Well one thing I’ve noticed in the last couple of updates is Hyrule and Legend have been around each other A LOT
Practically ever since Hyrule finished healing Twilight and helping Four they’ve been hanging around each other. In close proximity too. Which, given that Legend usually only stands close to the people he trusts (principally Sky) is a big deal.
If Dawn pt. 5 is any indication, it seems that Hyrule is mostly initiating this lol

Now, I’m overdue for a LU reread so correct me if I’m wrong BUT I seem to recall that they’ve never stayed this close to each other before. Could just be that they take comfort in one another’s presence. Seeing the panel you shared, though, I’m gonna say it’s more than that.
Idk if they’ve figured out their place in the timeline yet (I’m assuming not due to how everyone acted in Timeline Talk pt. 1). That doesn’t mean, however, that they haven’t begun to guess. Jojo has hinted at many interactions that the Links have had offscreen. Plus, Legend and Hyrule met up before they ran into the others. They’ve had time to get to know each other. I guarantee they’ve got suspicions about their places in time.
Which leads me to believe Hyrule is afraid of losing Legend. He must have figured out that Legend was a hero sometime before his journey began. Meaning, somewhere along the way he perished and the darkness he struggled so hard against spread over Hyrule anew. With Twilight just having escaped death (plus the cryptic comments he continues to make regarding Time’s fate), I’m sure untimely demises are on Hyrule’s mind.
I don’t think he knows Legend’s fate (unless there’s something in his games that hints toward the previous hero’s fate). But I believe he wants to. I can’t be the only one who sees the striking similarities between Legend and Time. He likely came to the realization that a guy like Legend will most likely die a wanderer or a warrior (doesn’t mean he did. I don’t like to think he did. One blorbo with a tragic end is enough XD But still). And being a hero and Legend’s friend he’s wondering if maybe, just maybe he can change that.
If it’s possible to know a future occurrence, it could be possible to transform it, right?

real life happy ramble feel free to ignore but I finally have a colleague at work and we share an office and are the same age and both neurodivergent so we’ve been getting along great which is awesome!!! then a few days ago we were chatting about relationships and stuff and she mentioned that she thinks she might be a-spec and. for the first time in my life. I said ‘oh I think I might be too!’ out loud and. it was great tbh. cos I’ve never told anyone properly like that? i’ve also never met another ace/ace questioning person irl (as far as I know) so i’ve had no one to talk about it with? so yeah anyway i have a new best friend and also i never really realised how good it would feel to say it out loud knowing the other person would understand

I get hating certain political systems and trying to abolish totalitarian regimes but at the same time many of them are so interwoven with our history and society they have become tropes and when I consume media with a setting where the monarchy is absolute and revered then I am playing my part and sucking that princeling off

kinda frustrating how we've spent the last few months acknowledging how a lot of well intentioned but guilt trippy social justice posts are like specifically designed to worm into ocd ppls brains and then now every single post abt palestine is "i dont care how bad your mental health is, i dont care how bad looking at all this makes you feel, if you don't read every single post you see on this topic in full you are a horrible person and directly contributing to their deaths. 'waaaah my mental health' well at least youre not being bombed, did you think about that??" and its like. i absolutely get where youre coming from but you dont get to complain that guilt tripping is bad then turn around and use it anyways because you think the cause youre using it for is worthwhile. like. everyone thinks the cause theyre using it for is worthwhile, thats why theyre using it. but its still a shit way to do it

Can we kill the whole “no attention on artwork is sad and means it was a waste of time” thing? Like Seriously can we kill it. I put a fuckton of effort into my art and it usually gets like, 10 likes, and that doesn’t really matter to me bc I love making it. I’m grateful for nice comments, but I’m gonna keep making the stuff I make regardless.
Like ok I’m not trying to sound all holier than thou here, but the amount of artists online who say stuff like “this artwork was a flop, so I’m feeling really discouraged” is making me go crazy. Is that all it is for you guys? Content? When you’re making artwork are you just making content for an audience? No offence but I feel like that’s a huge fucking waste of time, way more than making art you like and getting minimal attention on it.

Because it’s a kids show so the primary solver of the problems involved is obviously going to be the kids. Having an adult swoop in and solve everything/baby sit all the time would probably be kind of boring for the intended audience. Boring for everyone actually. Next question.
#TMNT 2012#I mean a Watsonian answer could be trauma or whatever and that this family needs counselling but can’t get it because of the mutant thing#but the primary viewing audience is probably ten year olds who think fifteen is like close enough to being potentially capable#Like do I think ATLA did far better by the whole kids who have to fight angle?#of course: and the romance was much better too in atla for that matter#but we have to remember that adults ranging from their twenties to forties aren’t the primary audience in either case#2012 is the animated TMNT version I have the most issues with but some of the common criticisms aren’t great either#Like I think it’s important for kids to see themselves as capable#And sometimes we adults just also kind of suck#like the ones who animated april to have her ass showing when tied up for instance#TLDR: there are legitimate problems with this show but like come on#(Also the idea adults will always be perfectly capable of everything is kind of immature#Like idk I don’t see splinter being able to do donatellos tech capabilities)#Like I think rise did far better with the whole imperfect splinter thing but you know#2012 sometimes feels like that nutty first draft of a fanfic where you’re throwing everything to the wall to see what works#it’s like Nickelodeons practice series I guess#rise is already an improvement and maybe so will mutant mayhem be who knows#But any splinter works best in missions when they are reserved for those which are big deals#like it indicates it’s serious business if a splinter gets involved

people have got to stop comparing everything to the obelisk flair situation bc there has really not actually been anything like it since and probably (hopefully) never will; the obelisk flair thing was the catalyst for staff at least consistently maintaining known gene error threads, because obelisk flair having apparently been a “bug” was something *never publicly stated at all* until the “fix” came out (and in fact obelisks were used in the promotional/announcement images for flaunt/flair…) and that was a big reason for the backlash. that’s why it was the one time they decided to go back on a supposed bug fix (after polling the userbase about it)—people were upset not just by the change to their dragons, but by the fact that no one had any possible idea the change could be coming. gene error threads were not the quickly organized lists they are now, this was not a remotely known error anyone was prepared to see fixed.
it was because of this situation that they started maintaining these threads! you can, in fact, check the threads and know which genes are going to get changed at some point, and if you get upset that your dragon got changed because an error got fixed… you should have checked the error thread first, buddy, sorry.
but then on the other hand: no one should HAVE to check the error threads first all the time—you SHOULD do it but that sucks and i’m sorry that you have to. it is completely and utterly abysmal that ancients keep getting so rushed and pumped out way too fast with a mile long list of errors that don’t even all get fixed before the next broken thing gets dumped out to add onto the horrendous pile of bugs. i say this not even out of my spiteful little ancient hater brain but out of solidarity with & support for my fellow FR users despite our vastly differing tastes: ancients are coming out way too quickly and the 2-3 per year pace is unhealthy and causing way too many problems.
#aberrations came out nearly 2 years ago and they apparently JUST finished dealing with all of their errors. lol & even lmao#i see they’ve just done a big sweep of errors which is good but also why do these fixes only come in big sweeps months apart#hm gee if only they hadn’t released 4 entire new breeds since abbes dropped maybe it wouldnt have taken 2 entire years to clear the errors#idk man like im an ancient hater and i will admit there is this snide part of my brain that just goes#yeah if you had good taste and weren’t geneing up an ancient you wouldnt be in this mess lmao#but i know thats mean and ultimately the fault lies with staff for releasing so much broken shit so fast#ancients were a mistake etc but especially the pace at which they’re being released… abysmal even for the enjoyers#anyway stalk the gene error threads before geneing anything released after aberrations i guess. should not be the way of things but it is.

watched nimona. it was ok.
#(i'm very mean in the tags sorry :()#i havent seen the comic so my criticism is purely of the movie.#idk just kind of a mid kids movie. balister is very cute i liked him.#nimona......i want to like her but idk. i think her backstory should've had more attention put towards it. more hints about it#instead of the really abrupt scene near the end that explains everything. that was stupid.#(honestly better yet don't show anything have a big heartfelt outburst where she half explains what happens#(gross crying optional but preferred)#and leaves the rest to the audiences imagination. maybe a scene with voiceover that doesn't quite reveal everything)#the setting is pretty cool. story didn't make much sense to me.#''the wall is there to protect us against monsters!!'' but there's literally only one monster and it's nimona.#which could have been ok if the movie had been...better written i guess??#like do the guards just sit around doing nothing. is it a police state?? i mean obviously they're cops but. they don't do anything.#they aren't even shown to be especially bad or anything just incredibly incompetent#uhhh the romance is cute. it's nice. i wish it was more fraught and bitter.#the passage of time isn't clear it seems like it happens over the course of like a day???#balister learning to accept nimona was clumsy and rushed#the message of the film is nice. would be better if the movie was good.#i think the movie could've been longer and it would've fixed most of these things#i REALLY liked the animation though. the eyes being permanantly dilated was ehhh but forgivable on account of balister being very cute.

Thinking about that "If K*ylo R*n were a woman everything would be better and this character would have worked" post, but after some consideration...I genuinely would have still hated this character.
Like...Idk maybe there's something to be said for the still-subversive nature of characters like this being allowed to be horrible women, but I don't hate this character because he's horrible, or even because he exemplifies a bunch of things in fiction I'm tired of seeing, I hate him because he doesn't feel fully-formed as a character to me and I don't think the movies know what they're trying to accomplish with him from a narrative standpoint (which are, imo, the biggest Story Sins a writer can commit). All of which would still hold true if this character were a woman.
#I WILL say. this character wouldn't be as popular as they are (and they ARE popular. fandom is not just limited to pockets of tumblr) if#they were a woman. nor would The Popular Ship be r*ylo. that's not me scaremongering about misogyny that's just. true.#we have SEEN that be true again and again and again#the OTHER thing about this character is that...I feel like he was MEANT to come across as#'he's so tortured and pained and complicated' but then they never did anything to SHOW ME THAT COMPLEXITY#if I look at like...(idk using another Tortured Male Character Who Did Bad Things) Theon. every day I remember that this fandom simply does not care about autistic people and, much like every other fucking thing I experience as an autistic person, the concept of it being a collective found family becomes increasingly alien to me. love this place.

I’ve met so many people through it that ended up becoming lifelong friends#I’ve been here for almost ten years and it’s meant everything to me for ten years. it’s kept me going through so much shit.#it’s more than just a show and more than just a fandom and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever been apart of#and like I didn’t realize I was autistic until like late 2021. I didn’t even realize SPN was my special interest until then either#I didn’t realize JACK was my special interest. but knowing that he is autistic means so much to me#and its meant so much to other autistic ppl in the fandom. somebody at MomentoCon even mentioned it to Alex last weekend for fucks sake .#it’s real and it’s special and it’s important to us but#but no we can’t have that. make him a fucking baby. toss every interesting thing about his character into a fucking volcano#and relegate him to being a fucking prop for everybody else.#I don’t know how else to tell you this but you are literally infantilizing an autistic person. you are being ableist. intentionally or not.#and the way you all seem to just. idk. double down on your own ableism? or excuse it?#or literally ignore autistic ppl who try to point out how ableist and weird your behavior towards an autistic character is?#it’s a lot of things. it’s so many terrible things and terrible feelings. but above all it’s disheartening.#it hurts to know that even in this space where everyone is family and everyone belongs. tengoku n ds got such shitty treatment in megamix tbh. sure, a lot of their megamix games ARE liked. but a lot of their MORE liked games (including bon odori, rap men, toss boys, crop stomp, dj school, love lab, space soccer n rockers) aren't in megamix-
#puppy rambles#rhythm hell#megamix#tengoku#ds#even WORSE is that games like quiz show n big rock finish that are hated by a lot of people are in instead#i mean. a lot of the scrapped games i listed here get references#which honestly even MORE makes me question why we didn't get them-#i guess they could've been thinking about other versions n that's maybe why we didn't get bon odori??? idk#still doesn't make sense for the others-#esp since rap men crop stomp dj school n love lab (n potentially rockers but that's def just me looking too far into things)#are all referenced at somepoint#(bon odori also is)#i just really don't understand their decision-making-
