way to establish what kind of person they are.
Walking dildo doesn't have any of that because all of his "character" revolves around Juliette. He's not a person anymore. By the end of Imagine me he doesn't have friends (his relationships with Kenji or Haider non-existent), no family connections (no talks with Adam or James), even enemies or foes or even people that don't like him (because everyone wants to fuck him, because being hot is his only character trait).
His only family and friend is Juliette. And you know what? It's fucking boring, overdone and lazy as fuck. And insulting to the character he once was.
No redemption arch, no character arch at all.
Happy end.

Good morning Vee! I have been following you for a while and your takes and understanding of MDZS are some of the more sensible in this fandom. There is something on my mind and I want to ask your own thoughts too. Do you ever feel as if Jiang Cheng imposed his ridiculous list of requirements for women on Wei Wuxian as well? Good family, respectable, not too strong etc. Not as in expecting him to act like this hypothetical woman, but as in policing the people Wei Wuxian befriended. Exhibits A,B and C  are Mianmian, Wen Ning and Lan Wangji. Part of the unspoken duties Wei Wuxian had in the Jiang household was being Jiang Cheng’s companion, regardless of how insufferable Jiang Cheng was. Jiang Cheng preferred to take advantage of that instead of trying to make other friends because Wei Wuxian was the only person who didn’t demand that Jiang Cheng put effort in their friendship. Jiang Cheng clearly resented him for it even as he stuck close to him and often treated him as almost an extension of himself. Wei Wuxian was his companion and Jiang Cheng was clearly the superior so he got the first and final say on who else was allowed to hang out with THEM, because to Jiang Cheng Wei Wuxian wasn’t his own person with relationships and interests apart from Jiang Cheng himself. Mianmian is the daughter of a servant too low ranked for Jiang Cheng to associate with so she is instantly barred from his company and Wei Wuxian, as an extension of him also can’t interact and build a friendship with her. She isn’t from a good family.
Jiang Cheng also dissuaded Wei Wuxian from befriending Wen Ning because, I think, he privately saw him as something pathetic. Low ranked, anxious and poor social skills (because of the stammering), Wen Ning was the target of bullying from his more powerful cousins and wasn’t very impressive to others. In Jiang Cheng’s mind Wen Ning was an unimportant weakling that would only annoy him and needlessly occupy Wei Wuxian’s attention, which should only be directed at him. Plus Wei Wuxian might get into his head to stand up to his new friend’s bullies and then Jiang Cheng might have to endure some slight trouble. Completely unacceptable. Wen Ning wasn’t social and respectable, not a good fit.
Lan Wangji was the exact opposite of the previous two. He is a high ranked, famous and respectable young master of his clan. Too high ranked, famous and respectable. Jiang Cheng is jealous, especially since the main driving behind Wei Wuxian’s attempts to befriend Lan Wangji is honest admiration. And Jiang Cheng would never be able to fit in that friendship, it would be something uniquely Wei Wuxian’s. Wei Wuxian simply wasn’t allowed to have relationships outside the Jiang, he was an extension of Jiang Cheng, not his own person! So Lan Wangji is too strong, Jiang Cheng doesn’t want him.
But then what about Nie Huaishang that Wei Wuxian had befriended? Easy, Jiang Cheng had no problem hanging out with him. Nie Huaishang is the heir to a major clan so Jiang Cheng isn’t lowering himself when associating with him. His skills are meager so he doesn’t make Jiang Cheng appear lacking by comparison. Nie Huaishang is also charming, social and respected as a clan heir, so Jiang Cheng wouldn’t have to endure any difficulties from hanging around a social pariah like he would with Wen Ning. Moreover Nie Huaishang doesn’t seem to share those nonsensical ideals that Wei Wuxian has about protecting people and doing the right thing, he is more concerned about his comfort and convenience.  That means he isn’t going to encourage Wei Wuxian’s selfish tendencies to play the hero and make Jiang Cheng look bad to his dad and have him sit through yet another lecture on how he should care about something other than himself. Most importantly, Nie Huaishang’s greater social status along with his lack of a desire to make moral stands and use his cultivation to help other people means that any friendship he forms with Wei Wuxian will be unlikely to continue after studying is over. He wasn’t even wrong, we never see Wei Wuxian think of Huaishang or interact with him after Cloud Recesses of his own. So Nie Huaishang and the other young masters studying with them are acceptable company. But Wei Wuxian isn’t allowed to befriend amazing prodigy Lan Wangji, lowly servant Mianmian, or timid social pariah Wen Ning.
----
My take - I’m not exactly completely on-board with this take. It implies JC has more influence over WWX than he actually does in the novel. Regardless of what JC thought or felt, WWX did his own thing, even as a young teen. JC’s blatant nagging about LWJ did have some impact but it wasn’t that much. Maybe JC thinks like this but very little of it actually affects WWX.

Sharon Carter: A Study in Selfishness
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier spotlighted some hard truths. Beyond its real-world parallels, it’s changed our perspective on the MCU. And on the heels of the finale, we can’t help but reflect on how we got here.
It feels like ages ago that an alien invaded Earth believing it was his right to do so. This madman imposed his will upon a whole planet. He wielded god-like power over an entire species. He took the lives of countless people, leaving the rest to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives.
In doing so, he became one of the most beloved characters in the MCU.
So why is it that many of the people who adore a monster are now so disappointed with Sharon Carter?
Easy. Loki is a man.
Angels and Demons
Relax, everybody. This is not an anti-Loki treatise. I’m writing this post with a Loki poster behind my chair, a Loki mug on my desk, and a Loki t-shirt on my back.
To be fair, it helps that the God of Mischief is played by one of the most charming, attractive men in Hollywood. But Emily VanCamp is no slouch. She’s a beautiful, talented actor who elevates any project. So why are people upset that she’s the Power Broker?
Women aren’t supposed to veer from familial or cultural expectations.
Women aren’t supposed to put themselves first.
Women aren’t supposed to seize power in a man’s world.
The events of Civil War alone had a tremendous impact on the characters we love. Sam and Bucky’s respective ordeals changed them forever, and The Blip forced them to adapt even further. So many people are praising their growth in the TFATWS finale, and we’re among them. But it’s frustrating to then see comments like these:
“Omg wtf is wrong with Sharon? That is NOT who she is!”
“Since when is Sharon evil? That ain’t her.”
“Sharon is totally a Skrull. The Sharon we know would never turn her back on everything she stands for.”
Guess what, folks? Just like Sam and Bucky, the Sharon we once knew no longer exists. She, too, changed and grew - right out of the box that the patriarchy built for her. And people don’t know how to handle it.
Tumblr media
Double Standards
Misogyny is so deeply woven into the fabric of our society that a lot of people, women included, often don’t see it. But it’s in almost every facet of daily life, leaching into our brains like a toxin. And TFATWS called Marvel out on it by illustrating a simple fact:
Men and women who behave in the same way are treated very differently.
A man who tramples others for a promotion is ambitious. A woman is a conniving bitch.
A man who sleeps around is held up as a ladies’ man. A woman is looked down upon as a whore.
A man who logs extra time at the office is a good provider. A woman is neglecting her family.
Despite centuries of fighting for our right to exist, women are still brainwashed to be and be seen as lesser than men. We’re expected to conform to roles meant to keep us subservient. We’re told that caring for others is more important than caring for ourselves.
Sharon Carter received the same cultural programming. And it’s likely that she felt familial pressure (either explicit or implicit) to follow in Aunt Peggy’s footsteps, whether she wanted to or not.
And follow she did.
Sharon joined S.H.I.E.L.D. She fought armed HYDRA agents. Then she sacrificed her life, her career, and her freedom for the greater good. And what did she get for it?
The same thing women always get when they put everyone else’s best interests ahead of their own.
She got fucked.
A Matter of Perspective
Let’s pretend the TFATWS finale had gone differently. The Power Broker is a previously unseen bad guy, a Wilson Fisk type. After the U.S. government branded her as a fugitive and the Avengers forgot her, Sharon has just been trying to survive in Madripoor.
Nonetheless, she helps Sam and Bucky neutralize Karli. Sam secures Sharon’s pardon and she reclaims her former post as a dutiful C.I.A. agent.
Talk about disappointing; that would be like watching a woman return to a man who beats her.
In reality, Sharon is revealed as the Power Broker. After the people for whom she gave everything betrayed her, she built a lucrative business from scratch using a canny brain and the skills S.H.I.E.L.D. taught her.
Now for those who are incensed by Sharon’s turn because she’s selling weapons, please see Exhibit A:
Tumblr media
Even after Tony Stark stopped manufacturing weapons for the U.S. government, he continued making them for S.H.I.E.L.D. If memory serves, he also created a sentient murder-bot that leveled a city before nearly annihilating mankind.
Tony’s intentions were noble, but that didn’t make him any less responsible for a humanitarian disaster. The Sokovians would have been well within their rights to demand Tony’s arrest and incarceration.
But we love Tony, so we don’t like to go there.
And speaking of the U.S. government, let’s be real. American politicians wouldn’t condemn Sharon for illegally selling weapons to dangerous groups. They’d condemn her for cutting into their own profits.
If there’s one thing the U.S. government excels at, it’s creating and arming terrorists. Sharon’s just running their playbook.
Redefining Selfishness
In all fairness, some people’s disappointment over Sharon’s arc has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with heroism. For this discussion, see Exhibit B:
Tumblr media
Ever since Steve Rogers got his happy ending with Peggy Carter in Endgame, the Marvel fandom has been divided into two camps.
Camp 1: Steve is a selfish bastard who abandoned his family, his country, and the world when they all needed him the most.
Camp 2: Steve did more than enough for his family, his country, and the world when they all needed him most and deserved his happiness.
I will always be a card-carrying member of Camp 2, which is one reason I exited my Endgame theater as a human ball of snot.
Steve Rogers gave enough for his country even before he was defrosted. He liberated a POW camp behind enemy lines. He defeated Red Skull. He saved countless lives by crashing the HYDRA bomber into the arctic, sacrificing his own life in the process.
And when he was resurrected after 70 years, did he stop and smell the roses? Read a book on the beach?
No. He saved the world. Again, and again, and again.
It’s incredibly noble that a life with Peggy is all Steve wanted. Think about Michael Bay’s uber-patriotic Armageddon. Those roughnecks had quite the list of demands for saving the world, all of which seemed perfectly reasonable because, hello, they were saving the world.
So what does this have to do with Sharon Carter? Well, if you’re in Steve Rogers Camp 1, you likely see Sharon as a selfish bitch. I’ll make the same argument in her defense:
She’s given more than enough for others. She has every right to now put herself first.
We as women need to redefine selfishness. It’s been weaponized against us for far too long. We have to reframe it as a positive concept whereby we simply make our needs a priority in our own lives.
If more women embraced selfishness, we would be unstoppable.
Oh, and if you’re in Steve Rogers Camp 2 but still disappointed in Sharon Carter, you’ve got some hypocrisy on your chin. Might want to wipe that off.
A Final Note
Alice Walker, who knows a thing or two about feminism, once said, “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
When the name “Power Broker” was first dropped on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it felt cheesy. But now it seems like the perfect title for a woman who not only refused to give up her power, but actively sought more.
Sharon Carter is unequivocally selfish, but that doesn’t make her evil or even wrong.
It makes her one powerful woman. And we can’t wait to see her again.

From anon: I don’t know how someone can be as intelligent as you behind this blog and still ship Vmin and Namjin.... where j*k*ok is known for being the most realistic Jimin-ship and Namjin is known for being creepy for feminizing Jin to extreme extents. People that ship namjin give me chills honestly. Majority have this twisted fantasy of om*ga Jin x a*pha Joon which is so disgusting.
Thank you, I guess, for this backhanded complement (which I'm saying with the utmost amount of sarcasm, just so we're clear). Quick question though, if namjinists give you chills and you aren’t a vminnie, what are you doing on a blog that is mostly about both?
Tumblr media
While I won't get into why I don't agree with your statement in regard to J*k*ok, and therefore by proxy about vmin, I do very much take offense against what you said about Namjin and namjinists. While yes, there are people who do what you said they do, there is an overwhelming majority of those who don't. Since there is no way for me to check every single account of a namjinist and ask them if they feminize Seokjin or see him as om*ga in their fanfics/fantasies, I can use the power of AO3 as place to get some data to check this argument, since a lot of this is reflected in what people write and how they characterize the members.
More below the cut since this could be a topic/discussion some might not want to read about or even see on their TL:
Since 2013 there are 153k fanfics for BTS across all available languages, out of which 7863 have the al*ha/b*ta/om*ga dynamics tag on them, meaning just about 5% of fics fall into that "genre", which is basically nothing. Because I was curious, I checked both designations for each member and created a table, the result being this:
Tumblr media
Now what do we have here, 45% more results for O for Seokjin than A though that's barely anything when compared to the 70% of O for Jimin, meaning even if Seokjin is seen as O, it's much worse in Jimin's case. And while yes, a majority of those % is due to namjin fics, the majority in Jimin's case is due to J*k*ok ones, so really, who are the bad (feminizing) guys here? Even more so when you consider that there are 2.1k J*k*ok fics in this category (without otp:true) as opposed to 1.6k namjin ones. Also, before someone argues that vminnies are just as bad, there are only 631 fics with that tag for vmin and 1.4k for y*onm*n, which covers the three main Jimin ships.
Then, because I was still curious and I like numbers, I thought I could check the other two much debated tags for comparison purposes:
Tumblr media
As it turns out, these results are not great either, though comparatively far worse when it comes to Jimin, though judging by how certain parts of the fandom (and especially shippers) treat and see him, and portray him as, I can't necessarily say I'm surprised.
Now, what does all of this tell us?
For one I think it showcases a big issue we have when it comes to mlm ships within those writing about Bangtan, but also in general, the fact that in large parts many write mlm not because they are gay themselves, or even queer, but because they enjoy their ship and base their way of writing them on stereotypes and by projecting heteronormative ideas and norms onto them, consciously or not is up for debate. There is a whole discussion to be had about when certain writers portray queer characters/real people respectfully and when it turns into blatant feminization and even fetishization, but I'm neither the right person nor am I equipped or informed enough to be the one to have it. There have been countless others who did a brilliant job of it so if this is a topic that interests you, I'm sure you'll be able to find resources and posts about it with ease.
Now, as someone who is queer myself and likes both vmin and namjin dearly, I think it's uncalled for of you to come into our asks and make such claims about namjinists, especially toward someone who never exhibited any such behavior themselves, as in me. I know a lot of namjinists, I watch the community and read their discussions as best as I can, and I enjoy reading a good fic from time to time. And while yes, there are problematic writers who do what you accuse them of, as well as shippers more generally speaking, such people can be found for every ship, their amount those vastly varies.
I don't ship vmin and namjin based on some kind of fantasy version I have made up in my head of them, nor do I read a/*/o myself since I find the whole genre repulsive, so I don't see how you thought this would be an effective argument for whatever you thought this ask would achieve. I base my ship related thoughts, opinions and analysis entirely on what the members show us, the personalities they have, the things they've said and done, and the music they have written. I don't subscribe to any weird conspiracy theories and I don't subscribe to the idea either that the "smaller" one in a ship plays whatever role as opposed to the "bigger" one, or even the idea that relationships have set roles because that's not true for straight couples so why should it be the case for queer ones?
Anon, you can dislike shippers who go too far, we all do, and while I agree that people who still "force" their weird ideals onto Seokjin while "forcing" stereotypes onto Namjoon simply because he's tall and buff are disgusting and wrong, I'm not one of those people. And neither are most of the people who send in asks or have sent me DMs to talk about namjin. There are other sns where these behaviors are exhibited to unimaginable extents by (mostly) women much too mature to be talking in such manners about young musicians half their age or more, perhaps you should send asks like this to them instead.
At the end of the day, how “real” a ship is has no correlation with how big it is or the way people fantasize, write and talk about them. The only deciding factor are the people that are actually involved in the ship itself, not its shippers and their beliefs. Sometimes it worth it to make up your own opinion instead of following the “popular” one without question, or letting toxic shippers taint your opinion of everyone that likes a certain ship.

N/A: He’s dirty, he’s hot, he’ll fuck you till you drop (that doesn’t really rhyme). I got a request to do the NSFW Alphabet and the dudette abides! This was really fun, I think Walter is up next!
August Walker’s NSFW Alphabet
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
August takes aftercare seriously. Being a rough Dom he doesn’t want his princess to slip into depression. A warm bubble bath is due, with him lathering your hair and massaging your aching limbs. He invests in buying luscious bath bombs and fancy props he gathers you’d enjoy. After the bath, he wraps you in a fresh towel and carries you to bed where he begins to take care of each part of your body he hurt. Small butterfly kisses crisp your supple skin, his moustache tickles lightly, lulling you into a deep slumber.
B = Body part (their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
Obviously, August loves his cock and thinks it’s nature’s gift to women. When it comes to you, he’s obsessed with your ass, loves to grab it in public to assert ownership, he squeeze it firmly and grind his aching bulge at the cleft of your ass, always letting you know he is ready to go
He calls your ass a piece of heaven on earth and oh, of course, you’re going to feel a spank or two when he’s pounding into you from behind.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
A huge fan of creampies. He loves to come inside, he ain’t doing rubber so you better be strict with your birth controls. Nothing makes him sicker with pride than watching his thick cum drip down your wobbly legs. It can easily get him hard all over again and you blush with horror as you hear the camera’s click as he snaps a shot of your knees up and thighs spread open, showing your cunt full of his jizz.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self-explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
You mean aside from the fact that he is an anarchist? Well, August might have a collection of homemade porn videos. He loves to tape himself having sex with random girls. Has a whole drawer of them. Loves to watch them every now and then to get himself off. Even after he began dating you he kept them and yes, he is trying to convince you into doing all sort of stuff for him on cam.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
August is basically the king. He fucked more women than he can remember. Lost his virginity with an older woman who taught him quite a lot.
He’s a Dom by nature, mastering different tricks and ever-exploring his darkest sexual fantasies. He definitely knows what he is doing and he has heaps of patience. It’s his greatest virtue, knowing how to torture you just enough till you’re practically begging him to fuck you.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Doggy-style. He has full access to spanking your ass and squeezing it hard enough to leave bruises. Loves to watch his thick cock entering your body while his hand fists your hair. He ruts into your body back and forth, tugging you back against him, preferably in front of the mirror, so he can look into your eyes.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
Dead serious. If he smiles it’s definitely patronizing or sinister, to scare you and let you know he will always have the upper hand. He enjoys cooing at you while you’re a whimpering mess, making fun of how weak and desperate you are.
H = Hair (how well-groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
Fuck no, he ain’t trimming, he is all hair in general. Which is pretty rude considering he loves your pussy completely waxed.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
On one hand, he is never going to say he loves you. not even if once in every full moon he’ll make love to you through a whole night till you’re both crashing into one another.
August is a man of actions and touch, and he’ll touch you in ways that make you feel completely stripped down to your soul while his eyes pierce deeply, letting you know you’re his baby.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
As a Dom he says you are not allowed to touch yourself without his permission and if you do and he catches you, you are in for some punishment. He’s going to tie you up and watch you as he masturbates in front of you, slow and languid, groaning your name and then coming all over your torso. His finger dips into his own cum, collecting the pearly drops and slipping it into your mouth.
He is a fan of mutual masturbation though, on facetime when he is gone on a mission, so always be ready for daddy’s call.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
One? This man is almost everything goes. His biggest kink is the purity one. His woman has to be “pure” and gentle, he gets off from the thought he is defiling you, unloading all his darkness into your sweet little cunny. Or maybe tonight he’ll just dress you in pink ribbons and enjaculate all over your face, just to mess you up. Among other kinks: Spanking, orgasm denial, knife play, bondage, choking, exhibition, size kink (loves it that you’re small, it makes him feel big and strong) praising and some really dirty words that he loves to whispers while deep inside you.
L = Location (favourite places to do the do)
Anywhere you might get caught. Especially where you work, to make a statement, he doesn’t care if you’re loud, on the contrary, he might go extra hard on you. For some reason he fantasizes about fucking you in front of his boss quite often. This one time you nearly did, but he settled for fucking you over her desk, and left some bodily fluids all over that carpet.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
When you’re being a brat, yes he loves his princess, but when you’re a little stubborn bitch that’s when the fun begins. You know he is going to punish you for that and when punishment time comes, he gets creative. One time you wouldn’t let him work so he tied you to a bed and pushed a toy inside you, he left in on for hours while he was working, controlling the power with a tiny remote while remaining indifferent to your screams.
Oh yeah, your screams, the second thing that makes him hard.
But generally speaking, he is so caught up with you that everything you do turns him on. He loves to ogle you when you’re just sitting by the window, reading a book or writing something. You’re his little angel.
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
He’s not into sharing. You’re his pure angel and no one is going to touch you but him. Doesn’t like stuff involving defecation/piss. He is grossed out by it.
Less into anal but willing to try if you’d be open for it.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
He loves to fuck your face, make you tear as you choke on his cock and come down your pretty little throat. He is also into eating you out. His moustache and those thick stubbles leave you red and raw and it’s that mixture of rough and the slow slithering of his tongue inside you that gives you the hardest orgasms. You’re half convinced he is keeping that stach for that.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
August fucks your like a high paid pornstar; rough and fast but not without style, he’s dominating, knowing how to move inside you just right, slowing down to increase the depth and then picking up a harder rhyme where his balls slap against your pussy.
He does go slower sometimes but it’s still rough and forceful, leaving bruises all over your body. You love it...
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
Every now and then when he’s angry at the world, he uses you like a fucktoy. Coming home, he spins and bends you over the table. Not bothering with your clothes. Your panties are wrapped around your thighs and his hand is plasters your cheek to the wooden surface as he spits on his cocks and enters you with zero foreplay.
Your scream is his favorite music.
Being so angry, he doesn’t care if you come, but you do anyway. You always do.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
August is all about experimenting but he has the meticulousness of a special agent and a man who loves to be in control. Breathplay? Sure, he might even get you to blackout, he doesn’t mind, but he’ll take precautions to not cause any damage, same with knife play and bondage.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
He lasts long, he is patient and taught himself to hold back because he gets off from making you weak. August can easily take an entire night to mess you up, to a point you’d beg him to stop. You’re sore, you can’t take it anymore. He leaves you feeble, boneless but always makes sure to give you proper aftercare.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He owns a box of toys that he bought especially for you. As a part of very long foreplay he’d sometimes tie you up and begin stimulating and teasing you, fucking you with a vibrator while looking deep into your eyes and praising you.
You’re not allowed to touch the box without daddy’s permission but... can you help it when he’s gone all the time and you miss him?
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Way too much. August loves to see you beg, he’ll take his time, bringing you to your knees, getting you close and denying your orgasm to the point of tears.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Very loud, he doesn’t give a fuck who hears him, he is not ashamed and damn you love that voice he makes when he finally puts himself inside you. That guttural groan that just signifies how sweet you feel.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Violence gets him hard. Whether it’s hand to hand combat or killing someone. It’s a bit embarrassing, but not for him, for his colleague, seeing him get all worked up after beating some guy to a pulp. If he’s on a mission, well, tough, he’ll have to call you and masturbate while seeing you pose for him. If you’re at the same country as he is, expect him to come home and unload that pant up aggression into you.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
There is a reason why August is cocky and arrogant. He is not just BDE, he is huge and thick and he knows it. It hurts when he goes in, no matter how wet you are, but you live for that pain, it brings much pleasure.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Extreme, he is a sexual person, he loves to touch, he loves to be desired and he loves to desire you.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Not right away, as rough as he is, he makes sure you are properly taken care of after an ordeal. Your aftercare always comes first.
