like I'm genuinely so fucking tired of white lgbts
I love being a lesbian! I love the community that lesbians of colour have built!
but it's a damn shame that we had to build our own distinct community because of how white lesbians treat us
white lesbians have like four different ways that they treat us: fetishization, disgust, erasure, and false allyship. and they're all equally bad and hurtful
constantly telling studs that you want them to beat you up. talking about lesbians of colour like we're sex objects. defending so-called "raceplay". do you really think you're better than the white men who tell woc that they're really into asian girls or latinas? it's fetishization!
and the disgust. disrespecting our cultures, our skintones. talking about your "preference" for other white girls. talking shit about black lesbians' hair.
or you try to erase us. you only acknowledge white lesbians. your wlw positivity blog is only white girls. you talk about iconic lesbians and only mention white ones. you imply or outright say that cultures of colour (especially in the global south) are inherently homophobic, like lesbians of colour don't even exist.
and the one that leaves the worst taste in my mouth? the false allyship. claiming to support us until it comes time to actually do something about it. letting people get away with racism because they're lgbt+. getting mad at us for calling out racism in the community. telling us it's okay to talk about racism, but we have to be nicer about it, that we're too judgemental or confrontational
and no matter which of these forms of white supremacy a white lesbian practices, they will always always hide behind being lgbt+ to get away with it. white lesbians will form a united front to defend each other from accountability for racism
it's no fucking wonder we've built our own communities away from you.

lesbian and queer fashion includes hijabs, niqabs, burqas, and other religious and cultural clothing. queer muslims, queer jewish people, queer people of color, should not have to choose between their faith and their presentation. they do not need to sacrifice their cultural clothing in order to satisfy western standards of queer gender presentation. butch and femme muslims, jewish people, and poc who wear niqabs, burqas, niqabs, yarmulkes, etc- are not “straying” from lesbian fashion or culture, they are adding to it and making it more rich and beautiful. all sapphics deserve to feel safe in their head coverings. if you’re a sapphic who wears head coverings/body coverings or cultural clothing of some sort, you are valuable and beautiful just as you are.

There can be different forms of wlw media. From Portrait of a Lady on Fire to First Kill. Sapphics deserve everything. Every option of media out there. Artistic and deep to teen cringy romance. Cuz we’re all different ages, different cultures, different races, etc. First Kill might not be for you but there’s probably some young sapphic out there losing their mind over it the same way you lost your mind watching Glee. Let us just have stuff plz. We can have more than one form of representation on screen than period pieces.

white lesbians tend to fail to comprehend the existence of lesbians of colour
when they think of the lesbian community, they think of their fellow white lesbians
that's part of why lesbians of colour get accused of lesbophobia when we talk about racism in the lesbian community. because they see us as outsiders attacking a community we don't belong to, rather than community members addressing a widespread issue that impacts us every single day
it's a very similar experience for Jewish and Muslim lesbians. people believe there is an inherent conflict between our faith and our lesbianism, so we are discounted from lesbian spaces and conversations
so when Jewish and Muslim lesbians talk about islamophobia and antisemitism in the lesbian community, we are again accused of lesbophobia, because we aren't seen as members of the community. people who know nothing about our religions decide that we can't be Muslim and gay or Jewish and gay.
being a brown Muslim lesbian, I experience this regularly. white lesbians don't see me as one of them, so any critique that I have of their racism/islamophobia/antisemitism is dismissed as a lesbophobic attack from outside the community
I'm tired of the whiteness of so many lesbian spaces. I'm tired of being ignored and dismissed and excluded and vilified and told who I can and can't be
but I'm so grateful for my fellow lesbians of colour, my fellow Muslim lesbians, and the Jewish lesbians that I stand in solidarity with
I wish we didn't have to build our own community to escape the white supremacy, but I'm so glad that we have each other. that we support each other when the white lesbian community excludes us
we're still here. we always have been, and we always will be.

As a lesbian I struggle a lot with talking to girls but not because they make me nervous. As a young Asian woman I’ve experienced, like I’m sure other women have experienced, being on the receiving end of creepy advances from men. I googled asian lesbian growing up and I remember seeing porn before I saw a regular photo. My entire existence as an asian lesbian felt like it was took over by men using me to jerk off at night and I felt disgusting in my own body. I struggle with talking to girls in a romantic way because I don’t want them to feel the same discomfort. I don’t want them to feel uncomfortable or disgusted. And I can’t help but feel like my identity has been corrupted by the porn industry that I now have it caked all over me therefore I emit a perverted, creepy, disgusting energy. I’m genuinely terrified I’m being a creep when I like girls and I don’t even know it.
