Today we had the Christmas lunch/dinner and I’m thankful & blessed to have spent it with my family. It was a great day! 🌞 . Especially because everyone agreed to start the day and meal with magic wonderful Celery Juice! This is truly a drink that heals and I recommended to everyone. I drink lots of it daily and if you want to know more about it check @medicalmedium @celeryjuicebenefits 💚 . But as all vegans/ plant based eaters know, it’s never truly easy to eat around family & friends that don’t understand and support completely your lifestyle. Especially in a culture where food is tradition and culture 😁. . In this moments, I load myself with positivity and strength so the meal can pass without any “food disagreement “ 😉. And so the jocks came, than serious talks, followed by science and more comments.... All to convince me that meat is life 😂😂😂 . And the day passed and I gladly sticked to my fruits & shakes that I love and desire daily. Since I eat a Whole Food Plant Based diet, with lots of fruits🍎🍌🍇🍋🍉 &!veggies 🥦🥬🥒🥕and low fat, I gained control again over my body and mind. No more days in bed and constant brain fog and pain! . I’m able to be strong through self confidence and self love! I feel and I know now what’s best for me. . We are all different and so are our journeys. Be strong and follow your instincts. You are your best doctor and your know what heals your body & mind. Don’t give into any believe just because pressures. Especially advise from people that have not faced what your have! . I had some homemade vegan bolognese sauce to use up but no pasta so I decided to put it on my veggies with some rice as a starch. ***************************** If you’re a new vegan let me be clear about how much food this is. I’m American so sorry for the b.s. measurements it’s not my fault! A cup is roughly the size of an average tea cup. ***************************** In this dinner there are 1.5 cups of white rice (I prefer brown but needed to use this up) 1.5 cups of broccoli, 1.5 cups of zucchini (courgettes), a half a cup of green beans, and at least 1.5 cups of oil free bolognese sauce. This is roughly 550 calories. This HUGE plate of food is no more than 600 calories. ***************************** When you first transition to a vegan diet it is likely that you will under eat especially if you’re doing the “whole food oil free” thing. Oils and fats are VERY calorie dense as are processed foods but plants don’t contain a lot of oil (nuts and avocados aside) and Whole Foods have no added calories. As a result a plate of plant based food will be significantly lower in calories than you’re typically “western diet” plate of food. This means you need to eat more and eat more often. Also eat a lot of starchy food, that’s the base of your diet, of the 550 calories in this meal, 300 are from rice! I highly recommend loading a plate, eating till you’re just DONE and saving the rest to eat later. Chances are you’ll want more in a couple hours. If you’re eating a lot of meat replacements or processed vegan food you may not experience this as much. ***************************** A whole food vegan plant based diet is one of abundance! If you’re changing what you eat to lose weight or to improve your health it’s absolutely vital that you don’t calorie restrict!
