lesbian and queer fashion includes hijabs, niqabs, burqas, and other religious and cultural clothing. queer muslims, queer jewish people, queer people of color, should not have to choose between their faith and their presentation. they do not need to sacrifice their cultural clothing in order to satisfy western standards of queer gender presentation. butch and femme muslims, jewish people, and poc who wear niqabs, burqas, niqabs, yarmulkes, etc- are not “straying” from lesbian fashion or culture, they are adding to it and making it more rich and beautiful. all sapphics deserve to feel safe in their head coverings. if you’re a sapphic who wears head coverings/body coverings or cultural clothing of some sort, you are valuable and beautiful just as you are.

fluffy f/f, a small promo post since sales are low
sales are merp, here’s a plot-focused book pitch. Side note all these have Jewish heroines.
The Olive Conspiracy cozy fantasy setting that’s somehow both high-stakes and high-comfort. Queen Shulamit uncovers an international plot to ruin her country’s economy by sabotaging all the farms. Is her straight-girl crush from when they were both teenaged princesses, Queen Carolina, involved or is she just an innocent bystander? $4 here and also Kindle
Cinnamon Blade: Knife in Shining Armor high-heat superhero romance between a snarky ex-jewel-and-art-thief (who is now sidekick to the heroic Captain Werewolf) and the nerdy damsel in distress she keeps rescuing. The plot is basically: ok now that I’ve asked her out, will we ever get to have a normal date or will aliens and vampires keep interrupting? $2 here and also Kindle
Knit One Girl Two Clara finds the perfect solution to her ‘what will my next line of sock yarn look like’ problem when she sees Danielle’s wildlife paintings. The rest of the story is “oh shit my small business succeeded too quickly HALP” and the girls stumbling around a budding romance while Danielle deals with Family Shit. $2 here and also Kindle. Also comes in a $3 bundle with other f/f stuff.
also, Olive is part of a series of four standalones and some short stories, all of which are here for $17 if you like bundles
Please signal boost if you’ve enjoyed these!

Friendly reminder that if your feminism doesn’t include woc, queer women, trans women, disabled women, women of any religion, or sex workers then your “feminism” is shit <3

In a social media graphic for the book, the author describes Imogen as having "queer discourse brainworms", which is a good way to put it. She tries to educate herself about queer issues, but just ends up thinking that there’s only one right way to be queer. She doesn’t feel the same way about girls as she does in her crushes on guys, so she concludes that means she doesn’t like girls at all. Even when faced with obvious evidence to the contrary, she convinces herself that she’s just trying to be bisexual for clout and that she’s a bad person for appropriating queerness.
Imogen longs to be part of the queer community, and while I’m sure there is some 100% straight and cis person this applies to in the world, it’s such a relatable queer experience. I was in middle school when I excitedly talked about looking forward to joining the Gay/Straight Alliance in high school, and how if I could choose, I’d be pansexual and panromantic. But, of course, I too was "hopelessly straight"…
The Enthusiastic Ally to Bisexual Pipeline: Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli was reviewed at the Lesbrary

Was Anne Frank bisexual?
You can find uncensored copies (or at least, as uncensored as possible) online. I read the version as close to her original diary as I could find, and it included a forward about Anne’s father and how he had edited it before the diary’s release to the public in order to protect Anne’s name from slander. It’s fascinating to read and really it’s very similar to other coming-of-age stories, with the added appeal of it being an actual diary written by a Jewish teenager during the tumultuous time of WWII. (Her father abridged her diary to protect her privacy and make her message more palatable to some; additionally, Anne edited her own diary - some texts were pasted over and rewritten.)
***Annie’s father once said in an interview that when her diary was first published in the 1940s the content would have been so controversial he thought it would hurt the primary reason he was releasing them in the first place. Anne wanted to be a writer when she grew up and he knew the G-rated content would be well received. ***
It's funny how when a straight 15-year-old declares that they are attracted to members of the opposite sex, nobody writes long, multi-paragraph comments to say "wait, wait, not so fast…" NOBODY questions the crushes of straight kids even before they're teenagers, but they question the expressly stated preferences of TEENAGE LGBTQ people. And even into their 20s.
